Hi! I love all your MP100 metas. Truly amazing! Here is a popular take on mob which I noticed quite common in eastern fandom but not brought up much in western: shigeo actually has very strong ego, in a way that he only allows himself to be affected by words he wants to follow, sticks to his wants without giving in to others' wishes, and sometimes breaking others' worldview (teru) or challenging (ritsu, dimple, reigen) simply by following his own will, which relates to ??? . What do you think?

i agree with you! shigeo himself is not even aware of his own strength in that regard for much of the story; watching him become more comfortable with his own iconoclasm is one of the things i enjoy most about mob psycho 100. i think shigeo's strong will and (mostly) unshakeable principles are maybe not mentioned as much in western fandom because shigeo is pretty far from the western--i'm just gonna say american here, because it's the perspective i'm best acquainted with--ideal for a young male protagonist.

we tend to prefer at least some degree of blustery, extroverted self-confidence in our heroes; soft-spoken, sad, traumatized kids who seem unsure of themselves don't fly here unless their character development involves 'outgrowing' this. shigeo is understated, and quiet, and downbeat, and kind of sickly even after gaining stamina. he also doesn't trust himself or his own perceptions for quite a while, and i've read more than a few reviews of MP100 in which these qualities made it easy for the authors to discount him as a whole. if a viewer finds him 'boring' or can't relate to him at all, they won't bother to stick around for his steely tenacity or his surprising resistance to groupthink.

despite his apparent 'weakness', he doesn't give in easily, doesn't bend even if his life is at stake, and even manages to persuade others or change their hearts in his own quiet way, simply by being himself. and his strong ego, as you put it (i would actually say his id, if we're going freudian with this) actually SAVES HIS LIFE. repeatedly. that and ???% are one and the same.

i live in a country where quiet people are routinely overlooked because they're not boldly proclaiming their greatness to everyone they meet; to me, shigeo is a reminder that i don't have to compromise who i am to have a successful life. and that is a powerful message to hear at any age.

In my opinion, it represents love beyond death and an eternal sisterly bond. It's common knowledge that Kianna and Yui are biological sisters. Kianna has immense respect for her, viewing her as a sweetheart and a role model. Even though Yui is gone, Kianna still holds onto her dearly. Yui is a prominent and remaining fragment of Kianna's humanity that she'll never let go. It's a reminder of the good times with Yui and the bad that was directed towards her older sister. I'm well-aware that interpretations vary between each person. However, I think it's important to comment on the usage of certain things such as, for example, flowers.

Firstly, the blood represents their biological connection to one another and the thin line between life and death. Secondly, the noose is often associated with intimidation and, more commonly, suicide. I think it shows how Kianna is willing to do anything to protect her older sister. She doesn't care if she gets severely hurt or even killed because she can at least know that she has Yui's back. Thirdly, Kianna's bloodied halo symbolises her loss of innocence and the abuse she suffered at the hands of the Sakamaki brothers. She isn't afraid to shed blood if there is a solid reason to do so. Yui's golden halo symbolises her pure heart despite the abuse she had to endure at the Sakamaki mansion. Lastly, the white rose is used to represent loyalty, purity, and innocence. The sisters have a loyal relationship with one another, trying their best to stay by each other's sides. In regards to purity and innocence, they both lost those two concepts as a result of the Sakamaki brothers. However, I believe that they still linger, especially with Yui. Kianna sees her as pure and innocent, while she isn't due to being half-human and a murderer.

I start by saying that my heroes are spirits(except Link) and therefore no longer need to eat, but here are their favorite foods:

Link/Realm: Fruit cake and strawberry pudding

Sky: Pumpkin soup

Twilight: Yeto's soup (He kept cooking it for a long time)

Wind: Grandma's soup, I think the Links are used to many soups in the end 😂

Time: Probably Lon Lon milk, I think he's a simple man who is satisfied with a good glass of milk.

Worlds: I guess some Apple Muffins for him, he seems like the type who would gladly eat them

Wild: Everything! I think Wild loves to eat everything, he looks like a big glutton, I don't think he would be able to choose just one 😆

i’m a big fan of the idea that he can tell when you’re masking 🫣 he won’t call you out on it in a bad way, but he Knows. and when he does tell you that he can tell a difference, it's very very sweet and caring

the man has a strict routine as well with general day-to-day work so I fully believe that will mesh the best whether or not you're an agent

AND when it comes to him being on cases and breaking that routine, he for sure has ways to keep it in place. like if you're not an agent, he makes sure to text you at least in the morning and at night before bed. but if you are an agent, he for sure develops almost like a second separate routine for when you're in the field to keep things familiar still despite how chaotic it'll get

you make one mention of it being too loud and that bitch will have noise-cancelling headphones delivered to your door the next day no questions asked.

((i'm a VERY firm believer in hotch doesn't like to spend his money on himself but anyone else? sure why not they're $300? why don't you get the $500 pair those look nicer just put it on my card))

he's so patient with reid that i for sure see him also showing that same patience to you. like if you're rambling for too long (and let's be real if you're an agent then you and reid are feeding off each other) hotch will just gently/quietly reel you back in to get back on task

but if you're just at home? oh heart eyes out the ass bitch he will let you ramble as long as you want and he will just listen and ask questions and retain it all. same if you have a favorite show or movie that you just want to watch constantly, he'll be the first to suggest it

back to the patience, i can see him helping in social situations too, if you're ever confused, he'll explain or even keep you from speaking at maybe an inappropriate time. you're usually good on picking up certain things, but he fills in the gaps where you miss other cues

ALSO for my own guilty pleasure, he's defensive as hell. if anyone tries to talk down to you like you're a child or says some bullshit about how "they never would've guessed you're autistic!!!!" hotch is right there to call them out on it. he has your back all the time, especially after you decide to be more open about being autistic in public/at work

he's also super supportive of whether or not you want to pursue an official diagnosis. he believes you no matter what and wants you to do what's best for you, with or without the "official" diagnosis

he's such a protective person in general that i feel like he's the best during/after autistic meltdowns when you feel so out of control. he's right there to ground you and do whatever you need, even if that's just him sitting with you until it passes

I was thinking about how dimple thought mob would exorcise him if tsubomi or that guy he possessed in spirits arc got hurt, and how reigen told dimple mob would exorcise him for sure if he finds out he lied in wd arc. It felt really strange when fandom took their words as facts, like... none of these are dimple's fault? Why would reigen and dimple think that way?

shigeo himself has threatened to return ekubo to the void for far less, if you'll recall: ｢僕の名前は茂夫だよ。次、茂ちゃんって呼んだら除霊するから。｣ 'boku no namae wa shigeo da yo. tsugi, "shige-chan" -tte yondara jorei suru kara.' 'my name is shigeo. call me 'shige-chan' again and i'll exorcise you.'

when he wakes up to the sleazy ghost's wheedling voice, he's ready to exorcise him. he does not give a single fuck. ｢他に言い残すことは？｣ comes to mind ('hoka ni iinokosu koto wa?' i would translate this as 'any more last words?'). then he warns him LATER THAT DAY that he'll be exorcised if he misbehaves again. granted, this came early in their acquaintance... and the very next morning after ekubo tried to murder him in s1e3... but still. (the ghost calls him by his given name for the rest of the series.)

in the psycho helmet arc, shigeo is incensed enough, hurt enough, and more than prepared to make good on that promise. he does not want to! and is weeping at the prospect of sending his friend to the shadow realms, but he will if he must. so that threat has been looming over ekubo for the entire series, anon. it's not baseless.

reigen's sense of what 'misbehavior' entails feels less punitive than ekubo's, however. it probably speaks to their backgrounds. reigen's example entails a breach of trust. even if that lie was justified (and oh ho, was it ever), it was still a lie, with all the potential to piss shigeo off. and reigen has reason to fear that, given that much of his own relationship with shigeo is based on blatant lies and he's secretly terrified of what will happen when they come to light... he's projecting so hard...

i imagine ekubo has led the kind of harsh gangsta (after)life where spirits being obliterated on someone's whim is common, if he fears it happening over what you mention specifically. those are less examples of behaving badly than failure to keep a promise, i think. but in ekubo's worldview? still perhaps bad enough to warrant severe punishment. the spirit has a better sense of what shigeo is capable of than reigen does and has valid reason to fear him, too.

i don't think shigeo actually would have exorcised ekubo for either of these things. i mean, he's grateful to the ghost for preventing him from nuking a sizable chunk of his hometown in grief and voices this; his methods wouldn't have mattered. especially after the fact. if shigeo can recontextualize mogami's torture for months as a cosmic fucking joke played at his expense and take him on? he can understand and forgive ekubo's lie in good faith.
