Zakari's Thoughts on Division Leaders

Ichiro Yamada

"I don't know much about Ichiro-kun, surprisingly. I mean, we've talked a few times, but nothing really major or big. I know he used to be in one of the most killer rap groups of all time, though. And he's the older brother of his younger bros, Jiro and Saburo, both of whom are pretty good friends of mine. But both mom and dad says he's a good guy, so he must be. I mean, considering he's taking care of both of his bros, he's got to be, right?"

Samatoki Aohitsugi

"My mom warned me that if I ever venture in Yokohama to be wary of this man. Truthfully, she didn't have too. Lucille has told me that Sakura-san and the Kito-gumi have had a few minor run-ins with Samatoki and the Katen family. As lucky as I am, even I'm not dumb enough to get in the middle of a feud between Yakuza families, even if they are in peace right now."

Ramuda Amemura

"Like Ichiro, I don't know much about Ramuda either. I only really hang out with him when I'm with Dice in Shibuya. I'll admit though, the guy makes some killer clothing. I saw a bunch of clothes that he had just finished designing, and I blew through my entire cash buying all of them. Boy, my parents were pissed that day when they saw the bill in the mail the following week! But I have no regrets. Those clothes were too good to pass up!"

Jakurai Jinguji

"Jakurai-sensei... I'll admit, he's a pretty good doctor. I went with my mom to get my yearly checkup, but the doctor we normally go to was unavailable. One of the nurses recommended Jakurai-sensei in Shinjuku, so we went. Despite his looks, he was surprisingly gentle and kind. I wouldn't mind him being my permanent physician from now on."

Sasara Nurude

"I love Sasara! His comedy routine is always fun to listen to! Whenever he's doing a show, I always make sure to head to Osaka to go watch him perform. It's a shame my mom is so busy with the nightclub that she isn't able to come with me. And my dad... I think God or whoever must have forgot to give him a 'funny bone' or something..."

Kuko Harai

"Kuko is one of my best friends! I don't go to Nagoya often, but I always make sure to stop in and see him when I do visit. He's a rambunctious guy who knows how to have fun, even if he is a monk. Honestly, I don't know why people give him so much grief about his attitude and persona. I mean, the guy's only 18! It's not like he'll be a monk forever! Truthfully, I was talking with him, and I told him it's a shame he's not a rock star or something like his friend, Jyushi. I mean, he's already got the look and attitude for it. All he needs is a band, some instruments and he could be the newest musician to show up on the rock scene!"

Zakari's Thoughts on Second Members

Jiro Yamada

"Jiro is one of my close friends! He and I met a few years back when he was in the orphanage and in middle school. Kind of ironic that we're both in high school together despite being five years apart. When we aren't doing schoolwork together, I like to play games of chance with him. I think he likes seeing me perform dangerous stunts cause he's always afraid I'll chicken out. Joke's on him, though. There's pretty much nothing I won't do if it gets me a rush!"

Jyuto Iruma

"Urgh, my parents have the right idea with this guy. Can you believe he once tried to give me a ticket for performing parkour in my own neighborhood? He claimed I was "disturbing the peace" or some shit, like that. Buddy, pretty much everyone in Roppongi and Minato knows I do this shit in my spare time. In fact, they pretty much love seeing me hop to and fro. So saying I'm "disturbing the peace" is just a sad excuse to want to give someone a fine. Nice try, though."

Gentaro Yumeno

"I'm not as close to Gentaro as I am to Dice, but he's still a pretty cool guy... with a unique fashion sense. I know people get on him for his constant lying, but considering he's a writer, it's no surprise everything he says may or may not be the truth. He and I actually have a little side bet going on. If I can catch him in one of his lies before the month is over, then he has to feature me as a character in one of his next stories! But if I don't, I have to pay for the editing and publishing of his next book. I'm really looking forward to it!"

Hifumi Izanami

"Far be it for me to judge someone's phobias, but I really don't get Hifumi's. When he has his jacket on, he's a flirtatious playboy. But when he takes off, he develops a very bad case of gynophobia? Maybe he should consider seeing a psychiatrist. ...A 'male' one."

Rosho Tsutsujimori

"Rosho-sensei... I've heard about his fear of speaking in front of large crowds. Kind of a shocker considering he used to be a comedian along with Sasara-san. A shame he broke up a good thing, though. And jumping from comedy to teaching? Talk about a leap. Still, the guy does teach fairly well when he manages to work up the nerve. I'm glad I only have online classes with him, though."

Jyushi Aimono

"I know Jyushi mainly because of Kuko, but his band, ArgoξOrchestra, isn't bad either. He sounds a lot different on stage than he does usually, but considering he's a musician, that's kind of a given. I noticed he carries around a stuffed pig with him. He calls it 'Amanda'. Apparently, it was a gift from his grandmother, so he carries it as some sort of security blanket. Not that I'm judging, of course. We all need something to help us face this huge and dangerous world. Me, all I need is my parents and my luck!"

Saburo Yamada

"Saburo's another good friend of mine, though I'm not as close to him as I am to his older brothers. Still, it's kind of a shock that he's only in middle school considering how smart he is. It also doesn't help that he's the youngest person in the D.R.B., or that his birthday comes late in the year, like mine. But he's still a cool guy, despite his personality. I'm actually teaching him how to play games of chance. He's pretty good! Unlike Jiro, he's got a killer poker face!"

Rio Mason Busujima

"I met Rio while exploring Yokohama once. Normally, I try to keep within the city. Venturing on the outskirts is a bit boring since there aren't a lot of high places to jump from. But curiosity got the better of me, so I decided to head towards the woodlands. I certainly wasn't expecting to find someone living, least of all a former army official. He was pretty nice, though. We played a few card games, and he was surprisingly good. I don't know if he played before, or if he was good at keeping a straight face, but he actually beat me a few times. To thank me, he gave me some of his homemade food. I know it looked gross, but it actually tasted pretty good!"

Dice Arisugawa

"Ugh, I wish my parents would get off my back about Dice and me being friends. He and I are one and the same, so it's no surprise we're cool with each other. Apparently, they're afraid that he's going to drag me down with him. But how do they know it's not the opposite? How do they know I'm not the one dragging him down? But this is just one of those topics where the three of us agree to disagree. My dad says I can do what I want, but he's not responsible for what I do as a result. Gee, thanks pop."

"Besides that, it's because of Dice that I was able to meet Lucille. I know she was frustrated that I beat her, but now... well, we'll pretty happy with each other, even if I do know that she's probably biding her time to try to trap me in something. But hey, I'm looking forward to it!"

Doppo Kannonzaka

"This guy... he both infuriates and worries me. Why? Well, for one thing, I've seen what this guy can do when he's pissed off. He's got a surprisingly hot temper. So what I want to know is, why the hell doesn't he use that temper to knock the people who are bothering him at his job, huh?! I mean, if someone was bothering me as much as those folks at his job do, I would have gone off a long, long time ago! But no, he chooses to just go through with it! It's no wonder his boss and co-workers walk all over him! And then he has the gall to get upset at Dice for trying to earn money an easy way! Why don't you try changing you work environment before you judge someone, you cowardly piece of crap!"

"...Anyway, that's why this guy infuriates me. But the reason he worries me... it's because I'm afraid that I may have to become like him someday: a regular officer worker making minimum wage, doing the same crap every day. Sorry, but that's not for me. If the choice is between living like Doppo or living like Dice, I'll take Dice's way of living any day of the week."

Rei Amayado

"...I'll just say it plainly: I don't like this guy. I don't know what reason he has for abandoning his own sons, and I don't care. There is no excuse in the world for it. And then, after revealing yourself to your sons, instead of apologizing to them, you choose to just go back to doing what you've been doing, being a lapdog for the government, while conning people out of their funds. I know I bitched at Doppo, but at least that guy is working to earn his money, no matter how bad his work environment is. You should take a page out of his book, pal."

Hitoya Amaguni

"I don't know Hitoya all that well. When I go to Nagoya, it's mainly to hang out with Kuko and Jyushi. Hitoya sometimes joins in, but it's more out to keep an eye on us than actually trying to participate. He reminds more of a grumpy uncle than anything. ...I wonder what would happen if Kuko and I started calling him that. Oh, the look on his face! We've got to try that out sometime!"

Ichiro Yamada

"Ichiro is the only other person that I really talk to when I go to the PTA meetings, besides Yuriko from Edogawa. I'll admit, I was first surprised to see him there, but considering he's taking care of both of his younger brothers and is the only one with an actual job, I suppose that makes him the breadwinner for his family. He doesn't seem to mind, but I hope he remembers to pace himself. And I hope he remembers, he's the boys' older brother, not their father."

Samatoki Aohitsugi

"This man is the sole reason why I don't go to Yokohama. I have no love for Yakuza or organized crime. They bring too many bad memories of my time as an adult actress. Sakura from Shizuoka is the closest I deal with when it comes to the Yakuza. And that's only because she is friends with Reika. I told Zakari to be wary of this man if he should ever venture in Yokohama. He said he would, but I still can't help but worry..."

Ramuda Amemura

"This may not be a surprise, but I'm a huge fan of fashion. And Ramuda's clothing line, 'Empty Candy', is perhaps one of my favorite brands. It's hard to believe that he is a decade younger than me and Kai considering how young he is. Speaking of which, Kai said that Ramuda is a good man, but he warned me to be wary of him. I don't know why, but... I suppose my husband knows best after working with him."

Jakurai Jinguji

"Admittedly, I don't know much about Jakurai, save that he and his team won the first D.R.B. He seems like a good man, but it seems like he's tired from something. It could just be me, but I get the feeling that he's struggling with something, both internally and externally. Despite that, he is a good physician. I took Zakari to see him a year or so ago, and he did good work. I'd recommend him to anyone in need of a doctor."

Sasara Nurude

"I'm not as big a fan of him as Zakari is, but I do enjoy Sasara's comedy routine. It's sad that Kai doesn't have a sense of humor like me and Zakari have, but I suppose that's one of things I love about him. Still, I'll have to find a chance to get tickets for all three of us to go see his show in Osaka next time."

Kuko Harai

"Like Kai mentioned, this young man is not at all the textbook definition of what a monk should portray himself as. I'm not a Buddhist, though I have been to the temples here in Minato a few times. But still, maybe this guy's father or whoever is in charge of his temple should consider re-educating him."

Jiro Yamada

"I've met Ichiro's younger brothers a few times in the past. Both of them were... well, let's just say they both left an impression. Most definitely the middle brother, Jiro. He was a bit of a delinquent, but he had a good head on his shoulders. Still, he really needs to start thinking before he opens his mouth. He and Zakari share that common trait with one another. Maybe that's why they get along so well."

Jyuto Iruma

"Let me state now for the record: I have absolutely nothing against cops. As long as they leave me and mine alone, they'll have no drama from me. But this cop... I don't know how many times my wife and I have had to throw him out of our nightclub for badgering the customers. I told him the next time he shows up here without a warrant, I'm calling the real police and having him arrested. Seems he was smart enough to get the message, considering we haven't seen him back here since."

Gentaro Yumeno

"You might find this hard to believe, but this young man's books are actually my favorite kind of books to read. He is a very gifted author, and the books he writes actually give me a lot to think about, which I use to write and compose most of my music. Most people don't realize, books can be quite inspirational pieces. All we have to do is look at them a certain way."

Hifumi Izanami

"My wife knows more about Hifumi than I do. Apparently, he works as a host at some sort of club in Shinjuku. I've never really understood the point of those kind of clubs. I mean, what exactly do you do there that can't you do in a regular nightclub? You're paying some man or woman just to sit down and have a talk with you? I mean, I guess I can see the appeal for some people. But me? If I need someone to talk to, that's what my lovely wife is for."

Rosho Tsutsujimori

"I don't know much about this man, save for the fact that he's one of Zakari's teachers. Apparently, he used to be part of a comedy duo along with Sasara, but quit for some reason. Apparently, his quitting didn't ruin their friendship since the two of them are part of the same rap team. But yeah, other than that, I don't know much about him."

Jyushi Aimono

"Jyushi is quite a talented musician. When I was asked to produce some of the music for his band, ArgoξOrchestra, I was a bit surprised. Mainly because I felt that I was out of my element. I still took the job, of course, but after listening to several of their songs, I needed to do some research to make sure the sound was just right. I spent the better part of a week listening to nothing but classical music and music you might have heard during the Jacobean era. It was definitely a challenge. But I think I did fairly well."

"Aside from that, Jyushi, I've noticed, has a separate persona. On stage, he is very... grandiose and pretentious, speaking in a larger-than-life voice. However, when he is alone, or with people he can trust, he'll shift back into a... sad, childlike persona. I'm guessing his stage persona is his way of keeping people at arm's length. I hope he gets over it someday."

Jiro Yamada

"Ichiro's younger brother, if I'm not mistaken. I've seen him trying to sneak into Gypsy's Palace on more than one occasion. Apparently, he failed to realize that he's famous throughout Japan, so him trying to use a fake ID to sneak in was bound to end badly. Don't get me wrong, I never want to keep someone from having a good time, but the last thing I, or my family, needs is to get hit with a lawsuit for letting underaged teenagers in."

Jyuto Iruma

"Argh, like my husband stated, I've had to throw this fake cop out of my club on more than one occasion. The guy claims he's there searching for criminals, but I know he's actually there just to start drama or plant evidence to get me or someone else in trouble. I know he's trying to get rid of drugs in Japan, and I have no issue with him in that regard. But you're not going to put me, my nightclub, or my family at risk for your little crusade."

Gentaro Yumeno

"My husband is a big fan of this man's books. Me, I'll admit he's a good author, but he really needs to learn to stop lying so much. I'm well-aware you need to tell white lies now and then in order to get ahead. But it seems like this guy just lies for the heck of it. ...On the other hand, someone with his talents would be of use for my casino. Maybe I should reach out and ask him if he's willing to work part-time here."

Hifumi Izanami

"I know Hifumi since I visit the 'Fragrance Club' in Shinjuku from time to time. Normally, I wouldn't go to clubs such as that, but Aika recommended it so I decided to give it a shot. Hifumi was very nice and charming to talk to. But while we talked, I noticed that he kept a firm hold on his suit jacket. I didn't understand why until he did remove it. At the first sight at one of the other female patrons, he suddenly screamed out loud and ran far away."

"I later found out from Aika he has a condition where he gets scared of any female who comes in close contact with him without his suit jacket on. Honestly, I've seen scenarios like him when I was young when my mom forced me into beauty pageants. Most kids would have to... shall we, 'condition' themselves in order to participate. Sometimes, it would work. Other times... well, best not to bring that up..."

Rosho Tsutsujimori

"Like Kai stated, I'm not entirely familiar with Rosho, save for the fact that he's one of Zakari's teachers. He seems educated, but from what Zakari tells me, he apparently has a condition where he's afraid to speak in front of more than a certain number of people. ...Like I stated with Hifumi, some of the kids in those beauty pageants had issues like that, as well. It got to the point where their parents actually had to drag them onto stage. Some of them fainted on the spot, others urinated on themselves, and others... yeah, let's not expound on that..."

Jyushi Aimono

"Can you believe Kai actually produced music for this young man's band? I've heard some of their music, and I'll admit, it's quite nice to listen to. I haven't invited them here to Gypsy's Palace, but perhaps I should. Besides that, I rather like this young man's appearance, attire wise. His persona though... when Kai told me that his actual voice is a lot different from how he sounds on stage, I wasn't too surprised. All artists like to make themselves sound different on the radio or T.V. Me, I'm quite fine with the way I talk, thanks."

Saburo Yamada

"The youngest of the Yamada brothers. Surprisingly, unlike his older brother, Jiro, he struck me as being a lot more... forward with his way of thinking. He didn't mince words, no matter whether they were nice or not. Still, I could tell that he really respected Ichiro. But he should be careful his respect and admiration for his oldest brother doesn't turn into blind devotion."

Rio Mason Busujima

"I've never met this man, though I can tell from his outfit and poise that he used to serve in the army. He seems like a dignified person. Why someone like him chooses to hang around with Samatoki and Jyuto, I'll never know."

Dice Arisugawa

"Sorry, but you'll have to ask Zakari about this young man. I know the two of them are good friends, but I really do not care for him. I mean, I don't blame the guy for liking to gamble. "...I don't trust this guy. I don't know what it is about him, but I don't like him. He has a dangerous, cunning glint in his eye. He plays the part of a charming gentleman, but I know there's more to him than meets the eye. So far, he hasn't done anything to warrant my attention. But if I find out he's up to something that pertains to my family or our establishment, he won't get away with it."

Hitoya Amaguni

"Unlike his teammates, I don't know much about Hitoya, save the fact that he's a well-known lawyer. I hear he charges different prices depending on the type of case you have. However, when it comes to bullying, he'll gladly do the case pro bono. There's probably a story there, but I'm not interested enough to find out."

Mireya's Thoughts on Third Members

Saburo Yamada

"The youngest of the Yamada brothers, and the youngest participant in the D.R.B. to date. Not to criticize Ichiro, but I wonder what was going through his mind when he let his youngest brother join. I mean, far be it for me to judge. After all, despite his age, the boy raps very well. Plus, he's far smarter than most children his own age (and adults, sadly enough). Still, I hope he takes care not to get hurt in this competition."

Rio Mason Busujima

"Zakari actually brought some of this man's food home once from his trip in Yokohama. I'm not entirely sure how they met, but apparently, the army man gave my son some food to bring back with him. It was... interesting, to say the least. Not exactly the tastiest food I've ever eaten, but... far from the worst. Still, perhaps he should do better with making the food look more... presentable."

Dice Arisugawa

"Ugh, not to quote my husband, but I don't approve of my son's friendship with this young man, either. He comes around my nightclub every time he is in town, and immediately heads straight to the casino, losing almost every game he plays. If not for my son enabling him, which, by the way, I do not condone, I'd hate to see where this young man would end up. If you're going to gamble son, you should, at least, make sure you have enough cash left in your pocket for you to have something to eat afterward."

Doppo Kannonzaka

"I don't want to judge someone, especially if they are as hard-working as Doppo. But I can't help but feel that he might be a glutton for punishment. What other reason is there for him to be working in a place that treats him as little more than a slave? He reminds me so much of myself when I was younger. Oh, I had a fake smile on my face, but inwardly, I hated every second of my life. And my mom's lifestyle didn't make it any easier. Eventually, I just got fed up with it and just let all my anger and frustration out. Doppo should take a page out of my book and do the same to his co-workers and boss."

Rei Amayado

"I mirror my husband's opinion on this man. Something about him doesn't sit right with me. Perhaps it has something to do with the fact that he's constantly planning something or the dangerous glint in his eyes. But really, I think it may have something to do with the fact that he left three young boys on their own while he went and joined the government to do, who-knows-what. ...I'll say this now: if he tries anything in my club, important government official or not, I'm throwing him, not just out of my club, but out of my city."

Hitoya Amaguni

"A famous lawyer. From what I hear, he'll do bullying cases pro bono. I don't think there should come a time when we'll ever need his services, but it's good to know we have a lawyer just in case. ...But then again, I've heard about a female lawyer who lives in Ueno who also has a fierce reputation. ...Well, it's good to know we have options, I guess."
