what, it only took me an entire year to participate in @gallacrafts? i just have little non-writing creative drive but you know what i used to do? make a lot of jewelry. so i found these adorable little knitted toques beanies (i did not make them, wish i could knit things that tiny) and i made some earrings out of them 😌 i’m going to wear the fuck out of these in the winter.

shout out to all the creators and of course @smokey-mickey and @whatwouldmickeydo for organizing and inspiration!

A whole year of Gallacrafts!

Guys can you believe that we have all collectively been enjoying the magic of gallacrafts for a whole entire year?? Incredible, show-stopping, amazing, every month gallacrafts posting day makes me so happy to be part of this ragtag crew with all of you, and I am always so impressed by everyone who manages to make something. This being a special month and a theme that immediately spoke to me, I tried my hand at a gallacraft of my very own!

Now, I don't know about all of you guys, but when the theme for this month was revealed, 'you're under my skin', my mind immediately went started screaming POTATO! POTATO! POTATO SKiNS!! DO A POTATO!!!

So I did. Here for you all now, I proudly present what I have dubbed 'Scotch Rarebit Loaded Under My Potato Skins'. SCRALUMPS, for short.

Scotch Rarebit as opposed to Welsh Rarebit, because I put whisky in it in honour of jack daniels.

In my mind, these are a thing that future Mickey makes for weekday dinners for the family or when he has to go to some kid event where everyone has to bring a thing, and all the moms love them and beg him for the recipe.

If you want to make these beauties for yourself, there's some process pictures and actual quantities under the cut.

Recipe quantities:

4 good sized potatoes, halved

350g cheddar cheese or sharp grateable cheese of your choice.

1 egg, beaten

2 tbsp stout or dark beer, eg Guiness

1tbsp whisky/whiskey/bourbon

chives

cream cheese

salt - for the potato innards

Joining the @gallacrafts​ crew in posting my zine entry!  Fair warning to any potential knitters: I have small hands and made these to fit me, so I recommend increasing needle size or adding stitches to the fingers for a good fit.  I also recommend being better at stranded colorwork than me😂

I’ve never tried to write a pattern off my freehanding before, so I hope it makes sense!  If not I’m happy to help anyone troubleshoot or point you to resources for construction and special stitches🥰
