If Midgardsormr got a humanoid simulacrum like Vtra does he would pick a min height fem-ra and I will die on this hill
Reasons:
* he likes being smol
* he laid those eggs guys
* canonically dragons are like "what's a gender" and he probably has less of a clue than any of his kids
* horns & tail & scales still familiar & good
his voice would be exactly the same tho

Raya's favourite things to do with his Dads.
Alphinaud:
Raya loves to listen to Alphinaud read. Alphinaud is the only one allowed to read Raya bedtime stories if he's home!
Also loves playing with the carbuncles. They know to be careful with the very breakable little prince.
Gardening. Raya isn't the most helpful in the world, given he's only 4, but he likes the act of digging and being in the mud! And Alphinaud teaches him about the plants as they 'work'
Estinien:
Trying new food! Estinien likes trying new things and is happy to share them with Raya (as long as they're not mind meltingly spicy). They have their own ranking system!
'Flying'. Now this, they can only do if Rihzu is busy, because if she catches them, Estiniens life would be forfeit and he KNOWS it. But Raya loves being held while Estinien jumps higher than the buildings in Ishgard, or up onto rooftops. And Estinien can't say no when Raya asks!
Buffing Estiniens armour. This started as a one off bit for Estinien where he pretended Raya was a cleaning cloth and used him to 'buff' his armour. Now it's a common occurrence, and Raya squeals with delight every time. Estinien also uses this time to teach Raya about dragoons.
Aymeric:
Going to parliament! With Aymeric being the one that has Raya alone a lot, while Rihzu, Estinien and Alphinaud go off saving the world/universe, Raya goes to work with Aymeric semi often. He loves doing it, getting to sit on Aymerics lap and 'do paperwork' (colour on bits of parchment)
Chocobo riding!!! This is one of Raya's favourite hobbies full stop, but he especially likes getting to go out with Aymeric because he gets to be tucked inside of his coat to stay warm.
Racing! Once he mastered self propulsion in his chair, and mastered how to grip his walker to move around, Raya often challenged Aymeric to a race from place to place. He loves that he wins so often against a grown-up!
Bonus all 3:
CUDDLES! The tiny boy is a cuddle bug and loves it best when his Mama and all of his Dads are home and they cuddle in the big bed with him!

The Professor
Eighteen-year-old Agnes learns not use to LB2 as a healer and is told inns are expensive by the three experienced adventurers she travels with...some of those lessons stick and others don’t. This was a prompt from The Wholesomely Debauched and Enabling Book Club.  SFW.
“Preparing to limit break!” Neila shouted as the boss of the current dungeon she and her party were fighting was on its last legs. “What the…?”
“HEALS FOR EVERYONE!” Eighteen-year-old Agnes Currai yelled, white light enveloping her and the others.
Mauritenne blinked several times.
Brash Waves shook his head.
Once the beast was dead, Neila approached Agnes, who was overjoyed at her first time completing a dungeon. She raised her hand for a high-five, which was fucking adorable if I’m being honest. She’s like a giant adorable puppy. “Congratulations Agi, but the limit break is for me and Mauritenne, not you.”
The teenager’s expression shifted from joy to horror within seconds. “Oh fucking hells! I am SO SORRY! It won’t happen again, I promise. I’m a faster learner! I would never put you all at a disadvantage!”
Is she tearing up? Shit. Neila gave her hand a squeeze. “It’s okay. You’re very new to all this.”
“Trust me, if Brash were angry, you’d know.” Mauritenne chuckled while counting gil. “Besides, congratulations are in order!” He rose (stiffly, his knees must be bothering him, poor dear) and offered his hand. “You’re now officially an adventurer, Agi.”
Agnes blushed and shook his hand. “Thanks.”
“Just don’t do it again, lass. Unless we be in dire straits.” Brash Waves took his share of the gil and then kissed Mauritenne. My two lovers. Simply the best.
Mauritenne then slapped Brash’s behind. “Well, that is unless Brash is unable to move after a night of—”
Agnes’s eyes widened, and she began to laugh nervously. “Fun! Lots of fun! Yes, I’ll keep that in mind.” When Mauritenne handed Agnes her share, she gasped. “Is this all for me?!?!”
“Aye, lass. Don’t spend it all in one place.”
“I-I won’t! I’ll be sending quite a bit home to my Mum and Da—”
Neila smiled and patted Agnes’s arm. “Remember to keep enough for supplies and such for you too, okay? Your parents wouldn’t want you to not be prepared while you’re traveling.” The way Agi speaks about them shows she loves them very much. Maybe we’ll go to Costa del Sol in a few weeks and have a jolly time by the sea…Brash’s nameday is coming up, so it’ll be the perfect excuse.
Agnes nodded eagerly. “Yes, yes. Right! I’ll make sure to have plenty for supplies and inn rooms.”
The three froze in place.
Inn rooms?!?!
“What?” Agnes glanced at the three experienced adventurers. “Do you not use inns? Are we supposed to camp? I’m not the biggest fan of camping…”
“Ye will be. Inns are expensive, lassie. Cheaper to use hostels or camp.”
That’s quite an expression she has her face! A mix of…hmmm, horror and disgust. Oh Agi, you’ll learn.
Agnes once again laughed nervously. “I’m sure. I just like a comfy bed—”
“And I’d like some bloody wine and Neila in my lap. To the pub!” Mauritenne shouted as he began heading back to Gridania. Brash quickly followed, leaving Neila and Agnes alone.
Neila giggled. “You’ll get used to the two of them. However, what they said is true---inns can be very expensive, Agi.”
“I-I’ll keep that in mind, Neila.”
Years later, while watching her two lovers bicker over who took down a beast faster, Neila remembered their friend’s accidental limit break fondly. She never did it again but chose not to take our advice about inns. She foraged or fished to save money on buying meals, so she’d have a comfy bed to sleep in at night. Oh Agi, I hope you’re well. Never ever change.

Okay guys but think about Aymeric for a minute.
He is adopted into a family of nobles when he comes from, possibly, a low born mother who was possibly forced into sleeping with a powerful man like Thordan. Had to keep quiet about it and possibly lose her son right after giving birth. Aymeric grew up hearing rumours about being a bastard, about not deserving his life, about how lucky he is, how he was probably a mistake.
And now he is the only one alive to carry on the Borel name, becomes the lord commander of the temple knights at a very young age, then lord speaker of Ishgard, slayer of Fafnir, unifier of dragons and men after a thousand year of war. All this while he grows up hearing he will never be good enough. Imagine how insecure that must make him. Having achieved so much will not make him think "wow, I really am amazing. Sure showed them!" It will just stress him out even more, thinking he can't do it, he isn't capable enough to carry these responsiblities out, not deserving enough to. In fact, idk if we've ever seen him being proud of himself or even happy? Doesn't he always want to jump to the next task? He is too humble for someone in his position, sometimes it's like he doesn't believe he is actually as good as he is said to be.
I think this is shown by his decision to give up his position as lord commander as soon as they finish dealing with Nidhogg. Like, he will do his duty and stop. Because he doesn't think he can do it anymore. He thinks he is not important enough so he goes to confront his father by himself in the lion's den itself, so to speak. Practically kills his father, almost kills his best friend to do his duty, brings about peace and much needed change and gets stabbed for it. How shit must that make him feel about himself?
Aymeric is so good at being a well spoken, smooth politician, we forget to see how broken he must really be inside and he is all alone. Even Lucia isn't with him anymore, having to stay at Garlemald.
The way his eyes light up every time he sees the warrior of light, calling them 'my friend,' every second sentence, as if pleading to be called the same. Writing to Estinien whenever he can, having a deep wanderlust and adventurous spirit but being unable to fulfil it. He is so much like G'raha in this sense but unlike him, Aymeric hasn't gotten his happy ending yet.
The man is so alone but so dutiful. So insecure but so good at hiding it. He craves connection but his duty forces him to be unable to make it. I cannot imagine how hard he has it.
He needs hugs 😭

hc how i think the scions + some others are religiously
• minfilia - very much religious and loyal about it. it is just a personal thing for her and something that has been a comfort over the years, she would never be preachy but it's not something she hides either.
• y'shtola - y'shtola is very spiritual and believes in a lot of things, but it wouldn't be accurate to call her religious as she would never really care to worship any of them.
• lyse - canonically athiest. she thinks theyre probably real but considers them more a figurehead for people, yet doesnt think they deserve it, as people should live for themselves and their neighbors
• thancred - pays his respects and is passively religious (ie he'll get out of a situation by the skin of his teeth and thank thaliak but that's it).
• urianger - prays from time to time. he believes, but is more spiritual than religious; pays deep consideration to the gods' roles in everything, with a larger emphasis on nature/mysticism
• alphinaud - logical about it; believes more in science, but that science must have came from a god. although not overtly religious, he makes efforts to pay his respects to any and all deities, even if they are not ones he believes are most likely to be real
• alisaie - very similar to alphinaud in that she has a logical/practical approach to religion. though, she wants to believe that every god is real, and prays from time to time when a bit of lingering childishness has her doubtful and she needs a hand
• aymeric - church boy who go to church and read his enchiridion. aware of the dangers misuse of religion can cause (obviously) and aims to eliminate that, but still devout in his worship to halone
• estinien - performs religion more than he actually practices it, as it's just so engrained in ishgardian culture that he's caught some habits secondhand. he believes they exist(/ed), it's just not his thing really.
• haurchefant - tell me haurchefant doesnt seem like the guy you went to youth group with your whole life and your parents want to set you up w him because he seems like a good holy young man but when you hook up he's actually insanely horny
anyway thats all i got 4 now

in ffxiv 5.5, Estinien and G'raha have this missable dialogue on Azys Lla, and they're having two entirely separate conversations without realizing:
G'raha: While I do not claim to know all of her sorrows, I too once found myself in a prison of despair. And I well understand how hard it can be to dare to dream of escape. It took the encouragement of braver souls than I am to make me take the first step towards a brighter future. And now I would help Tiamat do the same.
Estinien: I gather you are not as young as you look.
G'raha Tia: Mayhap when our work here is done, we could trade tales over a pot of Tataru's famous tea?
Estinien: And be indebted to her for the leaves and hot water? I think not.
G'raha Tia: ...I see. Ahem! Returning swiftly to the task at hand, then...
What Estinien was thinking: wow okay so this excitable new Scion intern has actually been through some shit. Oh hells why does this kid keep wanting to hang out? Is he hitting on me? I'm not interested. Better make a joke to turn him down politely. Oh and he has the royal blood of Allag? I thought that was the Exarch? Wasn't he an old man stuck in a tower for centuries? I'm terrible with names, and the Eorzean Alliance briefing was classified and I couldn't bully Aymeric into letting me tag along, and then the Scions' summary was in a damn hurry. Well, it would make sense that there's more than one heir floating around.
What G'raha was thinking: oh gods he doesnt know. He doesn't know. HE DOESN'T KNOW and he's about to realize cause I'm almost certainly going to have to bring up the royal Allag blood here! Uh, quick, be polite so he doesn't think you're the asshole who kidnapped all the Scions! Because you ARE, but you tried not to be an asshole about it! Oh, gods, he doesn't like Tataru, how can anyone not like Tataru? G'raha you idiot, not everyone likes tea! Oh, great, he's probably connected the dots now, and he hates me cause of what happened at Ghimlyt Dark and leaving him alone on the Source to try to sort out Black Rose. FUCK!

dragoon theorycrafting: FRESH DRAGOON LORE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN SIX YEARS (new Rising story)
Tumblr media
SIX YEARS.
FINALLY WE ARE GIVEN A NUGGET OF DRAGOON LORE.
(I'm counting the Stormblood side story in this yes)
HERE HAVE MY STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS UNDER THE CUT
-----------
So where to begin? First off, we're setting Estinien to the side and the fact he's drinking off to the side as well. We'll get back to it, don't worry.
MOTHERFUCKING HALDRATH MAKES A GODDAMN APPEARANCE! AND WE ALSO GET A NEW DOT ON THE OVERALL TIMELINE!
Tumblr media
Ratatoskr's death is in 545. Twenty years later puts this in 565, which means Haldrath has been witness to the gross rewriting of history that's taken place in Corethas.
(also shoutout to @mariyekos and their Haldrath -> Estinien theory let's gooo~~)
So the first Azure Dragoon's shown up, and he is not in a good way. Nidhogg's Eye (the first) has fused itself to his armor, and is now effectively corrupting Haldrath's flesh. He's beginning to have fits more frequently and intensely --moments where Nidhogg's will threatens to override his own. Haldrath has been a solitary hunter of dragons for twenty years, and he is fucking tired. His will is starting to falter.
He passes out from fighting another dragon, and wakes up a while later to find himself in a tavern. And much to his surprise and pleasure, he's among friends-- one of the original Twelve knights who survived and (wisely, I might add), fucked off once Nidhogg was robbed of his original eyes.
Ser Aureniquart de Cordillelot, who decided to open a tavern, and is insinuated in lore to have been the founder of the Forgotten Knight. It's his daughter Berteline who found Haldrath, and she's been raised on stories of him as the dragonslayer. She wishes to be a dragoon like him too!
Berteline however, admits that she didn't find Haldrath on her own, that a voice that sounded like 'storm winds' led her to him. Haldrath, who has recognized that Berteline has drive and passion, realizes that the young woman's been lured by Nidhogg's eye.
(And here is when we enter the territory of fuckery)
At this point, Haldrath makes a choice. He's doing this on the fly, but also probably had been stewing on his thoughts for a while. He's tired. On his last legs. This is probably not how he wanted to do it, but he's got no choice. And Halone seems to have merciful enough to let him be in a safe and warm environment among friends.
Haldrath tells Berteline that she's heard Nidhogg's voice, that the Eye seeks out those who desire power. That it's fused to him, that it's corrupting him, and he is in danger of becoming the elder wrym's thrall. And if that happens, he will be a mighty threat to Ishgard, which is still finding its feet. He looks Aureniquart in the eye and asks that his old friend, his brother knight, kill him before that happens.
Aureniquart refuses to pick up arms against Haldrath.
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
(side note: I'm wondering if Aureniquart was possibly Haldrath's First Knight/general 2IC.)
Haldrath, before the Eye tries for the final time to take him, also officially recognizes Berteline as the new bearer of the evil orb and names her his full successor.
Tumblr media
Berteline de Cordillelot is now charged as the second Azure Dragoon. We won't have another named Azure Dragoon show up until 761, when Valeroyant fends off Nidhogg. (Valeroyant dies two years later in 763).
We are also given confirmation that Azure Dragoons essentially are on a limited lifespan once they receive the Eye. This possibly gives new meaning to this:
Tumblr media
When searched on Google, score is equal to twenty years. Two score and ten equals 50 years. Ere means 'before'.
Basically? 'Your ass will be dead before you turn fifty.'
Which in the story, makes sense because:
Tumblr media
Aureniquart has aged. It's possible that by this time, he and Haldrath were in their mid-40s, if they were in their 20's back in 545.
Becoming the Azure Dragoon is a death sentence. And now your mileage is gonna vary, because not everyone's gonna have the same mindset regarding power and duty and protection of Ishgard. We have the door open for some high level shenanigary here! An Azure Dragoon who may not have wanted to pick a successor? An Azure Dragoon who might have been forced into the job?
(No no we're not discussing Alberic don't @ me I'm typing this out on my phone and it's taking me forever WE WILL POKE AT HIM LATER)
Anyroad.
Haldrath feels one final fit coming on, and knows this is the one that he can't fight against. Nidhogg will claim him. He needs to die. He realizes almost too late that Aureniquart can't kill him, because of the bond of love/friendship/battle blood/loyalty to my liege and he's cursing him to suffer another sin. But Berteline steps up to the plate, puts her hands on the spear, and helps her father perform the mercy kill.
Shoutout to @autumnslance for this spot on commentary on THAT:
Tumblr media
Aureniquart: Perma-traumatized now. Man gets like twenty years of peace and then it just gets blown outta the water. Had to kill your leige-lord as he lay dying on your floor, under your roof, violation of sanctuary and hospitality and your sworn oath to protect him, to spend your life before his own so he could be safe...
What?
Anyroad. We have one final interesting tidbit.
Tumblr media
This...is interesting. Sovereignty has various meanings, but the one that stood out the most to me from Merriam-Webster was 'freedom from external control'. There was also 'supreme power over a body politic', 'controlling influence' and then 'one who is sovereign, especially: an autonomous state'
It's said in lore Nidhogg was dismissive of mankind. And at that point can you blame him? He's lost three siblings to Allag, his other brother's lost his damn mind mooning over some elezen before consensually participating in voreplay, and his sister drank ALL the mortal Kool-Aid.
Oh and baby brother? Is hiding somewhere.
That also possibly has Ascian fuckery hiding somewhere in the depths. What exactly, I don't know what to say or imply. But a good friend of mine pointed out that Nidhogg's attitude towards humans could have been a rather toxic ingredient that could have maybe been added to a growing resentment of dragonkind that had been festering. Maybe old grudges that had been settled by Shiva's sacrifice were coming back from the dead. Maybe mankind was growing too much in the region and was straining natural resources.
We don't know.
Last but not least, Estinien. Nevermind that this man decided to hit up a bottle of Raz-at-Han alchemist-made liquor.
Estinien. Pls.
However there is real world historical context for alcoholic spirits being used to help a body and mind relax so that one can see visions/perform magic. And as I stated one time, we don't know fully about all the changes Estinien has undergone ever since absorbing the remnants of Nidhogg's essence. This could be a random fluke--brought on by unpredictable draconic magic mixing with whatever unholy abomination against the gods concoction this particular Hannish alchemist thought to brew.
(listen Raz-at-Han alchemists fear neither gods, nor man, nor dragons, nor aliens. YOU KNOW I'M RIGHT)
But it's definitely interesting to see more of a solid connection between the first and the last Azure Dragoon. Especially since Haldrath hasn't shown up in anything dragoon connected since the level 50 questline, in which he helps you violently snap Estinien out of a Nidhogg-induced frenzy.
Hoping this story leads us to more dragoon stuff, especially considering the class is getting a revamp in 7.0!

Hi! I love love love you writing! (I've been here all morning, my chores are not getting done lol) Can we get the boys (tm) reacting to/taking care of a WoL who's sick? Like something that requires them to stay in bed and actually rest, something I imagine most WoL's aren't very good at lol maybe a lost, scratchy voice or something too pls <3
Look at these boys, taking care of their poor little meow meow lmao
ff14 boys (tm) taking care of a sick WoL:
Thancred needles you gleefully, but it's playful. What isn't playful is the way he's handling you. Damn but you always forget how strong he is. Easily lifting you off your staggering feet and into bed, from your bed to a bath and back. propping you up with one arm to tip medicine down your throat. A strong, weathered hand checking your temperature, patting your cheek, brushing your hair back so he can lay a cool cloth across your forehead.
In that hazy space between sleep and awake, you think you might even hear him singing to you, low and sweet. It's. Probably just the fever though.
Urianger isn't going to say that he warned you, but. Well. He did kind of warn you.
He doesn't rub it in, either. No, instead he's almost infuriatingly patient with you. When he's easing you into taking foul-tasting medicines, when he's bundling you up in blankets, when he's feeding you soups without letting you so much as lift a finger. He even reads to you-- mostly just dry historical texts that have you dozing off within minutes. It's the best rest you've ever had in your life, and you wake up feeling more alive than ever.
And THEN he will tell you that he warned you :)
G'raha seems like the kind of person who might panic and run around like a chicken with his head cut off. And he might have been, at one point. But he's an older soul now, with experience with a much tougher patient than you: a young Lyna.
He's kind, and gentle, but firm. Yes, you do need to stay in bed. No, you cannot get up. No, he is not going to bring your paperwork or needlework to your bed for you, but he will happily fetch a book for you to read, the new Heavensward memoir perhaps? Yes, you have to take the medicine, but yes you can also have a hot cocoa to chase the taste away.
Estinien stares at you where you're leaning on your lance. You stare at him. He raises an eyebrow. You look away. You can't even give a good excuse-- your voice went out about an hour ago, and you don't have the energy to croak words out around the frog in your throat.
He sighs, scoops you up despite your largely-mute protests, and carries your sorry ass back to the Forgotten Knight. He's no healer, but he remembers the very basics: a roaring fire, hot soup, soothing tea, and rest. It's hard for him, too, he'll freely admit. It feels like there's so much to do, and resting feels like a waste of time.
But if you keep working a damaged muscle, you'll just hurt it further, he reminds you, and helps you with your first few bites of soup. You have to rest, so that, at least if you don't come out the other side stronger, you come out the other side alive.
Aymeric seems calm and composed, but he is 100% internally a screaming chicken. He's already called on the best chirurgeons who would answer, gotten you the best of the medicines they recommended, helped his cooks prepare your favorite meal. All that is left is to wait, and. Aymeric is a strategist, he's good at the long game, but.
He lingers in the door to your room. In your comfy bed, all bundled up in warm blankets, you look so. small. Not the Warrior of Light, not his stalwart friend, but just. A person. Who gets sick. Who he might lose. And that. Scares him. More than a little.
You lift your head and blearily blink at him, and then your chapped mouth pulls into a smile. You pat the edge of your bed next to you for him to sit.
"Tell me about your day?" you croak.
And he takes your hand, and he does.
Haurchefant shakes his head fondly as he moves to help you off the floor where you've fallen.
There was a short period of time when he was really, truly worried for you. When you had just woken up into the new reality of your life, your blank eyes staring at the space where you arm had once been. It's hard, he understands, for a warrior to lose so much of what had once defined them.
But you've still got your fire, to his relief and his chagrin, spitting and cursing and wiggling as he settles you back into bed and flops his entire not-insignificant weight on top of you.
"Hush, now," he says, his mouth right next to your ear, one hand coming up to curl, warm and heavy, around the back of your neck. You're still running a fever, he notes idly, but it's certainly better than it was before. "I think we've earned a spell of rest, don't you?"
Sidurgu freezes at the first cough that rattles through your chest. The memories rise horrifying and unbidden, of coughs that echo in armor, of shaking hands and failing strength and nights hungry, trembling, curled around each other in a desperate bid of warmth, terrified of falling asleep because he doesn't want to wake up to a frozen corpse next to him. And Fray lived, sure, but the cold in their bones never did leave them, not until the day they--
But this is now, he reminds himself, and you are not Fray. There is gil for medicine AND for food, and even for a warm place to sleep. There is Rielle, diligently studying her conjury and happy for a real, live patient to practice on, falling asleep against your chest not because she exhausted herself, but because the hour grew late and she, bored.
How terrifying it is for a Dark Knight to know peace, he thinks as he carefully repositions her so that she is not putting so much weight on your sick lungs. As he brushes your hair from your forehead and places a single kiss there before replacing the cold compress.
How terrifying, and how wonderful.
BONUS
Erenville has this way about him that is undeniably guilt-inducing. The kind of demeanor that reminds you of clucking mothers and worried-looking fathers, all with his hands on his hips and a single eyebrow raised, and you don't even have the voice to argue with him as he takes you by the hand and half-drags you back to his room.
In a city full of scholars, doctors, and healers, he gripes, and you couldn't find your way to any of them? What if you had gotten hurt? or accidentally gotten someone else sick? or spread something to the delicate denizens of labyrinthos?
But you can sense the very real concern for you, beneath his scathing tone. In the way he keeps one hand on your chest to feel your breathing, the other on your wrist to monitor your pulse. The way he takes you to his home-- not the shoddy room the forum gives to any gleaner, but to the one he's build in the Golmorean section of labyrinthos-- and keeps you there until you get better.

The WoL Catches A Cold *a-choo* - feat. The Ishgard Elf Husbands, G'raha Tia, Ardbert, Hien & Zenos
Tumblr media
@eidechsejaspis asked:
Hello again:)
As new season of coughs ans sneezes approaches I have a question of how would Scions (choose any you like), Aymeric and Zenos (where would we go without him?) react on WoL catching serious cold? Time period is at your liking from Heavenward to adventures in Garlemald:)
Thank you in advance:)
It is sniffles season again! Thank you for asking, this was a really fun one to get back into HC writing with!
Aymeric
In moments you think he's not watching, he is. He adores the way you wince when reading an unpleasant part of a book, how you fidget in Alliance meetings, even the little whistle of your snore. Aymeric notices your first sneeze. It's hard to get allergies in Coerthas, and he recognizes the hacking from your lungs a few days later. This comes for everyone sooner or later, and politely asks you to quarantine yourself for a few days.
He isn't one to miss work to care for a sick partner or spouse but has a very attentive nurse stationed nearby
He has given his full itinerary for the next several days so he can be alerted as soon as you wake up from a much needed, multi-day sleep
Aymeric wouldn't argue that he knows cooking well, but he does make a point to assist in the kitchen after work to make sure that you have soup recommended by the best chirugeon available
He will dodge kisses from you for days to avoid becoming sick himself, but it's too late anyways
When Aymeric finds himself bedridden for a few days, he decides that it was worthwhile to give you that forehead kiss as you slept

Estinien
Estinien is familiar with sickness. Long campaigns through the newly snowy Coerthas as a young knight taught him much of seasonal illnesses. He's seen many a friend drink their weight in bitter root soups, gnaw on wild herbs, and the like to push through it until they can get home. He's seen you sick before. Still, he has some lingering anxiety. You looked far worse than a little aetheryte sickness. He's lost much and more, the thought nags at him that more concern might be warranted.
Estinien has his hands full with travel these days and assures you that he will indeed make it to tea with Vritra tomorrow afternoon
He does not make it to tea with Vritra
Estinien deftly slips into the bedroom but there was no need, you had been out cold for hours by then
He would like to keep his friend from waiting, but not until he's sure that your breathing is steady and your temperature not too high
What a sight to see! Had you been awake, you might have heard Estinien's dress shoes pacing along the floor, his hand nearly to his linkpearl while paralyzed by indecision on whether to cancel or not
He cautiously leaves a glass of water and your linkpearl on the bedside table, just in case, though he may never admit that it was he who placed both there
When he does return home, perhaps an hour earlier than expected, he denies all concern as he settles into bed beside you

Haurchefant
While he's not a sadist, Haurchefant absolutely loves the sight of you ill. You're always off somewhere, but for this small bubble of time, you're here. You're sipping hot chocolate and letting him read poetry to you rather than mailing it off to some distant locale. He can watch your tired face grin and sigh rather than imagining it alone from Camp Dragonhead.
His favorite thing to make for you, of course. Hot chocolate, every day you're sick. No matter how hard it is to get chocolate in Coerthas, no matter how many tall tales he must tell to provision it, you wake up to hot chocolate beside your bed every morning.
"You don't need caffeine, anyways, you need something calming and a smile."
He knows he'll get sick if he sleeps next to you every night, but he's forewarned Camp Dragonhead. Emmanellain can hold his seat for a fortnight, it could be good practice for him.
Haurchefant watches you sleep, sliding his hand under the covers to grasp yours. For once, the cuts and bruises all over you are starting to heal. Days off the road, finally given rest. He wishes you both had more days like this.

G'raha Tia
Just as your new adventures together have begun, you fail to keep up. You run a little slower, stopping after a few paces to lean into a cough, heavy sneezes punctuating the blows you attempt to land on monsters. G'raha is quick to notice but slow to bring it up.
He frets, wringing his hands beside you as you ready yourself for the day, struggling to put on your clothes. As you sigh in failure, dropping yourself onto the bed, G'raha can't help himself.
"You can admit you're sick. I know you've been on the road for a long time. Even with the help of your friends, the path you walk is a lonely one. But you're not alone this time. Let yourself rest and let me take care of the other things that come along?"
G'raha fields the many requests sent your way, trying his best to fulfill them, wondering how you do it all at full health.
In quieter moments, he finds his way to The Last Stand to get your favorite dinner, absolutely purring as he watches your sleepy smile. Alas, your sense of smell is back! You knew exactly what he'd brought you as soon as he opened the bag!
He can't help but laugh to himself as you find yourself exhausted from the walk from your bed to the dining table, cracking jokes about his hero losing the greatest battle thus far.
G'raha's excitement knows no bounds when you announce that you're well enough to continue your travels together. The ruddy cheeks, the soft ear wiggle. No sickness can stop his hero for long.
Tumblr media
Ardbert
(Assuming Ardbert is no longer a ghost!)
Ardbert is restless. He hasn't seen an open field, a forest, an ocean in days. He wonders if it's unsupportive to ask if you'd mind if he pops out for a fishing trip tomorrow. Perhaps if you're a little better in the morning?
He's not heartless, he left some hot tea beside your bed and made sure your medicines were in reach.
Though he did have some guilt by the third hour of his fishing adventure. The pangs of guilt grew until an idea sprouted from them.
He racked his mind as he navigated the markets. He had enough fish, but the right peppers...which peppers were correct. Tomatoes. Cream. Potatoes. Something was missing, some spice.
Ardbert has made a mess of things. He has put out the kitchen fire, somehow there are no more clean pots and pans. Yet, the soup is complete! It was his mother's recipe, it always had him right as rain after a day or so.
Though you tried your best to hold a straight face, the soup was...I don't know if it's fair to call it a soup. He looks absolutely crushed.
You fall asleep while he strokes your hair, his head pressed against yours as he told you stories. About Kholusia, fishing for cod with his father, his mother's miracle soup. He asks what they made where you're from, but it's too late. You've already drifted off, dreaming about magic fish.
Oddly enough, from a couple of sips of Ardbert's attempted soup, you feel some measure better. He, on the other hand, has the same horrible wheezing cough you had a day before.
Tumblr media
Hien
Hien is not the biggest believer in staying bedridden in a sealed room while sick. He frowns, hating to see you suffer, but a thought springs to mind as he twirls your lank, sweaty hair between his fingers.
The clean air of the Azim Steppe is just as promised. During the day, he haggles in the markets for the best Dzo to make stews, the best leaves to make tea. All while you watch the clouds pass from the hammock outside of your yurt.
It's hard to leave the hammock, not only for the comfort. Where else could you see so many stars? Hien points to his favorites, the brightest, the funniest shapes some constellations make.
There wasn't much for entertainment, but watching Hien in the distance sparring with friends was a welcome sight.
After a few days, he encourages you to come with him. On a little walk, at least. Another day, just a little spar. How do you know you're well if you don't test your skills?
The break from all the noise, the responsibilities, becomes intoxicating to you after some time. Hien never has to rush to some meeting, you never need to leave to be flung at a new problem.
You've been better for a week now, finding yourself testing your sharpness with Hien and his friends every morning. Though you may have been hesitant to travel while sick, the time spent together was precious. Perhaps next time you won't have to be sick to convince yourself to take a break.
Tumblr media
Zenos
He's seen you weakened before, brought to your knees by your own frailty. It disappoints him and yet, he's fascinated by it in a way he doesn't quite understand. How could someone so pitiful occupy every hour of his day?
Zenos doesn't agree with the chirugeon, you could power through this with sheer force of will and merely shrugs as the medicines are set on the table.
This could not be what ends the object of his obsession, his first friend. He regularly checks that you're still breathing. He leans in too close to hear that your heart is still beating, only to be rewarded by a wheezing cough into his hair.
His size is quite the advantage, it's not a challenge for him to carry you from place to place. He leans low to the ground, scooping you up as the sight of you exhausted from standing up only leaves him with disgust.
Still, when you fall asleep each night, he leans his head to your chest. Your heart still beats, your skin glittering with sweat. He knew he would see you like this on another day, performing the great feats that brought him to you in the first place. Though he never understood your reasons, he knew you'd be back to fighting the mesmerizing fights that led the two of you here. To share a bed, a home, a life.
