Today marks the 26th anniversary of the missile attack on Zagreb and the 26th anniversary that my mom, who was a rookie journalist and a single mom with a one year old baby at home, grabbing a mic and her cameraman, running in heels through the city and the rubble and arriving first on the scene of the tragedy and shakily reporting about the attack, with dead bodies of the victims behind her. She was younger than I am now, she was frightened, but still so brave. My mom makes me proud. A lot of people congratulated her for her bravery and quick reaction, foreign media used clips of her to report on what has happened, but all she cared about were the victims and her baby at home. She didn't let this phase her and continued reporting throughout that day, and then when other missiles hit near Zagreb the next day, she went there as well to do her job regardless of how she was feeling. Mom has always had balls of steel.
so an unidentified soviet-made military aircraft crashed in zagreb, croatia (and that is nato airspace may i remind you) and no one knows how or why or where it came from (apparently it flew over hungary for 40 minutes; ukraine says it’s not theirs) so i guess that’s where we at today. might as well happen
