Hidden love really ended up being a gem through and through. It reminded me a lot of You are my glory not because they have anything in common in terms of storylines but because they were the becoming increasingly rare breed of cdrama/kdrama that is entirely focused on a single love story, there are no side couples added to pad the time and no murder plots, it's just two people growing together and I think that's lovely. Also her throwing the drink in that girl's face for disrespecting the ML ( they weren't even together yet) and saying something along the lines of " If you do something to him I'll mess you up every single time" Top 10 moments of the year.

For Him - I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the wrong edit got submitted to IQIYI for release. There's two episodes left and the plot has also gone off the rails more than a little so I may wait to watch the last two together. Because yikes.

Love For Love's Sake {finished: 5 stars} - First five star show of the month and it earned every one. Beautiful beautiful show.

So apparently I'm going to check out more Yang Yang dramas (I can't help it, the man is gorgeous) so I am putting a poll for which one I should watch next. Point one: I adored Love O2O so. My standards are high. Point 2: I will check out Dream of the Red Chamber after I finish the reading the book for studying.

modern cdramas are so funny because you can never just have a romance show, most of the time, half of it is a work for the good of the country in *add your specific field here* PSA. One of my favorite contemporary romances which is You are my glory had so much of this but it was balanced with a lot of OTP goodness you could forgive them, it's taking the good with the bad, Hidden love also managed to do this in a very minimal way, Falling into you had Olympic sports and they were so intrinsically linked with the otp I loved it, Fake it till you make it also did a great job of this where their professions had such an impact on who they were and it didn't glamorize the grind mentality and also highlighted a lot of complex women in the FL's job. So it can work and be done very well, but imo it's the exception rather than the rule.
