How I think Toby would act in a relationship

Keep in mind that these are considered disturbing and dark by a lot of people,I try take a more realistic approach,but that’s not to say I hate fanon :) Also this is in no way, shape or form me saying this is how everyone that was abused acts in relationships,that’s not the case at all.Everyone has their own experiences and feelings.

He can feel love for sure! However,relationships? He doesn’t necessarily hate romantic relationships as a whole,he avoids them the best he can.He doesn’t want to be in one, really.

Toby has a lot of conflicting opinions on romantic relationships as the only one he’s been exposed to is his mother and fathers.Why would he want one like that? Because of that stigma he just ignores any romantic feelings it’s never been of interest to him.

I see a lot of people say he’s afraid he’ll hurt someone but I don’t think that’s the case (from my view).

His lack of trust really wouldn’t make a relationship last very long at all.He feels like he cannot trust his partners judgment or view of him as a whole and has trouble trusting their feelings and thoughts.

Toby also suffers with very deep rooted misogyny.

You might disagree but just hear me out.

Toby grew up in a household were a man held the highest power.He held so much “power” that he beat his kids and wife,”like a real man”.

Toby being young and impressionable is going to take this into account and take it on as a thing that just happens to everyone.

He’s afraid of being vulnerable,he doesn’t like the fact his mother was “weak” when facing his father’s abuse.

Growing up in that toxic environment changed his emotions completely,he felt the need to please his father for a long time,so he started joining in on the abuse,but obviously,not for long since he realised the damage it was doing to his sister and mother.

To add more to that I feel like when you two argue it would be very heated.

He knows where to hit you where it hurts,he’ll bring up things that you entrusted him with and he’ll completely shift on you.

He’ll continue to push your limits till your a ball on the floor,he doesn’t care.

He’s seen his mother and father argue he knows how to win and how to lose.He will not be the weaker one,not after everything.

For platonic relationships I think the same could be said.

He does engage in platonic relationships just not fully if that makes sense.

Again,he’s not very trusting of people and I feel like he could be seen as “too much” to some people.

His friendships with people can be awkward as he doesn’t really know what to do in them.Normally he’s friendly enough to talk to but as I said he’s “too much” sometimes.

By that I mean overly clingy or possessive one day and then completely cold and distant the next,Toby is entirely unpredictable.He cant control it so he’s unphased.

"sorry...I'm just venting..." you whisper, turning back to the dishes as you do a play-by-play on today's events

mikasa. she always has something to say. it's not a "when am I gonna snap with her?" you have snapped, almost every occasion you see her

its these condescending remarks that spin you around until you can't see straight. the manipulative tactics she uses to have you do things for her and think the way she wants you to...at least...that's your point of view.

"you're seriously blowing this out of proportion though, you know that right?" eren laughs as he throws his arms up in the air, you're now in the middle of the kitchen, water all over your shirt as you yell at your boyfriend

"when! when have you ever defended me against her!" you ask, trying to remember a time and failing. only bringing back memories of him feeding into her bullying

"you guys always fight there's nothing for me to do" he shrugs

"stop trying to make this whole thing dramatic, just honestly stop." he stared at you like you're some crazy person looking for a fight. seeking out these yelling matches that you've pled to be a saint from all these years

you stood there, feeling insane as you go back and replay once more how she smirked into her drink and attempted to slide a snarky remark that she knows is gonna bother you. how she stopped you at your playful jabs at eren, telling you how it wasn't funny and you to be "nicer" and then presiding to bring back every embarrassing memory you know she got out of eren. you tried to change the topic, and she asked if something was wrong, you said no and tried to tell a different story but she talked over you until you couldn't think anymore.

going back on that, you do think you're in the right. but do you hang on to her sentences too much? waiting for her to be a bitch and exploding when she does? with how erens looking at you now, you think you know your answer

"she's my friend, you don't have this problem with armin-"

"armin isn't a manipulative ass" you snort, he rolls his eyes

"I'm done. you both scream at each other at the next gathering" he shoos you off as he steps away

you're left in the kitchen, only hanging onto the fact you know deep down...you didn't do anything wrong. but are you playing the victim? two people are telling you how mean you are but you can recall a time you intentionally tried to hurt them? are you the manipulative one? are you so lost you don't even realize when you're in the wrong anymore? just running on the allusion you didn't do anything wrong? is that it?

thats nice but.... being trans is not a choice? it's anything but a choice also, people don't get to disagree with my identity. you don't get to disagree with who someone is, it's not "their choice", it's discrimination and hate speech.

your message is well meaning, i can see it, but i hope you'll reconsider these kind of views. hating is not a "oh it's their choice" situation, it affects people for real. it's not a "agree to disagree" matter. it's a "i cant go out without thinking someone is going to see who i am and be agressive based on that". it's a begging everything the cashier doesnt say "maam". it's a "i hope the pharmacist doesnt give me a weird look today".

Ok so I saw that long ass post that anon sent you about the vote thing on Wattpad, and while I don’t agree with some of what they said where they told you what to do (which they shouldn’t have done, they were rude) I do actually agree with them where they said people don’t tend to look at the votes when deciding whether or not to read a story. I actually think the whole vote thing is just something only authors care about, not readers.

As an avid reader on Wattpad, I do give votes just because authors like it- but I don’t actually give a shit about how many votes a story has when I’m looking for my next story to read. I look at the number of views- which I think you’ll find most readers do, even though the view count can be skewed.

Either way, I do think the whole vote thing should be taken off Wattpad as to the majority of readers, they really don’t care about it and it doesn’t give a good representation of how good a story is

I've been thinking about this all a lot ever since the last anon came in. I'll probably avoid answering questions about this topic again, but there does seem to be disconnect between the writer and reader standpoint, so I'll try and explain my thoughts as best I can without waffling for ages lol

my answer is to this ask, but also to the topic in general, and thoughts I've had regarding that last anon.

it's a really difficult topic to discuss because wattpad has an algorithm that is never really explained to writers. i cant say its important because xyz - i can just give you my own experience. ive been on wattpad for 11 years and have seen it through many changes. i used to use the activity tab to find new stories, and i honestly think getting rid of that was detrimental to the user experience tbh.

as it stands, we don't know what the algorithm favours, so we have to do what we can.

and what can we do? we can tag our work, we can acquire reads and votes, and then we can do more laborious things such as entering award books run by other users and engaging with our readers in various ways.

the tag system, and trending stories under those tabs, are really skewed. for instance, I don't think any of my stories have ever made it onto the fanfic tab, nor have I ever ranked highly under tags despite having really engaged readers and metrics which would suggest I would be.

so, unlike what the last anon said, my stories haven't always been 'out there'. word of mouth, and some stroke of luck tiktoks, are what's pushed them more than anything. so in that way, yeah the desire for votes is flawed—but personally I don't think read count is indicative of quality. if we're thinking about it from a marketing standpoint and conversion rates etc, votes a far more indicative of quality and I'd rather be known for quality over quantity.

the last anon also specifically noted the number of reads/follows I have on wattpad, and suggested that I shouldn't care because those numbers are high—which, respectfully I disagree with. if I didn't care in the early days, I wouldn't have pushed myself to make it to where i am. you can't just expect me to switch off that part of my personality. I'm ambitious and I really care about the things I create.

my girliepop oc's tend to have ambitious streaks and personal goals that they work hard for. they take after their mother, in that sense.

i think what confuses me the most is why it irks people, when you boil it down. its a tap on the screen for readers—and having just uploaded an 11k chapter that took hours to write, to edit, to craft, only to then be told its not worth it? i dunno man, it's just mean lol.

you can think these thing by all means, but don't come into my space just to be cruel. sometimes it okay to keep your opinions in your group chats.

the system is flawed, but I don't think you can blame a gal for just trying to work with it in the only way she knows how

You can disagree with BL/Yaoi you can hate the shipping discourse or shipping in fandom in general but you cant frame it in a "i hate [that] bc it's sinful/fetishistic and I'M ABOVE THAT BC I'M WHOLESOME AND BETTER THAN THOSE DISGUSTING SHIPPERS"

bc that's gonna bite you in the ass...as it is doing now. The fucking image of their character's google history is so tame and normal, esp in LGBTQ+ spaces! Yet they are being called a pedo? Crazy. In the end, you only hurt yourself!

I never bothered with HS bc i just wasnt interested in it but thats just my preference. It's sad to see ppl, esp young ppl, turn on a series of LGBTQ+ representation just bc of the author's past (or current? idk) stance on the BL/Yaoi or MLM or whatever genre just bc their stance wavered a bit in a simple comic image. Something that is so fucking normal also! but they will grow up and realized how limiting it is to restrict themselves just to appear pure within a group.

Yet the artists/writers/creators are traumatized by the witchhunt. I know I said the author brought it on themselves for supporting anti but damn I don't want them being accused of being a pedo! Or ANYTHING! NO ONE DESERVES THAT. I dont know anything about the author other than surface knowledge but at the end of the day, all this online shit, doesnt matter. It doesnt! Me saying that is ironic bc im typing this post up right now!

but it's something we care about! I care about fandom spaces, I care that creators are getting attack for something as mild as this even if they invited these ppl into their circle. We're human and we change our views a million times a fucking day. I could agree with one thing and disagree with it another. That's why anti discourse pisses me the hell off! It's just a bunch of bullies looking to make themselves feel better by shaming others! I don't respect that type of behavior. And I hate that they just run around saying shit like "kys" over a two characters fucking?!? It amazes me beyond words.

Fandom has never been without its discourse. But the puritan bullshit is not even fandom discourse, it's just straight up bullying and harassment. It doesnt take much to tailor your fandom spaces to your preferences, i should know ive been in fandom spaces since I was fucking 13 years old. I didn't explore nsfw/porn/anything until I wanted to when I was 18. That is MY personal experience. I never put that on anyone else BUT MYSELF. If I saw nsfw and didnt want to see it I blocked the person. Not make a fucking witch hunt out of it. You are in charge of keeping YOURSELF in check not some person who shared nsfw art/fanfic. How fucking hard is it to turn the "don't show me nsfw" toggle on??? Bc it's not about that. Y'all just wanna be mad and be above someone so why not ppl minding their own business.

And guess what? There ARE ppl who are bad and support nsfw art/writing. They fucking suck. They are outliers and deserve to be called out when they get exposed. But many times, ppl always go "see i told you all the ppl in THAT fandom were pedos/freaks/etc" hmmm sounds like when conservatives go "see...that queer person turned out to be bad, SO all queer ppl are bad" DO YOU GET IT?? It never works out with that line of thinking. You are harming innocent ppl minding their own business. You are harming yourselves when you grow the fuck up and realize that "OH actually...I am curious about sex" and have ppl who you thought were your friends eat your face. PLS wake the fuck up.

I keep seeing everyone blaming Prapai for not moving away from the guy who was pursuing him. But from my point of view it looked like Pai was trying to be polite in a public setting and didn't want to cause a scene and disrespect the guy. He politely told that guy that he was taken and had to literally pry the guys hands away from him. Sometimes it's kind words and actions that make people back away instead of insulting them or pushing them away forcefully.

THE SCENE TO TALK ABOUT THE WHOLE SCENE I WAS SCREAMING AND CRYING FOR IT TO STOP.

There is a bit of conflict with this scene but looking from both sides I can understand why Pai did what he did. Was he right to enter Sky's dorm without his permission and look through his personal belongings. No. It was the actions of a desperate man trying to make sense of why he got his heart broken. Pai has always been someone who pushed and pushed until he got the answers. And why Sky was not giving him the room to explain or understand Pai's POV it's pretty obvious why he did what he did. And yes Sky was distraught at the idea of Pai reading through his journal and he asked it to be stopped but looking back I think Sky needed that push to understand that Pai was not playing and that he's in it for the long haul and that a few deeply hurting words isn't gonna push Pai away. Sky needs someone who would fight for him and with him to make him understand that Pai is not going anywhere. It's a bit of a grey area. But completely understandable. We are all humans and when emotions get the better hold of us we turn blind and let those emotions control us.

I feel like thomas is undermining how much people like the sides. I mean I understand he can’t be constantly making content but he finished filming and editing for the incorrect quotes video in less than two weeks it seems, so he could at least bring more short content with the sides like this. Also the incorrect quotes video is (as of sending this ask) sitting at 56k views, in ONE DAY, while videos that he posted recently without the sides are barely above that and posted weeks before. We like the sides so much that we beat the view count of his last two videos in 14 hours. He should at least do more content with the sides because that’s what we’re waiting for and it’s showing.

okay okay i cant say i disagree that people want sanders sides and also i am people. i want sanders sides. and im happy that so many agree and i do hope that this encourages thomas to make more sanders sides content soon.

however using this as an argument “people want this content, therefore you should make it”.. idk i have doubts on its solidity.

thomas should make sanders sides content because that’s what he has been promising over and over, and because it’s the theme of his patreon, so the promises are in exchange for money. which makes it more important that he keeps them.

otherwise he doesn’t have any other reason to make sanders sides but the fact that he wants to. his sanders sides videos having the most views on his channel shouldn’t be a shackle forcing him to comply. i think. im not totally sure but that’s how i see it. like. i just imagine being a artist and making different things and like maybe thirst traps is what gets me the most views, that doesn’t mean that my followers are entitled to that kind of content constantly, you know? i wouldn’t want that. unless i had settled some mutual agreement with them that they pay me in exchange for that content. which changes things. and which i think is what the patreon is*. so. again. thats imo the real reason thomas owes his fans sanders sides content.

*i know the description of the different patreon tiers doesn’t literally say “pay me and you’ll get more sanders sides on my channel!” but come on. he says at the end of the videos that if we want more content like that we can support him through patreon and the patreon is sanders sides themed. i think the idea is pretty clear. people are paying him to make more sanders sides and the rewards are just bonuses. right?

I have answered it before! but I never really spoke of the right half of the pie chart that unfortunately informs a chunk of my opinion on it outside of the game text (though I wasn’t vibing with it even before interacting with other people into the game when I first played it by myself, the more I see the fandom attitude about it the more negative my impression becomes. I know the two are separate, but I cant deny the detriment one had over the other).

As for the left half especially the chunk where I don’t like how it’s written I talked about it first here (if you follow the notes there’s a couple replies to peolle discussing it which was very interesting) added a bit more here. You may disagree with them and thats ok!, my view is just that and it has honestly been cemented at this point

I think this is the final ask I am answering on this particular thing so I tried to be thorough here I have it blacklisted for a reason and a friend of mine was recently harassed over it so honestly I just keep digging my heels here, I don’t think either the game or the people will change my mind on this regard.

I dont care if people like it and don’t hate them just for liking it, (this goes out in general not to you specifically, you’ve been polite about it) just leave me and everyone else who doesn’t the fuck alone.

hellooo again welcome to my media roundup, where i talk about things i read/watched/played this month! (…and by last month i mean AN ENTIRE MONTH AGO. WOOPS in my defense i got sick [better now]) in july i downloaded tachij2k, which im going to be shilling forever as the best way to read manga on android (apk on github here) this also means that ive been reading like, a Lot of manga lol so i split books + comics into two.

vita nostra by Marina and Sergey Dyachenko: a metaphysics-ish novel about a girl who is blackmailed into going to a magic school. sort of a subversion where (unlike many magic school books) it basically is all about learning and stuff? im kind of a sucker for books written by married couples i think its really cute and also kind of fascinating... um i sort of disagree with its approach to pedagogy but its also sort of about the blood sweat and tears part of learning,, where i usually quit beforehand LOL. got that eastern european hopeless and drudgery (?) but idk i would definitely recommend

the great believers by rebecca makkai: historical fiction that swaps between an art curator-y guy living through the aids epidemic in chicago and his friend in the present who is trying to reunite w her estranged daughter. i really liked this!! super devastating obviously literally scooped me like a melon. very well researched! i hadnt really grasped like. the sheer terror and paranoia? that happened during the aids epidemic before..... thats my lack of contemp history knowledge but it was good i learned a lot. liked the theme of sort of surviving through tragedy and even after.. and the line drawn between the lost generation (war) and yales own exp (EDIT: found sth i wrote after reading the book which said "people are living their own intricate and mundane stories and then the stories of the world smash straight through them")

assassin of reality (vita nostra sequel): sasha knows what she will become--has embraced it, even. but theres always something that can be lost, and the institute still has a heavy hand over her.<or sth like that??? the reveals of the last book kind of make it a hard act to follow and the book definitely felt a lot more abstract... ik some people complained about the romantic subplots but i feel like it gives stakes and grounds everything else, yk? it gives you a thread to hold onto otherwise i mightve given up LMFAO that being said i did enjoy it :3 wondering if what happened to the authors will change the vibe of the next book... :(

you exist too much by zaina arafat: literary fiction about a bisexual palestinian american woman who struggles with her addiction to unattainable love, which has led her to cheat in several relationships. this book didnt really resonate with me.. um i actually ended up writing like 500 words of review for this but its pretty negative. so if youre interested check it out here https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/970847361775591466/1147613251933306921/image.png

movies/tv: room with a view: a young english girl travels to italy and finds love there--but has to choose between that love and a 'proper' life. ok this was fine. idk it was cute and funny sometimes but didnt leave that much of an impression sorry :T

past lives: two childhood friends reconnect, lose touch, then reconnect again. aughjjj those two silent minutes where they were waiting for her ride were so freaking agonizing. really good acting pretty film i just enjoyed it a lot in general! :3 i didnt like the boyfriend that much at first but the conversation they had in bed made them feel like a real relationship, you know? wish theyd had a 3some though maybe it will happen in past lives 2: paster life. idk its like most of the time we dont grow up to be who we thought wed be or do what we thought wed do... but is that really so bad? cant you still be happy? *clutches my head

nimona (movie): adaptation of the comic above! um this was fine i think i was a little disappointed bc the jokes felt a little overplayed/didnt really land? and i was mentally comparing it to the comic but then rereading i was like oh these jokes dont really hit for me either.. so who am i comparing this to LOL i think it would have meant a lot to me in middle school, so maybe it will mean something to middle schoolers now. also ppl fought really hard for it to be made so i feel like i need to give it more credit. my mutuals meta also made me appreciate it more :3 https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/687877902200471552/1126752893312184390/image.png barbie movie: not going to recap the barbie movie sorry. i actually watched this twice it was really fun :3 i wouldnt necessarily say it was a Cultural Milestone or anything but it was cute to see everyone dressed up for the movie.. plus i love velveteen rabbit type storylines. i think ken got the right amount of screentime (its not his movie!) but i loved his dance number and the battle scene :3 and the outfitss idk im not super caught up on the movie scene but it feels like there have been a lot of ugly movies recently. i enjoyed it

the rehearsal: a "reality" show about nathan fielder, who believes that any difficult situation can be rehearsed--and has the budget to put that belief into practice. ok like last year or sth everyone was like omg this show was sooo good but i didnt really get what it was about? but its actually really so interesting.. and the whole blurring between fiction and reality as well as the audience not really knowing which parts are staged and which parts are 'real' is so fun! i was a little bit disappointed when it diverged from the episodic format but that ended up paying off bigtime and was really like idk heartbreaking and funny and all of that. very recommend 👍

video games:

super mario odyssey: (replay)super fucking mario yay!!! in the long run, odyssey didnt have as much like. cultural staying power as botw did (they were both switch launch titles) but its still soooo imaginative and pretty and dense! i love platformers love 2 run and jump.

visual media: he was my brother: psych horror manga about a young girl who tries to grow closer to her recently-deceased brother's partner. omg i had so much fun with this the art is so atmospheric and delightfully creepy...REALLY mind the warnings though. i think i ended up reading all of it in one sitting lmfao

nimona comic (reread): classic villain ballister blackheart is looking for a competent sidekick, but what he gets is nimona, a shapeshifting weirdo kid with secrets. i remember trying to reread this and going wow.... is nimona not as good as i remember? am i old? but it was actually just like early webcomic weirdness nimona is still pretty good! yay :3 i still like the comic better but i respect how they are adapted to their respective mediums and also come from different phases in the og authors life

The story of how I came to know my favourite announcer has a side to her I would have never imagined: oneshot f/f w the premise in the title. whether i write down stuff like this is pretty hit or miss lol and i had to look this one up to rmbr what it was but the art is so cute...simple plot but i enjoyed it :3

crossplay love otaku x punk: romcom where two highschoolers fall in love with the other's crossdressing alter ego (m/m?). i really liked this one actuallyyy its so silly and im also a sucker for love square shenanigans. ok also now that someone else said they think hana/shuumei is endgame so im thinking about it. not the right perspective for this but the crossdressing isnt really overly fetishized or like seen as bad or anything? also ppl make some really funny faces in this

breathless momentum (vol 2+3): r two womanizing musicians find love... in each other!? this is also another one of my favorites :3 the leads are so fun and also music yay music! i really appreciate when a romance is still able to present an interesting story even after the couple has gotten together..

damekoi r: sequel to "please love this useless me," (damekoi is like.. useless passion? i think) which is about a woman in her 30s who spends all her money on her college boyfriend and goes into debt and falls in with her shitty former boss. omg it was soooo cute like i already said its a romance set after the main couple has already gotten together. which is my favorite. but these guys are really fucking weird so they still have a lot of problems. having Another Man who fits michikos type and isnt totally evil come in to destabilize shibata and kurosawas relationship doesnt feel cheap bc their relationship is already not very stable? lol i think the first one is worth checking out if you love pathetic women

mr villains day off: a gag manga about an alien supervillain on his days off. ok this one is pretty much just centered around this fluffy guy who likes to look at pandas but its extremely not very deep but its very cute... i like it... i also like pandas

how do we relationship/so do you want to go out, or (reread): f/f slice of life/drama manga about a girls first lesbian relationship in college. ok this is like "the" yuri manga for me i would recommend it to any fans of femslash its like sort of very realistic feeling? in the way that a relationship can sort of degrade slowly through lack of communication and being different people i think its really great 👍

ichinose familys seven deadly sins: psychological drama. an entire family wakes up with amnesia from a car crash. they dont remember themselves or each other, but pledge to stay together and relearn how to be a family and try to find their memories again. but is it really worth digging up the past...? man this one really goes off the rails. but like in a fun way? has an interesting arc going on rn about like... what allowances do we give, what are we willing to forgive in a stranger vs a family member. pretty interesting!

oshi no ko (catchup): psych thriller about the twin children of a famous idol trying to deal with the legacy she leaves behind. ive been talking about this manga for a while to my friends lol its kind of like riverdale in that its sort of very good, sort of very bad--but overall just super engrossing! which makes sense in a way bc its about the entertainment industry but also about the relationship between an idol and their fan... um not so sure about recent developments though lol. a little bit scared to see where things go

blue period (catchup): a delinquent boy used to going with the flow decides to go to the top art school in japan. yeah blue period is really good. hope this helps 👍lets all never go to art school ever ok ^_^

still sick: f/f about an office lady who finds out her coworker writes and sells yuri doujins (like illustrated fanfiction?) on the side. its a classic! was nice to finally get around to finishing it :3

liar satsuki can see death: thriller about a girl who can see peoples deaths and tries to prevent them--except everyone thinks shes just a liar. ok this is notable bc it has the exact same like adventures and gaybait as shounen but its all girls instead. its good light entertainment! sometimes is um kind of horny for sth about high school girls so ymmv on that one

farming for love: m/m romance about a pharmacist who moves to the country after a bad breakup and meets a ~strong but silent farmer~. pretty average, but fun if youre into that kind of thing! not sure if i would really recommend it lol

chainsaw man 2: set after the events of chainsaw man proper, its an action shounen focusing on asa mitaka, a girl who kinda sucks :3 chainsaw man is so fun yayyy im happy to be reading it again excited to get hit by some more bricks! asa is a wonderful protagonist and fujimoto continues to write comitragedy (?) in a way thats kinda obscene but also very cool 👍rip single father denji

skip and loafer (comic): slice of life about an ambitious but awkward girl who comes from the country to start her high school life in tokyo!!!! and some guy i guess. omg ok this is like the slice of life manga for me rn (the anime is really good! finished recently check it out) its just really warm and nice. autistic girls win always lol truly a comic that makes you feel like there is love in the world

no home: webtoon drama about two guys who are trapped together in a haunted dorm. ok this comic makes me really depressed but its also about people who make each other better despite their best efforts. and also violence and hatred its really really good 👍sad about recent updates though.. i guess maybe the characters werent really meant to be friends in the long term

we only just recently realized we're a system and its so weird to find out that there are people who insist that being a system MUST = suffering. like finding out we were a system was life changing. we're so much happier now and we love being plural. our suffering is /less/ BECAUSE we're a system. i cant imagine this as anything but a good thing (for us, obviously its different for everyone). sorry, im rambling its just thoughts ive been having watching some discourse happening. —ds

To be fair, I think their issue is just being a system, rather than knowing that you're a system. I don't know anyone who thinks being ignorant of being a system is healthier if you already are one. That just leads to a lot more denial and hurts everyone involved.

I, of course, disagree that being multiple is inherently unhealthy too. I think if that were true, you wouldn't see studies into tulpamancers showing positive health benefits, or the proven results of IFS therapy in helping singlets by getting them to view themselves as multiple. I completely understand why some systems have different views and experiences for themsesleves.

But for many systems like ours, I think there's an incredible advantage to being able to have an internal support network to pick you up, and that so often gets overlooked.

Several times when I've been sad or upset, my host would take me into the Wonderland and just call the others to pile around me and hold me. And I can just feel all of their love. And maybe a little awkwardness from Tasha, but she cares enough to participate anyway and that still means a lot. 😊

It's a feeling that I don't think any singlet could ever truly understand or comprehend.

listen people keep calling me a “radical Christian” but I’m not. I’m just a normal Christian. I’m making something up that isnt there. The Bible is like so so clear that practicing homosexuality is a sin, and I believe in the Bible for everything else, so it’s not like I’d just stop believing it here? that doens’t make me “radical” or “narrowminded.” Not the same thing as a satan panic or being a tattoo-anti or something. dont have anything against gay people, just disagree with their actions because God does. Most Christians wish it wasn’t a sin. I know I do :) Practicing homosexuality no different from shoplifting but people dont make it their identity. I never said we’re the target audience for ST, but LOTS of Christians do watch ST, it’s super popular. I say Byler is as invalid as shipping a computer and a walrus cause as a gay ship its a whole category that people just cant endorse, but every normal ship is valid. When you people say, “You should ship Byler,” it reads like, “You should walk away from your faith.” Because those are equal. It can read like bullying. :) So don’t be surprised when you get pushback. If byler were to happen, it’d be seen as a “good” and “beautiful” thing and we’d be expected to be like, “Wow, this is so amazing, gay is so cool” but so many fans wouldn’t be able to get behind it. Ever. Even IF it were somehow a better ship then Mileven, which it’s not. cuz Finn wouldn’t want the character hes worked so hard on to turn into gay :) I love Stranger Things so so much, so I really really hope this beautiful and lovely show doesnt go this route because of the social implications :)

I think you're decontextualizing too much and talking from a privileged point of view. I'm not arguing with the objectivity of what your point is, but it's a very bland flat hill to die on, in my opinion. People can totally agree to disagree, but the whole "good luck living this way" or "it's never gonna happen" is nothing but a shrugging off problems just because they don't belong to you.

Of course trans folks have deeper issues, we've been fighting in a society that, by default, does not accept us and we're forced to explain our very existence on a daily (or whoever cares to, to be honest I dropped that one ball there). So that's why it's important to make people who are coming from said privileged spots (mind, I'm not using the word "privileged" to hop on a high horse and offend anyone) understand how some things are very easy adjustments to make to accommodate minorities. And you don't really need to know/profoundly understand /why/ it's important for them, you can simply trust it is if they say so.

It's like saying "why would I use City money to build a stupid ramp when wheelchair users can struggle a little and learn to climb a 3 inches step" or "why would I stop staring at that person's ass if it's out and it's natural for me to look at it" because you want to be better and it's not that deep.

Yet again, agree to disagree if adding "assigned at birth" is such an inconvenience. No one is word obsessed, but personally speaking I'll bend the usage of my language as much as I can to make sure everyone around me is comfortable and feels safe, I don't care and need to know why.

Yeah damn straight Im shrugging it off, I cant help people who are determined to be unhappy over word choice. Its not my problem, as you said. Everyone elses life will go on as normal, only they will be stuck on this and being unhappy, only hurting themselves.

Changing a language is not "very easy adjustment", not at all. I mean clearly, or else all this fighting wouldnt be happening right? And ok, say English changes. What, now every other language in the world has to change? Oh boy, thats going to lead to a lot of confusion and fighting. Sounds kinda problematic too, to insist other cultures and countries have to change their languages to match the more enlightened English. Colonist vibes.

Lets have realistically attainable goals. Lets focus on what really matters- like violent hate crimes against transpeople. People who are sooo passionate about political correctness and word choice should maybe, idk, do something real to help. Volunteer or work to help transpeople. But see they dont actually care about transpeople, they just get off on the self righteousness and false sense of moral superiority.

Its not about understanding why its important to them, I understand that it is. But unfortunately, reality doesnt give a shit about peoples emotions or whats important to them. (and clearly its not ok to disagree, because then you get labeled as a terf or whatever else new acronym...)

If you want to compare it to that, its more like if people in wheelchairs insisted that all stairs should be banned- ramps only- and you cant call them disabled anymore, everyone else is un-disabled. Society will never build itself around to a minority population, and shouldnt because it makes no sense.

Its not about "doing better" or peoples feelings. This is the main difference in thought process I think- some people view it as a moral social issue, some people view it as a issue of reality and logic.

What is a female? What is a male? A woman? A man? Whats the differences between them? Whats the difference between sex and gender? Are trans people actually transsexual or transgender? Is it even possible to be transsexual since you will never have the desired sex's gametes? Can someone be a female man or a male woman? At some point we need some god damn definitions. We cant just make words mean whatever we want them to.

Why not just have females, males, and transfemales and transmales?? Men, women, transmen, transwomen. That makes way more sense. Why would the majority and a whole ass language change to fit the minority? And even with the use of "cis", "trans" is still in use so attaching "cis" is pretty redundant either way!

I’m just letting the terfs know now that nothing you say is going to make me stop treating trans people with the basic dignity of calling them the right gender. Even trans people I don’t agree with. Calling people by their preferred name and pronouns is free and harms no one and should be viewed as common decency. I don’t give new name and pronouns to anyone just for disagreeing with me because thats crazy and neither should any terfs

Defining being a women as facing oppression and responding to examples of trans women facing the same situations as cis women with ‘but how do you know the motive wasn’t homophobia’ is fucking vile. A woman was assaulted and you are obsessed with what genitals the woman had and if people could magically tell? You need serious help with your lack of empathy

And by the way, my personal experience with terfs as someone who isnt trans but has been viewed as trans is still very much real. Terfs treat people they think are trans like shit and calling me bestie and sweetie isn’t going to change that ive seen how terfs treat people when they think they arent trans when they think they can get away with it

Gender doesn’t matter, sex matching gender doesnt matter, treating people with basic decency is free and isnt hurting anyone, none of you will even touch the fact its harmless and instead keep going on about ‘but im more oppressed’. If you really want to help women, start at understanding that trans women and cis women who you think look trans are also real women. You are excluding people who know what its like to not fit the standards set on women

My experience with terfs today has made me realize yall are desperate to be the scapegoats even if people dont like terfs because of things terfs did to them. I’m not going to forget and my memory wont change just because ‘that doesnt sound like a terf’

Golden wildfire overall thoughts

Spoilers below cut obviously

I had trouble summarizing my thoughts here as for my first time playing a warriors game didn’t have much to say game play wise. I’ve heard that we got semi-competent AI’s this time around although some elements remain lacking, as I’ve seen people have trouble escprting Claude in the chapter you can recuit Byleth and Jeralt

I was nervous going in as anything that isn’t turn based and relies on real-time imput I struggle with as I have delayed reaction, have trouble remembering button inputs and the like, and while I did have issues at the start it was easy enough for even a noob like me to grasp with enough practice. Enjoyable experience I don’t even mind playing the same stage over and over to get S ranks

Ignoring the actual plot for now, I’ll touch on the added elements that were expanded upon compared to the base game of three houses. Holst! I’ll try to leave it be that I liked his inclusion, despite feeling although he’s taking the spot of retainer from Hilda (I get why he does as he’s a brand spankin’ new character and cant just be quitely shoved into a corner especially with the hype behind him. I cared more about his inclusion than I did Judith and I really wanted her to be playable this time around)

and although he kind of plays role of Claude’s right hand man in some cases, at least Hilda keeps her retainer postion in others routes from what I saw so it’s not a big point of contention for me

Count Glocester: this game is an odd one in that it feels like it really tries to get you to like the dads for some reason lmao. Both him and Bernie’s dad I fully expected to hate (I still feel a strong dislike for Bernie’s dad as I won’t forget/forgive him for what he did don’t @ me about it!) but Gloucester was a gray area for me. I didn’t hate him in OG as he did sensible things, joining the empire should they have the power shift and favor them isn’t unwise. Keeping with the alliance should you play VW. His loyalty shifted but we never saw his view on the matter as he didn’t make an appearance and he didn’t disappoint here

Shahid: my greatest fear realized. I to this day think that Golden Wildfire should’ve just been disconnected from plot. People will always complain that he’s either too uninvolved in plot (which I disagree with but opinions so I won’t argue about this point) in Verdant Wind, or too involved (as in, him being in war changes nothing another point I hate, but we’ll just leave it as that and go) there is just no pleasing the entire fanbase as some like his inclusion or just look for ways to hate on him and downplay his role in the story. So why not do whatever the hell you want and have his route completely in Almyra? His route was advertised as dealing with Almyra so why not capitalize on it and just have him in Almyra? (crazy concept I know)

Shahid didn’t really add to Golden wildfire in any meaningful way asides from being apart of Claude’s past and confirming his name is Khalid, something you’d know already if you read interviews. He was just a side quest compared to the main mission and was a nuisance more than a threat which is a shame. They finally shown someone from Almyra who stand by their countries view of ‘Fodlan cowards and Almyra better’ mindset and his hatred of Khalid for being half of both could’ve been something. I didn’t want him to be main conflict from what we got from demo, but I was hoping for something :/

Plot: Oh boy. where to start. I’ll start with what I wanted done differently to get it out of the way

There is too many factions working against each other. Empire, kingdom you know what to expect, it’s very clear cut on where they stand in this war. Empire wants down with the church and to make Adrestia the base of Fodlan and restore it to it’s former glory. Faegust is close with church and is at odds with the empire to put lightly. Alliance is the middleground. Caught between both nations as the main crossing between the two lie with the great bridge. In OG they were very neutral if you didn’t play Golden deer, just doing their own thing and trying to keep itself together. Here not so much

In golden wildfire there’s just to much that it feels very ‘this and onto the next thing’ as stuff comes flying at you from every side

Factions: Empire (start), Kingdom (after alliance with Empire), church (endgame) and throughout the entire story is small factions still; Jeralt Mercenaries + Byleth, Flech after Randolphs death, TWSITD, bandits etc., (was it bandits that caused stir in Ordealia? Or was it TWSITD?? Can’t remember, but I feel it was just bandits, which I thought would’ve been TWSITD. I was hyped since I thought Nemesis came back early as Ordealia was where Nemesis first struck on his trek to Garrag mach if I’m remembering correctly)

The story starts off much like it starts in VW, in that you fight at the bridge: capture essential lands to either A) negotiate with Empire who before made no effort to do so or B) just fight against the empire. And then you just sorta join the empire

I know Claude isn’t pro-church and the game was showing a different side of Claude, but if they were planning on catching his scheming-side I think they failed miserably

the quickest way to end the war while maintaining independence (the stated reason why we joined up with Empire) would’ve been to just take out Edelgard. Hate to say it, but since half of Fodlan sides with the church. Kingdom, the people of Leicester while not devout, rely on the the goddess, VW Claude states many of the roundtable are believers and Marianne, Leonie and Ignatz of GD believe in the goddess, so while split in their support/opposed stance half of Leicester seem to not denounce the practice of Serios. Even if Claude had hidden agenda to take out Rhea, as a strategist you’d think he’d put his personal feelings aside and focus on his dream of unification via peace not war as surpression via force won’t boad well for his dream in the longrun as it’s likely to cause agression than acceptance

It’s why he didn’t join Edelgard in VW, while he doesn’t state he himself personally doesn’t disagree with Edelgards methods, he doesn’t agree with them either as quote ‘it’s not something the world can get behind’. It works short-term and Claude has always been a long-term sort of guy as he wants to bring about a new dawn to Fodlan

Many Edelgard fans would’ve been mad had Claude just chose to fight as Edelgard/Hubert were outnumbered from Claude, Holst and Shez and Claude isn’t honorable enough to declare war and give the empire time to prepare. But the best course of action would’ve been to just end it then and there

But okay, we going to take down church, while not my favorite thing as Claude’s subtle character arc of begrudingly siding with Rhea (I don’t doubt Claude might’ve wanted Rhea dead in OG game, but by the end of VW he does nothing to follow through since he gets questions and answers, when Rhea answers all questions I doubt he still wants her gone) and that’s where the game differs because Claude doesn’t ask questions he doesn’t get answers and remains ignorant of Fodlan’s true history and therefor sticks to killing Rhea

I have no issue with Rhea being final boss. It still in a way makes sense and it contrasts nicely with Claude’s duality of Nabateans V Agarthans

Claude has fought against two major species (?) races (?) that control Fodlan in their own way. Nemesis was heiled as a king of liberation for the Agarthans/humans alike against the goddesses, and while Nemesis was human, becomes something of a deity from taking the blood of Sothis (its why he can use SoTC at all, and Rhea when she expo-dumps at end confirms he did)

Rhea, the main head of the church that monopolizes Fodlan. And the last child of the progenator god

For as many gripes as I have with this route as a whole. There’s no denying the amazing feat of this as nobody else faces off against both legends and come out on top, Edelgard sides with Agarthans, Kingdom unknowingly side with Nabatean (unknowingly since Dimitri doesn’t learn of Nabateans and what the heroes relics are made of) Claude could sway either way

(yes, I know in this game Empire fights against TWSITD, but this ain’t about them and what they do. And I mean, Edelgard doesn’t face off against Nemesis so my point still stands)
