I recently watched Yumi's Cells Season 2 and as someone who had read the webtoon before watching the drama, my question is why the hell did they give Soonrok scenes to Babi?? The almost-falling-off-the-stairs scene, the first sleepover at Soonrok's house, THE DOOR PASSWORD? I get that maybe they never thought about adapting more of Yumi's story, but they could've come up with other scenes for Yumi and Babi instead. I don't know, it just bothered me for some reason.

I know you're just a "normal" person with no professional insight into kdramas, and I know the answer is money, but can you explain why all of a sudden all of the kdramas are extending into two, three, four seasons? One of the appealing parts of a kdrama was the nice, tidy package of the one-and-done season. A perfect story all wrapped up with a tidy 16-episode bow.

What makes this conflict perfect (as in super messed up) for me is the added layer of nostalgia for the fans of He is Psychometric (a favorite of mine because it got me out of my worst kdrama slump). I truly never thought I would see these two on my screen again and even less in a romantic setting. But dramaland has its ways of surprising you.

Yet, she said it lol it’s out in the open now and Babi’s heart has been shaken! Oh, Babi. You bad, bad Babi.

I can say that I'm rooting for Yumi and Babi (even knowing how the original story goes in the webtoon) and I'm not so low-key wishing they change their fate as a couple somehow. Yet, as a fan of both YeEun and Jinyoung's chemistry and their last work together, my feelings are all over the place and I find myself excited for a new loveline, for their hinted future together. I even feel like a traitor to Yumi. (The Director or whoever casted YeEun knew very well what they were doing and I salute them for it lol)

Now, is this wrong? Not yet. I mean, to a certain point, you can't control your feelings sometimes and you cannot choose who you like and when. Even if you are in a relationship, it doesn't mean that you can turn off liking other people like a switch (it sure would be great if stuff like that could happen irl) but you can choose how to act upon it. And fact is, loving and being with someone in a committed relationship is a choice, and is one you take everyday, and some days it is harder than others. And Babi is presented with a situation that shouldn’t be a dilemma, yet it is.

In defense of DaEun I have to say, she’s only taking a chance. It’s now or never. They say all it’s fair in love and war and well, this is it. I don’t think fault about Babi’s feelings should fall upon her shoulders because it’s not like he is a kid and it’s not like he doesn’t have the emotional intelligence and the maturity he is supposed to have as an adult. And as a man in a serious, one-year relationship.

Which takes me to another thing I like about this and is how this perfect image of Babi is crumbling before our eyes. Even that small but chilling glimpse at that part of his subconscious (did you see the clubs and bars?? Looks like Babi had a dark past) was so telling and it showed me why the director and writers haven't show a lot more of Babi's cells. It's on purpose, otherwise that Perfection of his would've been destroyed a lot earlier than it did and how on earth would we have rooted for him in the first place? I don’t know but imo this drama is so clever for that. I still feel cheated, but I respect it hahaha

I think the different reaction among age groups is so interesting. Guess most young people want ships and romance. I'm around Yumi's age and I never thought it is important who is gonna be her partner. This is Yumi story, what she learns from her struggles. That is the most important thing. I learnt many things from her relationship with Babi. We tend to idealize people so quickly if they look kind but not everything looks perfect is indeed great for us. The writers didn't build up a healthy relationship to tear them apart. Babi was secretive, not honest with himself either. That wasn't healthy in a romantic relationship IMO. It would be so much better if they stayed as friends, they could advise each other because Babi looks like a good friend but not a good long term partner. I doubt it but if she goes back to Babi or Woong then it is gonna be reverse progress. I think she realizes now being in a relationship doesn't bring happiness and it would be interesting to watch how she isn't forcing herself for that.

Seeing Woong in Episode 5 made my heart ache so bad 😞 I know that the endgame is Soonrok even if I haven’t read the webtoon (though due the last scenes with Babi I’m not sure anymore) so I don’t know why I feel such attachment towards Woong’s character. Maybe it was the amazing work of Anh Bo Hyun or the powerful chemistry between him and Kim Go Eun, the thing is that I’m afraid Woong will always be my favorite character. He was far to be perfect and his timing at the end of the season was bad as well, still he truly cares for Yumi, both learned a lot during his time together and Woong tried his best even with his pride blocking his way. He feel such a real character to me.

Is it too late? Sadly in many great relationships this is the reality: lack of communication, different stages of life and/or bad timing can ruin a beautiful relationship. And sadly they never ever talk or meet each other again and put an end to this (wether goor or bad end).

Is it really too late?

P.S. At least I really hope Woong can develop his game and become a rich man 💚
