Uhhhh here's a familial swk hc that's been rotting my brain

Wukong and Erlang (in the early days... Idk pick an era) would race eachother down their respective mountains. I like to think they wouldn't use powers and would just use sleds for added fun or maybe chariots (although I don't know if China actually had any racing chariots... *shrugs*).

They never could decide who actually won so eventually they had to get Zhizhu and Baigujing to judge... which just ended up with both Wukong and Erlang bribing their sisters to favour them so no one ever really could decide who was actually better at it.

(The song "Faster" from the Prince of Egypt musical has given me the perfect visual in my head for this and I really wanna draw it).

GOD... NOT THE PRINCE OF EGYPT REFERENCE 😭😭😭

I love that so much though? The idea of those brief open years in Heaven where SWK would just follow Erlang around and be with him and Baigujing and Zhizhu?

(the fact that that implies Zhizhu was a celestial or associated with them enough to be near them makes me so sad because it means she was probably casted out or something aaaAAAA)

BUT gods SWK probably thinks of it when he wants to think of good memories between him and Erlang </3

Imagine Macaque getting endearingly clingy to Queenie after a bad dream

He’s tired and out of it to the point where when she was readjusting herself, leading him to think she would leave a cacophony of chirps and soft noises erupted from the half asleep monkey

extra credit if this is how she hears him purr for the first time, leading to her later forever chasing said purring in every way she could

(I have shadowvemon on the brain and it won’t let me rest)

She woke up with her legs asleep.

Zhizhu blinked tiredly in her room’s darkness. She couldn’t move her legs, even as her spine complained at her current sleep position. Her legs were filled with pins and needles and even as she tried to move, she couldn’t.

That weight shifted.

She propped herself on her elbows and looked down in confusion.

Oh. Macaque had, somehow, worked his way from the pillow next to her down to curl up at the bottom of the bed and onto her legs. That explained the weight. Zhizhu would’ve been more than happy to let him sleep, but she needed to move her position somehow.

Carefully, Zhizhu pulled her leg back. There was a groan from the monkey and she paused. When she was sure he had settled back down, she began to move again. Pulling away the next leg, avoiding how weird it felt, Zhizhu sighed in relief.

Now, to-

Arms wrapped around her hips and a face buried itself in her midriff. She glanced down, seeing Macaque's shoulders slightly shake. A soft chirp was more felt against her skin than heard, but it was clear what he meant.

Don’t go.

Zhizhu smiled, gently reaching down and running her fingers through his fur. “Don’t worry, Moon Boy,” she cooed softly. “Not going anywhere.” Under her fingers, she felt him relax.

Then a strange vibration rolled through her skin.

“...are…are you purring?”

“Mmf.”

Paws of Destiny Zhizhu Headcanons:

Zhizhu was once apart of the Sacred Arachnid clan as a silk weaver- someone who made tapestries and clothing out of his silk. But after a clan war left him as one of the last surviving members, he came to the Four Constellations to learn how to fight so that he would never be victimized again. But under their mentorship, he found a purpose higher than revenge; he became the guardian of the sacred Wellspring, and the weapon of the Four Constellations, devoted entirely to protecting the sanctity of chi. Eventually his long vigil in the Wellspring's proximity turned him immortal, and over the centuries he slowly forgot his art. However, with MeiMei's help he's beginning to reclaim it again. His current favorite thing to make is baby clothes, and he makes all sorts of things for all of the new baby pandas.
