And yeah. I will block any leftist on here I see engaging with any of my posts or reblogs about I/P who have stuff on their blogs endorsing the slaughter of civilians and children as “de-colonization.”

okay so this is not about anything specific just a response to some back-and-forths i've been been seeing recently but it can be true that some americans are entitled and ignorant when encountering other cultures AND that some europeans have a superiority complex towards americans that make them hair triggered against any comment from americans about their experience in europe. like trust that i really try hard to see both sides, but sometimes, when an american talks about their experience in europe or (god forbid) complains about it, some europeans will respond with such vitriol and condescension that really isn't warranted in the slightest. in the end, we really are so much more alike than we are different. people are the same everywhere, they really really are. everyone complains, everyone shit talks, everyone has their own form of ignorance. it's just that the particular flavour changes from place to place. everyone is so defensive and i don't get why we have such violent reactions when talking about cultural differences. please, can we stop the fighting it's so pointless.

#be deadly fucking serious rn PLEASE whatttt. that post that's like 'parents will say something that shapes you as a person#but for them it was just another tuesday' like WHAT JUST HAPPENED#basically if you've been following me since i went to uni then you know first year was an... interesting time for me and my mum#we rowed all the time and it's the most unsettled our relationship has ever been and i do truly believe it was just some unfortunate#external factors like me leaving home would rock the boat enough it was always gonna rejig our dynamic#but on top of that i was her LAST child to fly the nest which she hated AND my sister was in germany being insanely dependent on my mum#so i got sidelined a lot which was shitty at the time but i get it now like im still a bit bitter bc being the eldest everything my sister#does is an exciting first and our age gap means typically our academic big moments tend to cross over#so my a-levels happened during her first year of uni so for me a-levels were the biggest thing ever but ofc her thing was bigger#but when she did HER a-levels it was the biggest thing ever and i was /just/ doing gcses etc and germany was the same#like it was JUST my first year of uni bc meanwhile my sister was living alone in a foreign country. so that sucks and my mum was#defo focused on my sister and i wasn't in a position to be like 'hey i know it doesn't seem like it now you've got one kid through it#but going to university and settling in for the first year is still an insanely stressful and lonely time so please pay attention to me'#and all in all me and my mum just STRUGGLED we fought A LOT and not petty rows either they were really emotionally heavy all the time#and basically what's caused this post is that she said about america 'it'll be the longest ive been away from you'#and i know what she meant like a month out of england is the biggest thing ive ever done and im not even in EUROPE so this is huge#but i kinda said like 'im pretty sure i went a month in first year a couple times without visiting?' AND I MEANT IT CASUAL#BC I AM PRETTY SURE IT'S TRUE LIKE I WASNT EAGER TO GO HOME I WENT SOME WEEKS NOT EVEN RINGING#which REALLY shows how strained it must have been at the time. and she responds with confusion so i pointed out that first year#wasn't a great time for us and again still being casual bc it's such a fundamental truth for me that first year was Bad for me and mum#and she just blinks at me like 'what are you talking about' what. WHAT. like i knew she wasn't paying much attention to me then#but it made me MISERABLE for an entire YEAR like boom can testify bc they had to deal with my bs over the phone the entire time#and my mum just. didn't even notice that we weren't doing well. what. what the fuck even..... baffled by this actually#like i am REELING from this i feel like she just tipped the fundamentals of my world with that#hella goes home

Not sure if you’ve answered something like this before, but what’s your favourite fictional interpretation of Napoleón?
There are no fictional Napoleons! They are all real, and they all live deep in my heart! What are you implying? That I don't have an army of Napoleons gathered from across all media, ranging from 19th century caricatures to modern video games living in my home?! Perish the thought! Watch your mouth or I'll sic my Attack Napoleons on you!!
I certainly won't be actually answering this question in my tags!

It’s funny how when I heard about the whole ‘women getting punched in the face by a man while walking in New York’ my first thought was: mmmmh… what KIND of man? Any description?
And of course there were no descriptions.
Which as we know is a description.
We know. Everybody knows. Which is why not a single one of these white women getting punched (coincidence, I’m sure!) mentioned anything about it.

why are so many people in like yt comments only there to complain about modernized/nontraditional/nonhistorical stagings and costumings of operas. “rossini wouldn’t have wanted il barbiere di siviglia to look that plain and ugly” “der freischutz doesnt work if it’s not set specifically in early 19th century germany” “ohh don giovanni shouldn’t be wearing a modern 3 piece suit” why not. there’s a hundred productions a year. as long as the director is Doing Something Interesting with the opera i don’t really care if it’s “period accurate” or not. if you can’t engage in the story without some pretty period costumes to focus on that’s a you problem

“Victorians were way more misogynistic than medieval people” have you considered misogyny as like an expression of power dynamics within the context of a period and not just a simple sliding scale of Less or More or is nuance like. entirely dead

muslims will act violently homophobic in a country that values gay rights and then act shocked when it reflects badly on their community
#non muslims pls don’t interract but i’m sooo mad i just need to rant#also prefacing this by saying obvs muslims are not to blame for racism and islamophobia in europe these things would still exist without#all the controversy but omggg#so this group of lgbt muslims planned an iftar for other queer muslims and they had to cancel it bc of the threats they received#and now ofc all the politicians are going on abt how they cannot accept intolerance and this behaviour is unacceptable in a society that#preaches equal rights for queer people#and like… was that not to be expected??? the very muslims who do shit like this will be the first to scream islamophobia but are you making#ANY effort#this meeting was not for you it does not affect you you don’t even have to think abt it but what makes you think sending threats of#physical violence during the holy month of RAMADAN is smth you should be doing#there is nothing surprising abt the far right (who don’t even support queer rights themselves) to jump on this opportunity to make sure#everyone knows that look!! those muslims refuse to adopt our good belgian values#and yk they’d find smth anyway but let’s avoid adding fuel to their fire by giving them real actual reasons to be concerned#and on the one hand it does feel like victim blaming bc marginalised groups shouldn’t be held responsible for the hatred targeted at them#and it’s not muslims’ fault but i’m just so tired like they really can’t help themselves#something so deeply wrong with muslims who make hating queer people their number one priority like… i don’t think you understand what your#beloved faith stands for#it’s just such a shame to have to start ramadan with this kind of discourse everywhere#exactly 0% of this is surprising i could’ve predicted this would happen exactly but it’s just so tiring on all accounts#you want to live your religion in piece without being targeted for it? what makes you think attacking other ppl wanting the very same thing#is a logical response? use your brain and spend some time doing dhikr instead of spreading hate on the internet what is wrong with you

something that's commonplace in things i experience is that i never really get nightmares but just the most inexplicable acid trips of dreams possible
#case in point: the dream i just woke up from#i had this dream that i was on a trip to some european country (i don't recall the name of it. it was definitely somewhere in europe though)#and i alternated between using my parents' car and something that was a mix of a train and a washing machine (?)#and the catch was that i had to keep the washing machine mechanism ON in order for the train to start#oddly enough the trip to the unspecified country only took an hour although it felt like six#when i'd arrived i'd stopped at a movie theatre that was empty save for about three people who spoke dutch#i felt defeated after my one-hour trip#i think i was carrying a large slice of bread as well (what???). it was a bread plushie (yeah i'm as confused as you are)#for some odd reason i was able to understand the people speaking dutch although the only language i knew was english#i told them about my trip and we collectively had a good chuckle#they explained that it's commonplace for tourists to experience the exact same thing#after i talked to them and left the theatre somehow i ended up in slovenia#that was the most i could remember after waking up#i know symbolism within your dreams speaks to what you experience while conscious but how in the HELL am i supposed to explain this#what's cookin' in hell's kitchen?#should i make a seperate tag for my eldritch entities of dreams? i think i will.#i feel like labeling it as a 'dream diary' seems way too predictable#i'll call it 'adventures within my amygdala'#adventures within my amygdala

hey man, just something to think about because i see you using "caucasity" to refer to white people, but actual caucasian people aren't white and actually had their identity coopted by white europeans
I gotta say,,,that is peak colonizer
#I mean white europeans taking the identity not you pointing it out anon#I also mean that as a joke#I did look into it#And ur right anon thank you for letting me know#well kinda cause some people from the region are considered white while others aren't#'Whiteness' is a very difficult group to define#It looks like it was used to separate 'light skinned' and 'dark skinned' eastern europeans into different groups#despite being from the same country or region#or being from entirely different regions#But before that meant eastern europeans from the Caucasus#It's current definition as taught in north america is 'White European'#but the actually 'Caucasian race' doesn't really exist cause it was just 'white and white passing people'#and actual Caucasian people are specifically from the Caucasus region of europe and would be an ethnicity instead of a race#It is a totally outdated term#but it's modern use (especially in ways like I used) is a lot more complicated#since it was co-opted by white europeans to specifically mean themselves#and since it was first used our distinctions of race have changed#as well as the actual countries changing too#If people from that region prefer if we stopped using words like 'caucasity' I'd be happy to#but I wasn't sure if you meant this as educating me or asking me to stop#I'm a psychology of diversity major not a sociologist so I could be completely looking at the wrong sources#But hopefully I'll learn more in class#cause the definition of 'whiteness' has been a hot topic both in psychology and sociology#I'll my friend who's a sociology minor#like there's just so much to how people define 'whiteness' and why#and who identifies as 'white' and why#sorry for the infodump anon I'm just super into psychology and sociology#unfortunately I did computer science before switching to psych so I can't focus on sociology or I'll never graduate lol

It’s true though, you look great in your new shirt and I’m glad someone said it first cos I got too shy 😅
Also I still can’t believe you got to go to the show, it sounds like it was amazing and I’m loving the pictures and videos everyone who went is posting ♡
you are too nice 💞
I still can't believe it either, feels like a dream. It gets even better because we heard someone saying at the queue that 15.000 people had tried to get the tickets, and I just saw Radio Rock's ig story that said that there was only one hundred winners O_O
@thisisntaparty is the luckiest mf in the world
