Why, In my opinion, "Spiracle" is the ideal song for Sebaciel.

In case you are unfamiliar with the song I am referring to, it is titled "Spiracle" and performed by Flowerface.

I've got way too much time on my hands and I'm seriously lacking sleep, so I thought I'd write this thread.

But before we dive in, let me recommend Flowerface.

Besides having this amazing song, they've quickly become one of my favorite artists and have much more to offer than this.

So, without any more delay, let's get started!

WARNING!

I'm just a teenager looking to have a good time, so please don't take any of this too seriously.

So, I came across this song while scrolling through Sebaciel playlists, and boom, there it was.

Since the very first time I laid my ears on it, I couldn't get enough of that tune. It's got this spooky, eerie, yet strangely comforting vibe that fits perfectly with Sebaciel aesthetic.

Little did I know, it was just the tip of the iceberg.

Personally, I'm drawn to music primarily because of its lyrics. So, it was only natural for me to do some digging on them. Let me tell you, I was far from disappointed...

The first verse goes:

I want the parts of you you only show

To the corner of your bathroom mirror

I want the parts of your hand-grenade heart

That beat slowly with anger and fear

Yall can already guess where Im going with this.

This is how Sebastian sees Ciel from his point of view,how he is expressing a desire for intimacy and emotional connection with him.He is asking to see the hidden, vulnerable parts of Ciels emotions and thoughts. The lines about the mirror and heart represent a desire to create a safe space for him, to let his defenses down and open themself up.Personally, I have observed Sebastian's deeper affection towards Ciel compared to Ciel's feelings towards Sebastian.Ironic.

I want the parts of you you only show

To the birds outside your bedroom window

I want the teeth that you lost as a child

That you hide in a box under your pillow

These lyrics express a similar desire for closeness and intimacy, but with a focus on the Ciels younger self. There may be a reference to the idea of lost innocence, and a wish to go back in time to find those parts of the Ciels childhood that he feels he no longer has. The notion of a box which is hidden under a pillow may represent Ciel's feeling of embarrassment over his experiences, or perhaps his lack of acceptance of the past.

Sebastian is looking for the extremes and complexities of Ciel, wanting access to his intense passions, aggression, and pain. The reference to salt on lips suggest Sebastians hunger and desire for physical intimacy, while the mention of morbid fixation suggests an interest in the dark, twisted, and perhaps taboo aspects of the other Ciels psyche.Not to mention the violence part.

Do I really have to explain further? This verse delves into Sebastian's willingness to assist Ciel in seeking revenge, his patience with Ciel's outbursts, his understanding of Ciel's complexities, and his unwavering love for him despite it all.

Your lips on the microphone, soft disposition

The lyrics reveal a longing for intense physical closeness and sexual discovery.Sebastian who is eager to delve into Ciel's raw desires and untamed passion, craving deep and intimate connection. The phrase "born-again virgin" hints at a willingness to embrace his primal urges, showing a sense of surrender. And let's not forget the religious undertones - "I want your Jesus" says it all. Ciel's quest for revenge is his suicide mission.

The shark in the water speaks of a danger or threat, while the scrapes on knees and flowing blood speak of pain and violence. The line about the sweat on the palms and surveillance shadow ties in with Ciel's paranoia and anxiety. All of these themes show Sebastian's desire to experience the full range of emotions and physical sensations, including those that may be difficult or uncomfortable. I LOVE THEM.

ALSO the mention of the clementine fields can refer to Ciel's of innocence and childhood naivety. The lines about ropes represent Sebastian's desire to explore and heal the Ciel's past wounds.

Your paralyzed sleep and your *scream*

I want you, butterfly, I want you, sailor

I am your lover and I am your jailor

These are pretty self explenatory,thats why they are my favorite.

Just too much paralles.

This is what I see when they say "I want your nightmares,the ghost in your doorway"

Sebastian's perception of Ciel as a butterfly holds significant meaning, symbolizing hope, transformation, and rebirth. Through his affection for Ciel, Sebastian finds hope and undergoes a profound change, shedding his cold demeanor. Similarly, Ciel can be likened to a "sailor" due to his curiosity, yearning for the unknown, and hidden passion. Sebastian, as both Ciel's lover and literal jailor, perfectly aligns with their contractual bond. Bound to Ciel until the end of his life, Sebastian consumes his soul, sealing Ciel to him until the end of Sebastian's own existence.

do you have any advice for writing klavier? your characterization of him is so strong and interesting and I have an idea for a fic I want to write but I can't quite figure out his like.. voice? if that makes sense?

thank you, first of all!! im happy you like the way i write him :] and i had some trouble getting into his voice at first too! i think its because hes Not Like Other Prosecutors, within the feeling of the games, since he is immediately in your corner with no downsides and almost consistently nice to you.

one important thing about his characterization/voice i think is that "almost," though. approximately once per trial, klavier says something balls to the wall insane, rude, and tactless.

transcript from turnabout corner:

Klavier: ...How ironic that you would kill the one man capable of helping you. You're almost as careless as he was! ...Ah ha ha ha. Wocky: …… Apollo: …… Klavier: Well, now that the place is hopping… Let's get this gig started!

turnabout serenade:

Ema: You... You jerk! Just what was I in here for? Comic relief!? Trucy: Yeah! Apologize! Klavier: Ah ha ha. Oh, sorry!

turnabout succession:

Brushel: Actually, I did notice something when I visited the studio. I'd heard of poison that "takes its sweet time", see! Klavier: ...But not what I've been saying for the last few minutes, apparently.

those are just some favorites off the top of my head. my point is that it's important to not get caught up in the nice guy thing klavier has going on. i actually think he veers more toward "kind but not nice"! he absolutely is a good guy, he's there with you to find the truth and he will weather any storm his fucked up social circle brings him if that means finding the right killer, but he is also very frequently kind of a bitch.

his speaking voice specifically gave me grief at first. writing miles and phoenix into scenes together is easier, because phoenix talks like a normal guy who was born in the 90s, while miles is a lot more posh (although miles is also plenty rude, but that's a rant for another time). klavier is a prosecutor, famous, and evidently rich, but he doesn't necessarily sound like that. a lot of his Cool Rock Star Lingo however sounds stilted, too. he's kind of suspended between two worlds and doesn't seem to neatly fit into either of them. i don't think that's a problem that needs solving when writing him though! i think in essence klavier attempts to bring the cool, chill vibe of rock'n'roll into the seriousness of law to loosen things up, and he also brings the pedantic perfectionism of law into music to shape it to his will.

the german gimmick is part of that too, for me. this isn't supported by canon since we never see him off work there, but i just like to headcanon that his go-to german phrases (ie herr/fräulein, achtung, etc) are very much part of a deliberately constructed persona. if he isnt on a stage (and a courtroom counts as one) he has no need for those, so i leave them out. since i personally still write him as a native german speaker, occasionally he'll still slip into real german or struggle with translations for things, but all those little pleasantries he throws around for show fall away when it's just him alone.

back to his character, i know we all lament how little screentime he got and how the writers seem to have forgotten about him. and so maybe this was entirely by accident, but just from the way he is presented in aa4, i think klavier presents a very rich character with a lot of seeming contradictions, which of course just serves to make him more complex. here's some facts i just think say a lot about him.

his shoes look like biker boots, so he's wearing proper footwear to ride his literal harley davidson, but he is also wearing the suit he wears to court.

the glimpse we catch of his music sounds like classic hard rock to me, with his and daryan's looks supporting a glam rock edge to it. he says he likes poetry, which makes sense given the fact that he writes lyrics (this is also something the brothers have in common, so it's likely that they grew up with it).

when romein letouse's body goes missing and they have to go look for it, klavier says that he is having fun.

lamiroir's music is nothing like his own, yet klavier clearly appreciates her to the point where he felt it was an honor to perform with her.

when his trial against phoenix comes closer and closer to the point of no return, klavier repeatedly tries to give him an out. i guess this could be construed instead as him baiting phoenix into presenting the diary page, but i dont really know about that. klavier was cheeky with him and kept talking about the old versus the young, but that still implies a knowledge of just who phoenix wright is, who he was up against, and what phoenix stood for. klavier, assuming that phoenix knew that the evidence was forged, told him that he does not have to present it, that now is the time to give up and back out, and then he would have let him get away with it. it's only when the page was actually in the open that he fully succumbed to the belief that phoenix wright was crooked beyond repair, and that he had to be removed from the courts.

he personally comes to the wright anything agency the morning after the turnabout serenade concert, to give apollo the news that machi requests him as his counsel. why did he do this?? phoenix could have been there. klavier didn't have to deliver this message himself. he apologizes for how that evening went, while also fearlessly standing in the lion's den of the guy whose life he (ARGUABLY.) ruined

i think one of the most important things for writing klavier is that whatever facet of his life youre writing, he is feeling everything very deeply. he fits right into the artist trope for that. only his art goes further than music, and extends into law.

whatever klavier gavin does, he wants to do it perfectly, and he makes it his very personal responsibility if that doesn't work out. he took it upon himself to register daryan as a witness before apollo could request it. when apollo starts accusing kristoph in succession, he says he wants concrete proof, or he is "off this case." why would he stay on the case with concrete proof? that's his brother. he doesn't have to prosecute his brother. if being "off the case" is an option, then he can and should walk, but he doesn't. klavier sticks things out until the very, very bitter end, because he feels that no one else can, and that makes it his responsibility. and he does not run away from responsibility.

and he's genuine. that's one point i feel like people tend to forget when writing him. the whole rock star thing and the shiny smile can lead you into thinking that everything he does is an act, but i don't think it is. klavier cares very deeply and he shows you this openly. he doesn't fully break down while he's at work, but that only means that he is an adult with a good grasp on his self-control.

which brings me to one more point, and that is the fact that he was a professional at age 17. and not just in law, but also in music. i'm sure we've all heard music industry horror stories, now imagine you're 17 years old and deep in there through over-night fame. klavier was then already a lawyer, already had his band together, stood tall with his degree and his creativity and knew exactly where he wanted to go. but he was fucking seventeen. somewhere out there, klavier grew up really, really fast.

he evidently knows a lot about music, he is fully in charge of that concert, he writes his own songs, he potentially even mixes it himself instead of having staff to do that. he is an extremely good investigator and prosecutor, figuring out cases before anyone else does and then playing his cards so meticulously correct that he essentially puts work into his own loss. once he realizes that apollo's clients are innocent, klavier has to figure out moves to convince the entire court that he's wrong, all while keeping up appearances, and he manages.

klavier is extremely good at everything he does, because he has to be. because he was seventeen.

and after all that.... bro....... i think it's important to let him be happy.

i put him through a lot in exorcism. canon already puts him through a lot, and then i put him through more. i think he's complex and tragic, but he can't be only that. he plays air guitar in court! there's a still of his concert in canon where he passionately dips his microphone stand like they're dancing. he loves what he does!!! hes having fun!

he clearly has hobbies and interests and it's important to give them space between all the angst. doesn't he even say something about it being time to bury the teenage angst in the past? i think klavier actively wants to be good. he's had a turbulent life with fabulous ups and devastating downs, but he deliberately wants to come out okay.

and i think he puts in the work. because it's what he does.

so you're writing a young adult who has been a young adult for a little too long, who faces hardships with grim determination because he knows that he's strong enough to come out on top, and who makes morbid jokes and laughs about them while everybody else stares on in horror. hope this.... helps :')

rose's fear attack when she finds heres lf in the alien situation. she's genuinely terrified! it's a good beat, man. more than that, it's a rare beat. I get a lot of people don't vibe with it and prefer the more "buffy-esque approach, since it's "more to the point" and gets you larger than life figures… but personally I much prefer it when scifi/fantasy scenarios are portrayed as the terrifying reality they would be. also this: "ROSE: I just hitched a ride with a man. I don't even know who he is. He's a complete stranger"

war of the world vibes with the little robot fellas. /unintentional parallel to how cassandra dies and how the aliens in that book die?

"it gets inside and changes my mind, and you didnt even ask" "i didnt think about it like that" it's interesting that rose question this tbh

"five billion years in the future, my mum's dead" "bundle of laughs you are" /god i love this exchange. nine's constant attempt to downplay ANY surfacing of Real Emotions. rose's naivety in contemplating for the first time in her life that oh yeah, people die. the first statement of the "everything dies, everything ends" theme that will be woven throughout all the rtd era.

ngl i wish rose Did More in the plot of this episode, in terms of actually solving the crisis, feels like a stepdown after Rose giving her the most climatic moment... that said she does get a lot of great quibs in this one: "you two go pollinate and i'll go meet the family"/ "and i want you home by midnight!"/ "its better to die than to live like you, a bitchy trampoline" / "youre just lipstick and skin"

she's really similar to nine/ten in that aspect. they both have that "humor as defense mechanism" thing

the way nine and rose Lean in those stairs…. im Looking respectfully and im Thinking pure thoughts. (honestly ppl talk a lot about ten and rose's body language in s2 but there was A Lot going on with nine and rose as early as episode 1)

"all that counts is here and now" can't tell if zen mindfulness or a desperate defense mechanism to cope with ptsd.

first thing rose does is call her mum ): - Cassandra "I'm too young" vs Ten's "I was going to do so much more"...(ben wyatt voice) it's about the hypocrisy (oh having written this note before rewatching new earth... put a pin on that!)

timeless child retroactive continuity bonus: perhaps cassandra as "the last human" (not really a "human") paralleling "the last timelord" (not really a "timelord)? - "JABE: And what about your ancestry, Doctor? Perhaps you could tell a story or two. Perhaps a man only enjoys trouble when there's nothing else left". well post-s13 they're gonna enjoy themselves a lot more lol - there's something very anti-entropy about how the child gets to regenerate indefinitely without "losing" its essence and its dna integrity (vs cassandra's "flatness", the child gains more and more complexity as time passes).

colonialism/hegemony: - NINE: "mind you, when I say "the great and the good" what I mean is the rich." / "Five billion years and it still comes down to money" / this maybe be harsh,,, honestly i hate to say but doctor who sometimes really is just typical neolib """anti-capitalist""" fiction. - in the sense that it pretends to be anti-capitalist, but really is just capitalist realist. it's writers can imagine 203223 scenarios of the earth dying but they cannot conceive of a post-capitalist world, a classless society or simply a world without taxes. Of course you could say "this is so these stories are relatable" but even in their relatedness, there's rarely a portrayal of the anti-capitalist struggle (rather than just generic star wars-style, ideology-less "rebellions).- (that said, obligatory "I'm not a politics robot" disclaimer... "Do you think it's cheap, looking like this? Flatness costs a fortune." is an iconic retort lol) - there's also a kind of subtle Myth Of The Linear Progress Of History thing going on with cassandra being framed as someone who "stayed behind" and has not embraced this analogue to our "Color Blind Post Racial Society" which has "Obviously" outgrown prejudice and notions of racial purity. - "good thing i didn't take you to the deep south" / "you were to busy making cheap shots about the deep south" // parallels to-> "who do you think makes your clothes?" "Is that why you travel 'round with a human at your side? It's not so you can show them the wonders of the universe, it's so you can take cheap shots?" "sorry" . actually no rtd i dont think these are chepashots at all lol they are VERY relevant shots!! it's very transparent how the writers are kind of meek about making these *truly* transgressive points, but it's much easier to have the doctor argue that rose having a donor card is "a different morality"... again one is truly transgressive, the other is fun-but-no-challenging-of-the-hegemony scifi "dilemma". - the "quick word with Michael Jackson" line is doing A Lot but idek how to even begin to entangle it lol it's very 00s, for sure. - for once, a self aware one: "People have died, Cassandra. You murdered them." / "It depends on your definition of people, and that's enough of a technicality to keep your lawyers dizzy for centuries"

themes: - everything has its time and everything ends check your bingo cards. racial purity vs mixing vs 'progress'. class. life cycles. gut instinct (rose jumping the gun to empatise w/ the doc + nine going through the fans + rose reaction to the alien parade). destruction as tourism, as "artistic event" (an uncomfortable parallel to how this is what our heroes will be doing for the next 10+ seasons). - this episode does a bit of a u-turn on the previous (And the next) on its constant questioning of the intrinsic "meaning" of a physical body. in this, cassandra's continuous operations are framed as a kind of "lost of an essence". also the "surface" of her thinking as metaphor for her missing the "essence" of what it means to be human (biologically but more fundamentally, ethically).

Live Fast Die Young / YOLO / everyone deserves to be mourned. everyone deserves a dignified death. thread carefully and cherish life, because it will all be gone. our time is limited and short and it is because it is short that it means something. Life only means anything because there's Death.

ecology and environmentalism. "there are many species in that planet. mankind is only one / I'm a direct descendant of the tropical rainforest." obsessed with it. wish they brought back the rainforest.

here r my guys !!! im tired so this won't be Super in depth but uh yeah :D

yuki - a major part of his character development is learning to be his own person and realizing that his mom doesn't have any power over him. specifically there's a scene where he's talking to her and he says something along the lines of "my end result might not be something you approve of but i want it to be something i'm proud of" and that. inspired me SO FUCKING MUCH. i think about it all the time. he gives me so much courage but i can also really relate to his character before all that development, where he feels detached from his peers because he was isolated from a young age and always wanted friends but was always afraid the people around him hated him

kunikida - the pure rage this man goes through every time something doesn't go exactly according to plan speaks to me. he is perfectionist anger issues personified. also very much relate to his struggle of trying to get dazai to pay fucking attention to their jobs bc trying to wrangle people to stay on task is something that drives me So Fucking Insane. hes just a relatable boy ok.

tome - very obsessed with something that nobody else really cares about, and even the people close to her who Seem to care about it don't really even listen to her infodumping and genuine love for what she does. there's also a scene during the alien arc where they're about to go try to contact the aliens and she says she doesn't want to, because this is her last chance for it to ever happen and if it doesn't work it means she's been lying to herself this whole time and AUGH. that speaks to me. a lot of times i've tried something new to cure my Illness and it doesn't work and i understand so well the feeling of just wanting to give up even though you have a possible solution, because if the solution doesn't work then you just don't have anything left

natsume - this one is mostly just vibes but i think his personality and terrified to make friends attitude are very me coded

tachihara - my family is extremely conservative while most of my friends and extended family are liberal. i often feel like i'm playing spy or infiltrating one group or the other and i never feel like i really fit in either bc i don't want to betray my parents even though our ideals naturally dont coexist and this is something i struggle with and feel conflicted about a lot etc etc

aoyama - haha look at flamboyant to hide a crippling inferiority complex boy go

reki - i dont remember anything about sk8 except for cherry and the fact that this kid has adhd and i think thats self explanatory

im gonna get the record straight and be completely transparent.

i have never lurked critblr or leaktwt. i barely know who any of these people are. if you're critblr and i have you blocked it's because you interacted with dtblr and your url sounded weird, and people fact checked what kind of people were under your likes. or in your following list. you guys don't really know how to be subtle

many of us have been here for long enough to know urls of the people who post the most fucked up posts, because once in a while you'll pop up on the based on your likes tab.

implying im in critblr is fucking insane. i can genuinely tell all of you the exact number of leaked info i know. the truth is if you're in dtblr and you recieve more than 3 asks a day you ARE gonna get freak anons bomb dropping leaks in your askbox. there's unfortunately very little way of modding that. we try our best by blocking but every single day we get harassed with information we don't fucking want.

i am not in charge of the fandom and i will never be. tumblr is the least fucking relevant site in the fandom hierarchy. i'm no god of the fandom i don't make the rules of the fandom and i am under any impression than im more important than any other blog in dtblr. my blog would be NOTHING without all the members of dtblr. i am not special i am not famous. it's not my fault people who don't like being active blogs come into my inbox to express themselves. i don't pretend to be any authority figure. i say shit and if you agree with me cool and if you don't, that's cool too.

i am so fucking sorry that some of you have a complex over blogs that get attention, but that's not my fault. i have been here for Years of course i'm gonna have a big number of followers. especially since october all dtblr has tried so hard to not become what it used to be, and if you have a complex that's on you. there's tens of blogs with very little followers who are amazing. because a following count means NOTHING.

it's crazy to tell me im only finding reasons to shittalk dizzy and alison. i didn't know dizzy prior to their gross behavior regarding the shit they write about and the people they're friends with. if you know me well enough you'd know i have 0 problems with saying i hate x person for whatever personal grudge. i have done that plenty of times. i don't have to hide behind any excuse to shittalk someone.

calling me petty is ridiculous. petty over what girl? i'm just here to vibe idgaf what other people are up to if it's harmless shit.

yet another clinically fucking insane statement to make. i very politely to invite you to scroll my blog and tell me where i have confirmed anything. the only things i have talked about are dream's ex and those "body issues". i have never verified any kind of leak and you're insane for thinking i have. i genuinely invite you to send me one of those instances you talk about.

in regards of "a bunch of blogs complaining" i'd love to know what kind of blogs you're talking about because as far as i know the only conversation that's happened before regarding this topic, was something extremely similar to what i'm saying right now and not at all close to verifying any kind of leak. if you get those blogs on your dash that's a you problem and you should curate your experience better, but don't drag me into it.

i do apologize for the confusion. dizzy didn't write that fic but they did defend it and they've co-written together before.

i'm not a lurker and i don't know them, don't think i know all this information because i'm a stalker. i don't even know alison's tumblr. some of these people used to be friends. friends of a lot of people in the fandom. but you can only cover your behavior for so fucking long, and then people talk, and shit gets brought up.

both alison and dizzy have done more than morally incorrect things in the past for other fandoms. other than the choice of the kind of fics they write and bookmark, they both are 100% friends with people who discuss doxxes like it's top of the morning news. dizzy particularly was part of the phandom in the side of phannies who harassed and were weirdly invasive of their lives to the point where it affected their mental health.

again, read what you want like what you like but be aware that these are the people you're reading fics of. hey if you're one of them, kudos to you. but genuinely. don't even try to say they're not the kind of people im describing right now. people across different fandoms who have had the displeasure of knowing them will tell you the same thing.

hi! my feelings about r//nance is im just not into it, mostly bc i just Dont See it, like i just Don't, but also bc of reasons like ppl making the whole thing so Uncomplicated when it absolutely Would be Complicated as Fuck! and acting like it has any basis in canon, like i do like s//eddie, and ik some ppl do it for s//eddie too, but i personally don't think there's really any real basis for it in canon, i just think they'd be interesting (but that's another topic).

But also lowkey i think one of the main reasons i don't see it w/ r//nance, is that in s3 when nancy & robin interact for the first time, robin has The Biggest masking face ever, idk she just looks like she's autistic masking to hell & back, she looks like how i feel when im trying to be "a real person" all polite and friendly to someone i don't know, trying and hoping i remember all the things to say. idk it just Does Not vibe. lol

also when robin & nancy meet for the first time robin literally says "hi, I'm robin, i work with steve" isn't that at least a little bit of a sign that the first thing that connects them Is Steve, so like, idk, he might be relevant to them as characters??? like, a little, maybe???

i will never understand taking a complex ship and diluting it down, because i love complicated relationships. like, within stranger things, steve, tommy and carol are one of the dynamics i find most interesting! because it’s complex. if you reduced any of those characters down to nothing, they aren’t even those characters anymore. they’re just wearing their faces. and obviously i don’t like r//nance, but if i did, i wouldn’t try to make it something it isn’t just so everyone involved can be perfectly happy.

and i think it’s so weird when they like, fight to the death to try and prove it has a basis in canon. like you said, i like steddie. i don’t think it would ever happen in a million years. one of my guilty pleasure ships in stranger things is steve and kali, which has no chance of happening, but a ship doesn’t have to be close to canon in order for me to enjoy, you know? and i can admit that, though i guess others can’t.

there does seem to be a growing trend where people treat fanon ships as though it’s morally wrong to ship them because they aren’t canon. so i guess maybe r//nancers are over correcting, and sprinting in the opposite direction to try and say that they can ship it, and fighting anyone that doesn’t ship it because they feel like they have to defend it, but it’s just like… people will always have different opinions. about everything, just live and let live. block people whose opinions you hate, block out tags to avoid posts etc.

and yeah, i totally get you, even in s4, robin just looks like she’s trying so hard to appease nancy and nothing is working. it just looks like the most awkward situation in existence.

that is honestly such a good point!! especially considering robin and nancy are in the same year at school, but until robin has a connection to steve, she wasn’t relevant to nancy at all. like, steve really is the glue between those two characters, and any attempt to remove him just doesn’t work

so yeah akira started to slowly make himself more prominent in your life, always seeming to show up when you come back from school or try to strike up conversation with you. you found it weird he was just now trying to befriend you, and you took it as him just wanting to get in your pants, so you didn’t pay him any real attention. but….you did find yourself falling for his kindness and that subtle charm he has about him, and indulged him in a few things.. but then you quickly reeled yourself in with a reminder that he didn’t actually like you, and only wanted one thing from you. akira, noticed moments when you would randomly become quiet and cold to him, but that didn’t stop his efforts.

he started to exhibit his kindness and genuine affection for you in different ways, like by walking you home to and from class ( yes to class, despite some of them occurring between the hours of 8-9 am ), buying you whatever food you wanted , checked on you often, actually paid attention to you and wanted to get involved in your interests, always wanting to be close to you, even started saying ‘good morning pretty girl ❤️’ and ‘sweet dreams’ texts— every day without fail. it was like he was your boyfriend or something. suddenly, before your brain could fully indulge in that fantasy he continued to drag you in, your mind was so conveniently brought back to those times where you’d see the other girls he’d bring around his house or talk to all the time, and once again you were grounded to reality: akira fudo did what he wanted. he wasn’t tied down, and you’ve overheard him imply that he didn’t want to settle down, so how could there possibly be any hope for you? you were hardly social, and the girls that flocked over him …..well, they had it goin for them. so your resolve and resistance remained.

ok hold on im here with my band thoughts about riptide the musical. full disclosure this may not make sense i tried to be coherent.

i think that in the dunjon the orchestra would get real spooky during this. I ALSO REALLY WOULD LIKE SOMETHING CHOIR GOING ON IN THE BACKGROUND. what im thinking is like op 32 - 7 neptune, the mystique by gustav holst. they have an all female choir that sings this really nice chord and adds a lot to the song. this would mainly play while gillion stands before the elders and i think it would be interesting to play with the idea of the key and melody instrument changing between trials. i ALSO think it would add to the whole "this isnt real. but you dont know that" idea if the song stayed the same. no matter the scene.

assigning characters certain instrument melodies like how they do how to train your dragon is SUCH a cool idea to me. i think gillions motif would be played by a french horn. not too sure on the notes but definitely something with those typical heroic tones. chips would be played by a bassoon. hear me out on this. i actually dont have any reasoning. its just vibes alone. jay tripped me up for a bit due to her more complex character, but i think she would be played by bell chimes

going back to arrangements matching certain scenes i can TOTALLY imagine the island of zero scenes with movement three of west highlands sojourn as it is primarily navy based. (this is totally a bias since i play this piece for my competition this year. but i just generally really like west highlands sojourn)

i think it would be SUPER cool to have band involvement on stage. im not sure if this goes across for all productions, but i once saw a high school production of Catch Me if you can in which the jazz band was directly on stage in certain scenes. in certain scenes like the casino arc, anytime they enter a tavern, or just a place where there's street performers. having just soloist or a small ensemble on stage would be SO incredible. i think it would be so cool if the whole band was up there during the noctis like fancy party all dressed up. god id go insane.

i think anytime theres a navy related topic/scene there'd be this BRASS HEAVY melody (id say led by low trombones) if you've ever listened to arabesque. its a little something like the saucy lick they have going in that. i also think that whenever marshall john shows up the brass thing still plays but it sounds like a circus march.

SPEAKING OF CIRCUS MARCHES. i think that the entire time they are in Kas' Karnival (or however you spell it) a different strain of a circus march plays. specifically here im thinking Grand Galop by Johnnie Vinson because it has such wiggle room for tempo that you can play around with the mood of the carnival. in the pixieland and other peaceful areas the trio (a clarinet and euphonium led part. very soft and silly. most of the band rests during this.) plays. in the big top extravaganza the final strain plays (thats basically a rebalanced version of the trio to include the full band) i think the break strain would play anytime things got stressful. the other two strains could be anywhere really as they are pretty general.

those are the thoughts ive had so far abt it but if i have anymore ill let u know ^_^

i was thinking like for jay it could be something like a violin or viola. like it’s usually a fancy and elegant instrument but it can go CRAZYY when you want it to <3 and in scenes like the block i imagine jayson would have a strong cello playing for him and jay’s violin would be echoing his notes… ough. wind chimes are a really good idea though it plays a lot into some of her wind imagery (THIS IS THERE I KNOW IT IS OK<3)

and !!!! brass instruments for the navy are so really actually they are very loud and strong and generally inspiring :3 also something like a french horn for gill’s theme???? mwah mwah in love

HAVJNG THE BAND ON STAGE SOUNDS SO COOL?????? in taverns and big islands it makes so much sense. i feel like it would tie the roots back to dnd a little and it would make the town feel more real!! i love it <3

i am soosooo in love with all of this <33 gillion’s theme would be very strong and powerful like you can feel it in your bones, but through out the musical it dies down. it’s not as loud and intimidating or out there.

jays theme would be very subtle. it would be as loud but it is definitely there. the song wouldn’t sound the same without it. OH MY GOD. her theme plays in the block when she walks to her fathers side but it doesn’t have her specific instrument and it just isn’t the same. then a few measures in it gets replaced with a big cello and her instrument echoes the cello <333

chips theme would be very sudden and sharp. like it’s always on the verge of growing into something HUGE but it never really does. like ouugh. <333 sorry i’m having so many thoughts. his theme would have a harmonica ive just decided <3333

for context the other campaign i used to dm i called "The Tyranny of Talus" (talus was the continent's name) (kinda unimaginative i know but i digress) and my friend's campaigns that i've been in have been The Sands of Vorsareth (desert-based campaign) and Sorren's Draft (that one's too complex to explain, also now we're playing Sorren's Draft pt 2 cause the first one went up in flames)

oh my gosh okay so ry i REALLY want to cosplay and go to conventions but my friend who's been before always says it would be too overstimulating for me and that i would hate it the whole time so i thought i would ask you cause i trust your judgement very much: what is it like? is it very loud? what are the people and the facility like? are you enjoying yourself?

apologies for the late reply, ive been typing this on and off for a while (i only just left the con like 15 minutes ago), but it's here! woo!

okay okay okay so, this might get kinda long but i wanna be comprehensive with it so please bear with me here :') im gonna put most of this under a read more because of the length

some disclaimers beforehand: the convention im going to wasn't a huge event compared to most (not willing to share the name of it publically, but id be happy to dm it to you if you'd like to know more details about this specific con!). even though im in a capital city, it's still very manageable as far as cons go. i can't say for sure how many folks there are, but it's nowhere near as crowded as, say, a convention in chicago (or any other major city for that matter). every single one varies a lot, so your mileage may vary when it comes down to individual events. with that outta the way, onto the actual info!

as far as noise goes, id personally say it's not incredibly loud, but im not easily overstimulated by sound so my threshold is definitely different (i enjoy and seek out loud events too so i might be desensitized). ill try my best to describe it though so you can maybe get an idea of the vibe :]

a good chunk of the kind of noise you hear is just background chatter/conversation; it sounds a lot like busy school hallways, just on a larger scale. in the case of my convention, the maker's hall/vendor's space has the loudest chatter, as it has the highest concentration of people. some vendors in the makers hall play music at their booths, which can often be loud enough to be heard over the chatter so the overlapping noise might be overwhelming. good news is that they usually allow you to bring in your own bags with whatever you'd like (as long as it's not a danger to other attendees), so if you have anything you use to block out noise, those can be brought in! also, although it's not super common, a growing number of cons have "sensory packs" or smth similar available upon request that usually include something like ear plugs/noise cancelling headphones, so you could check for that beforehand if that's something you'd be interested in.

im not sure if you have any other sensory worries, but if there are, just lmk and i can give a rundown on the situation with that too!

now, as for the experience overall? it's incredibly fun!! it's probably not for everyone, but i really enjoyed it. the staff at my convention were, generally speaking, very nice, and i can say the same for the vast majority of the attendees i interacted with! i only had one truly bad experience with someone (a creepy attendee who kept recording me while i was just waiting in line for a panel), but that's just a risk that comes with attending any public event. there will always be a few bad apples unfortunately :(

also, prepare for the possibility of having your photo/video taken by folks at the con if you're cosplaying (ESPECIALLY if you're going as a more well known character), whether that be by staff covering the event or by folks who wanna take a selfie. the overwhelming majority of people have the basic decency to ask beforehand, but it's not a 100% guarantee. i had my photo taken so many times, as well as plenty of videos (namely during the cosplay competition), so be prepared for the possibility of that happening.

as far as the building goes, the venue itself was pretty standard. my city has one major events center, so this took place in a part of the complex used almost exclusively for cons. in this case, there were two major sections of the con: the maker's hall/vendor space (which has a mix of folks selling things, promoting their groups/podcasts/etc, photo ops with groups of cosplayers from the same media, celebrity guest booths, etc), and the panel/event hall. it all looks pretty plain, with fairly generic corporate decor (outside of the personally decorated booths), but it's fun to watch super colorful and interesting characters walking around what essentially looks like a glorified office space lol. lots of conventions do have fun with the decor, but this one wasn't one of them.

this was my first time cosplaying at a convention (first time cosplaying ever, technically), so i can say for certain that it's incredibly fun! folks are generally really kind towards beginner cosplayers, and it's really fun to walk around as someone other than yourself for a while. it's really nice seeing people's faces light up when you walk by, or being stopped for compliments on your costume. i had almost exclusively good experiences while interacting with everyone, and since everyone's just there to have a good time, very few people have the audacity to be bitchy about people having harmless fun (which is super refreshing).

i know this for super long, but i wanted to cover my bases and all that. im gonna cut this off now, as it's a lot to fit into one post, but i hope this helps to a degree!! if it doesn't, then i apologize, and im chill with clarifying or elaborating on other parts of the experience if you want more info :'D

Currently watching

A boss and a babe: I’m like… ok with this. it’s nice and cute and easy to watch and I like it more than I did enchante. book and force are doing a great job with their characters and have great chemistry but I just don’t care about the plot. like it hasn’t grabbed me at all, and it’s one of those shows for me where it feels like nothing is ever really happening, or they’re repeating the same thing of theme or plot point over and over. so yeah… it fills my friday

Bed friend: similar to a boss and a babe, but I do like it a little more (and no, not just bc it’s spicier). net and james have such incredible chemistry and I am more invested in the story, but idk… it’s giving mame, and I can never get too invested in these stories that touch on heavier themes when it feels like they’re just doing it for plot reasons and not to actually explore that kind of trauma. which is not to say they’re doing it badly, it’s just not my vibe for a show to get invested in. so again, fills my saturday

Our dining table: watched the first 2 eps of this and am loving it so far as a pure comfort show. the premise is so lovely and im excited to see how the romance plays out within the story they’ve established. the little kid is so adorable and im a sucker for a found family troupe

Me, my husband and my husband’s boyfriend: don’t ask me why I started watching this show but I watched the first 2 eps last night and it’s interesting to say the least. I kind of have no idea how the story is gonna pan out but like… the possibility of an unconventional 3-way relationship is at least worth sticking around for, and I’m glad it’s exploring adults navigating relationships. plus… and don’t spoil… but why do I feel like the main chick has a thing with that other friend… just me?

The eighth sense: what more is there to say? this is literally the only thing I care about airing at the moment, and between the boys planet finale this week and this show ending the week after, im literally gonna have nothing else to live for. like my whole personality is these two things, and I’m gonna be empty afterwards. anyway, this show is a masterpiece on every level in every sense and literally occupies my mind 24/7. honestly the most obsessed I’ve been with something in a while and I need to shut up before I start rambling all over again

also don't be sorry! original characters are literally my life and have been for. god. around 2 years or so! BUT ANYWAY I'LL GET INTO THE IMPORTANT STUFF

an important thing to acknowledge is that general character ideas are in themselves so important, in terms of seeing a particular character through. if you're hooked enough on the general vibe of an oc, you're probably going to be more likely to do more work with them in the future, weather that's by drawing them, thinking about them, writing, whatever that may be. There are several ways to make a character appeal to you, the maker. i cannot stress enough how important it is for the creator to be invested in their characters. for example, when i was starting to get into a certain show I noticed that i loved how contrasting the character's personalities were, and how they all interacted together. for me, lots of characters being present was a part of the appeal because i'm interested in how they interact/their connections to each other! therefore that's kind of what my character's story centers around. human connection! (or semi human, in my case.) what i'm trying to say is that if you're running out of ideas, turning to media for inspiration is a go to and can really help!!! even if it's just like "whoa, this character in this show has something special about them, I wonder how i could use this to inspire my own work!" find what you tend to like seeing in characters. how could you use your knowledge of what you find appealing to make this character likable? (if that's what you're going for, a hated character can be fun too sometimes >:) )

also one last thing about base ideas/general ideas. they will change. its important to be flexible with these kinds of things, as creativity can be a complex process and your characters are bound to evolve over time, which is awesome and beautiful.

ONTO FURTHER DEVELOPMENT!!

it's important to make your characters seem "real" in a sense. even if they're based somewhere other than earth, characters are more relatable when they seem more "human" or realistic. By this i mean don't be afraid to give your characters flaws! let them make mistakes! as well as it being good for their development, it's also way more fun to portray.

also, character backgrounds. families!! (if relevant.) people tend to take on traits of their parents, grandparents, etc and sometimes it's best to start with those relatives. i'll give an example. my initial main cast of ocs was just a handful of people. they had their own story forming and it was looking okay. after a while, i came up with future kids for some of these characters and how the parent's features would be shown through these future characters. .....long story short those "future kids" characters are now my main cast. by (accidentally) developing them from this angle, i was able to flesh out important things like their parent's backstories and past connections to my antagonist, how that will affect my main characters, (what trauma could this cause? what conflicts could arise?) and how different and diverse families can look. (found families, single parents, children adopted into families because one of the older characters had similar problems to them growing up,) the list goes on! something that can make characters seem more fleshed out is their relationships with other characters, and their backstories/motives/fears etc! also!! it's always interesting to see how a character's attitude and personality changes throughout their story. for example, how they act at the beginning may be very different to how they act when something is revealed about them later/conflict arises or something similar.

idk how much of an in depth answer you need but it does depend on if you want to have well rounded characters just to have, or if you want to put them in a storyline. in terms of art, if you ever want to design your characters yourself, finding artists that have a style similar to how you imagine your characters can be so helpful, and you can learn so much about your characters by seeing them on paper/on a screen! (like when i imagine my character concepts, there's always some things i don't think about until i draw/colour them, like the colour of their eyes!)

ALSO ALSO ask yourself things like

do they have any physical features connected to their past? does your character embrace them or try to hide them?

does your character have any insecurities?

how does your character feel about (insert activity here)

how does your character tend to process difficult or strong emotions?

if your character has siblings, what is their relationship to them like?

creating character bios can also really really help! general details that I like to include are full name, age, where they're from, nicknames, if any, (my personal favourite part) birthday, any details on any powers they have if any, personality types, (optional but can also help to see how they think a bit better, what their core fears are etc) gender, sexuality, pronouns, any random trivia/facts, and notable friends and family!

also, diversifying characters can help a lot with variety and i really recommend it. having characters with different abilities, disabilities, sexualities, gender identities, gender expressions, ethnicities, etc is all so interesting to develop for a character, and i've learned a lot from doing it! i also like to throw little aspects of myself into my characters! for example, one of my main ocs experiences gender the same as me is many ways! we have similar dysphoria triggers and our gender presentation is almost the same! my protagonist is a lot like me personality wise, and one of my other characters has the same family dynamic problems that i face (not enough motivation to be as helpful as one feels they should be in a family environment etc) i actively encourage projecting onto characters. very therapeutic. also!!! characters are more complex than they seem at first glance. if you think about how you see the world and your experiences, there's probably lots of layers and complexities to that! characters are similar! that's why i personally base my protag off of me a bit, because it means that i already have a solid understanding of her!

ok i've really been rambling but i hope this helps! creating characters is a lengthy process (i have over 100 and have fully visually developed like 4) but it's so worth it in my opinion <3333

A: i have a few, butt fur spikes are prob my fave physical trait... as for markings, im a sucker for good ol fashioned "thylacine" simple back stripes... and anyone who knows my most beloved designs know i love crosses and checkerboards!

Find it kinda funny but also interesting that the reason i dislike gen 6 of pokemon and the reason i like gen 4 of pokemon is basically the same reason, in that both I feel are the biggest 'potential' generations.

Gen 6 is so frustrating because theres so much stuff that goes completely unused (those doors in the I think desert? Haunt me.) or evidently shunted to the next generation (zygardes whole quest in sumo!! Wtf!!) But generation 4's kinda the opposite in that its wierdly empty in places... it really feels like Baby Gen 5 with the vibe of the plot. The needlessly complex world creation story, the sheer amount of legendaries with the their own little story (which they kinda stopped doing) its a super wierd generation. It gives you so much to think about.

So I dont quite get why I dont feel the same about gen 6. AZ and the fucking town laser life sucking machine? Fucking amazing. There was a pokemon war? Hell yes, what are they going to do with this. But man. It just... doesnt go anywhere! Team flare is so boring and have the flimsiest motivation! Aaaaargh the setup is so good on the backstory but the main gameplay doesnt match it at all!!! Its not even that I want them to go full horror on the implications of Pokemon But War, but gen 5's main plot is so philosophical and intriguing without being at all unchild friendly. Like, they clearly can do a darker/more nuanced plot without pushing the series's tone too far. Mystery dungeon is right there too. Like, gen 4 doesnt really go places with its plot either, but idk, at least spear pillar is climactic, even if it feels like it gets dropped and never mentioned again. But pretty much every games post-plot but pre-elite 4 is a wierd limbo so. Idk.

Itd obviously get tiresome if every game did it but wough, gen 5's ending where it isnt beating the champion is so good. Gives you that little bit of unfinishedness to incite you to keep playing.

Maybe its just the games themselves. Its so sad bdsp werent proper remakes because, again, along with 6 its the most undercooked generation. And im saying that as someone who grew up with it. It needed the hgss treatment more than any other generation. *sigh*

Its so bittersweet that I grew up on gen 4/5 which are, in hindsight, complete outliers on having a fairly complex/serious plot, and actually the plots in the newer games are, if anything, a return to form. I guess gen 2's plot with the rival and the rockets gets close to that? But that's kinda it.

Sumo is also wierd. I forget it exists because I dont want to think about how much of a relief it was that they werent going to do the same thing over and over forever. *sad noises* Its the perfect generation, tonally, for what a pokemon game should be, even if it isnt my favourite or what I want.

Ok so college is a whole thing these days so

I told u how first year has three subjects- anatomy biochem and physiology right? My coplege is doing this thing where each section only does one subject for a whole week? Idk why but yeah, this week i have anatomy completely

Now thing is, i LOVE anatomy it's my fav of the three subjects. But they're going So Fast? It makes no sense idk why they're doing this. Apparently they wanna cover the syllabus quick so they can revise a bunch of times, but they're going so fast we can barely keep up :")

They're doing like a bunchhh of topic in a day so i have to come home and revise them if i wanna remember anything. Which is why I've been so busy sigh

Socially speaking im vibign:) i have great friends now! This one girl especially, we're v similar and we study together. It gets intense sometimes lol but shes a great study buddy and yeah it's fun

Abt my crush, lol uhh i kinda got bored? Im like. Over him. We're friends now but yea I don't rlly like him anymore, it was fun for the week it lasted but yeahh

oh god that sounds so stressful!! that’ll be us in math class the weeks leading up to final exams lmao (we’re a few weeks behind and my teacher is very worried we won’t be able to cover everything that’ll be in the exam) and that also sounds really bad when you have a week of classes you don’t like as much :/ sending you lots of energy to get through it <333

I’m so glad you’ve made some good friends!! that girl sounds great, and I’m happy you stayed friends with your crush even though the romantic feelings faded! having a good friend group (in german you say friend circle and I just had the painful urge to write that) is great, and it’s super fun to study together! that’s what I’m looking forward to most abt finals, my friends and I will be able to just get together and spend the whole day vibing (and hopefully studying at least a little) together :D

my day was pretty good, we started doing integral calculus in math this monday and at first it was fun and interesting and new, but now I'm getting used to it and it's tragically easy :/ I want to be challenged! I haven't tried any actually complex problems yet, so I'm looking forward to those coming up!! I also went clothes shopping, I wasn't 100% successful but I got the most important things, a new bra and new gym shorts for pe, I really really wanted a black button though and they didn't have on in my size :’(

idk if I’ll be able to go to parkour tomorrow bc I’m writing a physics exam on friday, but I really want to so I’ll have to see I guess (i’m actually studying for physics right now)
