hello dear friends! just letting you know that i have decided to try out the scots gaelic spelling of my name for a while to see if i prefer it to the english one. i deliberated about the matter for a long time before settling on edward but i have been Gazing Wistfully at the alternate spelling ever since then so i figured i may as well give it a chance given that i am as much scottish as i am english in all except physical location. in my accent the pronunciation is the same, and most of you call me ned anyway, so there will probably be very little change on the whole, but [vague gesture]. who am i to resist a little E with an accent

If you really think about it, both Crowley and Aziraphale are basically confessing their love and asking the other to spend forever with them in that final scene but in such entirely different ways that they both ended up feeling rejected by that offer instead. It's kinda masterful to be able to write that tbh.

Crowley's offer is relatively open in it's romance even though he doesn't quite get all the way there. The intended message is somewhere along the lines of "We're an us and I would like to be that us forever" and "We can be just like that other Demon and Angel couple who were clearly in love, if you'd like."

I feel like before Aziraphale started talking about rejoining Heaven, his confession didn't necessarily involve running away even. After all, he'd wanted to go to an alcoholic breakfast at the Ritz just moments ago, he loves his plants and his car. He definitely loves Earth, he just loves Aziraphale more and he wants to keep him safe. And the thing he wants to keep him safest from is Heaven, who tried to destroy him and treated him poorly for years. Crowley knows with everything that he is that Heaven is cold and cruel and heartless but no matter how hard he tries to explain that to Aziraphale, he never understands. He'll never give up on them. So they literally have to leave behind everything else they both love to be together and safe but Crowley will do that without a second thought because he loves Aziraphale the most and he wants to spend forever with him.

And while it's possible? I personally feel like Aziraphale didn't entirely miss the romance of Crowley's proposal, but considering what Crowley is also rejecting with it (his own redemption, the goodness of Heaven, a chance to make the world a better place, the safety of not being outsiders, and trusting Aziraphale to make a good choice for the two of them), Aziraphale literally feels burned by it. How can Crowley not want these things? How can he not believe in these things? It breaks Aziraphale's heart.

Aziraphale's proposal, on the other hand, is more subtle in it's romance but it's definitely there. He frontloads it with what he's the most excited about which is Crowley being reinstated as an Angel. I wrote a whole thing about this here but basically, not only does Crowley being an Angel again really make everything about Aziraphale's worldview a lot cleaner, but he also feels like it's something Crowley desperately deserves. Aziraphale's true offer, once he gets the whole thing out, involves them together and safe as Angels in Heaven, doing Good, keeping the Earth safe and protected, forever. If you really pay attention, the longer Aziraphale talks about his "job offer" and tries to sell it to Crowley, the less he is being shy about what he's really, really asking for. It becomes all, "Come with me" and "*We* can make a difference" and "I need you." It's all trust and love and forever.

But unfortunately for Aziraphale, there is basically no way Crowley can hear this offer and not experience it as confirmation of his worst fears: That he's not good enough for Aziraphale. That Aziraphale can't love him how he is currently. That Aziraphale just needs his help, rather than cares about or wants him. That Aziraphale still doesn't, after all this time and evidence, understand how horrible Heaven is. That this whole time, they've just been an arrangement after all. It breaks Crowley's heart.

WIP Intro - Colour WIP

When a Purple mage – part of the serving class – is found and saved from following her colours expectations, she joins an overambitious heist crew, looking to obliterate a device that could change the world as they know it.  As she learns more about the world and her magic, she slowly comes to realise that real life isn’t quite as perfect as the stories she was told…

Starring!

Fina Luceros: Purple mage, sheltered from the outside world for fear of her being snatched away and groomed into servitude. Idealistic dreamer, anticipates things to be much more exciting than they end up being. Eleven years old and eager to please.

Red: Red mage, living legend, survived a typically deadly colour swarm and emerged changed from the event. Leader of the heist crew and the one who stopped Fina being snatched away. Arrogant and head-strong, often looks down on others for not matching his skill level. Completely blind.

Clem: Orange mage. Expelled student who was studying the effects of colour storms (and their absence) on mages. Badly affected by an old orange storm, and feels the impact of it quite consistently. Cannot stand Red.

Sunny: Yellow mage. Stoic and serious, speaks very rarely, mostly uses sign language to be understood.

Lief: Green mage. Non-nonsense, runs the business behind the scenes. Excellent kickass grandma vibes. Wants to be Normal.

Brighton Blackling: Blue mage, heir to a very powerful conglomerate and determined to keep it that way. Scientist and inventor. Obnoxious asshole, looks down on nearly everyone for pretty much everything. The one who called for and is funding the heist.

Bernadette Blackling: Magicless, Brighton's younger sister, desperate to inherit the family business. Diligent socialite with a heart of ice. Methodical and ruthless, working hard to out-do her brother and earn the inheritance, and created:

Elan Soot: White mage, failed test subject in Bernadette's bid to create a mage able to control all colours. Emerged stripped of and tormented by any pigment - works to bleach them out and make a 'perfect' world for themselves. Red's supposedly dead sibling, Bernadette's lover. Impulsive and abrupt.

Featuring fucked up sibling dynamics, a cutthroat gang trying to push the boundaries of what lowerclassmen can do, sentient and mood-altering magic, and cycles of behaviour that repeat over and over and over, often ending with abrupt betrayal.

it’s the final week of exams!! (or will be in about an hour) which is very exciting stuff as you can imagine!! so come friday i hope y’all are ready and active for me to return (though probably without any fics to post immediately) !!!

other than that i wanted to show you guys this tiktok because i saw it as i was writing is it freedom? and it made me so :((( so yeah. and on the topic of is it freedom,,,,

i’m hoping for it to be my most inclusive fic yet!!! which means no gender, no white-coded reader, just complete anonymity. so this also means no physical descriptions of the reader’s parents, other than their behaviours and the backstory!!! i’m HOPING. obviously i won’t always get everything right but i am hopeful that if i get anything wrong you guys will be able to correct me :’) but also hopefully in a nice and respectful way!!!

i am not a spanish speaker, which means that i won’t be including any spanish unless i’m advised by someone who DOES speak the language!! which also means we can avoid that whole thing of the reader being unable to understand spanish although some of y’all might be able to!!

i don’t exactly know where that fic is going yet, but i have a lot of hope for it!! i think it has potential for sure!!! and i’m excited to be writing something new, even though i’m kinda struggling with pinning down the spiderverse characterisations!!

so yeah. part two of that IS coming and i also do have some gender neutral joel fics in the works too :’) i understand how frustrating it can be to read x reader fics and the descriptions be so incredibly not aimed at you. i cant make promises and i will probably make mistakes but in the new era of post a level writing i’m hoping to be better and more inclusive <3 love you all sm.
