I know it shouldn't surprise me, but it's frustrating af to step outside the fandom and read about OFMD's cancellation on more general entertainment sites and see the majority of reactions be along the lines of "oh well it was probably Taika being over it, he always gave me the ick anyway so, whatever," and then often devolving into comments about his personal life, or conspiracy theories that can be disproven if you use your brains for 30 seconds or maybe step outside and touch grass idk idk.
And this isn't me saying "omg how could you dislike Taika" bc truly unless you're being racist or antisemitic (which, let's be real, many are), I don't give a fuck what you think about him.
But the point remains that if you have a show that is all about celebrating queer joy and finding yourself later in life, that has a diverse cast of characters in terms of race, ethnicity, sexuality, and body type, that was WRITTEN by a diverse group of writers, that is receiving praise from critics and fans alike, that from all reports was one of Max's most successful shows despite them doing next to no promotion the first season, that had two successful seasons and the creator is on the record saying he had a plan to tell the entire story in three, and it gets CANCELED.
I don't give a fuck how you feel about Taika, or how you feel about OFMD. You SHOULD be concerned about that. Because your show is next.
And before you come at me with "it's just a show, have you seen what's happening in the world?" Yeah. I fucking have. And the arts matter. They have always mattered. It's how we've shared stories and fostered communities and passed down what's important to us as a society. And they've brought us joy. And I don't know about you, but I think we could all do with a fuckton more joy in our lives.
This is absolutely a huge loss, and unfortunately it's not going to be the last as streaming services continue to go deeper in crisis. If that doesn't concern you, idk, go enjoy yourself watching season 47 of The Bachelor.

while playing the masquerade event i was hit with the realization that the students from nrc are quite literally the terrible tourists rollo was talking about. and im almost CERTAIN they've been just as bad every other event. like you have ruggie who was about to steal a shops hard earned money, you have epel and deuce that were saying their bread wasn't special before even trying it, you have ruggie AGAIN saying that the historic toys they make are just chunks of wood and don't have any value. these people suck and should not be permitted to travel. all they're doing is making a nuisance of themselves.

I wanted to make a post on here since I had someone in my dms asking for my thoughts on as they put it, the Wilbur soot 'allegations'
So, to start off with, It's not allegations, he did abuse shubble, and I think it is such a terrible thing for a human to do,
It's really important to stand with victims and not give the abusers a voice,
I think we should support Shelby and Wilbur soot is a terrible human being who made a community on lies on what he presented himself as online.
And their response was in support of him so I'm putting out these pieces of undeniable evidence and please everyone go watch Shelby's vod, support her and support other members of the community, I know this is upsetting to us as well,
He lied to everyone and Shelby is the one who deserves all the support but you're allowed to need personal support from those around you,
Wilbur soot was a man I looked up and adored,
Please watch shubbles vod,
There is quite a lot of undeniable evidence of witnesses stating they saw and some were also a victim of his actions
I stand with Shelby, she is articulate and brave and using the experience to give others advice about the signs
I understand really well it's hard to say he's a terrible person, he's been a very important and happy thing for me for the past year, but I don't believe there is any reason to support him after this.
He wasn't a good enough human to deserve the wonderful community he inspired.
Here is some of the evidence I have (Tumblr image limit), if you want to know more, feel free to message me, and please go and do some research and remember,
It's not about giving voice to abusers,
It's about standing with victims.
Even if the abuser was your hero.
Stand with Shelby. 💛
And all the other people he hurt, the ones I know of being Niki and rue, there may be others, please feel free to reblog and add more information, I want this to be informative to anyone who stumbles across looking for truth and evidence and would like to compile as much as possible.
Okay that's all, goodbye, I'll write a separate post on how I'll go about my art and writing with him.

ok so I keep seeing people saying they hope coach ben doesn't die because they don't want a gay character killed off and eaten, which I totally get, but I also feel like it's a little bit of the whole "any killing of a gay character is burying your gays" which disregards things like genre and what story they're actually in.
coach ben, like jackie, has been doomed from the start. we knew from episode one that he wasn't making it out of the woods, even before we knew he was gay. he is there in service of the girls' stories, and him happening to be gay, to me, is just about him being a well-rounded character. who, like jackie and the pit girl, needs to die

procastinating at work but here's my philosophy for today: it's okay to hate a behavior in someone else but also understand that this behavior does not make them a bad person. like i HATE when i'm venting or talking about a serious problem i have and then the person i'm talking to starts trying to relate by talking about a similar experience they've had. like absolutely hate it. make me feel like the focus is being taken off me and it genuinely is in some ways, regardless of your intent. yeah, i understand that's your way of trying to comfort me -- but that's not the way i need or want to be comforted, and that's what matters in a situation where i'm coming to you to be helped.
and that's okay! like. no one is in the wrong here unless i have explicitly asked you to support me in a different way and you're intentionally refusing, or if i lash out at you when i could just disengage. it just means you're not a person i should go to for help when talking about my problems. we can still be friends, you and i can probably support each other in different ways, but we're just incompatible in this regard. and that's like....okay. it's okay to be incompatible with people.
