There's a checkbox labelled "Turn off copies of your own comments". This is selected by default. If you deselect it (and save your preferences) then you receive an email for every comment you leave.

But I don't want to get my inbox flooded by Ao3!

Understandable! Luckily, most email clients allow you to set up rules for incoming mail depending on their sender and contents. For instance (using Gmail), I've made it so that these emails skip the inbox, are marked as read, and moved to a label I call my "Comment Collection".

The result? A complete, organised and fully-searchable repository of any comments you leave from this point onwards! Search by fic name, author, date, that one sentence you vividly remember leaving!

I've set up other rules, too, like starring emails that are replies to my comments - I'm always excited to receive them!

I love this system, and I think it's motivated me to leave more comments. I hope that others find it useful too. Happy commenting!

Any Sam and Jay headcannons/hopes for them?

HMMMM...they're not really one of those ships where I form a lot of headcanons really, so I'll just list some things I hope we get to see from them in the future!

- I want to see a flashback of them in the city, before they moved! Either what their jobs or home was like, or maybe how they met? We kind of already know how they met but it'd still be cute to see a pre-relationship version of Sam and Jay! - I want to know what's up with Sam and Jay's family so bad because they've sort of dropped a few hints that Sam isn't too close to his family, which given her desperation for connection and a desire to belong I'm curious to see why that is! It's interesting how she seems to have only just started to get to know Bela despite having been with Jay for at least 5 or so years (this is just a guess, but, they're married, so! - More of Sam trying to help Jay interact with the ghosts now that she really knows how lonely he is, and more keeping him updated on their goings-ons, I would love the idea of the two of them having couples-only gossip sessions about the ghosts before they go to bed, lol, that'd be a fun opener or closer to an episode

for the fact that I dared to write a story for a character from a different fandom.

This is my blog. I have literally never claimed to be one fandom-centric on this blog. My interests are all over the place. They all have their high and low tides, which is why I never try to claim what fandom this blog is for.

If anything, this is my safe space where I choose what to post about whatever I feel like and at the end of the day, it is my goal to share content that brings y'all the same amount of joy it brings to me. So if I decide to switch it up a bit and write for something I am really enjoying at the moment, get with it or get lost. No one is making you interact with my content. If you want to, please do; if you don't, that is totally okay. Do what you want.

I constantly post about the most random of things, from shitty memes to my original content about things I have loved either a day or literally my whole life. If you follow me, I am sure there is something you might still enjoy, but if there isn't, I can understand that too.

But don't you dare to come here and guilt trip or shame me for making content about something that you just so happened not to follow me for.

Over the last month, I have been extremely blocked in my writing, and my last fic really helped me get out of that. It got me out of my comfort zone and inspired me to write so quick I actually shocked myself, so try to understand it from that perspective maybe? I promise you that pressuring people into doing what you want from them and disregarding their feelings won't help anything. That is how you make creators despise their content.

Besides, who said I can only write for one fandom? I have many WIPs that I am in love with and that I want to continue working on. I just need some time and motivation. Is that too much to ask for?

I’m trying to find a way to parse this but like:

Make up culture is bad because of how capitalism has twisted appearance to be a basis of worth and social value. However, humans have been putting stuff on their skin since our ancestors started losing hair (maybe even before?) and ornamentation does have significant historic cultural value outside of modern late-capitalism induced self loathing.

Like. Make-up is not a thing in my immediate family. My mother and older sister? Nothing. My little sister is going to be so lucky to grow up in a space where she won’t have any expectation or support for make-up culture. I know make-up culture a shitty phenomenon; I know it steals time and money and self-worth from people at its worst and at its best feeds back into an appearance based cultural hierarchy.

But. But. There is such a rich and vibrant history to cosmetics outside of what is sold to reinforce that inevitably toxic culture. So many forms of art in face paint and more permanent and interesting body modification! There’s history and traceable evolving styles and intentions! And it fucking sucks that it’s been so corrupted to the point of no longer reflecting it’s original intent of being creative and unique and interesting!

Sometimes it just sounds like ‘don’t have tattoos don’t you know those annoying punks and degenerates have those?’ has just been repackaged as ‘don’t wear make-up don’t you know those annoying preps and conformists do that?’ Like I get what you’re trying to say but there is nuance to these conversations and willfully ignoring that nuance makes you sound ridiculous at best and outright hostile to any deviation from your standards at worst.

The lil corner of the Good Omens fandom that I generally see is getting more and more into publicly declaring that That Theory I Dislike Is Bad And People Who Ascribe To It Should Feel Bad, and I don't know if it's really new, or if I was just lucky enough to generally be missed with that shit the last four years.

Different people's brains work differently, which means they will notice things, form interpretations, maybe come to extremely firm conclusions, all different from each others'. Different from mine, different from yours.

I get that some people think that they have the brain which produces the Objectively Superior theories (and/or which can easily determine which other people's theories are the Objectively Inferior ones). I just really missed the memo where Your Interpretation Is Not My Interpretation (And That's Okay) was dragged out back and fucking shot.
