Yin Yang Yo! ☯️ Reboot Ideas

Yin, Yang Yo, like Danny Phantom was also a big chunk of my childhood and I genuinely liked it. And sometimes I still watch a bit. With that said I also acknowledge the show had some problems, and many things wouldn't exactly track today. I think there were was a lot of good potential and could be a good reboot, but I would change some stuff. I got a lot of ideas, especially from my chats with @g00mb13 💖💖💖

Title change. Yin, Yang, Yo! Woo Foo Warriors!

Remove some unnecessary characters to give the more prominent ones more development and screen time

Focus more on Yin and Yang's symbolism to the yin and yang. I think it'd be cool if they explored the whole yin/yang thing more. Yin despite being presented as the more moral is named after the dark part. And has shown signs of selfishness and ego. And I remember night master trying to unlock their negative parts. What if they explored that with Yin. She becomes the new night master.

More serious, emotional moments.

Become more plot focused.

Concept idea. People who are associated with the Yin if succumbed to their darker parts can become the Night Master and for people of the Yang, can become the Day Master. Both the extreme dark parts of a person.

Night Master concept.

Becoming a Night Master is a mix of choice but also dark influence. I’m not a fan of the was brainwashed completely. I like when the character goes bad out of their own choices. The process of being a night master is to become consumed by your negative feelings and thoughts. The force looks for those who aren’t in the best place emotionally. Perhaps some turn to the night not for evil reasons, some even for good reasons but overtime the more they give in, the more they lose their good. Maybe being the yin isn’t bad but giving into the more negative turns you into the night. The same pretty much applies for the Day Master.

Potential Yin/Yang powers.

Make Eradicus a more serious villain.

Give Night Master more backstory. Show who he used to be before becoming the Night Master.

Give Yin and Yang casual clothes. I also wanna give them bunny tails.

Redesign Lina to look more dog like.

Give Yuck more screen time and development. Have him be able to find peace and redemption, have love. Have him realize even if he's made from Yin and Yang's negative qualities he's still capable of good, just as how they're traits r important for them to have. Let him become part of the fam!

Definetley rewrite Saranoia. Maybe make her a proud sorceress who feels magic's the superior method to stuff and HATES brawny warriors such as Yang and Ultimoose. Perhaps make Ultimoose the same but with fighting. He was a against magic as shown in ep 1.

Have Yin and Yang practice eachothers separate styles more. Have Yin still be mainly mystic but also know good combat skills and vice versa for Yang.

Carl redemption arc, show people he can be pretty cool! Perhaps have him start out as what he was like in s1 and able to become more intimidating, maybe even work for NM a bit but eventually realize he just wanted to be validated and recognized and join the good guys when things become too evil for him and finally get the validation he wanted.

Less gross out, mean spirit and especially gender related humour. I know a lot fo complaints where because of that.

Make the characters nicer. Def still keep their flaws and traits but also tone down the mean parts, especially after character development.

Coop-Theres many ways to go about this but basically make him less creepy or make him realize that's not ok and accept Yin isn't into him.

Personally I'll think a rewrite him as a genuinely nice guy. Very shy and keeps to himself most of the time. I still want him to work for Night Master but not to win Yin.

Have Yuck and Coop get to know eachother on account of both working for NM.

Okay so Yin Yang Yo! was my absolute FAVORITE fucking show when I was a young kid, like I dunno, 10 to 13 years old. I recently revisited the show and well, I've outgrown the writing QUITE a bit. I'm in my late twenties now. But it's still very nostalgic to me, and I figured hey, I got a few light-hearted ideas, so I'll scribble em down and post em somewhere.

One of my favorite characters from YYY was Yuck because he was cute and scruffy. I like scruffy. And I probably enjoyed his voice acting too.

Anyway, I spat out some ideas for how I might rewrite the episode "Yin Yang Yuck" for a fanfic or something, but I'm too busy to write a whole fanfic, so here's the raw juices.

So first, I don't like how flippant the beginning is. Yin and Yang fight daily, and often physically, so it seems silly that this one time only, they would create life. What's a specific thing Yin and Yang would do in this fight that's different from others?

Let's say they've both been learning a new move that's high level. Master Yo taught them the basics, but neither of them can successfully use it. Hell, Woo Foo Aura might be good for this? Putting aside Aura Or Not cause I'm just having fun here.

Yin has a partial grasp on the idea of it because she'll happily express love and passion, but Yang is too embarrassed to express himself and he tries not to feel those vulnerable emotions. So let's say Yin gets REALLY pissed at Yang one day (hopefully over something much less dumb than what started their fight in canon) and she gives in to using her anger for her aura instead, and Yang does the same, even though his anger is normally performative and light-hearted. The two of them genuinely set out to hurt each other in some way, which is what flares up their worst traits—traits they're directly channeling into physical Woo Foo energy.

Their auras reject them because of their misuse of their emotions to fuel the power, and instead they clash and combine. The sheer power creates a new being made of both of their worst qualities, topped off with hatred for each of those qualities and their good ones as well, because well, they were feeling some level of hatred for each other in those moments.

He calls himself Yuck because he is full of self-loathing and awful contradictions, and because the parts of Yin and Yang that love one another despite their differences did not get transferred to him. Yin and Yang are left without the ability to feel any negative hateful emotions. Maybe sadness? But not anger. Not the desire to harm.

I also just realized that yeah, I'd make Yuck nonbinary because he was made from a boy and girl who perform their genders in such AGGRESSIVELY normative ways, but I could buy that he uses he/him because nobody in this family knows what nonbinary is and Yuck isn't really concerned with it, but he still finds that he's completely being perceived either way. He doesn't care about his pronouns, etc.

He's also not really in a position to figure out what identity makes him feel right? Because again, he's just made out of awful traits. He's ashamed of ALL his interests and all his circumstances (and Yin and Yang's circumstances), so he lashes out any time someone tries to be nice and understanding towards him. He's disgusted by Yin and Yang's sugary sweet kindness. He's driven to violent rage when someone so much as steps in his way. He snaps at people when they seem to "have a tone" or look at him grumpily or don't respond to him quickly enough. He perceives every action someone takes in the worst possible light. He's miserable.

Master Yo is alarmed at what Yin and Yang did, and especially that it resulted in a new living person being made. He decides that it would be the most humane to split him back up and send his traits back to the twins, because they're incomplete without being able to work through them naturally, and Yuck is a being created purely to hate and hurt. However, Yuck doesn't want to die, of course. So he attacks.

Master Yo can easily kick his ass tbh. There's no reason little level 2 Yuck should be able to beat a Woo Foo master. But maybe Yuck has hostages. He doesn't attack Master Yo directly, he keeps him away by threatening others. Yin and Yang have to come up behind him and try to take him by surprise, and then they have to "kill" him to his face when their surprise attack fails. It pains them both to do this, but they have to be whole again.

After the fight, they're back to their normal selves and Yuck is gone, and they still feel like they just did something cruel....

Coop Rewrite🐤

I know one of YYY's biggest problems was Coop. Especially with his relationship with Yin. I have some Rewrite ideas

Make him a genuinely nice guy. Not just trying to win Yin's affection but by heart a kind person. Maybe he could be like TOH Willow Park, he'd def would relate with her insecurities and inner anger.

Have Yin and Coop start as being friends, and grow romantic feelings the more they hang out, bond.

Make him less of a nerd stereotype. He can still be a nerdy character, but also his own character. Maybe specify what he's interested in. Maybe he could have an interest in magic like Yin does. Give them something to bond over. Perhaps make him a genre fan. A HUGE Wuxia(martial arts stories), especially the fantasy type with magic. Tbh I see him know a lot about Chinese folktales, legends, stories, etc. He could lampshade any cliches and even provide advice/retrospection for certain situations that were something he's read and seen from those types of stories. I totally see him LOVE to get into Woo Foo knowledge and history, become an early student alongside Yin and Yang(not just to report for NM).

Have him bond with Yang and the rest of the gang besides Yin. Maybe he and Yang have to work together for a situation and end up becoming good friends despite their huge differences. Maybe they could bond over a story they both like JTTW.

Have Coop also bond with Yuck. Especially during their time working for NM. They can help eachother through stuff.

I can see a scenario where Yin asks him about certain knowledge for a quest and he ends up going on a huge fact rave and at first embarrassed but Yin finds it cool how much he knows and he happily continues.

Personal life/home life explored.

A recurring gag where he just seems to pop out of nowhere or is conveniently where Yin and Yang are. Which could foreshadow him actually keeping an eye on them and reporting to NM but not in a specifically stalking Yin way. Maybe Yang could even lampshade how weird that is.

Have Yin already like him and not just after becoming Dark Coop. Have them genuinely bond and enjoy each other's company. Yin liking him for his sweetness and nerdiness. Have Yin show care for Coop's insecurities, trying to change himself and his struggles as Dark Coop. Have her tell him she already liked him as he was and doesn't need to become something he isn't, especially a supervillain.

Yang-Yeah I feel like that should've been obvious.

Coop-Im a hormonal tween, forgive me for having some confusing feelings!

I want Coop and Yin to hang out in a ComicCon together for a magic fantasy story they both geek out together over.

Coop's Motive. DEFINETLEY Not to win Yin.

Perhaps make it more about Coop having extreme insecurities and self-hate on himself. Maybe he joined NM because he felt like the world just saw him as a weak, unremorable loser and wanted to be more than that. He's definetley been bullied(good opportunity for Roger Jr to develop so, seeing how bullying can really mess someone up, especially when he and Coop are in the gang together) Perhaps becoming friends with Yin, Yang and the rest of the gang help him realize there r people who genuinely like him and he should learn to accept that Coop instead of trying to become someone he knows he doesn't want to or shouldn't be.

Etheir Coop and Yim become a healthy romantic thing or if there's just things they can't work out, just be great friends and still support each other.

Explore Dark Coop more! Have him struggle with his darker side and personal demons. Maybe even get counselling/therapy. Learn to love himself just as his friends do.

Give him more besides simping for Yin. No creepiness. That's I think probably the general thing that needs work tbh. Make sure he respects boundaries and not push stuff.

I really see a lot for Coop, not just for him but the other characters of YYY.
