Chance Encounters (Maribat idea I'm throwing around)

Marinette moves to Gotham to pursue fashion. She has to finish her last year of high school at Gotham Academy and do an internship over the summer, but if she does she gets a massive scholarship to Gotham University. They were more than happy to help out Jagged Stone's famously young personal designer. Obviously, this puts her in classes with Damien Wayne, who barely talks and only ever calls his brothers by their last names.

Jagged insists on setting her up in a penthouse for her stay in Gotham, but Marinette argues that being a single girl living in a fancy penthouse is like asking one of the Gotham rogues to kidnap or rob her. They compromise on a nice apartment with a state of the art security system, one owned by Wayne Enterprises. Another tenant on her same floor, Jason Todd, stops by to scope out the new neighbor. He seems nice enough, but he keeps calling his older brother "Dick" and Marinette can't tell if that's his name or just an insult. Apparently he does this whenever someone new moves in to see if he’ll have to move. Marinette tells him to let her know if he does, Because she says if he doesn’t feel safe living in this building anymore, she definitely wants to leave. Jason is amused by this and decides she can stay.

It doesn't take long for Marinette to encounter Gotham's bad side. After a few months of living there she's seen plenty of rogue attacks. She's been lucky enough to stay out of it. After all, if the villains aren't magical there's nothing her Miraculous Cure could do anyway. Her luck is apparently starting to run out though, because now she's being held up at knife point in an alley. She obviously takes the guy down after years of being Ladybug and calls the cops. Dick Greyson is the officer on scene. He's incredibly friendly and is super impressed that she managed to take the guy down, but Dick has seen corrupt cops take people in for self-defense if it means someone else owes them a favor. He gives her his personal cell in case anything like this ever happens again.

Through all of this, Marinette has been spending more and more time with Damien at school. Marinette is hesitant to trust all the smiles and niceties around her after Lila's manipulation and wants to truly get to know someone before she puts any trust in them. Damien is the only exception. She was warned of his reputation as the "Ice Prince" of GA before meeting him and found talking with him to be incredibly refreshing. There was absolutely nothing fake or over the top about him. He was straightforward and down to earth and Marinette found comfort in that. She decided that she trusted him on day one. Likewise, Damien finds her skeptical attitude toward the other students to be incredibly validating. Growing up in the League, everyone was always pretending, even to the other assassins. You had to act a certain way around the right people, and manipulation was the key to survival. Marinette seems to notice people trying to take advantage of her and recognize when someone just wants a favor, and he respects that. Regretfully, and to Jon's great joy, Damien finds that he thinks of her as a friend.

Word eventually gets out that Marinette is Jagged's designer. This is, of course, entirely Jagged's fault. Some good comes out of all the extra attention, though, when she learns that the co-CEO of Wayne Enterprises is a fan of hers. He makes a commission for a new suit and, upon learning of her situation, offers her a position as his families personal designer over the summer to meet her internship qualifications for GU. They set up a meeting in person for her to take measurements once her midterms are over.

When everything is going well though, something has to throw a wrench into things. The Batfamily raids one of Black Mask's warehouses late one night, and Red Hood takes a few too many bullets and a pretty big hit to the head. The kevlar took most of the hits for him, but he's badly bruised and nursing a concussion. It's the concussion that causes him to stumble into the wrong window of his apartment building and scare his new neighbor half to death. Marinette does what she always does and helps the vigilante without question. To do that though, she has to take off his helmet. She assumed he would have a mask underneath or something. He does not. Marinette is not as surprised as she probably should be, and Jason is pissed when he wakes up. He realizes after a while that this isn't her fault. She's been taking care of him since he was too stubborn to go to Bruce, and if she wanted him or his family dead she could have done something about it by now. He decides to put a little trust in her, but keeps an eye on her just in case. This is what clues him into the situation. In her time here in Gotham, she's managed to meet all of the Wayne brothers aside from Duke, and she has no idea they're even related.

Jason, of course, finds this absolutely hilarious and wants to see just how far this madness can go. He sends Duke to her favorite coffee shop. He refers Marinette to the same dance studio as Cass. Marinette, completely on her own to Jason's disbelief, enters the same Ultimate Mecha Strike tournament as Stephanie and absolutely destroys her. Jason lives for the chaos and Marinette is completely oblivious.

Eventually, after a few AO3 tags (slow burn, feelings realization) Marinette and Damien start dating. Damien feels guilty for hiding that he's Robin from Marinette, but he knows that he'd be sharing more than just his own secret and doesn't want to betray his family's trust. He realizes that if he wants to share everything with her, his family has to trust her as well. She'll have to meet them. He tells Marinette all of this, and she shares that she's been keeping her own secret as well. Marinette hasn't told him about Ladybug even after Tikki has given her blessing, and she's been feeling guilty about it as well. She encourages him to tell her whenever he feels ready and assures him that she can wait until then. She trusts him, and she asks for that same trust in return.

Damien trusts her of course, and everything goes back to normal for about 30 seconds. Then, Damien starts trying to prepare her for the chaos she's about to find in his dining room that night. Little by little, Marinette starts to realize that she already knows every single person he's talking about. Only, that means so much more than she could have realized, because if Jason is Red Hood and his brother "the Dick" is Nightwing, then that means Dick Greyson is Nightwing and Damien's older brother, which makes Damien Robin, and oh no she thinks she knows exactly what that secret is that he didn't want to share yet.

DCU from a Marvel fans limited perspective

recently i've accidently been sucked into the DCU universe, mostly Bat family, if i'm being honest, and although i've never watched a single movie/episode, this is what i have gathered from purely reading the occasional fanfiction/lots of tumblr posts

SPOILERS i guess

There are A LOT of batkids

Bruce Wayne adopts these motherfuckers like they're some kind of limited edition pokemon set

no one is actually sure how many there are but if you have black hair and blue eyes and live in gotham, Batman doesn't care if you've got parents or not. you're coming home with him

There appears to be five Robins and Batman goes though these children like a chainsmoker with a pack of cigarettes

people die a lot

Thats okay though because people come back to life a concerning amount as well

Jason Todd died and came back to life by being dumped in a pit of magical water

Damien Wayne is the only biological child of Bruce and he mentions this a lot

Dick Greyson was the first Robin and the first adoption and i think he and Bruce got in a fight and he left to become Nightwing

Jason Todd stole the Batmobile's wheels and became the second Robin. after he came back to life he became Red Hood

Tim Drake was not an orphan, he just fit Bruce's target demographic and was conveniently close (I mean come on, it's like express shipping) He is also some kind of super-genius. He was the third Robin but became Red Robin/Drake

Stephanie brown(?) was the fourth robin(?), not sure for how long. People get upset when other people forget. I think she's called Spoiler or something

Damien Wayne is the final Robin. Hes this assassins son and im pretty sure Talia dropped him off at the Wayne Manor and said, "I had him through the terrible twos, you get the teen years'

Not entirely sure if Tim runs Wayne enterprises

Brucie wayne is the funniest fucking thing i swear

He's so stupid

not sure is Tim, Dick and Jason follow Bruce's lead and become absolute airheads as well

Alfred is a butler

I'm a sucker for Bruce and Dick's age gap being small. Like a 13 year age difference. A sort of old enough to parent but still young enough to be a sibling situation.

Ex:

8 year old dick and 21 year old Bruce who is only months into his batman career

10 year old greyson and 23 year old Bruce who's a couple years into batmaning

13 year old dick greyson and 26 year old Bruce Wayne who's finally in the full swing of how to batman solo and now has to figure out how to vigilante as a duo and as mentor

Or even an au with

5 year old dick greyson and 18 year old Brucie, who has to take this gremlin on his "world tour," while he trains for batman. And has to carefully balance his training and keeping the goblin out of trouble at the same time.

Y/n sighed as she stood at the top of the stairs in Wayne Manor.

Bruce was hosting a party for the people who invested in the company.

As his biological daughter, she had to be part of it.

She walked down the stairs, her heels clicking on the tile floor.

She looked around trying to spot anyone she knew but there were too many people.

She sighed and walked over to the bar.

“Good evening Miss Y/n.”

She turned and saw Alfred. “Hello Alfred.”

He handed her a drink. “Your favorite.”

“Thanks Al.” She took a big gulp.

“Too many people?”

She nodded.

“Why not hang out as you young ones say?”

“Can’t find Dick.”

Alfred looked up and saw him.

Y/n followed his gaze. “That would be why.” She said with a groan.

“May I suggest that you make him jealous.”

“Oh that’s exactly what I plan to do.”

She got up and walked over to her best friend.

“Hey Jay-bird.”

Jason turned when he heard her.

“Hey Chika. You okay?”

She motioned to Dick and Jason groaned.

“He’s that stupid.”

“Wanna help me make him jealous?”

“And mess up his night?” He pulled her into his side. “Abso-fricking-lutely Songbird.”

Dick saw Y/n curl into Jason’s side and looked away.

The girls that surrounded him notices the change in his mood.

“What’s wrong Dick?” One of the blondes asked.

“Nothing.”

“Looks like Miss Wayne is having fun with your brother.” A fake redhead said pulling on his arm.

“She’s not worth it Dick.” Said a brunette.

Jason kissed Y/n’s cheek.

“They got nothing on you Songbird.”

He spun her around making her dress fan out around her.

“You look absolutely stunning in that dress.”

“Thanks Jay-bird. Daddy took one of my designs to a friend and she made it for me.”

Bruce walked over to Dick and noticed the mood change in him.

“Why don’t you go ask her to dance?”

“She’s having more fun with Jason.”

“I bet she would dance with you. You just have to ask her.”

Dick sighed. “Fine.”

Dick walked over to Y/n and Jason.

“Y/n would you dance with me.”

“It’s a waltz. I’m going to warn you I have two left feet when it comes to a waltz.”

“I don’t mind.”

“Okay.”

He walked her to the dance floor and started to dance.

“So why didn’t you ask one of the ladies that were with you to dance.”

“Because I wanted to dance with you Songbird.”

“So you were listening to Jay and I talk.”

“Why? Do you have some kind of secret you don’t want me knowing?”

“No.”

“Then why flirt with my brother.”

“I wasn’t flirting and he’d be pissed to hear you say that.”

“You were too.”

“Why do you care?” Y/n said getting mad.

The music stopped and Y/n walked back over to Jason.

Dick walked over and pulled her away.

“Are you doing this to get my attention?”

“Yes you stubborn fool!”

“Why?”

“Cause I love you!”

Everyone around them turned to look at them except Jason.

“You love me?”

“Yes I love you. I have since Dad took you in.”

“Can we talk away from all these people?”

Y/n nodded.

They walked away and Jason smiled.

Dick lead Y/n out onto the terrace.

“You wanted to talk so tal...”

Dick turned and kissed her.

Y/n’s eyes went wide before she melted into the kiss.

He pulled away and smiled. “I love you too.”

Inside; Bruce, Alfred and Jason all smiled.

“It’s about time.” Jason said walking to the door.

“Thanks again Jason.”

“Anything for my best friend.” He said walking out.

Y/n and Dick walked back inside and noticed all the ladies starring at them.

Y/n turned to face him and wrapped her arms around his neck.

“They got nothing on you babe.” He said with a wink. “Show them I’m taken.”

Y/n smirked and pulled him lower.

“You’re all mine.” She said loud enough for them to hear.

She kissed him and the others all screamed.

This is the other pic I was talking about a moment ago. I’m not sure if this counts for the tags listed but they are meant to be fankids/fankid versions for Clark & Brainy. I say “fankid versions of” cause the first two exist already, Vlad(name I made for him, he's Van-El according to wiki) is from a hallucination/dream Clark had in an episode of Justice League Unlimited & Conner is well he’s from Young Justice. So here are Vlad, Conner, Kara(jr, I don't have a better name) & Lain. The first three are Clark & Brainy's kids while the last is a descendant from further down the line. Under the keep reading is their bios & the pic I redrew this from. Sorry about some of the rambling you’ll see. Update: Vlad's name is now Van, Vlad was the only name I could think of starting with "V". A friend pointed out I should just go with Van. I haven't edited anything to show the changes(there's some other changes not added but mentioned further under the keep reading) asides from this sorry.

Left to right Knock Out/Vlad Kent/Van-El: Age 17 Vlad is the oldest of Clark & Querl's kids, he is Conner's older twin & the vigilante Knock Out. He's a bit of a friendly jock that enjoys hanging out with friends & spending time with family. Vlad got into boxing & with practice to hide his super strength has worked into making boxing a hobby. He gets along well with his dad & helps out on his grandparents' farm when he can. Vlad is a ClarkxBrainy version of the character Van-El from the episode of Justice League Unlimited called "For the Man Who Has Everything" were he was Clark's son from a dream(caused by a dangerous plant put on him) were he had the perfect life & got to stay on a Krypton that didn't get destroyed. Clark couldn't help but feel like it was fitting to name his first son after the one from that dream as it felt like the son that never existed finally got to have a life of his own. Aside from that Clark has let Vlad choose his own path which like the rest of his family lead to him being a superhero. Superboy/Conner Kent/Kon-El: Age 17 Conner is the second oldest/technically middle child of Clark & Querl due to being Vlad's younger twin & Kara's older brother, while he likes being around his friends he's not exactly the most out going person. At some point he joined the Teen Titans thanks to his friend Robin/Dick Greyson & so helps out with the section that is stationed in Kansas. Conner is dating Miss Martian & has managed to make friends with someone known as Eye Robin/Watcher.(I’ll explain eventually) He's close with his mom & sister, he sometimes has trouble talking about things to his dad but they get along. Conner is a ClarkxBrainy version of Conner/Superboy from the cartoon Young Justice, his outfit is a mix of that version's outfit & that one Superboy that wore a bike jacket & circular sunglasses. Miss Brainiac(later Brainiac 7)/Kara Jr Kent/Kara-Kal-El: Age 14 Kara is an energetic girl that inherited her mom's super brain, while her brothers are pretty smart she focused more on it. Much to her mom's dismay she got the Brainiac 7 title(it would be 6 but after the incident with Brainiac 6 that lead to Querl being fully organic), while Kara wants to use it for safety reasons(Since Brainiac is a villain) she goes by Miss Brainy/Miss Brainiac.(Some how no one thought about her hero name being Brainiac with Miss in front of it) An incident that lead to Kara being in a coma in the hospital for a little lead to her wanting to become stronger which lead to wanting to be a superhero. Kara is named after her aunt who went missing at some point, she wants to make her aunt proud by doing her best to technically be the next Super Girl as Miss Brainiac. Kara will eventually after collage move to her mom's time & join the Legion of Superheroes as Brainiac 7. Brainiac 11/Lain Kent/Lain-???-El: Age 15 Lain is a descendant of Clark & Querl from one of Kara's descendants & from Superman X/Kell-El's time in what Kell-El's time became after saving it. While she can be a bit overly cheerful if not a bit odd(think of Happy/Yellow Ena from Joel G's), this might come from her enjoyment of teasing people sometimes. I guess you could say she could be a Cheshire Cat if she wanted to. At some point in time one of Kara's descendants married a Coluans so Lain is a tad cyborg like as a result though her family lives on Earth & works with the 41st Legion of Superheroes. Despite keeping up the Brainiac lineage/title her family continues on the House of El name.(I dunno what I'm getting at) Lain can often be seen hanging out with other members her age or interacting with Kell-El, who has been taken into her family. Before the redesign Lain's name was Querl as if she was named after one of her ancestors. I've since given her a name of her own.(Don’t have one for Kara Jr sadly) Update: So the friend I was talking to about Vlad's name helped me with some updates cause they're kind of helping me & this is kind of part of something we were working on that I'm not going to explain here. Vlad's name is now Van, he's also with Miss Martain now. Conner is with Tim Drake. Sorry if this is odd it's mostly my friend's idea.(Well for Vlad being Van & Conner with Tim) Here’s the original pic, a lot has changed since I drew this. It was posted April 15, 2014 on DA. I dunno why I made Kara & Lain(technically Querl jr at the time) have a Mad Hatter theme. Kara was also described as being like Pinkie Pie. For a little I had this project idea called Tokyo Power Panic were a bunch of Tokyo Mew Mew & Power Puff Girls OCs would make a team.(like Justice League) Lain was mentioned in the original post as moving to Tokyo to join it.

obviously you’ve never seen me go from fandom to fandom. because not even last month I was obsessing over harry potter/marauders and not even last week I was non-stop talking about merlin. Young Justice Dick Greyson X in danger Civilian reader

SPOILERS for Young Justice seasons 1-4. Also, this is for fun. I don't own anything from Dc. This is just some fun writing!

During this time, Dick struggled to balance his personal life with his hero's life. He’s Nightwing, and balancing university is an even bigger stressor. However, you, as their amazing partner, are very understanding. At this time, you found out Dick was Nightwing/Robin two years ago when he came to date night with a black eye, and well, he ran out of excuses. He couldn’t hide it anymore. You know how dangerous his job can be, and you want to bring up wanting him to take a break. He’s the leader of the team. However, he should step down and take a step back like Wally and Artemis. Your safety is always his biggest concern; however, his biggest fear has come to life he wasn't there to protect you. Kaldur and Artemis are still working undercover, and when they have to make a ploy to break into the hall of justice, you were at the right place wrong time.

-Buzz Buzz-

Dicks alarm rang; you rolled over and clung to his muscular arm. Dick groaned, and usually, he would get up to start his day; however, he hit snooze and turned to look at your face. “Moring.” He said with a smile as he kissed the top of your head. “Don’t remind me.” You said as Dick pulled you up on top of his bare chest. His abs were soft because he wasn’t flexing, and his skin was nice and warm. “I know I didn’t want the sun to rise ehtier.” He showered you with kisses. “So, what's your plan for today?” He asked with a smile. “School, study group, and coming home to an empty bed.” You sighed, and Dick rolled his eyes. “I’m sorry; I’ll make it up, I swear.” For the past week, he has been coming home at 3-5 in the morning, and you couldn’t sleep well for fear Bruce would come to you with bad news. “Do you want me to make it up now?” He asked as he started to look you up and down, his thoughts going to his deepest desires. “You and that dirty mind of yours.” You joked and closed your eyes

After ten minutes of debating, you two should sleep a little or get started with your day. Dick decided to make breakfast. As you prepped the coffee pot, you were slow and deliberate with your movements. Dick flipped the pancakes, and through his peripherals, he noticed, “what’s on your mind?” you froze and stared to read you the way you held the cup meant you were nervous about something. “I can’t hide anything from you.” You liked that he could read you; it made communication easy. “I want to talk.” Dick raised his eyebrow as he poured more batter into the pan “about?” he questioned, “after Kaduar and Artemis's mission… could you step down as leader for at least a semester? I envy Wally’s and Artemis's relationship and don’t ever fake anyone’s death again. It’s starting to weigh on me. I’m tired of lying to Conner, Megan, and Artemis's mother. Plus, Kadar is my closest friend. It hurts hearing people hate him.” You wrapped your arms around yourself as a hug, and Dick turned off the stove and wrapped his arms around you, giving you a warm hug. “I promise I will never fake something like this. But about me stepping down, we have to save that topic for another time. Right now, I’m not ready.” He lifted your chin to meet your eyes. “When can we talk about it?” You asked with a bit of sass. “I don’t know… how about after the Kadar and Artemis mission?” He proposed “the team still needs me, and I can’t leave things half asked.” You nodded your head in response. “I understand it was selfish of me.” Dick kissed the tip of your nose and smiled “it’s not selfish. What your feeling is valid. I would be offended in you didn’t care.”

With that, you were a bit calm. Dick and you ate a warm breakfast and then prepared for the day. Dick wore casual clothes, but under his hero suit, the boom tube was a three-mile walk. So he had to wear something simple as you finished getting dressed; he laid his hands on your hips and pulled you in, giving you a tight hug “Dick?” you questioned. “Sorry, I just wanted to keep you close.

Classes were surprisingly laid back. It could be because midterms were coming up. You sent a text to Dick telling him how classes went, yet again, not a text back. It wouldn’t be till hours later.

Sent at (3:30)

Barbra- “Hey, sorry that this is late. I can’t make it to the study group… some here stuff came up. I’ll make it, I swear!” (Y/n read 3:31)

Y/n- “No sweat, I get it! Be safe. We can reschedule some other time!” (Barbra read 3:31)

It’s always something with heroes. You got it; however, some of you wished they weren’t heroes and ordinary people. As you moped about not seeing Barbra today, another text was sent.

Sent at (3:33)

Tim- “Dicks is mad. It seems like the mission is going overtime. He sent Beast Boy, Blue, and me back to base. He’s dreading letting you know.” (Y/N read at 3:33)

Y/n- “Thanks for letting me know, Tim. Be safe. Hopefully, I can stop by and drag you guys for dinner. You guys must be starving.” (Tim read at 3:34)

You laughed at your phone and started to joke back. “What so funny?” A familiar voice caught your attention. “Conner!” you said with a smile, and Conner smiled back. You showed him the texts, and he chuckled. “I remember when Dick was mad, we would always call you to come over because Dick tried to put on a calm and put-together act. Somethings never change… well, a lot has changed.” He clenched his fist. You reached over and touched his fist to calm him. “I know that out of the four of us; you were close to Kaduar and Artemis. I never asked how you were doing Artemis was like your sister, and now she's gone, and Kaduar he. I just can’t imagine how it impacted you. You know what toll it’s taken on the rest of us. You have probably been taken care of, Dick. Ok, now I’m ranting, but how about we get some coffee from the hall? I have special access.” It killed you to keep up with this act, but it was for the greater good. “I’d like that, Conner.” You and Conner had come a long way before he kept his distance, scared that you would be the only person in the group that hated him, and now he’s one of your greatest friends.

-Dicks POV-

Y/n is going to kill me; I need somthing grand to make this up to her. The boys were laughing and running around with Tims's phone. “What so funny?” I asked them as I tried to distract myself from the mission. It was a smile to get some info, but it quickly went sideways. “Y/n is coming!” Beast boy said happily. Shit, this was bad Kaduar is coming to make a hostage situation, and there will be a camera so they can’t see her; otherwise, they will be in danger. “Shit!” I thundered, “Oooo BB, you're in hot water!” Blue said as Tim looked worried. “Are you two in a fight?” He questioned with fear in his voice. “No, we're not. I just… they want me to step down for a semester,” I respond without giving away why I don’t want her here. “Oh, have you talked to Bruce about it? He would want to know.” *Boom!* Ah, perfect, it’s Barbra who looks tired from the boom tube. I could just tell her to meet up with her for a bit.

*Crash!* Kaduar is very early. This is not ok Y/n could come here at any minute. Wait a second, and They are in the hall I check my tracker on them. Ok, now it’s time to act my ass off. “Tim!” Barbara yelled as she pulled him to where Beast boy and Blue were at. “Kadar, what are you doing here!” I yelled as his goons blocked the boom tube. Artemis was nowhere to be found. “I’m going to make this friendly and easy, alright. Give me the access code to the hall. Or my partner Tigress will make a mess of things.” Kaduar said with a stern face. Barbra gasped, and I knew precisely why Y/n was in the hall. Oh, fuck me. I had to tell him that Y/n was there.

One of his Goons brought a Tv where it was broadcasting live Tigress in the hall. That glamour charm was working amazingly. The hall wasn’t destroyed yet, but hostages were there, and no Y/n. With each minute, Tigress would threaten a person and destroy something. “Dick, you have to do somthing. We can’t call their bluff.” Barbra said, “Y/n might still be there.” She was right, and I would have to give up the act of “fine it’s.” I gave him the code. “Thank you for the compliance Nightwing,” Kaduar said. To everyone's horror, when the doors opened and Tigress walked down the hall and opened another door, there were Y/n and Conner sipping coffee. “Y/n, stay back!” Conner cried out to her, using his body as a shield. Kaduar looked at me, fearing for the worst. “Nightwing!” Tim yelled, scared for Y/n. “How can you do that to your friend!” BB yelled, “They still say nice things about you even after you killed Artemis!” Blue chimed in the heat of rage. Kaduar grabbed me and threw me into another room “Nightwing!!” The three of them cried out. “Please tell me that Y/n and Conner aren’t there, and that was just a figment my-” I interrupted him and tried to contact Wally to save Y/n. “This wouldn’t have happened if you had listened to me and had done my idea.” Kaduar shook his head. “I don’t want to blow this place up. This was once our home. I-I can’t, Dick.” He sighed. “You have to next time. Stealing something from the Hall of Justice won’t send a clear message; blowing up Mount Justice will.” Kaduar nodded his head and then began to open the door. “Wait… hit me. You gotta make it look like you fought me.”

Once he gave me a good hit, he dragged me out, and to our horror, Conner was on the ground, and Tigress was unconscious, being carried away by one of her goons Y/n had some cuts on their cheek and was on the floor. My blood-boiled Kaduar was frozen in fear. Barbra was fighting back the tears. The boys were in awe, seeing how many hits the Superboy could take. Then one of the Goons hit a-pillars, and the walls started to crumble off and on Y/n. “No!” I yelled so hard that my voice cracked as they flinched and yelled, “Dick, help!” then the live cut off, and I started to run to one of the Boom tubes but was stopped by Kaduar goons. “Stop. We must leave and check on the others. We will have another chance,” Kaduar said as he walked back to his ship. “Sir, should we report this, Y/n? They seem too close to the enemy, and it has affected you and this Dick person who knows he might-” Kaduar turned around and snapped at the man. “There will be no such thing as we drop this right now and never speak of them again. They are dead to me!” It killed him to say that I could tell.

-Y/n POV-

Here I was on the ground feeling guilty seeing my two friends fight. Conner was focusing on trying to shield me. I felt terrible, but what could I do? There's no back door or windows that I escape from. I could see an idea forming in Tigress's eyes as she lunged to grab me. Possibly, she could use me to run, but in truth, to let me escape. However, Conner pulled her away, and in the event, she scratched me across my face and arm. I’m not used to this pain like they are, so when I cried in pain and fell to my knees, Conner snapped and knocked out Tigress, but in trade, she hit him with something so substantial it made him weak and fell to the ground. One of the goons looked around in fear, “fall back!” but before they left, the goon blasted a pillar, and a wall was coming down, and all I could do was say, “Dick, help!”

A gust of wind went by; somehow, I was outside with Conner and in the hands of Wall West AKA, KidFlash. “Wally!” I said, being ever so grateful. He looked panicked, as if he saw a ghost. He gently put me down and said, “I actually made it!” Camera crews started to show up, and Wally took Conner and me to a base where we could get patched up. *Boom!* A Boom tube opened, and Dick ran to me and embraced me. “Dick, I was so scared!” His muscular arms wrapped around me, making me feel safe. “I was too. I’m sorry I wasn’t there to protect you, my darling.” He kissed the top of my head and looked at my cuts “it seems like it won’t scar, but the one on your arms might.” Dick said, guilty as he looked at me. “Can we go home?” I asked him, “Yes, and I promise I won’t leave your side.”

Random Disorganized Thoughts on Marcus

1. Lately I’ve seen a rise in people discussing Marcus. The fandom has always been highly interested in Marcus. I can see why. He is the first real villain of Lab Rats. The actor who played Marcus had great stage presence along with amazing chemistry with the rest of the cast of Lab Rats.

2. Unlike Krane or Gisele who are the cackling villain, Marcus plays mind games. Krane only something close to this in “Taken”(making Donald leave the trio in the lab so he could them out. While Donald tries to save Tasha and Leo) and ”You Posted What?!”(using S1 to expose the trio leading to government arresting them. It gets the trio out of the way). Though, it’s not really on the level of manipulation of Marcus. Krane’s plans are actually quite smart. Marcus, on the other hand, played the long-game. He waited and learned, then he struck.

3. The Marcus and Leo dynamic is one of the most memorable villain/hero dynamics we had the show. Most of the other villains, it’s pretty standard. With Marcus and Leo, it’s almost a battle of wits. Leo knows Marcus is up to no good and is bionic. Leo is trying to prove Marcus is the bad guy and bionic. The problem is no one will believe him. Marcus is enjoying messing Leo. Granted a few times he tries to kill Leo, but the most part, Marcus sees Leo as a non-threat. He messes with Leo because, he can.

4. Douglas is the second most memorable villain on the show. I’ve discuss Douglas impact on the show in the past. Douglas has another interesting dynamic with cast due to being related to most of it. Another discussion for another time. I do think it’s worth pointing out that Douglas and Marcus do have a very unique relationship during the Marcus’ villain days. As Douglas is revealed to be one pulling all strings. It’s interesting to find out that Marcus, the villain we have seeing for most of the show, isn’t actually the big bad.

5. The whole bionic showdown episode and Marcus storyline reminds of the New Teen Titans storyline by the legendary team of Marv Wolfman and George Perez called “The Judas Contract”. This is the storyline in the comics that is basis for Terra’s storyline in Judas Contract Movie, Season Two of Teen Titans cartoon, and Young Justice’s Terra(there are likely other places this story has been adapted that I am forgetting). It is one of the most famous storylines of this run and the Titans in general.

Slight spoilers for comics ahead. Terra in comics(unlike her adaptions) is straight up evil. From the get-go is a mole with the intention of betraying the Titans. She was never their friend and is only using them for information which she passed on to Deathstoke(Slade Wilson) and the HIVE. Later she helps Deathstoke systematicly take out the Titans(except for Dick Greyson as he wasn’t Robin at this point. Fun Fact: This is the storyline where he takes up the Nightwing mantle). Jericho(new friend and future teammate) helps Dick Greyson(now Nightwing) save the Titans and take down Deathstoke. Without spoiling too much, Terra has mental break and ends up trying to killing everyone in HIVE (both hero and villain even herself. Like I said she is straight up evil in the comics) by using her earth powers to bring the whole building down, but only ends up killing herself.

The parallels are there(I am going to assume you the plot to bionic showdown). Marcus being pretty much straight up evil, never a friend the heroes, being a mole from the start, and always planning on betraying the heroes. He even dies by the end of the story. Though, Marcus doesn’t commit suicide like Terra does(both die by building falling on them). I see the parallels with the heroes being taken out systematically to have the hero that got away end up saving everyone. There even is a “I am your father” twist in both(don’t want to spoil it). It’s very interesting how many similarities there are.

Now there are a lot difference since the New Teen Titans comics are much more mature than Lab Rats. The comics do have 1980s Bronze Age fun, but the New Teen Titans comics is a high-stack character drama at its core that just happens to have superheroes in it. Lab Rats was sitcom at its core that just happened to have action, story, and drama elements.

It worth pointing out that Judas Contract storyline left the audience and Titans with important message of everyone is not what they seem and be careful who you trust. The impact of this storyline stayed with Titans for years in a big ways and subtle ways. The impact of this storyline only went away with the 2011 New52 relaunch and the Judas Contact Storyline was published in 1984. That’s how much of an effect Terra’s betrayal had on the Titans.

There is no real message of Marcus’ betrayal for the Lab Rats other than maybe listen to Leo. The effects of Marcus’ betrayal, you can see hints of. There is nothing as massive as the comics. Like seriously, Beast Boy was so messed up after this. He went manhunt for Slade and pretty much almost murdered him. Gar the youngest, most naive and happy-go-lucky, member of the Titans at point turned into this ball of angry and hurt. It was hard to read Gar in this state. Again, the New Teen Titans was much more mature title than Lab Rats so it is to be expected.

Both stories are really good stories, but I do find the similarities interesting. I wouldn’t be surprised if the creators of Lab Rats took inspiration from Judas Contract storyline since at one point, the New Teen Titans was the best selling comic in the world. The comic was outselling Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, and Spider-Man. Even outselling Chris Claremont’s run on the X-Men.

6. I think what interests me is that a lot people want to give him a redemption story. I can see why people want that. Marcus is a fun character. He has unique relationship with pretty much all the cast. A redemption would be fun to see. I don’t know how that would actually happen, but it would have been fun to see.

Out of all the hardships that he had been forced to endure, every ounce and betrayal that a hero faces throughout their mission of sculpting a safe and more just world from the masses of greed and selflessness that have succeeded all sense of morality on this planet, Khaldur had taken willingly, knowing that it was for the greater good. And yet, sitting in his new office on board the watchtower, looking up at one he used to think of as a friend, this utter treachery sunk to new lows that even he could not have predicted.

Khaldur calmly set down that tablet on the table that separated him and his personal Judas so that the endless files that needed to be read over, commented on, and approved were in clear sight of the man.

“You know about this from your time with Batman, didn’t you Richard? And you said nothing.” Dick Greyson smiled down at him, the boyish gleam that never left his eyes intensifying as the man wordlessly smiled, an all too familiar laugh escaping his lips. “There has been no other time in our relationship that your name has been more justified.”

BACKSTORY

Note - I will be editing and refining this again at some point

Born into poverty to a petty crook of a father and a drug-addicted mother, Jason’s life was a struggle from the outset.

His father, Willis, was physically and emotionally abusive toward his wife and son, and soon ended up in prison. That left Jason alone as the sole carer for his mother, Catherine, and forced Jason to resort to crime to support himself and his mom.

Unfortunately, Catherine passed away from an overdose not long after. Jason was forced onto the streets and left to fend for himself by any means necessary, including becoming caught up in the newly revived Red Hood Gang, where he was further subjected to being used and abused by various adults who took advantage of his gentle, trusting nature and vulnerability as a very young and homeless child with nobody to protect him.

During his time with the Red Hood Gang, unknown to Jason, he caught the attention of Talia al Ghul, who, upon returning to her father, expressed an interest in keeping an eye on young Jason.

One night, Jason came across the Batmobile parked in an alley. Batman had recently put new tires on the vehicle but had not replaced the hubcaps with the redesigned ones yet, creating an opportunity that Jason could not pass up.

Batman caught him when he had already stolen one of the tires and was coming to take the others.

Expecting to be beaten for his crime, Jason was surprised to be offered food instead. He and Batman talked while eating, and Batman revealed himself to be none other than Bruce Wayne. He then told Jason that sometimes, they might surprise him if he gave people a chance. Jason would take these words to heart, even years later.

Bruce attempted to help Jason by enrolling him in Ma Gunn’s School for Wayward Boys, not knowing that the establishment was a front for training the children to be criminals. Despite this, Jason did see the place as a home for a while. Realizing his mistake, though, Bruce went to rescue him, and Jason aided him by shoving Ma Gunn out a nearby window. Bruce considered that perhaps Jason could better channel his anger against criminals as Robin, or else the boy would likely end up a criminal himself, so he took him on.

Jason was not the acrobat Dick Grayson was, but he was a smart kid with skills from life on Gotham’s streets.

After six months of intensive training, Jason was out in the field as the second Boy Wonder. Jason was determined to live up to the legacy of Robin that Dick Grayson had put in place, but it soon became apparent that Jason was troubled.

While Jason soon proved to be one of Batman’s most enthusiastic students, he was also the most damaged and traumatized. Jason’s former life on the streets had left him with an ambiguous sense of right and wrong, and it often placed Jason in opposition to the values Bruce was trying to teach him.

Moreover, repeatedly putting Jason into situations that reinforced his trauma led to Jason becoming increasingly more angry and distressed, which Bruce did not know how to address, so he pulled Jason from duty as Robin, effectively taking away Jason’s only coping mechanism and alienating him.

Jason later discovered that the woman he believed to be his mother was not the woman who gave birth to him after finding his birth certificate. The birth certificate was damaged, making his biological mother’s name unreadable beyond the first letter. Jason used the skills he had learned from Bruce and found three women listed in an address book belonging to Willis with names that began with the letter “S” and began attempting to track each of them down to find out which of them was his mother.

Ruling out the first two women after Bruce caught up with him and decided to help, Jason finally tracked the third to Ethiopia.

Jason briefly reunited with his birth mother, Sheila, but it turned out to be a trap as Sheila handed him over to the Joker.

The Joker brutally beat Jason with a crowbar and left him for dead in a warehouse, along with Sheila, with a bomb. Jason attempted to untie Sheila so that he could save her, but neither made it out of the building before the timer ran down and the bomb detonated, killing them both.

Six months after his death, as a result of Superboy-Prime altering reality, Jason awoke in his coffin. Still bearing the injuries that killed him, Jason clawed his way out of his own grave, wandered twelve and a half miles, and finally collapsed, falling into a coma. He was hospitalized as a John Doe as nobody could identify him due to no missing persons report and no fingerprints for him being on file.

After his escape from a psychiatric hospital, Jason spent another year on the streets as a vagrant, still suffering from severe cognitive difficulties and amnesia. However, another petty criminal eventually recognized him as the former Robin and informed Talia al Ghul.

Talia took Todd in out of her love for Bruce, while her father Ra’s al Ghul was interested in the secret behind his resurrection. The League of Assassins tracked and eliminated everyone in Gotham who knew of Todd’s resurrection to prevent Batman from finding out.

They also interrogated Joker’s henchmen, who were with him during Todd’s murder, to discover how the boy could have survived.

After Ra’s decided that the boy was a lost cause, seeing no improvement in his mental condition in the year since Jason was taken in, Talia restored Jason’s health and memory by immersing him in a Lazarus Pit in which her father was also bathing and helped him escape the House of al Ghul.

Later, on Talia’s advice, Jason determined that his death was never avenged and prepared to confront Bruce by traveling across the globe to meet with various people who would teach him the skills necessary to become as good as, if not better than Batman, including spending time with the All Caste.

During his journey, Jason discovered his Robin replacement was Tim Drake, further tormenting him. He also learned that the man teaching him bomb-making was involved in a Russian mafia-backed deal meant to push the resources of British law-enforcement away from mob crime and onto Islamic extremist terrorism with a framed bombing plot. Todd managed to hunt down the gang and safely detonate the bombs. Ironically, the only surviving member of the gang offered Jason the possibility of a large government payday in exchange for his life because he knew the location of someone high on the Wanted list, who turned out to be the Joker.

After learning of the Joker’s arms deal in Los Angeles for another terrorism scheme against Gotham, Jason began to stalk the villain as a masked assassin. After successfully capturing Joker, who failed to recognize him due to being older, Jason contemplated burning his killer alive after dousing Joker with gasoline. However, Jason realized he did not simply want Joker to die but desired to punish the villain with Batman.

Jason spared Joker and decided to wait for the right opportunity. He also admitted to Talia that he knew that she financed his training to stall him from killing Batman, though Jason claimed he had no desire to kill his former mentor anymore.

Talia then gave Jason the idea to be the Batman that Gotham needs. She also hired the same carpenters who built Jason’s casket and had them build a replica of it (the original was destroyed and beyond repair after Jason emerged from it). Jason eventually confronted Bruce at his gravesite before switching places with Clayface to observe Bruce from afar. Witnessing Bruce expressing no remorse for sparing Joker’s life after killing Jason, Jason was further angered.

Jason resurfaced in Gotham as the gun-toting vigilante Red Hood, appropriating the alias that the Joker had used before becoming the Clown Prince of Crime. Back with a vengeance, Jason protected Gotham with his new brand of lethal justice.
