People canonly gossip and comment about kageyama and hinata all the time, like enough to make whole compilations about it on youtube and I've read hq enough times to have favourite instances so top 5 would be

ukai's whole "it's cruel the world kept them apart for this long" spiel I mean, we already know how I feel about this so I'll move on

this one's also something that i couldn't really remove, it's takeda's "chemical reaction" speech, again unparalleled, insane, yes this applies to karasuno as a team too but it's also about kagehina and seriously, y'all, the way this series goes out of it's way to confirm these two are fated soulmates-

3. now we're on more niche ones that i personally am insane about.

This, this right here?? This makes me want to chew on glass and scream into a cave and carve my lungs out with a rusty file. Now there's two readings of this, Kageyama's "we" could be in reference to either Hinata or Karasuno as a whole. Personally, I do think it's both but the text explicitly points us to Hinata so let's talk about how goddamn ridiculous that is because Kageyama's had team issues presumably his entire volleyball career (aka his whole life since he was born chewing on a volleyball) and Hinata was able to gain his trust and have him talk in team terms in less than a couple weeks. Kindaichi here is both reliable observer and an explicit contrast to Kageyama's relationship with Hinata.

(also like the panel after this where kindaichi has complicated feelings about this whole thing because this kageyama is a stranger to him and he's both mourning the person he could've known and the way their relationship turned out and wondering why hinata was able to have this effect on kageyama when he couldn't and kindaichi is just a character of my own heart but that has nothing to do with this so)

4. When Kenma said Kageyama would have no interest in a Hinata that couldn't operate at 100% and KAGEYAMA PROVED HIM WRONG. Kenma's one of the smartest characters in haikyuu. This guy was playing Karasuno like puppets the entire spring tournament match. On top of that, he's also Hinata's best friend which makes him a very reliable source re: kghn commentary and yet, he judges their relationship wrong and it costs Nekoma the match!!! Nekoma lost to Karasuno for the first time because even Kenma with all his knowledge and observation skills misjudged the stubborn trust these two have in each other!!!

5. Hanamaki comparing the quick and by extent Kagehina to a heavenly miracle because i think it just hammers in once again that the very act of these two together is equivalent to some grand cosmic event, something extraordinary, a chemical reaction of the highest order if you will. Nuclear fusion.

Story: The team finding out that someone has given you a love letter.

(I’m sorry if this is a bit sloppy, my mind has not been on the right track lately, and it’s mostly the four 3rd years that get’s a lot of mention in here)

[L.Name] [Name] is Aoba Johsai manager, the team didn't have any manager prior before so the team was really ecstatic to have a manager this year.

And besides, the coach felt like he could only trust them with the position since ever since Oikawa joined the team with the same year as them.

But anyway, it was the usual. The team were having 5 - 5 and such while the coach and assistant coach observe them and them were taking notes of their performance. But [Name] mind kept coming back to the letter that they had found underneath their desk before they went to the gym.

They shook their though and looked back at the team but was only met with a ball growing towards them and hitting them in the face.

The others mouth were wide open as what just happened, they held their head as the team went up to check up on them.

"Oh god! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean it!"

Iwaizumi said panicking walking in front of you.

"Are you alright [L.Name]-senpai?" Yahaba asked as you looked at them with a smile as you shake your hand. "Don't worry, I'm alright. Don-"

"AAAHHHH! [L.Name]-san! Your nose is bleeding!"

The others went to panic mode as everyone was scrambling around at the fact that their precious manager nose was bleeding and Iwaizumi was just apologizing profusely even more.

"Go grab a tissue and instead of running around! You idiots!"

"Yes sir!"

Kindaichi ran towards where they always kept the tissue ran up to the manager with the box and handed it to them, [Name] took some tissue and put it inside their nose to stop the bleeding.

"I'm alright you guys, it's just a bleeding don't worry. And Iwaizumi, please stop bowing." [Name] said as they put their hand on his shoulder.

"All right, all right. You guys go back to practicing now. And [Name], you should go to the infirmary." He said as [Name] nodded and stood up putting the notebook and walked out of the gym to get checked by the nurse.

"Is [L.Name] going to be okay?" Kindaichi said watching the manager walked out of the gym holding their nose. "Don't worry Kindaichi~ it's just a nosebleed. [Name] dealt much more worse than that." Oikawa said patting his shoulder.

"Yeah, like dealing with OIkawa."

"You two!"

"Get back to practice!!"

"Don't worry the bleeding will eventually stop, just sit down at the bed and I will check in a few minutes later if the bleeding stopped." The nurse said as [Name] nodded their head as the nurse walked out of the bed that was covered by a curtain.

They will need a few minutes before they could go back to the gym, they sighed and took out another tissue from the box and took out the tissue from their nose and put it in the new one inside.

While in the gym, practice was already over and everyone was taking a break and the team was talking to each other while drinking water, sitting on the ground and wiping off their sweat. But then Kunimi eyes saw something on the ground, he looked at it and it seems like a paper, or an envelope,

It probably flew inside the gym, he sighed. It was probably from Oikawa fangirls. He went towards the envelope and took it and walked back to the group. “Hey, I found a letter from the ground.” Kunimi said waving the letter around as the others looked at it and then looked at each other.

“It’s probably for Oikawa.”

“Yeah.”

“Aye.”

“All right, just give it to OIkawa. Kunimi.” Iwaizumi said as Kunimi nodded and handed the envelope to the male, Oikawa opened the letter and it seems like it wasn’t really sticking to the paper well. He shrugged it off and took the paper out of it.

He read through the letter but his face contorted when he read the first few words making the others worry. “What is it Oikawa?” Hanamaki said standing.

“Why does your face look so shock?” Iwaizumi said as OIkawa looked at the group. “This is not for me...”

“HUH?!”

‘What do you mean it’s not for you! Every goddamn love letter is always for you!”

“I mean, I don’t wanna brag bu-”

“Shut the fuck up Hanamaki.”

“Ouch.”

Iwaizumi walked up to the male. “So who is it addressed to?” He asked as Oikawa had a horrified look on his face. “It’s addressed... to our precious manager. [L.Name]-chan.” Oikawa said as he crumpled the paper in his hand and started shaking Iwaizumi.

“We can’t let out precious manager be taken by some weird guy!! What if their creepy and dangerous as hell!”

“Calm down Oikawa!”

“What do you mean “calm down”! Our manager is going to be taken!”

“This is not the time to be calm Iwaizmu!”

“We should protect our precious manager!”

“You two are seriously agreeing with Trashykawa right now?!”

“How about let’s all calm-”

“Watari!! How can we be calm whe-” Oikawa was cut off when he was hit in the back of the head by the male. “Calm down! We don’t even know if [Name] returns the feelings!” Iwaizumi said as the others went quiet.

“Ah, you’re right about that.”

Mattsukawa said nodding his head as well as Hanamaki, then they all sat down on the floor as the letter laid down in the middle of the group. They were all staring at it deeply then Iwaizumi spoke. “Oikawa, read the letter.”

“Yes.” Oikawa said crawling and took the letter and went back to his spot adn read the letter out loud for the team to hear.

“Dear [L.Name] [Name],

I am writing this letter to you as I currently have feelings for you, and I have feelings for you ever since our 2nd year. I always watched you from afar and I always want to talk to you but I’m too shy to do it so, and I feel like I don’t deserve to be even near you. I really don’t like at how clingy Oikawa is to you, what is he? A child- AAAH THIS BASTARD!!” Oikawa stop reading the letter as he crumpled the paper even more.

“Yah! Don’t crumble the paper even more!!”

“You’re going to rip it half!”

“But their kinda right to be honest.”

Iwaizumi smacked Oikawa to stop from complaining even further than he is right now. “Continue.” He said as the brown haired male nodded his head and continued reading the letter.

“And I’m also the person who has been sending you those little gifts that you find in your shoe locker, I really hope you appreciated it. I was hoping you would come by in Friday behind the school when school is ended.

Sinceriously, your secret admirer.”

The others were quiet for awhile before chaos ensued in the gym as everyone was panicking especially since the admirer was going to confess this Friday, so creaming could be hear inside the gym making the people outside wondering on was happening inside the gym.

“What are we going to do?!”

“We have to kill them of course!”

“Oh! Nice idea Matsukawa!”

“CALM DOWN! NO ONE IS KILLING ANYONE!!”

They calm down as everyone except for Iwaizumi got on their knees, Iwaizumi sighed and shook his head. “Look, let’s just put the letter back on where it belong and act like nothing happened, all right?” Iwaizumi said as everyone nodded but Hanamaki spoke up.

“But what about [L.Name] secret admirer? They could be dangerous?”

“Yeah!”

“How can we know that?”

Iwaizumi sighed. “No, let’s just investigate and see who it is. And Kunimi put the on [Name] notebook before they get here.” Iwaizumi said as the 1st year nodded and put the letter back on the notebook so that it won’t fly off.

And right in time, [Name] came back and saw everyone practicing and such. The team saw them and walked towards the manager. Asking if they were okay which they replied it they were and Iwaizumi apologized once again before [Name] said it was okay.

“You guys, I'm alright but you should go back to practice now.” [Name] said as they nodded and went back to practicing and [Name] went back to the bench and took the note book and opened it as the letter flied into their lap.

They picked it up and saw how wrinkled it was more than before but they shook thought off but then thought. ’Did the team read the letter?’ They thought but shook it off once again.

A few days later

[L.Name] was starting to think that maybe everyone did read the letter since ever since that day, the team has been way more protective of them lately. Someone would always be there beside them and whenever someone goes to talk to them, they would be glaring hard at them.

And they have to force them to go away since they wouldn’t leave them alone, so she had asked Kindaichi since they know the male will tell them truth and can’t lie to them because he can’t in general. Well, to them not to others.

They saw Kindaichi standing around presumably waiting for Kunimi.

“Kindaichi.” [Name] called out for him, the said male turned around and saw the third year. “A-Ah! [L.Name]-senpai, what are you doing here?” Kindaichi asked. “Oh, I was planning to ask you something actually.” They said.

“All right! You can ask me anything [Name]-senpai!”

“Did you guys somehow read the letter that was given to me?” [Name] asked with a smile on their face, Kindaichi flinched and froze as he was sweating hard under [Name] gaze on him, what was he supposed to do? Tell the truth? Well, that’s the right thing to do but also at the same time. He was trembling heavily on their gaze making it a dead give away to [Name] that they did read the letters.

But of course since three certain third years were noisy little shits, they were following their manager and saw the interaction and were running towards the two and took Kindaichi, since the male was being completely obvious right now.

“Sorry [L.Name]! We need Kindaichi to do something for us!!”

They ran away far from the manager who stood there watching them disappear into the distance.

‘I fucking knew it.’

At Practice

“Kindaichi, you were being obvious back there!!” Hanamaki whispered to the 1st year. “I’m sorry!” He apologized as Iwaizumi walked up to the two. “What are you two whispering about?” He asked as the two looked at him. “[L.Name] had asked him if we had read a letter that was given to them.” Hanamaki said.

“And he was being really obvious about it actually.” Matsukawa said walking towards the three.

“And they probably knows about it right now..”

“Yup.”

The three except for Iwaizumi shrieked and saw [Name] looked at them with a “gentle” smile, they knew they done goofed up since they were basically reading they were not supposed to know especially without [Name] permission. The others were trembling as [Name] let of the gentle smile on their face as they let out a huge sigh.

“Look... I really don’t like it when you guys read through my stuff right?” [Name] said as they all nodded. “And I don’t like it even more when you guys try do something stupid to find out about something, you guys should have confronted to me about it.” [Name] said while shaking their head.

While the others were dumbfounded as they realized on how easy it could’ve been but then again, they didn’t want to face [Name] wrath when they found out that they have been snooping through their stuff. They certainly don’t want that especially the 2nd and 3rd years, the 1st years haven’t experienced it... yet.

“Wait... so we should’ve have asked you about it?” OIkawa said as [Name] nodded. “Of course, I know you guys would be snooping around once you found about the love letter that I had received. You think I would be dumb enough to not know this would happen one day?” [Name] said while raising an eyebrow and their arms crossed.

“We’re sorry.”

“It’s alright.”

[Name] said as they took out the letter. “Also, tomorrow is the day that I’ll be meeting the secret admirer and for your information. I don’t have feelings for this person.” They said as the team let out an relief, but then Kunimi spoke up.

“But [L.Name]-san, do you know the person who wrote the letter to you?” He asked as [Name] nodded their head. “Yeah, I accidently found out while I was walking back to my locker to gets something but enough of that. You guys should go back to practice now before the coach kicks your asses again.”

“Yes!”

That Friday.

“I like you [L.Name]! Please go out with me!”

They bowed in front of them as [Name] looked at them. “I’m sorry but I can’t return the feelings [R.Name].” They said as the bowed while the said person stood up straight.

“O-Oh... is that so...” They awkwardly said since they don’t know what tp say about the rejection that they had received. “I’m really sorry especially since you bought those gifts for me, but I haven’t opened them and I want it to return them to you.” [Name] said as they handed them the bag that was filled with unopened gifts.

“You should give them to another person that returns the feelings for you.” [Name] said as they bowed once again and walked off, [R.Name] looked at the bag as they tried to stop the incoming tears and walked off.

The team was watching the confession behind the wall, they let out a sigh of relief but also at the same time felt bad for the person. Especially since [Name] didn’t open the gift that they had spend money on but they know [Name] can’t accept gifts but specifically the ones romantically for them.

Even though to others, it kinda seem like a jerk move but [Name] just doesn’t open the gifts because they think that they should only open the one if the sender is who they have feelings for. So, they just give the gifts back to them.

[Name] does feel guilty about it since they had spend money on it but it’s basically useless since they don’t have feelings for the person and it would be weird to keep the gifts in general.

The manager saw the team looking behind the wall and approached them. “What are you guys doing here?” They asked as the team stiffened and look to the side. “Uhhh... we were... just watching..” Oikawa said as [Name] sighed and shook their head as the team got away from the wall and stood in front of them.

“Let’s go.”

“Yes.”

The five 3rd years walked together to the gym, it was quiet between the them when Matsukawa spoke. “You guys wanna grab ramen after practice?”

“Yeah.”

‘Sure.”

“Yeah.”

“Yes.”

“It’s Oikawa’s turn to treat us this time.” [Name] said as Oikawa flinched as he knew they would order the most expensive shit on the menu.

“All right...”

WAIT I REALIZED SOMETHING OMFG

CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG THO

So Hinata said before that Kageyama's tosses are amazing, right? (And they are of course) Meanwhile Kindaichi (almost wrote turnip and had to search his name, sorry kiddo it has be a while) said Kageyama's tosses are the worst.

And my realization is that both are right lmao. Kageyama's tosses at that point of time are both amazing and also downright bad.

While Hinata probably knew a few setters in middle school in the girls team, Kageyama was the first guy setter he gets to practice and play with in an actual team - also the dude that BADLY beats his ass during their 30 minutes game. So it's right for him to say that Kag's tosses are amazing. He's experienced how the tosses are so accurate. Pinpointed EXACTLY where his hand would swing. DOWNRIGHT EFFING AMAZING because he was able to get past a block. (almost wrote his iconic line and ALMOST shed some tears) It's like a kid tasting milk without realizing that the beverage game is far and wide and there are a lot of flavors of drinks to explore but for the kid that first milk is /the best/

Then in Kindaichi's point of view, Kageyama's tosses suck because while Kageyama is a talented player all around, his mind sometimes would panic and the only solution he could find is speed. Like they say in Haikyu, the best toss is the toss the spiker can easily spike (or something of the sort) so we all saw how Kindaichi struggled to hit Kag's speedy tosses which resulted in eh awkward hits. Kindaichi has experience, probably experienced hitting some of Oikawa's tosses (and we all know why Oikawa is nicknamed "Great King") that brings out 120% of his teams abilities.

How it started:

You went to pick up a pizza for takeout. You were waiting in line behind Kindaichi. The employee set two boxes on the counter and you both went to grab them. You ended up grabbing the wrong one and when you tried to tell him, he got a little snippy with you. He opened up the box and looked disgusted.

"Uck, who gets these toppings on a pizza?"

"I do," you replied back with a scowl on your face.

When you got home, you realized that his receipt ended up being placed on your pizza box. His phone number was on the receipt. You're not sure what came over you, but you decided to text him and let him know how delicious your pizza was. He sent you a picture of him eating his pizza with the caption "bet it's better than yours".

How it progressed:

The two of you continued your pizza rivalry over text, with each of you claiming that your pizza was better. After about two weeks of off and on texting, Kindaichi responded with something along the lines of "put your money where your mouth is? Let's grab a slice and settle this debate once and for all". You were a little nervous to go back and see him and even more nervous to have him try a slice of your version of pizza.

You both sat in the pizza parlor with your respective boxes of pizza. You each had a slice of the other's on your plate.

"Well, here goes nothing."

You both "clinked" your slices together before taking a bite. You both sat quiet for a few minutes as the two of you ate. You were the first to speak up.

"Not bad. I can see myself including this in my regular rotation."

He continued to sit quietly as he stared at his empty plate. "I...I actually think I like yours more than mine," he finally said, as his face began to flush a deep pink.

You chuckled as you put another slice on his plate.

How would Haikyuu!! Characters react when you cheer them on? PART 2

A/N: Only Aoba Johsai will be in this part! In the first part was Karasuno! Either the third part will be Nekoma or Dateko, whatever you want first :D

Warning: Arguments, a little NSFW, jealousy

Oikawa Tooru:

He didn't expect anything else from you

Sometimes he hinted that he really wanted to see you in a cheerleader outfit

He shows it off to his team (and Tobio)

But after his fans also started to wear cheerleader outfits, he was annoyed

Iwaizumi told Oikawa not to act like that because he should concentrate on the game and not on you

Oikawa always takes a photo of you in that outfit, no matter when, no matter what you´re doing right now

His fans are VERY jealous of you, but they respect that Oikawa found someone he loves

They still give you looks that could kill you

Sometimes you shout his name loudly, which motivates him

You have three different outfits and Oikawa always picks which one to take next

Iwaizumi Hajime:

At first he was uncomfortable seeing you in something like that

He doesn't find you embarrassing, he just never thought you would wear something like that (especially for him)

Oikawa teases him that you look really good in that outfit

You actually wanted to surprise Iwaizumi, but you debated for a long time whether you should really continue doing it (He thought you were forcing yourself and you thought you were embarrassing him)

Iwa can hold himself together even if he thinks you look incredibly good in that outfit

After every game he gives you his jacket because you never take your own clothes with you afterwards

Sometimes you practice the choreography at home and when he catches you, he smiles lovingly at you

He's happy that you're having so much fun supporting him in his hobby

You've been touched a lot, by other guys, but after the first fight everyone knew that you belonged to Iwa

Iwa always wants to pull your skirt lower so that your thighs are covered, but then you always pout

Kindaichi Yutaro:

Poor potato is completely overwhelmed

He turns bright red and can no longer concentrate

Kunimi secretly laughs at him that Kindaichi can't handle it

After every game he always asks you if you really want to do it because he doesn't want to force you

Oikawa always makes double-entendre jokes, but Iwaizumi always takes care of him afterwards

Kindaichi asked you to warn him next time you do this

"But then it's no longer a surprise!" “Believe me, I’ll still be surprised!”

Once when you walked past Hinata and Kageyama, he gave you a kiss and grinned proudly

Kageyama and Hinata still think they just imagined it

He had to go to the bench once because he fainted when he looked up your skirt

Kunimi Akira:

He looks at you the whole time, but with a monotone expression

He sometimes got in trouble from his team for just staring at you

After the game he asked you if you would do it again and you said only if he wanted to

He wants it, so go ahead

He gets tired just watching you dance

Sometimes he has to sigh dreamily and smile when he sees you

Sometimes he plays along better, but sometimes he just doesn't concentrate at all

He always has new clothes for you (sometimes he forgets his own)

He gives everyone angry or pouty looks when they stare at you

Kunimi keeps hearing that you are the complete opposite of him

Kentaro Kyotani:

He couldn't understand his feelings

Is he angry because you just do something like that without asking if he wants it? Is he happy because you want to cheer him on so badly? Is he horny because you look so good in this outfit?

His anger wins and you had an argument the first time you wore something like that

But when you didn't do it after that, he got even angrier and he made you keep cheering him on

You made hand signs with Iwaizumi that he would show you when Kentaro freaked out again

"Kentaro, behave yourself!"

He immediately becomes quiet afterwards because he is ashamed

Most of the time he always wants to yell at you afterward, but he found out that you and Iwaizumi worked it out

Even if he doesn't show it, he thinks you're very cute in this outfit

When someone flirts with you, Kentaro stands right behind you and growls at the person

WHAT I FIRMLY BELIEVE THE HQ BOYS' CANONICAL FAVORITE DRINK (AND SOMETIMES FOOD) ORDERS ARE WITH LITTLE TO NO EXPLANATION

SAWAMURA DAICHI - regular hot drip coffee, probs with a bit of ordinary cream/milk

SUGAWARA KOSHI - iced brown sugar oat milk latte with light ice

AZUMANE ASAHI - a bottle of apple juice but then he gets laughed at so he puts it back and orders a hot honey citrus tea

Makki x m!reader

You could remember when it started, before it had just become a habit. Whenever the team had to load into the bus, you would sit beside Hanamaki. For practice games, for tournaments, whenever it was time to sit on the bus, you would ask Makki to sit with you. You would sit beside him in the gym too, often laughing as he showed you memes on his phone.

When you got the position as the team manager, it was an accident. You’d been dragged to see a practice game by your cousin, who attended the opposing school, and overheard a couple of the other boys in your class complaining that Oikawa was missing. You’d seen him a minute ago flirting with his fans, so without thinking about it, you did what you’d always seen Iwaizumi do, grabbing a ball and chucking it at the back of the boy’s head, “Oikawa! Dumbass, your team is waiting on you!”

“Y/N-Chan! You’ve been hanging out with Iwa-Chan too much!” The brunette whined, but when you turned around to head into the gym, you saw your fellow third years laughing like it was the funniest thing in the world even though Oikawa’s fan club was glaring at you. Iwaizumi had been the one to approach you initially, and you had said no. You didn’t want any part of Oikawa’s fan club being up your ass because you’d be the only non player around the team constantly. Matsukawa was next, just a few days later, and you told him you’d think about it. Hanamaki came last, just over a week after Mattsun, and you hated it. You could never say no Makki, ever since you became seat mates in first year. If he needed a pencil, your notes, anything. But similarly, he never said no to you. You’d asked him for favors before, and he always agreed, sometimes before even hearing what the favor was. So you finally caved.

The first time you needed to get on the bus, Oikawa had called out to you, “Y/N-Chan! I saved you a seat!”

“I would literally rather walk there, Oikawa.” The third years snorted as the captain whined, before you turned to Makki, “I can sit with you, right?”

He looked a little surprised at first, but he was teasing by nature, “You don’t want to sit with the pretty boy?”

You just grinned at him, “But if I sit with you, then I am sitting with the pretty boy.” Mattsun had almost doubled over with laughter as you boarded the bus, leaving a shocked Makki behind.

That’s how it went every time. You would always ask him, and maybe it was giving your crush on him away, maybe you were being too obvious. But you were always hoping it would pay off in the long run.

As you were gathering the stray volleyballs at the end of practice, headphones in place, you were passing by the doors. They were left open, and you could hear the third years talking, Mattsun’s being the first you picked up on as your playlist changed songs, “You’re probably gonna sit with Y/N again, right?”

Without thinking, you paused the music, holding your breath, you heard Makki hum, “I don’t know.”

Iwa snorted, “You always sit with him.”

“He always asks me.” Makki defended, “I just don’t say no. I used to sit with Mattsun before he joined, remember? Don’t make it weird.”

You moved away from the door, pressing play on your music and going back to picking up volleyballs. You felt a little stupid. You’d believed that Makki agreed because he wanted you to sit with him. Not just because you were asking.

You didn’t hear the way Iwa and Mattsun teased him about the way he always hoped that you’d ask him.

The next day, you loaded everything up onto the bus before settling into a seat next to Kindaichi, who looked concerned before glancing around to see if your usual seat mate wasn’t getting on the bus. When Makki and the third years climbed on, you could see the surprise that littered their faces, but you just forced a smile, “Hey guys! I’m gonna talk to Yutaro about his serving, but if you need anything, let me know!”

“Uh- o-okay, Y/N.”

During the practice game, whenever they would break for water you would pass them out, starting with the third years, and end with Kunimi. The opposite order you usually went, leading to you sitting next to the first year, and this time the coach noticed.

“What did you boys do to offend Y/N?”

“Nothing, coach!”

The coach just hummed, watching you for a minute before going back to his clipboard, but he left the third years spiraling at the thought.

You did it again as the team loaded the bus to head home after the game. You had just dropped into the seat beside Yahaba when you felt a hand on your wrist pulling you to your feet, “Wha-“ You landed in the next seat back, Makki beside you with your wrist still in his grasp, “Makki, what the-“

“Stop it!”

“Stop what?” You snapped back.

“Why didn’t you ask me to sit with you?” He was almost whining- you almost could have confused him for Oikawa, “You ask me every time. I even- just-“

His hands flapped uselessly at his sides, “You even what?”

He sighed, almost a pout on his face, and you had to resist the urge to kiss it away, “I brought snacks and stuff for us to share, and I saved all my best new memes to show you today.”

“You sent me memes all last night.”

“But I saved the good ones for today! So I could see you smile in person because it’s not the same over the phone and-“ Makki froze, his eyes wide.

You felt your face burn, “You wanted to make me smile?”

“Psh, duh, we have a very strong bromance.”

You gave him your best deadpan expression, “Okay. I’ll be sitting with Yahaba now.”

“No! Come on, please don’t make me say it. Oikawa will never let me live it down if he hears.”

The voice immediately calling out behind you made Makki bury his face in his hands, “Makki, just say it! If you can’t tell Y/N-Chan, then someone else will and you’ll miss your chance.”

The boy beside you groaned again, “Okay! Okay, I’ll do it. Stop eavesdropping.”

Mattsun snorted, “Literally impossible on a bus, but go off, I guess.”

You turned back to glare at him, “Zip it, meme lord number two.” He sputtered indignantly about being number two while you turned back to Makki, “What is it?”

The pink haired boy looked more nervous than you’d ever seen him, and you’d seen him panicking over games and exams no matter how laid back he usually presented himself. He squeezed his eyes shut…kind of looking like he was hyping himself up? You were a bit confused when he finally opened his mouth, “I was hoping we could phase out the bro part of our bromance.”

You cocked your head to the side, hearing his best friends choke on laughter behind you, “You’ve had months to plan this and that’s the best you could come up with!?”

“Shut it, Mattsun!”

“I’m confused.” You answered, catching his attention again, “Just yesterday you said you only sat with me because I asked you.”

“You heard that?”

“Yes. Which is why I was trying not to bother you today. But is it really so annoying to sit with me?”

“Oh dear god,” Iwa grumbled, “Y/N, what do you get when you take the bro out of a bromance?”

“Two people that are no longer bros?”

“For fucks sake, the word itself!”

“Oh! Roman-“ Your brain skidded to a halt, you hadn’t wanted to let yourself hope that he was even interested in guys, let alone interested in you. You could hear Iwa groan a ‘finally’ as your face flushed a deep red, almost as deep as Makki’s. “You…you like me? Like that?”

“Ha, yeahhh. I’ve been trying to, like, figure out if you open to guys, ya know? I wasn’t sure if that’s why you liked to sit with me, or if you were just more comfortable with me than the others, or-“ His brain stopped processing words as you pressed a kiss to his cheek.

“Yes.” You muttered, ignoring the other players ‘awe’s and ‘ooh’s, “We can take the bro out of our bromance.”

“Yes!” He pumped his fist into the air and you chuckled, “Now I can finally send you all the flirty memes I’ve been saving.”

You grinned at him, “Only if I can send the ones I saved back.”

“Oh dear lord,” Iwa muttered behind you, “If this is how they’re gonna flirt, Can I just quit the team now?”
