I know that Jamie/Colin isn't the focus of this blog, but I really liked your "Locker Room Conversations" ficlet, and I was wondering if you had any headcanons/thoughts on how, in an alternate universe, a Jamie/Colin might shake out.

Well, to be honest I’ve never really thought about it too much since I don’t particularly ship Jamie/Colin, but let’s see what I can scrounge up for you, ey?

The one actual headcanon I do have:

Colin had a bit of a crush on Jamie back when Jamie first joined the team, and Jamie knew about it but never said anything. I entertain this notion at least half-seriously because I find it’s very entertaining to think about Jamie knowing and not really reflecting much on it, other than to go “uh yeah of course he has a crush on me who can blame him i mean have you seen me?”

Pre-canon angst

If you want something early and angsty and potentially canon-compliant, you could have the two of them hooking up before Jamie and Keeley get together (we have no idea when that was, but I think it was after Jamie joined Richmond purely for logistical reasons – hassle keeping a London girlfriend when you live in Manchester),. For Jamie it’s mostly about getting off and feeling a bit better about himself (both from making Colin feel good sexually and from Colin being a bit of a fanboy, giving his ego a boost) because Jamie’s not in a great place at this time. For Colin, there’s also feelings, so yes. Angst. Could end on that unhappy note, or you could go full AU and have Jamie slowly realizing that actually, he cares for Colin. (SHOCKER!) Obviously you’d need a turning point of Colin taking a stand and breaking things off with Jamie because he doesn’t want to be used like this anymore. He is a strong and capable man who deserves better! Cue Jamie having to prove his genuine affection and woe Colin back. Very classic rom-com vibe, and thus not my style at all, but I’m trying to give offer you a variety of flavour here.

Season 2 Enemies to lovers

In an another world, I think there’s a lot of potential for something set early during season 2, when Jamie first returns to Richmond. As mentioned in my recent post, I’m very intrigued by Colin’s reaction to this and how they go from him being very angry with Jamie to loving him so much, man. Besides, enemies to lovers is my one true ship trope, so I might even read this if I ever came across it.

Vanilla version: Colin is working hard to convince himself that he’s a strong and capable man, and he doesn’t need Jamie Tartt reminding him – simply by being around – of the person he used to be only a year before. Jamie is hellbent on repairing their friendship, though, and while initially Colin finds some measure of petty satisfaction at seeing Jamie’s bumbling attempts at making amends, he’s little by little and in spite of himself won over. I can see Jamie persistently taking him out on friend dates and Colin first agreeing only because he kind of enjoys torturing Jamie a little by being an ass, but Jamie is undettered and then they start having a really good time together and in therapy Colin comes to realize that part of his anger with Jamie is really anger with his own past behaviour – and maybe some shame over having had a crush on someone who was such an asshole. Over time, soft and mushy feelings develop. There are lots of hand-holding and cuddling and watching reality shows and bitching about the contestants together. They go on really stupid fucking adventures and love clubbing and once they come out to the team they are really kind of insufferable because their joint himbo energy is a threat to all of mankind, but they are so fucking adorable it’s hard to be mad (except for when they bring their bitchiest selves and team up to bring it down on everyone else, epic sassy style).

Dark/angsty/kinky version: Jamie is doing his best to make things right with the team, but Colin’s still not having it and in the end Jamie (remembering the crush Colin once had on him) offers sex as a way to make amends/prove how sincere he is. Colin can’t resist taking him up on the offer because even if he’s long over his crush the idea of Jamie kneeling in front of him, of Colin’s fist twisting in Jamie’s hair as he fucks his mouth, of Colin using Jamie however he sees fit and Jamie letting him… That does things for Colin, particularly when he’s in this vengeful state, yeah? Can end on a dark note, if that’s your jam, or end with some sweet comfort, aftercare and reconciliation.

Cracky post-canon poly shenanigans

Keeley is dating both Roy and Jamie, and while Jamie and Roy are not dating each other there’s this tension between them and yeah, maybe they wanna give this whole also sleeping with each other thing a go, except neither of them has ever done anything with another man before and so they’re a bit unsure about how to proceed and things keep Not Happening. (In this universe, Keeleys staunchly refuses to guide them, no matter how hot she’d find it, because she’s very much and rightly on the let Roy and Jamie sort Roy and Jamie out track.)

Jamie, glorious solution oriented himbo that he is, goes to Colin for some pointers on how to be gay, mate and after Colin stops staring inredulously at him he shrugs and gives him some general hints, the more gay love the better right, only Jamie soon comes back for a more hands-on tuition session because no, i tried, mate, but i just couldn’t figure it out, could you maybe show me instead? and Colin is a good friend (who once had a crush on Jamie), so yeah, that happens.

Keeps happening too, because everything Colin is teaching Jamie is working great and Roy and Jamie are very much getting it on and having a grand old time – but to no reader’s great surprise, there’s also some feelings starting to grow between Sassy Himbo No. 1 and Sassy Himbo No. 2. and in the end Jamie is not only dating Keeley and Roy but Colin too!

Colin only dates Jamie, though – the very idea of being involved with Keeley, a woman, or Roy, a Roy, is slightly nauseating and somewhat scary to him. There are no joint dates, no dinners for all four of them. Isaac is a little perplexed and initially concerned over the whole set-up but he sees how happy it makes his best friend so he rolls with it, even if he does end up having a talk with Roy about how he needs to make an effort to not look angry when Jamie and Colin go off together after training. I’m not angry, that’s just my face, Roy protests. Yeah, Isaac agrees, I know, bruv, but it’s freaking Colin out a little so maybe make an effort to not look like yourself, yeah? So the next time, Roy tries for a smile and Colin has trouble sleeping that night.

(For an extra helping of crack if Jamie/everyone is your thing: When the rest of the team learns of this, a few of the lads complain that it’s not fair that Keeley and Roy and Colin all get to have Jamie as their boyfriend when they don’t, but Jamie quickly assures them that he can be their boyfriend too! [Right… ? with sideway glances at Roy and Colin who just nod.] There’s plenty of Jamie to go around! Except he’s kind of busy with the partners he’s already got so maybe they need a scheduele and it’ll mostly be odd dates, but yeah, everyone who wants to can sign up for the Jamie Tartt Boyfriend Experience and in the end one fourth of the team is dating Jamie in some shape or form.)

That’s what I got for now. I hope at least one of them tickled your fancy, even if I strayed into OT3+ territory there for a bit...

RPG Read-through: Himbos of Myth & Mettle

After my recent read-through of .dungeon//remastered (originally posted to Twitter), someone there was like "I really like your old read-throughs. Have you put those somewhere else for when Twitter inevitably dies?" I hadn't! So here is a read-through I did last year about one of my favorite releases from the last few years Himbos of Myth & Mettle! - Christian

Time to read-through one of the most fun games I've played this year: Himbos of Myth & Mettle by Maxwell Lander!

Right out of the gate, this game has such an exuberant, fun energy to it, and I like the voice throughout the writing. The concept could be done much more impersonally/traditionally, but it really wouldn't carry the same feel at all.

Straightforward d20 roll-under system with guidance to create drama and fun over everything else. I've played with the dice chain optional rule and enjoyed it! It's something I love in other games and it's fun to see its inverse here (smaller dice are better).

Interestingly, the system has a mixed success component as well - although you may not expect it with the d20 base. It takes something like your ability modifiers from a traditional game and makes that into a window of error that gets you success with a complication.

The magic system is a lot of fun here. Any himbo can use their Heart stat to attempt superhuman or supernatural things. You answer some quick questions to determine the cost and roll to see if you pull it off. There's an effect table too if things go wrong with some wild results.

The Heart system is a good encapsulation of what I enjoyed about this when I've had the chance to play it. It has this vivacious, positive, and often cartoonish energy to it where things almost always go big, in good and bad ways. It's very heartfelt (no pun intended).

Fun art (by Mary Verhoeven) and quotes throughout this book too. I wonder if these were real player characters from playtesting or maybe in-universe Legends of Himbodom?

One of the most memorable lists of player stats out there. It stresses letting players use most stats for most things. Doing something very courageous in combat? Roll Breast over Thighs. Flirting with an NPC to distract them while you pick their pocket? Roll Lips over Hands.

Death is rare, rather Himbos take Scars when they fall to 0 Heart (acting primarily as health but also "mana" to some extent). Each scar makes them more and more jaded, a bit more negative. After 4 scars, they retire - becoming a hero maybe (yes, heroes are bad here!)

There are special abilities, skills (gained from a lifepath system), and Heat (a bonus pool that reflects how sexy you are in the moment). I had a lot of fun with the special abilities in particular when I played.

D20 tables throughout help build the tone really well. It's clear what kind of characters this game is focused on after looking these over. I really like lifepath systems in games, and this one is surprisingly extensive. It's fun to roll a random character and see who comes out.

Tips section gives some guidance about trying to create a different type of story and different types of conflicts than you typically see in fantasy RPGs. I really like the take on Heroes here. It's a great twist on the genre (and is probably more accurate, honestly).

It's got two adventures in the back, including the 12th Annual Fresh Meat Games which was the adventure I got to play through at EFCon. It's a local festival and competition that the PCs join to test their mettle in front of big crowds. Lots of fun.

Nice little thing: there's a library check-out card holder on the back inside cover with little character sheets in it!

That's the game! It's a lean little book, quick to read and quicker to play. It's got a straightforward central system with fun twists and tables throughout to ramp up the drama and really the entire text just exudes a unique, over-the-top, heartfelt tone I love.

This chapter is the last bit of fluff before we get some seriously hard discussions on depression and whatnots. It was hard to type. I am a broken man (and I'm not even a man) now. Lol. But I got it out. Yeaaaaaah!

Excerpt 1:

How am I supposed to look at Gojo when he’d caught me with my hands in my metaphorical pants?! Oh, God. Somebody kill me now. Please, I send up a quick prayer, make it quick. And I do what I’m good at when I feel uncomfortable: I immediately get defensive. Crossing my arms and attempting to school my face into the meanest glare I can scorch him with, I let out a disgruntled, “Th-that’s what you get for spying on me in the bath. Creep. Pervert,” I hiss out, face so unbelievably hot that I think I’m going to faint. He tilts his head in confusion, expression blank. Looking the perfect picture of the clueless himbo. “Spying? You think I was spying on you?” Pointedly, I remove the glass bead necklace from my cleavage and show him. “That’s what this is, isn’t it? You said it before: it links us somehow. So, how exactly does it link us, huh?” And that seemingly gets it through his thick skull. The man’s eyes widen and he puts his hand over his mouth, letting out a puff that says he’s trying to hold back a laugh. And, call me crazy, but I can’t quite find the humor in this gross breach of trust and privacy. I regret not smacking him when I had the chance! “You think that’s funny or something?” I grit out, teeth clenched. He shakes his head again, wet hair flopping onto his forehead. “Pfft. You’re just so cute when you’re flustered, my little miracle! Is that all you’re worried about?” I growl at him in response. “Ah, no need to be upset with me,” he tries to soothe. “The protective charm doesn’t give me specifics. All I know is that your Cursed energy shot through the roof, like you were in danger.” “Th-that’s all, right?” “Why do you seem so nervous, Oracle-chan?” I glower at him. “I was in the bath, you pervert! I’m just making sure that you can’t—I don’t know—see through the necklace or feel what I feel!” He mimes being hurt, holding a hand over his chest. Dramatic. “So mean! Do I really seem like the type to do something so awful?” I don’t even miss a beat. “Yes.”

Exerpt 2:

“You’re going to have to find something professional, you know,” the black-haired girl announces to me. “I think you’re super cute dressed the way you are—don’t get me wrong—but a lot of businesses here are pretty concerned with appearances. They like for their employees to always look their best.” I blink at her. “It’s a cosplay café.” Akemi shakes her head. “Doesn’t matter. Are they providing a uniform?” I think back to what Saki had told me when I’d been asked to come in for my first day at the end of the week. And she’d mentioned getting a shirt in my size, but nothing else. And when I tell my friend this, she asks if I have any formal or semi-formal bottoms to pair with a top. And… I don’t think I do. Shoko and I had mostly focused on comfort during our Gojo-funded shopping spree. Which means nothing starchy or stiff. Thus, no formal stuff. And when asked about my shoe options, I unhelpfully show off my skater shoes that are in no way even the tiniest bit professional. So, I’ll need shoes, too. Green eyes shining with something I can’t quite name—not mischief, but also nothing innocent—Akemi slaps her hands down on my countertops. “You know what this means?" she asks, voice tinged with excitement. “Err—” “Shopping trip!” I perk up at the thought. Oh, those two magical words. I mean… I do still have a few of my own funds to dip into. And the expense is necessary. So, a little shopping can’t hurt… right? I wiggle in my seat, excited. I used to love going shopping with friends, way back when. Honestly, I miss those trips to our local mall, trying on the ugliest clothes we could find and snatching deals off of the discount racks. It makes me a little homesick… Takuma calls out to us from my sleeping platform, where he’s got Mrs. Ukki clutched in his lap, petting her leaves lovingly. I’m always so amazed at how much he loves that damn plant. He babies it every time he comes over. Honestly, I think he visits just to see it. “Yeah, you girls can count me out. Not interested in being roped into the bag boy. Again,” he grouses, eyeing his sister with a glower. “You an’ Ma worked me to the bone last time.” “Just consider it strength training, Takkun. If you can hold that many kilos of clothing for six hours straight, imagine the damage you can do to Curses!” she responds, voice a little evil. I jump in before they can start with their usual sibling bickering. “That’s fine,” I tell him, pacifying them both in one fell swoop. “I don’t want to make you do something you want. But you’ll have to come back over later to let us back into the Veil.”

just this moodboard I made years ago. The Starks + Jon & Ghost go down to their grandma's house, because grandma thinks it's haunted

Robb as himbo Fred, Sansa as Daphne, Arya as Velma, Jon as Shaggy, and Ghost as Scooby.

except, of course, it'd be a darker tone than the actual scooby doo cartoon. I have the plot in my head, I know the story beats, I know the villain and all the decoy villains. I just, you know, can't seem to get past the few pages I wrote back in 2021. Part of me wonders if it's the 1970s setting. I have a lot of trouble writing period pieces, especially of times I'm not super familiar with. I was fine with the 90s because I at least was a child then, but the 70s?? I suppose I could change it, but I have a very specific music reference I want to use and I need it to be 1977 for that.

Anyway, here's a snippet (more than what's written under the moodboard):

Deciding to go and actually going are two very different things, it turns out.

For one, they don't have a car.

Well, the family has two cars, actually - a luxury that Sansa often forgets is a luxury. Dad makes enough money that they can have two cars and send three kids to college while still living in their well-to-do neighborhood. But one of the cars is at the airport in long term parking where dad left it, and mom needs the other to run errands and take care of Bran and Rickon.

“We could take a train?” Sansa suggests as they sit in one of the booths of Luwin's Diner. Arya's busy working on a double fudge sundae, Robb's finishing up his fries, and Sansa takes another sip of her strawberry milkshake.

“I don't think a train goes anywhere near Grandma's house. The closest stop would probably be in Red Fork, and then we'd still have no way of getting to Riverrun.”

“Sans, doesn't your boyfriend have a car we could borrow? Isn't his dad a car salesman?”

Sansa feels her cheeks flush with heat, and she shakes her head. “Harry and I broke up at the end of the semester,” she says like it doesn't bother her. Like she hadn't walked in on him naked, in bed, with a girl from his Literature class.

“Bummer,” Arya says, though Sansa knows it's because of the car thing and not actually Harry. The one time they'd met, Arya had not liked Harry. But then again, Arya's never liked any of Sansa's boyfriends, and she’s usually - annoyingly - right.

Robb's been silent for a while, he's staring out the window and Sansa turns to see what he's looking at. Across the street is a pizza shop and an auto body.

“I'll be right back,” Robb says, a slight frown on his face, a line between his brows. He gets up and leaves the diner, crossing the street towards the auto body. Mance's Auto, the sign reads.

“Where's he going?”

Arya leans over to watch Robb with her own frown. “Is that Jon's van?”

“Jon who?”

Arya sighs and points at a teal blue Volkswagen van that's parked in the alley between Mance's Auto and the pizza shop, so far back that Sansa hadn't even seen it at first. “Jon Snow.”

Memories slam back into Sansa's body, looking at that van. Of Robb and Jon and Theon driving off in it, mom's disapproving frown every time they did. Of that van parked on the street outside their house, the smell of pot drifting up from the basement whenever mom and dad weren't home. Of the one and only time she'd ever been inside it – Joffrey's letterman jacket lying in the back seat, abandoned, while Jon's leather one sat heavy and warm over her shoulders. Her eyes red and puffy, her nose still running. That endless silence as he drove her home.

She hasn't seen Jon in years.

“I didn't think they were friends anymore?” is all she manages to say, as Robb disappears inside the auto body.

“Beats me.” There's a pause, and Sansa can feel Arya's energy shift into something mischievous. “C'mon, let's go see.”

With that, Arya slides out of the booth and Sansa stares after her in shock. “Arya!” she whispers harshly, but Arya is already halfway out the door and Sansa quickly grabs her purse to follow. As she gets out of the booth, she digs around and manages to find a few bills that she drops onto the table and hopes is enough. If not, Mr. Luwin knows they're good for it.

She follows Arya outside and across the street, but Arya doesn't go into the shop, she goes around the side alley, to the van. To Sansa's surprise, Robb and Jon are already there.

It really has been years since she last saw Jon, not since the summer after Robb's high school graduation. Jon looks different now – he's always had long hair, but now it's tied back out of his face and he's grown a beard and his hands are covered in either grease or oil, she can't tell. There's a rag that hangs from one of the belt loops of his jeans, and Jon is busy using it to wipe his hands, though Sansa thinks the effort is wasted, since the rag seems to be just as covered in grease as his hands are.

He and Robb look like they're arguing, but Jon's mouth snaps shut when he sees her and Arya at the opening of the alleyway between the auto body and the pizza shop. It's also then that Sansa notices a white dog leashed to a bit of fencing, with bowls of water and food near it.

“Hey Jon,” Arya greets, looking between him and Robb. “It's been a while.”

“Arya,” Jon nods at her and then his eyes slide over to Sansa. “Sansa.”

“Hi Jon,” she gives him a little wave, unsure what else to do. There's a weird tension in the alley that she can't figure out.

“Does Jon have a car he can lend us?” Arya asks, and from the way Jon sighs, Sansa can tell this was the conversation he and Robb were already having.

“Jon says his boss wouldn't lend us a car,” Robb frowns. “And he won't let us borrow his van.”

“Robb,” Sansa hears herself say, and she almost winces at the scolding tone. She sounds a lot like their mother.

“What?” Robb asks with wide eyes. “We wouldn't need it for too long! And his mom doesn't live that far, he could walk to work no problem.”

“Do you still have that beanbag in the back?” Arya asks, moving towards the side of Jon's van. “I used to love that thing.

Arya takes hold of the handle and Jon opens his mouth in protest, but he's too late. Arya pulls open the door and instead of a beanbag chair that Sansa doesn't remember ever seeing (though again, she'd only been in the van once, and she hadn't been paying much attention to the interior), there's a lumpy twin mattress stuffed into the back, rumpled sheets piled haphazardly on it, trash bags of what looks like clothes on the seats in front of it.

Arya stares at it in confusion, until Jon moves forward and shuts the door, the slam of it echoing through the alleyway.

“Your mom kick you out again?” Robb asks, voice low, and Sansa wishes desperately that she and Arya had never followed. She feels like she shouldn't be hearing this. “You know you can always crash-”

“It's fine,” Jon starts wiping at his hands again with the rag. It's useless. He's just making it worse. “If you need the van to help your grandma, you can take it.”

"Where will you live?” Robb asks with a scowl. Arya still looks a bit shocked at the revelation.

“I dunno, maybe I'll go apologize and see if mom will let me back in.”

“Was the fight your fault?”

Jon shrugs, and it only deepens Robb's frown.

“You could come with us?”

All three of them turn to look at her, and Sansa wonders where that even came from. The words simply flew out of her mouth before she realized what she was saying.

“That's a great idea!” Arya's confusion clears and is replaced with excitement. “C'mon Jon, this road trip will be loads more fun if you're along and I'm not stuck with these two dorks.”

Sansa watches Jon hesitate, looking between his van and Robb, then the back entrance to Mance's Auto. “I guess Mance has been on me to take some time off,” he hedges. “Ghost would have to come, too.

“Perfect,” Arya grins.

Hi! First of all I wanted to thank you for the posts you've made about the racism in the TMA canon, especially in regards to the handling of Annabelle, Daisy, and Basira as characters. There were some things that always felt off to me about canon but since I'm white I didn't have much experience at putting together all the pieces. You've really helped. The idea you had of switching Basira and Daisy for Julia and Trevor is so cool too!

Anyway, it's not your job to teach me so you obviously don't have to answer this if you don't have the inclination or energy to do so. I was wondering something about the fandom racism you often write about. You've given examples of how fandom makes Jon ambiguously brown and Martin white based on (flawed) interpretations of canon personalities. I get that part, but besides it I haven't really spotted any other racism that isn't already in canon. Obviously there's additional instances of fandom racism here that I simply can't spot yet. So I'm mostly wondering if you could give any tips on how to see it? Like are there any specific tropes in TMA fanfiction, fanart, or fan analysis that are especially bad? I would hate to unknowingly hurt people with my own work.

anyway hi!! thank you for the question! definitely a lot to consider here.

in my experience, the thing with fandom racism is that it's often (though not always) hard to see in individual instances, but more something i notice in patterns and overall trends with how diff characters get treated. it's very insidious in this way, and it allows perpetrators of fandom racism to shrug off specific instances of it happening because it's not that big of a deal, you're making this about race, etc etc

fandom racism is most often visible in the treatment of white characters vs nonwhite characters (in the case of tma or other non-visual, whether that race is canon or fanon). it looks like characters of color getting called "dumb" and "stupid" more often than their white counterparts, even in the face of canon evidence to the contrary. it looks like characters of color getting shafted, ignored, or even outright villainized because they get in the way of a ship between white characters. it looks like fandoms being more than willing to write nuance, backstory, and personality into white characters when it isn't there, but never afford the same grace to characters of color, or even actively ignore existing characterization of POC in favor of focusing solely on expanding on their white faves. or excusing white characters for the same actions they villify characters of color for.

(obviously, there are more overt instances of fandom racism, but it doesn't seem like that's what you're asking about, so we'll stick with stuff like this for now)

i'm far from the first to talk about or notice these issues; there are many folks out there who've dedicated years of work and study into documenting and discussing fandom racism. stitch and saathi are two that come to mind off the top of my head, but there are many more.

an example of this from the ATLA fandom is how often I've seen sokka get characterized as "dumb" or the "himbo" of the group, when he is canonically the "plans" guy/the team strategist, and literally invents multiple complex machines over the course of the show. every character in ATLA get their dumb, silly, funny moments, but sokka, the visibly brown man of the group, is the one who constantly gets reduced to only that being a defining character trait. again, despite canon evidence to the contrary.

that's the thing, i think: it's fine to call someone dumb for a specific decision or say they did something stupid. ur not inherently racist for calling a character who happens to be nonwhite dumb. but are you reducing that to be their defining trait?

in TMA, fanon racism looks like a lot of things. it looks like people bending over backwards to create headcanon and backstory for minor white (often male) characters who really don't have all that much (og!elias, michael shelley), while completely ignoring the complex and dynamic characters of color (salesa, oliver, annabelle).* it looks like people widely depicting jon as (ambiguously) brown and then regularly referring to him as dirty, stupid, "feral," being unable to take care of himself, pathetic, etc etc.** or people comparing a jon they've portrayed as brown to animals, especially rats (genuinely, the number of times i've seen that specific comparison is insane). it looks like Tim getting broadly cast as East Asian and also broadly reduced to "dumb flirty sexual himbo" as his only character traits, even though he canonically is very intelligent (nothing wrong with being flirty or sexual, but when that is all that tim is allowed to be, that's a problem). it looks like people making excuses for characters who are killer cops, agents of a deeply violent and racist state institution. it looks like people highlighting and exacerbating the more "monstrous" traits (physical or figurative) of a brown jon while simultaneously flattening a white martin to be more pure, good, and "human" (give me more monster martin designs it's hot i prommy). or people not taking the time and care to draw their characters of color properly. it looks like people ignoring that characters like jonah/elias, daisy, basira, and peter are white supremacists. etc etc.

generally, i think it's just good to be mindful of how you think and talk about characters of color vs white characters. it's good to be aware of what your gut reaction is to a nonwhite character (canon or fanon) vs a white character in the same situation. how much agency are these characters given? are they allowed to exist as whole people, or reduced to fun memey tropes? which tropes are getting assigned to which characters? i guess insofar as tips on how to see this stuff, I don't really know how to answer that question because for me, as someone directly affected by it, i just... see it, yaknow? but these are some patterns to be on the lookout for. i think in general, just being mindful and aware of the fact that there is a discrepancy between the way fandom talks about, engages with, and treats it's nonwhite characters and white characters will go a long way to spotting those discrepancies in action.

*because i always have to clarify this, it's not a bad thing to like these characters. or to headcanon things about them. but it's frustrating to see fandom over and over again latch onto white male characters -- some of whom, like og!elias, are deliberately written to be boring (literally guys the whole point of elias is that he's a privileged white dude and that's it) -- while simultaneously refusing to engage with characters of color or offer them the same grace.

**again, nothing wrong w making jokes about characters being dumb or poor pathetic little meow meows etc etc. that's fine (in moderation). i find those funny! but like. there is certainly a line where people take it too far and completely strip POC (in this case Jon) of their agency, and act like they are completely helpless and incapable. often doubled with them needing a white character to come "save" or fix thim (in this case, often martin).

Ok so I was reading your other headcanons about the slasher with an s/o who has powers and I was wondering if you could do the slashers with an s/o who’s super into witchcraft? Crystals, Spells, hex’s, working with deity’s etc. if not I totally understand!

Ohhhh I LOVE THIS!!! I'm trying to learn my witchcraft myself, and I'm really fond of my spell jars, so I'd give these fuckers like 12 and insist they carry every single one with them when they go out. As I said, I'm still learning, so if I get something wrong let me know!!! Onwards to crystalline glory!! (and I think I'm gonna try a new format mayhaps?? Tell me what y'all think or if it's easier to read)

Vincent Sinclair:

I think he'd want to learn too, he just seems like a really chill guy to me. I'm not sure this is a thing, but I think he'd like the idea of trying to look for atonement, but I also really like the headcanon that he doesn't fully understand exactly how fucked up what he's doing is, but on the third hand he's a smart man. So many headcanons <_>

Would try deity work to improve his art, I firmly believe this. He will go for every art-related deity he can find. And I don't know about y'all, but I love drawing stuff that's supposed to have this divine, godly energy to it, and I think he'd also be really in to that and take inspiration from any deities either of y'all work with

Shadow work. This man would like shadow work. I can feel it. (I think Bo would also appreciate it but we'll get to that later-). I think Vincent carries a lot of shame from his face and maybe even what he does, and ofc the goddamn abuse from Tr*dy and V*ctor (I swear to the GODS I will kill them both a second time myself). Anyways

I think any specific section that deals with healing the self and stuff like that is going to be attractive to him, cause he needs therapy but, pretty obviously, there are no therapists in Ambrose. He genuinely wants to improve himself, particularly after he meets you

He thinks crystals are pretty but he's not going to be as obsessed with them as you (me) are. Would give you any crystals he finds and would use a few, just not overboard like you (me).

I think he's a firm herb man. He can identify them and will take you around Ambrose and the surrounding nature areas on dates to gather herbs. Can find you just about anything. Will find you just anything (wait can I hex his parents??)

He loves your spell jars, he makes spell jars, y’all just about have a spell jar in every room in the house, hell in the town. I make small spell jar necklaces, and he would love love love those. Y’all make each other tons of small wearable jars, and it makes him feel really loved. He just really enjoys everything you do, especially when you do something for him, and he finds witchcraft helpful and fulfilling

Bo Sinclair:

Thinks it sounds a little silly when you first describe it. Witch? Isn't that for kids and Halloween?

Eventually gets it when he sees some of the rituals you do and the peace and comfort it brings you, and will not very subtly bring you supplies, like jars from his garage, herbs from around town, crystals

The crystals are like, particularly shiny gravel pieces he sees or sea glass or something, aggressive himbo tries his best

I think all three Sinclairs would be able to find and bring you plants, I think they spent a lot of time in the woods to escape their life/their parents

Would be iffy on the deity work, maybe think it's a load of shit cause when was a god ever there for him?

Along with that, I think he'd come around to deities eventually, but I also think he would maybe peek in on any work you do with self-healing. He wouldn't be into full-on witchcraft, but I think he has a tiny piece that wants that healing and love. Another man that needs therapy but doesn't have access, please somebody help this baby-

I think he would really like the idea of baneful magic, and would also wonder if you could hex dead people. . . (I really hate Tr*dy and V*ctor ok).

Overall, he may think it’s a little strange but if you like it, he likes it

(I forgot to mention for all three brothers you will have an endless supply of candles in every shade possible, maybe that’s obvious but I wanted to point it out).

Would let you put spell jars in his shop, in y’all’s room, and maybe even carry a small one with him (but he won’t admit it, or admit that it makes him feel loved that you made him a spell jar and want to use time and materials on him-).

Michael Myers:

Is also not going to really understand it, and may have some stereotypes based on his social experience (which is -0%).

Another one that will bring you crystals if he can find any, and also another one that deems shiny gravel to be crystals

He won’t know a whole lot about herbs, or anything really. I think he’s the type to eat things he shouldn’t, herbs included (he would eat road salt with me, I firmly believe it). You’d probably have to try to hid your herbs cause once you told him, “don’t eat that!!” he’s going to try harder to eat it. Mans is just a cat, does almost everything out of spite.

He’s not going to really buy in to it or join you in witchcraft. This man just doesn’t believe in a higher power, especially not a compassionate one. He’s been through too much to believe there’s anybody looking out for him, and he most definitely has believes that no god, particularly a loving one, would make someone like him. Goddamn it I want to love all these boys until they love themselves

I think he would believe himself more powerful than any deity, I mean he should be dead, but instead he’s killed so many, taken so many lives, he bows to no one

Would indulge one (1) of your spell jars. He would carry one (1) small one with him, but there’s a good chance he would lose it. I do think a part of him really appreciates that you made something for him, that you appeal to your religion to try and protect him even if he doesn’t believe in it like you do

Ok maybe he’s not like an atheist, well like he doesn’t really subscribe to higher powers, but I do think he’d be superstitious. Like he thinks rabbit feet are lucky, but maybe that he’s too powerful for anything to work on him. Will walk under a ladder because he thinks it’s supposed to give him bad luck, and thinks it’s funny/appropriate that it won’t work on him because he’s kinda like a supernatural entity himself

Does that make sense?? Like he believes in it, but thinks of himself as the exception because he’s been the exception to most things

Would ask you to hex Dr. Loomis, would bring you anything you needed, and you would want to do it (fuck Loomis 2022)

Thomas Hewitt:

He has to get used to it, cause I really believe he was raised in a somewhat conservative Christian household. He’d be nervous, worrying that his family would find out and get mad about it. There’s also that feeling of doing something he’s not supposed to, like when I first started practicing or thinking of Christianity in a less-than-positive way; that feeling of forbiddenness

I think you’d have to teach him about it and get him comfortable and show him you aren’t some... ok I’d say show him you aren’t a devil-worshipper but A) that just seems rude and 2) he eats people, he has no room to talk in this situation. But you show him it's more about reconnecting with nature and yourself, and something that just brings you comfort, and he can’t deny you. He really likes to hear you talk about the things you like and learn about them

After he gets used to it, he’ll help you. Like find you supplies, help you build an altar, stuff like that. Would help you plant a lil herb garden and give you any crystals he finds, I think he likes crystals too

This is a crafty man, he will sew you stuff, all the time. AND he’d include any sigils you have in pieces of clothing for you

Will fight Hoyt or Monty if they wanna try and pick on you. Tommy’s death glare is both hot and terrifying, it allllll depends on who it’s aimed at. I like the idea that he’s very close with Luda, and that she’s pretty accepting, so if he/y’all sat down and explained it all to her she’d be chill, maybe even join you on it. Definitely see her liking herbs and crystals too, and spell jars

Luda and Tommy would let you put up spell jars everywhere, and Luda would knock the shit out of Hoyt (or Monty) for fucking with them. Good ol’ frying pan treatment

I think Thomas might have a few extra masks, just for like when he wants to switch them up (and I firmly believe he is a sewing GOD). And he’d add very small crystals to some of them, maybe bless them

Overall he’d be similar to Vinny, wanting to join in on the craft. Will treasure every single spell jar you make him. He melts when he thinks about how you care enough to make him a spell jar. Makes you some in return, and loves how y’all have a couple in most rooms

asdjfksjdhfkjshfjhds he’s just a sweetheart and y’all love each other and do stuff together

He’d also be into stuff focusing on atonement and self-healing, absolutely, another one who needs therapy

ANYWAYS, like a golden retriever, will bring you supplies like you told him to fetch (you did not, but he decided to anyways).

Very proud when he brings you crystals, and is ever more proud when they’re not pieces of gravel (he gets them confused sometimes, cause rock is rock)

LOVES that he’s a wilderness expert and can take you out looking for herbs. Like he is so excited that he can help you and spend time with you, and that y’all’s interests overlap a bit

I don’t think deity work would be his forte, but he totally supports you. Will help you set up an altar and everything, but I do think he’d like spell jars. Would help you make those too

Carries as many spell jars as possible, like he will try to have all 42 that you’ve made him on his person at once. And loves how they fit in to the aesthetic of his truck, like he hangs them from every available surface

BONES!!!!!!! will give you all the bones you want or need (I like bones from an aesthetic/goth/artist point of view). I think he’d make you jewelry out of the bones as like a thank-you for all the spell jar necklaces

He might ask you to jinx Bo if he’s being a little bitch, but doesn’t want anything bad, just to annoy his older brother for being an ass

Understands if you aren’t gonna do that, he has plenty of plans to screw with the twins (well, one specific twin).

I Firmly Believe that Lester Sinclair judges no one for things they like, he only judges people for being rude or bigoted or the likes. You like witchcraft? Cool, let him help you find plants and bones. Supports you in every single thing he can

If you find familiars (I’m not entirely sure how that works), or just find animals that are calling to you or come from a deity, he will happily adopt them. Like he’ll build them a lil place in the yard and find the right food for them

BL/QL Ask game : The Ugly, the Bad and the Worst

I'll try to stick to shows that have been released this year to keep things simple for me!

The categories are:

Worst soundtrack / weirdest song choice in a BL

Any time there's uncopyrighted Christmas music used in a scene that has nothing to do with Christmas, I scratch my head.

Most cringe-inducing line (cute)/Most cringe-inducing line (actually bad)

With my memory, I'll be lucky if I remember what happened in some shows 😬

Most stupid decision made by a character

Just about any decision that any character in Club Friday: Deepest Love makes, tbh.

Worst plot line

Basically any that involve amnesia, also whatever happened in the finale of Hidden Agenda.

The most problematic show you've watched

Different shows have different problems and what matters is understanding what makes something problematic. That said, Club Friday: Deepest Love made me raise my eyebrows.

A show people love but you find bad

Step by Step, this one goes out to you, your editing, your pacing and the way you were written let me down after ep 7 or 8, which ruined the entire show for me.

A show people find bad but you will defend

Chains of Heart was objectively not a great show, but it so fun to watch even though most of us did not understand what was happening and were mostly caught up in The Glove Discourse. And who was who. It was confusing!! Personally, I enjoyed how beautiful it was. And of course the locations used, unsurprisingly.

A show that is just objectively bad but you enjoyed it/were horny/because of that one character

House of Stars. Every week, I watched it without understanding what was going on, but you know what? I still wanted to see murder and murder there was.

A bad show that you kept watching because you were intrigued/fascinated

Club Friday: Deepest Love. That was an experience that I cannot recommend, yet still had a lot of fun watching because it was so wild. No spoilers, but I cannot believe it is supposed to be a real story.

A bad show that you would still recommend

Chains of Heart was incredibly enjoyable, especially when I turned off my thinking cap and just accepted things as they were.

The character that ruined a show the most/most awful character that you hated

Phu from The Promise, lol

Most awful character that you loved

I can't think of one right now...

A character that wasn't awful but that you just don't like

Ye Chan from Love Tractor. His himbo puppy energy was a little too much for me.

A hero that should have been a villain

I don't, but I think Nawin from Laws of Attraction, who is one of my favourites, should have more fans.

gjsjshdshf I will go off thank you (also I haven't gotten past the first stage yet but I've collected all the main cast so far, so, have your sister take that into account I guess)

blorbo (favorite character, character I think about the most): This is so hard to choose! Like genuinely I just can't. My top guys are Karlach, Lae'zel, Astarion, Wyll, and Gale. It's most of the cast.

scrunkly (my “baby”, character that gives me cuteness aggression, character that is So Shaped): Karlach! She so goddamn cute, and so fun. I know everything ever calls her a ball of sunshine, but they're all correct. She's peak himbo energy in a woman and so much more. If you leave her idle she starts dancing. I wanna buy her icecream.

scrimblo bimblo (underrated/underappreciated fave): Wyyyyylllll. He was a little boring at first just for being so noble with no obvious bastard tendencies, but after having him in my party for a bit I've realized he can be a little shit and I'm so much more attached now. I like that he actually cares and wants to do good, and as always I appreciate when a character has a lot of complications under the surface that are hard to spot immediately. I don't know what his whole deal is yet but I'm intrigued, I'll probably try to romance him in some playthrough. I don't see nearly enough fan content of him and it's a tragedy.

Also Lae'zel fits here I think? She doesn't seem to be as popular and that sucks because I'm obsessed with her. Weirdly enough kinda reminds me of Jamil if he was raised worse and like 80% more unhinged. I love that, despite the outward rabid warrior impression, for her culture she actually seems to be kind of a nerd? Girl read literally an entire library, she's insecure about not being strong enough and failing to live up to expectations, she fantasizes about being accepted by her own people and on some level seems to doubt that it'll happen, it's interesting. She's also hilarious to me, and I enjoy the blatant hostility tbh. Eventually I will convince her to fall in love with at least one of my Tavs, I need to know what she's like when she opens up, if she opens up, and I wanna see what her good end is like

glup shitto (obscure fave, character that can appear in the background for 0.2 seconds and I won’t shut up about it for a week): My man Withers. Memeable af. I haven't had any use for him so far but I love having him around because he cracks me up.

poor little meow meow (“problematic”/unpopular/controversial/otherwise pathetic fave): Let's hear it for white boy of the year, wettest cat, most unfortunate little bastard man with the biggest saddest eyes, and absolutely-totally-not-a-vampire-he-swears-on-his-own-grave: Astarion!! This is not a surprise. Your sister is probably sick of hearing about him. Everyone on the internet is probably sick of hearing about him. Half the fans hate him for reasons that range from fair enough, to homophobic, to entirely fabricated. The other half are completely obsessed with him for reasons that range from fair enough, to fetishistic, to entirely fabricated. I do genuinely feel that he's an incredibly valuable character and gives a level of honest nuance to abuse representation that needed to be shown. I'm glad they chose to portray his bad qualities and keep the good more subtle, he feels real and it's meaningful. He's also really funny and fun to get to know. I started romancing him on accident by trying to banter, and I'm enjoying that route so far. I love how bitchy he is and how hypocritical he ends up being about acts of kindness. I wanna see both his good and bad ends. (also I will never stop laughing at how bad he is at hiding that he's a vampire, like every single step of the way)

Honorable mention to Gale for also portraying a severely under acknowledged form of abuse and trauma! The way he expects and accepts mistreatment, the cruel dialog options that you are offered in response to him, and the reaction of fans who find him obnoxious or cumbersome all work so well to showcase the way society treats both addiction and autism to different degrees? Not to mention the reaction to his grooming, which can get pretty nasty. He's not as entertaining to me as the others, but he's important. I don't have the energy to really elaborate on my thoughts here and I know they're scrambled but yeah, I appreciate Gale.

horse plinko (character I would torment for fun, for whatever reason): idk, that one tiefling wizard guy with the shit attitude, I wouldn't wanna be cruel but I'd fuck with him a little just to get his head out of his ass. Also, more maliciously, I'd put Raphael back in the plinko from whence he came.

eeby deeby (character I would send to superhell): The orchestrators of everyone's tragic backstories. Let's be real, who can pick just one?

I love this!!! Thank you so much, these are so cute!!!

I would say that there's not many moments of the show where Steve is underrated, I think the fans as a whole have really appreciated and analyzed every moment of screen time that we've been give, understandably so, but my all time favorite moments are during the interrogation, SPECIFICALLY "He's long gone you big asshole" because it really just feels like Joe and Maya were cracking up and having fun during filming, despite the awful context of the scene. The other scene I enjoy is during S4 during Dear Billy when he's so genuinely concerned about Max and so touched to receive a letter. Everyone calls him Mom but he really has this Big Brother Energy like no other.

I wish so much that his chat with Robin while making Molotov cocktails was extended this season. I also don't wish it was. Kinda odd, I know. It was succinct in the way it needed to be, but I also feel like their relationship is so unique, especially in the sense that it's a strictly platonic male x female friendship, that I wish I could see more of their relationship beyond the banter.

I would LOVE to see some Steve backstory. Anything, any little crumbs of his life that they've hinted at and I would be thrilled. I also think that Steve should be single. I'm not going to fool myself into believing that Steddie would ever become canon, I'm not sure I'd want it to because I feel like it would kind of ruin the dynamic that the fans of the ship have created, but I want Steve to be a character that doesn't define self worth by relationship status. I feel like so much of his character growth has been rooted in who he has had a crush on and not how he as a person has grown, so I'd love that especially.

I won't say I can't stand it, but I've grown tired of the 'Steve has the groundbreaking discovery that he's bisexual' trope. It's not a bad one, hell I've used it, I just feel as though it's been done to the extent that it can be. I also don't love how he's written as stupid sometimes. He's a himbo 50000% but he's still a smart character. One that I love is that he's very emotionally intelligent. I love every time I read something and see that Steve is picking up on the emotions before anyone else does. It's uncommon to see a male character perceived that way, especially not one that is viewed as the group fighter.

This is so funny because the answer to both questions is the same: Hurt/Comfort and Sickfics. Anytime where Steve is trying to hide that he's hurt or generally having a hard time in order to avoid being a burden, only to have it all come crashing down on him as he is forced to rely on his friends and discover that he's loved *dreamy sigh*

This one is very tricky and I'm trying to find a way to answer without answering too much. As someone who writes fics, most of my scenarios are my plans for my fics. I am laying them out in my head thinking about dialogues and the movements of the characters. Right now I've been doing a lot of thinking about bits of Steve's backstory, especially how it would be affected by having a psychiatrist for a mother because that's the main plot of the fic I'm currently working on.

I like this one because it kinda came out of left field but bear with me here. Steve would 100000% wear friendship bracelets. Lots of them. All different colors and all from the kids. They'd teach him how to make them, El would string the beads with her mind, Max would show everyone how to braid, it would be a bonding experience like no other. I also think that Eddie would give him his class ring because that was a way of saying that you're dating in the 80s.

Stan joined a Biker Crew lead by Jimmy Snakes while homeless. I decided make some OC’s to fill in the rest of their crew! You’ll see them in fics of mine, and also some fics of my pal, @eeveelotions

In the Uni Verse, Jimmy Snakes made his deal with a demon at only eight years old. His father got drunk one night and tried to kill both him and his mother. Jimmy got shot, his mother was killed, and his father shot himself soon after. Jim, however, made a deal with a snake demon; He would not only survive getting shot, but he would be given minor demonic powers, in exchange for his patrons demon getting to eat Jim’s soul once he died. Jimmy founded The Flaming Serpents when he met the Pent siblings when he was twenty-two.

Jimmy Snakes is not a nice person in the Uni Verse. He protects his crew and loves them like family, but he’s also super toxic and manipulative towards all of them. He is incredibly selfish and lacks compassion. But he’s powerful, protective, and gives his crew shelter and security; something they probably wouldn’t have otherwise. Everyone in the gang has felt some kind of persecution for who they are as a person, but under Jimmy, nobody can actually stop them from being themselves. There isn’t much somebody can do against you when your gang leader has the powers of a demon.

Stan is the latest member of the gang. Jimmy found him hanging out by a bridge that had been abandoned mid-construction in Flaming Serpent territory. Stanley had recently faced a trauma on the anniversary of him getting kicked out that he didn’t know how to deal with, and he was planning on ending his life. Jimmy thought that Stan was a scout for a rival gang at first and attacked him, but Stan quickly explained his intentions for why he was on the bridge, and Jim left him to his own business, but not before giving him a pen and a notepad, instructing Stan to leave a note to his family, and promising to be back in the morning to collect Stan’s body. After writing a note to Ford, Stan decided not to go through with the suicide.

Jim finds Stan at a diner the next morning, and has a conversation with him, surprised that he didn’t go through with the suicide. He spends the day hanging out with Stan, and, after being impressed by the kids quick wit and sticky fingers, offers Stan a spot in the Flaming Serpents. Stan quickly becomes friends with Alphonse, Luca, Petra, and Jorden, who treat him like family. He tries to avoid James and Kara for reasons I will cover later, and George hates people too much for any kind of friendship to be established.

Stan and Jimmy eventually end up dating, and the relationship is super toxic, with Jimmy gradually becoming more and more abusive. It isn’t good. Jim’s hella possessive, and sees everyone as competition, which leads to him attempting to isolate Stan from his friends. The two fight a lot, mostly over Stan being secretive about himself, or Jim not respecting Stan’s boundaries.

If you’ve seen my Felony Squad content you’ll know of Alphonse LeCult. He actually met Stan from the gang, before the formation of the Felony Squad a few years later. Alphonse is a himbo with a lot of energy, has ADHD, and a Special Interest in pharmacy. He’s been interested in the topic since he was five years old, and would often toddle himself off to the library while his dad was working and read everything about drug and pill production that he could get his hands on. His librarian would let him hide behind her desk so that he could read the books from the Whites section, back before the Civil Rights act was amended. When he was ten his father re-married, and Al gained his older step-brother, Hector. The two became super close, and still are. Al tried to study pharmaceuticals in college, but a combination of racism and homophobia directed towards him by peers and teachers alike lead to him dropping out. He joined the Flaming Serpents when he saw Petra shoplifting pills, and ended up giving her a long, LONG explanation on why she should be stealing a different brand over the one she was trying to take. Al became the regular pill collector for the gang, and they also make use of the fact that his brother is a lawyer, though Hector isn’t too sure about how much he likes his little brothers friends. Al ends up developing a serious crush on Stan, but keeps it under wraps cause Jim would probably murder him if he knew.

Luca is the resident Car Guy. He rides a Chevy rather than a motorbike, and the crew uses his car to transport essential items and such. Luca grew up on the streets of New York City, and developed thick skin and an intolerance for nonsense. He’s a grumpy asshole with a heart of gold, and is often described as a grumpy elderly WW1 veteran placed in the body of a short, stalky 22 year old New Yorker. Jimmy found him trying to steal parts of Kara’s motorbike. He suggested he put the parts back so that she won’t murder him, but offered him a spot in the gang for his mechanical know-how. He is still Kara’s least favorite gang member. His diet consist exclusively of meat, soda, and whiskey. Won’t eat a vegetable to save his life. If you dislike the Yankees (or like the Red Socks) you’re dead to him

Petra is bubbly, friendly, and kind; a sweetheart and a social butterfly. She will also murder you quickly and efficiently and nobody will ever find the body if you give her a reason. She looks like a cinnamon role, but actually can kill you. She joined the gang when Jim saw her take three men (all much more muscular than her) in a knife fight and win. She has complicated relations with her family. They’re still in touch, and they still consider her their own, but they’re not exactly supportive of who she is. She’ll call them on holidays, and is still invited to the pilgrimage her family takes every five or so years. They love her, but they still haven’t accepted her transition. She loves them, but she can’t be around them for too long without feeling dysmorphic and heavily uncomfortable. They do treat her friends well, and are supportive of her relationship with Jorden, (even if they don’t tend to use Jorden’s correct pronouns when referring to them). Both Petra and Stan are the only members of the gang who still practice some traditions from the religion they where raised under, even if they’re both not big on faith as a whole. Petra is widely regarded as the kindest member of the gang. She’s clever and always willing to lend a hand to her friends.

Those who meet Jorden instantly think they’re high on something. Jorden isn’t high on anything, they just have the personality of a five year old who snorts pixie sticks for a living. They have no sense of fashion at all, and likes to dress in the tackiest, most gaudy shit they can find in thrift stores. Like Petra, Jorden is also in contact with their family, though the relationship is a lot more rocky. They show up to Scott family reunions out of a sense of obligation, though they much rather be somewhere they don’t have to listen to their families racist and homophobic chatter. They once tried bringing Petra with them to a reunion for comfort and it went about as well as you think it would. Jorden technically isn’t even welcome in the household; soon as the reunions are over, they get the boot again. Jorden was kicked out of the house after graduating high school, and was mostly on their own. They stole a motorbike from a car lot, and used it to steal other things and make quick get-a-ways. They aren’t sneaky about their thievery, but has good perfect target instincts. They where invited into the gang after Jimmy saw their skills on a moterbike, and they started dating Petra not long after.

If violence was a person, it would be Kara Pent. She’s spent years getting as big as she possibly could so that she can beat the shit out of whoever she wanted. She loves beating up others more than anything, and only takes instructions on who or who not to hurt from Jimmy, and occasionally her brother. She abuses any drug that will help her build muscle, and takes immense satisfaction with how intimidating she is. If she decides to fuck you up, you won’t stand a chance. Nobody in the gang knows why Kara is this way but her brother and Jimmy, and nobody knows why she swore her loyalty to him. She wants to be the kind of fighter that nobody can beat, and she is very much nearly there.

George is there because his sister is there. And that is pretty much it. He hates people; his ideal life would be one of absolute solitude and silence. He minds his own business, and never interferes with anything unless instructed to by Jimmy or sometimes his sister. If something is happening to you, he will not help you. He won’t make things worse either, however. He is neutral to all conflicts, and prefers isolation. He doesn’t like it when people talk to him. If you try talking to him, he’ll respond so harshly you will cry. And he always somehow knows exactly which words to use to make his victim cry. There are no exceptions. The only people allowed to say things to him are Kara or Jimmy, and the only exception to his rule is if somebody is giving instructions to him. He doesn’t want to get to know anyone, and he doesn’t want them to get to know him. Every bit of information about him he keeps to himself. He won’t even eat in front of others, less they find out his favorite food.

James has been fired from several jobs, all of them on sexual harassment charges. He’s a pervert and a creep, and doesn’t seem to be ashamed of this fact. He harasses anyone and everyone he meets, with the acceptation of Jimmy and Kara. He will also do literally anything for money, which the crew takes full advantage of, usually as revenge for him being a creep. James does have a few redeeming qualities. He’s got a good work ethic, and is protective of his gang, even if he is shitty to them. He’s good at getting dirt on others; and was welcomed into the gang by Jimmy after he saw James blackmail and extort the hell out of several rich people.

Thank you sm for letting me chat with you even if its over anon! I've been dying to talk about MHA and S/Is!!!! Mha was a big inspiration for me! It got me back into writing, drawing, and being active on my self shipping page :) I don't ship with anyone in mha but for a while I was really focused on All Might/Toshinori. I really admire him and I enjoy writing angst and battle scenes against AFO involving Toshi(THAT episode tho.. //SOBS)... Like I said I'm a sucker for angst haha. But my focus has gone to Mirio now... I'm just weak for sunshine boys and I think he's such a cool character. I consider him a platonic soulmate <3 He's silly and fun and his quirk animated is so cool!! I'm a complex person with complicated feelings- as is my s/i, so being around the positive bright people makes me really happy :) (and despite her great love for mirio she has extreme beef with Sir Nighteye) for her quirk she can basically convert her own energy into shocks of power but it can only be produced from the palms of her hands. she uses it to boost her own close-combat physical attacks(that was a bad description sorry I'm trying not to go on and on and spam your asks this message is already so long SORRY /Sobs im excited) I love writing fight scenes and anything angsty so my s/i is all in for combat. But since her quirk takes energy it makes her tired quickly- she can't handle long dragged out battles. Sleep helps her recover <3

A good friend of hers is Aizawa even though they buttheads a lot, he helped get her a small job at the UA. she helps with combat training every few days a week :) (gosh sorry again for the long message I tried to keep it vague) (i feel like im exposing myself a little with this ask but I NEED to talk mha so badly)

Im also SUPER curious about your beef with Sir Nighteye 👀 he's so attached to Mirio, I love that his whole problem with Midoriya is "why did HE get to inherit OFA, what's wrong with MY boy? >:/" but barring that, I love seeing how he's actually very intelligent in other ways and I'm excited to see him in future arcs!

And about your s/i, I adore her already!! She sounds so fun, and her quirk sounds super cool and useful! Have you considered getting her any gear or anything to help her concentrate her energy blasts, or perhaps direct them in other ways she might not be able to by herself? :0 how long has she been a pro? anon. first of all. i lov e you. thank you. thank you so much SO........ a few hcs i have of him:

has huge himbo energy. only has 1 braincell. someone described him as having a windows screensaver bouncing around in his mind at all times. has the wii menu music playing in his head. there is just nothing going on in there.

doesnt tend to like a lot of video games but he did fall prey to the FNAF and minecraft trends. addicted to FNAF theories and lore but he only watches and consumes from all the wrong sources and none of his theories make ANY sense but will defend them rabidly

i think he’s kind of a lonely kid deep down. *craves* attention. probably dealing with grief he doesn’t fully understand and will seek attention from anyone who will give it to him (hence his addiction to going to raisins and becoming narcissistic in the list)

he is very sensitive and easily hurt and frightened. he loves to be comforted by his friends whether it be words of encouragement or touch (he loves hugs)

not a HC but canonical information that’s SO important - he is the BEST at giving hugs.

my general thoughts on him? i just think he’s neat. he’s got a good sense of morals, he’s not afraid to stand up for his friends, but yet he can also be really mean and selfish sometimes and i like the complexity of that. he also just seems to be really sweet, like the kind of person you could talk to about anything and he’d listen (though he’d be awful at giving advice, but he’d still try!) overall he’s just really cute! he’s got a lot of cute details and habits even if he’s just in the background of a scene (did you all know he’s a tummy sleeper. how goddamn adorable is that) and idk! i just like him a lot!!!!! id like to see more episodes of his dynamic with craig, they’re clearly good (maybe best) friends, but it’s something that i hope gets explored before SP eventually ends.

So many. So so many. You would not believe the amount of scrapped or unfinished pieces that I've got in my drafts. Definitely more than what has been posted here for SURE.

Yeah, I'm fairly open about it with my closest friends (who do like to clown on me for being a genshin impact fan and an anime boy enjoyer etc etc (all in good fun tho)) though I wouldn't tell them the name of my blog. My boyfriend knows of course, he often gets early admission to ideas and brainrots and drafts and access to the fics I'd never post online :3

💖 What made you start writing?

Not a point of bragging but I've always had a bit of a knack for writing, so as I began to fall behind in other subjects I kind of threw myself more into writing - a lot of it came about for coping reasons, just me seeking to make things that could comfort me when I was feeling down, ways to get certain ideas to stop rolling around in my head so much, or even ways to help me process things I was going through at big times in my life (even if I didn't realise it at the time - there are some fics I go back and read and realise ive unintentionally been mirroring real life things that were happening to me during that time).

I also am just a sort of. creative person in general, I do a lot of visual art but I find it takes a lot of spoons and mental energy that I just don't always have - I've been slowly learning to take more pride in my writing and the way it has improved over the years - sometimes I struggle to see my own writing as a 'valid' piece of art because I just... I find it almost... easy, if that makes sense? It takes less spoons and often feels like less thought so my brain kind of goes "ah yes I'm somehow cheating at this" and refuses to see it as a Real Piece of Media I Created. But I've been getting better!! So yeah I think I've always been a bit of a writer but I only really started getting into it around high school, and I only started posting it online super recently (this blog is the first time ive ever shared my writing with a wider audience!)

sorry for the mostly offtopic ramble aha im a little all over the place rn but yeah !! this was an interesting subject to think about ty <3

❌ What's a trope you will never write?

Honestly? There's genuinely not much i won't write. If I can find a way to spin it that'll get the brain juice flowing, I'm set. There are certain things I'd write that I'd never post, but that's a different kettle of fish entirely (thats such a strange phrase to me jkahsfd)

🤩 Who is your favorite character to write?

Childe and Itto are SO Fun to write, Childe for his general unhinged-ness, and Itto for his dialogue and himbo tendencies !! I'm enjoying writing Diavolo from om! for the same reasons honestly.

🎉 What leads you to consider a fic a success?

I like to clown to my bf about the notes and numbers and the like, like I'll say things like "oh damn tumblr is thirsty for diluc and not itto, how sad" but honestly numbers aren't something that phase me much - i think there are a few different aspects in which I feel like a fic of mine can be successful

The writing process - If i had fun writing it, thinking about it, and/or feel better/lighter for having written it, then it's a success in that aspect

Feedback - i try not to let too much hinge on this since it's such a finicky aspect but like. If i get positive feedback and comments on a piece, rest assured I've read every one about three times over. It makes me so happy to see others engage in my content, and to have people say things like "i needed this today" or "this made me smile" means more than any of you will ever ever know - writing is a source of comfort to me, and the fact that i'm able to share it and bring comfort to others as well is just. it makes me so so happy.

⌛ How long does it take you to write a fic, or a chapter?

Really depends on the inspiration level and how I'm rotating the ideas around in my brain - some pieces I can get the idea, then have it started and finished within one sitting, others I need some time to kind of sit on before a scenario comes to me. If it's something I'm particularly inspired for I can reach well over 1k words an hour. I don't really edit or proofread the pieces I post either, I just hit send and hope for the best (I've definitely come back to a piece weeks later to realise there's been a typo in it the whole time, oops)

mikey would be the one who wants to be pampered by you all the time. always asking for piggy-back rides/asking you to carry him, basically clinging to you everytime he’s with you. you're basically the new draken once you start dating lmao he isn’t scared of pda at all so expect a lot of that too especially when you’re the one being intimate in public. he’s not the type to get embarrassed easily but when it’s with you..oh boy..just grab his wrist and pull him into a hug and he’s already red as hell (the others will tease him if they see you especially draken and baji). he likes how intimidating you're to other people but also gets jealous when you get way too much attention lol if anyone looks at mikey in a bad way you just glare at them and they're already walking away in fear. loves it when you take him out to eat to your fav place and actually falls asleep on you. everyone in the gang who doesn't know you is actually really scared of you but it changes once you brought food to a meeting. (everyone loved it)

he thinks you're really cool when you fight and actually looks up to you in a way. when he sees you fighting it gives him so much energy that he's next to you in a second throwing punches as well. he loves it when after a fight with another gang you're all over him checking him for any injuries and taking care of him if he got hurt. (he deserves all the love tbh:(<3) he will fake being hurt just to be carried.

souya:

i think he's a very shy person when he's with you especially at the beginning of your relationship. the same as mikey, he's the youngest sibling and he loves to be pampered but doesn't really show it. grab his hand in public and he's gonna be a shy blabbering mess, he doesn't know where to look or what to say he's so embarrassed😭 nahoya will make fun of him if he catches you two and souya's face gets even more red if that's possible and since he's too shy to hold hands he just follows you around like a puppy or just holds your pinkie. your reputation comes in handy since i feel like he's not really a social person and hates being at the center of attention, so people usually stay away from you.

he absolutely adores how strong you're and thinks you're amazing and would love to have you teach him some moves! secretly loves it but pretends to be annoyed when you just show up at his house and take him for a ride not taking no as an answer. hug him from behind when you're in private and he will melt.

mitsuya:

now for the love of god please take this boy to your house at the weekends for a day long cuddling session cuz he needs. a. break. don't get me wrong he loves his sisters more than anything but he really needs someone to look after him too. (and that's why you're here) loves to go shopping with you for fabrics and going out to eat to a nearby restaurant that you choose everytime. not gonna lie he was scared shitless when he first met you but that image of you quickly shattered when you used a corny pick-up line on him when he bumped into you and yeah you've been dating ever since lmao the first time he took you home his sisters were hiding at his legs and the next second you showed them the stuffed toys you bought them they were all over you. luna and mana loves you sm tbh you always bring them candy (without mitsuya knowing ofc) and they just love the headpats you give them. once he was in the kitchen preparing dinner for you guys (you were sleeping over) and found you and his sisters on top of you sleeping on the floor, he took a polaroid of you and has it hanged up in his room.

he loves how you're more than capable of protecting yourself and actually wants you to teach him so he can get stronger. even though he knows you're strong he still worries but when you just flash him your stupid smile it all goes away. (he also blushed but looked away.)

nahoya:

i just know he would show you off to everyone. he's so proud of you and he wants everyone to know how amazing you are:( also i feel like he would use you to treathen people?? "do you have any idea who my boyfriend is? don't make me tell him to-" you would have to cover his mouth in embrassement and apologize to the poor guy who accidentally bumped into smiley and made him fall. i like to imagine that he's clingy as hell, especially when you're around others. you can't get him off of you because he constantly wants to hold your hands, ask for headpats maybe even climb on your back and clinge to you like a koala. (please do give him headpats he will melt on the spot). he just wants to show off his love for you to the others:(

his poor brother was literally shitting his pants when you first joined the gang, meanwhile nahoya was basically all over you, asking things like "where did you learn to fight?","can you teach me some moves??", basically smiley being the social butterfly he is.

he's overall so so proud of you and looks up at you so much. he loves how you're independent and that you can protect yourself and others, it makes him feel at ease!

baji:

to be honest he didn't like you at the start when he met you. he imagined you as a person full of himself because he's stronger than others. he was really avoidant of you, maybe even suspicious that you want something from the gang. but when he saw you play with some kittens at his usual spot where he was feeding the stray cats?? oh boy that man literally fell in love with you, he just didn't want to admit it yet. from that day you two would usually go and hang out around that spot, just talking about meaninlgess things and playing with the kittens. and when you planned a cat cafe date with him as your first one, he never thought he can fall even harder for you.

i like to imagine that when baji does something stupid the gang is calling you immediately, half of them already has your number saved just in case 💀. he hates to admit it but he loves pda, he's just too shy to ask for it and likes to play the though guy. but when you take his hand in your's around the others?? he would be a stuttering and blushing mess.

he thinks you're the coolest person he ever met, even if he had his doubts in the beginning. you're like his role model, he always tells you how you take out the best of him. i feel like he has a hard time showing his emotions, but he loves you and is really proud of you!:)
