Why put the accountability on them? Especially when they have proved that they are either not worthy of your trust or lack basic sensibilities. If you are tired of childish behaviour, then step away from childish people. Just how much will you try to school them? If you are tired of late night thirst trap texts asking “do you wanna come over tomorrow?” don’t respond. Text them the next day in the afternoon and say “I’m good, thanks for asking. You?”. If they reply saying “point taken” you can continue talking. My point really is though that at this stage of your life, you need to downsize  — downsize on the bullshit, on the dissatisfying, on the unnecessary. Would have loved to not have to use these adjectives for people but what to do? It is what it is. Petites misères de la vie humaine. Little miseries of human life. But really, though, you have the power. Take charge. Not of others but of your own life. You are not a dead fish to go with the flow. And you are not a disinterested bystander in your own life. You are not somebody that things just happen to. You are many things, but you are not passive. Never passive. Active voice, active choices.

when i saw this post about @ihopeyoubothstaysafefromharm making himself a new bracelet, i immediately did the across-the-internet equivalent of when a pet whines at the door to be let in and begged joy to trade bracelets with me. (you can see evidence of this in the notes on the post 😂)

and finally!! finally the day has come where my half of the trade has arrived across the ocean to adorn joy's wrist! so now i can make a joy appreciation post and talk about it.

joy is one of the wisest, kindest, most compassionate, hopeful, and joyful people i’ve ever met, while still being completely grounded and thoughtful in all that positivity. he's just so smart and capable and accomplished? and then on top of all that, he’s the most incredible artist and writer?? just wild that all of that is contained in one person! truly, it’s been the honor of a lifetime to get to know him and get to call him my friend and husband!! (and to not cause mass chaos and confusion, we’re not legally married, but in our hearts? 100% now and always) when people say they have “a better half,” i totally get it now! joy is the cooler, smarter, more creative half of my brain that i’m always striving for!

and so i tried to take all of that love and adoration and cram it into a bracelet. i picked stones to make a subtle gradient of trans pride flag colors and all you fellow fans of joy’s art will recognize some of the most important elements: the red thread and the koi fish and all the meaning they represent in joy’s art. of course they were of the utmost importance to include!! there are a few other details that i’ll leave for joy to know (and share if he wants), but it was such a blast to put this together for him and finally get to see him receive and wear!! and of course, i fully engineered a way to join the both of us with an actual red thread because i made myself a complementary bracelet too. take fate into your own hands, literally.

You looked so mesmerizing, so breathtakingly beautiful he couldn’t imagine a reason why no one had swept you off your feet already.

he planned on giving you the black felt box filled with a shiny new necklace in it for a birthday gift, but it somehow now felt inadequate. You deserved the world and he couldn’t give that to you.

his shoes hit the floors of the living room and as you turned to him a smile uncontrollably made its way onto his face. maybe when he built up the courage he could make you feel as special as he thought you were, but that may take longer than you think.
