Here’s a brain scratcher aniki, besides Kiryu and Kazuma-San what kind of parent would each of the main cast be. (Just the major players from the games IE protags and antags. You can include Ichiban’s party to!)

let's see...

Majima: good! but irresponsible parent. would spoil immensely, compensates for things he can't do or messes up. very open to whatever the kid wants/thinks but can be unintentionally harsh when scolding. promotes living to the fullest but will worry to the expense of his health when he can't be around to take care of things. will be overbearing with good intentions but suffocating.

Saejima: very nurturing and attentive but tough, a bit overbearing on the life lessons and shit like that. would leave a child to their own devices often to encourage individual growth and accepts failures well, very patient. would be hard to get a read on though normally, leaving a kid to guessing how he's feeling/doing, making his parenting feel a bit lonesome.

Nishiki: great with kids in a cool uncle sort of way. would be friends with his kids vs being their actual parent as he worries a lil too much about what they think of him. spoils them a lot, especially if it makes him look pretty great in front of others. doesn't handle problems very well and has only the basics of advice for a struggling child - would have to ask others what to do.

Ichiban: good parent but bumbling. would try his best to be a good dad but realistically good vibes and idealism isn't always enough. would rely on others for help with kids, especially if it's something he can't provide himself. would teach them to be kind and open minded, careful to not be too strict. would prolly relate the most to kids, being a child at heart himself though his personality would make it seem like he's not taking things seriously.

Ryuji: would raise a kid to be just like himself, brutish and confident. the type to be like, let's go to the junkyard and smash car windows for fun. values traits that align with his own like strength and a strong will - would be disappointed in anything he'd deem too whimsical. would think it's funny if his kid rebelled against them and teach them the hard way that it wouldn't fly but also encourage them to keep trying to be their own person anyway.

Daigo: would be a good parent to the best of his ability, compensating for his own experiences (Dojima lol). very patient and a good listener, excels at consoling to where his kid would feel very comfy telling him anything. can be a bit too soft and unintentionally ignorant to underlying problems a child might have. a child might feel guilty towards him for his kindness and oppositely *not* want to dump their worries on him. sometimes plays too much a teacher than a parent.

Mine: no lmao actual answer: he'd suck ass. he'd be a tiger parent, strict and cold. growing up is about accomplishment and being self sufficient. if a kid wants his time, better schedule an appointment. would teach a kid the harsh realities of life whilst ignoring the good stuff to temper expectations. punishments are often harsh. doesn't really relate to his kid other than they both breathe and blink.

Akiyama: do I even gotta say it ksdlagjlds he would be *squint* alright at parenting in the same way it's alright to drink bleach. he's there and he exists but is irresponsible. can't be counted on to make important dates on time or remember things a kid needs. frequently has to ask for help (Hana). will 100% give a child secondhand smoke and be skeazy about the types of life lessons he'd not necessarily teach outright but would imply with his behavior.

Tanimura: I don't got much of a read on him tbh but being that he's got a gambling problem, I feel like that would have some play in childcare lol, that being he's prolly a bit inattentive until it comes to money. he's a bit skeavy so he would prolly turn a blind eye to his kid doing something wrong and enforces rules poorly. would at least instill good teachings to help others, tho how, would be sketchy.

Shinada: he'd do pretty well I think if he had a stable living situation. he's very passionate about his interests and would share that with his kid, and if the kid wants to do their own thing, he'd encourage following that too. being goofy, he'd be a fun dad. I'm prolly the only motherfucker on earth who ships him with Milky-chan so I think they'd do really well as parents who come from rough lives trying to make a better one for their kid.

Sagawa: including him cuz he's my fav villain. he defo seems the type to have a kid somewhere with an estranged partner who left him first. he's caring, in a sinister type of way, one that makes you feel like you're being manipulated but not sure enough to say. "he knows what's best" and would for sure turn a child against his partner. in an alternate sense, he could also lead a double life, being an actual decent person to his family but a dickhead on the side. very psychopathic.

After he became chairman, Daigo grew into a much more level-headed person, he thought more logically and more of a decent person rather than a brute. It wasn't easy for him, but he finally managed to learn better ways to approach you. However, you were always very cautious around him since he has been so cruel in the past, he knows. So he started to pay attention and he is trying to get closer to you. And he is making progress by spending time with you even if it's a fraction of time. Let's say even if he tries to spend time with you it doesn't work because you can't really seem to love him anymore because of his past. Then he got that part covered, you are now dating one of the strongest Yakuza clan in Kamurucho, hell even if you leave the city, the Tojo clan's reputation and influence is everywhere, so no matter where you are you're always going to be found, plus is it not for the better if you stay with him rather then leave? If you leave Daigo you won't have any protections against other Yakuza rivals, plus he is a whole new man mostly for you.

And since he is the new head of the Tojo clan he will have many men on his side, and one of the most loyal of them all is Mine. he is absolutely devoted to Daigo and will do anything to keep him happy, so if Daigo requested him to set up cameras, Mine would obey his command without hesitation. Daigo need information about the friend you were hanging out with? Bam, he has all of their records, their family, their last hospital check, their messages, whatever Daigo needs is there. Now Nishki was never afraid to show his love, it was like he was always in that honeymoon phase in the relationship, always bringing you flowers, you and him going out on walks or him giving them chocolates, you kept on telling him many times that he shouldn't do all of this, but he disagrees. Now if we go the Nishki who is a different man than before, it's now like talking to a different person, Nishki before was a romantic wherever you went, he would always give you kisses and whatnot, but our blood-stained Nishki doesn't, don't get him wrong he loves you dearly but now it is a WHOLE different level. Remember you don't want to live in the same house as him? Too bad, he doesn't even ask the question, your'e already at his house with high security, so make sure that you will never leave. Nishki had been through hell and back, losing his brother, being compared to him, swallowing his own pride in front of his men, and the cherry on top, the passing of his dead sister. Nishki grew more paranoid, he became selfish he is like a feral dog protecting a bone or such, he is fuming and ready to blow someone's head off if they EVEN think to take you away from him, his keeping you captive is like a defense mechanism after all the things he went through, screaming and yelling won't do anything, it is much better to be quiet and do whatever he wants rather then be starved or slapped by him.

Ah, Kiryu. The Dragon of Dojima is such an honorable and respectable person, the art that was placed on his back signifies the power and strength he holds, everyone knows his name in the city of Kamurucho or the dark underground, he is what a man wants to be, strong, respected and cold- wait is that him with a person holding their hands?! And in a closer look, HE IS BLUSHING?!!!

Jokes aside, our main man, Kiryu is an absolute oddball, he's a strong and composed man and can manage to have a clear line of thinking even in a dire situation, but whenever you near, or even hold his hands, inside of him, he is FLUSTRED, let us just hope that you're oblivious to that or else this man will go in a blushing state, good thing that Kiryu doesn't show to many expressions and just shows a stoic one. Like you said noonie, he really tries to show that he really loves you, Kiryu knows that he can be kind of bad when it comes to FULLY expressing what he wants to express, so he does a lot of acts of service, he regularly listens to your problem he even tries to learn how to cooks so you won't ever eat anything unhealthy.

Now if this is the time when Kiryu has Haruka, that's when things start getting interesting. Kiryu desires a normal life, especially a domestic one, he doesn't care who wheres the apron not, and he doesn't care at least you're happy, heck he would be content if he is a stay-at-home husband, and while you work, every time you went back home after a long day you would smell newly cooked food and steamed rice ready, while Haruka helps Kiryu with preparings the plates, but of course if you want to take a bath first, the tub is already filled with warm water its really your choice. Kiryu trusts you, that you won't go away or leave cause of Haruka, You heard what happened to Haruka and Kiryu knows your kind heart and in that moment knew that you won't ever leave Haruka or him, such thoughts could make you feel guilt for the rest of your life., you'll be another parental figure to Haruka no matter what.

Still, on the idea of domestic Kiryu, I would imagine all three of you go to a family outing or some such, maybe a weekend when you guys are in the park eating picnics or even the nearby arcades, both Haruka and Kiryu are gaming nerds. If ever Haruka wins a plushie from a vending machine, she will give it to you and the scene always makes Kiryu's heart flutter since Kiryu is a family man, if there was someone who would be foolish enough to hurt his family (even if you guys aren't married yet) he will show them that living in the Yakuza for many years showed him many different punching techniques…

Now…for my favorite old man……

Devotion. That's one word to describe Kashiwagi when it comes to your love.

You know how much he cares because even after all of those years with you he never lost the way his heart beats faster or his cheeks burn red, because of you, because of what you did and made of him, it is hard to imagine the day where he doesn't feel your presence, your heartbeat in his ears. When you first met him he was cold, and his piercing gaze was frightening, but with some kind of miracle both of you decided to see each other, he became softer, of course, but is still cold and stern when it comes to the Yakuza business, but at home or whenever yall meet, hell ease up his worries. I highly doubt that anyone would even dare stand where ever you are when beside you is a menacing man, who they do NOT wanna fuck with. He is very overprotective of you especially when he is a high-ranked officer, so there are going to be many enemies just waiting to strike against you.

And oh lord, whenever you do such domestic things like, make him coffee, give him his bento, or even kiss him after a long day doing shady business, he will just become putty on your hands, your hands are like magic to him and I feel like his men know about you, so whenever you visit Kashiwagi whenever he's in a bad mood he will immediately lighten up keep his voice to a minimum to not scare you.

After he left the Yakuza, he would do more acts that he had to restrain because he was in the Yakuza, most of the time he would kiss you (on the cheek only) when there were few people around. You also bet your ass that yall are gonna get married, he always dreamt of marrying you when you both became a thing muttering your name with his last name or better yet both of you having kids of your own. So when both of you were married he was crying his eyes out man, seeing you in a white shiromuku (traditional Japanese wedding dress) just comforts something in him and the ring on your finger signifies the love you both have for each other. If you ever have a kid (biologically or adopted) he would give them all the love there is, he might be a stern father but he has his sweet and soft moments with them (I find him having a girl). Like Kiryu, he is a family man, and whoever touches his small family must know that this man was in the Yakuza and knows his way to pummel people to the ground.

INFINITE WEALTH SPOILERS IN MINI RAMBLE AHEAD!!!!!!! YEAH!!!! LIKE FINAL CHAPTER SHENANIGANS!!!!! REALLY BAD!!!!!!!! YEAH!!!!!! (and also touching on y2 and y6 and gaiden i guess but come on)

Been mulling over IW's story since I beat it, and while there are still aspects I'm very much still mixed on, one thing I've surprisingly found to actually only be better after thinking about it even more was the final boss in Ebina. And yeah yeah he could have used a tad bit more screentime, but I think the stuff he does have and all the stuff he symbolizes are really well written. In Gaiden, we dealt with the manifestation of the yakuza itself, and now we face off against the manifestation of all the wrong the yakuza's done. Despite Kiryu's best efforts, there's so many lives he's endangered. So much death that follows him and those around him, and he's completely aware of this. Kiryu shows a lot of self-destructiveness throughout the series, like in Y2 where he gives himself up in a practically suicidal draw with Ryuji, or in Y6 where he so readily throws himself away at the first chance he gets. I still remember Haruka's line in that game: "Don't look so satisfied about this!". And especially in IW, knowing that cancer's got him that much closer to death's door, he's still so ready to throw himself away. But now that's he's forced to rely on his allies, now that he gets to really reflect on all the friends that he's made throughout the years, now that he has Ichiban telling him to really LIVE, he's done running. Kiryu sees a lot of himself in Ebina, because he knows the look of a man who's hellbent on throwing himself away.

Ebina knows he's fighting a losing battle. He leaves Sawashiro alive and he repeatedly begs for Kiryu to kill him at the end of the fight. Look at the demon on his back: he knows he's falling into hell, and he's intent on dragging the reason why he's falling down with him. And that's why it's so cathartic seeing Kiryu beg to him at the end. He's breaks down, seeing the personification of all of the sins the yakuza, and he cries out apologies. Because that's what this fight is about. Atonement, against a vengeful spirit. A breaking of the cycle, further hammered in by the choice to name Ebina's moves after chakra points ("Pierce the Muladhara, Cripple the Manipura, Wheel of Samsara"). The theme The End of Denial is such an amazing choice for this too, a much more sorrowful, reflective track than most of the other final boss themes. It's not just a cheeky bit of "look how far we've come" that they've included the original Yakuza's intro guitar in here, it's Kiryu directly reflecting on running away. Running away from the Fourth Chairman spot. Running away from Daigo and the clan. Running away from his family. Running away from all the wrongs he's done throughout the years. And now that Kiryu finally finds himself ready to confront it all, even if it's in his twilight years, there's not a chance in hell he's gonna let it slip past him, as he takes Ebina head-on. I couldn't disagree more with the notion that Ichiban should have been the one to fight him. Despite it being his half-brother, this just isn't his fight to take.

It's why this line means so much. Teary-eyed, he begs the man he just punched down for forgiveness for everything the yakuza has done, and he begs for him to LIVE, to not throw himself away the very same way Kiryu has. And this is how he breaks the cycle.

This is how Kazuma Kiryu finally gets to live again.

(its cool if its a Japanese source I'll force myself to learn to read it) Or just any thoughts on kirin and Mine in general I've been going ham on stupid kirin-Mine AU lately and its relevant fhdkfd

I'm glad you asked! Unfortunately I'm not positive I saved any of my sources... anywhere, but the good news is I do remember most of my findings in detail and have been itching to post about them. So! I'm taking this opportunity to analyze Mine's tattoo top-to-bottom.

And I'm also approaching this as a sort of redemption arc, because a lot of interpretations of Mine's tattoo out there are based on what I wrote on the wiki. It's not that they're incorrect per se, but there is so much more to it than what the wiki currently goes into, and I'd like to share that with you all today.

I'll start off with some official statements, and because it comes up later, establish the original version of the tattoo Horitomo designed is actually this version with green fur (pictured below):

Like the word kirin-ji, this is a design that evokes the image of a genius. To be honest, the majority of depictions give kirins the face of a dragon, but with a composition like this where it's soaring upwards, you risk ending up with a tattoo that looks too much like Kiryu's. So I looked into some older material, and while it's not too common, I went with a type of kirin that more closely resembles a deer. — Horitomo

It wants to rise above, but chooses to put itself second and use its talent and intellect to support the "king"—the kirin suits Mine, doesn't it? So, with that general concept in mind, we went through several designs done in pencil, went back and forth on various aspects, until we settled on the direction we wanted to take. And after that, the detailed version of the design was produced. — Masayoshi Yokoyama

With Yokoyama's comment, it's clear what the core meaning of his tattoo was meant to be from the beginning. Because a Like a Dragon tattoo represents more than just a summation of who the character is as the audience knows them or their role in the narrative, but who they were before joining the yakuza, why they joined the yakuza, what the motivation was behind their choice of subject, how elements of the tattoo reflect on characters who share the same elements (and vice versa), and how the meaning the tattoo evolves over time in relation to the character's fate.

So my main... misgiving, let's say... with popular interpretations of Mine's tattoo is that they focus solely on Daigo without examining how it relates to anything else. Again, partly my fault, I'll cop to that, but this is an issue with a lot of analysis of Mine as a character... and it's a little frustrating, isn't it? It is for me. But enough complaining, it's showtime:

Some notes design-wise: the decision to portray Mine's kirin as deer-like rather than dragon-like specifically to distance him from Kiryu says a lot about their characters to me. Because Mine is, in a lot of ways, "the complete opposite, or antithesis, of Kiryu." (Yokoyama) But the kirin is ultimately in the "dragon" family of mythological creatures; as such, Mine, no matter how much he tries to set himself apart from Kiryu, will always parallel Kiryu. This is exactly what I was talking about with regard to how tattoos come to change in meaning over time; it's not insanely prophetic, it's something that makes complete sense in-universe, makes sense for Mine to get at the time he got it, but it also ends up representing his relationship with Kiryu so well. The fact the kirin is in the "dragon" family of mythological creatures, in combination with the original green coloring, is also notable. Because the dragon depicted in Daigo's tattoo is the same shade of green.

There are multiple "species" of kirin, denoted by the color of their fur, which corresponds to one of the five phases (五行, gogyō), originating from the concept of wuxing in Chinese philosophy. The word "kirin," strictly speaking, refers to kirin with yellow fur and corresponds to Earth, which is associated with stability, hard work, ambition, and stubbornness. Kirin with green fur are known as shoko (聳孤, shōko) and correspond to Wood, which is associated with luxuriant growth, vitality, strength, and co-operation. Speaking of the five phases, that also ties into the concept of the Four Gods, a motif explored with the protagonists of Yakuza 4: Kiryu is the Azure Dragon, Akiyama is the Vermillion Bird, Saejima is the Black Turtle, and Tanimura is the White Tiger, representing Wood, Fire, Water, and Metal respectively. The "Fifth God," representing Earth, is widely considered to be a kirin. This doesn't really relate to anything though, just food for thought for the Protagonist Mine enjoyers (me <3)

A great deal of the meaning behind Mine's tattoo is etymological in nature. The word "qilin" itself represents a duality: "qi" refers to a female kirin, "lin" refers to a male kirin, and "qilin" refers to the species as whole. The kirin is said to embody yin and yang. And I think this aspect works perfectly with who Mine is as a character often torn between two extremes. He, like the kirin, has the capacity for both benevolence and ferocity, and like the kirin, only becomes violent in retaliation to violence or out of a sense of protectiveness. Also, in a very literal sense, Mine has both Yin cards and Yang cards in Ryu Ga Gotoku Online, which very few characters do due to their contradictory nature. As Horitomo mentions, the design has basis in the word "kirin-ji" (麒麟児, child prodigy, lit. "kirin child"). A lot of people already know this (anyone who's read this post certainly does, at any rate), but fewer are familiar with the origin of the term. In Ancient China, there was a belief that the appearance of a kirin heralds the birth (and death) of a gifted son with a promising future, beliefs held around Confucius being a famous example. Of course, this relates to Daigo in terms of the association with leaders, but it also relates to Mine himself, who views his younger self as a sort of diamond-in-the-rough, a "gem shining brilliantly by the wayside." This reinforces that the tattoo is not just a meta representation of him, but directly relates to how he views himself. Additionally, the kanji that comprise "shoko" read as "soar" (聳, shō; as in, to rise above something) and "orphan" (孤, ko) respectively.

On that note, kirin are capable of flight, which can obviously be connected to his ambition ("rising above" his origins), his theme, and his method of suicide. They hover off of the ground so as to not trample blades of grass, and are often depicted as walking on clouds (which are, of course, depicted in Mine's tattoo). Some kirin even have wings!

Circling back to the note about violence to talk about the kirin's ability in battle: kirin are ferocious combatants and known to have a very strong hind kick; Mine mainly uses his legs to fight. I believe his "red heat state," where he's at his most aggressive, also represents the fire surrounding his kirin. Kirin may use flames to attack. Kirin are also thought to be the only creatures who can defeat a dragon, and I would argue Mine is the only final boss who even manages to come close to defeating Kiryu. I actually would even argue he did win, since he had more stamina left.

Just reiterating for the sake of being thorough, but as mentioned in the ask, kirin are thought to be at their most volatile and at their most powerful during a full moon. You only see it in one shot, but the finale of Yakuza 3 does in fact take place under a full moon. Mine is, of course, shown to be both of those things in the finale.

There's also some sort of association between kirin and thunder/lightning, at least in popular media. Mine and his tattoo are depicted surrounded by lightning in one of his cards, and the "Hakuho Clan Pin" item that came out at the same time has an ability called Roaring Thunder. I'm not sure why this is the case. Perhaps it's to do with the kirin's association with the sky, since thunder and lightning are celestial phenomena.

i don't know if this is too niche or personal, but as someone also from a "doomed" city with a perpetually grim future, i really love how RGG has portrayed kamurocho. in tachibana's penthouse, we're introduced to it as a beautiful glittering cityscape. when kiryu hangs out with nishiki, it's a maze of rundown buildings but the best ramen, if you know where to look. it's got a wide network of homeless people who see all. it's got scumbag billionaires and it's overrun with gang violence. yet every substory shows us NPCs with full lives despite kamurocho always threatening to collapse.

and it always is in danger. the tojo clan is ripping it apart for both kiryu and makoto in Y0. it blows up once in YK2 and almost does it a second time at the end. kiryu always comes back because some motherfucker is like "the tojo clan and kamurocho are in danger, we need your help". that's like, what it feels like? shit will happen on the news and it'll always be personal. no matter how far away you move - for kiryu, okinawa, nagoya, etc - it always holds on. it never leaves. this city and its doom will always be wrapped tightly around your heart.

but everyone's seen a tragic city. it's all over our stories. but kamurocho, despite it all, is still so lovingly rendered. kiryu can duck into alleyways and find a burger joint. he can buy ridiculously specific things at don quiote. he can play pocket circuit, he can go to arcades, he can play pool. it's a shithole of a city overrun with gang violence and poverty but it's still so full of life. despite everything you can still race cars and buy gifts for pretty women and invite your friends to karaoke. despite everything, you can still live.

like yeah, the devs probably didn't mean to appeal to this incredibly specific heartache, but i love kamurocho so much anyway. every time i run around it, it feels like home. it's a fucking disaster but it's my, and so many other characters', disaster.

After their fiery performance, the fimmies arrived back in their hotel. Not long after arriving Yunjen called Porter, Chaewon called Aaron and Sakura texted Daigo. “Yet you play violent video games?” Daigo laughed before replying realizing he had been caught

“You are so dramatic,” she teased. Daigo smiled as usual Sakura knew the exact words and tone to put him at ease with her.

Kkura dismissed her multitude of clones as she sat next to Daigo. She put her hand on top of his and felt a proud feeling of ownership. She knew Daigo was hers and that gave her more confidence than she realized. In his support she found strength. She leaned into him and the two fell asleep exhausted.

The next day Daigo woke up to a Sakura chatting with a male voice. At first, he was on alert until he heard the Kkura was fine.

Ryuji and Daigo - important RGGO info

So, another important insight RGGO gave us is about Daigo and Ryuji’s meeting prior to k2.

It goes like this: Ryuji’s men were acting like shit in Kamurocho, so Daigo beat them up. Ryuji was really impressed by that and invited him over for a personal fight. Mom told Daigo not to go, but he went anyways. When he arrived, Ryuji was very nice and welcoming, and invited Daigo for a takoyaki da- I mean, dinner. But Daigo felt really demeaned and flipped.

Long story short, he got his ass kicked, and, while he was laying there unconscious, Sengoku (the Omi guy that owns the golden castle) planted than one gun on Daigo. And because of it he was taken in for the armed assault.

So yeah. Ryuji never framed Daigo, and most likely didn’t even know it happened.

– We fully believe that Ryuji let his men go to Kamuroch to provoke a war or something, but, just like in the main game, other patriarchs just used his rampage for their own purposes.

With Daigo Ryuji was clearly disappointed that he wasn’t that strong.

Like, come on. Now it’s just offensive.

– Daigo was on his own gig of being not polite and bitey back then. But he did hurt himself more than Ryuji with this lash out. And it left such a mark on Daigo, he was still recovering from it even after prison, self doubting and miserable.

When things got in motion, he was worried for his mom in the middle of this shit, also got flashbacks to his encounter with Ryuji, and went to drink it away with shaking hands.

Before he himself went to prison, Daigo was hyper-focused on becoming stronger than Kryu. He helped around the city, was training for some years… Kiryu became his loss and his enemy.

Daigo even went to visit Kiryu in prison, and asked “why did you kill him?”. And Kiryu, the master of words, said it just sorta happened. And that Daigo should be careful, because after this things in Tojo will be shaky.

And they sure were.

We just can’t stop thinking, how Kiryu covering for Nishiki drastically changed Daigo’s life, and sent him chasing to become stronger than “Dragon of Dojima” (what a joke, this name, huh).

Daigo blamed Kiryu for sure. For a long time.

Fond of fluffy cats in particular and will coo at them about how beautiful their long fur is. Kittens are iffy for him, he's kind of worried he'd step on them? For some reason? Loves watching you play with them though.

Tanimura Masayoshi

Loves animals, especially the kittens. Engages with the string or stick toys a lot and makes little mews back at the kittens when they talk to him. Would even get down on the ground just to be at the cat's level.

Ryuji Goda

More of a dog person but the ice starts to break once a kitten tries to clumsily climb its way over his broad shoulders. He's annoyed for a split second before seeing how happy the moment makes you. From then on, he's steady as a mountain as the kitten fumbles its way from his right shoulder to his left. Maybe he can get into this cat thing after all?

Nishikiyama Akira

Kind of follows your lead, although he does love to give the cats treats. He does this cute thing where he'll pick out two cats that are most like the two of you.

Daigo Dojima

Didn't have pets growing up so he's pretty unfamiliar with what to do around cats. It's quite adorable to see the sixth chairman of the Tojo Clan gingerly hold his hand out for a curious cat to sniff, eventually gently scratching behind the cat's ears and gently smiling to himself.

Mine Yoshitaka

Not much of an animal person but he does love to admire the elegant appearance of a cat. Doesn't really go for kittens much and won't do much playing but does like to find a nice spot to sit next to a calmer adult cat, especially one that's sleeping, and just gently stroking its fur in silence.

Tatsuo Shinada

Something about this man just attracts kittens. They'll just kind of swarm him the second he sits down. Maybe it's his jovial attitude but they just want to play with him from the moment he walks in. He kind of just laughs through it, amused by their little meows.

Ichiban Kasuga

Literally love at first sight with every cat he sees. Adores animals and thinks each one is a precious angel. Would forgive a cat for biting him on the face, actually. Out of all the boys, he's the most likely to suggest a neko cafe date himself.

Tianyou Zhao

Likes to just sit and bap a ball around on the floor for the cats to chase. All smiles throughout the date, just has a grand time in general. Would give each cat a little kiss on the head if he could.

Joon-Gi Han

Has known about cat cafes for a while but never really got to go to one, mostly due to his line of work. Just kind of takes it all in, watching the cats play and enjoying a warm drink all while smiling a little to himself. This is nice. He could get used to doing things like this with you more often.

+ you have been without hot water for 6 days, with outdoor temperatures nearing freezing at night. You find yourself shivering especially on this 6th day after your heated-water-on-the-stove shower, a recent online interaction having sent you spiralling through painful memories.

+ and we won't even go into the communications with the landlord that day

+ you feel that a worthless, incapable piece of shit like yourself does not deserve any happiness or comfort. After all, you're just a lazy, psychotic human who's had so much given to you, right? Maybe your own feelings and perspectives on your struggles are not valid enough

+ you become engulfed in the memories of being isolated, pushed away, unappreciated, unwelcomed in social situations, the heavy pain in your heart and soul eating you up from the inside like a black hole to swallow you up

+ your mind can't stop. You have to keep remembering these times to validate your own incapabilities, your own failures, your own psychological struggles that prevent you from doing what for most people is normal

+ no one is there to help you. You feel so cold, both inside and outside. You wash your hands in the sinks ice cold water as you put on your skincare to try to put something normal into your life

+ how you could have used that warm, purifying shower to wrap you in its embrace. If you couldn't have a person, then you could let your skin pretend that it was feeling such soothing contact from the outside

+ you didn't want to call tahomaru. He was the only one you felt you had, but you didn't want to burden him. What if he also would invalidate you? What if he would also end up sending you both into a fight of a "my life is worse than yours" argument?

+ but you needed him now. How you hoped you wouldn't be seen as a thorn in his side. Sometimes you were afraid to communicate with him. You were starting to get clingy towards him, and whenever you got in a relationship where you really wanted the other person's friendship and attention, they would start to distance themselves from you. Right now, you couldn't bear facing tahomaru do that to you

+ you were on the last string of your rope, you felt. One more smash of pain into you and you might just end yourself

+ no, you would not do that. The risk was too great that you could end up deformed or seriously disabled. You would just maybe mentally burst. "Just" mentally burst.

+ you called tahomaru, who after hearing you weren't feeling well, immediately offered for you to come to Daigo Castle. It was always a strange experience being transported back in time and part way across the globe, but you had gotten used to it

+ tahomaru greeted you with a hug and immediately noticed how cold you were. "Y/n? What happened? You'll get sick this way" He didn't hesitate to take off his haori to put over your shoulders. He ordered mutsu and hyogo to have the staff make some hot tea and brought you to his quarters.

+ he let you change into some of his spare clothes and set up one of those heated table things idk if they were in the sengoku era or not,but they are now. Deal with it

+ you've shivered less since being with him and he has seen how bad you were feeling and did everything he could to make you comfortable

+ but tahomaru is nosy, too, so he asked you what happened. When he heard that you didn't have hot water for 6 days, his jaw dropped not like the average person in the sengoku era had hot water but tahomaru always got a heated bath so he can be like "wtf you're living how?"

+ "why didn't you come sooner? You can't keep living like this, y/n. You deserve better" He gives you some blankets to warm you up more and then decides to sit behind you and embrace you. "Stay here with me. Is this better?"

+ he's so warm and soft behind you, yet he feels strong too. It calms you a bit to feel his strong arms around you. For this moment, you feel like there is someone to fight for you

+ "i didn't want to burden you with my negativity." You hesitate to say the next part, but you do. "When I'm in a bad place, people always leave me"

+ tahomaru holds you tighter. "You mean so much to me. I would never leave you. If you're down, that means you need me more than ever. I promise. As your friend, I'll never let you be forsaken"

+ you find it hard to trust him. You're sure that one day, he'll have had enough of you

+ "y/n..." He notices everything. "Y/n, you don't trust me. Do you..."

+ "I'm afraid you'll hurt me like all the others. Yeah."

+ "I won't. I promise. You mean so much to me, and...you know, I'm lonely too." His voice gets a little sad. "We can be lonely together."

+ you hug his arms that are around you. Tahomaru gets even closer and embraces you tighter, pulling into his soft chest.

+ "I'm going to take care of you. I promise."

+ after all the heartbreak and pain you've experienced with other people, you still don't believe him, but you'll believe him for now. In this moment, he is there to support you and comfort you. Right now, that's what matters

+ when the hot tea comes, he loosens his embrace and sits next to you. He occasionally asks you if you are warm enough.

+ "stay the night. Then tomorrow, I'll go hunt something for you and cook it myself. It'll make you healthy" He's so proud of this idea he has

+ his words bring tears to your eyes. Someone like you doesn't deserve such kindness, yet you crave it from the deepest corners of your soul

+ when tahomaru sees that you're holding back tears, he looks like he is wondering if he did anything wrong. "Hey, y/n, did I make you sad?" He immediately hugs you, almost knocking over the tea

+ you shake your head as he hugs you. When you rest your chin on his shoulder, he puts his hand gently on the back of your head

+ "I'm here for you and I'm going to do my best so you feel better. You're important to me. Can you remember that you're important to me?"

+ you can only wonder for how long tahomaru would feel that about you

+ tahomaru starts to rub your back. "You mean so much to me. I'm here and I'm not leaving. I'm going to make sure you're OK, no matter what it takes"

+ he offers to play a game with you to try to get your mind off of everything that is troubling you. He wants you to know that whenever you are with him, you are safe and you are not alone. He manages to choose some silly game that makes you laugh

+ you fall asleep cuddled with tahomaru under a warm blanket, soothed by his body heat and the kindness he showed you. As long as you were with him, you were protected both physically and psychologically.

+ maybe you could stay there a few days and hope the hot water is fixed when you return

+ "y/n. I'm coming with you to make sure that thing is working properly."

+ maybe tahomaru can be a little too protective, but you appreciate it because he will stand by your side and fight with you
