Anyway, as an alloaro, greyromantic, aceflux and non-communal Aro: Happy Valentine's day. You are not "Aro/ace/Aroacephobic" for celebrating your love. You are not doing Valentine's Day wrong if your celebrating your platonic love or love for yourself instead of a romantic and/or sexual partner. You're not hurting fellow LGBT people by enjoying your love and celebrating it. Valentine's Day can mean many things for many people.

And for those who will spend today tearing them down, trauma dumping, complaining, calling people aphobes or other insults for celebrating or trying to claim this day is unnecessary and exclusionary.... I hope you heal. I hope you can learn to love yourself.

And when your done healing, I hope you learn that some things just arnt about you and just because they arnt, doesn't make them bad. It sucks to not feel personally included in a wildly celebrated holiday but many people survive st. Patrick's without being Irish, Easter without being Christian and the 4th of July without being American or having American pride. This isn't any different and you don't have to like Valentine's Day, but understand for many gay couples, interracial couples, trans couples, interfaith couples, polycules and so many other people whose love is oppressed and destroyed, this day is a day for them to show their love.

the way phallo and top surgery is criticized just makes me want it more tbh. like im mutilating myself? im destroying bits of my body? thats almost more gender affirming than the parts themselves. i want somebody to look on at me with disgust. they cant find anything to claim ownership of in a body they find grotesque, and thats beautiful to me, and it tells me right away that they matter less than dog shit.

the complete and utter freedom of having a body that somebody doesnt claim ownership of based on the fact they find it unappealing. im done with the shame or the guilt of being unattractive or lamenting it. i want to celebrate it and romantice it. the way society treats people who dont look a certain way is sad and instead of a world where everyone is 'hot', i want a world where people are deeply attracted to their own bodies and dont need to rely on outsider opinion to feel hot or beautiful or wanted.

maybe its just an aro thing but this body is mine and god is it euphoric to transform into something thats beautiful and cherished to you that you get to enjoy all to yourself. its like getting a hair cut that your parents hate times a million. oh, i have such pretty breasts? wouldnt it be such a shame if they were to come off and leave me so profoundly disgusting and ugly to you. i dont listen to compliments from people who call other peoples euphoria about their own bodies unnatural or wrong.

#trans bodies are and can be hot but whats really special is when youre infatuated with how you look and reclaim it for yourself. #you are not there to cater to other peoples definition of hot and this is something that makes people agonize so much for no reason. #of course if you find you like being hot to people thats completely okay and im glad you feel that way #also this aint to say trans bodies are grotesque either im just saying if they wanna call me ugly or mutilated then do it. #because good god do i want to wake up and see my mutilated chest and mutilated body and be overwhelmed with how beautiful they look #as a symbol of self autonomy and self-making in a society where you truly own nothing. #and honestly normalizing scars and 'ugliness' as something to embrace in the process is nothing but good too #enough 'youre not ugly youre actually hot to me!' more body positivity thats not about what you are or not to strangers. #ive been through enough feeling like my body is owned by others to want to have my level of hot determined by them. #i havent seen near enough body positivity that intersects with human autonomy and its a damn shame.
