#yuan ti pure blood

Note
Imagine yandere jing yuan with a shrine maiden reader.
Tw. Noncon, virgin reader, blood mention,
(do they exist in the hsr world? Maybe not but just imagine)
Her parents teach her to not have intercourse until marriage and then that all turns around when she meets jing yuan. He'd slowly persuade and coax her into giving herself up. Maybe at night he fucks her in her sleep? Once you get close to him that's his time set strike. He's a regular visitor at your shrine but only when your parents are away. The white kosode showing off your hardened nipples. Could you even be pure with no bra underneath?
Time skip to where jing yuan asks you to stay with him and become his spouse or concubine. You refused which made him fume inside but he kept his calm smile(if you looked closer you could see it twitching. You've been friends for months now, why don't you just live with him?!) You turned your back and something hard hit your head, causing you to fall on the wooden floor of the shrine.
Another time skip to where you are tied up in the generals bed. You are blindfolded and muffled as well. Tears soaked through the fabric of the blindfold. You hear boots coming toward the room you are in. The squeaky door opens then closes back meaning someone is in the room or just checking on you. The general steps towards the bed, hovering over you. He knows you are a very pure girl. He can easily break you with just his fingers. His ears perked up at your whimpering. He wants to fuck you without any restriction blocking your cute little noises.
He climbs on top of you and takes off your top, revealing your hardened nipples. He played with your tits and you began to squirm in his grasp, desperately trying to get home but(and maybe report him but that wont happen since you were tied up). He reached his hand up to remove the blindfold from your eyes. Your eyes were red and puffy from your tears. He looked at you with a smile and slightly squinted eyes. “I'll take this off your face if you don't scream and just let me hear your moans.” he pointed at the cloth muffling your mouth. You nodded hesitantly, just wanting to go through the generals wrath.
His hands traveled down and ripped your hakama and threw it somewhere on the side.
Slick covered your thighs. She must like me by how drenched she is jing yuan thinks. He pressed his index finger by your entrance and played with your clit through your soaked panties.
He freed his hard cock from his pants, it bumped against your cunt and made you yelp and whimper. He just wanted to push himself into you and just hear you scream but it'll have to come later.
His finger played with your clit and fingered your pussy. He added a second finger which made you throw your head back against the pillow. Your juices cover his hand whole.
You came for the nth time as you lost track of how many times you came on his fingers. He rubbed himself over your cunt, drenching his dick in your slick. He used two fingers to stretch open your pussy so his cock would have more space to wiggle in.
The stretch was a burning feeling.
You grasped at the pillows beneath your head. Your hair was sprayed all over the bed and pillows behind you. After a while, he fully sunk himself inside you, right where he belonged.
You were panting and whimpering which made him grow bigger inside you(idk how but its writers logic). Tears drove down your face, he grasped at your thighs and placed them over his shoulders. He moved slowly in and and out of you in a fine speed. Red stained the sheets beneath you due to him.
Another quick time skip later his pace was faster, bumping into your cervix occasionally with every thrust forward. You and his cum was sprayed on the bed, his dick, and your body. Sweat became more apparent as he grabbed your thighs and pressed you into a mating press, your puffy red cunt clenching around his thick member. Your open mouth panting signaled your upcoming release. You closed your eyes but couldn't cover your mouth due to jing yuan pinning them down. You came for the nth time but instead of his fingers it was on his dick.
You passed out and your bangs were sticking to your forehead, covering most of your face(if you have short bangs then it sticks to your forehead due to sweat). You looked so beautiful like this. He pressed kisses on your face as he laid beside you, hugging you close to him, afraid to let you go.
He was glad to have you now, this could've been avoided if you didn't refuse...
(im very horny for inexperienced reader for some reason)
Sorry nonny!! Even though everyone voted for this in the previous poll, I clicked on this post countless times and was amazed by it and wanted to write something about it. But you wrote it very completely, and I've been thinking about what I could add.
Hmm, Jing Yuan wants to be sweet to you. You've been friends for a few months… why can't you… take it a step further? He even has a ring and an engagement balloon and spaceship for it! He's not going to be violent with you or anything, so he's probably going to offer you some special drinks!! He's going to take your virginity completely - completely. Including your mouth, nipples…even every hole. The cream squirts and fills you inside as Jing Yuan feels your insides twitch and contract around his thick cock.
Afterwards you will be temporarily locked in the General's Mansion…don't worry, this isn't permanent. Once the engagement is over, you can go out freely <3

Okay hello besties I am new to Tumblr but my Tumblr friends are urging me to post my Luocha madness so here’s a strange little theory I have?
Okay so one of the mysteries of the guy is the weird connection he has to Yaoshi. I personally believe Luocha is an Emanator.
In the Data Bank, this is the section it has on Emanataors:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To summarize ig, Emanators are basically an Aeon’s Special Little Guy, their Poor Little Meow Meow if you will, and they open direct access to their power to this chosen person.
In the cutscene, Jing Yuan calls Luocha an “Abomination of Yaoshi” which is very similar to the term “Abomination of Abundance” which is typically used to refer to those afflicted with Mara.
Tumblr media
Luocha responds in an interesting way by saying his power stems directly from Yaoshi
Tumblr media
This would make sense if he’s an Emanator of the Abundance, as it explain how he has this direct connection to Yaoshi. This blessing could very well be the reason he wants to kill Yaoshi.
Tumblr media
His second Eidolon also is named “Bestowal From the Pure” which could reference his power being "bestowed" on him from a "pure being" (Aeon).
We also know his power is strong for those who follow the Abundance because he healed Xueyi who's body isn't flesh and blood.
This isn't even taking into account its relations to his Jesus parallels. Whenever he heals he uses his rosary as a vessel for the healing implying his healing is related to a higher power/connection to a god aka Yaoshi.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We also have these Eidolons and Trace that reference biblical concepts, Ablution of the Quick has biblical ties as ablution is washing all of or parts of one's body usually in a religious rite which Jesus partakes in in the Bible, Reunion With the Dust referencing the whole "from dust you came and to dust you shall return" verse in Genesis 3:19, and Heavy Lies the Crown which references Jesus's crown of thorns. Sanctified means to declare as holy. Jesus is also a figure who died and came back to life, very in line with Yaoshi and the Mara. I dont really know if that implies Luocha is undead in some way but that's another theory for another day. Honestly I could go on for days about his catholic symbolism but I'll leave that analysis for another post.
There has been a confirmed Emanator of Abundance in the lore and it was Shuhu and he was mentioned in before and during Jingliu's companion quest but I think there can be multiple Emanators (Phantylia is not Nanook's only Emanator if I recall correctly) and also the lore from Jingliu's quest is iffy due to the writer being The Worse so I reference any lore drops from it with a grain of salt.
Also to address: I don't play HI3 and i've done some digging into Otto and I know some of his stuff is direct references to Otto. I apologize if any of my evidence is just another Otto thing I missed.
Anyways hope this is coherent, these are just my thoughts and I love analysis and discussion! Have a lovely day! Mwah!

I'm just reminded of my first DnD character that I made and the crazy run I had with him and with a odd cannibalistic Halfling, defeated a Mind Flayer. By throwing our daggers wrapped with the Amulet Of Pure Good at it haha.
I made a Pure Blood Yaun-Ti Bard named Azar who has Plutomania, loves to gamble (Cheating of course), and to seduce and manipulate information/items off of others. He was raised by a group of traveling Merchants/Entertainers.
The Halfling was a Rogue simply named.. well Rogue. For the life of me, I can't remember what happened to him, but he's pretty much feral. Has his teeth sharped, bites people just because, doesn't really speak but will use very few words when he does. Hell, he spent most of his money on only Daggers one time and filled his backpack with 20+ of them.
Somehow these two ended up being really close together. It probably started when Rogue randomly bit one of our members and Azar not wanting to get a scar, threatened to Rogue that he will bite him back if he tried. (You know cus he has fangs and venom) I guess this was just a marriage proposal to Rogue and he latched on him. While traveling, Rogue would want to ride on Azar's shoulders. If Azar wanted a bath, he took at a bath with him. If he wanted to sleep, he would join him. As flirtatious as Azar is, he didn't know how to react to Rogue's firm decision that they were now a couple. Heck, it took him a while to realize that he really likes him and cares for him. I just find it hilarious that a beautiful, flamboyant Yuan-Ti got snatched up by a feral, zero charisma bity boy Halfling.

some fun facts about darius / info broker that i can now say since it's post campaign (owch, still hurts)
he has lost two friends and a blood brother in the span of 30 seconds at the end of the last battle -- the guardian of madness, jesty; the guardian of life and death, spirits, his best friend; and his blood brother, his brother in arms, knave. it... will never really be the same without them. and some days it is impossible to move from bed.
he is your dad (he's your dad! boogie woogie woogie)
in his mortal form, he is in the colors scheme of white, rose gold, pure gold, silver - gray and black. his mortal form's single pair of wings are (from top to tips) gold to rose gold to white to teal to deep blue. hes gay for his husband. thats basically his wedding ring.
verse note: there will not be a second verse where darius / broker dates someone else or engages another god, as i do not see him falling in love with anyone else. thus he is exclusive to his main verse, and his husband, karagor, primordial of space, second born of the cosmos, dimensional shop owner.
if he adopts you, theres no escape, if someone upsets you, they stop existing, and now you have two brothers, rudeus (a tiefling boy) and caster (a yuan-ti - water genasi boy), and a sibling-in-law, zephyr (an air genasi)
he doesnt have his main rapier, paracosm anymore, but his other old friend, an emissary of the faeries, an nigh-almost god of the faerie realms, had designed a new godly artifact in replacement of it. he has yet to name it, thus give it its power, but it is created by bladesmiths of both kings, queens, and master artisans of fae and elven courts blended with deific energy from the emissary.

QianQiu/Thousand Autumns Fic: In which gang leader!YWS and school teacher!SQ falls in love.
Title: You’re a Problem I Encounter Fandom: Qian Qiu / Thousand Autumns Characters/Ships: YanShen Rating: NSFW eventually Chapter: 1/? Summary: Yan Wushi was the proud leader of Huan Yue Group, one of the most influential syndicates in the underground world, who wanted nothing more than to see the world burn. His accidental encounter with the pure-hearted school teacher Shen Qiao was a problem he didn’t expect to get entangled in. A/N: A syndicate!AU that literally nobody asks for. It’s also been awhile since I last wrote a fic, so please excuse awkward/bad writing. Sobs. List of Chapters: [1] [2] [3]
-
i. First Encounter
“Tie the pretty boy up nice and tight,” Sang Jingxing ordered his subordinates in a lazy drawl, his face half hidden in the shadow of the poorly lit room, but even the darkness couldn’t conceal the cruel smile crawling along the lips of the deputy leader of He Huan Group. As he stepped away from the wall and began walking towards his captive, his grin widening when he saw how much of a mess his men had made of the young man, his foot crushed the discarded glasses that’d been knocked off the man’s face during the brief but vicious fight.
There were no windows, just a lone, bare lightbulb swinging back and forth from the ceiling casting a meager glow of light in the underground chamber.
Glancing down at the half-conscious man bound at the wrists behind his back, Sang Jingxing grabbed a fistful of his hair and forced his neck to crane back.
“We don’t want you running back to your daddy so soon again, do we?”
The only response he received was a pained groan. A sound that sent trills of excitement down Sang Jingxing’s back.
It had taken four trained men to finally take Shen Qiao down. By the time the scuffle ended, Xiao Se had an impressive bruise on his right cheek, Yan Shou had bloodied scratches along one of his arms, Huo Xijing had been elbowed directly in the solar plexus and was still recovering on the ground, and Bai Rong was smart enough to retreat just after receiving a blow that barely missed her eyes.
After a valiant attempt at escaping, Shen Qiao was no match for the sheer number of guards Sang Jingxing had assigned to keep him under surveillance in the end.
“At least not before we get what we want, isn’t that right, my dear?” Sang Jingxing turned towards the woman with an overly saccharine smile.
Yuan Xiuxiu rolled her eyes at her partner’s theatrics, but after working and managing He Huan Group together for so many years, she was used to his antics by now, so she merely ran a hand through her wavy hair and replied, “I don’t care what you do with the boy – torture him, fuck him – do whatever you want. Just don’t go overboard. We still need him alive if we were to negotiate with Qi Fengge.”
“Whatever you say, dear,” Sang Jingxing said to Yuan Xiuxiu’s retreating back as the leader of He Huan Group slammed the cell door shut behind her without another word.
There were no windows, just a lone, bare lightbulb swinging back and forth from the ceiling casting a meager glow of light in the underground chamber.
“Ah… Shen Qiao. Do you know how much of a pain in the ass it was to steal you away under Qing Fengge’s nose?” he’d released his grip on Shen Qiao’s hair, and his head lolled forward like a broken, ragged doll. Blood streaks on his face made his complexion more pallid, and the only sign that he was still breathing was the shallow rise and fall of his chest.
Sang Jingxing continued, circling his captured prey like a hawk. “I get that you’re his adopted son, but you aren’t even meant to be his successor, so why does he spent so much of his resources on protecting you?”
He wasn’t really expecting an answer, but he wanted to have fun with the boy first before he dived straight into business. With a leering, animalistic gleam in his eye, Sang Jingxing reached out towards Shen Qiao’s bruised face, thumb roughly brushing against the man’s lower lip as he tried to force his finger past the seam of his lips.
Though Shen Qiao was in no shape to fight back, he was not a man who surrendered as long as a drop of strength still remained inside him. He twisted away from his captor’s hand and swiftly angled his head to bite Sang Jingxing’s finger with a snarl, hazel eyes bloodshot from what little adrenaline still lingered in his system during the fight.
Sang Jingxing hissed in pain, fury flashing across his eyes as he yanked his hand back, and Shen Qiao felt a sharp blow across his cheek just a short second later. Taste of iron flooded in his mouth.
“Playing hard-to-get is cute the first time around,” Sang Jingxing muttered while inspecting the teeth marks Shen Qiao had inflicted on him, before he put his hand on Shen Qiao once more, “but I don’t have that much patience, even for a beauty like you.”
He wrapped his fingers around Shen Qiao’s neck and started to squeeze with real intent to hurt.
“Yan Wushi, how did you—!” Yuan Xiuxiu’s muffled high-pitched exclaim transmitted through the thin walls of the basement and was interrupted by a distressed scream.
Before Sang Jingxing could react or shout for backup, he heard the men who were stationed outside the cell yelped in surprise and agony, and two successive bodily thuds later, the cell door was busted open.
Two men strode in with confident steps. The one leading had a cold, lethal look to his maroon eyes, the streak of star-silver locks a stark contrast to his otherwise dark, slicked back hair. In between his index and middle fingers was a small silver blade, still dripping with fresh blood of his latest victims; he wiped the blood off with a clean handkerchief that the younger man standing just half a step behind him handed him with the kind of easy elegance that one couldn’t simply mimic.
“Sang Jingxing, has He Huan Group lost so much money these days that you can’t even afford decent guards anymore?” the older man sneered.
“Leader Yan,” the utter of the respectful title was pleasant enough, but they’d been rivals long enough to know that there was no amiability in this exchange, “what’s the meaning of this?”
“I heard you got yourself a new plaything,” Yan Wushi said, glancing over at the barely conscious Shen Qiao with one of his eyebrows raised, “is that him?”
“What is it to you?” Sang Jingxing asked, narrowing his eyes. His flexed his fingers instinctively, his muscles taut and itching to reach for the revolver tucked inside his suit jacket. If anything, at least he was certain that the bullet would find its target faster than Yan Wushi could cause any real damage with his infamous silver blade. It had been awhile since they last confronted each other face to face like this, but Sang Jingxing could never forget the scars and humiliation of defeat from their last meeting.
“Oh, calm down,” Yan Wushi chuckled, the other man’s subtle signs to initiate the first attack all too obvious under his trained observation, “I’m not here to pick a fight, unless you’ve already forgotten what that was like the last time that happened.”
Sang Jingxing pressed his lips tight, silent anger threatening to boil over in the form of whipping out his revolver and pulling the trigger, but he didn’t dare — not when he knew he’d already lost. The fear of losing once again to this man – this monster – was simmering at the back of his mind, and he had a feeling that he wouldn’t be able to get away with just a long, ugly cut along his back this time.
“That’s what I thought,” the corner of Yan Wushi’s lips curved up slightly into a cold smile, “let’s not waste any time here. I’ll take what I want, and then we’ll each go our separate ways, hmm?”
“Yu Shengyan,” the leader of Huan Yue Group commanded his assistant with a nod towards the bloodied man still tied up in the chair a few steps away from them. Without further instructions, Yu Shengyan quickly ran over to Shen Qiao and started to cut the ropes loose. With practiced swipes of his switchblade, it took him only a short moment before he freed Shen Qiao.
At this point, Shen Qiao had already completely fainted, and when released from his restraints, he fell forward limply into Yu Shengyan’s arms.
“What do you want with Qi Fengge’s kid anyway?” Sang Jingxing asked. Though he’d given up on trying to keep Shen Qiao in his possession, curiosity still got the best of him.
“Wouldn’t you like to know?” Yan Wushi only said with a laugh.
Carrying Shen Qiao on his back, Yu Shengyan followed his master out of the dank basement cell, thrilled that he got to witness Yan Wushi scaring the shit out of Sang Jingxing and his minions, but mostly confused about the purpose of this confrontation. He didn’t know what to expect when Yan Wushi had suddenly ordered him to come to He Huan Group’s headquarters. To be honest, the young assistant had been half-expecting the gang leader to start a bloodshed for one reason or another — after all, it wouldn’t have been the first time Yan Wushi went off the rails due to the most miniscule of reasons — but he’d never thought they’d be rescuing a stranger.
They were rescuing him, right? Yu Shengyan was hesitant as he carefully placed the unconscious man into the back of the car before slipping into the driver’s seat. Glancing over at his master out of the corner of his eye, the young man almost felt sorry for Shen Qiao, for he recognized that particular look on Yan Wushi’s face.
It probably would not bode well for the man still unaware of what he’d gotten himself into by getting accidentally entangled into Yan Wushi’s life.

Torn Realm “Cast”
I’m realizing that, after over a year of running these campaigns, that I never made a roster for the parties!
There are two groups in the same setting that play on alternating Sundays. We had a crossover set of sessions last December where they got to interact and meet, as well as some instances where one of the other group “guests” as a player for a bit to help them with a specific quest.
It gets a bit long, since one party’s had some REALLY bad luck. (One player, actually. I killed her characters twice. Sorry Rose.) So I’m sticking it under a read more!

Hello, everyone!
This week I've made a dining room! The room is quite large, and it's able to accommodate a large number of people. Good for having royal banquets!
You'll also find a large fireplace near the top, the host can order to burn some unruly players there if they get on their nerves. Ouch.
The creature tokens for this week are a King, an Ultroloth and a Yuan-ti Pure Blood. Emerald gets the King while Diamond gets all three.
You can see a preview of all of this week’s Patreon content here.
Thank you very much for taking a look and be sure to check out my Patreon where you can pledge for gridless version, alternate map versions as well as the tokens pertaining to this map.

TSB rewrites the Yuan-Ti a bit
-Bath Culture exists because of the Yuan-Ti. Many (not even many, it’s all. ALL) Yuan-Ti Cities and village settlements usually have bath houses near where travelers enter. Non-Yuan-Ti are not allowed into the city or village until they bathe. You smell like piss and blood, you may not be able to smell it, but we can and it’s terrible, you’re getting a bath or no entry.
-One of the Yuan-Ti biggest import is perfumes. They are master perfume makers, creating fragrant blends and bouquets of scents that could even smother the smell of a rotting corpse. These perfumes although they can be cheaply bought from the Yuan-Ti themselves is sold imported at an extravagant price.
-Running up exports are other beauty care items, domesticated birds and art. Yuan-Ti are well known for their advancement in skin care as their own skin is very fickle. Some people claim that the Yuan-Ti can reverse the ravages of time itself with these items and again is a very expensive exported item. Domestic birds are a given as Yuan-Ti love to implement eggs in everything they eat as well as bird meat and occasionally rat.
-There is a concerning ‘purity marriage’ in the culture, where Yuan-Ti are often arranged to partner with another prechosen ‘suitable’ Yuan-Ti and be expected to produce offspring to get the whole race closer to the ‘ideal form’ (which is as snakey as possible). To them, it’s just like your Aunt Sarah inconvenience trying to set you up with ‘a nice boy from church’ and you eventually cave in just to make her happy and shut her up for a bit. To Outsiders, it’s much more concerning since the result if one of them chickens out of the ‘partnership’ or can’t consummate the relationship for some reason, that Yuan-Ti will be expected to become a Servant and become a very low snake on the totem pole so to speak on parr with Yuan-Ti Pure Bloods.
-Pure bloods are often allowed to do whatever they please provided it doesn’t ‘interfere with the affairs of their betters’ This ranges from the paths they want to take in life to who they want to have children with. Despite being low in the system, the Pure bloods have freedom of their bodies and the freedom of choice and that is something many other Yuan-Ti look on with envy at times.
-In other words, if you see a Pure Blood Yuan-Ti in a royal court or preforming some work high in the political sphere-it’s not that they want control of the country, they’re probably just doing what they actually want to do which is whatever they want and this just happens to be THAT.
-Yuan-ti have a strange love hate with the Purebloods of the culture. On one hand, they are not what the Yuan-Ti faith and philosophy strives for physically. They are failures and defective, they are just not SNAKEY enough. On the other hand, they have agency over their own life because nobody is pushing these high expectations on them. It’s very much a sort of prince and the pauper. “Oh to have freedom and agency over my life.” “Oh to fucking not be SPIT on by my neighbors....”
-Traditional Yuan-Ti clothing isn’t really used to cover up shameful bits (since the more intimate parts are already concealed inwardly) but rather to show off wealth and status. The fabrics are very light and airy and gold is frequently and heavily implemented. Often golden bands on the wrists are to imply marriage and they are not to be bothered by other Yuan-Ti trying to set each other up. Fancier Marriage Bands will be worn by both partners and will make a pleasant tone if clanked together unlike regular metal that makes ugly clanging noise when banged together.
-Yuan-Ti often get married after they ‘consumate’ and produce suitable snakelings to add to society. It’s considered to be a great privilege to be able to get married (alibiet again it’s someone pre-picked out, but the groom/bride usually gets to have a little more say in the whole process.) Unfortunately, not all ‘consummations’ have hit results despite the best efforts of the Religious Leaders and Elders setting these things up (oh genetics) and many Yuan-Ti have to endure years after years of emotionally empty sexual relationships for the sole purpose of having children. This ironically makes many Yuan-Ti very socially distant, cold and unfeeling to outsiders view. It’s not them being emotionless and dead inside-they’re just rather jaded to the point where putting emotional effort into anything is just too much anymore.
-Naga-esque Yuan-Ti sleep in specially designed beds very similar to baskets. Most chairs are also basket shaped to allow the Yuan-Ti Naga to coil themselves up in there comfortably.
-Yuan-Ti will shed about 3-6 times a year depending on size and age. This is often inconveniencing to PureBloods as it’s much like trying scratch off the end result of a bad bad sunburn while Abomination Yuan-Ti often get to peel off their shed with no more difficultly than taking of a sock....made of skin.
-It is also why bath culture is so big to Yuan-Ti. Soaking in hot water helps the shedding process and relieves itchies and many products they make help encourage the shed process to go faster.
-Yuan-Ti are often known for milking the venom from their mouths and selling as a deadly poison. They also ironically have learned to reverse engineer their venom into a potent anti-venom. However, this does cost twice as much. The more cat like pupils a Yuan-Ti has, the more deadly the poison. Often Yuan-Ti with very rounded pupils are not very venomous and their poison possibly will just make you rashy for a bit. Yuan-Ti will often nip at each other affectionately; the venom does not bother them as they are immune.

Chapter 54: How Sui Zhou Ends Up Managing Tang Fan’s Salary (& How Tang Fan Lets Him)
Context: After the events of the case in the previous chapter, the case is wrapped up properly. While the White Lotus Sect is still in the wind, it was revealed that the Nan Cheng Bang’s case is connected to Wan Tong (Royal Consort Wan’s brother and Sui Zhou’s superior) and the man is punished (lightly). Wang Zhi is praised by the emperor for handling this well, but Consort Wan chides him for not protecting/helping Wan Tong.
On the other hand, even though Tang Fan contributed the most to this case, he does not get rewarded (because the emperor is not fond of him), while Sui Zhou is promoted for his part in solving the case.
Embarrassed, Tang-daren says, “We’re not even halfway through the month yet, but my salary is almost gone.”
So that’s what it is. Sui Zhou is a little speechless, and the tension on his cold face is palpable.
“… where did your money go?”
Introduction Post | Masterpost
Highlights under the cut
Originally, Deng Xiu Cai would have had to go through a ‘waist cut’ penalty, but because he was frank and honest, an exception was made for him to first die by ingesting poison. A suicide void of pain, and they would behead him after. A waist cut is incomparably excruciating, so in order to die comfortably, Deng Xiu Cai spared no effort in spilling everything he knew.
Before Ah Dong and the children, who knew how many other children landed in their hands? Even that puppet Ding Yi Mu was also heavily involved. No one knows how much fresh blood stains their hands, so it is hardly a travesty that these people are put to death.
Everyone’s efforts as they busied themselves working through most of the night were not in vain, and the case finally came to a close. They can almost call this a perfect ending.
Throughout this whole case, aside from those injured in the battle against the members of the Nan Cheng Bang, the person who was injured the most is definitely Tang Fan.
He was first knocked out with a wooden stick to the head and it was verified after, that he did bleed from that. Then, when his hands were restrained back in the cellar, he bled then too, and after that, Xin Shi Tou shoved him once. His hands were still tied then and he was unable to move, so his knees immediately suffered from abrasions as they bruised and bled, and then he was cut by the porcelain piece on his neck and more…
Although not severe, Tang Fan can be considered as marred with injuries all over his whole body. Thankfully, he was injured on the job and thus, Tang-daren is able to request for half a month’s worth of medical leave with a peace of mind, and also help Sui Zhou to celebrate in this time.
Yes, Sui Zhou has been promoted yet again.
This time, however, is purely an accident.
After heading to Jiang Xi previously to deal with the Huang Jing Long case, Sui Zhou was already promoted to fu-qianhu and technically would not be eligible for any promotions in the short term, but due to the missing children’s case and with the Emperor upset at Wan Tong for colluding with the bandits, he invited Yuan Bin back to lead the Embroidered Uniform Guards.
And Yuan Bin’s background - His meritorious contributions include saving the Emperor, and the person he saved was the previous Emperor.
That year of Tu Mu’s Rebellion, Yuan Bin accompanied the Emperor, protecting Ying Zong. He was even caught hostage together with Ying Zong and took care of him. The both of them went through so much hardship and thus, their relationship was not like that of the relationship between the Emperor and other officials. Afterwards, Yuan Bin helped the previous Emperor to regain the throne, and thus, can be considered to have made major contributions.
Due to this history, when today’s Emperor ascended to the throne, he too, treats Yuan Bin with immense respect. The only thing is that as Yuan Bin grows older, he no longer handles any actual tasks and was the Commander of the Embroidered Uniform Guards in name only. This time however, the Emperor intends to teach Wan Tong a lesson, and thus invited Yuan Bin to return to his former post.
With Yuan Bin’s accolades and reputation, even the Emperor of today needs to show him some respect. This is something that Wan Tong, this cheap relative, will never be able to amount to no matter how much he tries to flatter his way into the Emperor’s good graces.
These years, because of Wan Tong, the Embroidered Uniform Guards is now a place rife with corruption where despicable men can do as they like. Those who pander to Wan Tong will be able to become the Wan family’s important and esteemed guests, while those who oppose him, Wan Tong uses the power he has in the Embroidered Uniform Guards to pressure and attack. For example, the supervisor that Sui Zhou spoke of previously tried to impeach both Royal Consort Wan and her brother, and this led to his family’s demise.
Once Yuan Bin arrived, the atmosphere suddenly changed.
Although Yuan Bin is old, he is still in good shape and is firm in handling things. The moment he arrives, he gets rid of the Embroidered Uniform Guards’ Southern and Northern Administrative Courts leaders, who are also Wan Tong’s trusted men. Wan Tong grits his teeth in resentment, but is unable to do anything to him. He is unable to complain in front of the Emperor as well, all because Yuan Bin was sent by the Emperor precisely to reform the Embroidered Uniform Guards.
With this, no one dares to say anything when they see Wan Tong now. All those troublemakers naturally have to back off and turn over a new leaf obediently, lest they be implicated and dragged into more trouble.
Although it seems as if these happenings have no direct relevance to Sui Zhou, due to his position and how competent he is, he quickly loses the ‘fu’ in his title, and rises to become a real qianhu.
Qianhu is a Rank 5 title, but don’t look down on the rank or his role as a military official, as a qianhu from the Embroidered Uniform Guards has no small amount of power. There are five official posts under both the Northern and Southern Adminstrative Courts, and qianhu commands one of them.
More importantly, because Yuan Bin recently removed the previous Northern Administrative Court in-charge, the position currently sits empty, so Yuan Bin let Sui Zhou take over the role temporarily. This is also out of consideration of Sui Zhou’s sudden promotion as Yuan Bin is afraid that the other men in the Embroidered Uniform Guards would not acknowledge or recognize Sui Zhou’s authority, so the man did not directly push him into the position. Instead, Yuan Bin is giving him the role as a deputy.
Things are indeed different once a veteran like Yuan Bin steps forth, and even on matters such as these, he is meticulous - if Sui Zhou performs well, he can expect to formally transition into his new position in the near future, but if he does not, Yuan Bin can remove him at any time. There are no lack of people eyeing his position, and this inadvertently serves as motivation for Sui Zhou to work his hardest.
So Sui Zhou is now receiving that of a Rank 5 qianhu’s salary but sitting in that of a Rank 4 position. The speed at which is he progressing at is met with the red eyes of jealousy by others, but what Sui Zhou is about to face are multiple obstacles and pressure that comes with thinking about how to win the loyalty and hearts of others, how to convince others and get them to acknowledge him, and how to ensure that people working under him will listen to his orders.
Regardless, this is still something worthy of celebration. In order to celebrate for Sui Zhou, Tang Fan and Xue Ling, together with some of Sui Zhou’s long-time subordinates, decided to host a meal. Not in Xian Ke Lou as it is too expensive there. Since everyone is familiar with each other and there are a lot of restaurants in the city, they do not have to head to an expensive one.
Tang Fan chose a time-honoured food stall called Yang Ji Mutton. The mutton here is most famous and he reserved a room in advance, called a few of his colleagues from Shun Tian Prefecture, and along with Sui Zhou, Xue Ling and some others from the guards, they gather around a table to have hot pot mutton.
There are four pots on the table and four large plates of tender and fat mutton slices on the side. In addition to that, there are green vegetables, mushrooms, noodles and assorted side dishes, garlic, soy sauce, spring onion, sesame oil, pepper and other condiments. Everyone can personally customize and do it themselves as they get into the food.
This time it is not just Sui Zhou, but Xue Ling and the others, because of Yuan Bin, were promoted as well, and this is naturally cause for joy.
On the other hand, Tang Fan, who solved two consecutive cases and made two meritorious contributions - firstly helping Royal Consort Wan to prove her innocence and secondly finding the children of those officials, heading into the bandit’s cave and battling the Nan Cheng Bang with both courage and wit - as he spared no effort and even putting his own life on the line, did not get even the slightest bit of a reward. His rank remains unchanged. Tang Fan does not think much of this personally, but close friends of his find this unfair for him.
After indulging well in both food and alcohol, Xue Ling stands up from his seat, walks over and pats at Tang Fan’s shoulder with great force, assuring him, “Run Qing, I don’t think that you are this unlucky. I’m sure you’ll definitely be able to become a high ranking, major official in the future, do not be discouraged!”
“That’s right!” Pang Qi adds, “It’s just your time has yet to come, don’t be upset.”
Both Xue Ling and him are still working under Sui Zhou at present, but they have already been promoted to baihu rank, going further in their careers as officials. Not just the both of them, but also Sui Zhou’s long-time subordinates, they have all risen up the ranks. With this, everyone knows that if they follow the big boss, they will be taken care of, and thus are now even more loyal to Sui Zhou.
Sui Zhou sees that Xue Ling has drank too much, and is now leaning unsteadily on Tang Fan. He cannot help but reach out and pull him away, and chides lightly, “Stand properly!”
They are not currently on duty and everyone has indulged in some alcohol, so Xue Ling is unafraid of him. Instead, he giggles and jokes, “Da-ge is really so good to Run Qing-xiong, even us brothers who have accompanied you for a long time cannot compare to him!”
A chorus of ‘that’s right’ rings out amongst everyone else.
Sui Zhou says, “I still have some empty space at my place, how about you move over and stay with me, and I’ll be good to you everyday?”
Xue Ling laughs sheepishly, and immediately shuts up.
What a joke; although he has not yet married a wife, he has concubines at home too, not to mention his frequent visits to brothels. If he has to face Sui Zhou’s stoic face every day, it will probably be more miserable than death itself.
Tang Fan laughs, “Everyone wants to be promoted, but I would not want that.”
Xue Ling yells, “You obviously do not mean that, who would not be happy at a promotion?”
“That’s right!” they chorus.
Tang Fan pretends to be pained, “Just think about it. I’m only Rank Six right now, and already I have to infiltrate a bandit’s nest, be struck with a wooden stick and almost died. If I inch even further upwards, wouldn’t I have to confront the White Lotus Sect leader myself? If that happens, by this time next year, none of you will be able to sit with me and have a drink!”
His explanation is indeed interesting and everyone bursts out in laughter. They intended to reassure him initially, but seeing that he is so open-minded about this, everyone does not say anything more.
After the banquet and celebration, everyone heads home and goes on to do what they are supposed to do.
On the way home, Sui Zhou sees that Tang Fan’s brows are tight and troubled, and thinks that while Tang Fan presented himself as rather nonchalant earlier, he must still be bothered by it on the inside, and says, “Sometimes good things can come out of bad things, and in the same way, bad events can lead to good things. You may not have been promoted this time, but it may not be a bad thing, and who knows, better opportunities are lying ahead of you.”
“I’m not worried about this…” Tang Fan says.
Sui Zhou asks, uncomprehending, “Then what is it?”
Embarrassed, Tang-daren says, “We’re not even halfway through the month yet, but my salary is almost gone.”
So that’s what it is. Sui Zhou is a little speechless, and the tension on his cold face is palpable, “… where did your money go? You guys treated me to a meal today, and the portion you contributed was only a few hundred coins?”
Helplessly, Tang Fan replies, “Yesterday, Pan-daren looked me up and the both of us had a meal outside, and who knew that when it was almost time to pay, my shixiong said he was having a stomachache and ran to the toilet, and so I ended up paying for it all first. He wanted to pay for his portion when he returned, but how could I have taken his money?”
“You guys couldn’t have gone to Xian Ke Lou to eat, could you?”
“Of course not. It was at a dumpling stall near Shun Tian Prefecture’s court, we had fish dumplings and pork and cabbage dumplings. Speaking of which, that stall’s skills is comparable to those located in the north of the city, and now that the weather is getting colder, when spring comes, there will be dumplings with chicken fillings, that is truly a delicacy…”
“… you have gone off-topic.”
Tang Fan goes ‘oh’, and continues, “This meal came up to a 100 coins or so as well.”
Upset, he adds, “But a few days ago, when I visited a colleague’s house, I realized that he was so poor that he couldn’t come up with his next meal, and so I treated him to one. I spent 50 coins on this… it is not as if I used a lot at one go, why does it feel like I spent everything at once?”
The more Sui Zhou hears, the more suspicious he gets, “Didn’t you receive 500 taels from that White Lotus Sect lady? Even if you gave me half of it, you couldn’t have used up 250 taels that quickly?!”
This is something that made Tang Fan feel happy for at least half the day. He didn’t tell anyone else about this, only Sui Zhou, and he ended up splitting the money up with him, the both of them each getting a portion.
Sui Zhou refused to take it, but Tang Fan insisted and shoved it into the other’s hands, forcing him to accept it.
Speaking of this, Tang-daren becomes even more embarrassed, “I saw how terrible the conditions were at my colleague’s. He has four children along with elders waiting to be fed, and the rent on the house he is living in is due very soon, but he is unable to come up with the money, so I ended up giving him all 250 taels.
Sui Zhou, expressionless, says, “You’re really generous.”
Thinking that Sui Zhou is praising him, he says humbly, thick-skinned, “Not at all, not at all. Helping the poor is the duty of people my age, and anyway, the money came easy, so it doesn’t pain me to spend it.”
Still expressionless, Sui Zhou continues, “How did this money come easy, did you go steal it or rob someone?”
“…”
“Did you forget that you almost lost your life in the bandits’ cave? No matter how difficult your friend’s situation is, giving him 100 taels would have been more than enough. How are you so intelligent at everything else but on your own matters? You do things without planning and spend money too easily!”
Tang-daren, being lectured as a child would be, does not dare to raise his head. Ashamed, he says, “Yes yes yes, I’ll get Ah Dong to supervise me when I go back!”
Seriously, since Sui fu-baihu became Sui-qianhu, and also gaining power over the Northern Administrative Court, his authority grows increasingly day by day. Before this, Sui Zhou was already rather adept at lecturing others, and now when he gets this fierce, Tang Fan does not dare to make a sound.
Sui Zhou says, “How will Ah Dong be able to restrict you? From now on, after you exchange your salary for cash, submit half of it to me, I will keep it for you. Next time, after you finish spending the money you have and need more, you will have to tell me, and only after I agree can you use it.”
He has never liked to put his nose into someone else’s business, and the only unrelated things that Sui Zhou interferes in are mostly Tang Fan’s. And fortunately they are this close in their relationship, otherwise if outsiders heard him, they would definitely find him hard to understand and may even get into an argument with Sui Zhou.
However, for an eccentric person like Tang-daren, he instead nods gleefully, “That’s great! With you watching me, I will no longer be such a spendthrift!”
And since then, aside from dealing with the tasks of the Northern Administrative Court, Sui-qianhu now has to handle Tang-daren’s finances when he gets home. He commands power both at home and in public, and also the envy of others.

MDZS and the Legends of Hou Yi
So just for fun, I wanted to talk about how much the tales of Hou Yi, a famous figure in Chinese legends, is referrenced in the story of MDZS. I’m pretty confident that MXTX is quite the fan of this particular story. (Note: There are multiple versions of this tale, and I went with the one that had most ties with MDZS, which, coincidentally, happened to be the version I personally grew up with, with one or two minor differences.)
This post took me 6 hours.
The Legend:
Back when the world was still new, there were ten brilliant suns in the sky, children of the Heavenly Sun Emperor Di Jun. They took turns illuminating the sky, bringing light and warmth to the mortal world below. However, the ten suns were still children, and despite their father’s strict instructions of only allowing one of them into the skies at a time, they all went out together one day to play together.
The mortal world suffered from their game, the blinding light and unbearable heat killing crops and livestock and causing the people immense suffering. Seeing this suffering, the great immortal archer Hou Yi climbed to the top of a great mountain, armed with exactly ten arrows in his quiver, and spoke one final warning to the suns, asking that they return home peacefully. But when they did not heed his warning, Hou Yi drew his divine bow, letting loose nine arrows made of dragon bone towards the heavens. One by one, nine suns were struck, each of them falling dead to the Earth as blood red crows bearing three legs. With one arrow left in his quiver, however, Hou Yi chose to spare the last sun so the world would not fall into icy darkness. The last sun promised to behave, fearful of the archer who shot down his brothers. The mortal world declared Hou Yi a hero and their saviour.
Di Jun, however, was furious at the deaths of nine of his children, and so he cast Hou Yi and his wife, Chang'E, from the heavens, stripping them of their immortality.
Seeking a way to return them to the heavens and relieve the feelings of grief felt by his dear wife, Hou Yi sought out the help of Xi Wang Mu, Mother Queen of the West, who was known for having created the Elixir of Immortality. Xi Wang Mu took pity on Hou Yi, and also recognized his heroic deeds in shooting down the suns despite knowing there were consequences, and thus, she gave him her last bottle of Elixir. She warned him, however, that the elixir was too strong for any single mortal, and it must be shared between him and his wife.
Overjoyed, Hou Yi returned home, hiding the elixir in hopes of surprising his wife with it. He told her that the 15th day of the Eight Lunar Month would be a special day, for he planned to share the elixir with her on that day, and ascend back to the heavens together under the light of the beautiful full moon.
However, others had heard of the elixir the famous fallen hero had managed to obtain. Greedy with the thought of ascending to immortality themselves, they stalked Hou Yi home and overheard what he told his wife. So they planned an ambush on the promised night, when Hou Yi left to go hunting for a special feast. They attacked Hou Yi under the moonlight, killing him and then raiding their home. They tried to force Chang’E to give them what they wanted, but Chang’E refused to give it up to her husband’s killers. To ensure they never got their hands on it, Chang’E drank the entire elixir. True to Xi Wang Mu’s words, it was too strong for one person, and she was immediately cast into the skies, forced to leave her husband behind without even saying goodbye. She then decided to live on the moon, the closest she could to the Earth, where her husband was, her only companion the Jade Rabbit of the Moon.
References to the Legend in Mo Dao Zu Shi:
The Wen Sect & the Ten Suns
The Wen Sect represent the Ten Suns, who enjoyed their lives and did what they wanted at the expense of others
Though we don’t meet all of them, there are exactly ten named (sort of) characters bearing the name Wen
Wen Mao
Wen RuoHan
Wen Chao
Wen Xu
Wen ZhuLiu
Wen Qing
Wen Ning
Granny Wen
Uncle Four
Wen Yuan
Note: While not explicitly stated, Granny Wen & Uncle Four were only ever considered part of the sect, so it’s fair to assume that they were in fact surnamed Wen
Out of those ten Wen Sect members, only one was alive by the end of the story, Wen Yuan (Wen Ning was technically dead)
The Wen Sect as a whole is said to be bad at archery, and they were furious upon losing an archery competition where missing a shot disqualifies them (Hou Yi only had ten arrows, at first planning to shoot them all down, and couldn't afford to miss a shot or the world could've been left with more than one sun)
The indoctrination can be seen as a metaphor for the suns playing and exerting their power harmfully over the mortal world
The Wen Sect primarily resorted to burning and fire, the element most associated with the sun
The name of QiShan Wen’s residence is 不夜天城 (bù yè tiān chéng), (overly) literally translated, “No Night Sky Palace”, AKA Nightless City. With the Ten Suns in the sky, night could not fall
Wang LingJiao took the shooting of a sun-like kite as justification for her accusations of the Jiang Sect going against the Wen Sect
It was specifically the child of the Wen Sect Leader, Wen Chao, that led the attack on Lotus Pier, like how the Ten Suns were the children of the actual Sun Emperor
Also on a narrative note, both the Ten Suns and Wen Chao had larger roles in the overall story compared to their fathers, despite their fathers playing key roles as well
The first Wen Sect member to take Wei WuXian’s side, which ultimately led to Wei WuXian & Jiang Cheng surviving the massacre of Jiang Sect, was Wen Ning, the only notably skilled archer of the Wen Sect
On a similar note, Wei WuXian, who was the considered a hero and major player in the fall of the Wen Sect, was also the winner of the archery competition
This means two skilled archers were heavily responsible for the Wens losing the war in the long run, albeit somewhat indirectly
The Sunshot Campaign is literally named the Sunshot Campaign and was in fact directly and explicitly referencing the legend of a great hero shooting down the sun in canon (meaning the story of Hou Yi exists as a legend or fairytale in MDZS canon, nice!)
Wei WuXian, who is the Hou Yi of MDZS and a hero in the war against the Wens, is represented by a crow in official promos for the animation, and when the suns were shot down, they turned into red crows with three legs (this one could be pure coincidence since crows are also just seen as symbols of death in general and he controls the dead)
The Golden Core, The Yin Tiger Seal, and the Elixir of Immortality
Since golden cores are seen as necessary to cultivate, and cultivation leads to immortality, they are what represent the elixir in MDZS
Wen ZhuLiu, a Wen Sect member, having the ability to destroy golden cores could be seen as referencing how Di Jun took away Hou Yi and Chang’E’s immortality in retaliation for shooting down the suns
Jiang Cheng into going up a mountain to meet BaoShan Sanren to restore his golden core is similar to how Hou Yi sought out Xi Wang Mu to restore their immortality
On a related note, MDZS’s version of Xi Wang Mu is both BaoShan Sanren and Wen Qing combined, BaoShan Sanren playing the role of the immortal figure to give the golden core, and Wen Qing taking on her identity while being the one to actually give it through the experimental surgery
After getting the elixir however, it became more similar to the Yin Tiger Seal instead, being sought after by hostile people who were willing to kill Wei WuXian for it, all for personal reasons (Fuck you Jin Sect)
Wei WuXian hiding the golden core transfer from Jiang Cheng can be seen as similar to how Hou Yi initially hid the elixir from Chang’E, though Hou Yi always planned to tell her about it unlike Wei WuXian
In an alternate version of the tale, Chang’E was suspicious of Hou Yi’s secrecy with the elixir after subconsciously blaming him for their immortality taken away (Hou Yi may or may not have told her about his task, depending on what version of this alternate version you read), thus peeking inside the hidden box while he was away on a hunt. When he returned, she panicked over betraying his trust and drank the whole thing. This alternate version can be seen as similar to how Jiang Cheng wasn’t sure whether to trust Wei WuXian or not after the events of the Sunshot Campaign, and his inability to trust his “former” brother heavily contributed to their separation. I mean if Wei WuXian & Hou Yi had just talked to their loved ones in these versions of their stories they would’ve had a little less problems but what’s an ancient Chinese dramatic tale without miscommunication am I right?
WangXian and Hou Yi & Chang’E
Both Wei WuXian and Lan WangJi share aspects of Hou Yi and Chang’E’s individual sides of their stories in MDZS
Lan WangJi, like Chang’E, wasn’t present during his loved one’s confrontation with the Wen Sect (”the Suns”)
Lan WangJi is also associated with the moon in some official art and his robes are always white and resemble “mourning robes”. This ties into Chang’E being the goddess of the moon and being known to wear white, some believing she does so in mourning the loss of her husband who remained on Earth
In contrast, Wei WuXian is more associated with the sun narratively, having fought the Wen Sect during a major turning point in his life, then lived as family with the Wen Remnants and always having something red in his otherwise dark outfits (his ribbon). This ties in with Hou Yi’s involvement with the Ten Suns in general
Side note: Lan WangJi wore clothing that was more typical of a non-combatant (long, flowy hanfu-looking robes), like Chang’E, who was a dancer never saw the battlefield. Wei WuXian tended to wear clothes more typical of an active combatant (pre-Yiling Patriarch at least) with narrow sleeves and trousers, similar to the portrayals of traditional archers such as Hou Yi. He no longer wears such attire in Mo XuanYu’s body. (CQL not counted for this point)
WangXian’s representative animal is the rabbit, specifically the two rabbits Wei WuXian gifted Lan WangJi. Chang’E’s main (sometimes only) companion on the moon is the Jade Rabbit
On a related note, the Lan Sect is the one that keeps the rabbits, and the Lan Sect happens to be the Sect most associated with jade ornaments, even though the other sects have them as well
Like Chang’E, Wei WuXian was unwilling to give his assailants the Yin Tiger Seal, choosing instead to ensure they could never have it, but by destroying the seal (”drinking the elixir”) he ended up being separated from his loved ones in the mortal world, in his case by dying
Also, part of his decision to do this was driven by the grief of losing someone he loved, though in his case it was Jiang YanLi instead of his future husband
In an alternate version of the tale where Hou Yi survived the ambush, or the version where Chang’E betrays his trust, Hou Yi becomes violent and cruel, going from a worshipped hero to a hated tyrant. This alternate version can relate to both Wei WuXian and Lan WangJi. Wei WuXian was a hero of the Sunshot Campaign, but became hated after the war was over (though he did so by sticking to his personal morals). Lan WangJi turned against his sect and the cultivation world despite his reputation as a righteous man because he feared losing the man he loved, then upon losing Wei WuXian he lost himself in his grief, especially notable in his drunken rampage where he branded himself with the Wen branding iron
Also related to the alternate versions in which Hou Yi lived, like Hou Yi, Lan WangJi was left on the mortal surface without his love, who had gone to a non-mortal plane of existence and was unable to even communicate with him
Hou Yi and Chang’E, post-separation, are sometimes associated with the concept of Yin-Yang, representing the “opposites” of Earth and Heaven respectively, connected by love. WangXian is similar, having started as opposing personality types with shared ideals, then their relationship became that of love by the end of the story. (WangXian is also more visually representative of Yin-Yang, with their black and white clothing respectively)
Welp this got so long LMAO. Anyways this was still really fun to do, especially since I personally really like this story, since it was one of the stories I was told growing up (it’s not my favourite exactly, tiny-baby-me got mad at the Jade Emperor a lot, but one of them). Hope this was just as fun to read lol.
