Trigger Warning: Gore, burn wounds
So what exactly happens when you put way too much force into an exorcism?
Aka @muffinlance, please (don't) stop releasing banger after banger, my heart can't keep up.
(click for better quality, image description under the cut)
Open Image Description: a pen drawing of Zuko from Avatar: the Last Airbender. He is thirteen years old, dressed in casual but good quality clothes which are burned to pieces in many places. Zuko is walking out of a smoke filled room. Terrible, raw burns consume the left side of his face and neck, and cross his torso and left arm with charred lines. In the center of his chest appears to be a japanese character written with the same burns. His expression is blank and haunting, as if he is not himself. He says the words "Our visits are over, Iroh." End Image Description.

Master Pakku promised that he would keep an eye on Zuko (a promise made to both the chief and to Iroh). Pakku had initially thought the prince would be selfish and rude, but watching him spar with the other boys, it's obvious the kid is actually a little ball of nervous energy ready to be told he failed. Time will tell if he's any good at fighting, but maybe Pakku needs to step in and offer a bit of tutoring.

It's disturbing how much rage bait ONE line said by a young teenage girl in an EW cover story with so much other content can generate. Dozens and dozens and dozens of click bait articles, rage video analyses, and SO many angry meta posts with people practically ready to tear Katara's actress apart with their bare hands. All for having the audacity to say that she found some of Sokka's more brazenly sexist lines "iffy" in the OG cartoon. She implied it wouldn't translate as well in a live action and that they had toned it down, and you'd think she announced the Avatar is going to be a warmonger the way the internet's turned on her.
This week's fandom discourse has been about as low key and rational as S1 Zuko being offered some calming Jasmine tea...

If I had a nickel for every show I’ve seen that follows a strong spirited blue-eyed heroine who lost her mother at a young age to a fire that can be linked back to colonial violence and who seeks revenge for that but who is also strongly associated with water and the colour blue, who travels with her close companion who happens to be a a bald and childlike yet oddly wise individual with traits both physical and emotional that line up with association of air and the colour grey, who eventually fight and then travel with a stubborn fighter who has never lost a battle before encountering them and is associated with earth and the colour green, as well as a fourth character that represents fire and the colour red and who is a royal/noble trying desperately to ensure control over her own destiny for the sake of freedom and power and who very much acts as a narrative foil to the water/blue character, and one of the former two characters is obsessed with honor to the point point that they are willing to actively aid their enemy just so that they can personally be the one to bring them down and are also sporting one half of a whole haircut for reasons also associated with honour and humiliation, and all this takes place in either east asia or an east asian inspired setting with both plenty of nuance and entertainment value to be found, then I’d have two nickels… which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice, right?

I think Zuko and Mai’s relationship is often overlooked. Like they’re not soulmates but they really do mean a lot to each other. Mai is the first person Zuko tells about his doubts of returning to the fire nation, and Mai saves him from Azula bc she loves him more than her. Idk I just hear a lot about how they’re just like young dumb love but I think their relationship is really important and formative for both of them
