Sunshine Court broke something in my brain, so here's some protective Jean because my boy is not gonna tolerate whatever is going on with Jeremy's family.

--
Jeremy's hands shake as he's getting ready for dinner with his family.
Jean doesn't mean to notice, perched as he is on the bed, watching the other man straightening his shirt in front of the dresser. Jeremy's very good at hiding it, with his easy smiles and easier deflections. By now, he knows it's an open secret that Jeremy avoids his family as best he can, and that Cat and Laila allow him his choice.
But Jean has spent his whole life reading into the slant of someone's posture to survive, and he knows the tremor in Jeremy's hands as if it was his own.
“You're afraid,” he says, the words arriving unbidden. But it's such a shock to see him like this– the man who stood in front of Jean at the darkest points of his life and refused to look away, cowed by the people who were supposed to love him.
This was Jean's friend, his partner, and he was feeling unsafe.
Jeremy jumps at the sound, either lost in his own thoughts or used to the quietness of Jean for the last few minutes. “What?”
Jean weighs what he wants to say. He knows he's had his fair share of truths he's asked to keep to himself, and that Jeremy has never pushed when it mattered. But he also thinks about “for now”, and how hard truths can only be avoided for so long. “Is it your parents?”
Jeremy's eyes widen, a nervous fidget in the set of his hands. If he wants to lie, Jean's already decided to allow it. But Jeremy finally says a quiet, “Yes and no.”
Jean nods. “Do they- are you safe?” He doesn't think he's seen bruises, and he remembers the horror in Jeremy's voice as he told Jean that his parents should have protected him. But maybe he was projecting?
Jeremy's shoulders deflate. “Jean, no. It's nothing like that. I promise, they've never laid a hand on me.” He smiles, a crooked thing that has Jean following the curve of his lips.
Still, Jean knows the way he's curled into himself, the way he's glancing at his phone as though it's about to jump at him. “But it's something.”
“It's just dinner. I can handle it. I know how to play the game and get out of there.” It's a perfectly neutral answer, but it's also more than he's said in months about what waits for him when he disappears to his family's home. Despite his living there most of the year, Jean refuses to call it Jeremy's home. His home is here, cleaning up with Laila and arguing with Cat, and where Jean can see him when his nightmares rattle him awake to count the rise and fall of Jeremy's breath from the next bed over.
“Do you want company?” It's a strange request, and Jean knows it as he says it. Jean still hates being around people, and speaking to a bunch of strangers even Jeremy is nervous around makes his stomach swim. But this is his partner, and if he needs him, he can be there for him. It is only fair.
Jeremy's face becomes unbearably gentle and Jean isn't ready to read into the fondness he sees there. “I will be okay. Like I said, I know how to do this.”
One part of Jean knows he should leave it at that. But the other part has cataloged the heaviness in Jeremy's countenance when he returns home– the rehearsed smile, the way he goes to bed early. The part that wins says, “I will walk home with you. When dinner is over.”
“You don't have to do that-”
“I want to,” he says, and he finds that he means it. The idea of Jeremy walking home by himself after spending an hour alone in a room of people is too much to bear. “Text me the address and I will be there.” He wanted to visit the grocery store anyway– he could do that while he waited. Cat would be happy to see the spice cabinet restocked.
“Alright,” Jeremy says, swallowing whatever protest sat on his lips. “Yeah, I'll- I'll text you.”
Jean nods, letting the matter drop while Jeremy finishes getting ready in amicable silence. When he leaves, it's with a nod that Jean recognizes, of someone who is resigning themselves to the inevitable.
He doesn't know how to keep him from hurting, but he is at least well versed in the aftermath.
Jean arrives at the intended address at the appointed time, not wanting to be there too early and seem suspicious. Jeremy is not forthcoming about his familial circumstances, but he knows there is money involved, and in Jean's experience, outsiders were not tolerated.
True to his word, Jeremy emerges after only a minute or two and his face lights up in a way that makes Jean's stomach twist when he spots him. He hurries toward Jean, and immediately begins walking once they reach each other.
It's easy to keep pace with him, but as Jeremy is about to breach the silence, a voice behind them brings him up short.
“I thought you knew better than to bring people like that to the house?”
Jean bristles at the implication, but he's more concerned with the way Jeremy stills at his side. When Jeremy doesn't reply, Jean tries to ignore it as well and continue forward, but the voice continues.
“Flaunting it in front of us like you don't even care what you did to the family? You deserve whatever happens, you-”
“You will not speak to him that way.”
Jeremy draws back in surprise, but Jean keeps his expression cool as he turns to face Jeremy's brother.
“What did you say to me?”
Jean glances at Jeremy, sure he's crossing a line but unable to stop himself. “I said, you will not speak to him like that.”
A snort. “He's my brother. I can say whatever I like. Besides, how exactly are you going to stop me?”
“Jean,” Jeremy's voice is small beside him and Jean does not rise to the bait.
He fixes the unfamiliar man with a cool glance. “Nothing. I know a great deal of small men exactly like you, and they always seem to get what they deserve in the end. I do not need to do anything to stop you. But no one has to listen to you either.”
With one last flat look, he walks, Jeremy matching his purposeful strides. As the silence grew longer between them, Jean wonders if he read this wrong, if Jeremy had not wanted him to say anything. Had he crossed a line? Had he made Jeremy feel unsafe?
“Thank you.”
Jean turns to look at him in surprise. “I did not mean to force you to face them before you were ready-”
“I'm not ready,” Jeremy admits. “And yeah, things will probably be pretty tense next time.” He rubs the back of his neck. “But- it means something to me that you were there. I– it made it easier, knowing you were there.”
Jean nods slowly, not trusting himself to be able to say anything. He had said it not because of anything owed between them, but because he could not bear to see Jeremy's light dimmed by those who were supposed to cherish him.
At last, he finds his voice to say, “I will not let you leave me behind.”
The smile Jeremy sends is a little tired, but it's also slow and soft and the first real one he's seen all night, so Jean counts it as a win.
Rainbows. Open roads. Friends. Jeremy's smile.

SUMMARY: Ellie finds out your deepest darkest college secret. Now she has to sort you out.
WC: 1.4K
SMUT BELOW !
You hadn't been to a party since your freshmen year. When you first started dating Ellie. You and her were a popular couple for a few months. You'd think you'd be broken up by now, given the circumstances of college. But here you are. Getting ready for a party, with Ellie.
She had convinced you, of course. You'd be locked up in your studies for hours and hours since freshmen year. Yet she never knew why. Her begging and pleading having you where you are now.
Walking into a stereotypical frat party, smelling of booze and strong perfume. The music overwhelms your ears.
"C'mon, babe. Enjoy yourself. "
Ellie whispers into your ear, holding her hand on your waist. Kissing under your ear before jotting off to meet with her friends.
Fuck this, you think. You wanna go home. You don't even touch a cup. Or a blunt.
Minutes later, hours it felt like. They call for seven minutes in heaven. You don't do games anymore. Especially that game. You hate that fucking game.
You hear the party host.. some random white guy with the stereotypical ice cream-shaped hair. He's screaming,
" Everybody in here! If you aren't here, you're a pussy! "
Then you're the only one on the couch. You don't know where Ellie is, hell, do you even know where you are? You feel like everyone is watching you.
Because they are.
" Are you coming or what? "
Some random brunette blurts out.
" No, I'm good! "
You decline, shaking your head.
Partygoers collectively groan.
" What happened to all of that bull you were spitting out at the last party? You a lame? "
The brown-haired girl spits out.
" I'm sober now. I'm not like that. "
You mutter.
" Like what? A cheater? "
The room was silent.
Ellie was silent.
But her eyes spoke volumes.
" Just get in the closet, it's only 7 minutes. Your 'girllfriendd' can even go in with you! "
The girl continues. A crowd yells around you. All you can hear is " Do it! Do it! "
Ellie was already storming into the bedroom. You just needed to toughen up and go in, scared for your outcome.
" Fine. "
You stutter.
You followed Ellie and entered the bedroom with sweaty palms. The door shut behind you and the timer had begun. You and Ellie, alone together in a bedroom. You could feel the tense silence between you, it was tangible.
You both stayed on different sides. Ellie’s green eyes pierced into your flesh, and you felt them even as your head was lowered. You were trying to not look at her, you knew she was angry. All your drunk antic making you feel regretful. You ache.
Ellie scoffed, rolling her eyes.
“ If you think anything is happening after what I just heard, you’re wrong. “
She grunts.
" Ellie.. you.. I.. it was a long time ago... I was.. - "
You hick, guilt striking you like a bullet to your chest.
" It doesn't fucking matter. "
She snapped back, and you shudder.
" Just stay on your side, don't bother me. "
" Okay, Ellie. "
You both stay silent until the door opens again.
" Times up !! "
You rush out. Immediately running out of the party, trying not to stumble over your heels. Tears forming. But you wouldn't cry over this, you brought this onto yourself.
You wait for what feels like hours in the cold with no warmth until your girlfriend comes.
" Ellie can we- "
She cuts you off.
" Get in the car. "
You follow.
The car ride was horrible. The silence was eating you up inside. You could feel her eyes look at you with anger from time to time. The traffic lights highlighted your tears she didn't care about one bit.
When you get back to your apartment, you quickly put your things away to try and have a personal conversation with Ellie, but you're stopped when a hand is put against your neck and you're banged into the wall.
" I didn't fuck you good enough? My cock wasn't good enough that you just had to go cheat, huh? Answer me. "
She grunts, one hand on the back of your neck, the other palming at your clothed cunt. It makes you gargle your words.
" You can't speak anymore? Did she have you like this? "
She rubs her thumb in a line in the middle of your neck. You whine.
" No..no... Ellie please.. "
" Please what? Do you still think I'm gonna have sex with you? Oh no no no. "
She laughs. Taking her hand off your intimacy and throwing you down onto the couch.
" And I was gonna take care of you so good tonight. "
She tsks.
" Now I just have to fuck you up. "
You shiver.
“ Strip. “
You do. Your clothes are off in a matter of seconds.
Your arousal was almost everywhere, sticking to the inside of your thighs. You could feel it, and you were embarrassed.
“ Fucking slut. Turn around. “
You listen and turn around to kneel on the couch cushions, your hands gripping onto the back of the couch.
You can hear her pants unzip and her harness buckle, you can also hear her walk up to you.
She slips a finger through your folds, making you whine quietly.
" You're fucking soaked, all that ‘cause I’m mean to you? You're a slut.”
Without warning, she slips into you. You moan.
She's extremely rough, her nails digging into your hips. You know you'll have scars tomorrow, but do you really have time to think about that now?
The loud sound her strap makes when she pushes it back into you is downright pornographic. You'd be embarrassed for yourself and your neighbors if you weren't already so cockdrunk. You let out a loud whine when she’s putting an arm around your neck yanking you up, your back forcibly pressed plush against her soft breasts. It's so rough that it has you dizzy, and your hands are reaching behind to try and push her away. But she won't let you.
" Think it's fun to fuck another bitch now? Huh? "
Ellie moans out, thrusting particularly hard at the word " fuck "
You shake your head, and she pushes her arm further to your neck.
" Speak to me. " She snarls.
" No.. no I don't!! " You choke and moan.
You and Ellie's grunts are obscene. The familiar coil in your stomach slowly comes, and Ellie can tell.
" You think you deserve to cum? You don't. "
She says, pulling out and leaving you whining for her to let you. " You just HAD to go and whore around ."
" Ellie, please I'm sorry .. "
You beg.
" Of course you're sorry now. "
She says, unbuckling her harness.
" C'mere. "
" What? "
You sniffle.
" You don't deserve it, but I do. "
You scatter off the couch onto the floor and kneel in front of your clearly upset girlfriend. You look up at her, and she isn't even looking at you.
" Go ahead. "
She mutters.
And you gladly do. Your hand goes to her thigh as you use your thumb to spread her cunt. Flatting your tongue and licking a strip from her hole to her clit before sucking at the enlarged bundle of nerves. Her head tilts up as her hands come to your head. She moans as she shoved you more into her. The pressure of your tongue laps against her sensitive bud, you try to pull away to breathe but her hold is unforgiving, inescapable. But you like it. You let her fuck herself on your face. Grinding her clit against your nose, moaning and groaning.
" Agh.. I'm gonna .. - Fuck.. I'm... - "
Ellie's voice shatters as she weakens, her body nearly giving out as she releases onto you, her slick dripping from your chin. You let her chase her release before letting go of your head. You lap at her release, practically licking her clean.
" This is all you're fucking good for. "
She pants.
" Sleep on the couch or something. "
As she says this, she walks into your shared room and locks the door.
You lay on the floor, your head rested on the couch.
Moments later you can hear her unlock the door, her footsteps getting louder and louder.
"C'mon, Let me clean you up and help you. I'd feel bad leaving you here dirty. "
She sighs, lifting you into her arms.
" I'm sorry Ellie .. "
You sob.
" I know sweetheart. "

Always Ever Only You Part 22 | Rooster x Reader
Summary: Bradley was never one to shy away from a dangerous mission, and this one had a lot at stake for a lot of reasons. As you tried to pass the time without him at home, it was frustrating having no idea when he might return. Then a phone call when you're out shopping almost brings you to tears.
Warnings: Swearing, mission related angst, smut, fluff, mentions of hostages
Length: 5100 words
Pairing: Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw x Female Reader
This was written to accompany my series Is It Working For You? along with a bunch of my one-shots and other series, but it can be read on its own! Check my masterlist for the reading order. Always Ever Only You masterlist. Gorgeous banner by @mak-32
Tumblr media
Bradley sat in his unmarked F/A-18, ready to launch from catapult two, and the only lights he could see came from the deck of the USS Nimitz and the radar screen reflecting onto his canopy. As soon as he was launched and his teammates were in the air as well, the aircraft cruiser deck would go black. His radar screen would be dimmed. The moon and stars overhead would become more prominent. He would be flying in the darkest conditions of his career.
This seat felt foreign to him. The whole jet did. He really missed his own aircraft which was sitting on the tarmac in San Diego. You were in San Diego. He couldn't believe he just talked to you over facetime a handful of hours ago. It felt like he hadn't seen you or heard your voice in a year. Every minute felt like a hundred. Every breath he took felt like it made his harness straps just a little bit tighter.
The headset in his helmet crackled to life. "Rooster, prepare to launch in one minute."
"Standing by," he replied, running his thumb over his silicone ring one more time before pulling on his gloves. He waited and waited, ready for action. His adrenaline was waiting just under the surface. When he launched off the deck followed by Havoc, Dugout and Richmond, he gained a little altitude and led them in a slow loop around the carrier, watching for the lights on deck to go out.
Then they did, and it was just darkness all around. It was more disorienting than he anticipated, and his breath caught in his throat as he thought of you in the dark bedroom at home, alone. He needed to get back there.
Bluebird and Wilbur were already miles ahead, working with the slower comanche which was trying to get crystal clear real time imaging for the Seal team. "Approaching the coastline," Bluebird said, and Bradley heard her through his headset. "Comanche in position. Fly, Rooster."
And that was the code not only for Bradley's team to move toward the airstrip at maximum speed, but also the signal that the only conversation allowed now would be through a specific code. "Juniper whiskey," he spoke, realizing he would sound like an idiot to anyone who wasn't involved with Operation Loophole. But in his side mirrors, he could see the barest outlines of the other jets following him at his current speed of 600 knots.
When he gave the verbal command to steadily drop altitude, the lights of the cities and towns below grew brighter as they approached the coastline. "Idaho whiskey."
It felt strange to drop altitude so quickly once they neared the airstrip. Bradley's initial reaction was to ready missiles for deployment, but there would be no weapons used today. He wasn't even equipped with a single missile let alone the six he normally was. They were not to fire upon anyone; they were to avoid being hit at all costs. The only thing they had on their side was the surprise attack and the plan that they cobbled together.
"Lima Lima," Bradley said once he could see the airstrip, and he and Dugout dipped so low, Bradley could tell what color uniforms the officers walking around the well lit tarmac were wearing. So low in fact, he could hear the alarms blaring before he and Dugout hit six G's for a fast altitude gain. Bradley could see Havoc and Richmond outlined by the moon as he climbed. Without a single WSO on the mission, there was nobody to inform him whether or not the enemy jets were taking to the sky. He had to wait until Havor or Richmond saw something of use. And then he finally heard it.
"Hot sauce."
Bradley smiled at the word he'd chosen to signal that the plan was still on track. Richmond must have eyes on the enemy below, and when Bradley flew a loop, he was surprised to see the moon reflecting off of an enemy fighter a lot closer to him than anticipated. He throttled back up to 600 knots after saying the command word; and now it was time for the rodeo to begin.
He felt calm in spite of his adrenaline, and Bluebird was the only voice he heard now as he headed for the darkness of the open water with his team. "Bell Bottoms," Bluebird said clearly, and that meant the SEAL team was given the go ahead to breach the building where the hostages were housed.
Then Bradley saw the streaks of orange directly behind him, and it was a miracle he hadn't been hit by any of the barrage of bullets being fired at him as he saw nothing but the darkness of open water below. "Fuck," he muttered under his breath. He checked his radar and throttled up fast. "Whiskey gold," he called out, inverting to try to see who had shot at him.
He saw a flash of moonlight on a silver wing and knew that's who it must have been. His fingers flexed on the throttle, and he wanted nothing more than to dive back down and ruin their day. But he couldn't. So he kept to the plan. He could see his teammates in tight formation on his radar, but then he saw more orange streaks in the night. "Shit."
Bradley checked his fuel capacity and nudged the throttle up to 650 knots, letting his teammates know to do the same. They needed to loop back around south toward the USS Nimitz, but they needed to time it just right so the enemy aircrafts were running too low on fuel to go after the Navy SEAL team and the hostages. If the SEALs were even able to get them out.
Bradley was starting to sweat. He hadn't heard an update from Bluebird in nearly three minutes. That was way too long for the hostage recovery to have been successful. Now he was all too aware of his breathing and the sound of his heart in his ears. One of the hostages was a seventeen year old kid. Another one was pregnant.
He felt sick to his stomach as he waited, but he knew he only had another few seconds before he had to draw everyone further south. He counted to ten in his head, ready with the command word on his tongue as he checked his fuel gauge. And then he heard Bluebird say, "Bottoms up."
The SEALS were out with the five hostages in the heavily armed transport van. Bradley commanded his group to move south, and sure enough, one by one, the enemy aircrafts headed back toward land. Whether they were going to attempt to go after the hostages or not, Bradley wasn't concerned. They had to be nearly out of fuel just like his team was. The only benefit he had was the fact that the aircraft carrier was nearby, waiting in the quiet darkness below.
So let them try to go after the SEALs. It didn't matter. They had too much of a head start. As Bradley neared the exact coordinates where the carrier should be, he turned his regular longer distance radio on again and said, "Omega one."
The answer came in the form of the carrier deck being lit up in red lights, signalling that it was safe for them to land one by one. And when a second set of white lights came to life in the tower, Bradley pumped his fist in the air. That meant Bluebird and Wilbur were successfully on their way back with the comanche.
Bradley was the first one to touch down on deck, and he scrambled out of his jet in time to see Havoc's tailhook catch. Then the other two landed. The four of them ended up lining up alongside Warlock and Jackal who remained completely quiet until fifteen minutes later when the comanche touched down followed by the last two unmarked F/A-18s.
When Warlock started walking, Bradley followed him down the spiral of stairs and into the well lit classroom. Bradley realized he was soaked with sweat as he sat down in the back row alone and watched everyone else file in. He counted the beats of his heart, and as Cyclone walked inside, he closed the door but kept his hand on the knob.
"Operation Loophole was highly successful. The five hostages are in a secure location along with SEAL Team 7. Please keep in mind that the sensitive details of this mission are considered top secret. Now, go get some rest. Eat a good meal when you wake up. We'll meet back here at 1200 hours to debrief and discuss plans to get you back home."
Then Cyclone turned the knob, and he was gone. Bradley took his time walking back to his bunk, and he showered before collapsing into his bed. Selfishly, he let his mission overwrite some of the damage Slayer and Dean had done to his ego. The adrenaline hadn't quite worn off, and he doubted it would until he saw you again, but the sense of relief he felt let him drift off into a comfortable sleep.
---------------------------
You were at Costco trying to decide how much chicken to buy when you got the phone call. If Bradley was going to come home this weekend, you'd make a double batch of Marry Me Rooster. If he wouldn't be home this weekend, and would subsequently miss spending his birthday with you, then you would only need to make a smaller batch.
When your phone rang in your pocket, you assumed it was your mom and dad finalizing plans to fly to San Diego. If Bradley wasn't back for their visit, then you could cancel their hotel room and have them stay with you. But your phone screen said RESTRICTED CALLER, and you almost dropped the pack of chicken on the floor.
Your heart was pounding in your ears, and the metallic taste of fear filled your mouth. Someone was calling you about Bradley. It had been a few days since you talked to him in the shower, and now someone else was calling you.
"Hello?" Your voice was hoarse and soft, but you didn't even want to clear your throat and cut off the person on the other end of the call. You had to grip the cart handle as a cheerful voice greeted you.
"I'm calling in regards to your husband, Lieutenant Commander Bradley Bradshaw. Could you please confirm your full name and date of birth?"
You rattled off the information for her and went silent again as she took her time with whatever information she had for you. She didn't sound like she had bad news, but you just weren't sure. It hurt to take a deep breath, and your eyes were starting to burn when she finally said, "Okay.... it looks like he'll be flying back into San Diego International on Saturday night. That's June 27th at 10:45 pm."
"Oh my god," you gasped, leaning against the refrigerator case and forcing air in and out of your lungs.
"Can you pick him up?"
"Yes," you replied. "Of course. I'll be there."
"Have a great day!"
Bradley was coming home on his birthday. You started laughing as happy tears filled your eyes. You decided to get the big pack of chicken. Then you walked around the store and thought about the time you'd called him Daddy while you shopped together last year. Your heart twinged at the thought; you knew he actually wanted to be a daddy, and you wanted that for him, too. But you and he had really enjoyed yourselves that day.
You ended up buying way more than you probably needed, including everything to make him a lemon cake to go with his birthday dinner. When you brought him home around midnight on Saturday, the two of you could stay up and eat together if he wasn't too tired. Then on Sunday, you'd keep him in bed all day, alternating between snuggling with him and having birthday sex.
The countdown was on. Just a few days to go. Giddy and excited, you drove home to get the house cleaned up a bit. You gave Tramp a bath and then cleaned the bathroom. You vacuumed everything and got caught up on your laundry so Bradley's dirty clothes could go right into the machines. You had to force yourself to go to sleep around midnight even though you felt like you could run a marathon.
At lunch on Thursday, you finally ran into Bob. You had called him on Sunday, asking if he was still looking for a new place to rent. When he told you he was, you mentioned your old apartment and Maria. "Oh. Thank you. Let me think about it," was all he told you.
Now he was just ahead of you in line in the cafeteria, and you cornered him by the condiments. "Hey, did you give any more thought to moving in with Maria?"
Bob looked up at you as he continued to pump the ketchup, flooding his tray of French fries with it. "Yeah," he said, sounding very unsure about himself. "I thought about it. But I don't think it's a very good idea."
Your brow scrunched in confusion. The apartment was great, and Maria was one of your best friends. "Well, why not? Maria is amazing."
Bob's cheeks were pink as he set the saturated fries down on his lunch tray and avoided your eyes. "Yeah, she's great. I think it would actually be me who was the problem," he muttered.
You shook your head. "But Bob, you're great, too."
He smiled softly at you before he picked up his tray and looked around the room. "I think I would end up making it awkward. You've seen me around attractive women. You know how I am."
"Oh," you said as you looked at him. "But you're not awkward at all, Bob. Maybe you're a little quiet around women, but definitely not awkward."
You saw Maria across the cafeteria, and she waved to you. Bob immediately ducked in the other direction toward Phoenix, and you let him go. When you sat down across from Maria, she immediately asked, "Why didn't you bring Bob with you? I was going to mention my place. And besides, he always smells so good."
"I don't think it's going to work out," you said carefully. "Are you interested in him?"
She scoffed. "No. He's not my type. He's quiet and kind of shy and has those rosy cheeks. Nah. Not my thing."
"I didn't think so." But as you watched her watching him, you really weren't so sure.
On Friday, you stopped out in the tower in the afternoon when you had some free time in your schedule, and as soon as you poked your head into the rec room, everyone was calling your name.
Nat jumped up from the couch when you walked inside. "What are you doing out here?"
You gave Fanboy a high five and accepted a hug from Payback. "Just saying hi. Is Bob around?"
Just then, he walked in with his flight suit sleeves tied around his waist. He was all sweaty, his hair was attractively mussed, and he was drinking from a reusable water bottle while his Adam's apple bobbed.
"Speak of the fucking devil," Nat said collapsing back onto the couch.
Bob was already blushing as you walked over to him and quietly said, "Hey, I'm not trying to pressure you at all. But I can assure you that Maria doesn't think you're awkward in the least bit."
His eyes darted around the room where Fanboy and Payback were in the middle of an argument, and you knew he didn't want them to overhear. "She doesn't?"
"Not at all. She thinks you're kind and courteous and that you smell good."
"She does?" he asked in disbelief.
"Yes. I promise. She's also almost never home, so if you moved in, you'd probably hardly ever see her. She does taekwondo and kickboxing and she volunteers all the time." His eyes lit up, probably at the prospect of having the place to himself most evenings. "And I don't think you're really her type, so any awkwardness at the beginning would probably vanish right away."
He was nodding at you with a very serious expression although now he looked a little sad. "Okay. I'll talk to her."
"Great," you said, giving him a quick hug before you turned to leave.
"Wait," Nat called out as she ate a twinkie and tried to kick Coyote off the couch where he was napping. "Bradley's coming back tomorrow? Hard Deck night?"
You were hoping for something a little more private with him, but you just smiled and said, "His flight doesn't even land until almost 11 o'clock. Next week? Wednesday night maybe?"
She nodded and gave you a thumbs up. When you left the rec room, you walked right past Jake and Cat making out next to the stairs. They turned to look at you but made no move to separate.
"Wait, I think I hear Hondo coming," you said loudly as you started to run away with a grin on your face. Jake just flipped you off, and that was fine with you. The only thing you really cared about was getting home and preparing for Bradley.
After you took Tramp for a long walk, you started on Bradley's lemon cake. You made a second confetti cake as a decoy, just to make him laugh. You could always drop it off for your elderly neighbors on Sunday after you clocked the thinly veiled annoyance on your husband's face. Then you got to work on a massive batch of Marry Me Rooster. He always came home hungry after being away, usually complaining about the food that was served on the carriers.
You paused while you were working and took a minute to just be thankful that Bradley was coming home to you after only two weeks away. You were in a much better headspace after this short time apart, and you were very thankful for that as well. Tomorrow was Bradley's birthday. Your period was over. You were picking up the calendar in the morning, and you were picking Bradley up tomorrow night.
"Get ready, Tramp. Daddy's almost home."
------------------------------
Bradley was so antsy on his thirteen hour flight from Seoul to San Diego, he could barely sit still. Even the business class seat did little to help him get comfortable. He felt too aware of every part of his entire body. His arms felt too big. His legs felt too long. His fingers were practically twitching with the anticipation of seeing you and touching you. He should have jerked off on the carrier when he had the chance.
Now he was counting down the hours while he wrote a little bit in his notebook, but even then, the pages read like a dirty movie starring you and him. He had actually written the sentence I like to take my wife hard when I return home from deployments.
"What the fuck," he whispered to himself, trying not to disturb the person who was sleeping next to him as he closed his notebook and tossed it into his backpack. When he tried to stretch his legs out, all he could think about was how it felt to be in his king sized bed with you where there was plenty of room. Plenty of room, sure, but you always ended up on top of him. You were always touching him, running your fingers along his tattoo and up into his hair.
Bradley jolted upright in his seat, practically panting as he took his phone out to check the time. Two more hours. Two more fucking hours. He wouldn't make it. Maybe he should jerk it in the lavatory? But no, he already knew his hand wouldn't satisfy him now. He needed your body. There was something about the successful completion of Operation Loophole that made his adrenaline run hot and stay that way. It was like he could feel his blood pumping through his veins and needed to do something about it.
When Cyclone and Warlock pulled him aside and called him 'a hell of a good pilot', it was like he could hear your voice right next to his ear. Praising him. He went back to his bunk to pack for home, but all he could think about was you with your hands all over him. Just you, whispering something soft and innocent that slowly turned into something filthy.
By the time the commercial jet started its descent into San Diego, Bradley had both fists clenched on the arm rests. He was back to practicing the steady breathing techniques Bob taught him, but his cock was a little hard in his jeans regardless. He was ready to go. When he turned off airplane mode and checked his text messages, yours was right at the top.
Baby Girl Bradshaw: Happy birthday! I can't wait to see you! I'll be in baggage claim, ready to take you home!
Bradley grunted as he slowly deboarded the plane, and once he was free of the crowd of people around the gate, he started walking with longer strides. Home. When he got you back to the craftsman, he was going to fuck you until you couldn't talk. Until you couldn't move. He could practically taste your skin already. He could hear the way you were going to whine for him.
As he approached the baggage claim area, he squeezed the rubber handrail of the escalator like he wanted to kill it. There you were, looking up at the arrivals board with your back to him, wearing one of your little dresses. He could pick you out of a crowd of hundreds. Maybe thousands. He could find your pretty face or the perfect swell of your ass anywhere. He knew the way you shifted from one foot to the other by heart. He knew exactly what it looked like when you anxiously checked your outfit, running your palms down over your hips.
When Bradley released the handrail, there was nothing that could keep him from you. One, two, three, four, five steps in your direction, and he was calling out your name. His voice sounded tense and a little bit stern, and when you spun to face him, your pretty little dress swirled around your thighs. He'd have that thing up around your waist so fast, you wouldn't know what to do with yourself.
"Roo," you gasped as you rushed toward him. But you must have known. You always knew. Your lips were parted, and your eyes were wide. There was no doubt in his mind that you knew what he needed as he reached for your body. "Roo," you moaned softly as his lips met yours while he backed you up against a pillar.
He didn't say a word. He just tasted the inside of your mouth with his tongue as your arms went around his neck. Bradley's hands were on your ass, and through the flimsy material of your dress, he was certain you weren't wearing any underwear. He grunted into your mouth as he used his teeth, and you were already whining softly.
When he brought one hand up to your neck, he was less than gentle. The softness of your body against his had him growing harder and harder, and there was no doubt in his mind that you could feel him against your belly. You raked your fingers through his hair as he released your lips, and you whispered, "Happy birthday."
He brought his lips to your neck and dragged them up to your ear where he grunted, "I need to fuck you."
When you sighed and pressed your body tighter to his, Bradley could feel your nipples through your dress. His brain was screaming at him to unzip his pants and bend you over right here. Take what he needed. Your hand cupping his length as you smirked at him wasn't helping at all, and then you said, "I think that can be arranged, Daddy."
Fuck. As soon as the baggage carousel started up behind him, he snatched his duffle off of the belt, his other hand still firmly on your ass. You already looked a little dazed as you led him out to the quiet parking garage. There was nobody around as Bradley tucked his hand up inside the hem of your dress, finally feeling that supple skin against his rough palm.
"Roo," you gasped, trying your best to walk along with your keys in your hand while he let his middle finger drift down closer to your pussy. But you didn't tell him to stop, and he knew how you were. There was nobody around anyway, of that he was certain, but even if there had been, you probably wouldn't have minded.
"Where did you park, Sweetheart?" he asked, his head on a swivel as he looked around the dark corner of the garage for his Bronco.
"Over there," you gasped, gesturing toward a massive pickup truck. And sure enough, your shittly little car was tucked between it and the wall. Bradley stopped in his tracks with his hand on your ass and pulled you closer so your front was pressed against his.
You were clinging to his tee shirt as he asked, "How the hell am I supposed to fuck you in that thing? Why didn't you bring the Bronco?"
You whimpered and kissed his chin. "I took the Bronco out earlier, and I forgot to get gas for it."
Bradley kissed your lips hard and squeezed your ass before letting go of you in favor of your hand. He would have to work with what he had, because he was at the point of no return now that he was in your presence.
You ran along next to him as he walked to your car, and with shaky fingers, you unlocked the trunk for him. Once he dropped his duffle and backpack inside and slammed it closed, he picked you up in his arms. "I love you," he whispered, voice harsh as you whined his name. "But next time, bring the Bronco."
You nodded as you reached for the door handle, and Bradley eased himself down onto the back seat with you straddling his lap. It was such a tight fit, his head was grazing the ceiling, and his knees were digging into the back of the driver's seat. But your lips were on his, and your fingers were tugging at his hair. He was ready to completely lose control. He needed to.
Your wide eyes met his as you slammed the door closed. Without hesitating, he reached between his body and yours and worked at the fly of his jeans. His cock was throbbing painfully now that you were on top of him, your pussy rubbing against the back of his hand. "Jesus, Baby Girl. You're soaking wet."
"I know," you whined before sucking on his bottom lip. "I need you."
Bradley bunched the fabric of your dress up around your waist so he could watch as he thrust himself up to meet you. The relief he felt was immediate as you took all of him like a champ, sinking down around his cock until he bottomed out. You were gasping and moaning into his mouth, and he had known all along that you were the only thing that could satisfy him like this.
When he rolled his hips up, giving you more pressure, you tipped your head back. "Harder, Bradley."
Your voice begging him for more was music to his ears as he wrapped his arm around your back and grabbed your hip. He thrust up again, but you just moaned louder and begged him for more. "Harder," you whispered, your voice breaking beautifully on that single word.
"Sweetheart, I can only do so much here," he grunted, diggin his left knee into the back of the seat and bracing his right foot against the center console as he pistoned up into you. Your squeals of delight as your tits practically bounced free from your dress brought a smile to his face. How were you always even better than what his imagination and memory could provide?
"Harder, Roo," you gasped, your eyes bright and excited as you braced yourself on his shoulders. "Harder, Daddy."
He'd give you anything you wanted right now. Your pussy was tight and perfect and just for him. You were the only thing that could relieve this constant adrenaline rush. And he wanted to be just as good for you, too.
Lips locked with yours, inhaling every sound you made for him, Bradley braced his foot and fucked you has hard as he could. Sweat broke out on his forehead. The back windows started to steam up. You sounded like you were going to cry. But he didn't stop. He just went harder as you begged him for more and more.
"Oh! My god!" you cried out, your hands pulling his hair as you ran your lips along his sweaty face, not quite kissing him and not quite licking him as you came. He was close now, his balls rejoicing in the impending release he could feel building up in his spine.
"Fuck yes, fuck yes," he chanted softly as your voice rang out in the backseat of your piece of shit car. He thrust one more time, and he filled you with his cum as he heard a loud cracking noise.
It took him a few seconds to realize that the center console was no longer pushing back against his right foot, but he was too caught up in you to care much. Your soft giggles were right next to his ear, and the fabric of your dress had fallen back down over his hands which were now softly resting on your hips.
"I love you." Your breath was soft on his neck as you spoke, and the words were laced with a smile. "And I missed you."
Bradley caressed your soft skin in the dim backseat of your car, but he didn't dare move an inch. You felt too fucking good right now. He just held you and closed his eyes, and he could have fallen asleep still inside you when you started to shift. His eyes fluttered open to look at your pretty face as you sat up straighter on his cock and smiled.
"My wife is the prettiest thing I've ever seen," he whispered, and you stroked your fingers along his scarred cheek.
"Let's go home. You can have your birthday presents, and I'll run around and cater to you all day tomorrow."
He couldn't help but laugh as you kissed his forehead. When you eased yourself off of him, his cum dripped out of you and onto his jeans which just made him smile more. He was finally completely sated, and nothing was going to mess with that.
"What the fuck?" you gasped, turned around to face the front seat and nearly kneeing him in the balls in the process. "Bradley! What did you do?!"
-----------------------------
Mission accomplished, and now Roo is home! All of that adrenaline...oof. And what the fuck did he just do to her car? Thanks @mak-32 and @beyondthesefourwalls

What if reader did somehow manage to escape Silas for at least more then a year?

Summary: a year has passed since you escaped Silas. When he finally finds you, you're a shell of what you once were and he desperately tries piecing you back together.
Warnings: angst, kidnapping, panic attacks, a bit of age regressing? (I don't know), broken reader, knife

He’s found you. He’s finally found you. For a year you’ve managed to keep yourself out of his reach … but not anymore. You’re going to come back home now. He can’t stand to be away from you even a second more.
“Pick the lock”, Silas tells one of his men. “Quietly. If we wake up the other residents in this building they’ll call the cops.”
The man in front of him nods and sinks down on his knees by the front door with his hands full of supplies. Silas watches as he picks the lock with a satisfying feeling in his body. He’ll be able to hold you soon. A year has been too much for him. He usually can’t stay away from you for three hours … let alone a year. The second he sees you, he’ll capture you in his strong arms and never let you go again. His heart hammers in his chest at the thought that there’s only a locked door in between you. Soon.
“It’s open”, the man says.
Silas smiles and opens the door. The apartment is dimly lit, an indication that you must be asleep. His heart swells. Oh, how pretty you must be.
Sadly, one of his men knocks over a vase with his machete. Silas can hear it crash against the floor, but has no time to stop it. Mortified, he looks around, expecting you to stand in any of the door frames. He’s quiet as a dead mouse, listening. He can hear moving in the room to his left and grabs the handle. Locked? He tries again, harsher this time.
“I know it’s you”, he can hear your voice whisper from the other side of the door. “Leave, Silas.”
“L-Leave?” he repeats. “Are you nuts? I’ve been looking for you for a whole fucking year, baby! I’m not going anywhere. And if I am, you’re coming with me. Don’t make me break down this door.”
He feels like a feral animal. Every inch of his body needs to feel you and he’ll go crazy soon if he doesn’t get to have you.
“I’m not going anywhere”, you spit.
Silas turns to his men and gestures for them to pick the lock. Only a few minutes later, Silas opens the door. You’re crouched down in the darkest corner of the bedroom with a knife held out in front of you. Silas breaks out into a relieved smile. It’s really you. His dear, little Y/N.
“Why don’t you put down the knife before you hurt yourself and come over here and give me a big hug, hm?” he asks and opens his arms.
“I’d rather plunge the knife through my heart”, you growl back.
Taken aback is an understatement. Silas frowns in shock.
“Why?” he wonders.
“I don’t want your filthy hands on me!”
“Well, that’s not up to you to choose-”
“No, I’m serious, don’t touch me!”
He freezes at your tone. You sound absolutely horrified at the thought of him touching you? Everything about your body language is in defense. You seem ready to attack him if he moves just the slightest bit closer. You’ve never been like this before. WHat has happened to you?
“Y/N, put down the knife”, he says again, calmer this time, testing the waters. “I’m just going to talk to you. Okay?”
You shake your head quickly, lifting the knife with shaking hands.
“Take it”, he orders one of his men.
The designated man moves closer and you swing the knife wherever you can reach, cutting him here and there, but he is like a machine — not moving an inch. He grabs the knife out of your hands and backs away. You’re defenseless now, just like Silas wants you to be. He walks over to you and sinks down in a squat to take in the sight of you. Your entire body is shaking violently, wide eyes following his slightest motions. Silas reaches out his hand to stroke your head and calm you down, but you scream in terror and cover your face with your arms.
“Baby, I wasn’t going to hurt you”, he says, growing worried. “What’s wrong, little thing?”
he can hear you whisper something and leans closer to hear. A mantra of ‘don’t touch me, don’t touch me’ leaves your trembling lips. He can feel his heart sink to his stomach. Did he do this to you? He can’t have … can he?
“Give me the rope”, he says over his shoulder. “If I can’t touch them, I have to make a leash or something.”
Your cries escalate. Silas turns to look at you with even more despair.
“P-Please”, you beg incoherently. “A-Anything but that. Please!”
Silas gulps. This is his doing, a hundred percent. The touching can be coincidental, but he’s the only one who’s kept you tied. Things start to click together. Oh, what an idiot he is.
“Little thing, look at me”, he says. “I’m not going to touch you and I’m not going to tie you, but I’m not leaving this apartment without you. You got that?”
You nod quickly. He wants nothing more than to wipe your tears and hold you tightly in his arms, but he won’t be able to hear more of your cries. He starts to think of a way to get you out of here without frightening you even more, but his worries are quickly resolved. The lack of air you got when hyperventilating has made you black out.
“I’ll take them”, Silas says and lifts you up in his arms. “Don’t worry, little thing, when we get home, you’ll go back to normal.”
Tumblr media
Oh, how wrong Silas was. You’re quiet and reserved and refuse to be touched. All you do is sit in bed while hugging your legs to your body and keep your eyes down on the mattress. He has to come up with a solution to make you relax. You haven’t slept or eaten in days now. He leaves to go to the store in hope to find something to get you loosened up. While looking through aisles of scented candles and body lotion, he sees the children’s department. With one last resort, he walks over to the stuffed animals.
“Are you sure Y/N would like a stuffed animal?” his second in command asks hesitantly.
“What other fucking choice do I have?” he groans. “If they refuse to hug me, I guess I have to find a substitute. I can’t fucking listen to their crying anymore. They barely want to be in the same bed as me. This has to stop before I go insane.”
“Which one should you pick?”
“I think the white bunny will be the best alternative.”
He picks out the fluffy animal and heads straight for the cashier. The woman seems to recognize him, but doesn’t say anything. Silas is grateful for it. He’s in no headspace to be dealing with people today. All he wants is to see his little angel happy.
When he comes home, he notices that his bedroom door is open.
“Shit!” he gasps and looks around, seeing his second in command. “Get the car, they escaped again!”
He’s just about to pass the guest room when he notices that the door is ajar. Carefully, he peaks in, finding you lying on the bed in a fetal position. Silas sticks out his head in the corridor and alerts the second in command that you’re found before sneaking into the guest room.
“Hey, baby”, he whispers gently. “I got you something.”
You don’t move.
“Here”, he says, placing the white bunny on the bedside table.
Silas holds his breath, waiting for your reaction. He silently begs for you to like it. Carefully, you sit up and pet the soft toy. Silas notices how your eyes aren’t … dull anymore. You seem to recognize the toy somehow.
“D-Do you like it?” Silas asks nervously.
“Bunny …”, you whisper.
“Yes! Yes, it’s a bunny. I got it for you. Do you like it?”
You nod slowly and take it in your hands. For a few seconds you feel around before hugging it close to your chest. Silas breathes out in relief.
“Why are you here?” he asks. “I thought you ran away again …”
“I didn’t want to be in there”, you mumble. “Want to be away from you.”
“But … you’re mine. We’re meant to be together. I haven’t touched or tied you a single time since we came home. Why can’t you at least acknowledge my presence?”
“Scary …”
“I’m not meaning to- … wait, why do you talk like that?”
You look at him questionably.
“You talk … almost baby like”, he says slowly. “What’s going on?”
You hug the bunny closer.
“Oh … I get it”, he says, nodding. “Would you like to watch ‘Scooby Doo’ with me? In the living room? We can get you some vanilla ice cream and those cookies you mentioned that you liked when you were a kid.”
You nod. Silas breaks out into a smile and nods along.
“Alright”, he says. “Let’s go downstairs.”
You voluntarily follow him down to the living room, hugging the toy closely. He can’t seem to figure out why you suddenly started to act younger than you actually are, but he's not going to question it. You’re not crying, you’re not telling him to go away. That’s good enough. He creates a fort of pillows and blankets on the floor for the two of you to sit on, almost making a pillow fort. If you need childhood stuff, he’ll give them to you.
Silas gives you glances throughout the movie. He knows he has gotten a second chance. You’re broken and it’s all because of him. He breathes in. This time, he’ll be careful. He’ll never hurt you again.

Word count: 4.8k
Summary: you and a couple other friends stay at Sarah Miller’s for a sleepover. Sarah’s father, Joel, overhears something, you spill something, and eventually Joel sweetly takes your purity.
A/N: we wrote this up in like two hours in a frenzy of Joel x virgin reader madness. We love to see it, right??
Warnings: smut (duh), filler OC friends of reader and Sarah, reader is literally so clueless and innocent when it comes to anything sexual, soft!Joel, AGE GAP (reader is 22/23 and Joel is like 50), mentions of drinking alcohol/being intoxicated, wet t-shirt 👀, Joel is low key kind of a perv 🤷🏼, fem gendered terms used for reader, use of condom for once, loss of virginity, nipple play, I think that’s it??
Joel Miller Masterlist
****************************************************
“Should we get wine for the sleepover?” You asked Sarah.
“Heather and Kayla are gonna bring some. Dad would kill me if he saw me coming home with alcohol.” She rolled her eyes.
“But you're 23… You're old enough.”
“You know how my dad is. Still thinks I’m a virgin and that I’ve never had a boyfriend before.”
“Thought you told him everything?”
Sarah shrugged. “2 things I don’t talk to my dad about and that’s booze and boys. Much less when I mix those things together.” You both giggled. You paid for the snacks and other things you had picked out for the night and tossed all the bags in the trunk of your car.
“I got some fun things we could do too.” Sarah smirked.
“Jesus… Like what?”
“You’re gonna have to wait and see.” She smirked and let out an evil laugh.
“Think I’m just gonna go home...” you mumbled, making her laugh.
***
You walked into the house with Sarah, helping her bring in the snacks and things you bought.
“Dad, we’re back!” Sarah yelled out. You heard heavy footsteps walk down and he walked into the kitchen. Joel Miller. Your best friend’s dad and the one man you somehow can’t ever stop looking at with heart eyes… like the damn emoji.
“Hey, baby girl. Get everythin’ you girls needed?” His thick Texan accent was smooth as fucking honey to your ears. Made your heart and stomach flutter when you heard it, along with a different feeling that you couldn’t really explain… because you didn’t even know where the feeling came from.
“Yep. Heather and Kayla should be here shortly so we’ll be in my room.”
“Why don’t you girls take the livin’ room?”
“Because we’re gonna be sharing our deepest, darkest secrets.” She teased, making Joel laugh. Jesus Christ… his laugh. Definitely made that unknown feeling grow stronger.
The sound of the doorbell pulled you out of your thoughts. Sarah walked over and opened the door, leaving you and Joel alone in the kitchen.
“How have you been, Mr. Miller?” You asked sweetly.
“Good darlin’ how about you?”
“Good, just working.” You shrugged.
“Must be workin’ an awful lot. Haven’t seen much of you around.”
“Yeah trying to save up to move out of my moms. Maybe even get a place with Sarah.”
Joel nodded. “Yeah, she mentioned it. You know if you ever need anythin’ you can just let me know darlin. I don’t mind helpin.”
You blush when he calls you darlin. “Thank you, Mr. Miller.” You gave him a sweet smile and walked up to Sarah’s room.
“I’m gonna go change into my pajamas.” You smiled at the girls and grabbed your overnight bag.
You stepped into the bathroom and slipped on a white tank top with a pair of hot pink pajama shorts that hugged your ass perfectly. Granted tonight you didn’t care about looks but it was your favorite pajama set and your most comfortable. You walked back into Sarah’s room and sat down in the circle everyone was sitting in on the floor.
“Here.” Kayla handed you a glass of red wine. You took a small sip, letting out a groan when the bitter taste hits your tongue.
After almost 2 bottles of wine later is when the game started. The classic game of Truth or Dare.
“Okay okay, Kayla, truth or dare?” Heather asks.
“Mmmm dare.” Kayla replies.
Heather thought for a second. “I dare you to ask your most recent Tinder match for a dick pic.” She smirked.
“God you’re such a perv, Heather.” Sarah laughed.
Kayla pulled out her phone and did what Heather said. Seconds later her phone went off and she pulled up the text and started blushing.
“Fuck, I might end up meeting with this man…” she mumbled.
“You slut, let me see!” Heather yelled out, making Kayla turn her phone around and show everyone. You felt your chest tighten at the sight of the picture. It wasn’t long, but it was thick. So thick that his hand didn't fully wrap around it.
“Is… Is it supposed to look like that…?” You whispered.
“You’ve never seen a dick before?” Heather asked.
“Umm, okay who’s next?” You called out, trying to quickly change the subject.
“Y/N. Truth or dare?” Kayla asked, looking at you with a smirk. This can’t be good.
“Truth...”
“Is it true that you’re still a virgin?” She says; a little too loudly.
You felt heat rise quickly to your cheeks, almost making them the color of your shorts.
“Yes...” you mumbled into your glass of wine.
“No way! You’re fucking joking.” Sarah said.
“No, it’s true...” you said, a little embarrassed.
“Are you just waiting, or…?” Sarah raised a brow.
“Not really. Not waiting for marriage or anything, I just haven’t found the right guy I wanna do it with…”
“I bet you there’s plenty of guys that wanna do it with you.” Heather added.
“Yeah, but the only reason they want to is ‘cause they wanna bang a big girl. I don’t wanna lose my virginity to some sleeze ball like that.” You took a sip and let out a sigh. “Plus I have no idea what I’m doing when it comes to that.”
“Babe, I can teach you.” Heather smirked, making you all burst into laughter.
***
After you all finished the third bottle of wine, everyone fell asleep. You woke up and looked over at the clock Sarah had on her bedside table and saw it was a little past 1am. You stretched your body out and got up slowly and quietly, moving around the sleeping girls on the floor. You walked down to the kitchen and turned on the sink, filling a glass of water.
“Everythin’ okay?” Joel said, making you jump.
“Christ… You scared me, Mr. Miller.”
He let out a small chuckle. “Sorry darlin, didn’t mean to. You okay, though?”
“Yeah, just thirsty.” You said, giving him a small smile. You bring the glass to your lips, sipping at the cold water. It felt so good going down your throat that you couldn’t help but gulp it down as fast as you could.
The water spills over the sides of the glass and drips down your chin and onto your thin tank top. You quickly lower the glass and wipe your face, then look down at your wet chest. Joel’s eyes follow yours.
The water wet the center of the shirt, really showing the cleavage underneath. From the cold temperature of the water, your nipples quickly hardened and started to poke out under the tank top. Joel groans in his throat, causing you to look up at him.
His eyes are focused on your chest, strong jaw clenching and unclenching. He gulps and then his eyes meet yours. “You- you got another shirt you can change into?” He asks, voice an octave deeper.
“Yeah… it’s upstairs.” You bite your lip as you look up at him through your lashes. There was that feeling again… the one you couldn’t identify. It was somewhere in your pelvis.
“Why don’t you take that off? Don’t want you gettin’ too cold.” Joel glances down at your cleavage once more.
That sent fire through your body and blood straight between your legs. You squeezed your thighs together, barely holding back a moan that dared to escape. “O- okay.” You nod.
You couldn’t help but agree, the way his eyes were on you… the way it was making you feel… you don’t know why, but you want him to touch you. Everywhere.
You set the almost empty glass on the counter and reach for the hem of your tank top. Your fingers fiddle with it for a moment before you slowly lift it up, revealing your belly and then your breasts until it was all the way off.
Joel made another choked sound in his throat, staring at your lips for a long second before his eyes drifted back down to your chest. You feel like you should be uncomfortable. Like you shouldn’t want him to see your naked torso right now, but it’s not how you feel.
“I hear one of the girls ask if you were a virgin earlier?” His voice was soft as his eyes went up to meet yours again.
You nod.
“Didn’t hear your answer.” Joel shifts his weight to his other leg.
“Y- yes. It was… yes.” You breathe.
“Can’t believe that. Pretty girl like you…” he takes a deep breath and steps closer. “If it were me… I’d treat you real good. Take it as slow as you wanted.”
Your heart starts beating faster and you could almost feel the warmth coming off the older man’s body. You can feel your heart beating between your legs too. That was new.
“Mr. Miller… I-“ you swallow thickly. “W- would you… teach me?”
“Teach you what?” He pauses. “Need to hear you say it, honey.”
“Teach me how… to have sex. To- to feel good… like that.” You raise your brows just slightly.
“More’n happy to, darlin.” He smirks, just barely. “You comfortable comin up to my room?” He gently tucks a piece of hair behind your ear.
“Yes, Mr. Miller.” You smile.
He smiles back and nods his head towards the stairs, encouraging you to follow him.
Once you’re in his room, you’re overtaken by the pure smell and essence of Joel.
The door closes and you spin around to look at him, top half still bare, wet tank top in hand.
He stands there for a moment, not moving in just yet.
You’ve only just noticed he’s wearing gray sweatpants and a black t-shirt. You could… see things… through the sweatpants. It made your stomach twist in the best way.
“Have a seat, honey.” He motions to the bed, letting you sit before he starts to walk over. He plops down next to you, taking your tank top from your hands and tossing it onto the chair against the wall.
“Mind if I touch?” Joel hovers a hand over your thigh.
“Y- yeah. That’s fine.” You nod, breath a little shaky.
He rests his large hand on your upper thigh, the warmth of it making you gasp softly.
“Now, if at any point you wanna stop, just say so. Okay?”
“Okay.” You smile at him.
“So… you’ve never done anything?” He asks, thumb rubbing up and down on your leg.
You shake your head. “Well, I’ve like, done heavy making out before but that’s it.”
“You ever do anything by yourself?”
“By myself?”
“Yeah. Masturbate.” He looks up and down your body throughout the conversation.
“Oh… um, no. I mean, I’ve kinda tried but I don’t really know what I’m doing.” You admit, blushing hard.
He smiles. “That’s okay, sweetie. I’ll teach you anything you wanna know.”
You nod. “Can we start with the basics?”
“Of course.”
“Now the most important part, especially for your first time, is the foreplay.” Joel brings up the hand on your thigh, turns it over, and runs the back of it over your breast, his knuckles brushing against your nipple.
You shiver slightly. “F- foreplay?”
“Gettin you warmed up. If you’re not warmed up, it’s not gonna feel good.” He moves his hand up, pushing your hair over the back of your shoulder and moving his palm down your back and to the top of your ass.
“What’s the best way to do that?”
“Depends on the person. I like to start with kissing and touching.”
“Okay.” You breathe.
“Can I kiss you, baby doll?” He leans in just slightly.
“Yes, Mr. Miller.”
He laughs softly. “Call me Joel if you want to.”
“Okay.” You smile and the next thing you know, you’re both closing your eyes and leaning in.
His lips press to yours gently and you instinctively wrap your arms around the back of his neck. Both of his hands find the sides of your waist and pull you in closer as he sucks your bottom lip into his mouth.
You whimper as he barely bites your lower lip before releasing it. His left hand moves up to cup your right breast, making you giggle.
“What’s so funny?” He laughs along.
“Just tickled a little.” You smile.
He laughs again before leaning in once more. As you start to kiss repeatedly, making out with each other, he palms at your breast, thumb brushing over your nipple.
Whatever he was doing, it was making you feel like you had to pee. You’ve had a similar feeling before, but you could never figure out the cause of it.
You squeeze your thighs together, something Joel notices. “Does that feel good?”
“Really good.” You assure him.
“May I?” Joel moves his hands down to your shorts, slipping his fingers into the waistband.
“Yeah.” You move your arms behind you to support yourself as you lift your hips and he takes off your shorts.
“Mm. Look at those. Very cute.” Joel smiles when he looks at your panties.
They’re white, with small bundles of pink flowers scattered across the fabric, and edges that were slightly frilly.
“Thanks.”
“‘Course. C’mere.” He stands and motions to the bed. “Lay down.”
You do as you’re told, turning and moving up the bed to lay down, resting your head on one of the pillows. “Like this?”
“That’s perfect.” He nods.
“Um, Mr. Miller?” You feel nervousness churn in your stomach.
“What?”
“I think I would like it if you took some of your clothes off too.”
He grins. “Of course.” He reaches down to the bottom of his shirt and pulls it up and off over his head before letting it drop to the floor.
You look down at his sweatpants and notice that the bulge there has grown and tented the pants slightly.
“These too?” He asks, hooking his thumbs into the gray waistband.
“Yeah.” You nod.
He smiles and slips the sweatpants down over his hips and thighs, stepping out of them when they hit the ground.
You can’t help but look at his dick in his boxer briefs. It looks big, you think. Not that you really had anything to compare it to. Had to be longer than the one from Kayla’s phone earlier. And about the same thickness you’d guess.
Joel lays down in the bed, facing you, so close that his chest is touching your arm. It’s so warm. He’s so warm.
He leans in closer, kissing your cheek. Then another kiss at the base of your jaw. Then another below your ear and a few more down your neck.
You squeeze your thighs together again as he trails kisses down the center of your chest. You watch him as he does this, his lips brushing over your left breast until his mouth surrounds your nipple.
He presses an especially wet kiss to it before his tongue peeks out and flicks the pink bud. You gasp at the feeling, something tightening in your core.
“How’s that feel?” He asks, making sure he’s taking care of you.
“Kinda weird I guess. But- but good. Like, really good.”
“Alright.” He nods and swirls his tongue around your nipple as his hand moves to the lower part of your belly. He starts to gently rub his hand back and forth over it as it slowly gets lower, stopping at the top of your panties.
He suddenly sucks your nipple into his mouth and you reach up to grab his hair, your eyes rolling back in your head.
His hand, laid flat, moves down further, over the fabric of your underwear until his fingers are gently cupping your sex.
You’re ready to start squirming at this point. You don’t know what you need. Just… “more.” You whine.
“More what?” Joel looks up at you.
“I- I don’t know.” You frown.
“Alright, baby, don’t worry. I’ll take care of you.” He promises.
You nod in return and he leans back down to your breast, sucking your nipple once more. You gasp when his fingers press against your slit through your panties, just noticing how wet they were.
“You’re soaked, honey.” He smiles up at you, his middle and ring finger rubbing up and down the slick spot on your underwear.
“W- what’s that mean?” You ask shyly.
“Means I’m doin my job right.” He explains.
You lick your lips and nod, watching as he moves his fingers up to your waistband. He watches your face as he slips his hand underneath the white fabric, calloused fingertips brushing over a special spot that makes you buck your hips.
“What was that?” You whine quietly.
“That’s your clit. Has a lotta nerves. That’s your best friend.” He smiles and then looks down, following your gaze.
He moves his middle finger over your clit again and you gasp.
“We’ll come back to her.” Joel smiles up at you before his finger is dipping lower, pressing against your entrance.
“Ever had anything inside?” He asks.
You shake your head.
“Alright. I’m gonna go slow. You tell me if you want me to go faster.”
“Okay.” You bite your lip.
He starts to insert a digit inside of you, slow, like he promised.
It feels… well, it’s certainly not bad. Not yet. You’ve heard though that the deeper something gets, the more it hurts.
He’s in to the first knuckle when you start to feel a slight stretch. It’s not painful, but you can tell that things are tight down there. You have no idea how you’d get a penis in there.
You clench your pussy around his finger as he starts to move it again.
“Relax, honey.” He coos.
You relax your muscles and spread your legs further. He keeps pushing until he’s to the second knuckle and then he stops to let you adjust.
“How’s it feel?” He asks.
“Like… pressure.”
“Doesn’t hurt?”
“No.” You smile.
“Good.” He grins back at you.
He starts to pull his finger out. You begin, “What are you- oh!” Then he cuts you off when he starts to push his finger back inside.
He does it again, and again, beginning to slowly thrust the digit in and out of you.
“That’s feels r- really good, Mr. Miller.” You sigh with pleasure.
“Good, baby. It’s s’posed to… I’m gonna keep pushing a little deeper each time, but you let me know if it starts to hurt, okay?” He raises a brow at you.
“Yes, Joel.” You smile, using his first name for the first time.
“Good girl.” He smiles back.
He keeps moving his hand back and forth, slowly getting deeper with each thrust. Eventually, he’s got his middle finger fully engulfed by your swollen pussy.
“It doesn’t hurt yet.” You explain.
“Good. I’m gonna do two fingers now, k?”
You nod, giving him permission.
He withdraws his middle finger and then lines up again with his ring finger next to it. He starts to push in and you immediately feel the stretch this time. Even at the first knuckles.
“Okay that- that feels like more.”
“Hurts?”
“No.” You shake your head.
He keeps pushing to the second knuckles, letting you adjust again.
“Starting to hurt. Just a little.” You explain.
“Alright. Trust me on this, you can stretch out. Just gotta work at it a little.”
“Okay.” You nod.
“You’re- I mean, Jesus, you’re plenty wet. Soakin my fingers down here.”
You blush again.
“That’s a good thing, darlin.” He smiles and starts to pull his fingers out before pushing them in to the second knuckles again.
He does this for a few seconds and he was right, the pain was starting to fade and turn into pleasure.
Before you know it, you’re asking him to go faster, Joel speeding his fingers up. Something is building inside you, a feeling you’ve never experienced before. But, god, it felt fucking amazing.
He’s able to get two full fingers inside you now as he’s thrusting them at a quick pace. His thumb moves to press against your clit and you almost scream at the way it feels.
“Baby, you gotta be quiet. Don’t wanna wake up the girls.” He says in a hushed voice.
You nod, biting back another sound. He leans in to kiss you, swallowing your moans as you feel yourself get closer to exploding. You knew what an orgasm was… you’ve just never had one.
“Joel-“ you cry against his lips. “Feels- ohhh fuck… it’s gonna happen.” You gasp.
“Alright, honey. I’ve got you. Don’t worry. You just enjoy it.” He breathes the words before kissing you again.
The shockwave finally hits you, sending your brain and body into a frenzy. Your legs shake and your hips buck, you’re moaning into Joel’s mouth helplessly, feeling liquid spread over his fingers and into your panties. You’re almost sobbing as Joel continues, eventually starting to slow his hand down.
He pulls back so you can breathe as hard as you need to, cunt still pulsing as he takes his fingers out of you. “You okay, darlin?”
You take a deep breath and nod. “Y- yeah. That felt really good.” You whine.
“You like feeling full like that?”
You nod frantically.
He laughs a little, nodding as he helps you pull off your now completely soaked panties. He throws them behind him, them landing somewhere on the floor next to the bed.
He rolls onto his back and removes his own underwear before reaching into his nightstand drawer and pulling out a condom. When he gets on his knees and moves between your legs, his cock bounces and drips down onto the bed.
“Is it gonna hurt?” You stare at his groin.
“Maybe at first. But don’t worry, honey, we’ll do the same thing. Take it nice and slow until you adjust.” He smiles and opens the condom, rolling it onto his hardness.
He tosses the wrapper aside and positions himself above you, leaning down to kiss you as one of his hands guides him to your entrance.
The head of his cock slides up and down through your wet folds, making loud wet noises. You blush a bit at how filthy it sounds. But it turns you on even more.
When his cock brushes over your clit, you reach for his shoulders to ground yourself and keep from being too loud.
All at once, it hit you. You were dangerously close to losing your virginity.
He senses your nervousness and looks up at you. “Hey, we can still stop. Don’t have to go through with it.” He hums against your lips.
“No, I want to. I want it to be you, Joel.” You kiss him.
He kisses back happily and then he’s pushing into you. You gently bite his bottom lip as you whine. He’s going so slow and it feels so good, so full.
“J- Joel…” you breathe against his lips, forehead pressed to his.
He pauses, almost halfway in. “Can I work you open, baby?”
You let out a shaky breath, hips rolling against his. “Yeah.”
He groans as he pulls out of you until the head of his cock catches your lips, then he’s pushing back in. He goes a bit deeper every time, still moving nice and slow so that you don’t hurt too much.
With each thrust in, you breathe a soft moan into his mouth. He’s swallowing your noises like it’s his last meal, his hand moving up from between your legs to cradle your face as he kisses you.
“You’re so-“ he groans. “You feel so good.”
“Y- you do too.” You whimper. “Please… go all the way in.”
“You sure?”
“Yes.”
He lets out a low moan as he pushes all the way inside now, sheathing his cock in your tight cunt.
It does hurt a little, but you’re so aroused you couldn’t care less. The pain and pleasure mix is making you dizzy. He pulls most of the way out before pushing all the way back in. You gasp at the feeling and dig your nails into his shoulders, clawing at the skin there. It only encouraged him.
He began to speed up, letting out little grunts as he thrusted. You kept making out all the while, swallowing each other's noises and trying not to be too loud.
After a few minutes, Joel’s hips were slapping against your thighs, the sound of it filling the room. He hooks his arms under your knees and lifts them up, getting even deeper as he keeps his fast pace.
“Ohh fuck. M- more. I- I need more, Joel.” You cry against his lips.
He reaches down and starts rubbing circles against your clit and that’s exactly what you needed.
You’re gasping for air as his hips start to stutter. “Baby I’m getting close.” He groans.
“M- me too.” You whine.
He rubs your clit even faster and then you’re tipping over the edge. You stifle a scream as you kiss him, orgasm hitting you like a train.
That’s all it takes to finish Joel off and he cums, thrusting especially hard as he did so.
You’re both panting, holding onto each other tight as he slows down. He pulls out of you and you whine at the loss.
After removing and tying the condom, he puts it in the little trash can next to the bed and lays down next to you.
His fingers trace up and down your side, his lips pressing kisses to your lips and cheeks as your breathing evens out. “Congratulations.” He whispers.
“Hm?” You hum against his lips.
“You lost your virginity.” He smiles.
“Yeah.” You laugh.
“You still feeling good about it?” He pulls back enough to look into your eyes.
You nod. “It was perfect.”
“Good.” He grins. “As much as I want you to sleep in here with me… I don’t know if you want your friends finding out about-“
“It’s okay.” You smile. “Can we just cuddle for a little bit before I go back to Sarah’s room?”
“Of course.” He nods and pulls you close. “I did have a question…”
“What?”
“Can I keep those panties of yours?” He blushes a little.
You grin, happy not to be the nervous one for a moment. “Yeah.”
**
The next morning you and the girls were downstairs enjoying breakfast when Joel walked down dressed and ready for work.
“Mornin girls.” He called out, smiling.
“Good morning Mr. Miller.” Everyone but Sarah called out in unison, making him chuckle. You got up from your seat and took your empty plate to the kitchen.
“Still have my number right?” Joel whispered.
“Yeah I do...”
“Feel free to send me a text any… time.” He whispered, giving you a wink. You tried so hard not to giggle and smile like a stupid school girl but you felt the heat rush to your cheeks, not really helping trying to hide your emotions.
“Didn't know you knew how to text.” You teased.
He looked around and saw the girls were still sitting at the table talking away. He leaned down to where you could feel his lips brushing against your ear. “There's a lot of things you don't know about me, baby doll.”
It felt like someone had poured ice down your shirt. Chills went up and down your spine and thankfully the new t-shirt you had on was a lot thicker than the tank top from last night, so Joel couldn't see how hard your nipples got just by the words he whispered to you.
He placed a soft kiss on your temple and made his way out to the dining room with you not far behind.
“Alright, I'm out. Shouldn't be home too late.” He said as he kissed the top of Sarah’s head.
“I'll be here.” She smiled.
“Bye, girls.” He waved as he walked towards the front door.
“Bye Mr. Miller.” You and the other two girls said in unison. He glanced back up at you one last time and made his way out of the house.
“God your dad’s so hot…” Heather muttered, making you all laugh and Sarah groan in disgust.
Joel tossed his work belt in the bed of his truck and made his way up front. He pulled out your panties from last night that he had tucked into the pocket of his jeans and wrapped them around his rear view mirror. He leaned back into his seat and chuckled at the sight of your pure innocent panties in his truck reminding him that he was the one that took away your innocence and purity. He fucking loved it.
He heard his phone go off in the seat next to him. He picked it up and saw your name pop up.
You: so when's the next lesson?

LIKE A DUNGEON with fear cementing every corner, you struggle to savor the silence in your waking life.
Doubting all and believing none, your close friend Sunoo convinced you that your nervous aches and night sweats were a mere result of paranoia. He always judged the way you’d peek over your shoulder in public as if waiting to be attacked.
Clicking sounds from your window startled your rest during the night, with nightmares of seven tall hooded strangers blinding your judgement.
You're sure everyone's experienced the phenomenon of “gaze perception” at least once in their lives, in which a person might sense or assume that a pair of predatory eyes are stalking them from afar.
You didn’t like to use the word trauma to define your past experiences, but this wasn’t your first time feeling like a cloud of trouble waited to pour down on you. At this point, all you could do was hope that your intuition wasn’t right this time.
It was only a few months ago when you broke up with your abusive ex-boyfriend, Jay. The memories still linger as if they occurred yesterday, freshly cryptic in your mind. From your point of view, he started off as a charming casual acquaintance, which soon developed into a crush and then a toxic relationship. He outlined a list of rules for you to follow when he was away, ordering you around like a child. Anytime you even came close to breaking one of his orders, he’d beat the shit out of you, saying that his rage was out of love.
From Jay’s point of view, you weren’t just an obsession, but a belonging—his favorite humanoid toy to play with. He threatened that if you ever left him, he’d come back for you one day, saying that he’d never stop watching you.
And so, you moved. Not far, but a good distance away. You didn’t feel protected anymore in your usual environment. Though, there was one place in which you felt completely safe—free from watchful eyes and hostile hands. It was the tatty old convenience store a few blocks from where you live. The place hadn’t developed much since what appeared to be a decade or two ago, but they always supplied the most tasty, high quality snacks you could get your hands on.
As silly as it may sound, the fallout shop was your haven, and you grew particularly fond of shopping there late at night when it was less crowded.
You walked passed the familiar electronic doors, the fluorescent ceiling lights sparkling off of the bleach-mopped tiles. The usually uplifting radio station was replaced with the chilling whoosh of air circulating through the vents.
“Hello! Welcome to Goldman’s 24-hour convenience,” a friendly accented voice chimed. “Hello,” you returned with a nod, a bit confused by the new face. The usual cashier was an elder women by the name of Mandy. Her laughter alone could make some of your darkest nights glimmer again.
The young man wore a name tag on his dark blue collared shirt: Jake. You couldn’t help but wonder why Mandy wasn’t working her usual night shift, but you didn’t care enough to interrogate the seemingly content boy.
Picking up a hand basket, you explored the aisle's shelves in search for something savory or sweet to snack on. Your gaze swiveled ahead of you before landing on the sight of two hooded strangers blocking your path. This time, a bit of their faces showed, revealing the devious smirks that spoke so many silent words through their sealed lips:
You can run, but you can’t hide from us, ____. For as long as we live, you’re not allowed to feel safe anywhere.
Goosebumps sprouted on the surface of your skin, nerves dancing around in your fingers until they became wobbling rods. It’s almost like you forgot to breathe due to the overwhelming terror, feeling frozen from within as the plastic basket slipped from your grasp, a loud clatter echoing throughout the store.
You remembered all of the horrible things Jay said he would do to you once he found you again. The bruises you concealed with makeup that Jay referred to as his "strawberry kisses” would have nothing on what you felt was coming your way.
“Are you okay, miss?” A kind male voice asked, snatching you from your trance and back to reality. You turned to meet the man behind you, revealing his concerned yet warm features. He picked up the basket you dropped, still processing that your mind successfully tricked you into seeing something that wasn’t actually there.
“Yes, I’m alright, t-thank you,” you smiled but it didn’t reach your eyes, looking more awkward than reassuring.
He pressed three finger's against your forehead, “I don’t think you’re being honest with me,” he frowned, your hot and damp forehead telling him that something was wrong. “I’m sorry, I haven’t even introduced myself yet,” he stuck out one hand for you to shake and the other to pass you back your basket. “My name is Heeseung,” he smiled, “I’m new in town with an affinity for convenience stores.”
“____, with an affinity to drop flimsy baskets in public,” you replied, suddenly feeling at ease from the humor. You started trailing to the ramen section and Heeseung was walking behind you. If it wasn’t for his kindness earlier, you’d probably be freaking out about how close he was. You reached for a spicy udon noodle pack that came with dehydrated tofu and seaweed sheets. Meanwhile, Heeseung grabbed a can of Spam and chicken flavored ramen.
“Speaking of your liking for convenience stores, I come here almost every night and I’ve never seen you before.“
“Well, yeah, I’m usually here earlier in the day. I just happened to need some gas and got hungry while waiting, so I decided to stop by for my favorites,” he peered into your basket, "You might wanna get some milk with those, too. It's ungodly how spicy they are!"
"I know, right? They're just so delicious, I can't resist them..."
"Still, Sapporo Ichiban instant noodles are the best! They always cook perfectly. Never too soft or too firm. It's my comfort food, honestly. I wanna hug the person who created them," he replied passionately.
"Eh, you're just gonna ruin 'em anyways."
He gave you a double look, "Are you passively judging my cooking skills or fat shaming me?"
"Neither. I'm shaming that pink block of salt you're gonna punish your organs with."
He scoffed, "This anti-Spam movement is outrageous! I'm starting an online protest where you'll be the number one convert."
"As if I'd ever try that...stuff," you rejected.
"Welp. More for me, I guess," he mumbled, digging into his jacket pocket.
“Dammit, I forgot my wallet in my car,” he said, placing his basket high up on the shelf. “If you see anyone try to take my stuff, kick ‘em in the shin for me,” he said before running out of the shop.
Analyzing your surroundings, you noticed that a few groups of shoppers and some solo snackers began raiding the bread aisle. You distracted yourself by heading to the refrigerator section, considering Heeseung’s recommendation of getting a smooth beverage to accompany your spicy noodles, tossing in a pack of strawberry flavored Pocky's on your way.
That’s when you felt an arm wrap around your waist, pulling you in before giving your head a sniff, his nose was wet and cold like a dog as he inhaled your scent. “What the hell are you doing?” You barked, pushing the creepy stranger away.
He was a middle aged man with a receding hairline and a few scars decorating his thin chapped lips. You wondered how many of those scares came from women he tried that “arm around the waist” shit on.
“Sorry, doll. I’m a hugger and figured you might've needed one,” he grinned, revealing the gnarly set of teeth that lined his grey gums. You couldn't tell if it was his foul breath or filthy clothes that smelled more like smoke. Either way, you were thoroughly disgusted by him.
“Well, you should learn to ask before throwing yourself on people,” you retorted, reaching for a container of banana milk.
“You like swallowing bananas, cutie? I bet I could force four of 'em down that pretty mouth of yours,” he slithered while adjusting himself in his pants.
What the hell is wrong with this guy, you thought to yourself.
You tried to ignore his lunacy, only for him to grip your ass like a stress ball, landing a harsh slap across the curve of your jeans. You yelped at the sting, your own words being caught in your throat from the shocking act. You couldn’t believe that this freak actually just did that to you.
He met your eyes with a wink, smelling his hand as if you just provided him with an expensive perfume sample, "You got a lover at home, sweetheart?"
Tears dared to pour from your rage-ridden eyes as you balled your fists so tight, your bones might break. That's when a protective figure filled your blurry peripheral vision, stepping in front of you to block the man off as he tried grabbing you again, pushing him with such a force that he lost his balance.
“The hell do you think you’re doing, y'scrawny mother fucker,” he growled, pulling up is pants.
“You can’t do that kind of sick shit to people, pervert! Now get the hell outta here or I'll call the police,” the younger boy fought back.
“I was just trying to have some fun, kiddo. Ain’t nothin' wrong with that. I bet honey doll misses me already,” the older man went on, licking at his lower lip.
“I’ll knock every last rotting tooth from your mouth if you don’t leave in the next five seconds-"
“Hey, what’s going on over here?” Jake asked in the middle of the commotion, the older man already fleeing the scene. Jake looked at the younger boy first before eventually meeting your eyes. You wish you could hide how shaken up you felt. The container of milk was bleeding out its strong banana scent on the once spotless floor, tears finally streaming down your cheeks.
“Oh my God, Jungwon, what happened,” Heeseung came running over, asking the boy who defended you. “It was nothing,” you interrupted before Jungwon could answer, the three boys standing dumbfounded around you in a puddle of banana milk. “Do you need a ride-" “Don’t worry about me,” your voice cracked in embarrassment.
Is there any way to explain how the world made you ashamed of your own tears?
You left your basket behind, apologizing to Jake who had to clean up the sticky mess. You didn’t wanna leave just yet, afraid that the older guy might be waiting for you outside, so you went to the ladies restroom instead to call your friend Sunoo.
“____?”
You cleared the lump in your throat before answering, “Sunoo,” you began shakily, “I need you to come and pick me up from Goldman's.”
“You sound terrible, is everything okay? You’re worrying me, what happened?”
“I’m sorry, Sun. Everything’s okay, I just really need you right now.”
“____,” he sighed. You suddenly felt guilty for even calling him.
“Sunoo, if you can’t make it, I won’t be mad at you,” you said in between the silence, trying to encourage him to make a choice.
“I-I can’t, well, I can, but, not soon, at least. I’m only an hour away, if you’re willing to wait that long.” The pity in his voice made you wanna cry all over again. Looking at the time on your phone, it was six minutes til midnight, and you refused to haul your best friend out on the road this late. “No, that’s alright, Sunoo. I’ll just call an Uber.”
His side of the phone fell quiet for a moment. “____, I know how much you hate Uber's. Don't do that to yourself because of me."
"I'll be okay, Sun, just get yourself some rest."
He paused before asking, "Are you sure?”
“Yeah. I’ll talk to you later, okay?”
“Of course! Call me when you get home!”
You finished up in the bathroom, mentally preparing yourself to face the strangers beyond the not-so-comforting walls of the restroom. To your surprise, Heeseung and Jungwon were still in the store. Huddled around Jake at the checkout counter, the three of them took loud sips from steaming cups of ramen. “Hey, ____,” Heeseung began, resting his snack on the counter. “We could help you file a report against that guy, if you want.”
Jungwon met your eyes with his own sincere ones, “He should pay for the way he treated you.” Jake put your basket from earlier on the counter, dry items taking the place of the previously wet ones.
“Do you still want these," he asked shyly. After everything that happened, you felt empty in more than one way. Some warm broth and noodles is exactly what your body needed at the moment. You nodded, handing Jake a $20 bill. Beeping sounds immediately met your ears as he scanned your items with a strange haste. You looked back to Heeseung and Jungwon.
“Getting the police involved will only make it harder for me to forget this ever even happened. Thank you for your concern, though,” you smile at the humble pair before they took the final gulps from their ramen cups before discarding them.
“Here’s your change,” Jake chirped, handing you the plastic bag of goodies. “Thank you,” you bowed, heading to the exit.
“Y'sure you don't need a ride?” Jungwon asked. You flashed him your phone screen. “Uber,” was all you said before walking into the black of the night, the sliding doors closing behind you.
According to your smartphone, you should expect your chauffeur, Sunghoon, to arrive shortly in a black truck with tinted windows. The vehicle came speeding through the parking lot, a chill wind hitting your features. The truck was so dark, that it almost blended into the night. He rolled down the window, looking you up and down.
"Name?"
"Uh, ____," you said, his blunt question catching you off guard.
"Get in," he replied, directing a thumb to the back seat, unlocking the door as you slid in, bumping into another passenger. Immediately caught by his dark eyes, the boy waved slightly, muttering a deep “Welcome aboard,” before fixing his gaze out the window again. The truck sat idly as Sunghoon delayed taking off, exchanging a few hushed words to the guy sitting in the front passenger's seat.
Click.
The backseat doors opened from both ends, Heeseung, Jungwon, and Jake joining you in the black vehicle. "Scoot over, Niki," Jungwon complained, trying to get comfortable in the crammed space. That's when you saw one last person join you all in the truck, his face capturing the moonlight like a thief.
"Sunoo?! W-what are you doing here? I thought you were an hour away!" All he did was frown in response. He always made that face whenever he was hiding something from you. "Sunoo," you pressed, nudging his shoulder.
"Oh please, would you just shut the hell up already," the hostile driver growled at you.
You screwed your eyes brows in confusion, "What's going on here," you inquired, now feeling anxiety start to creep up on you.
"The very thing I warned you about before you abandoned me," the front passenger bit back.
That voice. You knew exactly who it belonged to.
It was Jay, your looney ex-lover, sitting right in front of you. An angry yet pitiful scowl contaminated his handsome features.
You pushed through Heeseung, reaching for the door handle, only for Niki, the quietest yet scariest one, to snatch your wrist, pulling you into his tantalizing grip. "Let me go," you yelped, only for Jungwon to harshly cover your mouth.
Screech.
Sunghoon pulled off at a dangerous speed, causing your bodies to shake in the truck. Heeseung crossed his legs cooly as if he wasn't just casually talking with you in the store, “So when do we get to have fun with her, again? It’s not like she did any good entertaining me through conversation.”
Jake rolled his eyes at Heeseung, “I could’ve used your enthusiasm when I had to stuff that fat old chick in the freezer. Alone. On top of that, I had to mop the floor quintillion times before the blood stains got out.”
“At least you’d make a good house husband,” Sunghoon joked.
You felt your heart sink to the pit of your stomach at Jake’s confession: He killed Mandy.
"I'm sorry, ____," Sunoo whispered, fighting back tears as he hid his face from you.
Everything was starting to make sense now.
The visions of seven hooded boys.
The clicking sounds you'd hear from outside your window at night.
The way you could never shake the feeling that you were being watched.
Jay’s past words echoed in the back of your mind:
"If you ever decide to leave me, don't ever think that you'll get very far before I catch up. I'll always be watching you."
You bit Jungwon's hand, causing him to retreat his palm from your flushed face. "Sunoo, you betrayed me! You told me that I was paranoid when you knew exactly what was going on behind my back! I felt safe with you...I trusted you! And you fucking lied to me!"
"God, I've had just about enough of her nagging," Niki said, landing a fisted blow across your face. As you faded out of consciousness, Jay tried to soothe your daze.
“Even though I betrayed you and beat you, it was only my funny way of expressing how much I love you. Can’t you see that I did all of that out of love?”
You could still hear Sunoo pleading for your forgiveness in the background as you held onto the last strand of your consciousness.
"I've been watching you for a long time, love. You always try to escape me and I never understood why you just wouldn't listen to me. All I've ever done is love you and try to protect you. This time, I’ll make sure you’ve learned your lesson.”
And that was the last thing you heard before retreating to the vacancy of your mind, floating around in the silence of your oblivion. Left in the hands of seven reckless boys who’d successfully lured you into their cat trap, you didn’t know what to expect once you’d open your eyes, but you knew it wouldn’t be anything good.
In that time, you came to the unsettling conclusion that broken toys were Jay’s favorite, and if you weren’t already broken upon being found, you would be by time he’s done playing with you.

Ooo the hantengu clones in heat. Especially karaku... the poor babies
Sekido
He's miserable, and not doing anything to help himself. Sekido absolutely despises everything his body is trying to do. The sudden sensitivity and urges to seek comfort are humiliating, and worse, they make him much too vulnerable. Finding some isolated corner to hide in doesn't make anything better for himself, though, nor does snarling at anyone who gets near him. It's an ordeal just to get Sekido to let you sit nearby, and he's resisting any of your attempts "help" like he thinks you're trying to trick him.
A lot of the cause for this is that he hurts. When he's this sensitive, all of his old, poorly healed wounds and self-induced stress aches go from unpleasant to agonizing, and that makes Sekido desperately defensive. He instinctively fears being hurt while he's like this, while he's unable to defend himself properly... even though the slightest relief would have him melting in seconds.
Karaku
Heats make him desperate, to the point where his usual pleasure-seeking behavior turns frantic. When he feels like this, Karaku would do anything to avoid pain or discomfort. He wants to be held and touched and treated softly so badly it hurts, but that's not an option. It's never been an option, outside of when humans had another use for him that he could be rewarded for. He's pliant enough that he won't lash out even if you approach him, too limp and uncomfortable to do anything but accept what happens.
Any kind of touch you offer is highly effective. Effective in the sense that Karaku's brain shuts off even more than usual. He can't remember why he shouldn't just crawl halfway into your lap and press his face against your shirt until everything stops feeling so awful. There's not a thought left in his head about the possibility of being hurt— just desperation for anything that feels good.
Aizetsu
As soon as he starts feeling weird, Aizetsu tries to hide. After spending so long contained with the other three and their more violent habits, his instinctive response to feeling vulnerable is to avoid any unwanted attention for fear of it turning violent. Regardless of if it's comfortable or not, he's curled up in the smallest, darkest place he can find, muffling sobs into his hands because every part of him feels wrong. The oversensitivity makes his usually fragile emotional state much, much worse.
The combination of fear, stress, and his body's overreaction to every stimuli makes him actually sick, more often than not. Aizetsu is prone to being affected by his emotional state anyway; like this it only gets worse. Even though he knows that proper care would make him feel vastly better, he's stuck in a miserable state of believing he deserves to suffer through the heat alone.
Urogi
Heats wreck his energy levels, making him lethargic, dazed, and barely aware of what's going on around him. Instead of constantly fidgeting and moving around, Urogi can barely get himself to sit up on his own. The most reaction you'll get out of him, most of the time, is twitching wings and maybe a miserable whine. He wants attention so badly when he's like this, anything so he's not just lying there and spacing out for hours at a time— it's unnerving for time to disappear like it does when his brain is barely functional.
He's too weak and limp to lash out at you, though so it's safe to get close. With his whole body oversensitive and so very responsive to anything that feels good, any kind of petting results in whimpers and full-body trembling as it gets even harder to think clearly. Especially when that restless energy shifts into arousal, he's soon desperate for more and more of your touch.

crying hcs
gn! reader | older brothers dateables
a/n planning on doing the side dateables in another post! it'll take a while tho since school is kicking my ass /_ \
.
Satan:
He rarely ever gets emotional enough for this to happen now that he's learned to control his wrath. He might cry because of a particularly sad story he's been reading or maybe a cat he's taken care of fell sick, and while he can deal with that, it's when he gets so angry his mind knows the only other way to let everything out is to cry-- that's when it hits hardest. He sobs until he's left feeling cold and desolate.
There isn't any sign to know when he's about to cry, it just happens. He could be throwing tables and chairs across the room, he could be sitting quietly reading and the tears just appear. He's always surprised when it happens, he brings a hand to his face and becomes shocked when he sees them. He tries rubbing them away but once it starts, it won't stop anytime soon. If he isn't already-- he'll run to his room or somewhere else private. There, he buries his face into his arms and just cries. He sobs untils he's completely numb.
He won't do anything to try and get you to leave if you enter the room but he scoots away when you get closer. Giving him a hug really helps-- it won't stop him from crying but physical contact grounds him in a way. Carefully wrap your arms around him, he'll slowly sink into your chest and hug you back as gently as he can, like he's afraid he might hurt you like this. You don't have to do much after that, just sit there with him until he calms down.
He reacts pretty similarly if his brothers were the ones to find him, except he actively tells them to leave once they enter. They almost never listen and they know he needs someone right now, so they comfort him in their own ways. He just needs a person by his side.
Asmodeus:
It's no surprise to anyone but Asmo cries a lot. He cries to guilt people into giving him what he wants, he cries when he thinks he looks even more beautiful than he usually does, he cries when he's happy, when he's sad-- and he's not ashamed of it. During these light-hearted situations, he still makes absolute sure to look beautiful. His bottom lick quivers ever-so-slightly, his nose turns just the tiniest bit red and he wraps his arms around himself. Afterwards, he can quickly fix himself up in no time at all. Just a small swipe of tissue and a bit of a touch up to his make-up and outfit, then he's back to looking pretty in pink.
It's when he's insecure that he cries the hardest, and it always happens in his room. He makes sure to bury everything in the deepest crevices of his heart, almost never surfacing for anyone to see but sometimes it does and he can never truly stop the tears from falling, and on top of that-- he thinks he looks hideous like this. His chin scrunches up, his eyes turn red and he starts hiccupping. He desperately tries to wipe the tears away and act like this never happened but it won't stop-- his hands start shaking and he wraps his arms himself to try and calm down. He subconsciously rocks back and forth and he vaguely feels like he wants to faint. He won't leave his room for the rest of the day.
If you find him at his darkest hour, he furiously tries to rub the tears away and act like he wasn't crying his heart out. He wants to tell you to leave in his usual light-hearted tone but the words won't leave him. His voice is stuck in his throat. Close the door, walk towards the demon and give him a hug. If you're there, he stops crying quicker than he would've alone. Softly pet his hair and whisper sweet nothings, he thrives off of compliments-- even now.
If his brothers find him, he won't even bother acting like he's okay. He knows they'll see right through him, he just sits still as he weeps. Every brother has their own way of comforting him and while some of them are a bit unconventional-- the thought that they're trying their best to cheer him up makes it easier to silence his crying hiccups.
Beelzebub:
He's never been ashamed about crying. It's natural, so when he feels the tears come he lets them fall. He's always been one of the more emotionally intelligent of the brothers; he follows after Mammon in that way. He lets himself cry when he feels like it and he makes sure to comfort his brothers the best he can when he finds them sad as well.
He always starts by holding his wrist to his chest. He doesn't exactly know why he does it but maybe he just likes feeling small. He's big and protective, perfect to keep his family safe-- but sometimes he wants to be held as well.
If you find him like this, he'll appreciate a big hug. The ones where you squeeze with all your might like you want to wring out all the sadness away (he won't really feel it but he values the gesture). He'll hug you back, of course, and his hugs are known for being the best of the best. There, he'll tell you what's upsetting him, he trusts you-- you're his family after all.
It's pretty much the same when his brothers find him; a big hug and a long talk about why he's crying. He sometimes ends up sleeping in their room, feeling like they need to do more for their younger brother in times like this.
Belphegor:
The opposite of Beel in every sense. He hates crying, loathes how weak and tired it makes him feel. Sure, he might fake some tears to get what he wants (his brothers were always a bit too lenient with him), but actually letting out the sadness, anger and guilt he burdens? He despises it but he doesn't exactly wish for it to stop altogether. The torment of feeling this way reminds him of Lilith, the memory of losing her is painful-- but it's still a memory.
His lower lip quivers just the slightest bit before the tears start falling, and from there, he buries his face into his favourite pillow. It can get gross, there's snot and tears spread all over and it's always a hassle to clean-- but it's better than letting anyone but Beel and you see him like this.
When you see his face smushed against his pillow, you don't think anything of it. He's probably just sleeping as usual, but the small shake of his shoulders and low sniffles give him away. He won't move if you sit next to him but he'd appreciate it if you rubbed his back and stayed with him as he calms down or actually falls asleep.
His reaction will change depending on which brother finds him crying. If it's Lucifer or Mammon, he'll yell at them to leave. He tolerates Levi, Satan and Asmo, but Beel is really the only one he wants there. The familiar smell of food and the joy in his heart when his twin offers him food in an effort to cheer him up never fails to make Belphie smile.

Day 12 of Kinktober 2022
Summary: you finally get to peg your boyfriend, Izuku.
Props to my beta reader for today @sasualblxd thank you for your amazing help bae!
497 words.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Izuku never would've thought that he would like this sort of thing. That was, at least, until he met you.
From the very first time he saw you he had been obsessed. You were perfect. You were funny, and kind, and had an absolutely magnificent body no matter how much you denied it.
It wasn't until later on, when he got to see a darker side of you, that he realised what he wanted most. Sure, you were nice, but you were also commanding and very protective. He felt safe around you. Even when you would bark and bite just like Katsuki just to protect him.
It took a while for him to fully understand it himself, but eventually he came to a conclusion. Izuku wanted to be dominated by you.
The first time the thought appeared, the poor, flustered boy was mortified, swatting away the thought bubble madly in fear that you could see all of the dirty imagery that had suddenly appeared in his mind. However, after many months of denial and embarrassment, he finally caved and admitted his thoughts. It was the single cutest sight you have ever experienced. Almost as cute as right now.
Almost as cute as the pink, freckled cheeks, decorated with dewy tear tracks that lay beneath you. His pupils are blown and trained only on you as he experiences mind-numbing pleasure that he's never come close to alone.
Green hair is splayed out on the pillow like a halo, damp with sweat and stray tears. He looks thoroughly fucked out.
In this moment, your hips stop moving, pausing mid-thrust for you to fully focus on the sight in front of you. You're currently in the missionary position, with him beneath you, so everything is exposed and Izuku is given no option to hide, allowing you the sight of his plump, sturdy chest. There are freckles there, too, and in the night you like to trail your finger over the darkest ones, like each is a precious constellation newly discovered.
"Wha- Huh?..."
How precious. He can't even get a real word out, mouth dry and voice worn as a result of two hours spent crying from pleasure. It's fair enough, your thighs are starting to hurt by now.
A pretty, manicured hand rests on Izuku's cheek to stroke it with the soft pad of your thumb, and in an instant your hips snap forwards, drawing out a delicious cry from your baby boy, and lighting a fire in your chest in excitement. His mouth is open and a line of spit connects his upper and lower teeth when you start to fuck into him again, pace slow. He almost can't take it, and at the feeling of being stretched out over your plastic cock he has another breathtaking orgasm, splattering his belly in white while deprived lungs fight for air again.
You could do this every day just to see him cry on your cock but you're lucky enough already.

Never Say Never
Chapter 2
Pairing: SingleDad!StevexReader
Summary: You are a 32 year old single mother, raising your seven year old son on your own. After being widowed at 30 and going out on awful dates with disgusting men for the past month, you have decided that you're giving up. You already had your great love. One person can't possibly get lucky enough to have two in their lifetime. But then your son starts playing baseball and the coach might just change your mind about that.
No posting schedule.
18+ only for eventual smut

“It seems to be just a case of the common cold,” you told the worried mother. “Dr. Wilson said she just needs rest and to make sure she drinks lots of fluids. She should be back to herself within a few days.”
“Thanks. I know I’m probably being silly rushing her in here but she kept waking up last night, crying, and I’m all alone. I’ve just been exhausted having to do everything on my own. It’s been so hard. And with her not feeling well, neither of us have gotten much sleep the last few days. My husband’s in the Air Force and he’s currently deployed and we don’t know when he’s going to get to come back home and my parents live three hundred miles away.”
Deep breath in, deep breath out. Let the feeling come. Acknowledge the feeling and then move forward. You closed your eyes for a moment, centering yourself, not letting this one burrow too far in before you forced it back. Maybe you weren't supposed to push them away but sometimes it was necessary. Like now. You couldn’t be the nurse who assured the nervous mother if you were busy trying to find three things to look at, smell, and move. It wasn’t reassuring to have your medical professional falling apart in front of you.
Pressing your index finger to your thumb, you allowed yourself to feel the sensation, to know you were here. You weren't back there. No one was waiting on the other side of the door to give you the news that would send a wrecking ball through the middle of your life, destroying and altering it forever. You were strong. You were handling it. You were moving forward. Opening your eyes, you put on your best smile.
“Of course. I can’t imagine how challenging that must be for you.” Actually, you could, but this was not the time or place to share your own story. This was the time to be an empathetic ear, to listen to your patient. It was not the time to unpack your own trauma or make this about yourself. “Please, no need to apologize. You call us whenever you need to. It’s always better to be safe than sorry.”
The mother thanked you, lifting her three year old into her arms. You directed her which way to go. Parents often got a bit turned around in this place, the hallways like a maze to the various exam rooms, like a figure eight. This practice was a thriving one, one that kept you very busy, your days packed with back-to-back appointments. But you preferred it that way. It made your days go faster.
After you finished college with your Bachelor’s of Science in nursing, you had immediately gotten a job at the local hospital. You'd loved it. The hours were long and you were exhausted all the time but it had been fast-paced and so rewarding. However, it had also been heartbreaking as some children who came into the hospital were there to stay and would never again leave. They would never get tucked into their own bed again, never run through their own backyard again, never sit on the floor of their living room on a Saturday morning eating cereal while watching cartoons again. The job had not just been physically exhausting but mentally and emotionally exhausting as well.
After you'd found out you were expecting Eli, Justin had suggested that maybe you needed something a bit more predictable. It would be hard for you to work twelve hour shifts with a baby at home. It would be even harder to watch children suffer, watch parents in the darkest moments of their lives, when you had a little one at home. You weren't sure how you could face that kind of heartbreak and then go home to your own child, hoping it never happened to you.
Still, you wouldn’t have given it up if it weren’t for Justin being in the military. With his job, he would often be gone for months at a time, leaving you alone. It hadn’t been a problem before but with your parents living across the country and his parents more than three hours away, you were limited when it came to help. So, you'd applied to the new local pediatrician's office, delighted when you got a call that same week, inviting you in for an interview.
You'd been there ever since, watching as Dr. Wilson’s practice grew. He was young, just a bit older than you, and new to the job but his warm demeanor and empathetic ear quickly had every mom in town bringing their child to him. It probably didn’t hurt that he was pretty damn good looking too.
“Hey Rita, I’m going to take my lunch if I don’t have any more patients for a bit,” you told your receptionist as you placed the child’s file into the cabinet.
“That’s fine. Your next appointment isn’t for an hour so you’re good. I’ll have Sarah handle anything that pops up while you’re out.”
“Thanks.”
You grabbed your lunch bag from the fridge and made your way out of the office, heading for the pond. When it was nice out, you always chose to eat your lunch out here, a little escape from the fluorescent lights and germs of the office. Finding a bench, you sat down, pulling out your bologna sandwich. It wasn’t your usual choice but it had simply felt easier to make two this morning instead of trying to come up with something else for yourself.
You pulled out your phone, dialing the number of the one person you'd been desperate to talk to after the events of yesterday. Janice was a photographer. She did great business and had multiple clients who came back to her again and again for family portraits, baby pictures, and senior photos. She worked from home, which also meant her hours were flexible and she was almost always available to take your calls. Sure enough, your best friend picked up after two rings.
“Are you sitting under your tree?”
You laughed, “How did you know?”
“Because it’s your lunchtime and that’s what you always do when the sun is shining. Are the geese around?”
“Yep. The five little babies are swimming with mom and dad. They’re so cute. Little brown fluffballs that look so soft and sweet. I just want to cuddle them.”
“I wouldn’t try it. Geese can be nasty.”
“You don’t have to tell me. Remember when Eli was two and he wanted to feed them and those two geese hissed and opened their wings wide when he got too close. We didn’t know they had a nest right there. I know they were just protecting their babies but that scared the shit out of me.”
“Well, Eli’s your baby. Of course you were scared,” Janice laughed. “Oh my god. That poor kid. He won’t go anywhere near them now. It cemented itself into his brain and gave him a complex. He’ll probably hate those feathered fiends for the rest of his life. So, how was his first baseball practice? Did he love it? Matt can’t wait to talk to him about it.”
“He did. He talked my ear off the whole way home. His best friend is on his team and his coach is the kid’s dad. He loves him and said he was so nice and fun. He’s really patient with the kids. When Eli missed the ball for the third time, he was so upset with himself. The coach was so sweet, giving him some pointers, and assuring him he could do it.”
“Oh…okay, hold on. Wait a minute. Why do you sound like that when you’re talking about his coach?”
“Like what?” you demanded.
“Like you did in high school when you used to talk about Josh.”
“What? No I don’t.”
“Yeah you do! You’re all gushy. You sound like a Disney princess about to break into song among the forest animals who are going to help you clean your home about the guy you just met in the woods.”
You snorted, “Oh please. No I don’t. I’m just glad that his coach is so kind since Eli is new at this.”
“Uh-huh…so, this coach isn’t cute?”
“I mean, yeah, he is…objectively speaking, most women would say he was very attractive.”
“Most women, huh? And what about you?”
“Yes, okay? Yes, I think he’s very attractive. Anyone with eyes would see that he is good-looking. You should have heard the moms at practice going on about his ass. Married moms basically saying they would cheat on their husbands for this guy. I swear, the housewives club is scary. But it’s just…he’s just Eli’s coach. His son is coming over to our house later today to play with Eli.”
Steve was attractive. Hell, he was possibly the most attractive man you'd ever laid eyes on and that made the guilt just twist in your stomach even harder. Justin had been the love of your life. How could you be so turned around by some guy you barely even knew? You'd spoken for all of three minutes. You didn’t know anything about him besides the fact that he coached kids baseball.
“Oh, is he now?”
“Janice, stop. Eli and Jeremiah have become best friends this year and Eli asked forever ago if he could come over and I completely forgot about it and it never happened. He asked again yesterday so I promised him I would set it up. That’s all it is.”
“And is his dad coming over to play too?”
You groaned, your hand coming to y our forehead, “Do you have to say it like that? And no he’s not. He has a work meeting. So, I’m kind of helping him out, I guess, but not really because I was going to invite the kid over anyway.”
“So, he’s just dropping him off and picking him up?”
“Well, he may have offered to grab a pizza on his way back to thank me for watching his kid. Which is completely unnecessary because I asked for him to come over before he ever told me about his meeting. I wouldn’t even have known I was babysitting for him if he wouldn’t have told me about it. I never would have expected him to hang around while our kids hung out.”
“Hmm, so you’re going to be having dinner with him, then?”
“And our kids,” you reminded her.
Janice had this all wrong. Of course she did. He was just being friendly. Your kids were friends and they wanted to spend time together. He’d said it himself, you were helping him out of a bind with childcare issues. That was all. He was just being nice and buying everybody dinner. Your sons were going to be there. It wasn’t like it was a date.
“Still. You know, I said maybe you could find a hot, single dad at practice and look at you, finding one on the first go! He is single, right?”
“I think so. He said his best friend was busy and he had no one else to watch Jeremiah. That would make me think the mom isn’t in the picture but I honestly have no idea. We barely talked because he had to start the practice.”
“Well, you should have plenty of time to talk tonight and get clarification on his status.”
“I don’t need clarification on his status. I told you, I’m done with all of that. I had Justin. There is no way I will ever find anything that can begin to compare with what we had.”
“You definitely won’t if you just throw in the towel. Come on, Aly. Would it really be so bad to just talk to him a bit? I’m not saying you have to jump his bones tonight. I mean, probably wouldn’t hurt. You haven’t been laid in two years, my friend. Your vagina could use some airing out. Clear all the cobwebs that have settled, you know?”
“Jesus, you are so foul,” you sighed, catching sight of a young family heading into the office. The dad had a little boy on his shoulders. He said something to the mom and she grinned, leaning up onto her toes to kiss him. The sight sent familiar pangs of the loss of what could have been, what should have been, through you.
“Maybe but you know I’m right. Anyway, if you’re going to be such a prude, then just talk to him. Be his friend. If your kids like each other that much, chances are this won’t be the only time you’re around each other. And then who knows?”
“Yeah…who knows…” you sighed, thinking you did know. The universe was never going to let you get that lucky twice. Something had to be wrong with this guy.
___________________________________________________________
You folded the towel from the dryer as you watched Jeremiah and Eli race around the backyard, dressed up in Eli’s superhero costumes. Your son had an entire bin of them. He was obsessed. Comic books and action figures covered the shelves in his bedroom. Eli had always loved superheroes but Matt, who was a self-proclaimed, very proud nerd, had gotten him into comics. Most of the items Eli now had came from Matt himself, stuff he’d kept since he was a kid.
You'd survived the drop-off, being cordial and friendly without giving off any signals that you were interested in anything more. At least, you thought you were. It was hard to concentrate when that man looked so damn good, standing there in gray slacks and a yellow sweater. When his cologne hit your olfactory nerves, a woodsy scent of sandalwood and pine, you had gripped the door frame, fighting back the swoon that was quickly coming on. But no, you were sure you kept things professional, just two parents in the midst of an exchange for a playdate.
Besides, you weren't even sure you were interested in anything more. You didn’t even know how to do more at this point. It had been so long since you'd spent real time with any man that wasn’t Justin or Matt. And even if Janice kept pushing you to move on, even if it had been two years, you weren't sure you were ready.
And you weren't sure if Eli would be ready. His therapist said he was doing well. He had adjusted as best as you could expect a child who’d lost his father to adjust. But did that mean he was ready to see his mom with a new guy? Was it fair to bring someone new into his life that could just disappear? What if you started something with someone and it ended badly and he lost another male figure and his best friend at the same time? Would he be so well adjusted then? He had settled into their routine, him and you against the world. You weren't sure you could change that on him.
He’d only been five when it happened but you had made sure that he’d never forgotten his daddy. A picture of him and Justin sat on his nightstand by his bed. It was one of your favorites, taken at the pumpkin farm when Eli was four. He held a giant pumpkin, looking so proud, when really Justin was holding the bottom of it for him, both of them beaming their matching smiles.
The two of you talked about him often, you sharing stories with him of you and Justin and him and Justin. Reminded him how much his daddy had loved him. You couldn’t allow him to forget. You couldn’t do that to Justin whose smile could have lit up the entire planet the first time he laid eyes on his son.
“Mommy! We’re hungry!” Eli yelled as he and Jeremiah came racing in the back door.
You glanced over at the clock, “Well, Jeremiah’s dad is bringing pizza and he should be here any minute. Do you think Superman and Batman can wait just a few minutes to eat?”
Eli groaned, dramatically tumbling down to the floor, “But fighting crime and saving the world is hard work. It makes us so hungry, mommy.”
“Okay…how about you two have some strawberries?” you offered, thinking it wouldn’t be too filling and it would get something good in their system before they loaded up on carbs and cheese.
“Strawberries!” Jeremiah’s eyes lit up. “They’re my favorite fruit. Daddy takes me strawberry picking every single year and we get a ton. My daddy makes strawberry jam and it’s so good on my toast.” His eyes went wide, shooting over to Eli. “Hey! I’ll ask my dad if you guys can come this year! It’s super fun. They have goats, cows, chickens, and ponies that you can ride!”
“Can we mommy?” Eli asked, turning those sweet blue eyes up at you.
“I…uh…I mean, strawberry picking around here isn’t for another month or so. But, maybe, I guess? I mean, if Eli’s daddy wants to take you too, that would be fine.”
“You can come too!” Jeremiah told you. “They have other stuff there like fancy soaps and stuff that they make. My mommy used to like those.”
“Oh, well, maybe…” you muttered as you busied yourself with getting out the strawberries. You ran them under water before working at slicing them onto a plate for the boys to share.
His mommy used to like those? So, she’d been around during his life, obviously. Enough for him to remember going strawberry picking with them. Unless, like Eli, he was repeating stories his dad had shared with him.  Where was she now? Had she left? Had she died? You couldn’t very well ask a little boy. What if she had passed? You couldn’t bring up that pain for him.
“Did we ever go strawberry picking with daddy?” asked Eli as the boys sat down at the table, the plate of strawberries between them.
You swallowed, “No. We didn’t go strawberry picking but we used to go to the apple orchard every fall and daddy would put you up on his shoulders so you could get the apples. And we always went to the pumpkin farm too.”
“We still do that!”
“Yes we do,” you smiled as you washed your hands. You worked so hard to keep the traditions that you and Justin started alive. It was another way for you to remind your son how incredible the five short years he had with his dad was. You looked up when there was a knock at the door, drying your hands on a kitchen towel. “I bet that’s Jeremiah’s daddy with the pizza.”
Smoothing your hands over your hair, you inhaled deeply, reminding yourself that this was just two parents whose kids had become best friends getting to know each other. No pressure. No reason to be nervous. You were simply trying to be good parents.
Grabbing onto the door, you swung it open, only to feel like the entire world had turned upside down at the sight of Steve. There he stood in those slacks and that yellow sweater that looked so damn good on him. Not many people could pull off yellow but boy, he could. His right arm was raised, two pizza boxes balancing on his hand and a smile that could have outshone the sun on his face.
“Pizza, as promised,” he announced.
Gathering yourself, you returned his smile, “The boys will be very relieved. Superman and Batman have been battling the forces of evil all afternoon and they are wasting away to nothing.”
Steve’s cheeks hollowed out as he released a long, audible breath, “Can’t have that. How will they ever keep the city safe if we don’t recharge them with greasy pizza? But seriously, I hope he was good for you.”
“He was great,” you assured him. “Seriously.”
“Good. Thanks again. You were a real lifesaver.”
“No problem. I…”
“Daddy! Where’s the pizza!?” came Jeremiah’s whine from the kitchen, loud and impatient.
“Sorry. It’s right here.” Steve grinned, tossing you a wink that had you dazed, before making his way into the kitchen, plopping the boxes down in the middle of the table. “We can’t have Superman and Batman losing their strength. Have to keep them fed so they can keep the city safe. Are we currently in Gotham or Metropolis?”
“Daddy,” Jeremiah sighed, looking exasperated with his father. “Everyone knows both of those places are based on New York City. Then we can be there together.”
“Oh, sorry,” snorted Steve, sharing an amused look with you. “I am not as well versed in superhero lore as you.”
“I know. Uncle Dusty knows way more than you.”
“Of course he does because Uncle Dusty is so much cooler than your boring, old dad.” Steve rolled his eyes, pulling out the chair next to Jeremiah and having a seat.
“You have a brother?” you asked as you stretched your arm up to retrieve the plastic paper plate holders from the top shelf. Turning, your breath caught in your throat. Steve’s eyes were watching you, focused on your midsection, right where your sweater had ridden up when you'd reached for the plates. He quickly looked down at his son as you cleared your throat and set the holders and plates on the table.
“Uhh…no. I mean, not really,” he laughed. “Dustin isn’t actually my brother. I used to babysit him actually. I helped him out one day. There were some older kids picking on him and his friends at the park and I stepped in. Anyway, he went home and told his mom about this cool teenager and she tracked me down and asked if I’d be interested in babysitting. I think she really just wanted him to have a guy in his life. His dad died when he was young and he was an only child. Anyway, he was ten and I was sixteen and he just latched on like a leech and stuck. So…” He balanced his elbows on the table, hands facing up. “I guess he’s mine now. Him and Jere, here, are really close. Jere is into all the nerdy stuff that Dustin likes so Dustin is like his hero.”
“Uncle Dusty is amazing! He taught me how to make a homemade rocket,” Jeremiah told you, his smile so like his dad’s.
But his eyes were different, a beautiful blue like the color of the ocean on a sunny day. And his nose was rounded, a cute little button, the complete opposite of Steve’s which was longer and pointed, almost Romanesque. He must have gotten those features from his mom, which left you wondering where she was again.
“Yeah, and you almost burned the garage down. That thing singed the walls. I had to pull out the fire extinguisher,” Steve reminded his son, grabbing plates and placing them into the holders.
Eli’s eyes went wide, “You almost started a fire?”
“Only a little one but you should have seen the rocket. It zoomed around the garage and then flew out and went bang! It was so cool.”
“Yeah, real cool,” Steve rolled his eyes.
“Daddy, did you get just cheese?” asked Jeremiah as Steve moved to open one of the boxes.
“Of course, kid. Do you think I’m new here?” He reached over, ruffling his son’s hair, causing Jeremiah to giggle and that familiar pain, the pain that reminded you of everything your son was missing out on, tightened around you once again. Steve looked up at you. “I got one cheese and one pepperoni. I figured those were safe bets since I don’t know what either of you like. Hope that’s okay?”
“I love cheese too!” Eli told him eagerly, grinning over at Steve. “And mommy usually gets bacon and pineapple for herself but she likes all pizza. Pizza is our favorite food. We have it every Friday and watch a movie.”
“Pineapple on pizza?” Steve questioned skeptically, that beautiful nose crinkling.
“Hey, don’t knock it until you try it,” you teased with a laugh, pouring milk for the kids. “My husb…” You paused, swallowing hard before taking the seat between Steve and Eli. But why shouldn’t you talk about Justin? Steve had to know Eli didn’t arrive by immaculate conception. “My husband thought I was crazy too. He was more of a pepperoni and green onions kind of guy. But my roommate in college is the one who got me into it. She ordered it one night and I was skeptical too but the combination of sweet and savory is delicious.”
“I think I’ll just have to take your word on that one,” he chuckled, shaking his head. “Fruit on pizza.” He looked over at the boys, one of those long, thick fingers swirling around by his ear. “Can you believe that? She’s nuts.”
Eli giggled as Steve plopped a piece of cheese on his plate, “My mommy can be crazy. Sometimes we do backward dinner.”
Steve’s lips pursed, head tilted, “Backward dinner? What’s that?”
“It’s where we have dessert first. So, we’ll have hot fudge sundaes and then we’ll have chicken nuggets and vegetables. It’s my favorite kind of dinner because I don’t have to eat all my vegetables before I get my dessert.”
“Oh, that does sound like a good deal because dessert is the best part of the meal,” Steve agreed with a nod.
“I mean, it’s only done sometimes as a special treat.” You didn’t know why you felt the need to justify yourself but you did. “I do make sure he eats healthy.”
Steve laughed, “I’m sure you do. Sometimes Jere Bear and I like to have ice cream for dinner, don’t we?”
“Yeah! My daddy used to work at Scoops Ahoy and they have the best ice cream! I always get a banana split and daddy gets the U.S.S. Butterscotch.”
“Mmm, the U.S.S. Butterscotch is my favorite,” you grinned. “Eli always gets the hot fudge sundae.”
“With extra fudge!” he added.
“Obviously,” Steve scoffed. “You can never have too much fudge.”
“So, how long ago was this when you worked at Scoops Ahoy?” you asked, picturing him in their little sailor outfit. You couldn’t deny that it gave you a little thrill of pleasure.
“Oh god, it’s been years now. I worked there right out of high school. I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life and when I couldn’t even get into community college, my father forced me to get a job. Said I needed to know what it was like to earn a working man’s wage.” He snorted harshly, leaving you with the impression that his relationship with his father wasn’t a particularly good one. “Anyway, I worked there for a couple years. That’s actually how I met my best friend, Robin.”
“And I assume you did figure out what you wanted to do with your life since you had a work meeting tonight?”
Steve took a large bite of his pizza, the slice folded up in his hand, “I’m a project manager for a construction company.”
“I don’t think I’ve ever heard of that job. What exactly do you do?”
“I oversee the building process, make sure everything is completed on time and within budget. I work with the architects and the engineers to develop plans, establish timelines for different phases to be complete, and calculate what labor and materials are going to cost. That’s what my meeting was about tonight actually. We just got a contract for a new subdivision they’re putting in off of Cherry. It’s a big job. We’re thinking it’s going to take about two years.”
“Wow, that’s a long time.”
“Not really when you consider we’re building around sixty new houses. It’s a good thing really, means my team will have plenty of work to do for a while. Steady income, you know? Nothing’s worse than having to lay someone off, knowing you’re possibly making their life impossible.”
“What’s laying off?” asked Eli.
“Well, when we don’t have enough work to do, then we don’t have the money to pay people. So, I have to tell them that we’re letting them go for a while. It’s not really getting fired because you hope you can call them back when there’s more work. They can apply to get money from the government but it’s not nearly as much as they make when they’re working. That can make it hard for them to feed their families and pay their bills.”
“That seems mean,” Eli commented. “Why do you do it?”
“I don’t want to do it. But when the money’s not there, we have no way to pay them. It happens a lot in the wintertime because there’s not as much building when the weather’s bad. That’s why this job is such a good thing because it will be steady work for the next two winters. I won’t have to worry and neither will my guys.”
“Well, that’s good. Did you have to go to school for that or like a trade school?” you inquired.
“No college. I don’t think I was ever made for college. I struggled through high school. Of course, that could have been because I was interested in everything else but high school. That’s why I’m so glad my kiddo here got his mom’s brains. She was an overachiever, still is. I actually started just like my guys, doing the construction part. I got interested in how the job runs and wound up getting my certification. And about four years ago, they promoted me to project manager.”
So Mom definitely wasn’t gone but then why did he need a babysitter? Maybe she was busy too? Or maybe she lived out of town and they shared custody? And this was none of your business. Why were you so interested in what the situation was with mom?
“Wow, that’s amazing. You must have really impressed them then. Going to college isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, anyway. I’ve told Eli, it all depends on what you want to do with your life. Some jobs don’t require college and they’re just as important. I mean, you build homes. You provide a space for families to start their lives and make memories. I think that’s pretty important work.”
A flush rose up along his neck, bright red against the yellow of his sweater. A small smile curved his lips as he tapped the table before looking up at you. The boys had long given up on your conversation, deeply entrenched in one of their own about the latest episode of X-men: Evolution.
“I mean, you work in a pediatrician’s office, right? You help sick kids. I think that might be just a bit more important than what I do. But thanks. What do you do in the office, anyway? Are you the doctor?”
You laughed, “No. That was far more schooling than I was interested in doing. I’m a nurse but honestly, we know just as much as they do. Experience is way more educational than sitting in some class, listening to someone talk about stuff. Sometimes, I think we might know more than the doctors do. But Dr. Wilson is great to work with. He’s not one of those guys that talks down to his nurses or acts like he’s superior because he’s got that M.D. after his name. I worked with plenty of misogynist ego-driven jerks when I worked at the hospital. They act like they’re royalty or something. Dr. Wilson actually trusts us and values our input. He makes us feel like a part of a team instead of a dictatorship.”
The conversation flowed easily, the boys jumping in here and there, all four of you laughing and smiling as you enjoyed your pizza. You could not deny the feeling of rightness in this moment, this moment that was everything you had ever wanted for your son. It was a picture perfect moment in time, this little dinner at your kitchen table full of warmth and laughter.
And no, you weren't insane. It wasn’t that you were looking at this as a family or that you were jumping ten steps ahead of just this pleasant evening. It was just nice to have a full table, to have it not be just you and Eli, to watch your son enjoying himself. He loved when Matt and Janice came for dinner but this was different. He had his best friend with him, the two boys sending each other into hysterics every thirty seconds.
For just this moment, this little slice of time, the weight had been lifted from your shoulders. The constant guilt that you weren't enough, that you could never be enough for your son. You could never be all of the things that he needed you to be. For just this moment, you thought maybe you didn’t have to be if you could surround him with people who provided everything he needed.
“Alright, kiddo, we should probably get heading home so you can take a shower before bed,” Steve announced around seven thirty, pushing back from the table and standing up. He gathered the paper plates, tossing them in the trash. “Did you want help cleaning up before we head out?”
You waved your hand dismissively, “Oh no. That’s not necessary. Just a quick wipe down of the holders and popping the cups in the dishwasher. It will only take a couple minutes.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah, seriously. No big deal. Besides, you bought the dinner so the least I can do is the clean up.”
“Yes, but I brought the dinner to thank you for watching my kid.”
“Please. I offered to take him and having Jeremiah here saved me from having to wear the Superman cape and run around with Eli all evening. It was nice to just be an average human instead of a superhero tonight.”
“You’re a nurse,” Steve said with a soft smile, leaning into you, causing your heart to skip a beat. “Pretty sure you’re a superhero all the time.”
“Daddy, can Eli come to our house this weekend? Please? He really wants to meet Miles.”
“Miles?” you asked.
“It’s his dog!” Eli told you excitedly. “He wears capes too! Jeremiah said he can be my sidekick, Robin.”
"Which is silly because that's my Aunt Robin's name," Jeremiah added, "but the cape doesn't fit her so good so she's usually Catwoman because it's a mask and a tail."
Steve laughed, “Sure kid. He can come over. If it’s okay with his mom.”
“Fine with me,” you shrugged. Seeing the joy on your son’s face to get to spend time with his friend was all the reason you needed to readily agree. It definitely did not have to do with having the chance to see his dad again. No. That didn’t factor in at all.
“Okay, well, how about this?” Steve knelt down to his son’s level. “We’ve got baseball practice on Saturday until two. Why don’t we all go get ice cream afterward and then Jeremiah and his mom can come meet Miles afterward?”
“All of us?” you questioned, wondering if you'd heard him correctly.
He rose, head tilting forward, those eyes as warm as a chocolate chip cookie coming right out of the oven, and just as delicious. “Why not? I mean, if you have something else to do…”
“No. No, I don’t. I mean, that would be nice. We haven’t gotten ice cream yet since they opened. And I love dogs. Who doesn’t love dogs? Crazy people, right? So obviously meeting your dog would be fun. I just…I mean…yeah, okay.”
He appeared amused with you once again and you wished you could just pull the foot out of your mouth. It appeared to be permanently wedged there whenever he was around.
“Good. Maybe we can even have a sleepover.” Your breath caught as his mouth dropped open, eyes going wide, one of those hands running nervously through his hair, sweeping it to the side. “I mean the boys. The boys could have a sleepover. At my house. If you’re okay with that?”
Had he meant what you thought he meant? Had that just been an innocent mistake or was he as attracted to you as you were to him? Trying to let your son hang out with his friend was proving to be far more complicated than you thought it would be when you'd approached him on the baseball field.
“Yeah.” You weren't sure why. You hadn’t even let Eli stay the night anywhere before but there was just something about Steve that you trusted. “Eli would love that, honestly.”
“You’re gonna sleep at my house!” Jeremiah yelled, grabbing Eli’s hands, the two boys jumping around the kitchen.
“Obviously, they’re both okay with it,” Steve chuckled, stuffing his hands into the pockets of his trousers. “So, we’ll see you Saturday at practice?”
“Yeah. Saturday.”
You said your goodbyes, the boys both still screeching, talking about how it was only two more sleeps until their sleepover. Steve gave you one last smile and a little finger wave before turning and taking his son’s hand, leading him to his Ford Explorer that was parked just behind your Prius.
“Mommy, are you and Jeremiah’s dad friends now too?”
“Kind of, I guess,” you shrugged.
“Cool because if you’re friends and want to play with each other all the time then me and Eli can play with each other all the time too!”
You gripped the door, closing it slowly behind you. Your son had no idea the implications of what he’d just said but you definitely did. Your entire body was vibrating with the implications of what he’d just said.
___________________________________________________________
“Daddy, when Eli spends the night can we make a fort like the one we made that one time where it was the whole living room? Remember? And we put up the Christmas lights inside and we put in our sleeping bags and pillows.”
Steve blinked, glancing up at his son in the rearview mirror. He’d completely missed everything that his kid had just said. The boy had been rambling from the moment they’d gotten in the car and he was having trouble focusing, his thoughts completely focused on the last hour of his day.
You had been consuming all of his brain space since you'd approached him yesterday on the baseball field. Yeah, you were gorgeous. He’d noticed that instantly. Who wouldn’t? But there was something else about you, something that wouldn’t let his brain rest, something that kept poking at him, telling him to do something about these feelings you were stirring up inside him.
And it had been so long since he’d had anything stirring inside of him. After him and Nancy had split four years ago, Steve had jumped right into another relationship. He struggled with being alone. According to Robin, it was his dysfunctional childhood. The little boy inside of him who never got the love he needed from his parents, constantly seeking it out in someone else.
According to Robin, that was why he’d married Nancy even though the two of them had been all wrong for each other. He clung to the first solid thing that had come along and refused to see any of the millions of little signs that it wasn’t working. Of course, that was according to Robin, his best friend who thought she knew more about the internal workings of his mind than he did.
He’d dated Stacy for a year, convinced himself that she was the one, told Robin he was thinking of proposing and his obnoxious friend had slapped him upside the head. To be fair, he probably needed a good jarring, something to knock some sense into him. Marrying Stacy would have led to him being twice divorced. She had been even worse for him than Nancy.
Not that there was anything wrong with Nance. No, she was amazing. She was smart, beautiful, kind, and an absolutely wonderful mother. Neither of them had ever cheated or hurt the other. They simply just weren’t a good fit. It seemed so obvious now when he could see how well her and Jonathan slid together, like two puzzle pieces locking into place perfectly.
He’d dated a few other women after Stacy, most recently Janet, a single mother that he met at the park last summer. They’d made it about four months before he saw it was going nowhere. She was clingy, pushing for them to move in together, and it was in that moment that he realized he could not see a future with her. The idea of waking up next to her every day was exhausting. He’d ended it and she had not taken it well, calling him every name in the book, very loudly, in the middle of the restaurant he’d taken her to to try to soften the blow.
Steve didn’t lack for options. It felt like the moms of this town were throwing themselves at him constantly, some of them not even single. But none of them fit. None of them made him feel that thing, that thing that Robin said was like the Big Bang, everything exploding and then rearranging into this perfect arrangement. She kept telling him it was called falling in love, not forcing in love. He needed to stop trying to make it happen and just let it come to him. Yeah, well, that was easy for her to see, the girl who’d found the right person in high school.
Was that what he was doing right now? Was he just trying to force something to be what he wanted? Your kids were friends. You'd approached him because you wanted to set up a time for your sons to be able to play. It could be that simple. You might not even be interested in him or in anything.
He knew your husband had died. Jere had told him that Eli’s dad was in heaven. But he didn’t know how and he didn’t know how long ago. Maybe you were still freshly grieving. You'd definitely struggled when you were talking about him tonight. If you were still in the midst of your grief, the last thing you needed was some guy trying to push you to go out with him sometime.
No, he probably needed to just take a step back. Cool it off. Yeah, you were beautiful and you seemed far more real than most of the women in this town who were interested in him. But if he tried to force something that wasn’t there, he wouldn’t be the only one to suffer. Jere would too because he would inevitably lose his best friend when things went south. He couldn’t do that to him.
“Daddy, are you even listening to me?” Jeremiah huffed from the backseat, breaking through Steve’s thoughts.
“I’m sorry buddy. What did you say?”
“I said can we make a big fort when Eli comes with the lights and our sleeping bags and stuff?”
“Oh yeah. Of course, bud. We can definitely do that. You want to make some s’mores too?”
“Yeah! And can we have popcorn and watch the new Scooby Doo movie too?”
“Absolutely!” Steve replied, grinning in the mirror. “And I can grill some hamburgers and hot dogs. We’ll make it the best sleepover ever, kid.”
His son’s smile stretched from ear to ear, reminding Steve why he very much needed to focus on his son’s happiness instead of his loneliness. No, he didn’t need to jump into another relationship with some woman he’d just met. He was just seeing things he wanted to see, trying to rearrange the pieces into the image he was so desperate for.
“Is Eli's mommy gonna sleepover too? Our fort will be big enough.”
“Uh, no buddy,” Steve answered. “She’s gonna come over and see Miles but she’s not staying.”
“Why not? Don’t you want a friend, daddy?”
Yeah, he did. More than his son could possibly know.

⭐ Zhongli
To be frank, Zhongli is no stranger to the end of relationships.
Having lived through several millennia, Zhongli has watched many friends, enemies, and lovers come and go.
The moment he met you, he already knew you would someday be the same–such is the nature of mortality.
No matter how much he loved you, you would one day become yet another bittersweet memory–the type that makes his chest ache in the latest hours of the night while the rest of the harbor is sleeping.
Zhongli knew your departure from his life was inevitable…
But he didn’t expect to have to say goodbye so soon–let alone voluntarily.
“I love you, Zhongli. I really do but… we’re just too different. A former archon and a human just weren’t meant to be together. I’m sorry.”
Words he had never dreamed of fall from your lips easily. You had rehearsed it for a while.
He is internally distraught - his chest aches in a way he is not quite familiar with and, for once, he does not know what to say.
He politely lets you leave - says that he understands and expresses his desire to remain amicable if you will allow it but will keep his distance if that is what you prefer.
He will always be available to share some advice over a cup of tea or osmanthus wine if you should ever need it. The unwritten contract between the of you – the favor and support of a former archon – is unconditional.
You may find yourself shocked at how easily he lets you go –whether or not you are pleased by it depends on the nature of your true feelings.
Zhongli’s warm smiles and calming words will always remain, albeit now polite rather than intimate.
Outsiders who were unfamiliar with the nature of your previous relationship will not even notice the difference.
It is only a select few - Xiao, a few other adepti, and perhaps the funeral director – who see how the once smoldering embers in Zhongli’s steady gaze have been smothered.
It is only in the darkest hours of night, alone in his study, that Zhongli allows himself to wonder if his divinity is a blessing or a curse.
“It is unfortunate that our journey together must come to an end so soon. I have very much enjoyed our time together and appreciated the honor of witnessing your glory so closely. I will not burden you with my presence but… if you should ever need my assistance or desire my companionship, it is always yours.”
⭐ Xiao
Never in a thousand years would Xiao have imagined he would have someone to call his own.
After centuries of abuse–both inflicted upon him and from him - Xiao had sworn to never put himself in a position that vulnerable again. He will never let someone get close enough to hurt him or be hurt.
Nevertheless, you appeared in his life and shattered every expectation he had ever set.
Through sheer persistence, you smashed your way through his every wall and stole his heart as your own.
You had created an inseverable bond between you two…
...but now you wanted to sever it.
“I don’t think we can be together anymore, Xiao. You have a duty to protect Liyue and that is your top priority. You are tethered to this place. But I want to explore new places… and new people. I’m sorry, Xiao.”
His first reaction is anger, the type that flashed white hot in his gut and burns through his veins.
He did not seek you out – you were the one who forced your way into his life.
No matter how often he rejected you, how much he tried to avoid you, you had repeatedly interjected your way into his routine, bringing him plates of almond tofu and sharing stories of you adventure he had never asked about.
You created the habit for him. You made him expect your presence every day. You gave him new experiences and made him feel things he never knew possible. You made him love you in ways he had never imagined himself capable of–
–only to rip it all away.
He should have known he was not good enough - he was always just a weapon, a tool, wasn’t he? It is only natural that you would use him too–and that he would one day become useless.
He leaves without a word.
For you, it is almost as if you had imagined his whole existence.
He no longer waits for you atop Wangshu Inn. You no longer feel the sense of someone watching–protecting–you while you take commissions around Liyue.
The only indication you have that you had not dreamt the whole thing is the occasional story random citizens, claiming to have been saved from a lawachurl by a ghost with yellow eyes.
You think Xiao has forgotten your entire existence. He disappears from your life so easily.
But to Xiao, it is not easy at all.
His every thought is plagued by you to the point he wonders if you placed a curse upon him.
While the memory of you once eased his karmic debt, now it only seems to fuel it.
The voices taunt him, remind him of how worthless he is, even to his own lover.
You’re only a weapon of destruction – of course no one would want to be with you. You could never make anyone happy. You can only bring pain.
He suffers alone, brushing off the concern of the other adepti and even Zhongli when his karmic debt seems to get worse, his breakdowns more frequent and more intense than ever before/
It is only when you call his name - whether because you miss him or because you are in danger, than he will allow himself to see you again.
But even as he stands before you, he will not make eye contact.
Not because he does not want to see you but because he does not trust himself to act reasonably if he does.
“Even if the… nature of our relationship has changed, our bond still remains… what I mean is, if you are ever in danger, you should still call my name. I will always protect you...”
⭐ Tighnari
Um… this dude mates for life, how could you do this to him???
Similar to Xiao, he initially just gets kind of angry.
He told you how serious this is for him, how much relationships mean to fennec foxes.
He had asked you over and over again if you were sure before making your relationship official and you had assured him that you were. You said forever.
You had known each other for years before - you knew his personality and his habits. You knew being a forest watcher was his top priority and how long he spent on patrols - nothing has changed so why are your feelings changing?
“I’m sorry, Tighnari, I just… I don’t think I can live like this forever. Working in the forest together was a fun way to pass time but I don’t want to do it anymore. I don’t want to be with you anymore.“
He tries to talk it through - he wants to be logical and compromise with you. He asks you to set boundaries and be specific about your needs so that he has the chance to try to meet them - he will do anything to make this work, you just need to tell him what you need.
But you insist there’s nothing he can do, and without a proper explanation, you leave him behind.
It is easy to fall back into old routines and habits. Even if his lover is gone, the forest never rests.
He goes back to his patrols and reports and lectures – everything is the same as before yet it all feels completely wrong.
The days he used to look forward to – eagerly learning more about the forest he loved and sharing his findings with other curious minds – now feel like little more than a waste of time.
His passion is gone, the once burning desires now doused and his mind is only plagued with memories of you.
Quiet moments late at night in his tent are the worst.
His bed feels uncharacteristically cold and empty without you in it. The calm night is much too quiet when your voice is not there to hum a tune you heard at the market.
“You’re being incredibly selfish right now – our relationship may be just a way to pass time for you but for me – it's all or nothing. There was no one before you and there will be no one after you. We made a commitment to each other and we need to stick it out. So tell me exactly what the problem is so we can work on it and fix it. Together. We have a whole lifetime to figure this out so don’t just give up on us so easily.”
⭐ Scaramouche
You have to be insane to leave this man - and not just ‘cause he is hot.
If you made it far enough for Scaramouche to let you into his heart, you already know his past. You know what has happened to him and how he feels about people leaving.
There is absolutely no way this will go well for either of you.
Once his heart is broken his immediate response is vengeance and retaliation.
If you think you are leaving him behind – betraying him like everyone else in his life – you have got another think coming.
“I’m serious, scaramouche. I don’t want this anymore. We’re just not meant for each other.”
“Ha– you think you have a choice? I must not have made myself clear – you are mine and you are not going anywhere without me.”
lol oops I made it yandere
While much less openly accommodating as Tighnari, Scaramouche is still willing to listen to your complaints and try to find a solution.
Although he’s possessive and a bit blinded by his own feelings, Scaramouche truly does love you and will do anything he can to make you happy–but only if you are happy with him.
If you physically leave, he will follow you. If you try to find someone else, he is not above getting rid of them.
Once you enter a relationship with Scaramouch, for as long as the two of you are alive, you will be with each other.
“Do you finally understand? Good. Taking care of those mortal men you wanted to hang around with was starting to become tedious."

People can hurt...
Words: 675
Summary: Tara comfort her childhood friend from a break up..
Warnings: bad writing, the use of y/n, Tara may or may not have feelings for reader, i think that's all
Tumblr media
Tara and Y/n had been best friends since middle school. They met in homeroom on the first day of seventh grade, and from that moment on, they were inseparable. They sat next to each other in every class, shared lunches, and even went to each other's houses after school.
Y/n was always drawn to Tara's confident demeanor and laid-back attitude. She admired how Tara never seemed to care what other people thought of her, and she found herself wanting to be just like her. On the other hand, Tara loved Y/n's kindness and empathy. She knew that Y/n would always be there for her, no matter what.
Now they’re in college and y/n is in tears in Tara's arms, explaining how exhausted she felt in her relationship with her ex-girlfriend, Tara could see the pain etched onto her friend's face. She held Y/n close, feeling her heart break for her best friend.
"It's not your fault," Tara said softly, stroking Y/n's hair as she held her. "Depression is a complicated illness… it's not something you can just overcome by being happy or supportive."
Y/n sobbed even harder at Tara's words, feeling guilty for blaming her ex's mental illness on the reason their relationship ended. She knew that it wasn't her fault, but she still felt like an idiot for thinking that she was the one who could change her ex-girlfriend.
"Please… make the pain stop," Y/n begged Tara, tears streaming down her face. "I just want it to all go away…"
Tara held Y/n even closer, feeling her friend's body shake with sobs. She knew that the pain of a broken heart was deep and raw, but she also knew that she would do anything to help ease Y/n's suffering.
"Shhh… you don't have to bear this pain alone," Tara said softly, gently rocking Y/n in her arms.
The night wore on, and as the hours passed, Y/n's crying slowly began to fade. Exhausted from all the sobbing, she finally drifted off to sleep in Tara's arms.
Tara held her friend close, feeling a wave of gratitude wash over her. She knew that she could never fully understand what Y/n was going through, but she also knew that she would do anything to help her best friend heal.
As Y/n slept peacefully in her arms, Tara whispered softly into her ear, "I love you… and I'll always be here for you." And with those words, she quietly watched over Y/n as she slept, making sure that her friend felt safe and loved. Even in the darkest of times, Tara knew that they would always find their way back to each other. And for now, that was all that mattered.
The next day..
The following morning, Tara found Y/n curled up on her couch, still wearing the same clothes from the night before. Her eyes were puffy from crying, and there was a lingering sadness in her usually bright and cheerful demeanor.
"Hey," Tara said softly, sitting down next to Y/n and putting an arm around her shoulders. "How are you feeling?"
Y/n let out a small sigh, leaning into Tara's embrace. "I… I don't know, Tara," she replied, her voice trembling with emotion. "Everything just seems so overwhelming… I miss her, but at the same time, I hate how she made me feel like shit all the time. And now… I just feel so stupid for thinking that I could make her happy."
Tara squeezed Y/n's shoulder gently, trying to offer some comfort. "You know what, Y/n?" she said softly. "It takes a lot of courage to admit when something isn't right… and you're right to feel hurt. No one should make you feel bad about yourself, especially not someone who claims to love you."
Y/n sniffled, wiping away a stray tear. "Thanks, Tara," she murmured, leaning her head against Tara's chest. "You always know what to say to make me feel better."

Futuer Leo with apprentice reader?
like reader was made his apprentice alongside Casey Jr and people keep comparing the two, how Casey was more mature, how he was stronger physically and emotionally
thankss
I warned y’all, i warned ya it was coming
(shout out to @yanteetle who makes me chuckle every time they react with my angst posts)
summary: Reader just wants to make him proud
TW: death, in detail character death, meaning the POV is dying, murder, reader runs away, reader has a breakdown, the dove is dead. why? cause I killed it, reader just wants to make him proud :(
It Was Not Your Fault But Mine
Tumblr media
When Leonardo became the leader of the resistance he expected many things, war? mhm, death? absolutely. it came with the territory. being placed in charge of two preteens, to train them to be able to live in this brutal world? no, he was never expecting you to become his apprentice. He trained you both, but…he couldn’t help but see himself in you. the self he hated. his past, a cocky teenager that thought his older brother would carry everything for him.
You couldn’t help but resent Casey. Why did he get special treatment? You two were on the same patrol where you watched half the patrol get wiped out…and yet, you listened to your mentor, Leonardo, comfort Casey… why didn’t he also comfort you? His gruff voice broke through your thoughts “ You're okay, You're alright. I'll never, ever leave your side- “ you gripped your elbows as your buried your head in your knees “ -I will stay and I will fight. “ his humming filled the space he and Casey were sharing, you weren’t even supposed to be here “ With you, you're okay, you're alright. I'll stay here through the darkest night. All the way, I will fight….with you “ when you heard Leonardo start to leave the space, you quickly left the surrounding area. collapsing onto the floor and sighing, nothing but harsh memories being your company.
Tumblr media
When you and Casey were allowed out on serious patrols, you were exploring a apartment building. You entered one door and recoiled at the dead person in the room, you backed up and knocked over a pot which caught the attention of a kraang dog nearby…which alterted its friends… which had them chasing after you and Casey. You both narrowly avoided them by closing yourselves in a apartment, you sheepishly grinned at Casey and he looked down at you with a unimpressed face. You two had waited two hours before Leonardo and a patrol could rescue you two, when he found out what happened…he sighed and walked off. You and Casey followed him back, being able to tell he was going to yell at you two when you got back. You dreaded it, you always ended up crying when Leonardo shouted at you, or, whenever anyone shouted at you.
You sniffled in your room, you didn’t miss how Leonardo’s frame was exhausted looking. He walked past your area and into Casey’s room. You suddenly shot up. “ I’ll make him proud of me. I’ll- I’ll do something impactful. I’ll bring back so much material that he can’t help but notice me! “ pushing out your room, grabbing a bottle of water and a nutrition bar, you left the resistance camp behind. Your eyes hard as you held your weapon tightly. You were going to force him to see you.
Tumblr media
It was a horrible mistake. You were doing so good! Being stealthy! but a building crashed over top you, leaving a metal beam through your leg. You collar bones were broken as your weak arms tried to push off the large slab of concrete. realizing you couldn’t…tears started rolling down your face. you didn’t want to die alone…you didn’t want to die here. In the darkness your only companion was your emergency button, it’s blue color that it glowed was illuminating your face. You felt like a old dog, a dog that stopped being useful to your farmer. You whimpered and cried, whispering a small lullaby to yourself “ You're okay, You're alright. I'll never, ever leave your side- “ you gripped the concrete slab as you buried your head in the sand like floor behind you “ -I will stay and I will fight…. “ your humming filled the space, you weren’t even supposed to be here… “ With you, you're okay, you're alright. I'll stay here through the darkest night.- “ your sob echoed through the rubble “ -All the way, I will fight….with you… “ your body started hyperventilating to the best of its ability, the concrete slab feeling so..so heavy. You didn’t want to die alone with your thigh pinned down by a metal bar, by concrete holding down your chest…you wanted your mentor…you wanted…you…
Leonardo’s patrol finally got through the rubble, his hands scrapped and bleeding as he found you, a wail escaping him as he rushed forwards. Pushing the concrete slab you so clearly tried to push off, your scrapped and bleeding hands being a painful reminder how you both struggled with the rubble. He leaned his head down and sobbed when your chest never thudded with a heart beat. He pushed the hair out of your face so carefully and took in your tear streaked cheeks, still damp. Some may say that your death was your own fault. That you should’ve never left because you were jealous. But it was not your fault but his instead. He neglected you and he’ll defend your death and your name, and everything you stood for with his life, because he failed you, like he failed his brothers, like he failed New York…like he failed the world. He’s Icarus and he flew way too close to the sun.

wildest dreams | finnick odair x reader
summary: you and finnick promise to stay by each other's side, even as you're pulled into the quarter quell.
w/c: 2.3k
Tumblr media
.・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
he said, "let's get out of this town drive out of the city, away from the crowds" i thought, "heaven can't help me now" nothing lasts forever but this is gonna take me down
“i don’t know what to do,” you whispered, eyes unfocused as you worked your way through the initial shock after the quarter quell announcement. “finnick, i don’t think i can make this one- i don’t think i can make this work.”
finnick said nothing. there wasn’t much to say anyway. in his (and your) darkest moments, you’d always been the optimistic one; you’d pulled finnick from rock bottom on numerous occasions, always promising that “i’ll make it work.” hearing you so despondent stripped finnick of any remaining hope.
“there’s- there’s-” finnick choked. “there’s mags and- and annie. we can make it work. this is going to work.” both of you knew finnick’s words were useless.
you sniffed loudly and collected yourself, slipping your hand under finnick’s chin so you could tilt his head up to meet your gaze. “don’t say that, finnick. we just have to- this is happening. mags is so old, finn.” your lower lip wobbled. “we both know she wouldn’t last a day. and annie’s not- she wouldn’t make it either. and every day she’d spend in the arena would be excruciating for her, mentally—you know i couldn’t-”
finnick cut you off. “well, maybe you’re a better person than me, because i can’t—i won’t—let you go in there and die. it’s not happening. please,” he muttered, “i can’t lose you again.”
finnick was referring to the 68th hunger games that you’d won at 17. you had been so close to the cutoff and the odds of living another year were quite literally in your favor. you supposed you’d been born unlucky, seeing as you were living off a buff overlooking the sea that reeked of fish in the summer and froze over in the winter.
finnick had been your mentor. he’d won his games at 14 and was dubbed a capitol prodigy, whereas, at 14, you’d been making money playing maid for the richer side of town; the extra income was necessary if your family wanted to even scrape by.
your father’s presence at home was practically nonexistent; out fishing for the longest hours possible to support you and your siblings’ educations. your oldest brother had dropped out of school to help, and the two of them were insistent that you, your mother, and your younger brother would never have to risk long hours on dangerous waters.
however, they couldn’t stop you from finding other work, and you dedicated nearly all your free time to scrubbing floors until your knees turned red and doing laundry with cracked, dry knuckles. you thought your reaping was a death sentence—your only skill set comprised of household chores and writing lunchbox notes—until you’d met finnick. he’d promised to keep you alive, and you’d promised to come back to him. when you saw him for the first time after being pulled from the arena, you’d kissed him hard. you promised you’d never leave his side.
“you won’t lose me if we’re both in there together, finnick. listen, you know that the only chance someone from four comes back alive is if it’s one of us. i’d rather die by your side than die alone, finn. ‘cause i wouldn’t be able to keep going without you anyway.”
finnick let out a furious roar and buried his face in your shoulder. he was silent for a while, before he mumbled into your neck, “maybe we don’t have to go. we could run away—me and you. get as far away from the capitol as possible; they won’t come looking for two missing people when everyone’s in the middle of preparing for the quell, right? they wouldn’t- fuck, i can’t let you go.” you felt tears press into your skin.
“you know that’s a lie,” you sighed. “there’s no helping it now, finnick. the card’s been read and snow’s made up his mind and there’s rebellion brewing and we can’t… we can’t run, even if we wanted to. b-but our families too, and our friends, and what about our future? running away is a death sentence. at least in the arena, there’s a chance that one of us could survive.”
finnick pulled himself from your shoulder reluctantly. his eyes were bloodshot and beginning to puff. “i promised i’d never leave you, didn’t i? and i’m not-” he croaked, “i don’t break promises. i swear to you, i’ll be with you forever.”
your lips pulled into a frown. “nothing lasts forever.”
he’s so tall and handsome as hell he’s so bad but he does it so well i can see the end as it begins my one condition is:
ceaser flickerman’s purple theme this year was throwing you off. he was wearing a rich, velvet suit—royal purple, you think—but sported soft, lavender tresses that reminded you of the bouquets your father would bring home for your parents’ anniversaries.
the energy of the audience was noticeably different; wary, even. it seemed like each tribute had come up with a similar idea of subtly snubbing the capitol’s choice, by spinning gut-wrenching stories, wielding their capitol favorite status, or cursing everything out entirely (that was only johanna, though). the audience ate it up.
finnick was a natural on stage; he’d always been. he’d spent the past decade at the capitol, acting, acting, acting. sometimes it was unnerving how easily he could flit between personas.
“so,” caesar leaned in, raising his eyebrows theatrically, “i hear you’ve got a message prepared for a special someone.”
finnick pursed his lips, hiding a bittersweet smile. you hadn’t been aware he was there to recite any ‘message’ and you prayed it wouldn’t make you cry on live broadcast in front of all panem.
“my love, you have my heart for all eternity. and if…” finnick’s voice wavered. “and if i die in that arena, my last thought would be of your lips.”
you noticed how he skirted around saying the word ‘forever.’
the women in the audience swooned, and caesar made some comment about how finnick absolutely needed to win the games so he could come back and reveal his mysterious sweetheart. he droned on—something about weddings, capitol favorites, power couples, and the normal buzzwords that would spike ratings.
“ahh, your fans must be devastated knowing that your heart has been captured,” caesar teased.
finnick smiled back politely. “well, my heart’s only ever belonged to her.”
you clenched your teeth, knowing finnick had just thrown his entire ‘venture’ with the capitol residents out the window. you couldn’t imagine what twisted repercussions snow would inflict upon him.
“oh, he’s bad! he’s a bad one!” caesar laughed, slapping his hand on his thigh. “now, we’ll let the audience speculate for a bit. thank you for your time!”
finnick didn’t spare you a glance before sitting with the other victors, which you were grateful for. you presumed he was crying, and you were also on the verge of tears.
“it’s our favorite girl, back in the chair!” caesar waved you into the armchair beside him with delight. “now, it’s been a few years since we’ve last seen you. i’m sure we’re all dying to hear what you’ve been up to.”
you weren’t sure if caesar had meant to make a pun about death, but you presumed not. it could jeopardize ratings, though you wouldn’t put it past any capitol citizen to joke about murder in their spare time. the hunger games was their entertainment, after all.
“honestly? i’ve mostly been missing the fruit jellies here. i’ve been spending most of my time back ho- in district four, but i’m so glad to be home.”
caesar placed his hand over his heart and pretended to swoon. “did you hear that?” he cupped his ear towards the audience. “home!” he turned back to you. “we’re truly honored, my dear.
“now, i just have to know, is there anybody special watching this right now?”
you began to shake your head, but caesar caught the movement. he put his hand up. “ah-ah-ah,” he tutted. “you are quite a favorite amongst the crowd, isn’t that right?” he bounced jovially on his seat upon hearing excited cheers. “yes, and i’d imagine there’s quite a line up of admirers?”
“well,” you dragged, much to the suspense of the viewers. “there is somebody in my life at the moment. we’ve kept things private for now, though i suppose there’s no point in that since i’m returning to the arena. i just wished that… well, for the 68th games, i promised him i’d come back to him. and we’ve been very much in love since then.”
you didn’t have to fake tears for the sake of a sob-story performance. these were real. “i didn’t think i could ever find a love like his. i thought my time as a tribute was over, you know? that was the only reason why i promised i’d stay by his side forever. but now… i’m breaking that promise because i’m going back in the arena. we’re all breaking so many promises.”
you didn’t need to say it outright, but the tributes and a good majority of the audience caught on quickly. your words were double-edged—many of the tributes wouldn’t be returning home to their families if they had one, but that the capitol had broken its promise too. there was tense bubbles of conversation arising from the audience members.
caesar quickly diverted the subject. “it sounds like both our district four tributes have secret sweethearts! perhaps we’ll be lucky enough to see one of these happy couples unite. and… that is all we have on time! it was a pleasure, as always.”
when you sat next to finnick, his eyes darted across your face incredulously. “why would you say that?” he mouthed, eyes wide.
“it doesn’t matter at this point, does it? we might as well let everyone know. the star-crossed lovers act seems to be working out for 12, even if they’re overplaying it. but i don’t care. if i’m going in there to die, i’m not going to spend my last days hiding my love for you.”
finnick’s eyebrows furrowed. hesitantly, he reached his hand out from where it rested on his lap and leaned over to grasp yours. the gesture was small but intimate, and you watched as the camera split screen to zoom in on your intertwined fingers as it continued to run the interview.
“forever. even if it means dying by your side, i promised you i’d stay by you forever. and i never break a promise.”
say you’ll remember me standing in a nice dress staring at the sunset, babe red lips and rosy cheeks say you’ll see me again even if it’s just in your wildest dreams
the area, as expected, was a shitshow. dealing with katniss and peeta’s dramatics during the day was enough (you had to cut them some slack, though; they were only teenagers), but quiet evenings on watch were truly the worst. you hadn’t gotten a minute alone with finnick since the games started. there was so much that needed to be said, but you couldn’t. not when you’d sworn to protect the mockingjay; even the tiniest slip of the tongue could compromise your mission.
“finnick and i can take watch for tonight,” you suggested. katniss eyed you suspiciously. “seriously, peeta needs to rest—no objections, blondie—and you’ve got… the baby to think about. so let finnick and i handle this. please.”
there was a silent exchange as katniss’ eyes flickered over to finnick’s, which were deep with mourning at the loss of his mentor, mags. katniss nodded and began settling in for the night.
you and finnick sat in silence for a while, listening to the odd chirp and hum of whatever horrifying mutations the capitol had concocted for the quarter quell. you dug your fingers into the dirt, uprooting blades of grass and little weeds. you admired the way the moist earth of the jungle clung beneath your fingernails and stained the pads of your hands dark brown. it was a nice contrast against the nail polish that refused to chip away.
“finnick?” you whispered, continuing to look downward. finnick hummed in acknowledgment. “i don’t- i don’t want this to be the last thing you remember about me.”
finnick wrapped a heavy hand around the back of your head to pull you close. the two of you knew there were most likely cameras hidden around, so he tucked your faces together until you were touching foreheads. he brought his hands up to caress your cheeks, simultaneously covering your lips from the cameras and giving you some semblance of a private conversation.
“don’t talk like that. we- you’re going to make it out of here,” finnick murmured. you knew he was talking about the district 13 hovercraft, though he couldn’t say it outright. “and these fucking games don’t mean anything to me. you’re so much more than that. you’re the only place that i feel safe; like i’m away from the games.
“and i promise you, i really promise, that i’ll always love you. not because of how you’ve helped me through the games, or because of the games at all, but because i love you. you’re my sunshine. you’re the one good thing in my life. and it’s like i know you’ll always be there, just like i know that the sun will always rise. and even when the sun sets, i know i’ll see you again in the morning.”
you laughed breathlessly, rubbing your nose against his. “you’re such a fucking sap, finn.” you pressed a sweet kiss to his lips. “i love you.”
finnick pushed you away comedically and just like that, it was back to camera-friendly banter. “eugh, you smell like tar.”
“yeah? well you- you look like you’re decomposing! so there.” you giggled at finnick’s twisted face as he pretended to be insulted.
“but you said i’m your pretty boy,” he pouted.
“in your dreams, finnick,” you snored. “only in your wildest dreams.”

Ruben Dias x Reader - I Cry
This one is sad 😔
And this will be the last fic of my own before I write requests again.
Tumblr media
Reader tries to hide her post pregnancy depression from Ruben.
Enjoy!
Everybody was so happy, smiling faces all around. They were passing around the baby, kissing it's head like it was baby Jesus himself. All you could feel was darkness. A darkness so deep that you wanted to put a knife to your wrist and go down with it.
This was the first time Ruben's side of the family saw the baby. His aunties and uncles almost got into a fight over what it's name should be, since you and Ruben had yet decided. What's the point, you thought. What's the point of giving the baby it's  name now when it wouldn't respond to it until three years time?
"What's the matter?"
"What do you mean?"
At some point of the night you caught Ruben's eye. Perhaps it had been the way your gaze stared blankly into space whilst everyone around you sparkled with joy. Ruben had nudged his head towards the door, wanting for the two of you to go outside and grab some air.
"You're doing that thing again." He said.
"What thing?" You frowned, however, you knew exactly what thing Ruben was referring to you doing.
"It's like your not hear, with us." He said.
You could hear the pain in his voice. The pain that the darkness within you was causing him.
"I wish you would talk to me." He mumbled. "Tell me how to fix it, fix you."
"You can't." You said, tears sliding down your cheeks.
Ruben turned to look at you but you moved away, hiding your face.
"I want to try." He said, desperation in his voice.
You shook your head. "You'll hate me if I told you the truth."
"Why would I hate you?" Once again he attempted to touch you. This time you let him and he hugged you from behind, wrapping his arms tightly around your waist. "Please Y/N, tell me somthing I can do to make you happy again?"
"Get rid of it."
"What?"
Your voice was so weak he was almost unable to catch what you said.
"Get rid of what Y/N? What do you want me to get rid of? Anything, I'll do it."
He was desperate to have the old you back. The one that smiled with the sunrise and laughed at noon. The version of you he fell in love with.
"The baby." You said, voice quiet.
Ruben's grip around your waist loosened.
"Y/N." He said, voice stuffed and unrecognizable. "You don't mean that."
You raised your head to look at him. "I do, Ruben."
He stumbled backwards, almost tripping himself on the threshold of the poarch. "B..but, why?"
He couldn't understand it. But who had ever understood depression?
"Because she will hate me Ruben." The tears flooded down your cheeks, burning your skin. "I'm not good enough for her. I won't be able to love her like I should, to take care of her as I should."
You closed your eyes as Rubens tight embrace smothered your whole being, shielding you beneath his strong arms.
"Don't say that." He whispered, collecting you in his arms. "You're not in this alone, you're with me, remember?"
There was a sense of relief, a relief that he was there, holding you in a time where you weren't sure if your legs could hold you up anymore.
"I'm here, please tell me that you know I'm here."
His arms trembled around your body.
"I know you're here." You whispered and suddenly the trembling stopped.
Ruben brought you arms length, his hands cradling your face.
"I'm here for you, always." His hands dried your tears.
"I know, I know." You muttered, a sensation of guilt overwhelming you. How could you tell him such a thing? To get rid of the baby. Ruben was never going to look at you the same after hearing such a dark request leave your mouth.
"Look at me." He said, raising your fallen chin with his hand.
"We'll get through this, together."
You nodded. "Together."
He bent down to kiss you, your wet cheeks cold against his nose. Ruben didn’t budge, instead his arms pulled you closer, pressing your body against his, showing you that even in your darkest hour he would always want you the same.

Guess when he'll start to feel like he randomly wants to smother you with attention
Spoiler, everyday
I mean come on, he's been living on top of a mountain for more than a hundred years, ALONE?
Obviously that means that whenever he's with you, it's like an extreme dopamine rush and just constantly making him feel like he's fallen in love again
If you're dating; he's so shamless
Tugs you closer with his tail, randomly clings onto your back in a hug and never lets you go, shoving his head into your lap for head scraches
Will literally whine if you don't give him attention
Started acting so dramatic when you pushed him off your lap cause you needed to work
"(Name) pushed me off! My heart is shattering into a thousand pieces! I will never recover from such a cruel and evil betrayal!"
"We've been sitting here for 3 hours"
"Your point?"
If he's crushing on you: yeah no nothing changes
He's still so shameless
One time you said that you liked how fluffy his fur was
The next day he won't stop rubbing all over you like a cat so you can "feel" it
You're always finding yourself holding his hand without knowing cause the sneaky bastard decided to do it when you were distracted
Give this man a leash, please

He doesn't get relatively clingy
Cause he thinks too cool for affection >:(
But there are times where he needs comfort the most
Probably because of his past traumas and literally his death flashing through his very eyes
Poor baby just wants to feel your hands wrapped around his body man :((
Very subtle about his needs
You have to read between his words and actions to understand
If you see him get all touchy towards you or just never leaving your side, that's a sign
Will literally melt just by feeling your hands
Leans in closing your your palm and holds it with his hand while just staring at you with the most love struck eyes ever
Moments like those really resemble how much he trusts you so much
So willing to even show his deepest and darkest vulnerabilities just to be closer to you
Much more softer and more honest when he's like this
You normally lay in bed at the middle of the night and talk about random things, from his new story for his shadow theater to you just sharing your hobbies
Legs tangled with each other, hands deep inside his fluffy hair, his head burying himself closer to your chest
But then he wakes you up by splashing cold water on your face

Clingy isn't a word to describe him, more like helpless
Whenever he's feeling "clingy" it's mostly when some things been pissing him off as usual and he just wants to lay on your chest
Your back leaning against the bed frame with your angry boyfriend wrapping his arms around you and ranging about how shitty his day has been
"And then he hit me, TWICE >:(("
"Awe, that's too bad :((" *pets hair*
Once you got your arms around him, he will never let go
But entirely denies it whenever you bring it up
Even if you tease him, he won't budge
Sure he'll get flustered and the usual bantering between words are flown off to you, but he's still not letting you go
Heck, even burying his face deeper into your chest while he grumbles on how annoying you are
You could pretty much feel his smile grow when you start cooing at him on how adorable he is as pet his head, downbad for you
If he's crushing on you; the day he becomes clingy is the day he'll stop calling MK "noodle boy"
But, subtle actions such as lingering in your presence and just staring at you from afar is just him begging you to touch him
His hair, his shoulders, gosh please touch his face
But when you catch him he literally bursts into flames and just starts speaking gibberish
Haha, simp
