There's a guy in one of my art classes who was going off the other day about how he thinks the owl house is animated poorly. Specifically, he thinks the scenes where characters are just talking don't have enough movement in them. We are in the same year of the same major program (the same ANIMATION major mind you) and we're probably going to be seeing each other a lot over the next several years. I'm trying so fucking hard to be nice and remember that everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but this guy has already used one of his three strikes with me.

#the owl house is a story about interactions bwtween characters and it tells that story mainly through dialogue #the most impotant part of the immersion there is the solid voice acting paired with the characters' body language and facial expressions #it makes sens that the talking scenes dont have much movement because how much can you honestly say that you move while talking #the magic fight scenes are where all the motion is and he admits that those are well animated #and i tried engaging him in good faith by bringing up the counterpoint that Disney has given TOH the short end of the stick #but i can tell that he hasnt actually been following the story and hes just writing it off as a bad show #which would be fine but he has some pretty bad takes about 'bad shows' as well #namely that being underfunded and not given much time doesnt excuse a bad end product #and yeah knowing the backstory behind some of the production choices doesnt make them any less 'bad' #but he frames what he doesnt like as though its morally inferior to what he does #and once something is 'bad' it cant be made better #this is the stupidest post ive ever made because this basically equates to me having an imaginary battle with another autistic person #like some kind of autism proxy war or something except the other person doesnt even know its happening and it all exists in my head #but also this guy is very loud #i didnt want to hear his opinions on the matter but despite sitting on the other side of the room i could still very clearly hear them #beginning my karkat arc or whatever where i feel personally attacked when people dont like the media i like #it could be worse tho #at least this isnt Twitter #ask to rb

What is your hc on boomercup? for me, I think they bonded over the fact that they are the odd ones out of their siblings. Brick and Butch are always together doing things Blossom and Bubbles doing things together, and Buttercup and Boomer are just left out, not that they want to do the things their siblings are doing I also hc that boomer moved out like when he was 15-16 so that just adds to how estranged his relationship with his brothers is whilst buttercup is going out all the time with her friends just so she doesn't have to see how close her sisters are and how estranged she is and I also hc that they both were the last to get together so their siblings mostly blossom and bubbles set up double dates just so they make buttercup and boomer be together

Just rq I feel like with how oblivious the two are they’d be like “why are we literally being dragged on a date” and then ditch their siblings to hang out with each other, said siblings laughing at them when they finally get together like “that’s literally WHY WE INVITED YOU BOTH WE BASICALLY FORCED YOU ON A DATE WITH EACH OTHER” “oh”

Ok so a one-shot I actually had in mind basically touches upon exactly that also loosely inspired by “Pity Party” by Melanie Martinez (full idea beneath the cut), although my main work right now—the fic I have going (you can find it under the tbmg tag I have on this post and my pinned) is Boomer being impulsive to try to impress some girl in a class they all share by trying to be “good” and so asking for help, and given it’s the most-behaved Ruff and the least-behaved Puff and somewhere along the line they’re still classified as a villain and a hero respectively despite not being too different fundamentally and it’s mostly a character study in that aspect while still building their friendship before getting them together. I like to think that as crime lessens in the future the Ruffs mostly stop having contact with Mojo and low contact with HIM providing they’re mainly just tools to them unlike the Puffs to Professor, who he sees as his children and created them specifically to have children in his life. Boomer, in Buttercup’s opinion, is the most annoying since he’s as much of an instigator as she is. For the most part they lose contact with the other groups save for Boomer and sometimes Brick just trying to have a bit of fun by getting on their nerves and eventually only really focus on Buttercup since she’s the only one to still give them a reaction

That, and it’s nice to have someone that can actually match each other’s strength—they mostly get into fights when having a rough day, when they need to either beat the shit out of someone until they feel better or it means violence is still some kind of physical contact that says there’s some kind of care in it, good or bad

This is sort of what I’m alluding to at the start of said fic that I’ll try to delve into further into the next chapter or the one following. During the next chapter is when I have them actually chatting and getting to actually know one another aside from any insecurities to jab at to initiate a fight

I have another hc I’ll put in a rb here at a later date bc it deals with some heavier topics (EDIT: some are featured here)

Alright one-shot idea:

It’s the girls’ 15th birthday, a Saturday, and Buttercup has always been the first to pick on her sisters right and it seems that’s the only way she really knows how to make connections which is a little bit what @milksteaki touched upon in her (edited to use proper pronouns) hcs as far as how she “flirts” with Boomer (not quite the same, it’s close enough), and I doubt her sisters would ever fully understand that

Especially as they get older I have a feeling Blossom and Butters would argue a bit more given they’re probably the two who bear the most insecurities and they’re so alike in sometimes getting on what really makes people tick. Anyway they probably had one the night before bc Buttercup is sometimes just so intense they don’t really know how to take it the way her sisters do and it literally scares their friends, especially when BC’s friend group are boys who roughhouse or are able to match her competitive nature and they mention this to her sisters in private who then try to relay the message to Buttercup or they try to encourage their friends to tell her straight up bc she really doesn’t mean any harm. Either way, Buttercup either didn’t invite her friends for those reasons or was told to invite someone else and she doesn’t have anybody else, that or everyone was busy/had games/whatever else. Blossom asks Buttercup not to “scare the guests” and she, in a bout of teenage angst, takes it as “don’t show up”

After that she’s left alone in the room and her immediate thought is to contact Boomer to play basketball at a park or something—just the two of them, since all he was really doing was either trying to ignore Brick and Butch fight or, providing you’re the second person I’ve known of to hc Boomer moving out as a teenager, he’s doing absolutely nothing and is more than happy to hang out with someone

They chat during the game and sometimes after shots—not like it’s a real game anyway—and Buttercup mentions that she’s been “kicked out for the day” or that she fought with Blossom again, really anything to keep from sharing too many details and it works as Boomer continues to say that he’s so glad to not really be around his brothers like that anymore. While Boomer is never the one really involved with Brick and Butch’s spats, he feels left out and like no one pays attention to him in kind of the opposite of how Bubbles feels

It’s late afternoon when Blossom finds her after realizing Buttercup isn’t in the room sulking or looking for privacy but straight up left, and only then did she realize Buttercup probably had no intention of showing up and felt horrible—they’re a tight-knit group, even with the arguing they both miss their sister terribly and their birthday is never too fun without the third

Another argument starts out since Blossom’s concerned and Buttercup’s pissed and they eventually forget Boomer’s there for a minute—at least Buttercup, until:

“You said you didn’t want me there!”

“I never said that! All I wanted was for the guests to have a good time!”

“Forget them, Blossom—it’s our birthday! I should be able to enjoy the day, too!”

Boomer’s heart sinks as he’s looking between the two as they argue and his voice is softer than he ever expects: “It’s your birthday today?”

Her heart stops when she remembers about his presence and how she was actively avoiding that detail and she can’t even think about a response, Blossom’s as silent as she is, and he just looks hurt that he was never told and about everything that’s already been said, “Why didn’t you tell me it’s your birthday?”

“It’s no big deal, Boomer. If I cared enough, I would’ve said something.”

“I care. The least I could’ve done is, I don’t know, made you dinner or something.”

They discuss to talk about it later since the most important thing is that Blossom wants her there for cake and they’ve refused to even light the candles without her there. They make up, there’s probably some tears, and Boomer is then invited to every party (he also probably makes a little friendship bracelet or a favorite snack as a gift that he brings to her in the midst of the night)

Typically I do tag non-snz/non-kink in general things as such, but I've tended not to tag important content like that with it, *because* I don't want it falling under people's blocked by mistake. The point is for as many people to see it, as possible, in case anyone can actually help. Even if only just a little.

People who have the "not snz" tag blocked are usually just trying to weed out shitposts, vents, etc. and may still care about signal boost content & may even be able to help the person(s) who need it. I completely understand your not wanting to see children - just... at all - on your feed, while you're horny and seeking out kink/fet content, trust me, I personally couldn't agree more. But I at the same time feel that my momentary discomfort (while totally valid btw) isn't even a drop in the bucket compared to the horrors that - for example - this little kid and her family are experiencing only about a 13-hour flight across the world from me.

Drivers I am going to be following the closest this season(as far as on track driving goes):

Charles Leclerc (obviously) George Russell Logan Sargeant

Drivers I will post about if there is anything really notable in a certain race: Fernando Alonso Lewis Hamilton Alex Albon These are the drivers who I am most interested in seeing how they perform on track in 2024. This doesn't mean I am not following my other favorites(like Max and Oscar) but I am probably not going to do in depth analysis. And just because everyone isn't on this list doesn't mean I don't like them, I just don't have time to follow everyone's season that closely.

Obviously if there are any big incidents etc I will talk about it. Especially if Max and RB have any issues(I doubt it but anything can happen during a race)

Still going to be posting about everyone and doing weekly race analysis. But I will always be mainly focused on Charles and Ferrari, and then how these other 5 drivers are doing and what it means for their teams and careers.

Anyway this is my plan for this season, so you're gonna see a lot about these guys(especially Charles, if he gets a podium there is a good chance I forget other drivers exist so you've been warned)

Charles is really the only driver I care about, I want him to do well. When cheering my loyalties lie with Charles and Ferrari. This shouldn't come as a surprise but I am saying it now before racing begins. My analysis will heavily focus on Charles and how Ferrari are managing his season. I would sacrifice any driver for him to do well and win everything ever.

However I am very interested to see what this season has in store for everyone else:

Lewis this season should be interesting because of it being his last season at Mercedes. I'll be interested to see how they play it with him. Also I am hoping that we really see George just shine this year, I think that as Mercedes are going to have to shift towards him he may get more priority which will be interesting.

I'd do Max but if it's anything like last year there won't be a whole lot to say. Like if you run a perfect race what do I do besides cheer?

I always like following a driver in the mid/rear field. I think that Logan's career is at a make or break it point, and with the improved William's car I am excited to see what he does. He has proven himself to be fast, and the gap between F2 and F1 being so big I think with a full season of F1 done he will be fighting more regularly for points.

Fernando is just my guy, if he does something cool I will have to talk about it!

Alex is also a hot driver on the market and his season will probably inform which seat he gets(or if he stays at William's) I like Alex as a driver, and he's also one of the key silly season players.

But just remember, this is a Charles garage first, everyone else is behind him in priority for me.

Aaaaand I'm going on a rant now. People don't really view tumblr users the same way they do accounts on platforms they are active on themselves... I think over there they understand it's nice to see a notif come in and so they do the same for others, meanwhile tumblr is some other plane of existence where we do not require the same treatment and a post can sit on 2 reblogs but have 40K likes on someones instagram on your explore page (this actually happened to me)... and the amount of times I've seen a completely deepfried screenshotted post of mine that's been taken to twitter then to instagram over to a tiktok and then part of a youtube compilation post, one that would sit on less than 100 notes, one that got who knows how many interactions each step of that journey, and none of that response ever reaching me, while I made it. (not to mention the follow button is visible in the screenshot more often than not) Also. I'm out here writing posts first of all mainly for myself but in a way tailored to my bubble, tailored to you, to the people I see in my notifs. You're in the back of my mind when writing it, the fucking tiktok horde isn't. i'm redoing this because i'm losing steam (thanks work) and i'm pulling back on a lot of projects to mostly focus on things that make me personally happy. as is the nature of my brain, i will still jump back and forth between projects when i lose the flow for another, but i’ve narrowed my important wips down to just three main ones. other projects are currently being shelved, or put to the side as half baked ideas that i still need to keep in the oven before i introduce them to anyone formally.

i mainly write fantasy; it’s a broad overarching label that covers all of my interests and it’s my first love in writing. horror and horror adjacent elements always make an appearance in my works. i emphasize complex mlm relationships and male leads, and romance is a great love of mine as you’ll notice from the king of my current wips. worldbuilding is also a great love of mine. i also love writing smut and talking about my characters having sex.

Not to be a chirlie apologist but if you listen to the interviews (especially Italian ones) the team and Carlos do say that they've been working for months to adapt the car to him. I don't remember if it was in Monza or Singapore but Charles said the car has too much understeer now. More understeer is what Carlos prefers. If they've been working to adapt the car to him, of course that penalizes Charles a little bit. Ferrari can't produce two completely different cars, they have to be similar. They can change the set up a little bit, and they do so to adapt the car to every different circuit, but they can't produce two completely different car structures. So when the drivers have different driving styles, one of them gets penalized. In the beginning of the season it was Carlos (by his own admission, he couldn't find his footing with the car, and ended up off track while Charles flew by). So the team started working hard to suit the car to him. Charles's performance declined a bit because of that, but he's a very adaptable driver so at the end of the day wasn't penalized too much. The real problem is that after the break, with the new upgraded parts, the car started eating the tyres like never before. That decline coincided with Ferrari saying they've been working to help Carlos, so now in people's minds the cars' poor performance comprared to RB is because of him. Let's be honest the fact that Leclerc can keep up with the Red Bulls and even keep Perez behind (while he gained 1 second per lap!) is pretty incredible. I don't know what Ferrari have done to that car but it's a pity. I used to hope that once they fixed the engine reliability, it would all be all right...

hi! ok let's talk about it.

i'm no f1 engineer(!), but what i understand from reading all i could about what goes on with designing a car and upgrading it, what i have been explained from people who know a lot more about the technicalities than i do, and also what i can gather from my memory which luckily is still pretty unbiased is that:

1) when designing a f1 car the engineering teams devise a "philosophy" behind it: they're purposefully building a car with certain features, already theorizing how it will perform and which problems could arise and could be improved, mainly on sims. then, when they gather actual data from testing and races the work on upgrades can develop with back and forth between the factory and the team on track. the upgrades should improve the original idea, following its flow, which is a lot more complicated than it sounds, since every change they bring must not break what already works, and instead has to strengthen their weaker features. and since it already is a delicate job, do you see them scratching all of their knowledge of the car and their data just to go on another direction? when the car was already performing very well? they literally waited for the 6th race to finally bring some upgrades just because they wanted to gather as much data as possible and be sure they understood the car!!

2) (for this point i will quote parts of this italian article that sums up the upgrades on the f1-75 from barcelona till singapore) the thing is that ever since monza everyone kinda forgot that the upgrades ferrari brought worked... pretty well, actually? the first set where mainly about fixing porpoising and then aerodynamics, since the deficit with straightline speed was the main issue. and this is what they will keep working on for the entire season, changing floors to get more groundforce and (a lot of) rearwings to try and get at rbr's drs speed. and they hardly lost anything performance wise. instead i'd say these were the races where the f1-75 and the rb18 fought more closely, with the ferrari often being quicker. and, coincidence, these are also the weekends where carlos gets closer to charles.

3) “At first it comes from Carlos’ ability to analyse what the car does and what he needs from it,” said Mekies. “And then not only is he able to feel it, but he’s able to communicate it to the engineers and slowly we have been able to transform that into actions in terms of the way we set up the car, and in terms of the way that perhaps we tweak some of the developments and that’s how it happened." (MEKIES EXPANDS ON WHAT HAS CHANGED FOR SAINZ FOR HIS IMPROVEMENTS)

This interview dates 11.08.2022, a week into summer break, the last gp being hungary, where charles' p1 was (again) lost due to a strategy blunder. But not due the car's lack of performance.

up to then, the f1-75 was very much keeping up with the rb18. the difference was that carlos was also closing up to the top. he's been pretty quick since monaco, and in very good form in montreal, silverstone, austria and france. and charles' performance was still as great as ever when compared to the rivals, so no sign there to the growth being due to updates made just for carlos' benefit (tweaking is the key word). he could have benefitted from them but it's not like they made them just for him. the car got faster. and carlos finally got comfortable driving it, due to more practice but most importantly the job on the set-up and simulations (we also know that charles helped him as well, and they often exchanged notes and worked together).

a week ago i think(?) came out an italian interview with charles who, when asked where carlos is better than him, answered "the set-up on the car, and working on the sim" which was kinda ... met with laughz from the chirlies. which is what made me a little mean and prompted my lil post calling them out for not understanding cars. lmao. i'll just say, if you don't get how important the set-up is, i'll just remind you how it ended for charles in france for getting it wrong. there isn't a trace of mockery in charles' answer because knowing how to improve your car's performance is a critical ability for every single racing drivers, and it is very well known that it has always been one of carlos' strength. he studied, he trained, he conferred with his engineers, he got better. no mistery.

(also, i'll add my unpopular opinion here which is that...... carlos wasn't doing like, catastrophically badly like everyone made it look like. until monaco he only got 1 dnf out of his own fault, and his lowest result was a p4. he made mistakes and wasn't doing as good as charles, but that was far from a performance that needed an intervention from the engineers to "build the car around him." at least that's my opinion.)

4) now let's talk about beloved f1-75 flopping. what happened? summer break, then spa and! TD39. we already knew that spa (and monza) would be hard since the circuit didn't fit with the f1-75 main strengths. but zandvoort should have been easier to take, but still it wasn't. at all. ferrari came back from the summer with a BIG problem with tyre deg (which is actually something they've struggled with the entire season, on a more manageable scale) which could or could not be a result of the TD39. according to binotto, it's not that, but it's simply that redbull made more upgrades, so they've gained more while we stayed at the same point as before (since we're still ahead of every other team). i have an opinion on that which is...... that i don't agree with it lmao. but if i expanded on that it would lead on the theorical more than the factual, so i'll leave my opinion to myself. we also know that from singapore onwards they've been testing upgrades for the 2023 season, so i think that some of the loss of comfort is also due to that. (both of them said that it's a lot trickier to drive since the summer break)

5) last point which is a question to YOU but... i don't get what do you mean when you say that charles' performance declined because... i think i must have missed that?
