You are in love with Sirius Black, and Sirius Black is in love with Dahlia Bellemore. Now, you don’t know this for sure - he’s never admitted it upfront, and he never interacts with her unless they’re working on their Charms project - but there’s no way he isn’t. Dahlia is gorgeous - long wavy blonde hair, sparkly blue eyes, perfect rosy cheeks - there’s no way he hasn’t fallen for her.
You’re Sirius’s best friend, and his best friend only. You’ve known each other since you met in your first year on the Hogwarts Express, and you’ve been inseparable ever since. The only problem is that the constant interaction caused you to fall for your friend, and only deepened his purely platonic view of you.
So now you’re here, sitting in the Gryffindor common room with your three other best friends, waiting for the boy you’re in love with to come back from studying with the girl he’s in love with. Things are just great.
You curl further into yourself on the couch, trying to hone out your thoughts with the words in your book.
“What’s wrong, (Y/N)?” Remus asks, concerned.
You purse your lips. “Nothing.”
“Oh, isn’t it obvious, Moony?” says James with a teasing smirk. “Whiskers misses her boyfriend.”
You scowl. “He isn’t my boyfriend.”
“Oh, certainly. The two of you are just constantly all over each other and get your knickers in a twist every time the other’s away. Totally platonic, though.”
You sigh. “He doesn’t like me like that.”
James bursts out laughing. “Whiskers, what the hell are you talking about? That boy’s been in love with you since first year.”
You open your mouth indignantly, about to retort when Sirius walks in. “Moony, Wormtail, Prongs!” He plops down beside you, putting his arm around your shoulders and kissing your forehead. “And Whiskers, of course.”
James shoots you a pointed look.
You ignore him, cuddling against Sirius’s side. “How’d studying with Dahlia go?”
Sirius scrunches his nose. “Oh, it was a bore. Nothing but school and more school, blah blah blah.”
“That is what studying tends to focus on,” Remus points out.
Sirius grins and winks. “Not the way I like to do it.”
You stiffen. There it is. He wants to have sex with Dahlia. You swallow and stand up. “I’m… gonna go. Little tired, ‘kay?”
Sirius frowns. “What? We haven’t even had dinner yet.”
You bite your lip. “Yeah, I- I know. I’ll- I just need a nap.”
Sirius deflates, but nods. “All- All right. Have a good rest.”
You nod, turning away and heading to your dorm as you wipe tears away from your face.
~
You come to dinner only because you don’t want your friends to worry. You take your usual spot next to Sirius but can’t stomach a bite, too preoccupied with intrusive thoughts of your best friend and Dahlia Bellemore hitting it up in the boys’ dorm.
“C’mon, (Y/N/N), eat something,” Remus urges, eyebrows pulled together in worry.
“It’s okay,” you say, forcing a smile. “I’m just not very hungry.”
“(Y/N).” Sirius grabs your wrist, seeming almost frightened. “Please eat something.”
“I’m sorry,” you whisper, pulling your arm away and running out of the great hall.
You’re on your way to your dorm, tears streaming down your cheeks yet again, when you hear footsteps behind you.
“(Y/N), wait up!” Sirius runs up to you and grabs both your hands. “What’s going on? And don’t say ‘nothing’, cause I know that’s bullshit.”
You try to keep your composure, but your bottom lip won’t stop trembling. “I- I- “ You collapse into his arms, sobbing.
“Hey, hey, talk to me, (Y/N/N), what’s wrong?” His voice is soft as he runs his fingers through your hair soothingly.
“I can’t stand it,” you whisper.
“Can’t stand what? I don’t know what you’re talking about, love.”
You exhale another sob. “Her. I can’t stand the way you talk about her.”
Sirius pulls away, a confused frown on his face. “Her? Who are you talking about?”
You laugh bitterly. “Oh, don’t play dumb, Sirius. Dahlia.”
“Bellemore?” Sirius lets out a confused laugh. “Love, there’s nothing going on between Bellemore and me. To be honest, I really don’t even like her.”
You wipe your eyes, confused. “Wh- what? But I thought…”
“(Y/N), I’m in love with you,” he says, cupping your cheek. “It’s always been you.”
You inhale shakily. “Really?”
He shakes his head, laughing. “What does this tell you?” He leans in and presses his lips to yours, kissing softly and then more passionately, lifting you up in his arms.
“I love you,” you tell him breathlessly when you break apart.
Sirius leans his forehead against yours. “I love you too.”

but turns out just being his dorky, vulnerable, and still (softer) flirty self works like a charm!!
Sirius would totally the most cocky and immature tactics to get you to go out with him. it would be romantic for sure. im picturing the dance number that heath ledger sings in “10 things i hate about you.”

summery: after Sirius gives up on his boastful ways of flirting, you turn the other cheek and notice the popular marauder is sweet and dorky on the inside.

Sirius Black was a charmer. That was for certain. Rumors spread like the plague of his roughish ways. You were not a fan of him, which was unfortunate for you because he was a fan of you. Constantly. Every chance he would get, he would flirt you up in the hallway.
“Hey y/n, what are you doing later?” He would ask you. You replied with, “McGonagall’s transfiguration essay.”
Sirius just smirked and returned with his cocky banter, “That’s a shame, I wish you’d do me instead.” He grinned, James and Peter behind him laughing.
It wasn’t genuine, or at least that’s how you felt. You rolled your eyes and replied with, “You wish, Black. In your dreams.”
You walked away with out seeing or hearing Sirius’ response. It frustrated you to no end that he would joke that way. You wanted to save him the trouble. He was obnoxious and too cocky for your own liking.
You missed when he was sweet and genuine. Not the popular boy that has become a staple at Hogwarts.
Sirius on the other hand, genuinely did want you. But no other tactic had gotten him a date. The rumors were misconstrued and he put on a cocky front. But in reality he was just as shy and dorky as he used to be.
One night after a hogsmeade trip, you were reading in the Gryffindor common room. It was a nice quiet night by the fire place. But all of a sudden, Sirius showed up, sat in an arm chair near you and started playing with wizarding cards.
“Could you keep that down?” You asked him, looking up from your book.
You expected a witty and cocky calculated response, but instead Sirius looked flushed. He ran a hand through this shiny hair and nodded, a little shy.
He gave up on impressing you and being so boastful. What did he have to lose? “Yeah sure, sorry.” He replied.
Sirius’ response continued to surprise you. Where were his annoyingly witty comments and jokes? Why wasn’t he flirting?
“Are you okay?” You asked, now a little confused.
“Yeah I’m fine,” he replied, lookin over at you. In his mind you looked so beautiful sitting by the fire. “Urm—actually I wanted to apologize. For making you so upset. I just think you’re really pretty an all. But I’m taking the hint and I’ll stop.”
He sounded so sweet about it and vulnerable. This was the Sirius you liked. The genuine one.
You smiled softly, “Thank you for the apology Sirius. I appreciate it. But you really think I’m pretty?” You asked.
He nodded, continuing to be sincere in his response. “Yeah, could never take my eyes off you love?” He said. It was straightforward and flirty but absolutely adorable and dorky.
You blushed. Why couldn’t be t he like this all the time?
“I like you like this.” You said, with a small smile. Sirius flushed.
“Y-you-u do?” He asked, a little surprised. This was the first time you’d shown him affection.
“Yeah. I mean when you aren’t being so boastful and cocky around me. I like the genuine you, Sirius.” You said.
With that, he sat up and walked over to the couch. He sat next you and both were facing each other.
“Sooo, I guess what you’re saying is???” He teased. You lightly pushed him and laughed.
“I’m saying if you tried to ask me out in a less boastful way. I would say yes.” You explained, blushing.
Sirius felt like he’d won the jackpot. “Really?! Uh I mean oh that’s cool.” He said, earning another giggle out of you.
“Y/n, will you go out with me?” He asked, sincerely.
You nodded, “Yes Sirius, I will.”

I Was Wrong

"10 points to Slytherin," Professor Slughorn commends proudly after you answer his question correctly.
Smirking, you shoot Sirius Black a smug look and lean back in your seat. If looks could kill, you'd likely be a pile of ashes right now, but luckily his heated glares aren't more than a mild inconvenience.
You were the top of your class in nearly every subject, but Potions was one that Sirius somehow managed to eke his way to the top of. He was a naturally gifted wizard who hadn't always been academically inclined, but not for lack of talent. In his early years at Hogwarts, he hadn't tried very hard in school, instead opting to play quidditch and come up with pranks. Your rivalry was what had pushed him to work harder, and he got a ridiculous amount of satisfaction from beating you in the subject taught by your head of house.
Potions soon comes to an end and you pack your things up quickly, strutting out of the dingy room in a hurry. To your dismay, Sirius catches up quickly and you don't look at him when he starts talking to you. "How does it feel being the second best at your favorite subject?"
Not bothering to slow down, you respond icily, "How does it feel being the second best at everything else?"
He chuckles with mirth, matching your gait with irritating precision. You start to think he may finally stalk off, when he leans in close to your ear and whispers, "Not for long."
~~~
Your final class of the day is History of Magic, one which you have the misfortune of sharing with Sirius again. Adjusting your book bag on your shoulder, you walk into the classroom and take your usual seat at the front. You spot Sirius joking with his friends near the back, and you once again begrudgingly admit to yourself that he would be beautiful if he wasn't so infuriating. The way his soft brown eyes always have a glint of mischief, or how his long, dark hair is always styled perfectly or how—
A bell rings, signaling the beginning of the hour and you are jolted from your thoughts. Sirius takes a seat next to you, and unable to help yourself, you glance over at him. You find him already looking at you, a barely concealed grin on his face. "I hear Binns is assigning essay groups today. Now, should I invite 50 people or 100 people to the party I throw when I ace the essay and get the top score in History of Magic this year?"
Rolling your eyes, you turn back to face the front of the classroom, your hair falling over your shoulder in a silky curtain. "In your dreams, Black."
You would be lying if you said that your little rivalry with Sirius wasn't amusing at times, but it was mostly a way to keep you in check so that you could get out of your parent's house once you passed your N.E.W.T.S. Your friends knew about your disagreement with your family's blood purity morals, but no one outside of Slytherin paid enough attention to see how much your house's reputation displeased you.
Professor Binns eventually starts lecturing about the Goblin Rebellions and you quickly grab your quill and parchment. You try your best to stay focused, but even your interest in history can't keep you engaged with Binns' slow speech and indifference. By the time he starts assigning essay pairings, you are so zoned out that you almost miss it when your name is followed by Sirius Black's.
Your eyes widen with disbelief and you turn to Sirius to see an aghast expression on his face. You open your mouth to say something but Sirius just shakes his head and mutters, "There's no point in fighting Binns. He doesn't care enough to rework the arrangements."
You know he's right, but anger and dread flood your veins at the thought of spending a week working with Sirius fucking Black. You stuff your things into your book bag and stomp past him, taking a moment to gripe, "I can't believe I have to work with a bloody Gryffindor."
You're almost out the door when he shoots back, "It's not like I want to work with blood purist scum!"
Shaking your head, you roll your eyes and keep walking until he is out of earshot. His insults used to hurt your feelings, but you had long since gotten over your insecurities about your family and upbringing. His snipes just served to prove his ignorance about who you really were.
~~~
Sirius is fuming as he storms out of History of Magic. He would rather eat slugs than spend a week with you for the essay, but he knew that arguing with the decision was futile. When he passes through the doorway you just walked through, he smells the faint scent of mint and gardenia. Before he can stop himself, he breathes in deeply, catching the last remnants of your lingering perfume. The regret he feels is immediate and he rubs a hand over his face in contempt.
When he returns to Gryffindor tower, he drops his bag in his dormitory before throwing himself onto the couch in the common room. Remus and James are sitting by the fireplace, working on their own homework when he puts his hand to his forehead and groans loudly.
"What's up with you?" James asks, lifting his head from his parchment.
"Wait, let me finish this line," Remus says, waving his hand as he frantically scribbles down a few words. "Okay, what's going on?"
"Oh, nothing," Sirius sighs dramatically. "Just that I've been partnered up with the worst person in the world."
"Binns put you with Snape?" Remus gasps, only slightly feigning astonishment.
"Nope," Sirius shakes his head, lifting his brows for effect, "worse. He put me with y/n."
The two boys share a look for a moment, before James breaks the silence with a small, "Ah."
Sirius, on the other hand, looks at them incredulously. "Ah? I have been given a death sentence and that's all you lot have to say?"
"You don't think you're being a tad dramatic there?" Remus asks quietly. "She's not as bad as you seem to think she is."
Sirius doesn't seem convinced, so James interjects. "Yeah, Lily really doesn't mind her either, actually. They met at one of Slughorn's parties last year."
"Well then, she must be fantastic at hiding her true colors," Sirius decides, sitting up on the couch. "You all have seen her family's reputation. What they've done to people like you, Moony. She's practically following the same path."
"Pads," Remus says carefully, not wanting his next words to come across the wrong way, "the same could be said for you and your family."
"But I'm a Gryffindor!" he yells, surprising even himself with his emotional outburst. "I chose a different path! I pushed them away! I did that!"
Silence echoes throughout the nearly empty common room and Remus and James know better than to push the subject any further. They slowly return to their work, and Sirius pushes himself off of the couch before taking the stairs two at a time up to the boys dormitories.
~~~
Potions the next day is a tense affair, made worse when Professor Slughorn announces the date of his next party.
"Members of the Slug Club are welcome to attend my party next Friday evening," he states, smiling kindly at the students, before a serious expression crosses his face. "Formal attire mandatory."
You tilt your head down to hide the smile that tries to escape, before turning to your friends to discuss what you all are going to wear. The class ends soon after and you are surprised to see Sirius waiting for you by the door.
Your friends shoot you weary looks, but you nod, telling them it's okay and that you will catch up with them later. When they all shuffle out, you turn to him and sigh, "To what do I owe this displeasure?"
"Hilarious," he replies in a flat tone, before pushing himself off the wall and walking alongside you. "We're partners for Binns' essay. We have to make some sort of plan for the assignment."
You know he is right, and you curse yourself for not being the first one to reach out. "We are both finished with classes for the day. We can go to the library and find the books we need right now, and then make notes this weekend. Next week, we can meet a few times before it's due on Friday to write and edit the paper."
Sirius seems fine with this plan, and you hate how pleased you feel from his approval. He takes a moment to ponder your idea, running a hand through his long, shiny hair, and you find yourself admiring how it gleams in the sun.
"Okay," he finally says, jolting you from your daydream, "works for me. Let's go."
"That's all?" you ask with surprise. "No jibes?"
But he has already started walking towards the library, his long legs giving him an enormous stride that has you jogging to keep up. "Plenty of time for that."
~~~
You both manage to find several helpful books for your essay fairly quickly, and soon you start flipping through them to mark the relevant sections. When you reach the textbook on Magical Relations throughout History, you find a chapter on notable wizard families and become intrigued. As if in autopilot, you flip to the page with your family name and begin scanning over the names, when Sirius comes up next to you and grabs the book from under your face.
"What's got you so hooked?" he asks, looking at the page you were on.
"Give it here," you command, your voice wavering slightly. He doesn't notice.
"Ah, the y/l/n family!" he exclaims, before diving into the content and listing the most recent wizards in chronological order.
Each name feels like an electric shock and you can feel it getting harder to breathe as your lungs struggle to pull air in. When he starts reading the names of your parents, you rush forward and snatch the book back, snapping it closed.
He looks taken aback and anger shoots through you, replacing the discomfort and embarrassment. "How would you feel if I went through your family history?"
Sirius clenches his jaw, his nose flaring with enmity. "How is that the same? Your family has done vile, awful things, and I bet you can't wait to join them!"
He really thought you were just like them. How could he not see how your family went against the very essence of who you were?
But you didn't have the energy to fight him anymore. "Yeah, you're right. Because you obviously know everything about me."
He shakes his head, rubbing a hand over his face. "What are you on about?"
He looks like a puppy with his bewildered expression and suddenly you can't decide whether you want to punch him or shake him. You settle for a "Whatever, Black" before tossing the book onto the table and stalking out of the library.
Your hair blows behind you as you pass by Sirius, and he finds himself wishing he could reach out and run his fingers through the velvety strands. You were striking when you were angry and it was the most infuriating and confusing mix of emotions he had ever experienced.
~~~
The weekend passes quickly and when Monday arrives, you both work on your halves of the essay in silence. You catch yourself glancing up at Sirius a few times, and you can't help but admire his steely focus on the work at hand. His intellect and work ethic are two of the few things you admire about him, after all.
Your eyes are falling shut when you check the time and see that you've been working for hours. You close your ink pot and stuff your parchment into your bag as you get ready to leave.
You are carefully putting away your quills when you hear Sirius' voice, quiet over the crackle of the fireplace. "Why are you in Slytherin if you don't actually care for your family?"
It was the same question you heard all the time, from every direction. Why are you in Slytherin if you hate your family so much, y/n? No one ever asked why Slytherin was associated with such darkness, when it stood for so much more than that.
Glaring at him, you force the memories down and spit out the first ill-chosen remarks you can muster. "Maybe I do care. Maybe I am exactly what you believe! I don't give a fuck what you think about me, Black, so leave me the hell alone."
You start to leave the room as he retorts, "You disgust me."
A humorless laugh escapes from your mouth and you pause for only a moment before exiting the study room. "Back at you."
Sirius is left stunned, his mouth practically hanging open in shock and confusion. Your words were filled with poison, but your voice had contained something he couldn't quite place. He doesn't allow himself to think about it, instead leaving the study room and heading back to Gryffindor tower to get ready for quidditch practice.
The weather is dreadful, souring Sirius' mood even further, but somehow James is his usual chipper self. They scrimmage for a bit, before James parks himself by the goal posts to chat with Sirius about his latest interactions with Lily.
"She laughed at one of my jokes today," James muses, his tone joyful as he gesticulates wildly, balancing on his broom with irritating ease. "I could listen to her laugh for the rest of my life."
Sirius is only half listening, unable to turn his thoughts away from your earlier outburst. He wished that he could crawl inside your mind and understand everything about you, but that impulse was at war with his righteous desire to distance himself from you at any cost. He's considering his choices when he hears a deep voice yell from across the pitch.
"Oi, Black, Potter, I don't pay you tosspots to just sit around and chat!" Frank Longbottom barks out, squinting through the rain.
"Er, Frank," Sirius hesitantly responds, "you don't pay us at all."
"And your point is...?"
James clears his throat and speaks up before Sirius has the chance to get them into trouble. "Sorry, Longbottom, we were just discussing Saturday's match plan against Hufflepuff."
Frank nods and flies off, forcing James to actually do his job as chaser. Sirius shakes his head vigorously, trying to shake off the rain and his thoughts of you, before resuming his station in front of the goal posts. The rest of practice slogs along, and by the time Frank finally lets the team head back inside, they are all drenched.
Sirius can feel the cold deep in his bones and he sheds off his quidditch gear the moment he enters the boys dormitories. Racing to the shower before James can get back from talking to Frank, he turns the water as hot as it can go and steps under the scalding spray. He audibly sighs as the chill in his veins dissipates, and he leans against the tile as the water cascades over him.
The water also helps melt some of the stress that has seeped into his bones, but it's not enough. Quidditch and school and his family and that damn essay. Everything in his life recently has been building the knot of tension in his gut and he needs to relieve it.
His hand slides down and he palms his length lightly, working it slowly before gripping it in his hand. His cock grows, aching with need, and he starts moving his hand, massaging his shaft with slow strokes. Wet heat zings up his spine, and he leans his head back against the wall, quickening the pace of his movements.
He feels the coil tighten in his abdomen and he rubs his thumb over the tip to bring him closer, but suddenly the pleasure stagnates. He clenches his fist harder, but the wave feels far away, taunting him as he tries and fails to crest it. Sirius groans in frustration, turning around to lean his forehead against the tile. His hand grasps his cock again, but this time a reprehensible thought enters his mind and burrows into his subconscious.
This time it's your hand gripping him instead. He's so desperate for release that he allows himself to give in to the fantasy, and suddenly you're in front of him, taking his length in your slender fingers. Your lips curve into a cheeky smirk and you sink to your knees in front of him as he watches you in awe. He can feel you lick a flat stripe up his shaft and he groans, heat surging through him again. When you finally suck him into your mouth, he thinks he may come on the spot, but he squeezes his eyes shut, trying to prolong the sensation. You swirl your tongue around the head of his cock and he can almost imagine your scent as he thrusts up into his own hand, wishing it was yours instead.
He knows he should stop this — he shouldn't even have allowed himself to begin — but it feels so good. So good that he can't bear to imagine what it would have felt like had it been real.
One final thrust brings him to his release and he gasps into the shower wall, pressing his forearm against the tile to keep himself upright. The moment the pleasure ends and his brain clears of its fog, a waterfall of shame washes over him. Sirius scrubs his body with soap, hoping to rid himself of his guilt, but even after he has washed and dried himself, the feeling remains.
He breathes a sigh of relief when he finds that James has yet to return from talking to Longbottom, and he clambers into his bed, pulling the curtains closed around him. He doesn't emerge from his bed until late the next morning, just in time to rush to his first class.
He thanks the heavens that he doesn't share any classes with you today, and he goes through his day in a daze, not fully focusing on any of his subjects. You, on the other hand, are rampaging through the halls with a reignited enmity. You can't get your last argument with Sirius out of your head, and you've been forcing yourself to push down your fury all day.
By the time you finish your last class of the day, you are heading back to the Slytherin dungeon when you spot Sirius ducking into an empty classroom. After a whole day of tamping down your emotions, just the sight of him makes your cheeks flush with anger. Against your better judgment, you stalk forward and follow him into the room.
Sirius turns back in surprise when he hears you enter, but it quickly turns to exasperation and something that looks like abashment. "What the hell are you doing here? Can no one get some bloody peace and qui—"
"Why do you so easily assume that you know me?" you spit out, your volume a bit louder than you would've liked. "You constantly insist upon inserting yourself in my life, but you don't take the time to even try to understand me!"
His expression suddenly grows darker and he scoffs, "Because I do know you. Our families are the same. We grew up with the same upbringing, and I don't even have to look past my own bloody family tree to find a dozen examples of how that turns out."
He looks so sure of himself that you have to fight off the urge to wrap your hands around his neck and strangle him. Taking a step forward, you can't stop yourself from raising your voice even further. "You're so infuriating! How can anyone stand to be around you?"
Sirius barks out a laugh, taking another step closer, "You're not exactly a cakewalk either, sweetheart."
His last words bring him that much closer to you, and suddenly you can feel the warmth of his breath on your face. You peer up at him hesitantly, frightened by the fact that this proximity to Sirius Black isn't scaring you off. Instead, you almost feel emboldened, and you find yourself leaning in slightly, enjoying the way his breath hitches when the wisps of your hair tickle his chin. You see his eyes flutter closed as he inhales slowly, as if trying to remain still, and you tilt your head back to—
The door creaks open and you both fly apart, but not fast enough. Remus enters slowly, his head peeking inside as his eyes widen with astonishment.
"Oh bugger, sorry," Remus exclaims, turning around to leave the classroom.
"It's fine," Sirius says emphatically, as if he's trying to convince more than just Remus. "Nothing's going on."
You can't stand the awkwardness, so you mutter a quick "gotta go" to Remus, before jetting out the door.
Sirius watches you leave, internally kicking himself for letting you get under his skin like this. He was no stranger to wanting — or being wanted by — women, but this was something different. Something that brought out a longing from within him that he had no hope of understanding.
"Is this why you've been acting so weird recently?" Remus asks, looking at Sirius pointedly. "Because you fancy her or something?"
Sirius flashes him an incredulous look, hoping it's more convincing than it feels to him. "Pff, shut up, Moony."
Remus purses his lips, clearly not believing a word he's saying, but he thankfully lets the subject drop. "Well, anyway, I heard your voice from outside and I thought I'd let you know that James was looking for you. Something about getting to quidditch practice early..."
Sirius groans good-naturedly, secretly excited about the prospect of relieving his frustration through a nice scrimmage. Grabbing his book bag, he follows Remus out of the classroom and heads down to the quidditch pitch.
~~~
Sirius doesn't know what to think about you anymore, and he is only more confused when he hears your voice in a side corridor on the way to Transfiguration the next day. He stays hidden around the corner, but manages to catch the end of your conversation with Snape.
"Why do you get off on hurting people, Severus?" you ask, your voice dripping with venom. "You're a fucking blood purist who's tarnishing the Slytherin name with your outdated and disgusting ideologies."
"Don't bother yourself with my so-called ideologies, y/n," he sneers, and Sirius pulls his wand out in case there's an altercation.
You scoff and Sirius is surprised at the pride he feels at the sight of you standing up to Snape. "Slytherin stands for cleverness and ambition, not for ruthlessness and cruelty. You and your lot have given us an awful reputation just for existing and I'm bloody tired of seeing you all prancing around these halls like you care about what it means to be here!"
Sirius hears the swish of your robes, and he backs up behind a gargoyle statue right before you turn the corner and strut past him. A warmth fills his chest and he swallows thickly, trying to place what he's feeling. He saw a different person in you everyday and each time he spoke to you, he never knew what he was getting himself into. You were the least predictable person he had ever met, and god help him, he liked that about you.
The rest of your essay work sessions occur in a similar fashion to the first, and Sirius doesn't mention what he heard. You are more than content working in silence, but something feels off between the two of you, and you hate how much you miss the way it used to be. The banter and the jibes and the rivalry.
Peeking up at him through your loosely hanging hair, you see him chewing the back of his quill, his brow furrowed tightly into a small 'v'. Curling your hand into a fist, you resist the urge to press your fingers into the worry lines on his forehead and smooth them out. He really was beautiful when he worked, his eyes burning with focus and determination. Pursing your lips, you push the thought away and continue writing the last few paragraphs of your paper.
~~~
The day of Slughorn's party arrives quickly and you are frantically getting ready with your friends after turning in your part of the essay for Binns' class. You were relieved to be done with the project, but it would be remiss to say that you didn't miss seeing Sirius outside of class hours. You finish up your makeup and adjust the thin straps of your black, floor-length gown, before pulling on your shawl and heading out.
In the Gryffindor boys' dormitories, Sirius and Remus are wrestling their ties on, with James flopped on his bed, timing them to see who can tie theirs first. Remus wins by a hair, and Sirius plops down next to James, a playful frown on his face.
"Get up, you tosser," James laughs, pushing Sirius off the bed. "You'll wrinkle your suit."
"This is why we keep you around, Prongs," Sirius grins, smoothing his shirt down before patting Remus on the back. "So that you can teach us the ways of your posh upbringing."
"Fuck you," James replies, a smile creeping onto his face. "Anyway, you lot better head to the party. Don't want to be too late."
"But don't forget, James," Remus mocks, grinning pointedly at Sirius, "the party doesn't begin until Padfoot arrives!"
"Right you are," Sirius hoots, before saying a quick goodbye to Peter and pulling Remus through the door with him.
Somehow, they are still in the first batch of people to arrive, and they occupy themselves by grabbing champagne flutes from the passing waiters.
"Bit stuffy, isn't it?" Remus mutters, taking a sip from his glass.
Sirius nods, downing the whole glass before grabbing another flute. "We'll chat up some of the professors then head out early."
"Works for me."
Remus starts scanning the room to see if he can spot Madam Pince, and just as Sirius brings the champagne to his lips, he sees you walk in.
His hand freezes in mid-air and he can't take his eyes off of you no matter how hard he tries to look away. You look ravishing in a long, black gown and your hair cascades down your back in a gleaming waterfall. Just when Sirius starts to regain the mobility of his hand, you slide off your shawl and the sharp curves of your collarbone shimmer under the candlelight.
"Have fun with that," Remus whispers, his tone laced with humor, before patting him on the back and walking off to speak with Professor Slughorn.
You don't notice him at first, but after you hand your shawl to someone working by the door, you peer up to see Sirius Black staring at you, his mouth slightly agape. When he sees you looking back at him, he looks at the ceiling and swallows a large gulp of champagne. You know something is different between you two, but there was no way you were going to be the first to address it. Spotting one of your friends from class, you head over to join their conversation.
Sirius had always known you were beautiful but he had never let himself truly see it before tonight. Before you had winced at the sight of your family's atrocities, and stood up to Snape when he was being exactly who Sirius thought you were. He had been so wrong all this time.
Spotting you across the room, he tightens his tie and pushes himself off of the counter he was leaning against. Head held high, he saunters over to where you are laughing with your friends and stops right in front of you. You look up at him in shock, which quickly turns to uneasiness. "What do you want, Black?"
He looks you straight in the eyes, his attention refusing to waver, as he says simply, "Dance with me."
Your expression is filled with skepticism and something else he can't decipher, but to his surprise, you take his hand. He pulls you up from your seat and leads you to the other side of the room, where a quartet is playing music. The song they are playing is a bit fast-paced for slow dancing, but when Sirius shoots them a look, they immediately transition into a slower melody.
"Impressive," you say jokingly, acutely noticing the moment his hand moves to rest on your waist.
He smiles softly and you both dance in silence until Sirius turns his gaze back to you, piercing you with his eyes in a way that always got you flustered.
"Thank heavens that essay is over," he states, his lips curving slightly. "I missed our little class rivalry."
You nod slowly, relieved that he is voicing exactly what you've been feeling. "It's not as fun when we're on the same side."
He's silent again for a few moments, before he pulls you a bit closer in his arms and scrutinizes your face in an annoyingly charming way. "But we are, aren't we? On the same side."
His statement catches you by surprise, you don't know what to say. You can't seem to break the eye contact you've been sharing and heat travels down your spine at his languid gaze. You almost wish you could go back to when he didn't look too hard into your life, but a part of you knows that this is a good different.
Before you can lose your nerve, you sigh and whisper, "Yes...we are."
You can feel your cheeks flush with heat, but you don't want to take your eyes away from him, afraid that if you look away, you will lose this connection that has somehow developed in the midst of your silent war. You instead choose to focus on how long his eyelashes are, practically casting shadows on his cheekbones as he gazes down at you.
Sirius notices the moment your skin begins to flush and he has to tighten his grip on your waist to keep his breath steady. Every point of contact between the two of you burns with unbridled possibility, and his usual confidence wavers as he fixates on the pink spreading across your cheeks. He can't imagine how you couldn't know the effect you have on him, and he slowly pulls you in closer to gauge your reaction.
You gasp slightly when your chest presses against his, and for a second, you completely forget that you are supposed to be dancing. Your sudden pause disrupts Sirius' rhythm and before you can readjust, he is inches away from you, his chest heaving.
"Let's get out of here," Sirius whispers, his voice husky.
You're so caught off guard that you lose the ability to speak, opting for a quick nod that ignites something in his eyes. He slips a hand behind your lower back and leads you off the dance floor, guiding you into the hallway. When he finds an isolated stairwell, you finally regain your bearings and press him against the stone wall, reveling in the sudden burst of courage. Sirius looks back at you mischievously, and you immediately kiss the smirk off of his face.
You hear him mutter a quick invisibility charm under his breath and you can't help but be vexed that he thought of it faster than you did. When you part his lips with your tongue, he groans under his breath, and the sound sends heat rushing down your abdomen. Filled with a newfound confidence, you bite his lip teasingly, before yanking on his tie to loosen it.
"Holy shit," Sirius exhales, leaning back against the wall while you unbutton his shirt, completely letting you have your way with him. Ever since that night in the showers, he has imagined this moment incessantly, but something told him that the real thing was about to me infinitely better.
You grip his lapels, trying to pull him closer and closer, and he obliges, wrapping his arm around your body as he lifts you to sit on the ledge beside him. His lips are so much softer than you could've imagined, and he presses feverish kisses along your jaw, setting you instantly ablaze. This moment is everything you wanted it to be and you feel heat pool in your belly as his hands begin to ride down, shifting the hem of your dress higher.
The image of the two of you here, together, is so wild and unexpected that you almost can't believe it's even happening. You must have spoken out loud, because Sirius smirks against your skin and says, "What? You can't believe you're alone in a stairwell with the top of your class?"
You pull back immediately, sputtering, "Wha- what? Top of the class, my ass!" when you see a grin cross Sirius' face.
"What?" you ask, your mouth scrunching into a small pout.
"You're never gonna stop arguing with me, are you?"
You press your lips together, unsure of what he's getting at, "...No."
His grins widens and he pulls you forward into another searing kiss. "Good."
Your chest bubbles with satisfaction that quickly turns primal when Sirius starts bunching up your gown. He hikes up your dress slowly, allowing you plenty of time to change your mind; when you don't, he slides your panties to the side and enters you swiftly with a lithe finger.
You gasp at the contact, your back arching into his body, and he can't help the grin that crosses his face at your response. Just the feeling of your warm heat makes his pants tighten with desire, and he has to clutch the silky material of your dress to keep himself from reaching down and undoing his belt buckle. You look so beautiful under him, and he wishes he could commit this image to his memory forever.
You lean your head back against the cool stained glass behind you, and Sirius dips down to run his tongue up the smooth expanse of your exposed neck. Just when the heat is almost too much, he sucks the skin on your pulse point, sending shock waves of pleasure coursing through you. He adds another finger and you cry out in ecstasy, grabbing onto his open shirt for some sort of stability. The motion of his fingers combined with the warmth of his lips brings you so close, but right when you are about to feel the release, he pulls his fingers out.
"Fuck," you exclaim, your eyes widening in disbelief. "I was so close!"
Sirius ignores you, tugging his pants down quickly and unsheathing his thick shaft. "You're not coming unless it's on my cock."
A ferocious desire courses through you and he swears he has died and gone to heaven when he sees how your eyes sparkle with lust. You nod immediately, and he yanks your panties off fully before lining himself up with your entrance. You brace yourself, but it's not enough to prepare you for the feeling of his hard cock splitting you open. You can feel every inch of him as he pushes into you, refusing to stop until he's fully seated within you.
Sirius can't believe how good you feel around him, and he forces himself to allow you a second to adjust before he starts moving. As soon as he begins thrusting into you, white hot pleasure curls up your spine, wrenching out moan after moan from deep inside your throat. You had thought about this moment so many times, but nothing could compare to this. This connection you felt with him that was slowly setting you ablaze.
The sight of you beneath him triggers an animalistic response, and Sirius suddenly has the intense desire to mark your pristine skin. He wants to see the column of your throat littered with bruises to show the world that you had been his.
Sirius brings his hand down, his fingers splaying across your throat, before he tightens them around your neck. Your eyes widen with surprise that quickly turns to hunger, and he squeezes until he can feel your pulse beneath his fingertips. Just when it starts to become too much, he loosens his hold and tilts your head back, lifting your body up to meet his. The change in angle has him hitting the perfect spot deep inside of you, and your eyes roll back from bliss.
You are already gasping with pleasure before he begins nipping at the skin behind your ear, slowly making him way down your neck. You know the marks will be hard to hide, but you can't bring yourself to care. Soon the knot of pressure in your abdomen starts tightening and you know you're getting close, so you reach your hand down to touch yourself.
Sirius' thrusts start to falter a bit as he gets closer to the edge, but he can feel your walls closing in around him, so he quickens his movements. The spicy scent of your perfume turns his brain fuzzy and he bites down on the hollow of your collarbone as another pang of possessiveness washes over him. The sensation sends you flying over the edge and the feeling of you tightening around him brings him to his release shortly after.
When you finally come down from the high, you are both out of breath, your chests heaving. You immediately start looking for your panties, and Sirius pulls his shirt back over his shoulders, buttoning up his pants. You are about to turn away when Sirius reaches over to cup your cheek, bringing you up to face him again.
"You're beautiful," he mutters, his thumb absently stroking your jaw as he looks at you with a familiar glint in his eyes. "I was so wrong about you, and if only I had known—"
"Then what?" you ask, your expression turning into one of disbelief, yet longing. "Then we could have been together? Come on, Black, you know we never would've worked out."
You say the last words with a small smile, which Sirius eventually returns. "Yeah, I guess you're right. You never would've been able to keep up with me anyways."
"Wha-" you sputter, "excuse me?"
But Sirius is already laughing. You're so incredulous that you don't realize what he is doing until he pulls you forward into a quick kiss before whispering, "See you in class, y/n."
sirius admiring r while they do their make up/get ready to go out on a date.................
Sirius Black was 100% sure that his girlfriend was the prettiest girl on earth.
He loved every aspect of her. Her eyes, her hair, her body, her laugh, the look she got when she was trying to figure something out.
She was his own personal heaven. Some days he questions hoe he got so lucky, others he doubts if he truly deserves her, but he will spend every single day admiring her.
He was sat on her bed, waiting for her to finish getting ready so they could go out.
She was sitting at her dresser carefully applying her make up.
Sirius could spend all day watching her. She was his favourite thing in the world.
He watched the way she patted the concealer into her skin, admiring her with a look of pure awe.
"You ready to go yet, dove?" He smiled at her fron her bed.
"Almost done siri!" She smiled back.
He'd happily wait. He'd ditchthe meet up with his friends entirely if it meant he got to spend more time with his girl.
Eventually, she spun around, turning to face him. "How do I look?" She asks with a bright smile as he stands up and walks to her.
"Prettier than all the stars in the sky, love." He grins down at her, cupping her face, staring into her eyes with lovesick ones of his own.
Sorry this had been in my drafts so long!! Hope you enjoy !!
There are some characters that I thought were real but where made up for fanfics. I hope people don't mind if i add them because i already wrote the chapter. I later found out while googling stuff abt The Marauders. I will be added them and other characters to my story with my own twist. With that being said, don't come for me if this character is doing this and that. Not sure how many chapters I'll be doing, really depends on the feedback. please read the tags before reading. Remus found himself staring at the tracks in front of him. His eyes studied the nails and the iron bars of the train tracks. He can hear the horns of the Hogwarts Express blasting indicating it’s near. It drowns out the sounds of the students and their families around him. He looks at the red and black train coming and Remus takes a step forward.
Remus has thought of this a lot before, stepping in front of a train. Trains, buses and cars. Just one leap and it will be over. His fingers tighten over the straps of his bag over his shoulder as he thinks about it more.
A quick death, what a wonderful relief.
He hates having a full moon in the summer when he is away from Hogwarts. He didn’t have any of his friends during that time. They were off on vacation or doing activities with their families and Remus doesn’t have the heart to ask them to come over. His friends have done so much for him. He’s afraid of asking for too much and they will leave him for it. He doesn’t want to be alone.
Remus takes another step forward getting a bit closer to the edge and as he looks ahead. His mouth slightly dropped open when he saw a man standing on the other side of the tracks staring back at him. The man stood there bloody, throat ripped open, slashes across his face and chest. Blood was gushing out from the man’s wound. He wore dark blue trousers and a white ripped collar shirt. The man lifted his hand towards Remus, reaching for him. With his finger, he pointed at Remus as blood dripped down from it. Remus feels the bile coming up his throat when the man try to open his mouth to speak. Blood came pouring out from his mouth and Remus stands there frozen in fear. Remus doesn't see a flash of red running towards him.
“Remus!” He feels a force come at him making him take a step back from the edge of the platform. The train approaches, hiding him away from the bloody man. He felt Lily hug him and Remus shut his eyes as he wrapped his arms around her pulling her into a tight hug. He missed her so much this summer. He didn’t visited her like usual. He couldn’t. He was ashamed of himself. He tries to get rid of the sight of the man he just saw, he continues to hug her. Lily rubbed his back when Remus didn't pull right away.
Lily Evans, was the first friend he made when he came to Hogwarts. She was the first to realize what he was and she was the first to not make him feel bad for being a werewolf. As times passed he was welcome into a group of three boys. They didn’t make him feel bad as well, they had even helped him by becoming animagus and stayed with him through his transformations.
“You haven’t written back to me all summer.” Lily said when they pulled away. The students around them started boarding into the train.
“Forgive me, Lils. Rough summer is all.” Remus said as he grabbed his luggage by his feet along with Lily’s. She gave him a thanks and he just nodded. He wasn’t going to allow her to carry the heavy thing.
Lily and Remus greeted the other students in their year as they walked to their usual compartment. Remus with ease placed the luggage on the top shelf as Lily sat down. Remus sat down with a huff beside her, next to the window, his favorite spot. Lily opened her beige shoulder bag and took out a brown lunch paper bag with the letter R written on it.
“Mom, send you a snack.” Remus smiles as he grabs it from Lily.
“She’s a saint.” Remus said as he opened it, taking a look inside. In separate plastic bags, he saw there were slices of green apples and a jam sandwich cut diagonally. There was even a small juice box.
“Green apple, my favorite.” He comments.
“Ugh, she likes you more than me.” Lily pulled out a bag of baby carrots instead of apples like him. Lily’s mom knew of Remus, he would visit Lily sometimes during break and the summer. Lily’s mom was always happy to see him and even called him a son at one point when he always offered to take out the trash or wash the dishes. Remus thought it was the least he could do since they had him over for dinners. Petunia wasn’t really fond of him, but he didn’t mind her. He ignored the names being aimed at him when he sat across from her during dinner.
Remus chuckles at Lily then he takes the bag of apples out. “I’ll trade.”
“You would really do that for me?” She asked him with a pout.
“Hurry, before I change my mind!” Lily laughs and gives him the bag of baby carrots as she gets the bag of apples.
Remus drops the baby carrots into his brown paper bag, saving them for later. He looked over at Lily when he noticed what she was holding out. He gives her a smile and grabs the slice of apple from her hand.
Quickly putting it in his mouth,  he hummed at the sweetness of the apple as he chewed. Lily frowned and stopped mid-bite when she noticed Remus looking out the window. His eyes roaming quickly on the other side of the platform.
“Looking for someone?” Lily asked and Remus looked over at her. He shook his head, telling her nobody.
Lily is eating when Sirius and James come walking in. Remus rises up from his seat to greet his friends. Lily does the same. Remus helps Sirius with his luggage as James sits next to Lily by the door. Sirius sits across from Remus.
He’s listening to Sirius ramble on about his summer, it was another horrid one. His mother had gone mad about tradition with the family. He was a disgrace for being a Gryffindor, but he was even more of a disgrace to his family when they found out Sirius doesn’t agree with the pureblood ideas. James and Lily are talking amongst themselves. Remus and Sirius just gave each a look, James was finally getting on Lily’s good side.
Sirius hits Remus' shoes with his elbow that rested next to him. Remus had quite a growth spurt last year. He had his leg resting on the seat across from him.
“How was your summer, mate?! I sent you a letter, you know?” Sirius' cheeks grow pink and Remus notices it.
“I’m sorry. I did receive it. I had a hard time answering back. Last moon was draining.” Sirius nods at him, understandingly.
“Are you okay now?” He asks Remus. Sirius notices something odd with Remus when he doesn't answer right away. He didn’t like it one bit. Remus was usually cheerful whenever they came back to school.
“Yes, Padfoot.” Remus answers as he leans his head against the window. Sirius decides to not push it and asks Remus about a book he was reading before summer break. He smiles when he sees Remus' whole demeanor change, Remus sat up and excitedly told him about it. The train lets out another sound and a few seconds later. The train began to move then after a few more conversations about Lily and James’ summer. One by one they started to doze off.
Remus was sleeping with his head against the window. His body jiggled softly as the train kept on moving. He scratches his nose when he feels an itch in his sleep. Inhaling deeply, Remus’ eyes shot open when a scent hit him. The scent is new, it didn’t come from his friends. Remus felt a chill down his back, it was a strange feeling. He doesn’t know why he’s smelling it, the full moon has passed already. Why is the lycanthropy still residing in him?  Sitting up straight, he looks over at his friends. They are still sleeping, he wonders why Peter isn’t here. They have been taking the same spot in the train for five years now, so Peter couldn’t be lost in finding them.
Remus felt his throat close up when the smell hit him again. He rose up from his seat, taking another sniff in the air.  He noticed the door was a bit open. He figured it was Sirius who usually forgets to latch the lock whenever coming back from the restroom.
Remus decides to go to the bathroom and wash his face. He figured he was smelling things because he had a rough summer. He was barely sleeping at home. The nap on the train was the best sleep he had all summer. He shuts the door behind him then looks up and down the hall, it’s empty. The lights of the hallway were lit up, he saw most of the other people had pulled down the curtains for privacy as he walked to the restroom. Remus yawns as he walks inside the restroom and turns on the light. Rubbing his eyes he steps in front of the toilet to relieve himself. Letting out a small moan when finished urinating, he turns his head to the door. That fucking smell is there, he quickly walks to the door. He presses his forehead against it. Remus inhales the scent, it's on the wooden door.
The scent of copper, the scent of a girl.
Remus doesn’t realize at first but he breathes heavily, his forehead is pressed against the door as his right hand touches his chest and drops down to his lower stomach. He fist the sweater he wore on top of his uniform in his hand as he sniffs harder. When his fingers hits the zipper of his trouser, the urge to touch himself came over him. His eyes shot open and he quickly stepped away from the door. He stared at it, scared. This has never happened to him before. A scent that was making him horny, it was new to him.
Remus knows this isn’t him, this has to be Moony. The wolf that resides in him. Moony should be gone by now but he isn’t. He leans against the wall of the bathroom and let's out a sigh. He shook his head as he looked down at his hands, he shut his eyes when he remembered how his hands looked with all that blood. He looks ahead at the mirror and whines when the background changes. He saw himself back again in the woods behind his house.
“Stop it.” He hissed to himself as he looked away and started to push the button of the soap dispenser on the wall.
Turning the hot water all the way up. He ignored the heat of the water as he washed his hands until it was pink and raw.  He kept telling himself, he had to scrub it away, wash the blood away. He looks ahead at the mirror and stares at himself. His eyes are staring at the new scar on his face. He hates his appearance, despises it. It’s just a constant reminder of what he is, a monster. His friends tell him differently but Remus knows he’s one. He truly is especially after what he did.
Running his fingers through his hair, damping his sandy brown curls before turning off the light, he walks out of the bathroom. The hallway is still empty, he shuts the door and starts to walk back when he smells it again. His chest started to feel tight and he bit his bottom lip as he turned to face the other side of the hallway.
He’s staring down the hall and he can smell it again.
“Fuck.” He murmured when he saw that part of the train, usually students of House Slytherin, sits in. He steps forward carefully as he looks to the left. Most of the train compartments had the curtains drawn down, he stopped when one of the doors was slightly open. He guessed whoever was in there forgot to use the lock.
‘Another Sirius.’ Remus tells himself as he looks inside. He sees a figure sleeping on the cushion seats, a leg hanging out. He frowns when he notices they wore jeans and sneakers. The person wasn't in uniform like them. Remus hears laughter further down the hall and quickly goes back. Last thing he wants to do is come face to face with a Slytherin. Making it back to his seat, he gently sat back down to not disturbed Lily who was leaning against James. He grabs the brown lunch bag Lily’s mom made for him.
Remus quietly eats his sandwich as he stares out the window, watching the scenery. He never gets tired looking at the mountains and lakes as the train makes its way to Hogwarts.
Shelley Mumps was the one who woke everyone the following morning. Remus had dozed off after eating his sandwich. He jumped out of his sleep when Shelley slid the door open with such force.
“What happened?” James said in a sleepy voice as she shut the door and sat beside Sirius waking him up.
“There's a transfer student. She's in our year.” Shelley said, looking at them.
“Cool, can we go back to sleep?” Sirius said getting himself comfortable again against the wall.
"She's American.” She added. Remus frowns. “They allow Americans in Hogwarts?” He questioned.
“ Apparently because she’s here. Some of us saw her walking down the hallway. She was staring out the window. You should have seen the clothes she was wearing.” Shelley laughs and Remus looks away from her.
Lily just sighs at her friend. “What do you mean by that, Shelley?”
“She had ripped holes in her jeans and her shoes looked dirty. She had this shirt with this ugly green army jacket. She looks homeless.”  Sirius was awake now and looked at Remus who kept quiet and stared out the window.
“I'm sure, it wasn't that bad.” James said, clearing his throat as he sat up straight in his seat.
“Oh please. The train is stopping soon. You’ll see her.” Shelley said before waving bye at them.
“Tell me why you are still friends with her?” Remus asks softly, looking over at Lily.
“I have too, I share a dormitory with her.” Lily said, grabbing her bag as they felt the train stopped.
They quickly got up and started to get their belongings. The students lined up and walked out the train. “Let's see if we can catch a glimpse of this girl.” Sirius tells Remus and James as Lily waved bye at them to find her other friends.
Remus walked behind them as they walked to the waiting carriages. Leaving their trunks and luggage behind, they sat down. Remus looks around but has no luck in finding this ‘homeless girl.’ The carriages make it to the gates and they step down to walk towards the school, it was a five minute walk.
“Peter!” James exclaimed and Remus looked over to see his friend walking towards them.
“I missed the bloody train! My parents were furious. They had to drop me off.” Peter said with a sigh. Sirius and Remus shook their heads, Peter had a tendency of being late. They welcomed Peter with a hug.
“Did you hear the news?” Sirius asked.
Peter rolled his eyes. “Yeah, Shelley gave me the full details on the new girl.”
They walked together to the castle when they noticed a group of students standing by.
“Oi!” James yells and a Ravenclaw boy, named Hems in their year, turns around. “What's going on?”
“The American is with Hagrid.” Hems tells them as they get closer. Remus looked ahead to see.
“Is she daft? What's she petting?” Remus hears another student ask.
“Her name is-.” Someone said your name and Remus thinks it’s a nice name. He continues to look at you, trying to get a good look at your face.
He can see Hagrid talking to you with a smile as you kept petting at the air but Remus can see the thestral you were petting. He could see its leathery wings flap for a second before circling around you making you giggle. Shelley was blowing your appearance out of proportion but it was exactly what he expected from a pureblood. He looks at you and he thinks your smile is pretty, that's what he noticed first about you. He looks at your clothes. You look casual. You look like a regular muggle, it reminded him of the outfit Sirius usually wears whenever going out to a muggle place. The green army jacket is a bit big on you. You wore a black shirt and blue ripped jeans.
The thestral rubbed its head against your bookbag, you wore and Hagrid shooed the thestral away from you when it started to nibble on your bag making you laugh loudly.
“What is she laughing at?” A student asked loudly.
“You idiot, it's thestral.” Remus looks over and notices Severus with a group of Slytherins standing by. He was glaring at you as he answered. Remus noticed Hagrid leaning down to tell you something. You turn to face them and Remus sees your face for a second. Your eyes widened by the sight of them and quickly looked away before he could get a good look at you.
“Two galleons, I’ll have her in bed by the end of the week.” Remus noticed an older student from House Ravenclaw speak out. Remus rolls his eyes when the group of students around him starts to snicker and begin to place their bets on you. He watches you walk away with Hagrid towards the school.
“James? Sirius?” The guy said, looking over at them.
“No, mate. I’m good.” James said before signaling his friends to keep walking. Remus doesn't want any part of it either.
Sirius stops in mid step when one of them starts to laugh and yells out, “The American probably has diseases. You know they are sluts.”
“15 galleons says she doesn't sleep with you.” Sirius said, making them stop laughing and look at him in disbelief at the amount of money he was placing.
“You're on, Black.”
Remus, James and Peter waited for Sirius to finish when he saw Severus and his friends walking away. James just glared at Severus and the long, dark haired boy did the same to James.
“You really think she won't sleep with him?” Peter asked as they continued to make their way to the castle.
“You have to be Shelley to sleep with them. I doubt she's like her.” Sirius said, shaking his head.
Settling back down in Hogwarts was easy for Remus. He missed his bed and being around his friends. The atmosphere was different from back home. He wasn't alone, in Hogwarts he was surrounded by students, professors, and even ghosts.
Getting ready for dinner, he spoke to Sirius about another book he got. Remus was fond of Sirius and even though they both came from completely different backgrounds. They were best friends. Sirius was the second person to figure out what he was. Remus had cried in front of him when he figured it out. Sirius didn't speak while Remus told him that he would understand if he didn't want to be friends anymore. Sirius just hugged him tightly. Hugged him until he calmed down.
“You’re ridiculous. If you think, I'm going to stop being your best friend, mate.” Sirius spoke out after a few minutes.
‘We’ll figure something out to help you. I promise.”
Remus didn't believe it at first but when James and Peter figured it out he told them the truth. The three managed to become animagi behind his back and showed Remus when they accomplished it. He never felt so accepted before. They supported Remus during his transformations and mood swings when the full moon was near. They accompanied him in their animagi form to the Shrieking Shack then later carried him to Poppy Pomfrey.
He was forever grateful for them. He really was so when he got too deep in his head and started thinking about dying and ending himself. He thinks of them. He thinks of Sirius, Peter, James and Lily. He thinks of his mom as well.
He thinks about the time his mom would bath him when he was too hurt. She would feed him, dress him when he couldn’t move. His mother changed completely during the recent summer. She couldn’t look him in the eye and it broke him. His father who treated him differently already barely said a word.
‘Oi!” Remus was deep in thought when James caught his attention.
“You okay, Moony?” James said, walking towards him. They were in their dorm room, putting their stuff away when James saw Remus laying on the bed with his hands behind his head, staring up at the ceiling.
“Yeah, Prongs.” James nods and sits beside him on the bed. Remus pushes himself up and holds himself by the elbows.
“You know I wrote to you this summer. Like four times.” James said softly as Peter and Sirius were in the bathroom freshening up to go to dinner.
“I know. I just-.” Remus feels James' eyes on him. “I don't know.” Remus lied.
“Everything okay at home?” James whispered in a concerned tone, he knew about his life at home. Remus nods as Peter and Sirius come out of the bathroom laughing about something.
“Ready to eat?” Peter asked as they put on their robes.
“Yes!” Remus said getting out of bed, he looked over his shoulder to meet James' gaze who was still sitting down and staring at him. He did not believe Remus for a second. James drops it because he knows Remus hates being the center of attention so he drops it for now and says yes to Peter.
Remus finds himself looking for you at the great hall but he can’t. He keeps his head down and listens to James and Lily talking in front of them as Sirius is talking with Marlene. Peter is next to him, trying to ignore Shelly who was talking about her summer. He was more interested in what's for dinner.
“Welcome Students! Back for another year with us. I do hope everyone had a good summer.” Remus sighs as he looks down at the empty plate in front of him. The headmaster Dumbledore makes a few announcements about classes and a new teacher who will be teaching D.A.D.A.
“Lastly, it gives me great pleasure to introduce a new student that will be joining us,-.” Dumbledore announces your full name and Remus repeats it in his head. He remembers your smile. It was so genuine, no one smiled like that to thestrals.
“She’s from America, boys and girls. She will be studying with us. I want everyone to give her a warm welcome.” Remus looked up from his plate and looked over at the doors of the hall when it opened. He saw you wearing their uniform on. You stood next to Hagrid who urged you to walk inside.
Remus claps along with his friends as you walk to Dumbledore and McGonagall, who had the sorting hat ready for you.
“She looks like she's going to throw up.” Remus hears a Slytherin ahead of him joke. While you walked up the steps and sat down on the stool, facing everyone. Your eyes were looking down when McGonagall placed the hat on your head.
The sorting hat hums as it rests on top of your head.
“I feel it, young one. Don't you?” Remus saw you looking over at Dumbledore with a frightened look. McGonagall nods at you, easing your worries. You look down at the ground once more and your hands clasped on top of your lap.
“Difficult choice, indeed.” The hat says.
“A fighter!” The sorting hat yells, making everyone whisper.
 “A protector!” Remus noticed the look on Dumbledore's face.
“Oh- my, that is-.”  The hall quieted down when the hat stopped in mid sentence.
“I know now! I see it!” The sorting hat crackled loudly.
 “Slytherin!” Remus saw you lift your face to look ahead and Remus thought you were the most beautiful person he had ever seen. He took notes of your nose and lips. Your eyes and the way you looked so nervous made him feel bad.
He looked away from you when the hall started to applause. McGonagall was kind enough to show you where the table was. You looked down at your uniform when you noticed the color had changed.
He peeks between Lily and James and sees you picked the farthest empty seat from the table. He can see you take a deep breath as you look at the silverware in front of you when you sit down.
Shelley is sniggering with an older student from Gryffindor who is sitting beside her.
“What's so funny?” James asked. “She probably doesn't know what a fork is? Don't Americans eat with their hands?” The boy asked James.
“That’s fucked up, lad.” Sirius says, eyeing him.
“Look ahead, she's using them just fine.” Lily snaps before looking down to eat her food. Remus looks over and notices you have begun to eat as well. It was quiet after that, Remus ate and only looked over when he took a sip of his juice. They ignore the others who keep making jokes are your expense. They spoke about your hair and how you looked. Some thought you were hot while others thought you were ugly.
Sirius noticed how Remus was quiet. It was pretty normal for Remus to be quiet. Quiet Remus, who only speaks when spoken too but right now it was different. Sirius felt his best friend’s vibe completely off right then and there.
Remus had different sides of him. He can be so quiet then be very cheerful and make jokes. Until the full moon comes, he becomes cranky and snappy. Sirius stabs his chicken with his fork as he looks at Remus. There’s a new scar on his face and Sirius doesn’t have the courage to ask him about it. Especially since he saw how Remus acted when asked why he hadn't responded to his letter. Something must have happened during the summer, Sirius thinks to himself.
He noticed Remus looking over when he took a drink. He followed his gaze and landed on you. Sirius does a double take when he sees his younger brother Regulus walking towards you with his plate in his hands along with his cup.
Regulus flashes you a smile. “Oh fuck!” A Gryffindor from the table whispered.
Regulus sits down across from you. “You ok?” Remus whispers when he sees it.
“Of course, why wouldn’t I be? He’s with his kind.” Sirius says to Remus but he doesn’t believe that Sirius can just be okay. Remus knows the complicated relationship that Sirius had with his younger brother.
It was a few minutes later when Regulus and you stood up. Plates are empty and Remus watches as you pick up the empty plate.
“What is she doing?” A boy from the Hufflepuff table behind them says catching their attention and the voices in the hall become quiet.
“Do we have to wash it?” It was a simple question that you asked. Remus gets annoyed at the fact that you get laughed out by the Slytherin table when you ask Regulus.
Regulus shoots them a glare and shakes his head at you before telling you that there was no need. You can leave your plate there and the elves will get it and clean it.
“Elves?” You frowned, and your eyebrows knitted together in confusion.
“Like a Santa's elf?” Remus hasn’t heard the word Santa since he was a kid.
Regulus tilts his head at you, he’s confused now.
“She’s half blood then?” Remus hears the table start throwing ideas of what your blood is.
“What the fuck is a Santa?” Sirius whispered to James then looked at Remus when James shrugged his shoulders.
“Are  you sure that she’s in the right grade if she thinks Santa is real?” Someone asked loudly and people began to laugh.
It had gotten to the point that the laughter behind Remus started to get to him. He didn’t find it funny at all that they were making fun of you. He wondered what did you know about magic, perhaps you didn’t know anything at all. His guess had to be that you were muggle born but he keeps it to himself because if he was right about you being a muggle born then you will have a difficult time, especially in house Slytherin.
He knows what it feels like to be made fun of and he hates it. He gets bullied for his scar face. He gets bullied because he’s quiet. He gets bullied because he’s poor.
He sees Regulus walking out with you from the great hall. He leaves a few minutes after saying he had a headache but he just didn’t want to hear the comments they were making. He decided to go to sleep early that night.
He was glad he had a dreamless sleep. He didn’t dream about the man. It was morning and he saw you again walking with a younger student from your house to the great hall. Remus walks in with Peter and he sighs when he sees Shelly and Marlene there already, eating. He didn’t mind Marlene at all, she was kind and reminded him of the female version of Sirius. She was spunky and played quidditch with James and Sirius.
“Morning, guys.” Remus greets them and sits down. While a Ravenclaw girl ahead of them rises up from her seat and runs to Shelley.
“You won’t believe what I just heard!” The girl said to Shelley.
“The American slept in the bathroom on her first night here. Her roommates are telling everyone. They heard her crying.” Shelley and the girl began to laugh.
Marlene looks at the girls. “I don’t find that funny. She probably misses her home.”
“Oh come on, Marlene.” Shelley said, waving her hand dismissing Marlene’s words.
Before she can say anything James and Lily along with Sirius came in. “Morning.” They greeted their friends.
“I’m not ready for classes.” James sighs as he sits down.
“Guys, Penelope just told me that -.” Remus finally cracks and cuts her off when he slams his hand on the table loudly and looks over at her.
“Would you shut up already? Enough making fun of the new girl.” He said and Shelley grows red from embarrassment of his sudden outburst.
“You feel bad for nasty foreigners?” The Ravenclaw girl, Penelope asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
“I feel bad for anyone that has to deal with tossers like the both of you!” Remus said, looking at her and Shelley. He stood up from his seat ignoring James and Sirius calling out for him. He walks out the doors and goes back to his room. He paces around the room, coming to terms on what he just said to Shelly and the other girl. He felt bad for calling them that name but he just got so angry.
How can people make fun of other people suffering, he asks himself. He had lost count on how many times he’s cried himself to sleep during his first year coming to Hogwarts. Being alone and afraid that someone will find out his wolf secret. He checks the clock on the nightstand and notices it's almost time for his first class. He grabs his books from his trunk and hopes he doesn’t see Shelley or the other girl.
He started to grow worried as he walked to class that Lily would be angry at him for calling her friend a wanker. He was surprised when Lily hugged him when they saw each other for the third class of the day.
“I can’t believe her!” Lily told him when she unwrapped her arms from him.
“Don’t tell anymore but sometimes I get homesick. I’m in tears in the tub.” She admits to him.
“You know how I feel about bullies.” Remus tells her and she nods at him knowing all too well about bullies. She was a victim like him, she was bullied heavily in her first year for being a muggle-born and sometimes even now.
When lunch began he was walking with Peter who didn’t say much about the incident and Remus was grateful for it. They talked about their class they had last period. As he walks in he sees you sitting with the same younger student. You were smiling and so was the kid.
The kid had a book open in front of you and Remus smiles at your choice of writing utensil. You were using a pen instead of a quill and you were writing down on a regular notebook instead of parchment paper.
The kid kept talking while you nodded and wrote frantically.
Everything seems to be going well, Shelley had decided to eat with her friend, Penelope at the other table. James and Sirius came soon into the hall talking enthusiastically about quidditch.
“Guys! Guys!” Remus flinched when a group of Hufflepuff students came beside him and stared ahead at the Slytherin table.
Remus looks ahead as well to see what all the fuss is about. Lance, from house Ravenclaw is in his last year and everyone knows him for being a bully. He was pure-blooded so he thought everyone who wasn’t was beneath him. He usually picks on the muggle born and the half bloods from any house. Of course no one interfered because they didn’t want to get bullied as well. Lance’s blue eyes widen as he walks into the great hall and makes his way to the kid sitting across from you.
“He’s such a twat for always picking on Ruben.” The Hufflepuff next to him tells the group.
“Ruben is the kid?” Sirius asks and they all nod as Lance gets behind Ruben and pulls on his hair making him yelp. Remus has never seen someone's eyes grow hard so quickly. The smile you had on disappeared. The hall grows quiet when you stand up from your seat.
“Get the fuck away from him.” It was not usual for Lance to have someone stand up to him. He was caught by surprise from your words.
“What did you say?” Lance said with a disbelief chuckle.
“Get. The. Fuck. Away. From. Him.” The great hall is quiet and Remus noticed a few teachers had risen up from their seats when they noticed what was going on.
“What’s going on here?” McGonagall had walked towards the table and stared at Lance then at you.
“Nothing, Professor McGonagall. Just having a chat with my friend Ruben.” Lance said, taking a step back while still staring at you.
Ruben was almost in tears by the whole thing. Professor McGonagall walks Lance back to his table.
“She just placed a death mark on herself.” One of the Hufflepuff near Remus said, shaking his head. Lance was staring daggers at you and you kept your eyes on him showing no fear, just hate. You didn’t take your eyes away from him until he sat down and spoke with his friends.
“You might just win your bet. She got balls.” James says, turning back around to Sirius who turned as well to continue on with his meal.
“What bet?” Lily asked the boys and they got quiet real fast. James being whipped for Lily ratted them out and she shook her head, telling Sirius how horrible that is.
“I betted that she won't sleep with anyone, Lily!” The redhead girl shook her head as Marlene copied her. Remus kept silent as he glanced over the table and saw you grabbing Ruben’s bag. You and the kid started to walk out of the great hall after collecting your things.
He was surprised when he saw you walking inside the classroom. You were a few minutes late for charms class. The professor grabbed the slip from your hands and pointed at an empty seat in the back. Remus almost drops the quill in his hand as you pass him to sit on his row. Remus usually stayed in the back because he was tall. A Hufflepuff girl, Nancy sat in the middle between you and him.
In the corner of his eyes he noticed you had taken out the same book as before and a pen.
The Charm professor called out your name as he walked towards you. The student laughed when he told you that there is no pen and notebooks allowed only quill and parchment paper.
“I’m sorry. Mr. Robinson. I‘m still learning how to use the feather thing.” You told him, looking up at him.
“First, it’s called a quill and you're a witch now so you better start learning fast how to use it. Second of all, it’s Professor Robinson. Things are different here, Miss.”
“Yes, Professor Robinson.” Remus looks away by the tone of your voice. You sounded so defeated. Professor Robinson walks away and continues with his lesson. Nancy leans over to you when you grab the quill from your bag and the ink.
“Hold it like this.” She whispered to you showing you how to handle your quill properly.
Remus goes back to write his notes, he hoped you realize not everyone in this school were mean. There were some students who were kind. Throughout the class, his eyes would glance over Nancy to you.
After class Remus walks to the Gryffindor common room. Making it inside, he heard chattering and looked over to see Lily and Mary Macdonald.
“Hey, Remus!” Lily said, waving him to come over towards them. They were sitting on the couch by the fireplace. Remus sits on the other side as Mary hands him a box of chocolates they were eating. His eyes widened and they giggled at his expression.
Lily chuckles when Remus is wiggling his fingers trying to decide which one to take. James and Sirius came with their Quidditch uniforms on. Lily frowned when she saw them walking towards them.
“I thought you guys had practice?” Lily asked and Remus looked over at them with a frown when they didn’t say anything. The guys just looked at each other for a brief moment.
“Oh fuck, Sirius have nothing to say. It must be bad.” Mary said, trying to lighten up the mood but James and Sirius didn’t say anything. They sat on the couch across from them instead.
“They canceled practice.” James said and Lily glanced over at Remus. It had to be more, James would be in tears if practice was canceled. He took quidditch very seriously.
“Why?” Remus asked, grabbing another chocolate from the box. Sirius takes a deep breath.
“The word is going around that the new girl is muggle born.”
‘Shit.’ Remus says to himself. He was right.
“She didn't know what it meant, they asked her about her parents and she told them they weren’t wizards. Those snakes dragged her by the feet to the quidditch field and slimed her while chanting mud blood.” Sirius said. Lily and Mary dropped their mouths open in shock. Sirius and James glance at each other. They were famous for their pranks. Being slimed in the field was a good idea but they didn’t like how you began to cry and how confused you looked about the whole thing.
“Never seen Professor McGonagall look so mad before. She started yelling.” James said, leaning back on the couch crossing his arms over his chest.
“Did you see the new girl?” Lily asked and James nodded. “Yeah, the other professors had to help her off the field.”
“Blimey.” Remus mumbled as the door of the common room burst open and Shelly walked in laughing with a group of students. Remus rolls his eyes when he hears your name being whispered. This year was going to be rough, he tells himself while popping the piece of chocolate in his mouth.
“Y/n?” you heard a whisper of your name. You slowly sat up, rubbing your eyes with your hands tiredly, you let them adapt to the dark environment and finally saw a shadow in front of you, the cons of sleeping with your window open.
You squinted your eyes, trying to figure out who could it be “Sirius?” you asked, confused to see him in your room when you were on summer break. As you got up your remembered he was supposed to be in his own house, with his parents.
Worried, you came by his side, cupping his face between your hands “What’s wrong?” Sirius could only let out a sob, wrapping his arms around you, resting his cheek at the top of your head and letting the tears fall from his eyes to your hair.
His silence alarmed you more than anything, you gently pulled away and could only remark the way he winced when you touched his chest “Sirius…” you took a closer look at his face, and saw the blood at the corner of his mouth. You gasped, your finger tracing a big scratch on his cheek.
You gave him time to speak “I tried to talk to them… I really did” he broke down into tears and you felt your heart shatter inside your chest. Sirius was the type to let other people see when something was wrong, you wonder how hard what he went through was to accept to let you see him this weak.
You had to take a deep breath and you were worried to cry in front of him, you couldn’t right now you had to be strong for him like he always did for you. “What did they do to you?” you felt tears on the verge of your eyes and hoped really really hard they wouldn’t fall.
Sirius didn’t say anything and just looked at you with a sad smile “We need to get you clean up” you tried to hide the trembling of your voice as you spoke, as carefully as you could brushing a strand of hair out of Sirius’ face.
“But- What about your parents?” You were in the middle of the night and he didn’t want the noise to wake them up. But to be honest he was more worried about them finding him covered in bruises and wounds and asking themselves what kind of friend he was to their daughter.
You looked at him as if he said the most stupid thing ever “They don’t care, we have a bigger problem” you pointed at his blood-stained shirt, not wanting to know what it was hiding.
You took his hand in yours and dragged him to your bathroom, making him sit down on the toilet “Sirius…” you looked down at him and had to stop yourself from screaming as you saw him under the light.
He looked miserable, he had a scratch on his cheek and looked like he had been punched. And he seemed so so exhausted and tired.
Your hands came to the top button of his shirt “Can I take this off?” Sirius nodded, looking absently at the tilled wall in front of him. Carefully, you took off his white shirt, staring at the biggest bloodstain.
The clothe fell off and you could see the extent of the damage. With watering eyes, you searched for what you needed to clean him. “It’s going to sting a bit I’m sorry” Sirius didn’t even reacted, he just spaced out.
It’s in a heavy silence that you cleaned and disinfected his wounds, you tried to be as gentle as possible but Sirius still winced every time the cotton disk met his skin.
“It’s over” you murmured, observing he was tired and was almost falling asleep in your bathroom. You guided him to your bedroom, letting him steady himself on you as you both walked.
He laid down on your bed, exhausted, you sat next to him and grabbed his hand, stroking his skin with your thumb “ Are you okay?”
“Better now” you brushed his hair out of his face and leaned in to leave a small kiss to his forehead, he could feel warmth embrace his entire face. You got up, you were going to sleep on the couch to let him rest “Can you stay? Please?”
You stopped. You couldn’t resist and slipped under the cover next to him, he got closer to you, resting his head on your chest as he wrapped his arms around your waist “Thank you so much” Sirius’ voice quivered as he buried his head in your neck, crying silently.
There was a question that was burning your mouth since the beginning “W-why did you came here?” you hated how you made it sound, it sound like you were reaproching him to find safety by your side.
Sirius lifted his head, confused “I- I mean- I thought you would prefer going to James’” which was true, you didn’t get why he didn’t make his way to the Potter’s house, his best friend and almost brother, especially since it was closer to the Black’s mansion than yours was.
Sirius offered you a soft smile “You’re the first person I thought about when I told myself I needed to be safe. Not James or Remus or whoever, you” if you were able to keep your tears before, you were crying now. Your hand came behind his head, pushing his face in the crook of your neck, keeping him as close as you could.
“Thank you for trusting me. I love you Sirius, I really do. I couldn’t handle seeing you hurt again” Sirius was crying as much as you were, he never needed more to hear someone loved him, it wasn’t an exaggeration to say he had a brush with death tonight.
“I love you too” he didn’t know if you said it romantically or not, he wished you did, but he couldn’t care right now. He hoped you knew how much you meant to him, you were his everything, and he was glad he was able to finally find peace by your side.
Sirius quickly drifted away, clutching at you for the rest of the night. When you woke up the boy was still asleep next to you, you looked down at him, loving how peaceful he looked compared to a few hours ago, the bruises were still visible on his chest but they were less swollen, you were glad he was less in pain.
Carefully, you got up and made your way to the kitchen, hoping to make breakfast before Sirius would wake up. On the counter you saw a paper note of your parents telling you they wouldn’t be home soon, they wanted to spend the day doing second-hand goods in the neighbouring villages.
It’s relaxed that you started cooking scrambled eggs, but unfortunately it didn’t last long. Soon a scream resonated in the house, you rushed to your room and found there a panting and sweating Sirius “What’s wrong?” you asked panicked as you sat next to him, quickly pulling him into a tight hug.
Sirius couldn’t help but cry “I woke up alone, I was so scared. Thought I was back there” he murmured in your neck, truly panicked.
“I’m so sorry” you apologized again and again until Sirius was calmed down. “I made breakfast” as you said this, you realised how your eggs are probably burning down the kitchen. “Oh shit”
You rushed down the stairs, wiggling your hand in front of you to make your way through the dark smoke, Sirius following you behind. When everything was secured he rested his hand on your shoulder “I’m sorry it’s my fault”
You turned around, pressing your finger on his chest, making sure he wasn’t injured there “Hey! Don’t you dare thinking it’s your fault. I would burn a thousands eggs for you, okay?” you tone was firm and convincing enough that Sirius knew he could never apologize for this again.
“Okay” he chuckled. He looked around, the smoke leaving the room by the window. He glanced at the box of eggs, there were four left “Let’s make breakfast!”
In this moment, his family was the least thing in his mind. All he was thinking was making the best scrambled eggs you ever had, hoping it could make you forget the burned ones.
He started to cook and felt your stare on him “What?” he asked with a smile. You hated that you found him so boyfriend, cooking shirtless in your kitchen when you weren’t even together, you didn’t even know if he liked you.
But this time you let your intrusive thoughts win, leaning forward to capture his lips in a long kiss you didn’t want to break until he was pulling away. But for you delight he didn’t wait before kissing you back.
“Woah,” he said when he broke the embrace. You felt your entire face turning hot, regretting your move for a second, fortunately, Sirius reassured you quickly “You have the best way to make my life better” he said before kissing you again.
🍒//any marauder and accidental boners in class or just any inconvenient situation really :) (love ur writing !!)
i picked sirius bc i <3 him and haven’t written much for him yet (hope that’s okay!!)<33 nsfw tones, 16+!!
You giggle as Sirius squirms, crossing his legs in a fruitless effort to conceal his raging hard-on; of course he’d get one in the middle of transfiguration, for crying out loud.
“It’s not funny,” he snaps, furrowing his brow.
“It’s a little bit funny, Siri,” you mumble, biting your lip although a smile still pushes its way through.
“I hate you.”
“You love me.”
“Not anymore. I’ll never speak to you again,” he says.
“Liar,” you lilt, “Besides, I have other ways to get you talking.” Your hand grazes over the tops of his thighs, nails scratching gently, teasing.
“You wouldn’t.”
“I would.” He laughs in a way that lets you know he doesn’t find your joke funny in the slightest. “C’mon, baby. Don’t be like that,” you murmur.
“You’re gonna regret that joke later,” he says through gritted teeth, squeezing your leg with a little more force than necessary. James snickers from the next desk over, kicking your ankle under the table.
“Fuck off, James.” Sirius goes to lunge at him, only to be stopped by your arms around his middle.
“I’m sorry, Siri. I love you,” you whisper, kissing his shoulder through his shirt.
“I love you too, but you’re still getting punished.”
“Hey!”
dating young!sirius black (remote island au)
au headcanon where you and young!sirius black flee the country to live on a remote island and raise baby harry instead of going to azkaban
part i: dating sirius black at hogwarts would include:
for most of your time at hogwarts, you had always found sirius and the rest of the marauders quite insufferable. though he’s had his eye on you since third year, he never thought he’d have a shot with the stunning ravenclaw girl at the top of their class.
sirius is too arrogant for your liking and he’s a shameless flirt. he’s the kind of hot guy that knows he’s hot. you’ve heard the rumors: that he’s a ladies man, that he knows how to do things most of your class has only read about in books. during your fifth year, you lost count of just how many girls he snogged first term alone. not that you were counting.
he’s the life of the party and manages to pull the attention of every room he enters. this fact simultaneously intrigues you and gets under your skin.
it’s not until after the holidays during sixth year that he begins to pursue you, and you’re sure that you can resist his childish, immature, over the top attempts to charm you. boy were you wrong.
“you’re just interested in me because you’ve run out of girls in our year to snog, black.” “no, i haven’t! there are plenty others but none i want to snog as much as you, darling. come to hogsmeade with me this weekend.” “oh, i don’t think so, black. better luck next time.” “so you’re saying there’ll be a next time?”
you only roll your eyes in response to his cheeky grin, even though you have to admit that you’re flattered.
each attempt continues to chisel away at your tough exterior. the shield you’ve tried best to build around yourself – the sirius black-resistant one – is beginning to fall. it’s not until sirius has a big fight with regulus that you find him sulking in the astronomy tower long after class is over. it doesn't take long for his handsome playboy facade to fall and when he confides in you about his family, you begin to understand why he lives with the potters.
you spend all night together star-gazing, giggling, and keeping each other company in the astronomy tower before drifting off to sleep. when you’re caught by both of your heads of house sneaking back into the common room the next morning, it earns you both two weeks of detention and a howler from your parents that, you decide, was entirely worth it.
you and sirius have your first kiss only a week later while polishing and dusting the various potion bottles in slughorn’s office. while trying his damndest to make you laugh, sirius ends up knocking over a vile of moonseed and as you both scramble to clean it up, you lean over and kiss him.
sirius on the other hand is absolutely smitten. gone are the days of being hogwarts’ most eligible bachelor. he’s as loyal as a dog (sorry, but i couldn’t help myself).
speaking of, you give him quite the lecture after learning about his status as an illegal and unregistered animagus starting with, ‘you could’ve gotten killed’ to ‘do you know how much trouble you’ll be in if anyone finds out’ and ending with ‘you’re such a good friend, siri.’ you can tell he gets off on breaking the rules and you can’t believe you’re falling in love with him.
most days sirius loves to lay his head in your lap while you study, stretching his legs out on the couch of the gryffindor common room while you run your fingers through his hair. james and remus never let him live down the fact that he once took you on a picnic to the black lake, while peter admired his friend’s attempt at romance.
sirius rarely studies, yet still manages to get top marks which drives you absolutely insane.
the rest of the marauders adore you and love having an excuse to tease sirius shamelessly over how lovesick he’s become.
you lose your virginity to sirius the day before you leave for summer break between your sixth and seventh year. it’s filled with whispered ‘i love you’s, shy smiles, and finding out that all the rumors about him were true.
you agree to visit a few weeks before you have to return to school and decide to leave out the fact that you’ll both be unsupervised when pitching the idea to your parents.
you write to each other all summer long – some of which are very nsfw. he’s recently come into an inheritance from a sympathetic uncle and has managed to get his own place. sirius now has his own place and a head full of all kinds of things he wants to do with you.
you have a hard time adjusting to being hogwarts IT couple as you enter your seventh year. you've never been one for the spotlight but sirius is worth it.
seventh year is filled with double dates with #jilly to hogsmeade, snogging in broom closets, and movie nights in the marauders dormitory using lily's projector and an old bedsheet.
sirius makes you brave and you make him happier than he ever believed he deserved.
you’re at every quidditch game cheering him on, even when your own house is playing against gryffindor.
in the last few months of your seventh year, while lily and james can’t stop talking about marriage, sirius is shocked to discover that you don’t want to get married at all. because of this, you decide to go your separate ways after graduation, which only lasts a few months after you hook up during lily and james’ engagement party and decide that you absolutely can’t live without each other.
The crowd cheered as the Quarterback, James Potter caught the football, throwing it over to Sirius Black; the Wide Receiver. He jumped into the air with a massive smile on his face, catching the ball in his arms; before making a bee-line to the end zone. The crowd was on its feet in an instant and roared even louder. You jumped as best as you could in your giant mascot suit, cheering as your team scored. You were the mascot called Wolfy the Wolverine Wizard. Basically, for each game, you suited up in the smelly costume for a couple of hours; dancing and hyping up the crowd. Which, you were surprisingly good at. In school, outside of the mascot suit, you were shy; and honestly, a bookworm. But, being hidden inside that suit gave you the courage and power to be more 'out there' as your parents would say it.
You didn't care for football too much, but the offer to be the mascot... You couldn't say no. The principal, Mr. Dumbledore, said they would pay you... Twenty-four dollars an hour. More than you honestly made in a week at your part-time job at your aunt's flower shop. On top of the good pay, you found out that they give out amazing scholarships to those who were high school mascots... Lucky you. And honestly, you did get used to the sweaty smell that aerated the suit, and the darkness that constantly engulfed you. The only light you got was from the cartoonish mouth of the Wolverine you dressed as. Which, you thought, was quite cute in its purple wizard robe. It even had little stars on it.
As the game continued, your team would only need a few more points to win, and you were excited to get the suit off and go home. You really wanted to go home and do your homework before you kicked back and watched your favorite tv show. But, you quickly had to snap out of your daydream, swiftly getting back into character; skipping sideways across the sidelines, trying to hype up the crowd. Waving your large fuzzy paws, you were able to get the crowds on the many bleachers to start the wave. A proud accomplishment.
Stomping your heavy feet and clapping your hands, you and the crowd chanted "Go, Go, Wolverines," as the play continued. You watched for the briefest of moments, watching as James got tossed the ball. James Potter was the most popular kid in all of Rowena High School. You remembered in Freshman year he used to be a ladies' man before he met his current girlfriend, Lily Evans. Ever since then, he never flirted or gave another girl at the school a second glance. You thought he was kind of whipped for the redhead.
And then there was Remus Lupin. He was Coach Hooch's assistant, he came up with most of the plays, being a little genius. In school, he was always carrying a book with him or a clipboard. He wasn't as popular as James, but he was still friends with him. Remus was actually an acquaintance of yours. Having three classes with him, you thought he was sweet and smart; also having been paired up for most of your projects. He gave the best book recommendations.
There was also Peter Pettiegrew, the third member of their little group. He was less popular than Remus, and he was always a bit awkward. You did feel bad for him though. He did get bullied a lot, some people around the school called him 'Wormtail.' You tried to talk with him, befriend him, but he’d always try and avoid you, making up excuses for where he needed to be. You gave up after a while, you didn’t want to make him uncomfortable.
And, lastly, the fourth and last member of The Marauders, as they called themselves, was Sirius Black. Now, he was the second most popular guy at your school. Sirius was charming, witty, funny, and not-to-mention a ladies' man. (You even knew his cousin, she was kind of a loner and a frantic shopper at Hot Topic; you didn’t really hang with her and her bad crowd). For your three and a half years of high school at Rowena High... You had seen Sirius with a lot of girls. It was like he always had a girl on his arm, or pinning them to their locker, or sneaking off, and skipping classes. His girl problems were almost as bad as the constant pranking problems he'd have with James. He was annoying to you, to say the least. But, as annoying as he was, you couldn’t ignore how handsome he was. Though, out of the four boys, you'd rather be stuck on an island with Remus. At least with him, he'd probably know how to get off the thing.
Before you knew it, the crowd was going wild. Your team won! You watched as the team lifted Sirius into the air on their shoulders, cheering and chanting his name. Letting him down, he was smiling so widely it looked painful, holding a trophy in his hand. He was laughing as the rest of the students rushed towards him. They were all hugging, congratulating him. As the cheering died down, you stayed back as most of the crowd and team left to go inside. You let out a sigh, heading your way to the empty bleachers to sit down. It was nice to finally take a break after so long, but it was so worth it. Letting out another sigh, you reached up to lift the mascot's head off of you, finally breathing in some good ol' fresh air. You blinked your eyes at the abusive light as your eyes adjusted before you set your mascot's head on the ground.
"I didn't realize you were a girl," You heard a voice speak up, surprising you and making you whip around. Sirius Black stood a few feet away, still in his football gear, but his helmet under his arm. "Or pretty." He finished, giving you a grin as you turned away, fighting the blush that would gradually make its way to your face.
"Thank, I guess." You muttered, "And, yes... I'm a girl. Not all mascots are guys." You rolled your eyes as Sirius shook his head, chuckling lightly.
"No... I didn't mean it in a bad way... Uh, I just didn't know you were a girl is all." He responded, scratching the back of his neck nervously as you shrugged the best you could.
"I'm not offended," You assured him, standing straight again, "It's cool.
"Cool, cool, cool…” Sirius stared at you briefly before snapping out of his gaze, “Uh, I actually wanted to know how you did that cartwheel. You know, with the mascot's head and all." Sirius asked, as you grabbed the mascot's head and stood up.
"Magic. Now, if you'll excuse me... I need to get home. Uh... Good game." You gave him a small smile before heading off to the school.
Sirius watched as you left, feeling slightly disappointed. He really liked you. And couldn’t believe he never bumped into you in the halls or anything. How did he miss a girl like you? Maybe we could ask you out sometime. Letting out a sigh, Sirius walked over to Remus, who was helping clean up.
"Hey, Moony, who's the girl in the mascot costume?" He asked his friend, wanting to know your name; hoping Remus knew who you were considering he was the Coach Assistant.
Remus looked up from what he was doing, "Oh, Y/N? Yeah, her name is Y/N. Why? Are you going to try and ask her out too?" Remus asked, pausing what he was doing to cross his arms, "'Cause it's not going to work."
Sirius raised an eyebrow, "Really? Why? She seems like a nice girl."
Remus sighed, shaking his head, "Yeah, she is a nice girl... But that's not the problem here. You are a ladies' man, a casanova, if you will. Y/N is a smart girl... She won't fall for you." He sighed once more, “And honestly, we all know you get tired of her and dump her. Like all the other girls you’ve dated.”
Sirius rolled his eyes, ignoring Remus’s last comment, and adjusting his helmet in his gloved hands, "Girls love me, everyone loves me!" He exclaimed as Remus gave him a deadpan look.
"I don't love you and that Snape kid doesn't love you. I bet more than eighty percent of people at this school hate you. Especially Mrs. McGonagall since you pranked her and cheated on her test in Sophomore year. Which, by the way, if you want to even have the slightest chance with this girl... Cut the pranks and the bullying. She's friends with Snape."
Sirius sputtered out a laugh, "Snivellus? She's friends with that loser?"
Remus sighed, "You're hopeless."
Sirius huffed before he headed back into the school and the locker rooms. With a pep in his step, Sirius began to plan how to ask you out. He was confident that you would say yes. Of course, you would, he was Sirius Black.
~~~
"He talked to you?" Severus asked, shocked before his wide eyes narrowed and he gave the ground a judgemental look. "I hate that guy." He muttered, before turning to you beside him on the bench. "You can't talk to him. He's no good. You know what they do to me." Severus practically pleaded, as you nodded and gave him a small sigh.
"Yeah, yeah, I know. But I couldn't not answer his compliment."
Severus was one of your best friends. You had met him on the first couple of days of Freshman year. Severus was a small, shy guy, eyes always on the ground and head down. He was smart though, which you quickly found out in class. You had noticed that Severus usually worked alone and didn't really talk to anyone, so you decided to talk to him. It was a rough start, but as the weeks went by, Severus grew to trust you. Soon enough, you were hanging out whenever you could; at lunch, studying, free hours... You trusted Severus with your life.
And you trusted his word and honored his opinion. You knew what James and Sirius usually did to Severus. Pranking and overall bullying. It was terrible in Freshman year, getting intense at times before it slowly fizzled out in Senior year. Yes, sometimes they called him names and stuff like that. But at least they weren’t giving him wedgies anymore. You grew to dislike James and Sirius. Mostly James, for he was the leader of the bullying. And Sirius, the leader of the pranks.
Severus looked up at you, bewildered once more, "He complimented you? That... That idiot."
"What?" You asked, glancing up from your sketchbook, "Why can't he compliment me? It was harmless." You shrugged and Severus huffed, kicking his beat-up black converse in the dirt.
"What did he say?" Severus asked softly, begrudgingly.
"He said that I was pretty." You answered simply, Severus immediately groaned after you finished, tilting his head back before he hunched over; raking his hands through his hair. You narrowed your own eyes, "What? Am I not deserving of a kind compliment?" You asked, raising an eyebrow.
"No... You do deserve a good compliment. It's just the person who gave you the compliment is the problem." Severus sighed deeply, frustratedly, as he sat up and looked at you. "You have to avoid him, Y/N/N. He's a playboy. You know it."
You nodded, finishing your sketch of the flowers a few feet from you. "Yeah, I know. I know he's trouble." You shut your sketchbook, sliding your pencil in the coils of it. "But... Who knows..." You stood up, grabbing your backpack as the bell rang. "He might’ve changed his ways…"
Severus's eyes widened comically wide as he stumbled to stand and make his way up to you, matching your walking pace as he struggled to adjust the backpack straps on his shoulders. "You won't." Severus gasped, and you hummed, grinning lightly.
"No... Sev... I won't. And I won't speak to him or seek him out..." Severus sighed in relief, "Unless I have to." You finished as you headed off to class, waving goodbye to your friend.
~~~
Sliding your books into your locker, you slammed it closed with a sigh as you locked it, turning to head down the corridor; you jumped back. Standing before you was Sirius Black, a grin on his face, and his hands firmly stuffed into the pockets of his black jeans. You stared up at him, shifting in your spot as his grin widened. "Hi," You breathed out.
"Hey." He replied, moving his hand onto the lockers, leaning against him as he looked down at you. "How are you?" He questioned, causing you to give him an amused smile.
"I'm good, and also late to class. So... If you'll excuse me." You stepped around him, heading to class as Sirius jogged to catch up with you.
"Well, I won't keep you long, Y/N. Just want to ask you something." He spoke and you paused, looking up at him with a raised eyebrow.
"How do you-" You hummed, realization dawning over your features as you smiled, "Oh... Remus told you who I am?" And Sirius nodded.
"Yeah, anyway. Wanna go out sometime?" He asked, causing you to blink in surprise.
"Me?" You repeated, confused; surprised. Looking at Sirius, you cursed him and his good looks. Why did he have to be so handsome? No, Y/N, don't fall for his tricks.
"Yes, you. On a date with me." Sirius nodded again with a smirk, wiggling his eyebrows.
You scoffed, shaking your head. "I don't think so. If you don't know... Mr. Sirius..." You glared up at him, "You bully my best friend."
You started off back down the hall. Sirius's mouth opened and closed in surprise before he rushed back over to you.
"Listen, I'm sorry about what I've done to Sniv-" You turned to give him a hard glare, quickly shutting him up. "S... Snape." He finished, making you raise an eyebrow skeptically.
"I'm not the one you should be apologizing to, Sirius." You scolded, causing him to gulp nervously, his brown eyes wide. You stared up at him, inspecting his face, features, and overall expression, before sighing, shaking your head, and heading to class once more.
"Y/N, wait!" Sirius called, running to catch up to you. He reached out and held onto your arm, turning you around slightly. "Look, what can I do?"
You stared at him, confused more than ever. You knew Sirius always got a girl on his arm, it was almost too easy for him to grab a date. Every girl in that school worshiped him. Why was he so desperate to go on a date with you? You didn't like it. Either it was some sick prank or... Maybe he just liked the chase. With a frown on your face, you shook your head. "There is nothing you can do." You mumbled before continuing on your walk. Sirius watched you leave until you disappeared around the corner, sighing.
~~~
"I don't know what to do. She wants nothing to do with me." Sirius basically whined, pushing his food around on his tray. Meatloaf. Sirius hated meatloaf.
Remus sighed heavily, rolling his eyes as he put his fork down. "You must stop being such a drama queen, Sirius. You cannot force her to like you."
“Crimes against humanity.” Peter muttered, eating his lunch.
Sirius huffed, resting his hand under his chin, and slouching in his seat. "I'm not a drama queen. I just don't get it. I thought she'd say yes."
Remus paused his eating to stare at Sirius, narrowing his eyes as he analyzed him. Remus noticed the sad, longing look in Sirius's eyes, the way his shoulders slumped as he gazed off into space. ‘Space’ as in staring across the lunchroom at you. Remus narrowed his eyes further, his lips pressing together tightly. "Sirius," He called softly, snapping the other boy out of whatever trance he had been in. "Are you... Do you like her?" His question gained Peter's and James's attention as well.
Sirius huffed indignantly, glaring at his best friend. "Of course I do... I did ask her out."
Remus rolled his eyes, "No, I mean, do you like her?"
Sirius looked at Remus, confused, "Why would I ask her out if I didn't like her?" He asked, causing Remus to sigh again.
"That isn't what I meant, Sirius."
Peter cleared his throat, "He means to say, do you fancy her?"
Sirius's eyes widened, before he cast his eyes down to his tray, clearing his throat. Suddenly the large room felt hot and Sirius's face began to flush, the tip of his ears red. James watched in awe before he slammed his hand on the lunch table with a laugh. "Ha! Sirius is in love!" He exclaimed, Sirius quickly covered James's mouth with his hand, shushing him violently.
"Shut it, Potter." He growled at his friend, pulling his hand away slowly. He looked at his friends, who all seemed rather impressed with how flustered Sirius had become. "I'm not... In love with her." He muttered, picking up a piece of bread and shoving it in his mouth.
"Really? Are you sure?" James continued to taunt him, smiling innocently.
"Shut. Up." Sirius snapped, his cheeks flushed as he glared at them.
"Sorry, but you are pretty red, Padfoot." Peter pointed out. Sirius rolled his eyes at that, taking another bite of his meal; ignoring Peter's words entirely.
~~~
Opening your locker, you paused, finding a rose sitting inside, tucked behind a piece of paper. Your eyes widened as you grabbed the note, unfolding it slowly, squinting as your eyes scanned over it.
'Roses are red, violets are blue, I'd really like to go on a date with you.'
You huffed, twisting the perfect red rose in your fingers as you closed your locker. Knowing exactly who gave you the wonderful rose, you sighed, rolling your eyes. You just hoped that Sirius would give up sooner rather than later.
The next day though was similar. You had found some chocolate M&Ms in your locker. And then the next, you found a small bear plush in your locker. You thought it was cute, a red bear with shiny black eyes. You named him Griffon. But, you weren't falling for it. Even though, for the next few weeks, Sirius left gifts in your locker everyday. From flowers, to snacks, to plushies.
Opening your locker three weeks later, you sighed, finding a small rectangular velvet box. For a moment, you freaked out but realized it was too big for an engagement ring. You huffed, chuckling to yourself. If Sirius had proposed, then he really was committed to convincing you.
"Y/N, uh, hey." You heard, turning to see Sirius beside you. He looked as he usually did, hand stuffed in his pockets, and the first two buttons of his black button-up undone. He looked almost nervous, which was odd for the usually confident boy.
"What are you doing here?" You asked, raising your eyebrow curiously.
"I wanted to talk to you." He replied with a shrug.
You shook your head, smiling awkwardly as you grabbed the most recent present from your locker before closing it. "It's too early for this. I'm going to class." You spoke as Sirius noticed the box in your hand.
"Do you like your gift?" He asked, giving you a small smile, eyes glancing at you, to the box, and back; eyeing you expectantly.
You looked at the box, "Uh, I haven't opened it yet." You looked back up at him. “And I have no idea how you keep breaking into my locker.” You muttered after.
"Oh, uh, it's a necklace. I thought you'd like it." He spoke up, “You know… Saw it and thought of you.” He muttered and you shook your head, shoving the box in his hands.
"Another reason why I don't need it." You shook your head, "Gifts won't magically make me say yes to a date with you, Sirius." You turned to go down the hall.
"What will?" He suddenly asked, gaining the attention of a few peers already in the hall as he called to you. "What can I do?"
You turned, shuffling in your spot as you adjusted your backpack strap on your shoulder. You pursed your lips, staring at the young man before you as you thought. You watched as Sirius stared back at you with his sad brown puppy eyes. Again, he seemed nervous, and anxious as he waited impatiently for your answer. You felt as if you were being pulled in two opposite directions. Your heart going one way and your brain going the other. Your eyes shifted down towards the floor. You couldn't help it. He had a really beautiful face. His dark hair was curly and grazed his shoulders. It suited him very much. Staring at his black hightop converse, you sighed. Scoffing you shook your head, upset with yourself.
"Apologize to Severus, stop calling him names, stop pranking him and other innocent people, stop bullying people in general, stop James from doing the same..." You ranted in one breath, breathing heavily as you ran a hand through your hand, frustratedly. Looking up, you look back up at Sirius, "And maybe... Maybe I'll go on that date with you." You finished quietly, looking away from him when you saw him smile. A blush formed on your cheeks before you turned around, and walked away from him.
Sirius watched as you left down the hall, watching you until you turned the corner and disappeared, leaving him standing alone in the hallway as the second bell rang. He smiled as he looked down at the velvet box in his hand before putting it in his pocket for a rainy day. Adjusting his collar, Sirius sighed, he'd have to man up and apologize to Severus. That was his only option after all.
~~~
Walking with Lily outside before school, you heard a lot of chatter, more than usual. Confused, both you and Lily gave each other a glance before you turned the corner and found Sirius standing before Severus. A circle of other students were around them as if a fight was going to break out. Looking around the circle, you noticed James, Remus, and Peter. You bit your lip, anxiety chilling you to the bone as you and Lily ran over, pushing past your peers to get inside. Lily went straight to James, slapping him on the arm as she began to scold him, while you went to stand next to Remus.
"What is he doing, Remus?" You asked, "Is he going-"
"Nothing bad, I don't think, Y/N." Remus interrupted you before glancing at you and giving you a shrug, "Sirius has been acting weird all morning." You turned back to watch Sirius and Severus. Concerned and beyond worried for your friend's safety. What was Sirius doing? Was running through your head.
"Yo!" A kid yelled from the circling crowd, "You gonna fight or what?!"
Not long after the kid's question, most of the crowd began to chant. "Fight! Fight! Fight!"
As they continued to chant, Sirius shook his head, "Shut up would you!" He turned around at the circle around him. "What is wrong with you all?"
It was deathly silent, everyone watching as Sirius stood in front of Severus and crossed his arms. Severus looked furious, glaring at Sirius, while a few kids backed away a step, before leaving entirely.
"What do you want, Black?" Severus sneered, "Haven't you tortured me enough?"
"I want to talk." He said simply. There was silence for a few moments, nobody speaking as Severus narrowed his eyes at Sirius.
"What do you mean you want to talk, Black?"
You stared at Sirius hard as he dug his heel into the grassy ground, hands deeply stuffed in his jean pockets. Taking a deep breath, he lifted his gaze towards Severus, eyes meeting the other boy's before he spoke again, his voice calm, but firm; full of conviction.
"I want to... Apologize."
There was dead silence once more. Severus glared back at him, his jaw clenching tightly. "Please, sure you do. This is just a joke, a prank." Severus spoke, sarcasm dripping from his tone.
"No, this isn't a joke." Sirius said firmly, staring at the other boy before turning back to stare at the group of students who were still gathered together in the middle of the field, "I am sorry."
Severus scoffed, shaking his head slightly, crossing his arms, "Well, I guess there's nothing left to be done about that then." With that, Severus turned, walking off as he muttered under his breath. The rest of the crowd began to disperse, dispersing into groups of friends that went inside the school. A sigh left you as you glanced over at Sirius, biting your lip.
"That was intense." Remus sighed, as Peter shrugged and left as well.
"Dude," James began, confused, "Why did you apologize to that los- Ow! I mean... That... Dude?" He asked, rubbing his arm where Lily punched him.
Sirius turned to his friends and you, "It was the right thing to do." He began as James scoffed. "Listen, we're adults. Pranking someone, bullying... It's very immature. We're better than that." Sirius stated, looking directly at James before continuing. "We're not children anymore, James. We can't act like children anymore."
James let out a breathy laugh, before glancing at you and back at Sirius, "Oh, I get it! You're whipped!" He laughed even louder this time, "Wow, mate, I thought my best friend could never love anyone that much."
"James!" Lily snapped, annoyed.
"Come on, leave them alone," Remus added.
You continued to stare at Sirius, mouth slightly agape as you tried to process what just happened. You were shocked and confused before realization dawned on you once more... Sirius was... Well, serious. He actually gave Severus an alright apology, and you understood why Severus didn't accept it. But... Maybe you were right. Maybe Sirius did change.
~~~
Running along the sidelines in your mascot suit, you hyped up the team during the before-prom game. The team was about to run in to start the game, going up against Durmstrang Institute, who had beaten your school three years in a row. But you were hopeful, for some reason.
Soon the team ran out, your school cheering as they ran in. Your eyes followed Sirius, number three, as he waved to the crowd. His eyes landed on you in your suit, giving you a personal wave before getting in position.
"Twenty-two, forty-three, seventy-five...-"
"Wait!" Sirius cried out, stopping the game before it even started. You and the crowd of students watched, perplexed as Sirius jogged over to Remus, grabbing a mic from him. Tapping the top of the mic, the sound echoed through the large speakers on the light poles of the field. You furrowed your eyebrows under the suit as you watched Sirius as he cleared his throat, "I'd like to take a moment to say something before the game," His head tilted downwards slightly, his fingers fidgeting with the edge of the microphone as he took another deep breath. "I met this girl... And she is the most amazing person I've ever met." He paused, taking a deep breath and releasing it slowly.
"She made me realize a lot of things about me and the way I run my life." He said quietly, a smile playing on his lips, causing his dimples to show. "She helped me become a better person." Your heart began to beat rapidly in your chest, a small smile appeared on your lips. Your mind began to wonder where this story was going. "And..." He breathed out, "I'd like to ask her a question." He swallowed, his face contorted by nervousness, before looking down. "Y/N… Will you go to Prom with me?" Silence filled the air as you stared at him, shock and disbelief painted across your features, ones no one could see.
Swallowing, you walked over onto the field and to Sirius. Reaching up, you pulled off the mascot's mask, revealing your beautiful face as you smiled at Sirius. "Yes," You told him, nodding your head enthusiastically.
His face instantly broke out into a smile, one that lit up his entire face as his eyes shined. Pulling you into a hug, he squeezed you as tight as he could over your mascot suit, causing the audience to cheer.
"Thank you, thank you, thank you," Sirius muttered in your ear, not even minding your sweaty skin and hair. "I'll buy you ice cream. And a puppy. Do you want a puppy?" You couldn't help but chuckle as you placed your hands… Paws on his chest.
"Play the game." You ordered gently before grabbing your mascot's head. "Find me after the game, I'll give you my number."
"Deal." He winked, before putting on his helmet, knocking on the side of it before running back to his spot.
You headed back to the sidelines, going back to hyping the crowd as the game began. As you did your job, you watched the game, or watched Sirius, as much as you could. Your heart was racing still from his confession and question, and you felt giddy from happiness. You couldn't wait for Prom next Friday.
~~~
"What about this one, Sev?" You asked Severus who was beside you, arms crossed as you pointed to another dress.
"I can't believe you said yes to that jerk." Severus pouted, eyes cast to the ground of the small dress shop.
You sighed, letting go of the skirt of the green dress. "You saw what he did. He apologized. I know you don't trust him, but can you please pretend to be happy for me?" You begged, stepping closer to Severus, placing your hand on his shoulder as you looked up at him.
He stared at you, looking reluctant before letting out a soft sigh and nodding his head. "Alright, alright." He grumbled, holding up his hands as you smiled and hugged him. "I am happy for you, but I hate him." He mumbled against your cheek.
You chuckled as you pulled away, placing a quick kiss on his cheek. "Thank you, Sevy." You turned back to the dresses, walking slowly down the aisle, as Severus followed. "Did you ask anyone to prom? Or has anyone asked you?" You asked as you heard Severus sigh.
"Nope." He mumbled, "Don't want to go anyway. I have too much homework to do and I'm not interested in girls." You smiled softly as he rolled his eyes.
You shook your head, "No, you're only interested in Lily." You teased, causing Severus' face to turn bright red as he stuttered for words, trying to defend himself. "You've been crushing on her since I met you." You finished with a chuckle. You stopped, hand brushing against the fabric of another dress as you frowned slightly, "I wish your friendship with her didn't fall apart. But, what you said to her, and what she said to you... It's understandable. I just wish she could see how sweet you really are."
"Yeah. Me too." Severus sighed, his arms folded over his chest, "But it hurts when someone breaks your heart."
You nodded your head in agreement before your eyes landed on a dress. Rushing over, you took Severus by surprise as you grabbed his hand and dragged him along with you.
"Look at this one." You spoke, standing in front of the dress. "What do you think?"
"Uh... It's cute. Nice color, I think." Severus stated as you nodded, staring at the dress in awe.
"I'm gonna get this one." You stated, looking at Severus with determination before grabbing the dress and rushing towards the counter, "Excuse me, miss!" You called out as Severus watched you.
Even though he hated Sirius, Severus wanted you to be happy. And if you were happy, he was happy too.
~~~
In front of your mirror, you smoothed out the glittery tulle skirt, loving the way the navy blue dress looked on you. It was an evening gown, your mother called it, with a short v-neck, and short sleeves. The skirt flowed, swayed, and when you spun, it looked like a fairy tale come to life. You looked amazing like you knew you would. Slipping on your matching ankle-boot heels, you double and triple-checked your hair, before grabbing your small purse; making sure you had your phone and keys. Stepping out of your room, you headed down the stairs, your mother waiting for you at the bottom.
You gave her a small smile before looking nervously at the phone in her hands. "Just one, mom." You begged, "One picture.
She nodded, "Of course, dear. One picture of my little princess."
You groaned softly, "Mom."
"Stand up straight, okay maybe a little pose? Oh, you look beautiful." She ignored you, ordering you around for the picture. You simply stood, hands clasped together, wanting to get it over with. Clicking the button on her screen, she sighed, staring at her phone. "Thank you, now we can wait until your date arrives for the next one."
Your eyes widened as you rapidly shook your head, "No, mom, one pic. Aka, only me. I don't want you-"
"What?" Your mother asked, raising an eyebrow, "You don't want me to embarrass you?" You bit your lip as you hesitantly nodded. "Well," Your mother began, just as the doorbell rang, "That was what I was planning to do." She teased, before leaving the room.
"Mom!" You whispered-yelled as she walked over to the door. If your hair wasn't all done, you would've ran your hands through it as you heard your mother introducing herself to Sirius. Calming your racing heart and building up nerves, you turned the corner, spotting Sirius in the entranceway of your home, talking with your mother. You watched as Sirius glanced over at you, back to your mom, before quickly looking back over at you. freezing, Sirius turned to fully look at you, mouth slightly agape as he stared at you. He looked absolutely breathtaking as always, dapper in his black suit, and little bow tie.
Suddenly, you were being pulled out of your trance by your mother, "Y/n, darling," She whispered, "Go say hello, yeah? Don't be rude."
You cleared your throat, "Uh, hi." You greeted him, as he continued to stare at you in awe.
"You look perfect." He muttered loud enough for you to hear, making your cheeks flush in surprise.
"Oh! Thanks, you look really good too. Very nice. Very good." You inwardly cringed. You wanted the ground to swallow you up.
Your mother sighed, before she nudged you towards Sirius, "You two have fun, alright? Bring her home before ten." She instructed before heading further into the house.
The awkward silence between you two only lasted a moment or two before a small smile formed on Sirius's face, "Shall we go?"
"Yeah," You replied softly, following him outside. The sun was beginning to set as you closed the door behind you. Both of you walk down the driveway to his car. You didn't want to embarrass yourself further, so you were glad the ride to the school was a short one, because soon enough, you were there.
Entering the great hall of your school, you stood looking around the room, stunned. The entire room was decorated in its winter theme, 'Winter Wonderland.' There were fake snowflakes and icicles hanging from the ceiling, some lights were hung from the wall while others were lit up with fairy lights. There were tables filled with sweets, hot chocolates, and a chocolate fountain. There was even a band, playing instrumental versions of popular songs. You were amazed.
"Wow." You breathed out, turning your head to look at Sirius, finding him already looking at you.
"Wow indeed," He grinned softly, offering you his arm, "You ready, love?"
You blushed at the sound of the nickname he gave you, shyly nodding before he led you down the stairs. On the last step, you spotted Lily, who in turn, spotted you. Letting go of Sirius, you rushed over to her, Lily doing the same, the both of you meeting in the middle.
"Look at you!" Lily gushed, holding your hands in hers as she looked at your dress.
You smiled bashfully, "Thanks. You look stunning yourself." You complimented which made her blush, giving you a toothy smile. Lily's dress was a soft royal purple, littered with gold embellishments of leaves and flowers. It was off-the-shoulder, and the skirt shape was similar to yours but reminded you more of a princess gown than anything. Out of every girl there, she was the queen.
"That's what James has been telling me all night. That boy has been practically drooling." She giggled.
You laughed quietly, shaking your head at her comment. "Isn't he always?"
Looking around the room once more, you spotted Bellatrix, surprisingly. You were beyond surprised actually, seeing her wearing 'The Black Swan' dress that you saw in the window of an expensive boutique. The skirt was black tulle, with speckles of glitter, flowing out similar to yours and Lily's. The top was a matte black fabric, overlapped with the black tulle in jagged edges. If anything, that dress was made for Bellatrix.
Taking in more of the prom, you also spotted Gilderoy. With two girls on his arm. Typical. He was almost as bad as Sirius when it came to the ladies. But, it was understandable, Gilderoy's family was pretty famous, both being writers and best sellers. Moving your eyes around more, you even spotted Lucius and Narcissa. Looking poised and elegant as always. Lucius was in an all-black suit, while Narcissa was in a beautiful silver gown, with sheer sleeves and a glittery top bodice. It really looked good on her.
As the band began to play a slower song, you felt someone tap your shoulder. Turning you found Sirius, offering his hand out to you. "Would you like to dance?" He asked, and you nodded, nervously taking his hand, hoping your hands weren't sweaty. Gripping onto his hand, you felt him tug you closer, leading you out to the dance floor. Taking your time, you took a deep breath as Sirius guided you to the beat of the music. Slowly moving your feet along the rhythm, you smiled shyly up at Sirius, falling deep into his chocolate brown pools. His hand resting respectively on your waist, his hand holding yours in the air beside you, as your arm was placed on his shoulder.
He was so close to you, you could see the freckles dotting his cheeks and nose. He smelled like peppermint and fresh cologne, making your stomach churn pleasantly. You never thought you'd go to prom with anyone in your school, let alone Sirius Black. Yet here you were. Dancing in his arms, feeling his warmth against you, his hand gently wrapped around your waist. You swore that this moment would stay forever in your mind.
"Have I told you how gorgeous you are tonight?" Sirius murmured against your ear, making shivers run up and down your spine.
Slightly pulling away from him, you looked him in the eye, "No, but thank you."
"I should be thanking you," He chuckled softly, "It doesn't take a genius to know that you look absolutely beautiful. Even in that mascot costume." He bit his lip briefly, "But, seriously-" You sputtered a small giggle, earning a grin from Sirius as he continued, "Anyway... Thank you for agreeing to go with me. I didn't think you'd say yes... But who's ever had their first date at Prom?" He shrugged a shoulder as you looked up at him with a small smile.
"Probably a lot of people." You reasoned and Sirius hummed, "I never thought my first date with you was going to be at prom, though. If we are counting this as our first date, that is." You tilted your head slightly as Sirius raised an eyebrow.
"Are you saying that I can take you out on another first date?" He asked and you chuckled lightly, eyes drifting off to look around the room.
"Well, technically that would be a second date, but yes." You stated, biting your lip.
"We'll work on it." Sirius winked, pulling you closer to him so that your chest was brushing against each other. "So, tell me about yourself, YN/." He asked, the both of you swaying side to side.
"Me?" You asked, quirking your eyebrows, "What would you like to know?"
Sirius shrugged, "Have you always wanted to be a football furry?"
You gasped, slapping Sirius lightly on his shoulder as he laughed, making you pout slightly. "That's not very nice, Sirius." You scolded, laughing out your words as you rolled your eyes. "What do you really want to know?"
Sirius's laughter slowly died down, as he gazed down at you, "Everything?" He sighed.
You hummed, glancing around the room again, noticing James and Lily dancing nearby. "Well, I love to read, and I love drawing..." You let out a breathy laugh, shaking your head, "Sorry, I can’t think of anything else at the moment." You looked back up at him.
"No worries, we have time. I mean, I'd like to have the time to get to know you, you know?"
You stared at him for a moment before speaking, "Why were you so persistent on going on a date with me, Sirius?"
"Because..." He trailed off, looking slightly embarrassed.
"Because..?" You encouraged him, urging him to continue.
His cheeks flushed, as he avoided your gaze. It wasn't like him, to feel so nervous. But with you, he never knew if he was going to say something stupid. And right now, he knew he was in trouble. Taking a deep breath, he finally looked up at you. He was still staring at you, but his dark eyes were filled with uncertainty and possible fear. You couldn't help but notice this sudden change in him. He wasn't his charming and charismatic usual self. You began to worry, were you right? Did Sirius only try and talk to you for some prank, a dare, for some sick personal gain? Maybe he did this out of spite. Maybe he just needed to find something to make fun of. Maybe you were wrong, maybe you had misunderstood everything that happened between you two. Maybe it was only a joke.
But, he had apologized to Severus. In front of a lot of people at the school. That took guts. And you knew how much Sirius cared about his ego. Maybe he did change. Maybe he realized the terrible things he did were exactly that... Terrible. You could only hope. You really liked Sirius. A lot. As much as you hated to admit it, he really meant a lot to you. So maybe you shouldn't be jumping to conclusions just yet.
"Um," Sirius cleared his throat, breaking you out of your thoughts, the slow song coming to an end. As another song began, Sirius's eyes darted around the room as you looked at him confused. "Uh, let's go get some air." He spoke, before leading you out and into the hall. You watched as he let out a breath, running a hand through his hair before he turned back to you. Taking both your hands in his, he let out another small breath, gaining his courage once more. "I was persistent because I like you."
Your eyebrows furrowed in confusion, "Wha- What do you mean?"
Sirius licked his bottom lip, "Ever since I saw you, on the field, taking off that mascot head... It was like my world went into slow motion. Everything about you just drew me in. And when you were talking to me, I couldn't believe this breathtaking girl was talking to me. I couldn't believe I had never seen you around the school, or during these four years. I guess I was just blind. A blind fool in love with you." He muttered lowly, his cheeks tinting pink as he glanced down at you. You didn't answer, instead opting to stare at him in surprise. It was almost unreal that he was confessing to you like this. You never thought Sirius would ever like you, especially when he had all the girls at school begging to date him. But, as Sirius continued on, your heart melted. There was something about how earnest and sweet he was being.
"Sirius..." You spoke up softly, your eyes tearing up slightly, "You make it sound like such an honor to be in love with me." You smiled weakly up at him. "But why?"
He frowned slightly, "I don't know. I just felt drawn to you. Like there was some kind of pull towards you that I couldn't ignore. I've tried but it's no use." He raised a hand to cup your cheek, "You've enchanted me. Completely."
Nodding softly, you gave him a soft smile, "Consider your feelings returned. You've completely enchanted me as well."
"Y/N..." Sirius whispered quietly, his lips curving upwards. "May I?"
Taking one step closer to him, you leaned forward, pressing your lips against his warm ones. As your lips moved together, Sirius immediately responded, deepening the kiss, his hands cupping your cheeks. His lips pressed into yours desperately, as you tangled your fingers in his black curls; they were as soft as they looked. Pulling away slightly from each other, you rested your forehead against his as you caught your breath. "You have no idea how long I waited for this," Sirius breathed, placing a chaste kiss on your forehead.
Shaking your head slightly, you giggled softly, as Sirius pulled that velvet box out of his pants pocket. The one from your locker from weeks before.
"The necklace?' You questioned, as Sirius nodded.
"Yes, I uh, thought you should have it." He smiled shyly as you opened the box and you gasped softly.
The necklace was a silver paw print, on a simple silver chain. You placed a hand on your cheek before you picked up the necklace from the box.
"It's beautiful..." You sighed, looking up at Sirius, "This reminded you of me?" You asked and he nodded, rubbing the back of his neck.
"Yeah, since you are the mascot, and you know, that's where I first met you... When you were in that costume... I don't know... I saw it and thought of you." He explained, causing your heart to swell.
"Thank you, Sirius." You shyly spoke, before offering him the necklace, "Mind helping me put it on?" You asked and Sirius gently took the necklace from you as you turned around. Carefully unclasping it, you moved your hair as he brought the necklace around your neck, clipping it closed. The cool metal warmed your bare skin as you turned back around, looking down at the necklace and back up at him.
"How does it look?" You heard him ask quietly.
"Beautiful. Almost as beautiful as you." Sirius said simply, smiling at you.
And just like that, you had fallen in love. All you wanted to do was keep this feeling with you forever. And the way Sirius was looking at you, you knew he felt the same way too.
Heyyy I really love your writing!!, I have a request and I don’t know if you do angst and if you don't that is okay! but if you do, can you do one that is like the song "the one that got away" by Katy Perry, angst but if you want you can switch it up at the end to fluff or something that would make the viewers happy because I know they would want a part two of you keep like just angst at the end, YOUR CHOICE, your writing.!!
Thank you so muchhh!!!!
Oh my god, first of all, THANK YOU for reading, this whole thing made me super happy and I had to write it as soon as I had a moment. I hope you like it and it will have a longer part 2 if people like it! I hope you didn't mind I used Sirius, if you want another character I'm more than happy to write another one. I took some liberties with the plot because fuck you Joanne, we support trans rights in this household.
That being said, as always this blog is +18 only and tw for abuse.
THE ONE THAT GOT AWAY - SIRIUS BLACK X FEM! READER
Sirius and Y/N. Two peas in a pod all through life. Grew up together disliking both of their families views, only one could escape. She felt so relieved when she knew he was with the Potters, James wished she could save her too. It just wasn’t that easy.
The only daughter to a pureblood family, she was bound to get married, continue the family line and carry the legacy of the Dark Lord. She didn’t want that. She cherished her times at school because she knew, the second she graduated there would be a ring on her finger or a grave with her name.
Sirius and Y/N, who never said they loved each other but everyone knew. They knew from the way they looked at each other, from the sneaking together at night just to look at the stars and hope for the best. It was an unspoken thing, everybody knew it was beyond puppy love. She was even the reason Regulus and Sirius still spoke to each other, and both of them has the sneaky feeling that she’d be married off to the youngest Black.
Though she was not a Marauder she was part of the friend group. She proved to Lily she was not going to harm her and she matched in attitude and humour with Marlene. She was already chastised for being in Gryffindor, but she knew the friends she made were worth the screaming matches at home. And when Lily got pregnant at the end of their seventh year, she was made the godmother along Sirius with a second thought.
It was picture perfect until it wasn’t. She had a godson, great friends, a not so secret boyfriend, a bright future as a healer and her whole life ahead. Until she didn’t. As soon as she graduated she was engaged to another man, she had to scape to meet Harry and tell her friends what was going on and they had let her know she would fight with the Dark Lord either if she wanted to or not, yet they kept her and Regulus out of the meetings.
Sirius made it clear his freedom was before anything else, and you simply can’t ask an abuse kid who just got out to get back in. So she was alone. She knew, she knew about Peter, about Reg wanting to rebel. Everything, but she never got to tell. Sirius went to prison, leaving her confused. And when she got to scape it was too late. The only good thing about all of this was the fact that she got to keep in touch with Remus, she didn’t even get to take Harry with her.
“She will be here any minute now.” Remus frets as he prepares tea. The Order has just been reunited in Sirius’ old house and she has been recruited as a healer to help. She couldn’t say no.
“Who?” Asks a curious Ginny, who is more than eager to know what is going on in those meetings.
“Harry’s godmother.”
“My what now?”
“No one told him?” Asks Molly in a less than happy tone. “Harry darling, we thought you knew. She was Sirius… Uh-“
“Girl, she was Sirius’ girl.”
“Thank you, Remus. Her story is up to her to tell you about, but Dumbledore, he had his reasons I’m sure. She was still at risk.” Harry looks angrier, he can’t believe he could have been in a safer place before. “Sirius he-“
“He wasn’t ready to give up his freedom quite yet.” It’s a hard topic for Remus, they were his family after all. “She doesn’t resent him. She spent years waiting, Harry. For you, for him. She grieved your parents alone. And at some point it was clear to her she had to move on.”
“Did she?”
“I’m not sure. She has worked as a healer for years, she didn’t marry anyone else. She just learnt that life goes on and waits for no one. We still keep in contact, she will forever be my best friend. Even after everything that happened, we still have each other’s backs.”
“Does Sirius know?”
“I don’t think he does, no. This could either go really well, or really bad.”
“What could go bad?”
“Oh Merlin! Y/N!”
There she was. As Sirius would say, she aged like fine wine. She found comfort in Remus embrace, she always had, like a platonic soul sister. Seeing Harry again was a shock she wasn’t ready for. It was like seeing the ghost of her best friends in the form of a kid. She knew then and there that seeing Sirius was something she wasn’t sure she would recover from. She wanted to leave, but she couldn’t and it wasn’t until that after the meeting that Sirius dragged her out of the room and she couldn’t say no.
“My love…”
“Sirius I-“
“You look even more beautiful than I imagined.”
“I can’t do this right now.”
“I didn’t do it I swear.”
“I’ve know it was Peter this whole time, Siri. I’ve told anyone who would listen for years, but no one believed me. It’s not that-”
“Are you mad at me because I ran away?”
“Oh no. I could never resent you for escaping. We both know what happened behind closed door wasn’t easy for anyone and I’m glad you got out. And yeah, I sometimes wish I could have gotten out too. But you had a brother and I didn’t, Si. It was my destiny.”
“But you- you got out!”
“I- I don’t want to talk about those times anymore, please. I don’t want to be reminded of the pain again.”
“We can start a new life together, my darling. We can live here with Harry, hell maybe even Remus too. Make James and Lils proud. We can be a family again.”
“I don’t think I can, Si. It’s not that easy for me.”
“You moved on?”
“No. I could never. You were it for me, but this is all a bit much. How can I look at Harry without breaking down? Do I just stop my life now? What if we aren’t just made for each other?” She sobbed, “I’ve missed you to death, all of you. But I don’t know if I’m ready to live with ghosts of the past, Sirius. I don’t know if I want to risk losing a stable life that has been all I have ever fought for. There is a second war so close, and I don’t know if I am ready to go through everything all over again. I don’t want to lose you again.”
“Two month is all I ask for. One month with Harry and Remus, and when they leave for Hogwarts, the two of us. Please. I just got you back, I don’t want to lose you again.”
Summary: How could mornings look in the Blacks' household?
Tumblr media
She woke up to the sound of birds chirping and the sun warming her naked skin. She felt her lover's arm loosely wrapped around her middle when she snuggled into his side with her head on his chest. She couldn't stop the smile growing on her face at the feeling of safety and love he brought her. Right now, there wasn't a war between wizards. There wasn't a fear that one of them won't come back. After all, for Death Eaters, they were a traitor of pure blood and a muggle-born. Right now - there were only them - two lovers who decided to celebrate their love and finally got married just a month ago. They both knew that times were dangerous, and they could not have much time together, so they did not want to lose any of it.
She looked up and realised that her husband - the one and only Sirius Black was still asleep. She admired his handsome face surrounded by dark locks that were so soft under her fingers. His slightly parted lips begged her to be kissed, and his long eyelashes laid on his cheeks, making her jealous of them. She gently moved and leaned on her elbow to watch him better. She gently moved a lock of his hair from his face and leaned down to kiss his full lips, but she stopped just millimetres away. He looked so peaceful when he slept. She knew the latest missions for Order took a lot of him, so maybe she should let him rest just a little longer. When she tried to move and not wake him up, she felt his grip become tighter at the waist, making her stay in that position. He opened one of his eyes with one of his signature smirks at what she smiled.
"Well, if you won't do it, I will, Mrs Black." He mumbled with a voice full of sleep, and she giggled softly, making his heart grow. She gently took his face between her hands, caressing his cheeks with her thumbs.
"That's an appealing offer, Mr Black." She whispered, not moving even for an inch, but when he tried to catch her lips with his, she lifted herself just for a few centimetres, making him groan. With a laugh, she leaned down again, placing a small kiss on his nose at what he wrinkled it, making her know that it wasn't the kiss he thought about. She felt his warm hand gently moving on her back down her spine, making her shiver. She looked into his eyes, and her heart missed a beat. One of his hands made its way to the back of her head, starting to softly caress her scalp with a dreamy smile on his face. When he looked at her like this, she couldn't resist him any longer. She gently connected their lips, and quickly the kiss got heated. All she could feel was his - his warmth, his gentle but firm grip, his smell. He overpowered all her senses. She didn't protest when he turned them and now hovered over her, trying not to put all of his weight on her. She started exploring his body with her hands - they moved into his black hair, gently tugging them to slide onto his toned arms a little later. Since they started dating in their Hogwarts days, she couldn't stop admiring how good a kisser he was. And still, just a few movements of kid lips and a few caresses of his hands made her completely unarmed, only wanting more and more of him.
He smiled in a kiss, hearing her soft whimpers, and with a heavy heart, moved away a little. He took the sight before him in - she lay flushed with a smile and messy hair, and he could swear that he didn't see her more beautiful than at this moment. Waking up next to her, and spending moments like this was like a dream to Sirius. And he always had this fear in the back of his head that he would wake up alone in a cold manor on Grimmauld Place all again. She was a girl he never hoped to call his own - she had a kind heart but wasn't afraid to speak her mind. She could lull him into sleep with softly whispered stories or take care of her friends, always making sure they had everything they needed. But when there was a need to fight, she wasn't afraid to stand up to villains, trying to stop them with nasty curses. And now she had his ring on her finger and his surname, and he proudly could call her his wife.
"I love you, Mrs Black." He whispered, peaking her lips quickly, and she smiled, knowing that calling her like this gave him so much satisfaction.
"And I love you, lover boy." He smirked and leaned down to capture her lips with his making her moan into him. His lips moved to her jaw to end up gently biting and sucking at her neck. He noticed that her breath started quicking, and she tried not to make any sound of pleasure.
"How much time do we have?" He whispered against her skin, pecking a love bite he had made.
"I'm meeting with Lily at 12."
"Oh, so we have plenty of it!" He jokingly bites her collarbone, making her squeal. They both started laughing, and then they lost themselves in each other. And let's say she was late for her meeting by only half an hour, and Lily could only laugh at her trials of hiding lovebites.
“Hey, pretty girl.”
You jerked your head away from the menu and looked in the direction of the voice. A dark-haired man with pale skin and jawline so sharp it could cut diamonds smirked at you, tapping his ring-adorned fingers on the counter. His hair was long for a man’s, and slightly wavy; it fell in his gray eyes in a way that somehow made him even more attractive. His arms were covered in tattoos and he had a great number of piercings, yet not so many that it was overwhelming. His name tag read: “Sirius”.
He raised an eyebrow, waiting, and you flushed, realizing you’d been staring. “Are you talking to me?”
He laughed. “Course I am, darling. You see any other pretty girls at the counter?”
You looked around. “Oh, er, I don’t know - “
“Relax.” His tone softened, and he pulled out a notepad. “What can I get for you?”
You exhaled, looking back up at the menu. “Erm… a lavender latte, please. Medium.”
“Good choice.” He grinned, white teeth flashing as he jotted down your order. “So,” he said as he prepared your drink, “you here with your boyfriend?”
“Oh, I don’t have a boyfriend.”
“Girlfriend? Partner?” He poured in the lavender syrup.
You shook your head, the ghost of a smile dancing on your features. “I’m just here to write.”
“Ooh, a writer, eh?” He put the drink out in front of you. “What do you write, love?”
“Different things,” you told him. “Short stories, poetry, journaling…”
“You must be quite intelligent, then.”
“Oh, I don’t know about that.” You chuckled nervously. “Just have a lot of thoughts and need to get them out.”
“Isn’t that what intelligence is? Having a lot of thoughts and putting them to good use?”
You opened your mouth, then closed it. “I… I suppose so.” You cleared your throat. “What do I owe you for this?” You gestured to the drink.
“Oh, that’ll be…” He looked down at his notepad. “One number, please.”
You furrowed your brow. “Excuse me?”
He grinned. “Your number. Other than that it’s on the house.”
You raised an eyebrow, but pulled out a piece of paper and a pen. “Is this allowed?”
He waved his hand dismissively. “Oh, Remus’ll get over it.”
You jotted down your number and handed it to him. “Don’t make me regret this, barista.”
His eyes flashed mischievously. “I would never.”
summary : at one of the marauders after parties, you have a little too much to drink.
warnings : not proof read, major fluff
paring: remus lupin x fem!reader
Tumblr media
Remus had just performed a sold out concert with his fellow band mates — the Marauders. Now, he was at an after party, filled to the brim with groupies, celebrities, music producers, etc. But he only wanted to find you, to take you home and sleep.
He was exhausted and as much as he loved being famous and well known, Remus enjoyed performing and making music more than going to parties.
The sandy haired boy attempted to find you in the crowd, but alas could not. Where did you go? He thought, turning every corner as if it was a labyrinth. With every part of Sirius’ mansion, more people were in his way.
Meanwhile, Marlene, Dorcas, and Alice had taken you after the concert. The girls wanted to get to the after party as soon as possible. Alice had her hopes up to see the new A-list actor, Frank Longbottom. Marlene and Dorcas, already together and in the music industry themselves, promised to introduce the two.
While Alice was chatting up Frank, and Marlene and Dorcas were busy making out in a broom closet, you had gotten bored and missed Remus. So you indulged in a few drinks.
Stepping outside, the cold night air made Remus smile. Inside the house was hot and sticky. He smiled when he spotted you, a red solo cup in your hand. You were laughing and Remus walked towards you.
“Hey love,” he said, a hand going on the small of your back. You turned to him and smiled drunkenly.
“Remus!” You exclaimed, a crooked smile taking over your face. “I missed you so much! I’ve been looking for you since the concert ended!”
The boy could tell that you’d had a few drinks and we’re definitely not sober.
“I’ve been looking for you too Y/n,” he replied. “Want to head home?” He asked.
“No!” You whined, your head dropping. “Wanna stay and play beer pong!” You smiled.
Remus could never say no to you and especially wouldn’t say no to the cute smile you wore at the moment.
“Alright lovie, one round of beer pong and then I’m taking you home,” he said, compromising.
You nodded, it only being fair. “Oh alright,” you said, standing up and almost losing you balance. But not to worry, Remus was there to catch you in an instant.
“Are you sure you can play beer pong like this?” He asked with a little smirk. You pouted and looked a little annoyed. The crinkle on your forehead—that Remus adored — showed.
“Yes. I can play.” You insisted.
One round of beer pong later, you had sobered up some but not entirely. Remus was by your side the entire game, helping you decide which shots to make. Which James wasn’t very happy about, seeing as competitive he was. Frank and Alice were near the table but not big fans of the game, as they were too busy falling in love. James won the game, winning over a kiss from Lily.
At the end of the game you were beat and still a little drunk. You wanted to go home. As you were leaning against Remus for support, he looked down at you.
“I think we should head home love,” he said, grabbing you by the waist and picking you up into his arms. You nudged your head into his neck. “Alright, Remmy,” you mumbled tiredly.
Once in the car, you passed out. Remus laughed to himself at your drunken state, knowing full well you would be hung over in the morning.
“Come on love, we’re home,” he said, unbuckling your seat belt. You woke up, a bit drowsy and super clingy.
“I’m tried Remmy,” you pouted, leaning into his strong body. He wrapped his arms around you and led you into the house.
“We’re going to get you to bed lovie. Promise,” he said, kissing your forehead.
Once at your bedroom, Remus sat you down on your shared bed and helped you into your sleep clothes. He gave you a glass of water aswell. All the while, you reached out for Remus’ touch.
“Wanna hold you,” you pouted, already in your night clothes. Which consisted of one of Remus’ old sweaters and sleep shorts.
Remus undressed himself and hopped into bed just wearing his boxers. He pulled you to him immediately, waisting no time in holding you.
“Well maybe I wanna hold you?” He teased, kissing your hair.
You turned to him and smiled lazily, sleepiness coming over you. “You did so well tonight Remus. Greatest rockstar ever!” You said, kissing his nose.
Remus wrapped you tighter in his arms and kissed your forehead. “Thanks Y/n, performed for you and only you,” he said, looking at you like you were the only thing that mattered to him.
Because you were.
Toffee Pt. 1: Hogwarts
Synopsis:
What goes best with Toffee?" "Chocolate."
You had always been taught that sharing made people like you. That's why you shared the toffee your mother had made with the four boys that sat with you on the train to your future school. Little did you know that those boys would change your life: For better and worse.
Tumblr media
You ran to the wall, Eyes closed tightly. You wondered if the man in the funny hat and odd scarf had told you the truth. You didn't crash. Wait! You didn't crash into the substantial brick wall. You flung open your eyes to see trolleys with luggage, cages with owls, kids running up and down the platform, and most importantly: The most majestic train you'd ever seen. In flaked gold letters it read 'Hogwarts Express', the man hadn't lied to you. You hurried up to the train and then to the tall, lanky brunette boy who was helping children about your age heave their trunks into the luggage car. You smiled at him.
"Are you a Hogwarts student?" you asked.
"Yes, I'm a sixth year. You are a first year?"
"Yeah!"
"Well," he picked up your tunk and stacked it on the growing pile, "I would go find an empty place to sit before they all fill up."
He helped you up and you walked through the train cars looking for an empty or mostly empty car; You saw one and dove in. You put your stuff up into the overhead hanger when you heard a small voice, almost mouse-like. You turned to see a blonde boy, nervously rubbing his hands.
"Oh, I'm sorry. Are you saving this space for someone?"
"No." he shyly answered. You smiled.
"What's your name?"
"Peter. Peter Pettigrew."
"That's a nice name!" you told him yours and you slowly began talking when you heard a thud. Two boys slammed into the car. They were laughing and being rather rude not acknowledging you and Peter. You scowled lightly but you promised your mother you would have manners.
"Ugh I hate that guy already! and the girl was kind of annoying too-Oh!" the slightly taller one said when he turned to see you and the nervous boy.
"Sorry." The one with glasses said.
They shared an awkward look so you decided to speak up.
' You can sit here if you'd like, we don't care, do we, Peter?" He shook his head yes. The two boys finished stuffing their stuff and sat down.
"What're your names?"
"James Potter." the one with glasses said.
"Sirius Black." the other followed.
You were surprised, "You two almost seem like brothers, are you related? Cousins maybe?"
"I don't think so."
You were about to speak up when the train jerked forward and the whistle blew.
"Off to Hogwarts!" Sirius yelled, making Peter slightly jump.
"Well esteemed wizards and witch, I think we should celebrate!" James pulled an odd box from his jacket, he opened it, and pulled a few jelly beans out.
"Ooh!" Peter said, reaching for the caramel-y color one. He popped it in his mouth and began chewing; the other two boys looked at him with expecting looks. Peter softly smiled. "Creampuff." You noticed the look of relief on Sirius's and James's faces. You were confused.
"What flavors are there?"
The three boys looked at you with equal looks of confusion. "Have you never had Bertie Botts Every Flavor Beans?"
You froze, "Yeah no."
"Have you been living under a rock?!" Sirius said, flinging his hands up.
"No, I just."
Peter, with a much softer voice, spoke "Muggle-born?"
"Yea."
The boys looked at each other and left out an 'Ah' in unison. You frowned slightly, "Does this mean we can't be friends."
"No no!" James started, "It just means that we get to witness your first taste of wizard candy! Which is exciting!" He dug in the box and pulled out a red jelly bean and handed it to you. You, not wanting to seem like a loser, put it in your mouth and started chewing as Peter did. You gagged and began fanning your mouth.
"I think it's hot sauce!" you screeched. It wasn't that you disliked hot sauce but by itself? It was foul and it burned.
Sirius handed you a bottle of pink liquid, and you hesitated, "Is it going to turn me into a... flamingo?"
"No, it's just strawberry soda." he said, giggling at you. You chugged it, the burn in your mouth slowly going away.
You handed him the empty bottle and began laughing along. It must've been kinda funny to see you act like that. You heard a voice from the doorway, you looked to see another boy, You stood up and opened the door.
"Hey, Um, Can I sit with you guys? I was sitting alone and I heard you all laughing and it sounded... fun?" He shyly said. You looked at him, he had a few scars on his face but he had really kind eyes that looked sort of like honeyed tea. You liked honey tea and that's why you let him in the compartment. You scooted over to the window so he could sit between you and James.
It was an hour or so later and the compartment had calmed down. Peter was reading a book, Sirius had his legs propped up on Peter's lap and James was playing with his wand.
You quietly looked at the boy who was picking at the skin on his fingernails. You couldn't stop looking at him, he just looked so cool. You jumped when his eyes met yours. He opened his mouth to say something but you interrupted.
"Oh sorry, I didn't mean to stare." you said quietly as if that would make it better. He smiled.
"No, I was just going to say thank you."
Somehow that made it worse, you felt your cheeks turning red out of embarrassment. "O-oh. You're welcome! I never asked your name?"
"Remus." He said you told him yours in response and he reached into his pocket, he pulled out a single chocolate bar.
"That isn't going to explode or anything? Right?"
He grinned, "Not all sweets are dangerous. It's just chocolate." he broke you off a piece and handed it to you
You smiled back and dug in your pocket and pulled out a small bag, you opened it and handed him a small square of yours. He looked at it, confusion growing.
"It's toffee."
"Oh!"
"What goes best with toffee?"
"Chocolate."
You were spriting it through the hall, blowing by so many students and ghosts as you took a hard left and ran to the library. Only once you got to the door did you stop to breathe. You had requested a book and you had received an owl that it was returned to the library; You walked to the front desk and calmly asked where you could find it. After the librarian told you what section it was in you quickly walked to it, just as you lifted your hand to grab the book, another and lifted. You looked at who it was and you saw a shorter, red-haired girl.
She looked back at you, looking you up and down. "I know you."
"You do?" You've never seen this girl, at least you thought you didn't but she looked kinda...
"You hang out with James Potter and his friends that bully Severus."
Oh shit.
"Oh, yea... You're Lilian, right?"
"Lily."
"Oh sorry. Well, do you need that book?"
"No, I was just going to pick it up for some reading. Do you need it?"
"Yeah, I wanted to add some more notes to my transfiguration notes. You know, can't be too prepared."
She smiled at you, "You're a lot nicer than your friends."
"Oh I have my moments but thank you."
"Could you ask them to lay off Severus? They think they are funny but they are just being mean."
"I make no promises but I will try my best."
"Thank you and here's your book."
You smiled as she walked away. She was kind of right.
You were walking back to your common room when you bumped into someone. You dropped your book and yelped slightly.
"Oh I am so sorry, I wasn't watching where I was going!" You stammered as you stooped down to pick up your book. You stood back up to see the boy you'd just been talking about: Severus Snape. You smiled at him.
"I wasn't watching where I was going either." He said, looking down.
You softly sighed, "Well, I will be heading off. Oh! and remember, we got potions homework." you said as you walked down the hall.
Before you knew it, you were already packing up to return home. It was bittersweet. Your parents hadn't written you a lot of letters since they were mildly scared of the owls as your mother had read somewhere that they rip their prey apart with their claws and she had a thing about dead animals. You flicked your wand and your books began to float into the last trunk, you then swiped it and saw as your luggage and loose books shrunk. You scooped them up and put them in your tote you had gotten from Sirius during Christmas. You smiled as you thought back to opening gifts with them in the Great Hall: Peter and James were having a pumpkin juice chugging contest, Sirius was trying to unwrap the gits perfectly and you and Remus were playing a calm game of wizards chess.
"That was a dick move." he said as your bishop swiped his last knight off the board.
"That's wizards chess," you said smugly.
You smiled, even more, when you picked up the picture from your nightstand; it was from that Christmas and it was moving, you loved magic. James and Sirius were lifting Peter, you lifted your leg up as Remus crouched to the ground and threw up a peace sign; you all were laughing and you could watch the image twirl and move for hours but you didn't have them. You put it in the tote bag and walked out of your dorm, taking one last look at the dorm. You all had promised to write to each other and you had invited them to come to visit you after you made sure it was okay with your parents. You sighed as you closed the door. Til next year.
You smiled as you walked calmly through the brick wall this time. You sighed happily as you felt the steam of the train fill the area, you looked at it, still amazed by it. You heaved your trunk into the luggage car, helping a few other kids do theirs. Suddenly you felt an arm loop around your waist, lift you up, and spin you. You laughed as you knew who it exactly was: Sirius Black.
"Sirius!" you laughed as you flung your arms around him and hugged him. "You look great! Did the flea and tick shampoo help?"
"Surprisingly, yes. And you look absolutely lovely." Anyone else would have thought you two were lovers but you would literally throw up if he asked you out and he would rather swan dive off the Astronomy tower. You loved each other, but exclusively platonically. You had eyes elsewhere. You walked with him til you saw a familiar pair of socks.
"Lookie Lookie, James and...Lily! Oh my god!" you ran to her and she stood up and grabbed your hands. You two started rambling about Elton John and the Revlon magazine you'd sent her last week. You and her had become best friends and you would stay up on the phone until there were marks on your fingers from twirling the phone chord. As you and Lily talked each other's ears off, Sirius had put your bag up for you and sat on the opposite bench opposite of James and Peter had found his way to the car from yours and Lily's high-pitched squeals. You stopped when you heard a voice. You whirled around and there he was! Remus Lupin! You jerked him in the car and you let him have it.
“You literally didn't write me back and I was tempted to track you down and throw rocks through your damn window," you said, making swift motions with your hands. “I will do it!”
"I missed you too." He said, making you stop in your tracks.
"I missed you and next summer, write me back or I will be under your bed when you go to sleep and that is a damn threat."
Your friends were chuckling; you and Remus playfully argued like this all the time. You pulled him down to sit with you and Sirius, who was digging in his bag. "I brought a little deja vu with me." The black haired boy pulled out a box of these infamous Jelly Beans. You could almost feel your mouth tingle.
"Who wants one?" he asked. Of course, Peter reached for some. He, Remus and Lily always had the better luck out of the six of you. The worst flavour Peter had gotten was raw flour, Remus hated liquorice and Lily's worst flavour was cheese which wouldn't have been the worst but she is lactose intolerant and even the taste of dairy products makes her gag. Yours was shoe polish, James ate a spoiled milk-flavoured one and turned an odd shade of green, Sirius had once gotten shampoo and you all made jokes about how his mouth needed it.
You shook your head no as you reached into your pocket and pulled out toffee pieces and handed them to Remus. '"Don't think I've forgotten."
He took them and handed you a small box of chocolate. Every year, you exchanged toffee and chocolate in memory of the first time you met. This time, it was Remus that was staring at you. You had such a pretty smile, a beautiful laugh and enchanting eyes that seemed to sparkle when you started talking about what you did over the summer. You grabbed your wand from your pocket and took out a lipstick. "Lily, Check this out. I may have doomed the lipstick economy. Colorvaria" You lifted your wand and flicked it. The red colour changed to pale pink, you said it again and it turned a plum shade.
Everyone was pleasantly surprised at this, lily reached for the lipstick and pulled out a compact mirror and put it on. “Is it my color?”
“Yeah!” You started rambling about how with Lily’s complexion it was perfect. Remus continued to stare at you, James, Sirius and Peter noticed.
“Hey Remus, what’s got you all smiley?”
Remus looked at his friends with a shocked look, “Just excited for Hogwarts.” He stammered out. They picked up on it. They knew. He knew that they knew. God damnit.
Pretty soon the compartment had fallen quiet. Peter was gently snoring as he laid head up against the window, James and Lily were holding hands as Lily was using her free one to do a crossword, making her requests for words the only peaceful noise besides the train clanging and whispers of other people in other carts. Sirius had put his legs, that were too long for the rest of his body over you and he was making an god awful choking sound as he slept.
Despite this, sleep was clouding your eyes. You were side eyeing the book Remus was reading, it wasn’t a text book, it was poetry.
“Rem, could you read one out loud?” You softly asked, not trying to disturb the others, like Sirius wasn’t. He looked at you, he hadn’t noticed you reading along.
He cleared his throat as he tired the page, slowly and softly began reading “When your kiss hovers on my lips, and each of my nerves trembles, when your cheek lies hot on my cheek, and your breast clings to mine,” He stopped when he realized the subject matter. He looked to you and saw your head bobbing in sleep. He looked to James, who gave him a thumbs up and made a motion for him to move your head. Remus, although terribly confused, gently pushed your head to his shoulder.
James looked at Lily and smiled. They had a new job; getting the two of you together and they were already making progress. Remus looked out the window before shutting his book and gently plopping it down in his bag, he laid his head back against the wall and began trying to fall asleep.
You were walking through the hall, re-reading the chapter you had just gone over in Advanced Charms. Your N.E.W.T classes were a lot harder than you’d expected. You knew you could do it though because the more you read it, the more it began to click. You heard two familiar laughs which made you look up and you were not disappointed. James Potter was walking down the hall and Cousin It was right beside him, holding on to his arm. You stifled a laugh and asked what had happened.
“Well now we know that if we ever need help with potions, Sirius could help.” James said, trying to push some hair out of Sirius’s face.
“I bet it was Snivilius. It wasn’t my fault I got shoved in that class with him.”
You scoffed, “Maybe it wasn’t him and what were you trying to brew anyways?”
“Alihosty something.”
James shook his head, “It was supposed to cause spontaneous laughter, but it gave him spontaneous hair extensions.”
Sirius flung his head back, “How am I supposed to impress the cuties when I look like a fuzzy Christmas tree? It’s a crime against humanity… those poor lads and ladies. They will go through Sirius withdrawal!”
“Okay Okay, Drama King.” You pulled out your wand, “If you end up totally bald, my bad. Calvirio.” You said swishing your wand in a zigzag. The hair seemed to retract back into his face and body til he had slightly shorter hair than before, no stubble that he had been trying to grow out and part of right his eye brow was rather thin but it was a definite improvement. You put your wand back in your pocket as Sirius as he ran to a mirror.
“No! Dave!” Sirius yelled as he slumped down the wall, fake crying.
“Dave?”
“He named his ‘beard’” James said, doing air quotes.
“Ah…” You sighed.
“Where were you going?” James asked, “Me, Sirius, Peter and Remus got a free period though, it isn’t really free.”
You laughed, any spare time was spent studying and practicing for your classes. “Well, Remus had promised to study with me in the library. So that’s where I was heading until I ran into you and swamp thing.” You smiled pointing at Sirius, who was really try to see if one eye brow was thinner.
“Oh? Well, I guess we’ll let you head on.” He said, walking to Sirius and grabbing him by the cloak hood. You playfully rolled your eyes and sighed as you walked off to the library.
After you were out of sight, James shoved Sirius in a closet and turned to him.
“Alright, we all know Remus has a thing for her, right?”
“Right?”
“So…” James started hoping Sirius would catch on. Sirius looked at him, few thoughts being thinked behind his eyes. “Oh my god… is there a word for a male bimbo?” James sighed. “We, Me, Peter and you, help them to get together.”
“Why does Peter come before me?”
“What?”
“In the order you listed, Peter came before me. “
“You’re the most jealous man I know.”
“Other men?! James Potter!” Sirius joked. At that moment they heard their short blonde friend, whistling down the hall. They threw out their arms and jerked him into the small closet.
“Bloody hell! What is wrong with you two?” He shouted, grasping at his chest as if he had a heart attack.
“We need you in on this plan, Peter. So we all know who Remus likes and I am eighty percent sure she likes him too. They are perfect for each other and they need our help realizing it.” James stated.
“I mean yeah they obviously like each other but I really don’t know… shouldn’t we wait for them to come together on their own?”
Sirius scoffed, “James and Lily would have great-grand children by then. Somethings just need a shove in motion like that muggle science guy says about like gravy.”
“Gravity.” Peter corrected.
“Of this situation? Astronomical.”
Peter opened his mouth to correct him again but James just held up his hand and shook his head, making Peter close his mouth.
“Well, first things first, we need out of here.” Sirius said, flinging open the door and promptly hitting someone in the face.
“Damn!” Remus yelped, grabbing his face, he looked up to yell at who ever came out of the but was very confused when he saw his friends. “Uh, hi guys.”
“Remi-Semi-Demi-Fi-Fo Fimmy! We got some ideas!” Sirius said, walking and looping his arm around Remus
“What are they and what happened to your eye brow?”
Sirius whimpered and turned to James, “You said it wasn’t that bad.”
“Remus! You didn’t tell us you had a study date!”
He looked confused then he remembered, “Oh, well it is not a date. She and I are just studying and working on a… special assignment.”
“Kissing isn’t a special assignment.”
Remus whacked James across the head with a book, making him recoil, “We are not, have not and will not be kissing in the library.”
Peter piped up, “So you’ve done it other places.” Awarding himself a hit with the book as well.
Remus huffed, “Even if we did, it is not your all business!”
“She’s our friend and so are you. So it kind of is.” Sirius pointed out.
Remus scowled at Sirius, “What makes you all think I like her like that anyway?”
James threw up his hands, “I don’t know man. You carry her books, walk her to the Hufflepuff common room door, you always sit beside her and you always come so close to holding her hand. “
Sirius joined in, “Then there’s the matching necklaces, Honey Duke's outings, staring holes through her and you look so pissed when anyone that’s attractive talks to her.”
Peter was the last, “You only share food with her, you sometimes blow us off to go sit near her but not talk to her and you pretty much stalk her.”
They all had points, Remus sighed. He looked at his friends, “Listen, I like her, I like her a lot but we all know it won’t work.”
“Remus, she wouldn’t judge you. She’s very sweet and good-natured. If anything, she’ll find it unfair and she’d be sad for you.” Sirius said, rubbing Remus’s shoulder as the group began walking.
“I just- What if she doesn’t? What if she’s scared of me after?”
“I don’t think that would happen.” Peter said, trying to comfort him.
“Do you all really think that?”
“Have we ever lied to you about something like this?” James asked.
“No. No, you all haven’t.”
James turned to walk backwards as he looked at his friend, “She’s your friend too. There’s nothing she won’t understand if you sit down and explain it to her.”
Remus smiled, he was lucky to have such good friends but unlucky that they were so pushy he thought about you and he couldn’t help but smile. He really liked you and he couldn’t deny that you made him so happy. He often sang softer songs with you, he and you made a secret code, you had been in each other’s common rooms and you often took late-night walks up to the Astronomy Tower and stayed there for hours.
"Alright, what is the plan?" he asked, accepting defeat.
James clapped his hands together, "Okay, so you and her are going to be in the library. We are going to be far enough away to where she can't see us, we will cast Muffilato so no one besides us can hear, in case it goes south. Then you are going to finesse her, get her to be your girlfriend and then Bam! Wedding bells in the future!"
Remus didn't think it was a good plan but it was better than what he could come up with in five minutes.
Sirius asked a question, "So what is the special assignment you and her are working on?"
Remus grinned a mischievous grin, "Well, we all know the fear of being caught when we pull a prank, right? We have figured out a way to prevent that."
The boys were intrigued, "What is it?"
Remus looked around before speaking, "A map. It will tell us where everyone is, every minute of every day."
They smiled, "So it's like a prize for when we get the two of you together?" Peter said.
"In a way."
Remus rolled his eyes, "It isn't a carnival game."
Your quill was working away as you quietly read off some notes and ideas you were gathering from a book you had picked up on Transfiguration. You flipped the pages when you heard the door to your far left open, you hoped it was Remus as he was ten minutes late. You were right as you saw the boy look for you. You gently whistled to catch his attention. He saw you and rushed over and sat down. You smiled.
"So what was keeping you?"
"Oh just the boys."
You snickered, "Did you see Sirius earlier?"
"No? Why?" he asked, wondering why you were laughing. You went on to tell him about a muggle TV show you watched with your mother during October called the Addams Family and how Sisirus was giving a character called Cousin It a run for his money.
"It's a very interesting show because it is a sort of reversal of the Nuclear Family."
"The what?"
"Oh, it's an idea from the fifties that was really solidified during The Cold War between Russia and The United States. It consists of a mother, a father, and two children. the mother stays a housewife and the father is the sole provider and income for the family. It isn't a bad thing but the obsession they had and still kinda have with it was weird."
"So you don't want a family?" Remus asked.
"Oh no, I want a family but I've always thought about a bigger one and two incomes will always be better than one." You said, changing the piece of parchment from under the quill, and you handed it to Remus. He wasn't paying attention as he thought about it.
"What is the ideal number? For you personally?"
"Three. Three is the best number out there. Beginning, Middle, End. Everything has three parts to it." then you remembered the previous conversation and turned slightly red, "Well, even numbers are... Good." you internally cursed yourself for being this damn awkward.
He has started copying your notes, "Well... Have you thought about what you want to do in the future?"
You thought for a moment, "I would love to open a store in Diagon Alley."
"What kind of store?"
You grinned, "The Store Of Muggle Wonders."
You talked about your time back at home as if it was a dream which is why Remus thought of the next question; "Do you get homesick?"
You were slightly stunned, "I guess... I really miss my Mom. She's alone when I'm not there. Like she has friends and everything but she writes me and she tells me she misses me. She isn't trying to make me feel guilty but I end up feeling like it. Especially during fall, she would make apple cider and I could smell it from my bedroom and we'd have cider and scones." you went on a little longer talking about your life and Remus just listened. He was very good at that.
"Well, It is almost Christmas, you'll get to see her." He comforted.
You smiled, "She is asking if... My friends would like to come and visit her. She's very curious about everything."
Remus couldn't help a huge grin that spread across his face, you told your mother about him? Well him and the rest of the boys. "I would love to."
You smiled as you lifted up the book and showed it to him, you began pointing out the incantations to Remus. You were a great study partner: You not only focused on what you struggled with but you made sure to point out and help the people you were studying with. You once had pestered the daylight out of Slugghorn for extra potions notes when you heard peter groan slightly at his homework.
Speaking of Peter, He was currently peering out from behind a bookshelf as James lifted Sirius up onto the top of the bookshelf. Sirius, under the Invisibility cloak, slowly pulled out his wand to dim the exact light you two were under and get down, he then handed the cloak to James, who was finishing writing the guide for Remus. He slipped it on and gently walked to the table, put down the letter, and tapped Remus's foot to get him to notice it. Remus looked at you, you were ranting about how unclear the book was and how on earth did they expect you to understand this. He quicked reached to pick it up and open it.
"One: Gently get her attention. Two: Compliment (Must Be genuine, girls know, man, they know.) Three: Look at her and smile. Four: Genuine compliment on something she has input in (i;e her nail polish (Have ever really seen her without it?) grades, specific interest or family) Five: As If single. Six: Ask if you can hold her hand or go for it. Seven: talk more while holding hands. Eight: When you get up to leave, offer to carry her things. Nine: Open the door for her. Ten: Gently lean in to kiss her."
It was a lot simpler in theory. There was still something eating at his mind. He interrupted you, "Do you know about werewolves?"
"Yes?"
"What you would do, if like, one of us was a werewolf?"
You thought for a moment, "Well, I would be... I would feel scared for them. From what I've read and been told, almost all of them don't want to be werewolves. Werewolves are very discriminated against and the discrimination has put them in positions that make it harder for them to help their condition. It's a vicious cycle. Why do you ask?"
He felt his throat begin to close up around his words, he just looked at you until he saw it click behind your eyes. He waited for you to start screaming but that never happened. Instead, your hand went over to his and gently laid on top of his. He took your hand in his as he felt like he was about to cry. You were so kindhearted: he would have gotten it if you had accepted just him but you denounced the treatment of all.
"Hey... There is something else. I get it if you don't feel the same way but I really lik-"
"I like you too!" you practically yelled. You slapped your hand over your mouth before turning a violent red. He started to chuckle, which made you playfully huff. "You are so so mean to me."
"Only you."
You squeezed his hand tighter before checking your watch, "One last class. Are you ready?" You said, briefly. He shook his head before collecting his things.
"They are getting up! Do you think they are gonna do it?" Peter asked the two boys. They had made a piggyback tower to observe the two of you.
"I hope so, I wanna know what the geniuses have been cooking up." Sirius said.
James shushed them.
You walked to the door and you turned to tell him something when he put his hand on your face and gently pulled your face to his, planting a soft but long-awaited kiss. You smiled as he pulled back but were shocked when you heard three loud cheers. You jerked your head to see your three idiots beside a bookshelf. You turned to Remus, who was looking down, slightly ashamed. You grinned to yourself as you, grabbed him by the waist, spun him, and dramatically kissed him. You gently dropped him as you opened the door and walked out. Remus was laying on the floor, surprised and very happy. He sat up and looked to his friends. Your lipstick had smudged onto the side of his mouth and on his face.
You were now his only study buddy and the only person he'd accept notes from.
You felt a few tears roll down your cheeks as you sat in the great hall in your fancy robes. You looked to the far left and saw the entire student body of Gryffindor House to your left, you scanned for them, only seeing Sirius as you we supposed to stand by the last name and alphabetically. He was smiling so brightly, white teeth glowing almost. You sighed as you looked forward. Each house had chosen a person to speak as a representative and for Hufflepuff, it was you.
You clapped as the Ravenclaw boy finished his and turned to return to his seat. You heard your name called so you stood up as the applause came from the houses, more so Gryffindor and Hufflepuff. You smiled as you walked up to the podium.   "Today, we are leaving these halls as students. It's bittersweet since we are all excited and happy to have made it but sad to leave the place that has become our home. Home is where your heart is and my heart has never found a better place. I plan on being back as a Professor and I hope to see a few of you do the same." you looked and eventually saw James who gave you a thumbs up.
"Now, I know we all want to cheer and say our last goodbyes but I have a few people I would like to thank. First, I would like to thank my best friend, Lily Evans." She looked up and smiled as you looked at her. "She has been the dearest friend anyone could ask for. Gryffindor's house stands for several things and I see now why the Sorting Hat chose her: Her nerve. She will never let you down, she finds her purpose and she finds good in all she does and all she befriends.”
You smiled as a small round of applause rang for Lily. “Second, I would like to talk about a significant friend group who we all know. James Potter, Peter Pettigrew, Sirius Black, and Remus Lupin. We have all had an encounter with them…”
You were outside, watching the snow when you heard a whoosh and felt a strong breeze that blew your hair and pages of your book. You huffed as you looked up to see James flying off in his broom. He looped around the tower and came back. He landed beside you, “Whatcha reading?”
“It’s a book on herbology.”
He raised his eyebrow, “Didn’t you already pass that class like years ago?”
“I did."
His eye glowed under his snowflaked eyelashes, "Do you wanna take a spin?" he asked, hand extended. You sighed as you closed your book and put it in your tote bag. You knew he wasn't going to let it go if you didn't. He grabbed your hand, dragged you to his still-hovering broom, and helped you onto it. He sat in front of you and pushed off a little too fast for your liking. You let out a loud screech as he blew through the sky, quickly making the courtyard where you reading shrink in size. You began to laugh as he weaved in and out of the bridge columns and did terrifying tricks. James Potter was very wild but he was the purest embodiment of fun.
You wiped off the flour from your face as you coughed. You looked down at the rat that had run into your apron pocket and grinned, "Well Pete... Now we know not to do that." you started laughing as you pulled him out and dusted him off before sitting him on the ground. Slowly he changed back into the short man you were used to.
"That was a fail," he said as he pulled out his wand to clean the mess. "You just had to use that muggle contraption."
"You mean a hand mixer?" you said, looking at the turquoise mixer that was covered in flour and cocoa. You started laughing.
He looked at you, confused til he saw what you were laughing at. Tiny footprints in the flour were made before he ducked for cover.
You pulled a bin to the counter before sweeping the flour into it. You and Peter were the most trusting, which led you both to some pain but when it was with each other, you both knew you'd be safe.
You held on to Sirius’s shirt with a shaky hand, you jumped at every noise, making you tighten your grip. You looked at Sirius, he didn’t seem scared as he held his lantern. You were completely terrified of the dark but you would never admit it but Sirius was clued in from how violently you were clutching to his sleeve. He stopped and looked at you. "Nothing in the dark isn't in there in the light."
"It isn't about that."
You scowled at the boy who had gotten you dentition. He smiled as he looked around.
"It's rather peaceful if you just g-" he opened the lantern and blew out the light, making you yelp.
"Sirius-" he put his hand over your mouth
"Shh, just listen."
You pulled his hand off your face and looked around. Slowly you heard soft twinkling and buzzing. You saw dainty pink sparkles swirl around as Sirius grabbed your hand, leading you closer, quietly stepping. Eventually, the two of you came to what appeared to be a fairy dance party. You both gently sat down and watched them.
He looked at you, "I take back what I said, some things are not there in the light. But that doesn't mean they're bad."
You were wadding in the cold water, focused on the plants when you heard your name, You looked at saw Remus waving and walking at you. You smiled and waved back. Remus came to find you to ask you a very important question.
"Hey Rem, what's up?" you asked as you bent to pick up a purplish plat that smelled awful. You walked to the edge where you had put your jars and grabbed one to put it in.
He just watched you for a minute before asking the question, "We... We've been together for two years."
"Yes, best two years ever... Why?"
He walked closer to the bank and sat down, slowly taking off his shoes. "I just, I am wondering if you still... like me?"
You sighed lightly, "Remus, If I didn't like you, I wouldn't have put up with you for two years."
"Am I that bad?" he asked, lighter in his voice. He put his feet into the cold water before jerking them back lightly, the water was freezing, it felt as if the ice had barely thawed. "Damn, that's cold, how are you not frozen?"
"I got used to it and no, no you're not." you said dipping your hand back down into the water.
He watched you feel around blindly for a moment til he asked another question, "What are we going to do after graduation?"
"Well, I am going to study to be a professor like you said I should."
"What are you going to teach? Herbology?"
"No, No. This is a hobby. I was going to go for potion but the potions classroom gives me the creeps. Maybe I could do Muggle Studies."
"You'd be perfect."
You laughed, "Pretty much an expert on it! What are you going to do?"
He looked down, "I don't know... Options are limited for people like me."
You frowned lightly, "Rem, I think you'd be a good professor. You said a few months ago that you would love to teach Defense Against The Dark Arts."
"But-"
"There are few people good enough to teach and you are one. Please, at least try."
He looked up at you, "Fine. Though, way back when, you said something about opening a shop and that sounded lovely."
You opened another jar to scoop up some mud, "Yeah. I thought about that too. A book store. We could sell books and coffees for the people that stayed to read their books."
"A Cafe Bookstore," he said looking out across the lake at the sun slowly dipping down over the mountains. "Together."
"Forever." You stepped out of the lake and grabbed your shoes, you put them on. They were your lake shoes anyway.
You looked down at him, "I love you." you said, without thinking.
He looked up at you, eyes glowing. "I love you more." he stood up and grabbed your jar-filled bag.
"I love you most."
"Oh, I love you so much more than most."
It was a playful contest all the way up to the castle.
You were now walking in the train compartment, tears in your eyes. You and your friends talking in hushed whispers. It was supposed to be a happy day but there had been a terrible accident in James's hometown. You all knew there was a war, it weighed heavily on your minds but never had it been so close to one of your front doors.
"What should we do?" Lily asked, hand on James's shoulder.
"Obviously we join the fight," Sirius said, matter-of-factly.
"Are you sure it's a good idea? Aren't they close to stopping it anyway?" Peter said.
Sirius rolled his eyes, "How do you know that? Besides, we can't just... Ignore it."
Remus shook his head, "We should at least try to help. In any way that we can. We may not have to actually fight."
"I am not going to be a pathetic cowardly spy!" Sirius snapped.
"It isn't about you!" Remus snapped back.
"Stop fighting the both of you," James said sternly. He looked at all his friends. "I say we join," he looked around and shut the door, "Think for a minute, they are expecting older wizards. We go and fight and they'll never suspect us."
"What about our families?" you said. You looked at them, "Don't they need us?"
Sirius scoffed, "No."
James shook his head.
Peter just looked at the ground and fidgeted.
Remus looked at you, he knew what you really meant: You were scared of bringing your mother into this.
Lily had a similar fear. "She has a point. Though, I think it would be best to prevent it from getting to them by fighting."
Remus slipped his hand into yours. "Lily is right. Peter?"
Everyone looked at the short blonde, he sighed, "Alright."
Sirius slapped his hands together, "Let's go kick some ass!"
“You’ll be there tonight?”
Remus turned his head, his eyes finding yours. He couldn’t get what you just said since he was too focused on forcing himself not to stare at you and your endearing features. “What?” he said as he cleared his throat, trying not to seem flustered.
You shake your head with a chuckle “You’ll be there tonight?” you saw his eyebrows knitted together in confusion “The party I mean” You really wanted Remus to go. You loved parties, it was a break from school pressure and allowed you to relax for a night. Sure, you were grateful to be a fast learner but burnout was easy for a gifted child who craved academic validation. Anyone in Hogwarts who wanted to have great grades needed to sacrifice a part of their mental health.
But parties were there to help you. And Remus too. You had a long week and just wanted to rest your brain and the party was a good way but it would be even better if Remus was by your side for the entire night.
You held your gaze on the boy, trying to let him know with the look in your eyes that you wanted him to be there. His lips tugged up “Sure” he offered you the softest smile, his cheeks light pink.
It was rare to see Remus being shy, he actually was the type to be sarcastic and teasing with everyone if he wasn’t just wearing a blank face. But you didn’t remark this, you were maybe smart but totally clueless when it came to other people’s feelings. That’s something your friends always made fun of. You were a total flirt but never knew if they flirted back, liked you and were just shy persons.
You grinned a large smile “Great!” you got up and brushed off the grass that was stuck to your pants. Remus and you decided to spend some time together near the Black Lake and it was now time to leave, you had a long week and wanted to take nap before the party.
Remus watched you as you took your bag off the floor and slid it on your shoulder. When your eyes landed on Remus, it seemed like he really wanted to smile but stopped himself from doing it, his pupils were shining and he looked genuinely happy. He truly was handsome.
“See you tonight!” you bent down, pressing a brief kiss to his scarred cheek. You quickly walked away, not seeing the hard blush on Remus’ face and his wide eyes, he had to take a deep breath and a good minute to get up.
:・゚✧*:・゚
Remus lifted his head, hoping to see you enter the room as he saw a group of students coming from the corner of his eye but unfortunately, you weren’t there yet. He was wondering where you could be and just wanted you to be by his side.
As he was lost in his own thoughts he felt someone grabbing his shoulder, he turned around with a small jump, not expecting any physical touch.
He faced a very smiling Sirius “Waiting for your lovebird?” he said with a wide smirk. Remus looked back at the entrance of the common room, rolling his eyes at his friend’s comment.
James came by their side “Who are we looking for?” he nudged Remus in the ribs, showing the crowd starting to form with a head movement.
“Y/n~” Sirius sang as he sent a wink to the tall boy who let out a sigh, hating that he was right. Remus didn’t even bother listening to whatever his best friends were talking about, you were the only thing in his mind at the moment.
But as the waiting began to be long and he started to overthink, he drank a glass of firewhiskey. Then two.
It was his fourth glass when you stepped into the room, it was just the only way he found to spend time. His eyes met yours and his lips immediately extended into a wide smile.
He got up from the couch and that was the moment he realised how much he had drunk without break. Lily next to him let out a chuckle, knowing very well why he was in this state “Go get her” she laughed and Remus nodded as he headed to you.
He approached you, his hand grabbing your shoulder. You turned your head, smiling when you saw him. Without thinking you wrapped your arms around his middle, hugging him to express how happy you were to find him.
“I’m sorry for coming so late. I forgot to set up an alarm and woke up like 40 minutes ago.” you said with an apologetic smile. But Remus beamed down at you and breathed a quiet ‘It’s okay’.
You chuckled “How much have you drank already?” Remus let out a sigh before bringing you to his chest so you would shut up, with your face pressed against his shirt.
“Take a drink and leave me alone” he said grumpily but you could hear his smile as he talked. You pushed away from his embrace before walking to the buffet, shoving a few appetisers in your mouth and filling a glass.
You joined Remus on one of the couches, you could see he was more tactile than usual but you weren’t going to complain, his arm looped over your shoulders you felt protected and relaxed.
You felt his gaze on you as you did anything “What?” you laughed, your eyebrow raising as he was staring down at you.
Remus blushed and looked away “Nothing” he let out a long breath before looking at you from the corner of his eyes “You- You’re just really pretty” That’s it. He just said it. What he wanted to tell you since he first met you months ago.
“O-oh” you weren’t expecting this and warmth raised to your entire face. You had a foolish smile on your lips “You’re pretty too”
Remus didn’t know if it was because of the alcohol in his blood or just the genuine comment you just said, but he wanted to kiss you. His mouth was agape, looking at you in such admiration, he was adorable when he was flustered.
It wasn’t the first time he had the urge to kiss your soft-looking lips but he never dared, you were so confident, he was even surprised you weren’t taken, every sane person would love to date you. But the new form of adrenaline gave him the confidence he didn’t have sober. He leaned down, his right hand cupping your cheek.
You knew what he was going to do. And you wanted the same thing as him. The only problem that was floating in your mind was ‘does he really want to kiss you? Or it’s just the euphoria of the night?’ “Wait” you whispered when his lips almost touched yours.
Remus cocked his head to the side. “Do you really want this? It’s not just alcohol?” you asked quietly.
The boy nodded eagerly “Of course, I wanted to since I first led my eyes on you” you grinned when he talked, that was the sweetest thing someone ever told you.
“You’re not going to regret this tomorrow morning?” you were scared your dream will disappear when you will wake up and Remus shook his head with wide eyes, he was begging you in silence and you couldn’t resist anymore.
“Just one.” his lips tugged down in disappointment “C’mon, if you still like me in the morning we will have plenty of time to kiss” This time you were the one initiating the kiss, your hand on his scarred cheek, tilting his head down so you could reach for his lips. He didn’t wait before kissing you back, his hand coming behind your neck.
Fireworks exploded in Remus’ stomach, he couldn’t believe what was happening. He never wanted to stop, he loved you too much to break the kiss right now.
You pulled away for air but Remus chased for your lips and you giggled. “I said one” Remus sighed, burying his face in the crook of your neck with a muffled groan. When you tore your stare away from him you saw all his friends looking at you with big smirks and you let out an awkward laugh.
Remus could feel your embarrassment and he gazed up at where you were looking. He grunted when he saw his idiots of friends “Leave us alone” he told them with furrowed brows before grabbing your hand to lead you to a more quiet place.
The said place ended up being his dorm. He just plopped down on his bed, waiting for you to join him. He made sure his face was close to yours, and it made you laugh “So I can kiss you when I wake up” he let you know before hugging you to sleep.
