Characters: Annabeth Chase and Percy Jackson

Length and format: This fanfic is very short and honestly with a higher word count the plot would have made much more sense but this was still an easy read and the formatting was easy on the eyes. There were minor grammatical issues and use of parentheses in the middle of thoughts that really took the reader out of the moment.

Content: The plot was very limited, not only because of the length but because it was told from the perspective of Annabeth’s thoughts and only what she thought and perceived. This fic would have benefitted from more explanation of the setting or just context in general.

Characterization: Percy’s character was limited as he was told from Annabeth’s perspective and being inside Annabeth’s head made her feel OOC as she seemed to be babbling in her mind and much tenser than her canon counterpart. The fic has minor Percabeth at the end as the two are not established yet but author does add in that slow burn readers of this era are starting to see being built in canon so this does make for a cute Percabeth fic when they are still younger if that is something you like to read.

Reception: There are 14 reviews that are mostly positive with some constructive criticism. There are also 31 favorites and 8 follows.

Author: Author strange organized chaos used to go by phsycogirl 13 and has a brief introduction to author and their works on their account but not much else. In ANs they give the typical disclaimer and inform the audience this is their first Percy Jackson fanfiction and that they are a slow writer. Account has been inactive since 2019 so we can only wish them the best.

Impact: The lack of plot and context in this fic really took me out at parts but overall the Percabeth vibes are solid and has a really enjoyable ending.

The necklace scene with Percy and Annabeth; this scene is so much more than Percabeth. I am sorry, it just is. It's not about two kids falling in love just yet, it's about two kids who never had a friendship quite like this. Annabeth had Luke and Thalia but those were people she idolized. Neither she, Percy, nor Grover ever had a true friendship like the one they found on the original quest. This is two kids who started out barely tolerating each other and ended in the sense that they were all each other had. They weren't back in the human world thinking they were these dumb kids relating to no one. That look from Percy was the gravity of what he found. What he had been looking for his whole life. Two people who were choosing him despite all the reasons he may think they shouldn't. At 12, that feeling of belonging is everything.

reading from percy’s point of view what the poison felt like was terrible but seeing it??? seeing how small and scared he looked?? how he HAS looked in every episode? i swear the books and the movies, (especially the movies, as we all know), don’t do their age justice. it’s so easy to forget how little they actually are when you aren’t looking right at the twelve year old character on screen. they are so small and shouldn’t have to worry about monsters and impressing their parents or worrying that their parents will just let them die/put them in a deadly situation on purpose just because they “embarrassed them”. it’s really sick, and i’m so elated that they managed to show this, at least in the first season.

Percabeth: They meet as 11 year olds and don't really get along but within a couple weeks they end up best friends and Annabeth canonically had a crush on him by the end of the first book. They both liked each other (though Percy was oblivious to his feelings until they were 16). They fought side by side door years, kept nearly dying for each other, she was literally Percy's anchor to the mortal world when he went in the river Styx, and they both have up immortality (and in Percy's case, godhood) for each other all before actually admitting they had a crush on each other. Also, An additional year can be added for when he was kidnapped and his MEMORY WAS ERASED! and all he could remember was HER NAME 😭 and she searched for him that whole year. Timkon: They’ve just always focused on each other and singled each other out, even when they first met and were more like rivals. Even when the universe got reset and Conner literally became a completely different person, Tim in the end was the only person he actually cared about, “the greatest hero, greatest friend [he’s] ever known”. Another reset later and Conner was erased, no one remembered him. But Tim hears his name, and it sparks memories. He can “feel that name tugging on [his] heart”. So, he goes out and finds him and brings him back home.
