I just think he's neat🤏
And also a cool antagonist, srsly Banana Fish is so good with the characters. The first time I watched it I was so impressed I couldn't talk about it on the internet because it seemed to me it would break the charming spell it put on me.

If you're still taking prompt requests, could I pls request something with YueSing talking about trauma?
Yut-Lung gasps for air, feeling like he's drowning. Why can't he breathe? Why ... ?
He hasn't felt like this in a while. Things have been better recently, years after everything but—suddenly none of that matters, and he's fifteen again, at the mercy of ... everyone. Everyone.
"Hey, hey, it's okay," a man's voice says, but of course it's a lie. It's never okay. They always say shit like that right before they ...
Yut-Lung blinks the haze from his eyes, looking up and trying to figure out what's going on. Where he is. Who he's with.
There's a figure looming over him—tall, muscular, everything that Yut-Lung has learned to fear. Yut-Lung shrinks back. If he makes himself small, vulnerable, maybe they'll take pity on him.
A joke, really. They never do.
The man takes a step toward Yut-Lung, and Yut-Lung's chest seizes up. "Stay away from me!" he yells. He'll probably pay the price for acting out, but ... He can't help it, sometimes. He's so, so afraid.
"Yue ..." the man replies, and he sounds ... sad?
Who calls him Yue?
"Hey, I won't come closer. Okay? Yue, please. Try to—breathe, or—anything. Please."
Breathing. Yut-Lung can do that. Yue can do that. Just breathing. Easy.
The world comes back into focus. He's on the floor, and the figure in front of him is crouching down, a few feet away. He really hasn't come closer.
W-wait.
"Sing?" Yut-Lung manages.
"There you go. It's me, okay? I won't hurt you. I would never hurt you."
Yut-Lung nods. It's Sing. God, he's so stupid sometimes. He takes another breath.
"Sorry," Yut-Lung manages. "You—just, sometimes when I'm—"
"It's okay," Sing replies. He sits down fully. "Guess this growth spurt is a blessing and a curse, huh?"
Oh. He figured that out right away.
"Everything gets blurry and confusing," Yut-Lung tries to explain. "I can't figure out where I am, or—who you are." He lowers his voice. "You look like ... them."
Sing nods. "Yeah. I get it. I mean, I don't have the same experiences as you, but shit's hard for me sometimes. I don't blame you, okay?"
"... Yeah," Yut-Lung mumbles. Someone not blaming him. That's new.
Or, maybe it's not, anymore. But it's still hard to believe that.
Sing looks at Yut-Lung, and suddenly his strength feels like safety instead of ... anything else. "Yue," Sing says, and even his voice is strong.
"Sorry," Yut-Lung whispers.
"Yue, this isn't your fault. I mean—yeah, it's hard to see you ... afraid of me. But it's not your fault. Okay?"
Yut-Lung can breathe again, and it all seems so silly. Sing used to be just this scrawny kid, and now he's grown so much. Yut-Lung still feels like he's in the same place he's always been.
But maybe he's not, really. He—he has Sing now, at least. He didn't have anyone before, so ... maybe things are different now.
"Okay," Yut-Lung agrees softly. "Thank you."
"Of course. I'm sorry I scared you."
Yut-Lung shakes his head. "Not your fault. I know you were just trying to help."
"Yeah," Sing breathes. "I don't know what to do. When you get like that. I want to help, but ... I feel like I always make things worse for you."
"N-no, Sing! You—you're perfect; you're ..."
Sing smiles, a little sad. "It's okay, Yue. I know it hurts."
"I ..." Yut-Lung trails off, and it's quiet for a moment. Then, "Maybe, instead of getting close to me, if you just ... talk to me?"
Sing blinks. "Talk?"
"Yeah, and ... This time, when you called me Yue. That ... helped."
"It did?"
"Yeah," Yut-Lung whispers. "You're the only one who ... So it reminds me that it's you. That you wouldn't hurt me."
Sing grins. "I can do that!" he says, and even though his voice has changed—deeper now, not a child anymore—there's a hint of that kid who told Yut-Lung he couldn't bring himself to hate him. The kid Yut-Lung fell in love with.
Yut-Lung smiles, too. "Let's try that, then. Sorry, I—I know this is hard for you."
Sing hums. "Maybe so, but you're worth it."
Yut-Lung's eyes widen. "I am?"
Sing laughs. "Of course. If you weren't, I wouldn't still be here. Right?"
"Y-yeah. I guess." He's never really thought about it that way. "Thank you, Sing."
"Of course. Yue. Of course."
"Can you ... Can you hug me? Please." Touch me gently, like only you ever would.
"Yeah," Sing whispers. "Yeah, I can do that. Thank you, for trusting me."
Yut-Lung smiles. "You make it so easy." You make everything so easy, Sing.
Thank you.

His Right Hand Man - Lee Yut Lung and Sing Soo Ling
"For years, the Dragon Road was ruled by the Lee clan, descendants of the Qing Dynasty. Sing Soo-Ling was the right-hand man of Lee Yut-Lung, head of the Lee clan. He was raised in New York's Chinatown. Lee Yut-Lung recognized his talent back when he was the boss of a gang of street kids. Eventually, he was put in charge of all of New York's Chinese underworld. They pledged their loyalty to each other and Lee Yut-Lung entrusted Sing Soo-Ling with not only all of his wealth and influence, but the future of the entire Chinese underworld. Considering how much Chinese society values seniority and bloodlines, this was the rarest of rare occurrences." –Yasha, Chapter 46

writing pattern game
Rules: Share the first line of your last ten published works or as many as you are able and see if there are any patterns! (from most recent to least recent, starting from the top)
I was tagged by both @scurator and @b1uetrees. Thank you, friends!
1. Notoriety (Crowley/Aziraphale)
They give him a desk.
2. Heritage Site (Touya/Yue)
Over the course of his lifetime, Yue has borne witness to so many spectacular things that precious little moves him anymore.
3. Gift Horse Dentistry (Dong-sik/Ju-won)
The first time they fuck, it takes nearly two minutes for Ju-won's vision to come back, and as he shivers and gasps up at the ceiling, he thinks, well, that can't be right.
4. Resonant Frequency (Dong-sik/Ju-won)
His vision blurs, the ceiling fan above the bed going fuzzy and shapeless, spreading out like spilled tea, and through the haze of pleasure Ju-won can hear his own breath punching out of his lungs, the slapping of skin against skin.
5. Rescue Breathing (BE gen)
It used to be a running joke that somewhere inside Lee Dong-sik was an endless supply of self-restraint, because no one was able to harness their own destructive tendencies the way he could.
6. A Twist of the Knife (MDZS gen, Nie Huaisang-centric, background NieLan)
Nie Mingjue had been the kind of man the cultivation world saw maybe once a century: powerful, talented, with a core that burned like a sun.
7. but the sun is eclipsed by the moon (Thranduil/Bard)
The Battle of the Five Armies threatened to unmake the world, but The Negotiations of the Three Kings might actually succeed.
8. The Promises of Supercells (Otabek/Yuri pre-slash)
"What are you doing?"
9. Islands of Hours (Joe/Nicky)
Eventually there comes a lull—at least enough of one that they feel no guilt whatsoever in abandoning Nile to the same brutal and incredibly necessary training they all endured at some point under Andy's unforgiving tutelage—and so they go to Malta.
10. A Most Forgetful Death (Joe/Nicky)
"You're an incurable romantic," Nicky says, and though his expression doesn't so much as twitch, Joe can hear the laughter languishing between the words, can feel it on his tongue and rubbing up against his teeth when Nicky meets him halfway to smear a kiss against his mouth.
I don't really see any discernible patterns, although I think one was starting to take shape for Beyond Evil. Between GHD and RF, and all my WIPs, I sure do like to keep that boy aching and bamboozled.

Note
for the wip ask game how about the word 'cold'
here's a couple!
from a technically-finished angsty twoshot I'm trying to finish part 2 of before I post (working title: 'at the top of my lungs, in my arms')
Her boots clump across the floor, and the door closes with a creak. Jet leans against the cold shower wall and lets the scalding spray wash over him, ignoring how the water hitting the floor sounds like rain on a car roof, pretending the shrill screech of the rickety pipes doesn't remind him of tires spinning out on wet asphalt.
and from a jet/sokka hurt-comfort-forced-bonding fic (working title: 'you're the one that I need/I'm the one that you loathe')
Sokka grabbed the extra blankets off his bed — without the electricity on, there was a good chance it was gonna get cold — and dug his emergency candles out of a drawer. (Sure, most of them were just scented candles gifted by Yue and Ty Lee, but there was next to no occasion other than an emergency or an impromptu s'mores cookoff where they would ever make an appearance, so emergency candles they were.)
Thanks for the ask! <3

part three of this fic for @primtheamazing:
Azula lays awake late into the night, staring up at an icy ceiling and chafing in her metaphorical bonds. This whole place is made of ice; she could burn right through it and go anywhere she liked, if only Zuko and the Kyoshi Warriors weren’t on the other side of the door.
She could do anything she wanted, if only she wanted something.
She wants so many things.
They’re all impossible.
She’s cold, so she breathes fire into her lungs and closes her eyes. She won’t show weakness. She won’t hesitate. When she gets her chance, she’ll get her revenge. Zuko will never know what hit him, except he’ll know EXACTLY what hit him, because she won’t give him the mercy of a quick or painless end. No, he’ll see her. He’ll know it was her.
He’ll die, and he’ll die knowing he deserved it.
Traitor.
She’ll never get to Mai. Mai’s not stupid enough to get anywhere near her. Zuko, though . . .
Zuko’s always been stupid.
Ty Lee . . .
No. She won’t waste her chance on worthless, frivolous, mercurial Ty Lee. Zuko’s the one who’s going to suffer for this. Ty Lee . . .
She’ll burn her, of course, given even the scrap of a chance. Scar her as badly as she’s going to scar that Kyoshi Warrior. But Zuko’s the one she’s going to kill.
Azula exhales a lick of blue-hot flame, and lays awake. Everything that’s happened, everything Zuko’s done . . . she thinks about it all, and thinks about her revenge. She won’t let ZUKO have what’s hers by right. He didn’t earn it. The Avatar handed it to him on a platter, because he debased and lowered himself for it like the worthless, useless creature he is.
SHE earned it. She did everything she needed to do, and did everything right. She didn’t make a single mistake.
But Zuko was a fool, and Mai and Ty Lee betrayed her, and her father left her behind to rot, and Zuko brought his disgusting WATERBENDER to an Agni Kai, and now . . .
Azula breathes in. She breathes out. She thinks dark, ugly thoughts, and they soothe her.
Very little soothes her anymore, but the thought of the way she’s going to make Zuko pay for all this is . . . something, at least.
It’s not much, but Azula will take it.
She lives in a nation of cowards and traitors and weaklings, and she’s in a frozen room she could melt right through, and she’ll never, ever get what she deserves in life. No matter what she does, she’ll never have any better than he does right now, except for the brief moment of victory she’ll get when she burns Zuko’s throat out.
She falls asleep.
She dreams.
.
.
.
Azula dreams about, of all things, the moon. It hangs fat and full in the sky, the light almost overpowering, and she bares her teeth against it. It’s a symbol of everything she hates, everything that was taken from her, and she wants to burn it down.
It’s the ugliest thing she’s ever seen.
A girl with hair as white as death steps in through the high window, looking confused. Azula stares at her.
“Who the hell are you supposed to be?” she says.
“My name is Yue,” the girl says, simple and polite, though she still looks confused. “Are you . . . lost?”
“Lost?” Azula scowls at her. She’s never lost. She isn’t stupid enough to be that unprepared in life. And “Yue” is the one who came HERE.
“Just . . . humans aren’t supposed to be here,” Yue says, looking around the same room that Azula went to sleep in. “It’s always empty.”
“I have no idea what you’re talking about,” Azula says flatly. “What, am I supposed to think you’re a spirit?”
“I’m the moon,” Yue says.
“Then I hate you,” Azula says, baring her teeth. It’s not enough to contain the way she feels, but it’s a start. Yue bites her lip.
“I’m sorry,” she says. “I don’t . . . what’s your name?”
“Everyone knows my name,” Azula says scornfully. She’s a prisoner. She’s a princess. She never meets anyone who hasn’t been warned about her.
“I don’t,” the moon says, as if it isn’t the entire reason she lost, and Azula feels loathing and ugliness and ANGER and–
She hurls herself at the moon, at the girl, at Yue, all flame and fury, and Yue cries out in alarm and throws her hands up. The fire on Azula’s fists vanishes–goes out like it’s nothing–and water crashes up from the frozen floor and throws her back towards the bed. She shrieks in incoherent rage and Yue cries out again, clapping her hands over her mouth with a horrified expression.
“I’m sorry!” she says. “I’m sorry!”
“I’ll kill you!” Azula snarls, lifting a hand to call fire, and wakes up.
.
.
.
Azula is in bed. She’s not cold anymore, oddly, though the room also feels colder than it’s ever been. She blinks, slowly, and wet hair slides into her eyes.
What . . .
She sits up in the moonlight, and exhales flame–for warmth, for true brightness, for–
It comes out ice and fog.
She SCREAMS.
