Prologue Part One...
"I want to congratulate you all, once again, on getting this job. Hopefully you'll enjoy this summer as much as we all do!"
I squinted my eyes as I looked at my employer giving a longwinded speech about how myself and a bunch of other 17-year-olds got the job to work as camp counsellors at a summer camp.
"Before you go, I want to remind you that your emails should have all of the relevant information regarding your buddy. This should help you both settle in nicely and make friends. After all, a happy team is good for the kids."
My employer, Mr. Fox, smiled at the group of us as we all waited impatiently to get on the coach already.
As if reading our minds, the coach driver approached him and mumbled something to him, making him straighten up and nod. The coach driver headed back to the coach, getting in, as Mr. Fox cleared his throat.
"Okay, you should all get going now, but remember to have fun! This is more than just a job, it's an experience!"
He looked out at us all, as if expecting some sort of reaction, but everyone stayed staring at him until he waved us away. I followed the group of teens onto the coach, taking a seat in the middle by the window since I was one of the first few on.
I didn't really know anybody, at least I didn't think I did. The job came up as an opportunity advertised at school and I applied because I needed the money before I headed off to university. My friends didn't want to do it with me which meant I was alone, but I tried not to worry about it too much. Making friends wasn't impossible.
As I put my seatbelt on and got comfortable, a pretty girl stopped by my seat and looked down questioningly.
"Is this seat taken?" she asked, and I noticed she had an accent that I couldn't quite pinpoint just yet.
"No, go for it," I said with a small smile.
She flashed me an easygoing smile in return, before putting her backpack up top and taking a seat beside me. Admittedly, I grew a little nervous as I realised there and then that it had been a long time since I'd had to make friends with someone, and I couldn't for the life of me remember how to make conversation.
"So what's your name?" she asked, taking the lead (to my relief).
"Y/N," I said with a nod. "Y/N Y/L/N."
"Y/N," she repeated, and I still couldn't figure out where she was from – Australia, maybe? Or New Zealand? I could never tell the difference – but it sounded pretty cool. "Nice to meet you, Y/N... wait, I think we're buddies! Hold on..."
She pulled out her phone and began to scroll through a bunch of stuff before nodding in agreement and showing me her email.
"Right there. Y/N Y/L/N." She smiled widely. "We're buddies."
I chuckled at her enthusiasm. "I guess we are... so you must be Alycia?"
"Alycia," she repeated in agreement. "Alycia Debnam-Carey."
"Well, nice to meet you too, Alycia," I said, before adding curiously, "I'm sorry, this is going to sound stupid, but where are you from?"
She chuckled and it sounded adorable, lighting up the whole coach. "I'm from Australia, but I've lived here for a few years now."
"Ah, I figured it was Australia," I said, nodding my head. "Makes sense."
"No problem," she said with amusement. "I'm guessing you're from around here then."
"Yeah, I go to [your school name]," I said, turning so I could face her better.
"Oh, see, I go to [another school name]," she said with realisation. "Not far from each other."
"Apparently not," I said with a stifled smile. "So what made you want to do this? You really love kids or something?"
She nodded in agreement. "Yes, actually, that's exactly it."
"I was kidding."
She laughed quietly. "Well, I wasn't. I just thought it would be nice to do something like this before I go to university. Spice up my summer a bit."
I nodded in acknowledgment and she stared at me curiously.
"How about you?" she asked, and the coach began to move off when she did.
"I'd like to say it was something cute like your answer," I admitted, "but I just needed the money to be honest."
She cracked a smile and I noticed how it matched her eyes perfectly.
"It seemed like a good way to make some more money before uni," I continued. "Plus, I guess, like you said, it should make for a good summer. I mean, the activities these kids get to do..." I raised an eyebrow. "Canoeing? Rock climbing? Pottery class? That's some rich people shit right there. I definitely never did that as a kid."
She snickered, nodding in agreement. "Fair point. It looks fun, that's for sure."
I hummed in agreement.
"Also, you're not like, a weirdo, so that means being buddies should be fun," she added.
I felt my cheeks heating up as I smiled with amusement. "Er, thanks, I guess?"
Her green eyes lit up as she mirrored my smile. "It's a compliment."
I couldn't help but laugh. "I figured."
She got comfortable in her seat and looked down the aisle before sighing to herself. "How long is this trip again?"
I checked my watch. "It's nine now, so... three hours, give or take."
"Awesome, I'm gonna take a nap," she said instantly, before crossing her arms and shuffling about until she found a spot.
"You're tired?"
"Didn't sleep much last night," she said as she closed her eyes. "Don't wanna be crabby when I'm there."
I quirked a brow as I studied her. She was anything but crabby, and in fact seemed like she was wide awake. Strange girl, for sure.
"You're staring," she said, before opening an eye and looking at me. "What's up?"
My lips curled into a smile and I soon began to shake my head, stifling laughter. "No reason. I guess I'll wake you when we're there."
She opened her other eye and smiled tiredly, before giving me a cute little nod. "Greatly appreciated, love."
I ran a hand through my hair as my smile somehow stayed fixed on my face. She closed her eyes again and I distracted myself by looking out the window, but all I could think about was how strange this girl next to me was.
Tumblr media
I was unpacking my suitcase when the camp leader was making her rounds in the counsellors' cabin. There were several bunk beds and I was sharing with Alycia, who dibbed the top bunk after claiming she'd always wanted one as a kid. Again, strange girl, what'd I tell you?
"...and who do we have next?"
I looked up from my suitcase and saw the camp leader approaching Alycia and I with a warm smile – a blonde woman in her forties. Alycia jumped off the top bunk and joined my side, smiling widely at me before looking to the leader.
"I'm Y/N Y/L/N," I introduced myself, returning the leader's smile.
"Great to have you here, Y/N," she said enthusiastically. "I'm just introducing myself to everyone and letting them know who I am and what my role is. So, I guess," she laughed, "I'm Marissa and I'm your point of contact for any issues or queries you have."
"So, my boss?" I suggested with a raised eyebrow.
"Technically, yes," she nodded, then shook her head, "but I hate the way that makes me sound. So consider me one of your colleagues, like everyone else here."
"Okay, cool," I said with a nod, before looking to a quiet Alycia, wondering when she'd introduce herself.
"And would you look who decided to sign up for this summer," Marissa said knowingly, smirking at Alycia. "Alycia Debnam-Carey."
Alycia smiled awkwardly and I grew confused. Did they know each other or something...?
"I see you read my name on the list," Alycia said quickly, motioning to the clipboard in Marissa's hand. "I mean, how else would you know who I am?"
"What are you talking about, silly? Why wouldn't I know my only niece–"
"Nice, thank you! So are you, Marissa," Alycia cut her off, nodding her head.
I looked between them both as, clearly, Alycia was terrible at hiding the fact that she was Marissa's niece. I wasn't sure why she was hiding it, but whatever. It was too amusing to witness.
"Okay...," Marissa said with confusion, eyeing Alycia curiously, before looking between us with a smile again. "I'll leave you lovely ladies to settle in. There's no pressure today since the kids will arrive tomorrow, but do read your handbooks for more information. And if you have any questions, feel free to find me or any of the other supervisors."
I nodded and watched her leave, before leaning against the bunk as Alycia looked everywhere but at me.
With an entertained smile, I said, "So you're related, huh?”
She played it off very badly. "Pfft, what? What are you talking about?"
I chuckled. "You're very strange, you know that? But don't worry. Your secret is safe with me."
She finally met my eyes, startling green ones filled with relief as a sheepish smile spread on her lips. "Thank you..."
"I mean, I'm definitely curious why you're hiding it, but I'm sure I'll find out eventually," I added, before going back to my suitcase.
"Sure...," she said sarcastically, before jumping up onto the top bunk to finish unpacking.

The next morning, the kids arrived in coaches and were getting their initiation in the main hall, leaving all the camp councillors to prepare for their daily activities.
Alycia and I were assigned to fishing for the morning, so we found ourselves by the lake in the early morning sun. It was beautiful out and I was grateful to be spending the summer in such a lovely area. I couldn't have imagined being somewhere like this otherwise, or even having the opportunity to.
"Okay, so according to this, we need to find the instructors and the fishing cabin," I said as I studied the handbook. "It should be nearby apparently. Hold on, let me get my map."
"No need, I know the way," Alycia said with a shrug, before leading the way.
"Oh, awesome," I said, following after her and falling into step. "How d'you know where it is?"
Alycia paused, before answering, "Studied the map last night."
I hummed, impressed. "That explains how you knew where to find breakfast this morning."
She chuckled and I cracked a smile before looking ahead. Indeed, Alycia was correct as I saw a cabin up ahead, presumably where the instructors were.
"So, are you excited to get our group of kids today?" I asked, glancing her way.
She smiled with ease. "Yeah, I am. It should be fun! Aren't you?"
"I guess," I said, noticing how her excitement was contagious and made me feel like a smile was permanently fixed onto my face. "Let's hope they like us."
She slapped me gently on the arm, taking me by surprise.
"Pardon you?" I said sarcastically with a quirked brow.
"Why would would you say that?" she asked incredulously, an amused smile on her face. "Of course they'll like us... right?"
I chuckled. "Seriously? You're fussed about that?"
"As much as I love kids, you can get some really evil ones," she said knowingly. "You don't want to be on the wrong side of an evil child, Y/N."
"Clearly you've been," I realised, finding her expression amusing. "Care to share?"
She rolled her eyes playfully. "It wasn't me actually. It was a friend of mine. We were doing work experience at some primary school when one of the boys threw water balloons at her."
"That doesn't seem so bad," I said with a shrug.
"She was holding a tray of hot tea," Alycia added bitterly.
I winced. "Damn... remind me not to carry tea around or piss off any water balloon-owning boys."
Alycia breathed out with exasperation, but I could see her laugh lines appearing as she held one in.
"C'mon, let's get settled," I said to her when we reached the cabin.
After meeting the fishing instructors and being told what and what not to do, Alycia and I joined them by the lake and waited around until our group would finish with initiation.
"You know," I said, earning Alycia's attention, "I was thinking about yesterday and how you didn't want me to know about Marissa being your auntie."
Alycia closed her eyes. "Oh, god..."
"Nobody will care, y'know," I said to her with a reassuring smile. "We're all grown up. Nobody cares how you got the job, if that's what you're worried about."
Alycia opened her eyes and forced a small smile. "Right."
"I mean, it's not like your family owns the camp, is it?"
I was only joking, but the way Alycia's face changed made me realise that maybe I was right. Her eyes widened so much that I could make out the green, even with the sun streaming in my eyes.
My jaw dropped. "Your family owns the camp?!" Everything started to fit together like puzzle pieces in my mind as I realised aloud, "That makes so much sense... why you know where everything is. You were here as a kid, right? You would have to be if your family owned it."
Overcoming her terrible ability to lie, Alycia moved forward and glanced around before smiling dismissively. "That's not it. I mean, it is, but–"
"Wait, aren't the people who own this place like millionaires?" I realised, raising my eyebrows. "This is one of their many camps around the world, right? Shit, is that why you wanted to hide it?"
"That's not right!" Alycia exclaimed awkwardly. "I mean, okay, it is, but it's not my family. It's my auntie's family! She's the millionaire. Not me."
I smiled with disbelief. "Holy shit. That's wild."
"Look, it's not that big of a deal," she tried to laugh it off nervously, "I just needed a summer job and my aunt helped me out. She lives here and runs this camp, so she didn't mind giving me the job. No biggie."
I was still very surprised, never knowing anyone who was this closely linked to a wealth of that amount. I always assumed people with that much money were quite snobby – presumptuous, I know, but can you blame me? – but Alycia was way too nice to be like that, as was her auntie. Guess I was wrong.
"Look, I get why you hid it now," I said, hoping to reassure her. "Terribly, might I add, but I get it." I smiled to hopefully make her feel better. "Like you said, it's not a big deal. Don't worry. I won't say anything to anyone."
She seemed very relieved as her shoulders relaxed and an appreciative glint was in her eyes.
"Thank you," she said gently.
Sensing her discomfort, I tried to change the subject as I nudged her in the shoulder gently and nodded to my fishing rod. "So, how are your fishing skills?"
"They should be good," she said, piquing my interest, "since I was one of the kids who did the 'rich people shit' here when I was younger."
It took me a second to realise where I'd heard that before, until I realised I'd said that to her on the coach ride yesterday. Cringing with embarrassment, I face palmed as I heard her laughter surrounding me.
"Sorry for saying that," I apologised with warm cheeks. "If I had known..."
"It's cool," she said with a suppressed smile. "But seriously? I can help if you need any. I fished at a camp back in Australia as a kid. Was pretty fun."
I nodded, but I still felt embarrassed as she studied me with humoured eyes.
Why was I like this?
Tumblr media
"It's been two weeks, mum, are you really gonna do this every day for the next month?"
My mum smiled teasingly, knowing it would bug me. Nonetheless, I cracked a smile as she and my little sister stared at me through the phone.
I was FaceTiming them in my free time and updating them on my life since almost twenty-four hours ago when I'd last called them. I'd been doing it every day since arriving here because my family just happened to be that annoyingly protective.
"You know I'm extremely jealous of you, right?" my sister, Y/S/N, said with an eye roll, though she was smiling. "Mum keeps giving me chores. Bit of a piss-take if you ask me."
My mum slapped her upside the head, making me laugh at her expression.
"Mind your fuckin' language, Y/S/N," she warned, only making me laugh harder.
"I wonder where she gets it from," I joked.
"So, how's it going?" my mum changed the subject. "What did you do today?"
I thought to myself as I recalled the day. "Er, same old same old. Went for a hike this morning, then had some lunch. Did some rock climbing in the afternoon and now we're having some leisure time before dinner. It's not too bad. Really fun, actually."
"You should've taken me with you," Y/S/N mumbled, making my mum nudge her with annoyance.
"Shut up, you love it here," my mum said, before pulling her close with a teasing smile. She looked to me, adding, "We're having fun too, Y/N."
"All she keeps saying is how much she misses you," Y/S/N deadpanned, making me roll my eyes playfully.
"Funny since I feel like I've barely left 'cause I call you every bloody day," I said with a knowing look.
"You know your dad likes it when you check in," my mum countered.
"Yeah, so do you," I fired back, making her laugh.
"Yeah," she agreed between laughter.
Before I could say anything, I looked up at the sound of the cabin door opening and saw Alycia walking in. When she spotted me, a smile appeared on her lips and her eyes lit up.
"There you are," she said, approaching me. "I was looking for you. I wanted to ask if– oh, shit, are you on the phone? Sorry. I can leave if–"
"Who's that?" my sister asked curiously.
"Oi, you finally made friends?" my mum joked a little too loudly, making me smile with embarrassment and kill myself internally.
"Sorry, that's my family," I explained to Alycia. "It's okay. If you need me, I can–"
"Hi, Y/N's friend who I've never met before and probably never will!" Y/S/N sang from the phone, making me release a shaky breath through gritted teeth.
Alycia was clearly amused as she took a seat beside me on my bed and appeared in the camera.
"Hi there," she greeted politely, a shy smile on her face. She gave a little wave as she glanced to me, before adding, "I'm Alycia."
For someone with a big mouth, Y/S/N went quiet as she awkwardly waved back in response.
"Not so much to say now, eh, tit face?" I mumbled.
"Alycia, you must be Y/N's buddy, right?" my mum realised, surprising me with how much she listened. "The one from Australia?"
I sighed to myself as Alycia laughed from beside me.
"Yeah, that's me," Alycia said with a nod. "I'm guessing you're Y/N's mum?"
"She's probably talked badly of me when mentioning me, right?" my mum joked, making me groan loudly.
Alycia nudged me in the shoulder gently as she answered my mum, "Only nice things, Mrs. Y/L/N, honestly."
"Call me Y/M/N," my mum insisted. "So, how are you finding the whole camp thing? You enjoying it?"
"She's just gonna talk your ear off, so you may as well just take it," I said to Alycia, handing her my phone.
With amusement, she accepted it and began to chat to my mum on FaceTime. Y/S/N chimed in some times and I merely sat there, praying to God that none of them would say anything embarrassing, which of course was unlikely.
"Right, I'll leave you girls to it," my mum said after ten minutes of pointless conversation. "Enjoy your evening. Love you lots, Y/N."
Feeling Alycia watching me, I got out with embarrassment, "Love you too, mum. Bye."
She waved goodbye to me before hanging up. When I put my phone away, I stood up and avoided Alycia's eyes.
"Sorry about that," I said awkwardly. "She does that a lot."
"No need to apologise," Alycia said with a kind smile as she stood up too. "They're lovely."
I finally met her eyes, giving her a knowing look. "They're embarrassing. My mum literally insists on one call every day to make sure I didn't happen to die in the forest or anything."
Alycia's smile widened as she laughed at my joke. Admittedly, my stomach flipped at the sound, as I realised just how amazing her laugh sounded.
"That's sweet though," Alycia defended.
"It's sweet when it's not your own parents," I countered.
She shrugged. "I guess. Mine aren't that overprotective."
I leaned against the bunk as I asked, "Have you talked to yours since we got here?"
"Once, when we arrived, but nothing since then," she said with a shrug. "They're not fussed since my auntie is here.
"Ah," I said with realisation. "Makes sense. She literally does this for a living, no wonder they trust you."
She chuckled and nodded, before crossing her arms and looking down at her shoes.
"What do you parents do?" I asked curiously.
"Oh, you know...," she said dismissively. "Finance."
"Sounds... fun," I said with a confused smile, before adding, "Your parents and your auntie must be complete opposites."
She cracked a smile as she shrugged again. "Yeah."
"What did you need anyway?" I asked. "When you came in before my mum hijacked our conversation to speak with you?"
Alycia raised her brows with realisation. "Oh, yeah. I wanted to ask if you wanted to get dinner together. You don't have to though."
I couldn't help but smile. "Sure thing. I see you're not sick of me just yet."
As we began to walk to the door, she glanced at me with a playful smile. "Surprisingly, no, I'm not."
I shoved her jokingly, making her stifle a laugh, before feeling my phone vibrate. I saw it was a text from my sister.
She's way too pretty to be your friend, it read, making me roll my eyes.
"Who is it?" Alycia asked as she held the door open for me.
"Sister," I said, before nodding appreciatively at her and walking through.
"Already?" she asked with confusion. "She okay?"
As I wrote my response, I answered, "Yeah, she's just being a tit."
Dickhead, I texted her back, before smiling with satisfaction and pocketing my phone.
Tumblr media
When I signed up for this job, I honestly didn't expect to be enjoying it this much. Not only were the kids lovely, but so were the other workers. Plus, the activities were super fun, especially because we basically got paid to have a good time.
I'd like to think I had a new friend also, which was Alycia. We'd grown closer in the past four weeks of being buddies and working together, and to my surprise, it felt like we'd known each other way longer. I couldn't remember the last time I'd grown this comfortable with someone so quickly, but I tried not to question it since I was trying to enjoy this summer the best I could.
Speaking of Alycia... I was talking to one of the instructors about where the spare hiking boots were one day, and when I finished my conversation and the instructor left, I was approached by the Australian herself.
She had something behind her back as she smiled brightly my way, making my stomach do another flip, something I noticed it had been doing a lot whenever I was around her.
"Hey," I greeted her, returning the smile. "You good?"
She glanced over her shoulder for some reason, before nodding and revealing what was behind her back – some freshly picked flowers.
"Aww, Alycia, those are beautiful," I said, admiring them and giving her a smile. I knew how much she loved flowers, so this wasn't too unexpected. "You wanna put them in the cabin?"
"No, actually, they're for you," she said confidently, before holding them closer to me.
I was certainly surprised, but accepted the flowers. "Oh, I– er, wow, thank you."
I wasn't too sure if she was giving me them in a friendly way or in a bit-more-than-friendly way, so my brain was still catching up.
"I wanted to ask you if you wanted to accompany me to the campfire this evening," she said, her gaze softening ever so slightly, making my throat go dry.
Was she asking me out?
"Oh, er...," I began, but was still a little confused.
She sensed my confusion and subtly motioned to the kid that was standing nearby, watching us in the distance. I wasn't sure what that meant either, but Alycia's little nod made me play along.
"I'd love to," I said, thought it sounded more like a question as I quirked a brow.
She grinned and stepped back slightly, eyes lingering on mine. "Great. I'll see you later, Y/N."
Waving goodbye to her with my free hand, I called back, "See you later...?"
I watched as she walked away and eventually met with the kid, a young girl, in the distance and began talking to her about something. I was pretty confused, unsure whether that was for show or if she actually wanted to go with me, so I tried not to think about it as I put the flowers in some water and headed to the pottery room for our next class.
About twenty minutes later, I was sat at one of the benches with a few of the other kids, focusing my attention on carving into a pot I had made. It was pretty darn good, if I do say so myself, so I barely noticed when Alycia slipped onto the bench beside me until she leaned down on it and peered up at me with shimmering eyes.
"Hello," I said with a slight laugh, looking at her. "You okay?"
"Great," she settled, before looking at my pot. "Just as great as that looks."
"Cheers for that," I said, a little chuffed with myself, before distracting myself with carving a pattern.
A comfortable silence settled between us as she played with her own clay and I decorated mine, but I couldn't help but think about earlier and what she'd asked me. I wanted to know if she was genuinely asking or not, so I figured I'd just ask.
"Hey, Alycia," I got her attention without fully giving her mine so she wouldn't think I was thinking too hard on it. "D'you know earlier, when you asked me if I wanted to go to the campfire with you?"
"Yeah...?"
I licked my lips, a nervousness suddenly washing over me as I asked, "That was because of the kid, right?"
She nodded. "Yeah it was."
I swallowed hard as I nodded, trying to hide my disappointment. "I thought it was."
I could see her staring at me in my peripheral vision as she explained.
"Basically, Angelina likes Taylor but didn't know how to ask her to the campfire tonight, so she asked me to show her how. So, I figured I'd ask you in front of her to show her."
I nodded, glad I wasn't meeting her gaze otherwise she'd know for sure that I was disheartened.
"Why? Did you want me to ask you?" she asked with a raised brow.
"No, that's not what I meant," I said quickly, flustered at the situation. "I– erm–" But I didn't know what to say, so stopped speaking.
Thankfully, she didn't take much notice as she looped her arm through mine and grabbed my attention. I looked at her and she nodded ahead, making me follow her gaze. I saw Angelina approaching another kid, presumably Taylor, with a bouquet of freshly-picked flowers, just like Alycia had done earlier.
I couldn't hear what they were saying, but Alycia was very interested as she leaned against me and watched like it was the most interesting thing ever. It must have been going well as it soon ended with Taylor accepting the flowers and both girls grinning to each other. Angelina eventually turned to walk away, but not before finding Alycia's eyes and giving her a thumbs up with an adorable grin.
Alycia returned the thumbs up before sitting up straight and smiling widely at me, a look of pride on her face.
"I am a genius," Alycia said aloud, before popping her collars on her polo shirt for added effect.
I cracked a smile, admiring how cute she looked. "Debatable, but you're definitely helpful."
She gave me a knowing look, her green eyes dark as she held our gaze. "Flowers always work, Y/N. Who can say no to flowers?"
"True," I agreed with a nod, whilst also thinking about how it helped that the girl holding them was pretty awesome too.
"Anyway, forget that," she said quickly enough, before leaning in the palm of her hand and staring at me. "What d'you say then?"
I raised an eyebrow. "Pardon?"
She looked to me like I knew what she was talking about. "You know... to going to the campfire with me this evening."
I tried not to laugh. "I mean, I guess so, but–"
"As my date," she clarified, surprising me yet again.
I felt my mouth go dry as I raised my eyebrows. "Oh."
She waited patiently, eyes flickering between mine with confident green ones, though there was a hint of nervousness shining in them. I realised she was asking me out for real now and had to take a moment to acknowledge it before finally responding.
"Yeah," I said, finding my words. "I'd love to... yeah."
She smiled with relief. "Great. I can't wait."
I felt my cheeks grow warm as I returned her smile, feeling butterflies in my stomach at the way she stared at me, before looking down to to my carvings again.

Tumblr media
All knights were to adhere to the code of conduct, especially chivalry. During the Accolade, a ceremony in which squires enter knighthood, knights swear to defend the weak and uphold virtues such as compassion, loyalty, generosity, and truthfulness until the day they die. Of course, the oath they swore made them sound like the kindest bunch in the kingdom. They weren't. Most became power-hungry and obsessed with the idea of climbing the ranks. The Knights Legion, or the Legion of Honour, if you will, was filled with lazy drunkards and corrupted souls. You had watched many knights change over the years. They start off young and naive, but the world changes them. Your father didn't care much for that. As long as they were strong and hid their true nature from the public eye, they were as good of knights as any. You just hoped that his ignorance wouldn't come back to bite him.
You stood adjacent to your father on the altar. He unsheathed his sword when several squires and knights entered the room. Usually, the Accolade would take place after a battle, when the squires had proven their strength and loyalty to the kingdom, but desperate times call for desperate measures. You watched in silence as, one by one, each squire kneeled before the king and swore the oath. The king would then dub each squire a knight with the tap of his sword on their shoulders. It was a repetitive ceremony, and you weren't quite sure why your father had insisted you be present. You guessed that it was because one of the knights would become your personal knight.
It came down to the last couple of knights, and for some reason, you were a bit disappointed that you hadn't seen the boy from the courtyard. He was a squire, was he not? He was training with the others yesterday. Just as the thought crossed your mind, the doors opened, revealing the boy you had been thinking about, behind him was a shorter man you recognized as Sir Ackerman. Speak of the devil, and he doth appear, you supposed. After a pregnant pause, the ceremony resumed, and the boy quietly shuffled closer to the altar.
The ceremony came to an end, and the newly dubbed knights filtered out of the room. "Sir Jaeger, stay here a moment," your father called out, returning his sword to its scabbard. You hesitated to leave the room, were you meant to stay? Your father, perceptive as always, turned to you.
"You as well, [Name]," he motioned for you to step down from the altar alongside him. Sir Jaeger nervously approached and kneeled in front of your father.
"Your highness," he addressed your father.
"I believe both Sir Ackerman and the instructor discussed this matter with you?" the king asked, to which Sir Jaeger only nodded. "Right, [Name], Sir Jaeger will be your personal knight. He must protect you and only you, no matter the cost." your father sure had a way of putting things grimly, you could feel your hands become clammy, and you couldn't imagine how nervous the knight kneeling before you was feeling. Unsure of what to say, you nodded, fiddling with a frilly piece of fabric that lined your dress. Your father gave you a look that you could only describe as stern before leaving the room.
Now it was just you and a stranger, a stranger that has to follow you around everywhere you go in case of the rare occurrence that you are attacked within your own home. You couldn't blame him, though; you doubted he wanted to follow you around every day.
"Ther- there's no reason to bow any longer," you stuttered, eyeing him as he kneeled. He hastily stood to his feet as if following a command. You felt your heart pang at the thought. He didn't seem to speak much. Is this how it's going to be? Was he going to remain silent and follow your every command? You supposed that's what a personal knight was meant to do, but it was a bit saddening to think about. You tried not to let your disappointment show, but he seemed like the perceptive type. When he spoke, it confirmed your suspicions.
"What's wrong, princess?" he asked.
"Oh, nothing. I- uh, I just got lost in thought," you explained with hesitation. "You need to need to get your gear from the armoury, don't you?" you asked upon further examination of the boy. He was clad in a pair of boots, trousers, and a green tunic. He nodded in response.
"Why don't you go receive your gear while I head to the library?" you suggested as you began to walk. Sir Jaeger followed a few steps behind you.
"I don't believe I'm allowed to leave your side during my shift, princess," he replied. Part of you wished he had forgotten the oath he had sworn minutes ago, it was a foolish wish, but you were a foolish girl wishing for a crumb of freedom.
"I wouldn't tell anyone," you stated simply as if you were bartering for an item or service of some sort.
"Uh, my apologies, but I don't fancy getting scolded my first day on the job," he let out an awkward chuckle.
"Well, you can't go without your armour. I suppose we'll just have to head over to the armoury together."
________
One thing not many people knew about the castle was its many secret passages. They were once used as escape routes if when castle came under siege. The kingdom has been at peace with neighbouring nations for decades until now, so your father had them sealed up when you were little, but not before you found out about the one in your bedroom. You hadn't unsealed it in years because you never needed to, but now that you had a personal knight waiting outside your door, you finally had a reason. You didn't consider yourself very mischievous, but your father brought it upon himself. You doubted the castle would be attacked anytime soon. The neighbouring nation would more than likely attack a fort on the outskirts first. It's with these thoughts in your mind that you decide to push aside your dresser as quietly as possible and peel back the floral wallpaper that covered a hatch. Crouching down, you opened the hatch and entered the small crawlspace. Further down was a more spacious tunnel that led to a staircase.
You kept one hand on the stone brick wall to guide yourself through the darkness. The stench of mould and mildew was pungent, and out of the corner of your eye, you see something scurry across the floor. Yeah, no one had been down here in years, and you had half the mind to turn around and go back to sleep. Alas, you proceeded down the stairs, careful not to trip. Finally, you reached the end of the narrow passage. You pushed a rickety wooden door open and lantern light filtered out the darkness.
The passage led to the underground dungeons. You hadn't been down here often but recognized it by the iron doors that lined the hallway. Your eyes scanned the area. Odd, there weren't any guards present. You guessed it was your lucky day.
__________
Alone, at last, you sat down at your usual spot by the courtyard. You reached for your book and opened it to the page where you had left off on. The usual sound of swords clashing was no longer present. You supposed it was because most of the squires were knighted yesterday.
"You're quite the troublemaker, aren't you?" a voice startled you, causing your body to jolt. You whipped your head around and came face to face, or rather face to helm, with Sir Jaeger. You eyed his armour. It was different from most low-ranking knights, more intricate, and if you had to guess, crafted from a stronger metal. Though, you suppose he wasn't low-ranking since he was assigned to protect you. Thinking about it now, why was he assigned to you? He was a squire only yesterday. You expected someone more experienced. Perhaps, his swordsmanship was just that excellent.
"If you keep this up, you'll get me in trouble," he said, breaking your train of thought. You took a moment to watch as he sat down beside you before speaking up. "You wouldn't get in trouble. I'd just tell my father that it was my fault," you said, shaking your head and turning your attention back to the book on your lap.
"Not sure that's how it works, princess," he murmured.
"How'd you find me anyway?" you decided to change the topic.
"Well, it was getting late, so I decided to check on you only to find that you weren't even there, and there was an open hatch in the wall," he explained. "I went through the passage, and I figured I'd check the courtyard since I've seen you here often," he finished. You gave a curt nod, letting the conversation lapse.
"What're you reading?" the boy inquired after a long pause. He leaned closer to take a peek at your book. You slammed it shut, feeling warmth rise to your cheeks. "Love in Turmoil? Didn't take you for the romantic type," he laughed, and you huffed, giving him a shove.
"Yeah, so what?" you snapped back.
"Nothing wrong with it," the turquoise eyed boy raised his hands in defence.
"Right," you said, rolling your eyes.
"Look, uh- I know you're not too fond of the whole personal knight thing. I'm sorry, but once this whole 'on the brink of war' thing passes, things will go back to normal," he attempted to reassure you, and you began to feel a bit bad. You shouldn't be giving him such a hard time, but there's so much frustration boiling within you that has nowhere to go. You exhale and turn to face him.
"I'm sorry for the way I've been acting. I just..." You paused to think of the right words. A wistful sigh slipped past your lips, and you turned your gaze heavenward. You watched as two birds soared across the sky, and that's when it happened. In an instant, the world around you began to crumble.

(Welcome to the room of people
Who have rooms of people that they loved one day
Docked away
Just because we check the guns at the door
Doesn't mean our brains will change from hand grenades)
He remembers like it just happened yesterday. The only people who had shown him loveβ€” his parents. Huge men tearing his arms away from his mother's warm embrace, he remembers her screaming, his father demanding to release them, that the child meant no harm. That he was innocent.
"You would say that because you were the source of this Demon Child."
He can recall the way his heart cracked. After having to be called that, watching with empty eyes as a puddle of crimson like liquid flow on his feet. He no longer hears the screams of his parents.
"Mom? Dad?"
He hears a gun click, the men in their green uniforms yelling orders, staying a good distance away from him. When he hears no reply from his parents, something inside him snapped. They were the last people to hold his entire sanity together. Without an anchor to stop a ship from fall, it'll be like a speed of light before you'll see the action happening.
Those events caused chaos throughout Japan. And he was only 10 years old at that time.
"Demon Child, escapes, killing almost 30 of our fine men who came to put him in custody."
Always on the run, never finding a place to stay. A place to call home. No one was siding with him because of the way he looked. No one listened as he defended himself, telling his side of the story.
"I heard, he killed his parents too."
"He's said to be like a one man army. "
Laughing at society. How stupid must people be to always believe in the media's. How stupid of them to pray to God that he won't come, and do the same to their families. He never believed in anything. There was nothing to believe in a world filled with savages. There was no God controlling their lives, it was them, acting all religious and innocent. He was disgusted. He wanted to make them see reality.
Some think he was just a legend. Some knows he's lurking in the shadows in Tokyo. People using his title to scare little kids. Only his title was known, but never his name. His looks poorly described, instead they made up something that was close to make people believe.
"He had owl like hair and eyes, he was bigβ€” his body is some kind of ware human! He had sharp teeth, blood over his clothing. The Demon Child is on the lose, still growing everyday, please, if you have found anyone looking suspicious or matches the following details, immediately contact the nearest station."
He was all over the news. Soon he was about to go worldwide for exposing himself a lot. A man's gotta do what he has to do to survive right?
Everyone feared for their lives. Thinking they're all so saint, innocent, worthy enough to live. It made him puke in disgust.
Still you find yourself getting drunk of love because of this dangerous person.
(You're loving on the psychopath sitting next to you
You're loving on the murderer sitting next to you
You'll think, "How'd I get here, sitting next to you?"
But after all I've said, please don't forget)
How did you find yourself in a tight situation in the first place? Just a week ago you were just taking a train ride on the way home after school, it was already dark outside. If you haven't had a review study you would've been home already.
You would've never have to encounter him.
Like fate, you were being mugged, harassed. Long story short, you found yourself with ripped clothes, cowering in fear, then he swoons in. You can still hear the gun shots fresh in your head. The sound of bones cracking with shrill shrieks from the men in pain. Hearing a body came contact on the ground. You were afraid to meet your saviors eyes, having to experience this in first hand. Bokuto thought you were just some kind of harlot in the streets, but taking in a closer look. You were just a university student. An innocent one if he had to describe. He could hear your whimpers, see your body shaking.
He had one vow in his life after that faithful day, "Protect the weak, the innocent. Eliminate the threats." he never knew there would be people like you in this part of the world.
You remember his soft, big hands taking your smaller ones, he was gentle. He was far from what people had describe of him. But you never really believed in the Demon Child. You didn't even know you were holding hands with him. And that he saved you instead of killing you also. You were so shaken up by that day, he escorted you back to your apartment. Ever since Tokyo was in chaos, many people fled the city. Not much people in your apartment, but a lot of thugs down your blocks. He was about to leave you, disappear once again in the shadows, but you grabbed his hand, he was shocked. It was so gentle than what he has experienced before. You offered him to stay as a token of your gratitude. But you didn't know you were the ones who was staying with him forever.
You wanted to ask him where he came from. Where he was staying. You wanted to know his name, you wanted atleast some kind of background from him. But all he said were these simple words.
"Take it slow, darling. You don't know the half of the abuse."
and that's where your life started.
(We don't deal with outsiders very well
They say newcomers have a certain smell
You have trust issues, not to mention
They say they can smell your intentions)
After filing a report on murder of the men who had previously caused a scene. You were no longer safe in your apartment. Bokuto was no longer safe. You can hear loud footsteps coming from downstairs, the few people evacuating the building. All doors being kicked down, and inspected the rooms. You were the last room from the top of the building. Bokuto was calm, but inside him he doesn't want to leave without you. If he did, what would happen to you? Would those savages kill you for protecting him? No they weren't. He opens your window wide, looking at the next building just a few centimeters to jump on. Your heart was pounding, the footsteps were nearing. You felt nauseous, Bokuto grabs your jacket, and puts it on you, covering you with a hood and mask.
"Jump, I'll follow behind you."
You looked at him as if he was crazy. But you saw his dark eyes, his body in protective stance. He looked like a wolf shielding his mate. Your lips quivered, grabbing some of your belongings in a backpack, you gulped at the distance between your window and the building. Flinching as you hear the neighboring room doors burst open, you closed your eyes for a short moment, holding your breath and took a big leap on the building. Being resourceful, you used your bag as a soft cushion for impact. Grumbling to get up, your eyes scanning the opened window, waiting for Bokuto to join you.
Back in the room Bokuto was impressed at your action. When the locked door was being knocked on hard, he pushed all the furniture against it before jumping out, expertly landing on his feet in front of you. He grabs your arms, carrying you in a princess style, and started running.
"Just close your eyes if you don't want to see what's going to happen."
But you didn't, each sound of the gun shots, sirens the smell of gun powder, blood, smoke, everything you took in on that day as if you were reborn.
"You bought home another one, Bokuto san?"
You stood frozen in your spot. Bokuto had ran a long way, but being fazed by the sirens and gun shots, you didn't realize you were in some kind of dark building with a bunch of guys that look way more dangerous than thugs.
"She's different."
He pulls your hoodie off carefully, letting you hair fall down to your face. But you kept your mask on, remembering his words when he was running,
"Be careful with my crew. They're all quite wary with new comers, darling. We have....trust issues."
You gulped when Bokuto left your side, you hugged yourself as the boys began to huddle over you, eyes looking like they could kill you on the spot. The one who spoke earlier kept a good distance, but his eyes were cold as ice as they bore into you.
"Leave her. She's clean."
They all followed. Was he some kind of leader? Just what we're you getting yourself into?
(You're loving on the freakshow sitting next to you
You'll have some weird people sitting next to you
You'll think "How did I get here, sitting next to you?"
But after all I've said, please don't forget)
Everyone sat on the floor, having a short meeting with Bokuto. You on the other hand, just stayed seated on the corner, shying away from the men who seem to deem you as a threat.
"Hey, (Y/n), come here."
You hear his fingers snap, with shaking legs you slowly made your approach, he pats a spot next to him, gingerly taking a seat beside him. He spoke in a low tone voice.
"Do you know who we are?"
You shake your head, "N-no."
"Do you want to know who we are?"
You didn't move an inch when his hand came forward, brushing against your cheek for a short while, before pulling down your mask.
"You look much better like that, darling."
One second you were scared. Now you were flustered. Snapping out of the feelings, you let a weak, "yes". Wanting to know their identities, their background. Why they were all running away from the police. It took almost several hours of listening to everyone's stories, and names. Almost crying at everyone's stories, especially Bokuto's. You were understanding the deeper meaning on how life was so cruel. You learned that the man earlier was named, Akaashi Keiji. Bokuto's first encounter withβ€” people fear how intelligent he was. He was abused so much by his family for admiring the Demon Child. Taking defense on saying maybe he used to be innocent, and people mistaken him for his actions. He was Bokuto's most dearest and first friend.
"S-so, your name is Bokuto Koutarou?"
"Feels nice to hear it from you, darling."
"Hey, (Y/n). Be sure not betray us, or else."
The guy, Konoha, you presumed threatens. You almost hid yourself behind Bokuto by grabbing his arm in instinct, "Now, now, Konoha. You're scaring the little lady." Another guy, Washio if you have that correct came to defend you. The rest bickered on about you being a threat, and how someone as weak, and defenseless like you against them could get away. You feel Bokuto's hand grip your shoulder firmly, his hot breath against your ear as he murmurs out a familiar set of words.
"Take it slow, darling. You don't know the half of the abuse."
(All my friends are heathens, take it slow
Wait for them to ask you who you know
Please don't make any sudden moves
You don't know the half of the abuse)
It had almost been 2 months since you've gotten used to the gangs presence, and them with yours. You became like the mother of the group, and yet still the child of the group. You've gotten use to see them make deals with other men in Tokyo to earn money, weapons, seen them kill in front of your eyes whenever things get heated. Akaashi would be first to pull you away from the sight of Bokuto snapping someone's neck, or slowly torturing them to death.
You weren't completely used to see Bokuto kill people. Knowing it was for your safety, you wish you could a day without having to hear muffled screams, and pleadings from both men and women.
"Hey (Y/n), why don't you come here and sit with us." Washio calls out, flicking his cigarette on the floor, crushing it on his feet. "Eat, (Y/n), you're the only one who eats less here. It's unfair of us to be selfish." Akaashi offers you a plate filled with food. After having 2 months to stay with them, and staying silently at your place, you had gotten thin from the lack of nutrients. You ate slowly, not wanting to look improper in front of a group of men.
"Um...thank you!" You bowed all of a sudden.
They had their eyes widened, they thought you were going to scream for help like most people, but instead they heard a thank you.
"For what?"
"F-for taking me in! And, for the meal with you guys for the first time!"
Everyone looked at eachother before chuckling. Bokuto stood up from his chair, removing the black gloves on his hands before patting your head.
"Now do you trust her?"
You looked behind, listening to his words.
"Fine, fine. She's innocent, Bokuto."
"See! I told you she was innocent from the moment I saw her." hitching your breath, you admired his wide smile. It seemed so genuine despite everything that was going on.
"Don't worry no too much, (Y/n)! You're part of the gang."
He kneels down next to you, fingers down your chin and gently pulling them to meet his eyes.
"And I will protect you."
He doesn't know when, why. But he knows deep inside, he was allowing himself to fall inlove.
And it was dangerous.
(Why'd you come? You knew you should have stayed)
The building was surrounded.
They should've known they were going to spotted if they stayed long. The team was packing up all weapons and sources they could carry. You stayed hidden on the behind some of the boxes as they opened the doors to be met by almost an army of men with guns.
"Freeze!"
You hear the commander yell, all of the team hidden and scattered on many places, as Bokuto was kneeled onto the ground.
As bait.
The police force were closing in, as they were, everyone inside the building started firing guns, Bokuto running off as he throws in a flash bomb. Blinding many, easily shooting all down in ease.
(I tried to warn you just to stay away)
Things had gotten out of hand when one soldier threw in a bomb. Setting the building on fire. Akaashi held your hand, running alongside with the team to somewhere safe.
"W-wait, where's Bokuto?"
Everyone stayed silent. Akaashi just grips onto you tighter, but he underestimated you. You kicked him on the groin, his hand releasing your arm as you ran away from them before they had the chance to catch up.
You were nearing at the sounds of gun shots, you spot Bokuto hidden on a left over concrete, face smeared with blood, and smoke.
"Bokuto!"
You ran next to him, kneeling behind the concrete wall.
"(Y/n) what the fuck, I said get out of here!"
"Like hell will I leave you!"
(And now they're outside ready to bust)
He was taken back at your outburst and strong willed personality, startled by a bullet almost hitting his head, shooting the man down instantly. You looked behind the wall, instructing Bokuto where to shoot. Since your were small, you weren't easily spotted.
Shooting the last man down. Bokuto sighs. He was out of bullets. You gasped out a breath you were holding in, only to have your eyes shrink back.
There was someone behind him.
As if in slow motion, you pushed Bokuto back. Taking in his position, pulling out a gun that was secretly tucked in your pants and hoodie.
Firing quicker before the man could have a chance.
Bokuto was in awestruck. Who knew you had it in you all the time. Panting at the rush of adrenaline, Bokuto gets up from his spot and pulls you in his arms, crashing his lips almost roughly. Getting addicted to the way on how perfectly and delicious they felt on his, he bites on your lower lip harshly, dominating you with his height.
From the innocent, and scared girl you were, now looking like a hot badass in his eyes.
He had learned that you were more than capable as much as he was.
And he now knew that falling inlove with you was never dangerous, but exciting as it adds thrill in his life.
And finally, someone who actually listened to the others side, and learned to love them.
(It looks like you might be one of us)
The two of you walked hand in hand. Stopping abruptly in front of the man you had just shot. His eyes skim your body, and then your face weekly. You looked so innocent. Tainted by evil.
"W-what have you done to her?"
He weakly utters out, only to be stepped on the head by Bokuto. Who was annoyed. How dare he blame him for making you like this. You places a hand on his chest, telling him to take his feet of the fallen man.
Kneeling down in front of you, just lowered your lips next to his ear, murmuring something. You hear him let out a scream, before it was cut off by head shot deep in his skull. Bokuto licks his lips at the sight of you getting up slowly, gun on your hand as you blew off the smoke.
"Take it slow, dear. You don't know the half of the abuse."

"The One with the Messages Upon Messages"
Sit down for this. Grab some refreshments. It's gonna get real.
It was 8 AM in the morning when I checked the platform mentioned in my previous post and saw that our class chat was the only empty one. (Well, okay, it's technically a chat for both classes in our year but whatever.) So, it's empty, right? After about five minutes of persuading myself to be brave, I sent the following messages:
S: "...and this is the only empty one left. πŸ¦—πŸ¦—"
S: "We officially start [classes] tomorrow, right?"
It didn't take a minute for me to get a response that made my heart stop.
V: "Yes. πŸ™‚"
I completely freaked out, let me tell you. I was not prepared to see that name and profile picture flash up, especially not that soon.
S: "Nice. Until then, I'll learn how to use this platform somehow. πŸ˜…"
Bookworm Friend (BWF in texts): "Me too, I think. 😁"
V: "Won't be much of a secret πŸ™‚"
V: "If you'll want to use the video, you'll need a webcamera/your phone's camera and a headset/phone."
S: "I'll manage that, thank you. And I'll find an acceptable backdrop somehow. πŸ˜‚"
[A/N: When V said you, she was only talking to me. In our native tongue, the singular you, which she was using there, differs from plural you.]
I was ecstatic! 8 AM of Day 0 and we'd already had a conversation. Things simply couldn't get any better than that...
Yeah. I guess I didn't know what was gonna go down yet.
It was about 11:40 AM-ish when I got a Google Classroom notif which made me stop cleaning in my room. There she was, Miss V mode activated, with one bloody long message. Even here, we had to share a course with the other class. Fantastic. I was just about to complain into my diary when a message notification from The Platform That Shall Not Be Named flashed up, sent by someone with a Very familiar profile picture. But only upon opening it, after screaming about it profusely, did I realise that it wasn't sent into the class chat.
V sent me a DM.
V: "Would you please tell [Curly Friend] to give me a valid e-mail address, because I can't send him the classroom code.."
I was bloody losing it. She could've chosen anyone from his class (WE AIN'T EVEN CLASSMATES) or who's friends with him, but no. For whatever reason she might have had for it, V approached me. She wanted my help. And I was honestly incredibly honoured that she did.
S: Sure!
And I immediately slid on over into Curly Friend's DMs to tell him about it. Okay, it was moreso me screaming at him to message her before I die from a cardiac arrest. His response? "Ok calm yo gay ass". Lmao. Nobody's ever told me that before but it was long overdue. And as I was speaking to him, I got another message.
V: "thank you πŸ™‚"
I really need to make a "Thank you!" counter. I'm still entirely sure it's what we say to each other most often.
V: "but you can invite him here, too"
S: "To the English server? I just need to send him the code for that, right? πŸ˜…"
V: "yes, i think he'll know what to do"
S: "He definitely will. I'll send it right away."
And then, all was silent for until about an hour, when the folks from the other class started getting active in the chat. And with them, so did V, chatting as eagerly as I've never heard or seen her before. Of course. Classic introvert. Put her behind a screen and she'll thrive. When some guys tried to convince her to give us unlimited time for the upcoming test, she even sent a selfie (A FUCKING SELFIE) where she's with her cat, saying "The kitty tells me not to listen to you." YOU DON'T GET IT THAT IS THE CUTEST SHIT EVER.
Then things went apeshit. From my idiot of a cousin using informal pronouns with V to invite her to a video call (she was chill about it though, just told him not to do it with a smiley) and people cursing casually in the general chatroom meant for everyone in the server, to the other class boys adding some guys who haven't gone to my school for about 3 years now and have nothing to do with V. Things started turning into an animal farm instead of a server and me and my friends were outrageously bored. It took them some convincing, but the result was this DM:
S: "Miss, I know, saving space and we're covering the same thing and stuff, but... can't we separate the two classes instead? Just here, on [The Platform That Shall Not Be Named]. Some of us are starting to go mad."
My friends' circle kept on fuming and I waited. The response arrived in some 10 minutes.
V: "Well, we could."
S: "If it's no trouble for you, Miss, we'd be thankful πŸ˜…"
And thus, the woman of so many of my dreams stepped into action, changing from dorky, fun, lower-case-and-emojis V to serious, determined, pristine grammar Miss V seemingly in the blink of an eye. She created two separate chats. Of course, it was not an easy or a fast process, inspiring messages like "put me back into [my class] bitch", that made my blood boil. She threw one of the additional boys out and demanded the other's name. "Those, who won't disclose their real names will be kicked out. Sorry." After he made up some silly ass fake name, V just wrote: "I don't have a student like that, ban." And as we all reacted to it with hysterical laughter in the form of emojis, V just writes: "That's that." AN. ICON. Go home, everybody. V wins.
The next minute, in our fresh, new class chat for only my class this time, the following message arrives:
V: "Dear [Class], I separated the two bunches, because they couldn't behave."
The six thank you–messages that followed (one of them mine) is pretty telling. And V was pretty fucking mad. Before I texted her about it, she was completely silent, but now, she was agitated. Her later message to a girl looking for the class chats writes: "Everyone can only see their own [class], because SOME PEOPLE started trolling the others."
That evening I had homeroom over The Platform That Shall Not Be Named, as my homeroom teacher finally learned how to use it since yesterday's Messenger call, when she mentioned asking V, who was sitting next to her during the faculty meetings all day, to teach her. I would've paid good money to see that, to be honest.
See, guys? This is why I'm so in love with who V is. She's a lovable little dork, yeah, but she's so much more. Always right there when you need her, whatever for, and takes it incredibly seriously until the very second the deed is done. I couldn't be more thankful for having her in my life.
