Okay I finally generated an ask for you!!!!

What is your favourite genre of music? Or if you don't know how to categorize the music you listen to (like me), what is your favourite song? Or band? Or album? Something like that.

ohhhhh #1 question i am categorically incapable of being normal about <3

i typically just define my favorite music as "loud" or "aggressive" or "abrasive" bc most stuff that fits those descriptors will be in my faves regardless of the genre.

a more specific answer is that there are 3 main things i've noticed that will typically make me go apeshit without fail and they are: 1. hardstyle/gabber/industrial hardcore- sorta basskick 2. sickass metal guitar shredding 3. huge dramatic grandiose orchestral

if something has 1 of these i will probably like it, if it has 2 it will be a top fave, and all 3.... well i have yet to find it yet but im sure i will Ascend. here are examples of said top fave combos.

laur covers hardstyle+orchestral and i Cannot Get Enough of his shit man it goes so fucking crazy hard

metal+orchestral is unquestionably ruled by nightwish, but theyre not on bandcamp and i dont feel like finding other links so this one goes to the still-very-fucking-awesome runner-up, POWERWOLF

riikira and rabbitjunk hit metal+hardstyle, though it's less strictly hardstyle and more just general hardcore* electronica. if its got crazy amens its enough who cares. i put the ones that use actual kicks for the sake of illustrating the point here but these tracks are both pretty far from my faves from each lmao *hardcore referring to hardcore [edm] in this case, even though the genre these belong to is called "digital hardcore", which instead refers to hardcore [punk]. it's a mess out here. did you know theres two completely different things called doomcore where one is derived from metal and the other is derived from hardcore. and you never know which itsd going to be when you click on something in the doomcore tag. im dying squirtle

anyway on the other side of the hardstyle+metal combo is kobaryo [with his alias blaxervant], who's much more about the hardcore side of things and just has the metal as flair, but it is still: the best shit ever

laur also on occasion hits this side of hardstyle+metal becaue he just likes using whatever the fuck instruments

there are of course many other things i love a lot, primary examples being ambient/atmospheric, folk, and anything with a lot of Texture. im not gonna get into all that but i do have an extended list of faves/recs from the last time i was asked about this and went insane abt it. it took forever to make and my actual recs are not entirely the same as my Faves so im putting it on here too.

i keep these curated to the top of my bandcamp profile so they're the first things that display there. it's a bit old by now and some have since been shuffled out, but it's still like 80% accurate.

as for the actual recs: the angel's message is there because it's my fave brand of intense and chaotic stuff and want it to kill you full force. it already has some tracks up there so im not re-linking it

this one i recommend just because i think it's really interesting and out there and i'm curious what other people think of this sort of stuff. it's also the prime example of what i mean when i talk about Textures in music.

wolfgun is an actual rec for being genuinely just really good music. probably the most objectively cool/platonically enjoyable thing in my library

Fingolfin is my fave character so thank you for all the posts on him!! Can you tell me why you love him so much?

Happily I will try, but Anon you have asked a hard question! If there's anything I struggle to understand, it's the patterns and reasonings behind my own interests, which are often irrational and very inconsistent!

Well a few simpler reasons are: He's dauntless but also wise, ambitious but kind and cautious - he thinks before he acts (most of the time). He has ice symbolism to parallel Fëanor's fire, which I think is super cool. I think he's a very good king! His people love him, and he seems to listen to his people and often takes council with others, not relying on his own wisdom only. An underrated reason to love Fingolfin is that he's half Vanyar, which is potential for interesting interpretations for his character, such as my personal theories that he's a dancer and is Ingwë's favorite nephew.

I also love characters who have a lot of inner turmoil and battle with themselves constantly, and both Maedhros and Fingolfin I think fit this bill pretty well, though in Maedhros it's more obvious. Fingolfin is quite similar to his brother Fëanor in quite a few ways, and to me it seems like throughout the narrative he tries hard to suppress the more explosive aspects of himself, and put his people's needs before himself. He's jealous of Fëanor but tries to make peace with him anyways, he holds the Fëanorians accomplices of their father but accepts Maedhros' repentance and makes peace with them, he's proud of his people's strength and wants to attack Angband, but won't force his people to do what they don't want to. He's really quite the respectful guy and good diplomat, despite his own pride!

Obviously he goes apeshit at the end of the Dagor Bragollach, and his duel is incredibly fascinating to talk about by itself, another reason I love him. Fëanor once said "Such hurt at the least will I do to the Foe of the Valar that even the mighty in the Ring of Doom shall wonder to hear it", and there's only one among the Ñoldor who accomplished this. If Fëanor's main two reasons for the Flight were 1) get the Silmarils back, and 2) get revenge on Morgoth, didn't Maedhros technically fulfill part of the first reason, and Fingolfin fulfill the second?

There are also more meta reasons why I'm such a Fingolfin stan. I think Fingolfin is overlooked and/or oversimplified by a lot of the fandom, and grossly mischaracterized by much of the rest of it. I might be exaggerating a bit, especially when characterizing Silmarillion characters is so difficult, and will be inconsistent by the nature of the source material not going in-depth with their personalities. My interpretation of Fingolfin will not be the same as someone else who has read the same material, and because he's my favorite character, my interpretation may be biased in favor of him being a compelling individual. Still, a lot of the Fingolfin takes I see, especially from annoying dude-bros and people who villainize him to try to justify Fëanor, are very frustrating to me. All this to say that I love my Fingolfin, but dislike some of the other Fingolfins I see (not all of them! There are plenty of other wonderful Fingolfins), and I think quite a bit of my intense love for him comes from a place of defying the interpretations I dislike. I don't know if that made sense, or was a satisfactory answer to your ask, but I tried my best!

I think the term "playersexual" is a misused term from the JRPG community, bc the first time I heard it was regarding the game FE Fates. In that game, not only could your player character get married, but the other NPCs could marry each other if they had compatible "support" conversations. The exception to this was a very small handful of characters who *exclusively* had support conversations with the Player, regardless of their gender. The term, I think, was less of a criticism of bi/pan romance options and more on the kind of "bonus" nature of these player-exclusive options.

And outside of that highly specific context, it doesn't really have a place. If a game's whole romance thing is specifically about the player character being involved in a romance, the fact that their options are attracted to them regardless of their gender is not them being "playersexual", it's them being bi/pan, and the highly specific and situational term "playersexual" doesn't apply.

Idk if people know that and are just saying it anyway or if they don't realize the distinction, but it bugs me either way and I feel like people should stop using it so generally, yknow?

yeah i remember fe fates! like it makes sense in that context for sure. but like you said it just has no place outside of that particular game or games with that very specific mechanic. it feels like some people just dont want to acknowledge their faves are queer and are using the term playersexual as a very convenient excuse to brush their sexualities under the rug because of good old homophobia

2. a compelling argument for why your fave would never top or bottom UUGHHH this hard cause i only ship him with naruto and i see sns as a very switch-vers relationship... okay, i'll try. in the context of sns... - sasuke would never bottom because: he spent years in caves with a guy who wanted to steal his body. his brother violated his mind with the tsukuyomi. he's had his eyes surgically removed and replaced. he had a curse mark non-consensually bitten onto his neck. his likely first experience with penetration was haku turning his lil genin ass into a pincushion. i can't imagine sasuke would ever want to let someone inside him, in any sense of the word, after all that. being penetrated is a very vulnerable thing, most of those positions leave you with little control over what's happening. i don't think sasuke would appreciate that. he'd need the control that comes with topping. - sasuke would never top because: he's bottom-coded, truly. he's the yin, he's receptive to other's opinions, he was willing to at least feign interest in letting orochimaru take his body, he accepted the curse mark, he's often portrayed in the more feminine role when cast beside naruto, etc. etc. etc. also, remember how he plunged his hand through his best friend's chest that one time? remember how he spent years of his life becoming one of the strongest people on earth? i can easily imagine that having some kind of psychological effect on sasuke's sexuality. i can imagine him seeing his body as a weapon and not trusting himself to stay gentle in the heat of the moment. he can, obviously, but the amount of worries and concerns it comes with makes it unenjoyable. once he opens up a bit, he'd take to bottoming like a fish to water.

13. worst blorboficiation KAKASHI. i feel like people focus too hard on one aspect of his personality or another when he's got so much going on. he's actually so complex. yes he's the sopping wet puppy in a cardboard box but he also is an attack animal who will go fucking apeshit if you come for his pack members. he's got multiple overlapping traumas that get repeatedly hashed out in the text and at some times very few coping mechanisms. woobify him all you want but he's still a kage-level fighter long before he gets the title (that he didn't even want but still did a great job with!). they made him teach children. like you have SO MUCH to work with why are you only focusing on his stats or his teaching methods like 😩

19. you're mad/ashamed/horrified you actually kind of like... orochimaru XD the dude's fucked seven ways to sunday but he's just such a compelling villain to me. i especially like to think of him pre-naruto, as a young adult still being broken by the world and by war and his toxic relationship with tsunade and solidifying into the creepy fuckin snake we see later. he's also genuinely one of the funniest characters in the show to me, especially if you consider what he's up to in boruto. which is fucking?? nothing?? lmfao like he's got a kid (or maybe a few) and tenzou babysits him and taka is there?? idk man it's hilarious tho.

venti by far! 👼🏻 i know his story quest was one of the first ones but even though it‘s been what? like 2 years, i still think about it sometimes. Imo he‘s a very well written character, fanon venti is said to be lazy and an alcoholic and although i love me some good jokes, canon venti is honestly so much more! he wasn‘t a perfect archon no one said that, but he cares for his people, he has an incredible control over his own emotions and is always here for us! (even though he‘s secretive and probably keeps lots of stuff hidden, though i‘m sure he‘s doing this as a way to protect us!)

i know lots of signora stans hate him but i think those people tend to forget that he has no control on how much he‘s sleeping (it‘s hinted in the manga that he cannot just wake up whenever he wants to) the reason he woke up 500 years ago when durin went apeshit was because lots of people prayed for him to save them, only then he was able to wake up and fight durin!!! or when the lawrence clan declared mondstadt as their own and did terrible stuff, he woke up too!!! (basically always when mondstadt needed him the most) 💗 there‘s so much more, venti is very lore heavy (honestly he radiates deathflags too pls hoyo don’t kill off my love🥹🙏🏻) and he did lots of good things in the past and yes, what happened to signora‘s boyfie was really sad but to hate him just because of that without actually knowing a lot more is idk, each their own! (if you hate venti for other reasons that‘s okay too, just don‘t be a dick about it since this is my opinion on my blog, in the end he‘s a character in a game and there‘s no need to fight anyone or get into arguments) — i had to include this because some people in the genshin fandom go apeshit on stuff like that🤡

Some Trixie Troubleby headcanons cause I posted this onto my old blog and she deserves more love

Trixie LOVES Korean BBQ, especially sweet/spicy pork ribs.

Despite being a tough cookie and acting like she never cries, she does sometimes, and sometimes when she's alone, or when she's with Stephanie, she'll have a private cry.

Her favourite sport is boxing; she even attends boxing lessons outside of town.

She also watches WWE-

She is half Filipino and can speak a little Tagalog but only the basic phrases.

She WILL beat her friends at arm wrestling, cause she's so damn competitive. Unless it's Sportacus.

That actually happened once, Trixie challenged Sportacus to an arm wrestle. Bad idea. She ended up pulling a muscle in her arm which she had to keep in a cast for a week after. Sportacus was SO GUILTY OMG-

It was like

Sportacus, with his face buried in his hands and with Robbie sat beside him: I can't believe I did that, I'm such a monster, what will the kids think of me now-

*Meanwhile Trixie is just getting everyone to draw random shit on her cast*

She actually loves hugs, and gives pretty tight hugs.

But she also has pretty bad anger issues, and sometimes lashes out. It used to be really bad but she carries around stress toys whenever she's angry. Sporty also has stress toys on hand in case Trixie, or any of the other kids, need them. Another thing Trixie does when she's angry is scream into a pillow or an empty space.

She really enjoys those disturbing PSAs and watches compilations of them late at night.

At sleepovers, she's the one awake at 2am either watching those disturbing PSA compilations on YouTube or drawing on her friends' faces.

But she's also not really a morning person and sleeps in later than the other kids so she's gotta watch her back.

Has a pretty high tolerance to spicy foods, and because of this, she sometimes challenges her friends to a spicy food eating competition. Ziggy always loses within like 5 seconds.

But as it turns out, Pixel is a regular consumer of those Samyang noodles so Trixie has some stiff competition there-

She's learning to belch the alphabet

Trixie is the only one who's allowed to bully her friends. If anyone else does it, she will END them. (Not in a literal sense, she'll just teach em a lesson they won't forget)

She'll be like "Hey Stingy, the 50s called and they want their crusty bow tie back"

And then some bully will be like "Hey Stingy your bow tie sucks"

And then Trixie will go apeshit on them

"What the FRICK did you just say about my friend's bow tie?! COME HERE YA LITTLE BITCH I WILL END YOU"

In spite of making snarky comments sometimes, Trixie really does love her friends, and will always make them personalised cards on their birthdays.

(I did post this on my old LazyTown blog, but I decided to post it again because Trixie is very underrated. Quite a few people in the fandom either slander her or forget her, which makes me kinda sad as she's one of my fave characters. So it makes me happy to see Trixie appreciation.)

The way I interpret its meaning is severely personal to me and hard to explain, but it inspired me so much I drew an abstract self portrait based off of it. Plus it's cathartic to belt out.

Stylo by Gorillaz I think Gorillaz is the ONLY band we can all agree is a genuine favourite. Ain't heard a song of theirs yet I don't like, and this one specifically saved my ass when I was in the throes of a stomach flu I caught during a trip in Romania. I need to chill down? Okay so for all of the below, please take into account that there’s not an option for “they got done dirty by at least one writer” so I’ve subbed the ‘done dirty by fans’ square in

I don’t dip my toes too too deep so could not speak to fandom done-dirtiness or not.

he’s got an incredible design and his position in Oceania was gr8 especially because you can taste the crisis coming off Romani at high speed but like... where is he. where has he gone. like there’s so much room there to use David and we’re just... not?

like I know we have a giantass cast of characters and people gonna do what they want, but I really feel like given his, uh, familial relations, David should have gotten a lot more air time.

also mmm. hm. doesn’t feel great that he gets reduced to the surface-level characterization of Business Man Wants Money a lot of the time when he shows up in side shit. I love that he and Sheba get along but I kind of hate this reason.

It’s twice as annoying because there’s some really choice stuff floating around in his interludes, like the one about building temples. There’s so much potential that’s just like... not only not used, but then winds up being a disappointment half the time after all.

Okay now to talk about Romani a bit.

...your honor, I love him. also the whole arc about like, being human. that’s great. he’s a sweetheart.

Wasted potential is a question mark because I straight do not know what is happening. I’m current to NA and I know some scattered bits about the future, but not enough to know whatever the fuck.

I appreciate that his presence always stays felt. I just want more. This may be bias because he’s one of my faves -- it may be that the themes of tragedy and martyrdom and because it was you, this never could have happened differently are more FGO’s speed. given how heroes and kings are treated in many Fate narratives, this is probably a thing. it’s just not what I personally want out of the narrative right now, because the world is a Lot right now and I want my faves to experience happiness. ( “Makari go read something else” “yeah but... my blorbo is in this one” etc. I know. I make these choices myself.)

Also there’s definitely some interludes where he comes off as just, Stock Womanizing Anime Man and I have so much trouble reconciling those as anything other than early-story rockiness and/or ‘a different writer than usual went briefly apeshit’. Are there ways he’s fucked up? 100%. but those don’t feel like they’re the natural ways inherent in his character and are tbh not interesting to me.

Anyway I’ve been going “hey where’s Merlin” for approximately five lost belts now (I know. I know where he’s about to be. THIS I know.)

This is a man I looked at and went “i’ll take that one.” He made such a point of telling everyone he couldn’t feel things and we shouldn’t expect him to care like humans do that I have no choice but to assume he’s a, lying, and b, an incredibly bad liar. Who does that. If you don’t care, you don’t care if people get attached to you, because you don’t care.

So every approach I take to Merlin is heavily rooted in “actually this man cares so much, especially about Artoria, but he’s not human and has spent 1500 years repressing anything that’s more emotional than a dick joke”.

though on that note god damn but the ‘awful bastard dick wizard’ running ... thing does kind of get old after a while. even if it’s true. y’know?

spilt milk by jellyfish, traffic and weather by fountains of wayne, and apple venus part 2 by XTC are my holy trinity. apple venus isn't my fave xtc album but it is the most power-poppy one imo.

as much as i love the genre those are the three artists i spend most of my time listening to lmao, i don't often seek out new music fsghsfg.

omggg of course i don't mind u asking, i'll never turn down an excuse to ramble about my faves :') I tried to keep this short-ish though bc I don't want this to be suuuuper long.

(update: i failed but well! it could have been longer!)

top 5 characters from tgcf:

1. hua cheng. obviously i cannot shut up about my boy. he's so funny and bitchy and complex and the novel is just less fun when he's not around. he brings out xie lian's funny side and i'm in love with his dedication. most character ever.

2. xie lian gets to be under hua cheng (ha!) because, as i mentioned, he's less funny when hua cheng isn't around. his POV is still delightful but he's less inclined to act on his ridiculousness? xianle arc tends to drag a little for me bc of it. i still love him tho. this novel wouldn't be the fun ride that it is without his bitchy commentary on everything.

3. shi qingxuan. he's literally me irl - the Gender, the silliness, hysterical laughter, the way he latches onto people, how he somehow still suffers from secondhand embarrassment despite being THE most embarrassing person on purpose, it's all suuuper relatable to me. obligated to stan. his enduring cheerful goodness is what i try to be.

4. yushi huang. one of those understated girlboss types, it makes sense that she and hua cheng get along?? i like to stare into space and think about her a lot tbh. woman….

5. feng xin. don't get me wrong i also adore mu qing, but something about feng xin's earnestness really gets to me. the way he was described back when he first fell in love, as eager and innocent and genuine.....i think about that sometimes. plus i love his straightforwardness. plus shooting arrows with his teeth? i would make him my bestie.

honorable mentions: he xuan, mu qing, mei nianqing, quan yizhen, yin you (but only when i read him in a specific light)

moving on...

top 5 moments in the novel (i didn't go back through the novel for this so it's just off the top of my head) (very spoilers):

1. the little exchange between xie lian and hua cheng, when hua cheng is stuck in child form and he basically starts throwing a tantrum because he's so upset at being weak. and xie lian turns it on him and says, 'you've protected me so far, now let me protect you.' like???? fuck?????? one of the last big moments for hua cheng's character. where he's forced to be vulnerable and rely on xie lian and really make this relationship mutual.

2. the temple scene in xianle arc, when xie lian tells the young hua cheng to give up on worshipping him, and hua cheng turns around and declares that he will forever be xie lian's believer and work to become xie lian's source of strength. it's the turning point in hua cheng's early character arc, the moment that set hims on the path to becoming Crimon Rain Sought Flower. I love it it's so important to me i love hua cheng

3. the moment when yin you goes apeshit on quan yizhen. I said before that I only really like yin you in a specific way, and it's this way. his character honestly pisses me off under the moment he snaps and lets all his frustrations pour out. then it's THE most cathartic scene for him. i eat that shit up

4. THE LAVA MOUNTAIN SCENE. F-F-FRIEND. MU QING. YOU DID IT YOU TALKED ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS. the way feng xin completely loses his shit like THAT'S WHAT YOU'VE BEEN CONSTIPATED ABOUT???? IT'S SO EASY WE COULD HAVE BEEN FRIENDS ALL ALONG YOU IDIOT. and i love how that convo clears the air immediately. mu qing stops taking offence when he's being teased. feng xin stops being sensitive to mu qing's sarcasm all they needed all along was the assurance that the other wanted to be friends. the fact that this absurd conversation is happening while they're in a lava river trying not to die....GOD xianle trio....

5. and of course, the scene at the end when hua cheng is disappearing. everything about it, the pure joy xie lian feels when discovering that hua cheng was wu ming all along; the brief outpouring of love, the fear from xie lian, the trust from hua cheng. the fact that at the very last moment, hua cheng's unwavering faith is now turned on xie lian: now it's his turn to wait. and have faith. the visual of hua cheng dissolving into butterflies. i'm a sucker for a gorgeous mental image and this book is FULL of it.

The writing in obey me is kinda messy when it comes to the laws of magic in their world. I get that the game wants to focus more on the love parts but it would be nice if they decided to work a bit more on their world building.

Mc is genuinely a really interesting character considering they were the descendant of an ex-angel. Not to mention being immune to the avatar of lust's charm right off the bat? It would be fine if it was a lesser demon, but this is a demon lord we are talking about.

Mc became even more interesting in solomon's bday event. It's said that our magic had limitless possibilities and that got me curious.

We got our powers from Lilith correct? And Lilith was once an angel, someone who served god. It's said that angels are extremely strong beings, but they can't just show it willy nilly because they lack a certain amount of free will. Unless their god allows it, they can't really do much with their abilities. What if the reason why Mc has limitless possibilities on their magic is because that restriction is gone? They may have some of lilith's powers but they aren't lilith. They have what angels lack, which is free will. Mc can do whatever they want with their magic without the restrictions angels have.

Ik its a bit far fetched considering obey me is more light hearted so I doubt they would expand lilith's and Mc's connection to each other, but it's still nice to think about it.

You're so right about the messiness - this game is like my catnip because you're telling me there's cute monster boys (& girl) and its shallow enough that I get to make up my own worldbuilding headcanons? I do agree that I wish we had more, but at the same time, if we did, then we wouldn't be able to talk about stuff like this as easily!

I think it's super interesting you call out the difference between Angels and MC as being 'free will'. It plays into one of my fave main character tropes - 'everyone is stagnant except the protagonist who can grow.' MC brings a youthfulness and a discovery of potential that the millennia old demons and angels may have forgotten they were capable of - perhaps even inspiring them to continue growing themselves. I have Thoughts™ about the role of 'god' or 'the father' in the obey me canon/cosmology, but I don't wanna distract from your ideas so I'll talk about them in another post!

I personally would love to see more of the angels (and MC) going absolutely apeshit. Especially Luke - he's still growing too, and it'll be interesting to see the effect MC and the brothers have had on him in his development. I feel like MC and Luke are interesting parallels - both quite young and yet have experienced a lot, having to learn and unlearn different ideas and habits. Both have the potential (or the current capability) to be extremely powerful, but maybe lack a bit of the control necessary to command that power at-will.

Where do I even begin?

So... in the world of AWIL, changing a human into a werebeast or a vampire is usually done very thoughtfully. Typically you are in the age of majority when you make the decision to change. There is supposed to be a lot of community support, and there's also some paperwork that needs to be filled out to let local government know your impending change in species status- you know, for census reasons. But there's always someone, somewhere, whose gonna fuck around and someone else is going to end up finding out. It's rather traumatic for someone to suddenly be forced out of their own species - suspecting folks can make the shift in a delirium, where they are a danger to themselves and others. John Moon is an example - he was mauled by a werewolf when he was a child, and ended up running around London for 4 nights delirious and out of his skin. Worse still, he was permanently contracted while in his delirium, locking him to Sarah until her death. Support groups exist for those who had a difficult or non-consensual change. Adrien's experience in AWIL would certainly count as a non-consensual change, so if circumstances were different, he would likely be going to a support group to talk about his experiences and help him accept his change.

As for the different magical communities and who they tend to pay tribute to as their patron, this is mostly going off the limited information I had from season 1 & 2, because after that I faded into obscurity, so a lot of details are made up and very different from what came to be established in the actual cannon.

Please, please keep in mind this is literally lore that is six years old, formed in the infancy of the show. ;_;

Firstly, though I frequently refer to the kwami as gods in AWIL, the communities who hold the Miraculous as patrons don't normally worship them as gods. Some do, of course. Most see the Miraculous as... a team, I guess you could say. What species is willing to support which team and the ideals they represent. Think of how frothed up us humans get about our sports teams, our fandoms, our celebrities - you ever think of crying when meeting your hero? You ever go to a con to meet your fave actor and end up giving them gifts? Now imagine your favourite person being an ancient god of immense power embodying an element of the universe itself. Magical folk tend to go a little apeshit. And even if it's not their Miraculous showing up in a place, it's still a big deal for any Miraculous to turn up anywhere, such as with Ladybug and Chat Noir turning up in London..

Now for the Miraculous themselves:

Ladybug Miraculous, representing Creation and secondarily Good Luck - the witches claim this as their patron, as do many other earthen-adjacent communities. They themselves are creators and caretakers, creatures of the meadows and forests, and so see themselves best reflected in the Ladybug Miraculous. Many who are classically aligned with “good” intentions tend to claim Tikki to make it that much obvious that they are Good, even when Creation itself is pretty neutral on the alignment scale. Tikki has the second most diverse following amongst magical communities. They would pay tribute in sugar.

Cat Miraculous, representing Destruction and secondarily Bad Luck - the low beings claim this as their patron. They are the creatures who embody misfortune of many kinds; demons who've fed on human hearts, plague spirits festered from sickness and decay, etc. Not necessarily evil, considering that destruction is as necessary to life as creation, however those who align under destruction are classically understood as those on the darker spectrum of magic. Of all the Miraculous, Plagg actually has the most followers, since the "low beings" are a very diverse collection within the magical community. They would pay tribute in rot.

Turtle Miraculous, representing Protection and secondarily Wisdom - the vampires, elves and others of long-lived species actually claim this as their patron. Over many lifetimes, creatures can collect vast stores of knowledge. And to be wise, knowledge must be shared. They believe the turtle best represents their cleverness, long lives, and wisdom. They would pay tribute in apples.

Fox Miraculous, representing Illusion and secondarily Lies. Many of the Fair Folk claim the fox, as does any creature who enjoys hiding their true face or telling stories to light the dark nights. Between the Fae and the fox, the relationship is somewhat fraught, since Fae cannot outright lie while the fox's gift is to make any lie sound like truth. However, the illusions of the fox are what draw the fae in. They would pay tribute in alcohol, preferably hard liquors.

Bee Miraculous, representing Cooperation and secondarily Friendship. This is the patron Miraculous to all those who seek a friend - to the lonely and the brokenhearted. To the helpers who sweep hearths, shine shoes, and tend fields in return for kind words and bowls of milk. The bee claims no absolute community, but welcomes all to come and go as needed. Tribute would be paid in honey.

Butterfly Miraculous, representing Change and secondarily Inspiration. Werebeasts, shifters, and wargs claim the Butterfly, as well as many artists, bards, and wanderers. The thought is, claim the butterfly and get inspired! Because all werebeasts were once human, they weren't raised in the magical community so they don't have the same awe as others would toward the Miraculous. In recent years, with the Butterfly being used for evil, fewer folk openly claim it as their patron. Tribute would be paid in eggs.

Peacock Miraculous, representing Truth and secondarily Emotions. If any Fair Folk does not claim the fox, then they would claim the peacock. Truth is enduring and powerful- for some it is cruel and others it is kind. Scattered others communities claim the peacock, those who tend to feed on or stoke human emotions - succubi, incubi, etc. Tribute is paid in alcohol, preferably wine.

It's a bit late, so I'll settle it there for now. I realize that I have thought farrrrrrr too much about AWIL lore. I also realize that it has diverged so much from where the canon of the show went, it's moderately embarrassing. BUT I'm glad someone asked me! It feels really nice to write it all out and tell some folks. Maybe it will give more insight into the world of AWIL? It doesn’t have much to do with the story, it’s all just background info, really. Hope you didn’t mind getting spammed. ^^;
