“Why can’t you just let me hate you?” Ghost’s words filled the cold air as you blinked in confusion and surprise before looking over at him. He took another breath of his cigarette blowing out a small cloud of smoke, mask just far up enough to almost see the top of his nose. Was he always so beautiful?

“What?” you asked in a half chuckle still taken aback by the question. “I’m not sure what you mean?” you questioned back as he paused long enough to make you wonder if you imagined the whole thing as you turned your head away.

“You always have this look on your face when you stare at me,” he tilted his head still staring ahead as he spoke. “As if you’re always waiting for something.”

“Oh,” you muttered the realization of the little crush you had on your lieutenant had been far from subtle.

“I don’t know what you mean sir.”

“You do.”

Your head turned once more to glance at him but he was already staring at you. The thought alone made your heart flutter, he looked at you. Eyes you could never truly read, ones always colored in a dead gaze. You laughed in disbelief smiling gently, “you’re really something L.T can’t even let a girl down softly.”

“I’m not good for you kid, never will be,” he grumbled from beside you putting his cigarette out.

“I know that’s what I like about you sir.”
