Regulus doesn’t like when he’s left alone with his thoughts. His mind wanders, causing him to be put in a bad place. Ever sense he’s had a crush on James, it’s gotten ten times worse. He started crushing on James 3 years ago, when he was 13. Now he’s 16, and more in love than he should be.

James, strong and healthy, fun and cute, handsome and funny. Who wouldn’t have a crush on him? Regulus knows James is out of his league, so instead of trying, he simply avoids James.

This was all going fine until he was walking to his next class and James appears beside him. Regulus jumps. “Christ, Potter.”

“Reggie!”

“Don’t call me that.”

“Reg?”

“No.”

“Cutie.”

“James, what do you need?” Regulus asks.

“I was wondering if you’d like to come to Hogsmeade with me this weekend.” James asks, grinning at Regulus.

“Staying in Hogsmeade with you and your group sounds dreadful.” Regulus deadpans.

James grimaces. “No, I mean alone.”

Regulus’s expression sours. “What kind of prank is this?”

“None? I wanted to ask you out!” James defends.

“Funny.” Regulus scoffed. “Leave me alone.” Regulus turns on his heel, away from his class, knowing James would follow him if he went to class.

Regulus left James behind him. Regulus didn’t know who dared James to ask, or if it was his idea of a funny little joke, but it was terrible for Regulus.

It was nearly midnight. Well last curfew when Regulus sat in the astronomy tower. He had a cigarette in his hand, though he had no real intention of smoking it. He hadn’t even brought a lighter.

He heard the door open, and he whipped around in fear of it being Filch. The door closed, and nobody was there. Regulus got up from his spot, where he could watch the stars. “Hello?”

James took of his cloak, appearing. He looked a bit disheveled, but that was normal. “Regulus, I want to go out with you. It wasn’t a prank.”

“I don’t believe you.” Regulus confessed.

“I’m in love with you. Probably since I first met you, Regulus. By all gods and goddesses alike, I’m in love with you.” James said, his voice breaking. “Please, give me a chance.”

Regulus huffed a laugh. He wasn’t sure what he did to make James feel like that. “I’m not worth all of that.” Regulus told him, closing his eyes.

“Of course you’re worth it.” James sighed. He reached out to Regulus. Regulus didn’t pull away. “Please, give me a chance.”

Regulus hesitated before nodding. “Okay.”

James smiled, and Regulus smiled back.

Hi! I finally got around to downloading Webtoon (I kept forgetting😅) and reading Bird in a Cage there! And naturally it's a banger!

In particular I thought the lighting, especially when Lottie was on stage, and during the scene at the vanity, looked super cool!

Also Lottie being swallowed up by Sonny's coat was so cute, she looked so cozy!

In general I love Lottie to pieces, she's definitely my favorite of the three, and I think she deserves to hit Adrien with a crowbar and feel all the power he held over her fall away.

As someone who currently studies English literature, I am absolutely, wholeheartedly and utterly obsessed with 'The Ethics of Relationships'!

It is such a good series! It's probably one of the best, if not the best, series that I've ever read on Tumblr.

I actually really enjoyed this chapter. I think it really responded well to the previous chapters, and it worked really well as a set-up for the final instalment.

As I am writing now and reflecting upon your work, which I read for the first time yesterday, the first scenes that spring to mind are Suguru's scene of self-reflection and Reader's dream of having an engagement party.

Personally, I am a huge fan of how you write Suguru in general, and I adore and cherish your Professor Geto, and I just really appreciated how you tackled Suguru's mental deliberation. I thought it was relatable, true to Suguru's character, and just really interesting to read.

As for the engagement party scene, I think I was so surprised to read it that when I read it, I just let out a small little gasp, and a little small 'oh no', and it was just so sad because it just hinted at the potential of what could have been. (I am so happy that the ending is going to be a happy one for them!) I think the dream motif worked really well here, and I love how it echoes and responds to previous parts while being harmonious, cool and insightful.

I adore your writing style. I really do. I love that your writing strikes the balance of being clean and slick, and descriptive and evocative. I love that your writing reads as though it's been edited, well thought-through, and I love how it's paced. I think you're really, really talented.

This series is a true joy to read, and I always get really excited whenever I see updates regarding this series! I'm really excited to read chapter six!
