Size kInk, mirror sex, slight choking
Tumblr media
He is the wealthiest dragon across teyvat. It makes sense. Afterall, he is the Dragon who in itself is a symbol of a king in Liyue. The king of wealth who created mora and a new way to live a life.
Being a king comes with it's perk's but not always a good and smooth ride. Most of the times he would feel guilty or even insecure because os the criminals who end up stealing just for a mora, a form of money he created.
Despite that, he knew he can't do anything about it but to give a stricter rule, creating a very cunning or intelligent people who learn about the art of money in such a early age.
Being so stressed out of his mind makes him go crazy. Luckily for him, he have you. Beautiful wife, submissive, always there for his beck and call.
Zhongli would always makes sure the kingdom to be safe, not only for the people but also for you. He stayed sane because of you, his perfect little wife. Perfect little cunt, perfect little mouth who knows nothing but whine and moans whenever he touches you.
He holds your chin gently, guiding your face to the beautiful mirror with gold accents on each corner. He pulled you back while he sat on his chair, holding your hand back as your body arch Forward, nipple perking up.
His cock bulge on your stomach, as a smile present oh so handsomely on his face. Beads of sweats dripping down from your temple alongside the filthy drool that droop from the corner of your mouth.
Tongue out, eyes trying to focus to the mirror. He held you as he shuffle around a little to fix his posture, pushing his big cock deeper into your stomach as your feet curls. "Zhonh-haaaa" you whine as every time you move, his cock would be moving inside you.
Zhongli slowly pulled your body back, making you lean on him as your stomach also moved, making his cock more visible. He slowly creep his hand up to your neck and the other caresses your stomach "Pretty wife. So perfect" he grunted between his words and thrust his cock making you choke on your spit.
He gave a little power to his grip on your neck as he pound your pussy, no mercy needed when you're already at his feet right? Your tongue rolled out, he pushes one of his finger inside your mouth as you blabble away to your hearts content.
"Beautiful. Perfect. My perfect. Slutty wife" he trust hard in every single word. You can feel his cock throb before he gave a one last push and ropes of cum filling you up. "Ah-haaa! Zhongy Zhongy ghood" you said almost drunkly.
Tears are running down as now you are coming down from your high, a soft hiccups and mumble of "Zhongli" pours out. He snuggle his face and kisses your neck "You did good honey, it's okay, I got you" hia velvet voice filled your ear just like how his cum filled your pussy.
Zhongli keeps taking peek at the mirror, looking at your every move, making sure to not miss any moment. His cum dribbling down your pussy to the floor. He smiles and kisses your mouth, greedily ravaging it.
"Take the rest while you can dear, I am not done yet"

Zhongli x Female Reader NSFW 1.4k CW: Breeding, Sex, Corruption, Loss Of Virginity, Claming
"Zhongli, I'm ready… I want you."
When you finally uttered those words, there was an immediate change in Zhongli. The once soft and chaste kiss turned into something more passionate, more needy. You could hardly even keep up as it felt like he was enveloping you, his hands running all around your body, pulling you against him. His hands soon trailed down your hips, gripping your plush ass as he lifted you up. He carried you as though you were weightless, kicking open the door to his bedroom without breaking the kiss you two shared.
Zhongli had been the perfect gentleman all this time, but he wasn't sure how long he could hold himself back. You looked so beautiful like this, laying back on his bed as he hovered over you, your hair splayed around your head. You looked like an angel, and part of him wanted to see that pure expression change into something sinful. He's been holding back thoughts of corrupting your innocence for so long, and he couldn't wait to have you.
He leaned down over you, trailing open-mouthed kisses down your neck, grazing your flesh with his teeth. He planned on ravaging every inch of your body tonight, memorizing your sweet taste with his lips. He planned on claiming you as his. He wanted to own you, to take you whenever he wanted.
"Darling… I don't think I can control myself around you… Look me in the eyes and tell me you want this one more time."
"I want you, Zhongli; I'm yours."
He would never get tired of hearing those words, I'm Yours. It was everything he wanted to hear, and he would make sure everyone else in Liyue knew it too. He wasted no time grabbing the top of your dress, yanking down the loose fabric of your sundress down your body, exposing your breasts to him. They were pert and round, fitting in his hands so perfectly. He couldn't help but dip his head down to your chest, his tongue darting out to taste the sweet flesh between your breasts.
"You taste like the sweetest ambrosia, my Love" Zhongli moved to your left breast, gently taking your nipple in his mouth, sucking lightly on it before flicking his tongue across the hard nub. Your sweet moans were like music to him, and he wanted to hear more of them. He wanted to listen to you become a whining mess, begging him to take your body as his own.
You couldn't help the blush on your cheeks as he helped take your dress the rest of the way off, guiding your hips up to pull the fabric down your legs. Now only left in your panties, he could see the wet spot forming on them, which only fueled his lust for you. He was the only one who could make you feel this way, the only one to make your body react to his touches.
He sat on his knees between your slightly spread legs, looking down at your beautiful body as he started to undress. He slowly unbuttoned his black shirt, exposing each inch of his toned chest and abs. There was no time to fold and put away either of your clothes. Instead, he just tossed them somewhere in the room. It wasn't long after he had his pants unbuttoned, standing up from the bed long enough to tug them and his underwear down. It was the first time you had seen a cock, much less one so thick as Zhongli's. Your gawking made him smirk as he slowly climbed back on the bed, caging you against the mattress.
"Don't worry…. I'll make sure you're ready for me."
He kissed your lips sweetly as he ran his hands down your sides, his fingers slipping under the hem of your panties, tugging them down your legs. He ran his hand up and down your thigh, inching closer to your cunt with each pass of his hand. He was teasing you, enjoying the way your breath caught in your throat each time he almost touched you. But not even Zhongli could resist any longer, trailing his hand up to your cunt, running his finger through your slick folds.
He pulled you in for another kiss as he started toying with your clit, rubbing the little nub in slow circles with his thumb. He prodded at your entrance with his middle finger, slowly sliding it into your cunt to his knuckle. Soon after he curled his finger, hitting the sweet spot inside you that sent shivers down your spine. After thousands of years, he was quite the expert, playing your body like it was a violin.
"Feels good?"
You couldn't even respond verbally, just nodding your head. You were so embarrassed that you reacted this way from his finger. But to Zhongli, it was nothing of the sort. Knowing he made you feel so good sent a rush straight to his hard cock. He took his time working his finger inside you, eventually inserting another one, scissoring your cunt open with them. His fingers were enough to have you writhing under him, your sweet moans echoing in the room as you held on to his muscular arms.
"I think you are ready, my love" Zhongli pulled his fingers out of your cunt, looking down at you as he brought them up to his lips. Watching as he sucked your juices off the digits was such a sinful sight. You looked so cute, all doe-eyed and shocked at the view above you… He couldn't wait for a direct taste of your cunt, but you two had all night for that.
He sat up as he lined his cock up with your cunt, running his tip along your folds. His precum mixed with your own juices, and the sight was enough to make Zhongli shiver. He wanted to watch as he slid his cock inside you, your cunt stretching around his length. He took it slow for you, gently pushing the tip inside you, sinking inch by inch into your warm cunt. It was hard not to slam inside you, rip your virginity from you in one fell swoop. But, he loved you too much to give into those thoughts, taking his time till he was entirely inside you.
"Zhongli… It hurts"
He gently shushed you, kissing away the tears that started running down your cheeks. "I know, darling… but I promise it will pass soon." He distracted you with sweet nothings and passionate kisses, distracting you from the pain until you were ready for him. You didn't even have to say anything to him; the look in your eyes was enough for him to know.
He slowly pulled out till just the tip was inside you before slamming back into your hips, both of you moaning loudly. You were in pure bliss as he started thrusting over and over, the sound of skin slapping echoing in the room. You had such a sinful expression on your face, your mouth hanging open as his name and sweet whines fell from your lips.
This was everything that Zhongli ever wanted. He would never tire of the sight of your face contorted in pleasure, how your body took his cock perfectly like you were made for him. You were his, and nobody would get in the way of that.
He sped up his thrusts until you cried out for him, your nails clawing at his back as you desperately held on to him. It was all so much for your first time, yet it was everything you could have wanted. The way Zhongli looked down at you in pure adoration, the way he made you feel, it was all perfect. You knew you were getting close to your orgasm, the coil in your abdomen growing tighter and tighter until you were crying out Zhongli's name, your orgasm tossing you into pure ecstasy.
Your cunt spasming around Zhongli's cock sent him right over the edge after you. Then, with one final thrust, he buried himself in your cunt, filling your womb with his cum, claiming you as his. He rutted his hips into you throughout both of your orgasms, slowly bringing both of you back down.
Zhongli carefully laid next to you, keeping his cock resting deep within your cunt as he held you close. He gently ran his hand up and down your back, whispering sweet praises. Once you caught your breath, you looked up at him with a sweet smile.
"We should go shower before we get too comfortable.
"Oh, Darling, do you really think we were done yet?"

zhongli x f.reader. explicit. semi-public sex, vaginal sex, creampie. an. wrote this in honor of zhongli banner re-run, may you get geo daddy and his constellations if you pull for him!!!
Tumblr media
zhongli holds you steady when you're on top of him, legs spread lazily, to accommodate you in between him. your tucked against the corner of a bookshelf with your legs wrapped around his slutty waist, the heels of your feet digging into his hips.
"quiet, darling," he mutters, even as he himself struggles to keep quiet himself. the two of you are supposed to be studying. studying for something...something that you fail to remember when he rolls his hips up, angling his cock to hit that soft spot that makes you keen.
"fuck--"
ah," he mumbles delightedly as if he just learned some new history fact. "there it is, that spot you like so much. let's give it some more love, shall we?"
you're about to tell him that if he does, you'll probably yell from the pleasure, but he does it before you can say anything, thrusting his hard length back into your slick cunt and capturing your lips in his to muffle your cries.
"i said to be quiet," he whispers savagely as he begins to set an unrelenting pace, pulling out and thrusting deep, relishing the way your pussy flutters around his cock.
"i can't," you whimper, shaking your head, squirming in his grasp. it's heady, the mix of sweat and musk in the air swarms your senses in the small space, and when zhongli kisses you again, his long, forked tongue spearing against yours in time to his thrusts, you feel yourself strung so tight, so close to cumming that all it takes is one more hard, delicious thrust, for everything to come crashing down on you.
zhongli groans hard into your shoulder and shudders against you, holding you close as he spills inside you before pulling out, a thick ribbon of sticky white cum connecting the two of you.
"zhongli!"
you quickly smooth out your skirt and shirt as quickly as you can, fervor in every movement.
"zhongli!" the voice is close enough now that you recognize it as childe's. "where are you?"
zhongli rolls his eyes at the sound of the man, but his voice is anything but annoyed when he speaks to you.
"i told you to be quiet, love. or did you want childe to see and hear you?"
you turn bright pink before turning to leave but not before he stops you and places something wet in your hands.
"you forgot your panties, darling." he smiles sweetly. "or did you want me to keep them for you?"

Golden Hour
Pairings: Zhongli x Isekai'd!Reader
Summary: It's Zhongli's birthday, and you take him out to Liyue Harbor to celebrate it! You wake up before the golden hour to bake him a cupcake for his birthday, and you get your guts rearranged by Zhongli during the golden hour while the sun is setting. What a way to celebrate the former Geo archon's birthday.
Note: Because I am biased, I have decided to make Zhongli a birthday mini-fic that contains short smut at the end of the story. It's definitely not my best smut for sure because I am typing this at two in the morning with a forming headache 💀 Just a reminder that any [character] x isekai'd!Reader mini-fic is part of my ongoing Isekai'd!reader series and is usually around 5k words or less. These mini-fics are made so each man in the harem gets their own screen time with the reader; sometimes, some men will make an appearance, but not all the time. Every single one of my smuts, the reader is either a female!reader or an AFAB!reader, so please keep that in mind for future fics/smuts. Minors, DO NOT INTERACT! As usual, I don't post anywhere else but on Tumblr (Genshinluvr) and on AO3 (Aaliah_exo). Only registered users on AO3 will be able to view all of my published works (idk when it will be unlocked for everyone, I hope very soon).
Warnings: Horribly written smut towards the end of the story, marking, biting, Zhongli's got a dragon-sized cock. Are we surprised?
Word Count: 2.8k
It is six fifty-eight o’clock in the morning. Usually, around that time in the morning, you would still be in bed, fast asleep until around nine o’clock. But today is different, and here you are in the kitchen, wearing your pajamas with fluffy slippers. You’re steeping tea, and the window in the kitchen gives a nice view of the backyard of the estate. The sun slowly rising makes the abode shine gold; it’s the golden hour, the time you would miss while sleeping and during the late afternoon because you’re holed up in your house with the blinds closed.
*DING*
You jump and place your hand over your chest, feeling your heart racing against your ribcage. You turn to the small cupcake sitting on the cooling rack. You hover your hand above the cupcake to ensure it’s warm and not hot. You grab the cupcake and begin to decorate it with frosting. After decorating the cupcake, you grab a tiny candle and stick it halfway into the cupcake. You search around for a match to light the candle.
After successfully lighting up the candle, you turn to the steeping tea and take the teabag out from the ceramic teacup. You toss the teabag into the trash bin and turn around to grab the teacup and cupcake before walking towards the entrance of the kitchen. You stop in your tracks when you see the door open and the person stepping into the kitchen.
Zhongli looks at you, surprised, and his eyes quickly land on the teacup and cupcake in your hands. While Zhongli is staring at the cupcake intently, you’re staring at him like a fish out of water with your mouth agape while trying to come up with something to say.
“You’re up early,” Zhongli says, looking over at the clock above the kitchen window. “You’ve never been up this early before unless it’s for school.” he raises his eyebrows at you.
You smile at him sheepishly. “Well, I am awake early today because it’s a special day,” you said.
You watch Zhongli approach you, closing the distance between you two and standing before you. No matter how tall you are, Zhongli always towers over you. He looks down at you and then at the items in your hands.
Zhongli strokes his chin. “A special day, you say?” Zhongli asks, gazing down at you curiously.
You nod and smile up at him. “It’s your birthday, Zhongli! Did you forget?” You ask.
“How does one forget an important day?” He smiles back at you, brushes your hair away from your face, and tucks them behind your ears. “Is that for me?” Zhongli asks, pointing down at the cupcake and teacup in your hands.
“Yes! They are for you! I got up early in the morning to bake some cupcakes for your birthday and decided to steep some tea for you before you woke up,” you said, placing the teacup down on the counter beside you.
Holding the cupcake up between you and Zhongli, you clear your throat awkwardly. How in the world are you going to do this without screwing up? You take a deep breath and begin singing happy birthday to Zhongli in Liyuen. You spent a few weeks (maybe almost a month) learning Liyuen just to be able to sing happy birthday to him with the help of Yunjin and Ningguang.
After finishing the song, you hand Zhongli the cupcake and watch him lift it to his face. Zhongli stares at the cupcake and then looks at you; the flickering flames of the candle make his amber eyes illuminate. Zhongli has always been a handsome man; whenever he looks at you, you feel breathless.
“When did you learn how to sing in Liyuen?” Zhongli asks.
You feel your face heat up and rub the back of your neck. “For a few weeks now, perhaps almost a month. Yunjin and Ningguang helped me learn, and who knew they’re such strict teachers,” you chuckle.
Zhongli smiles and caresses your cheek with his right hand while holding onto the cupcake with his other hand. “You did well,” Zhongli murmurs, stroking your cheek with his thumb.
You place your hand over Zhongli’s right hand. “Make a wish,” you whisper, smiling up at Zhongli.
Zhongli pulls his hand away from your face and clutches the cupcake with both hands. Zhongli then closes his eyes for a moment, and you watch him make a wish with anticipation. You wonder what Zhongli’s wish is about. Whatever Zhongli's wish is about, you hope that it’ll come true for him. Zhongli opens his eyes and blows out the candle. You cheer softly and clap your hands.
“I hope your schedule is clear today because I am going to be taking you out for your birthday! Just you and me!” You said.
“Oh? Is this a birthday treat for me?” Zhongli asks, taking the candle out from the cupcake and placing it on the counter before taking a small bite.
“That’s correct! You can continue eating the cupcake and drink up your tea. I will be changing my clothes and getting ready for the day!” You said.
You stand on your tippy toes and press a kiss on Zhongli’s jaws before walking out of the kitchen. After about ten minutes of changing your clothes, brushing your teeth, combing your hair, and putting on deodorant, you finally leave your bedroom and descend the stairs. Zhongli’s eyes nearly pop out of their sockets when he sees you wearing traditional Liyuen clothes. Heat rushes to Zhongli’s cheeks as you walk closer to Zhongli and stop in front of him.
“Ready to go?” You ask, grabbing onto Zhongli’s hands and squeezing them lightly.
Zhongli smiles and nods his head, clearing his throat to make sure he doesn’t stumble over his words. “Lead the way, dearest,” Zhongli says.
You hold Zhongli’s hands and exit the estate with Zhongli by your side. The first place you decide to take Zhongli is Third-Round Knockout for breakfast. The both of you listen to Iron Tongue Tian tell a story about Ningguang while you and Zhongli ate delicious Liyuen dishes. You turn to look at Zhongli and notice sauce at the corner of his lips. You stifle your giggle and reach for the cloth napkin and pat his arm lightly.
Zhongli turns to look at you, and you wipe the corner of his lips with the cloth napkin. Zhongli’s eyes widen slightly, his cheeks turning bright red. Zhongli clears his throat and smiles at you shyly while you laugh under your breath and rest your head on his shoulders, squeezing his biceps lightly. How can a god be as cute as he is?
While listening to Iron Tongue Tian continue his story about Ningguang, you look up at Zhongli and make eye contact with the former Geo archon. Now it’s your turn to feel shy; you sit up and quickly look away, face almost as hot as the sun beaming down on the two of you. You reach for the teacup and take a sip nervously, feeling your hands tremble. Zhongli chuckles and wipes the tiny droplet of tea from the corner of your lips.
After breakfast at Third-Round Knockout, you and Zhongli take a stroll at Liyue Harbor while Zhongli tells you stories about his archon days. You walk beside Zhongli with your arm linked around his, your left side pressing against his right side. You two end up stopping in front of Jade Mystery after a certain gem catches Zhongli’s attention, making him stop his story short.
“You’re not going to be spending mora, are you?” You ask, looking up at your beloved boyfriend with your eyes narrowing.
Zhongli continues to look at the jade laid out on the yellow, blue, white and red cloths. “I am not spending any mora; I am just getting a closer look at the jades on the table,” Zhongli says. You can see the bottom of his lip slightly jutting out cutely.
You prop your hands on your hips and give Zhongli a skeptical look. “Oh? Is that so, my love?” You ask, pressing your lips into thin lines while staring at him suspiciously.
“That is correct,” Zhongli nods his head.
He walks up to Shitou and begins conversing with the boss of Jade Mystery while you stand in front of the table and look at every slab of jade. You stroke your chin and drown out the sounds of Zhongli and Shitou’s conversation about jade.
“Wonderful! That will be one thousand mora for the Noctilucous Jade!” You hear Shitou exclaim happily.
Your eyes widen, and you turn to look at Zhongli and Shitou, only to see Shitou talking to another customer. You furrow your eyebrows in confusion before turning to search for Zhongli. You nearly bump into his chest when you turn to the left; you look up at Zhongli and sigh in relief, letting yourself lean against his chest.
“What, did you think I was the customer?” Zhongli teases you while pinching your cheeks.
You nod your head. “Yes,” you breathe. “But I’m glad that you’re not the one that’s spending a thousand mora on Noctilucous Jade,” you said.
You didn’t want Zhongli to spend a single mora on his birthday because, well, you’re the one that’s spoiling him for his birthday! For lunch, you and Zhongli stop by Liuli Pavilion. As usual, the food is divine, and you and Zhongli have idle chats while eating lunch and sipping teas.
“This is spicy,” you mutter, poking the dish in front of you.
Your lips feel like they’re on fire, but you can’t stop eating them because they’re so delicious. Zhongli looks at you worriedly; his eyes zeroed in on your lips in particular. You sniffle and wipe your nose on a napkin, fanning yourself with your hand.
“Your lips are swollen, dearest,” Zhongli frowns, placing his chopsticks down on the ceramic plate before gesturing for the host to come over to the table. “If you’d like, I can ask the host to grab you a cup of cold water,” Zhongli offers.
You nod. “Yes, please,” you said.
The host gives you a cup of cold water, and you almost immediately down the water once the host places the cup in front of you. When the cold water touches the inside of your burning mouth, you nearly sob from relief. You set the now empty cup down on the table and lean back in your seat, sighing in relief.
“I think it's best for you to stop eating the spicy dishes,” Zhongli says, pushing the plate away from you. “Mayhaps you would like to try out the dumplings instead?” Zhongli suggests, grabbing a chunky dumpling from the container and placing it on yours.
“Yeah, I’ll try out the dumplings,” you breathed.
You’re about to grab the dumpling with your chopsticks when the sun shines through the windows, catching your eyes. You pause and look up, only to notice that the sun is beginning to set already. Wait, what? You look up at the clock, eyes wide. How long have you and Zhongli been eating at Liuli Pavilion?
“How long have we been here for? I could’ve sworn we had just arrived at Liuli Pavilion not too long ago,” you said, looking over at Zhongli.
“Well, in case you haven’t noticed, we did have a few rounds of food,” Zhongli gestures to the table.
On the table are a bunch of empty plates and bowls stacked on top of each other. In front of you and Zhongli are new main dishes and side dishes waiting to be eaten. You jolt back and blink, looking at the table and at Zhongli with an incredulous look on your face. Zhongli chuckles and sips from the ceramic teacup.
“Wow, time went by so fast, I didn’t even notice,” you said, shoving an entire dumpling into your mouth and beginning to chew on the delicious dumpling.
Zhongli sighs and gives you an endearing smile. “Dearest, please don’t stuff an entire dumpling into your mouth. You’re going to choke,” Zhongli chides.
It took you a while to chew and swallow the entire dumpling in your mouth. Once you consume the dumpling, you reach for your warm teacup. “Zhongli, honey, that’s not the only thing I’ll be choking on tonight,” you said calmly while sipping your tea.
Zhongli gives you a questioning look. “Pardon?” Zhongli asks.
You shake your head. “Nothing, forget what I said,” you wave off Zhongli’s question.
After wrapping up your and Zhongli’s lunch (and dinner because, apparently, the two of you had more than three rounds of food at Liuli Pavilion), the two of you leave the restaurant, and the sun is now starting to set. It’s the golden hour. You and Zhongli lean against the wooden railing at the Harbor, staring out to the waters.
“I’m not sure if we have time to go back to the abode. Would you be okay with spending the night in Liyue?” Zhongli asks, wrapping his arms around your waist.
You lean your head on Zhongli’s chest and nod your head. “Of course I am! As long as I’m with you, I’m content,” you said softly.
Zhongli kisses the side of your head and leads you to the nearest hotel in Liyue Harbor. Once the two of you get your room number, the key to your hotel room, and some privacy, everything becomes a blur for you two. The last thing you remembered was Zhongli pinning you against the door, marking up your neck with love bites.
“Oh, fuck! Zhongli!” You whine, clawing at his back as he plunges his cock into your sopping wet heat.
Zhongli buries his face into your neck and growls, his nails digging into your waist. Zhongli tangles his fingers into your hair and tilts your face up. You look up at Zhongli and press your lips against his. Zhongli ravages your lips hungrily, his canines nipping at your lips, your teeth clashing with his.
Zhongli grinds and ruts his cock in and out of your entrance, grabbing and squeezing your chest. Your legs tremble around Zhongli’s waist; Zhongli sucks on your tongue and presses his body up against yours, the tip of his cock kissing your cervix. You let out a choked gasp in Zhongli’s mouth, pulling away from the man above you.
“Zhongli, I don’t think I can last any longer,” You whine, clenching your jaws as you near your end.
Zhongli chuckles. “Already? But we’re just getting started, dearest,” Zhongli purrs. He continues to hammer his thick, long cock in and out of your tight hole.
“Just getting started?! It’s the evening!” You panted, digging your nails into Zhongli’s biceps.
Zhongli stops and looks out the window, the golden sunshine illuminating the bedroom and your naked body. Zhongli leans down and latches his lips onto one of your erect nipples, sucking and lapping at it.
“Dearest, the sun has yet to set. It’s still the golden hour,” Zhongli chuckles; he continues to lap at your erect nipples, making you shiver below him.
You stare up at the man above you and look between the cracks of the curtains. Zhongli is indeed correct. Between the time you and Zhongli checked into a hotel and now, only an hour has gone by. You look up at Zhongli with your mouth agape.
Zhongli lets out a laugh and slams his dick deeper into you, burying his cock as deep as he can. You wailed and writhed beneath Zhongli, your legs flailing the deeper he buried his cock inside of you. Zhongli growls and buries his face between your neck and shoulders, biting down on your neck hard.
“Ow! Zhongli!” You squeal, clawing Zhongli’s back, leaving a trail of angry red marks on his back. Zhongli presses the bulbous tip of his cock against your cervix, feeling your walls pulsing around his cock each time he thrusts into you. Zhongli pulls away from your neck and licks up your blood, his amber eyes glowing and horns sprouting from his head. You notice Zhongli’s arms have also changed. From his mid-shoulders to his fingertips, there is an ombre of black leading to gold. You lift Zhongli’s arms to your face and stare at them in awe.
“They’re glowing,” you whisper, unaware of the glowing symbol on your lower abdomen close to your right hipbone.
Zhongli wraps his arms around your waist, pistoning his cock repeatedly. You bury your face into Zhongli’s chest, a string of soft whimpers and moans coming from your mouth each time you feel Zhongli slide into you. You rock your hips against Zhongli’s hips, rubbing your aching, swollen nub against his pubic bone, sending shockwaves of pleasure down your spine.
“Oh, fuck,” you let out a shaky whisper, feeling a knot beginning to form in your lower stomach. You tap on Zhongli’s arms weakly. “Zhongli, I don’t think I can last any longer,” you gasp, melting in Zhongli’s arms.
Zhongli tilts your head to the side and starts leaving hickeys behind on your neck, shoulders, and collarbone. “We have all night, dearest,” Zhongli whispers. Zhongli nibbles on your earlobe and squeezes the globes of your ass, burying his cock inside of you. “After all, it’s only the golden hour. We have plenty of time,” Zhongli purrs into your ears.
Note: Definitely not my best smut for sure. I really hope that my future Zhongli smut will be better because I do have a Zhongli smut idea in mind since early April of 2022, but I never got the chance to type it out because I kept changing the idea 🥲 Maybe it'll be published sometime in 2023; not entirely sure when, but hopefully soon. I have a new taglist! It's more specific this time compared to last time (kind of). If you want to be in the new taglist for certain fanfics, click the link [here]. SAGAU MASTERLIST \ MAIN MASTERLIST
Tumblr media
“Zhongli,” You greeted with a smile on your face as you watch your beloved acolyte enter your lounge room, “you’ve come just in time for my brunch time, care to be my company?”
He smiles in response, pink dusted off his cheeks. Who is he to reject the opportunity to spend time with the divine creator themselves?
“Of course, your grace.”
He sees the way your eyes brighten, something that makes his heart set ablaze, and you instantly gesture to him to sit on the chair that’s across from yours. “Come, come! You should try these biscuits, I heard that they're becoming famous recently and..”
As you continue to ramble on and on about the biscuits, Zhongli listens to every word and takes it to heart, the smile never left off from his face. This is exactly how he wanted his life to go, spending the rest of his forever with you as you enjoy his company as much as he enjoys yours.
“Take a bite.” You said, raising a biscuit towards the retired archon’s mouth.
His cheeks turned red from the fact that he’s about to be fed by you. “I suppose I shouldn’t… refuse such an offer from your grace.” He spoke before leaning towards your hand and bit the biscuit.
“Does it taste sweet?” You asked, watching him chewing the biscuit with an anticipated look. It was sweet just as you rambled, but not as sweet as this moment.
Before he could answer, your face morphs into something unsettling.
“Does it taste real enough for you to not think this is a dream?”
Suddenly, he wakes up. It hits him that he’s in Mt. Aocang, alone with nothing but his thoughts and daydreams. Thoughts about how he’ll never come to find a moment just like the one he daydreams.
Ever since the day the imposter that Zhongli devoted himself to hunt and harm proved to be the divine creator, he can understand why mortals often get stuck to their fantasies and dreams.
How could he be so blind?
“Zh-Zhongli, please..” You begged in a desperate tone as he came towards you with his weapon, ready to kill you the moment he’s close to you. “I didn’t do anything wrong.”
“Still in denial, are you?” Zhongli spoke up, unamused by your cowardice and patheticness. “You dare to play as the innocent when you’ve committed a grave sin? You dare to use the face of our grace and pretend there’s nothing wrong–”
“This is my real face!” You scream, shoulders shaking as you place your hands on your head. “Why can’t everyone understand that? Why can’t you see I don’t have any ill intentions?! Why can’t you leave me alone!?”
Because he was too enamored by the creator to realize he was worshiping a fake. He was still in a daze where all he wanted was for the creator to appreciate him and his efforts, and killing the “imposter” was one way to do it.
He was a fool that got tricked and committed the worst sin there is in Teyvat.
The moment the situation with Osial was handled, Zhongli immediately fled to Inazuma to see if Childe was telling the truth, and indeed he did.
He finds himself standing in front of Tenshukaku amidst the chaos in Inazuma City that’s currently ambushed by rifthounds and the golden wolflord, staring at the familiar face in horror as it dawns on him what he and his people had done.
They’ve been harming their creator this whole time. And they’re now facing the consequences of it.
It felt like he was seeing a whole new person. Instead of seeing the usual fear and desperate look on your face, all he sees is vengeance and anger in you, who’s covered in blood and bruises from who he assumes is the true imposter – the damned rascal who managed to trick many nations into thinking they’re the creator.
For the first time, Zhongli felt scared for life.
“...Your.. Your grace…” He breathed out, kneeling down. “Forgive me… Forgive me and my people… We were foolish and–”
“Who knew it’d take your nation to be at risk for you to finally listen to me.” You said in a monotone, unphased from the unusual sight of the retired archon in a pathetic state. “Let’s face it, it’s too late for you to apologize for you and your people.”
“I’m aware,” He clenches his fists. Angry at himself for being so blind. “But please allow me to redeem myself – I’m willing to face the punishments as long as I get to be beside you, your grace–!”
“Who do you think you are to assume you’re worth being beside me, Morax?” Your eyes narrow. “I wanted you to listen to me, I wanted you to stop attacking me– but you didn’t listen and believe me, did you?”
He shook his head slowly, the regret slowly starting to eat him away. “I.. I did not..”
“Then you have no reason nor right to be considered as my acolyte, Morax. You have no right to kneel and beg for forgiveness when you had the chance long before I knew who I was.” You felt like you were burning inside from the memories you had during the hunt, feeling angrier as you remember the things he had done to you.
You then wipe the blood of the imposter away from your cheek, convincing yourself you’re not crying. “You’re lucky I only awakened Osial and not those who are from the damned,” You whispered, walking down the stairs as you ignored the statue of the raiden shogun crumbling down, a sign that the electro archon has finally lost it. “I was just being merciful.”
You then leaned towards his face. It felt like he’s no longer facing the scared ( Name ) who always runs away from the sight of him and others who tried to kill them, and is facing the angered Creator who was betrayed by their own people due to their foolish desires to impress the fake.
“The least you can do is to get out of my way and out of my face, Morax.” You felt sadistic for feeling satisfied with the way Zhongli’s face contorts to disbelief. “Seeing you right now.. Disgusts me more than the imposter’s rotting corpse.”
He stares down at the tea he drank, his thoughts flooded with what-ifs and denial. If he could turn back in time, he would take back everything he had done to you. He would do anything to be in those who are in your favor’s position, even if he had to take down Teyvat to ruins.
But alas, there’s nothing he could do.
That’s why the consultant resorts to spending his days dreaming and being delusional of what could’ve been if he knew you were the creator all along.
That was the only thing he could do while waiting for you to somehow let him come to you and serve you properly this time, even if the chance was slim.
Tell him to do the impossible – get you the sun, the stars, the moon, or the extinct – and he’ll do everything he can to do it if that means you’ll accept him in your little world that has you and those who are by your side loyally.
He'll do anything to get out of this hell, a hell where the creator despises him more than anything.

(Your weekly trip to the bathhouse takes an unexpected turn when a mysterious man you’ve seen, but never met, decides to break the rules and come pay you a visit on the female side of the establishment. In the end, you may find that having a run in with him needs to become a new part of your ceremonial routine, and, to your utmost surprise, that he might very soon be your new boss.)
disclaimer/content warning: 18+ content! minors dni! smut, size kink, i guess technically some hurt/comfort, soft dom zhongli, submissive reader, massages (receiving), overstimulation, bath sex (duh).
*ao3 mirror*
***
The water was warm, even more so after having to tread naked through the cool air that filled the room, winter seeping through the brick and mortar of the building. A thin fog of steam rose off the surface of the water, swirling in tendrils around you as you slowly waded deeper into the pool, the minerals infused into the bath making your skin soft and slippery.
You were alone here today, the other sporadic usuals who came right before closing having forgone the casual tradition, probably heading home early on account of the snow storm that was on its way.
But not you.
You needed this, especially at the end of such a hectic week.
It was the only way you could unwind after such a whirlwind, letting your troubles melt away like a sugar cube spooned into a hot cup of tea.
You didn’t like to bring your stress from work home with you and, try as you might to find other ways, this was truly the only reliable option you’d found that always did the trick.
You let out a sigh as you sunk further below the surface, right up to your neck, your hair tied back to avoid getting wet, the humidity in the air causing wispy strands to spring free and stick to your forehead and back of your neck.
It was so quiet— even more so than usual— the ambient atmosphere created by the dim lights and echoes of slow dripping water that bounced off the tiled floors filling your head like a lullaby and making you calm.
You closed your eyes, leaned back against the smooth wall of the bath, tuning into your steady breathing, the rhythmic rise and fall of your chest.
It was so easy to lose time here, minutes often turning to hours in what felt like just a few series of breaths.
When the place was about to close, they’d dim the lights down to near darkness, silently alerting any lingering patrons to finish up, get dressed, and head out.
But you had at least another hour until then, so you weren’t very worried.
Plus, you’d never seen or even heard of the owner complaining if anyone stayed just a little later than usual.
Now that you thought about it though, you’d never met the owner. Never even seen him around, as far as you could remember.
You’d been coming to this place nearly every weekend for a few years now, surely you must’ve crossed paths with him at some point, right?
Well, even if he did prefer to run his business from the shadows, that was just as well.
Besides, it might be kind of awkward to introduce yourself to someone for the first time when you were wrapped in nothing but a towel and still soaking wet.
The bathhouse was a small, quaint little place, had a certain historical charm to it with old Chinese woodblock prints adorning the walls and other displays of art or faded photographs of the areas surrounding scenery from the distant past. It was pretty much private at this time of night, and even more so at this very moment what with you being the only one brave— or dumb— enough to show up when the rest of the city was practically on lockdown from the encroaching blizzard.
At least, in here, you’d be warm. Wouldn’t have to risk shivering through the night at home if the storm cut through the power lines.
Yes, at least, in here you’d be warm.
But then, amidst your tranquil mind state, thoughts dripping through you like lazy honey, the tiny, pins and needles prickle of paranoia began to creep in.
You opened your eyes, scanned the misty room slowly, trying to catch sight of your sudden anxiety’s source.
You saw nothing. No one. Yet you felt like, if you stared into the steam for long enough, you’d catch the flowy, drifting movements of a ghost through the fog.
After a while, you tried to relax again, count your breaths like you did when you first arrived and were beginning to settle down, but then you heard something that nearly made you jump.
“It’s almost closing, you know…” a low male voice spoke calmly from across the room, his rich baritone vibrating in your chest as it echoed over the tile and through the water like a gentle sonar.
Normally, people who frequented places like this knew to leave others alone— an unspoken but very important rule.
Don’t make eye contact.
Don’t make noise.
Just mind your own business and don’t make things awkward.
But this person, whoever he was, clearly wasn’t aware of any of those rules.
He also didn’t seem to be aware that men were not welcome on this side of the building.
“If I’m being honest,” he continued, a faint silhouette stepping through the dimly lit fog and further into view, “I’m surprised you came tonight, what with the storm that’s beginning to rage outside.”
As his figure came further into view, your startled gaze landed on a tall, handsome man with long, silky dark brown hair, the ends fading into a burnt umber shade.
He had a rust colored robe draped loosely around him, the toned expanse of his chest visible through the gap of the fabric.
Staring too long was making you blush, and even you knew that your face becoming this flushed couldn’t be blamed on the temperature of the bath water.
He took a few strides forward, his gait lazy and smooth, yet still refined and regal.
Like a king pacing his chambers, comfortable in his own space yet ready to shift right back into royalty if the occasion so called.
“But, you know…” he continued, nearing the edge of the large, deep basin of the tub. You pulled your knees further up to your chest, suddenly feeling exposed despite the fact that being naked was commonplace here. When he stopped but a few feet away, looking down at you in the bath with his arms crossed and a soft smirk playing at his lips, you sunk a little further down under the surface of the pool, the water now up to your nose. “If it’s between you and me…” He placed a big, slender hand on one hip, leaning a little closer over the edge, his golden eyes catching you in a trance. “I don’t mind keeping the place open just a little bit longer.”
You squinted at him, confused, but then your gaze went wide, putting the pieces together.
“You’re—”
He held a finger up to his lips, hushing you with a single, almost playful, “Shhhh… Wouldn’t want the other patrons to know I pick favorites, now would we?”
You were going to remind him that there was no one else here, but the observation died on your tongue as he winked at you and you suddenly started to feel dizzy, already having grown a little lightheaded from the heat the water lent you, and now even more so with this stranger’s advances.
But he wasn’t really a stranger, was he?
And now that you saw him— albeit with much less clothing than ever before— you did recognize him.
Because the owner of the bathhouse was here almost as much as you were, always passing through the lobby with his hands clasped behind his back, surveying the crowd, somehow being the most noticeable yet least looked at person in the room.
He made everyone else look like mere pebbles amongst a gemstone, yet…
He’d noticed you on day one.
“Excuse me for being so brazen but…” His golden gaze flicked up and down your form, only partially obscured beneath the water. When his eyes landed back on yours, he said, “May I join you?”
Your throat bobbed with a particularly hard swallow, your vision nearly spinning at the prospect.
You raised your lips back above the surface and replied with a timid, “I thought men and women weren’t allowed to share baths here…”
The owner smiled, the expression mischievous yet still tinted with wisdom. “I do believe those rules apply during the working hours of my establishment and—“ He glanced behind him at the clock, where the hands had just passed midnight. “I do believe we are now closed.”
Your heart was pounding so hard in your chest, you swore it must be causing ripples.
You stared at this man— this beautiful, gorgeous man— with big, shimmering eyes for what felt like an eternity.
But then, feeling rather bold yourself that night, you cleared your throat and said, “Alright… Then I suppose you may.”
He loosened the belt of his robe and slipped the garment from his shoulders, exposing a lean but strong figure under the fabric. You squeezed your thighs together, praying that your body didn’t betray you while you two shared the same water, the familiar warm, gooey feeling of arousal turning in your gut.
“I’m Zhongli, by the way…” he politely introduced, slowly lowering himself into the bath against the wall opposite of you.
You went to give him your name as well, but he echoed your title at the same time the syllables left your mouth, already having known it somehow.
“I take notice of my regulars,” he informed you, flashing a grin that was only slightly guilty. “Forgive me but… I just happened to glance at the guest books.”
You were sure he’d done more than glance, but you weren’t going to scold him for it.
It was his business, after all.
He had the right to know who he was letting into it.
“So…” Zhongli began after a few uncomfortably silent beats. “Why do you come here so often?” A look then crossed his careful features that read as a sudden shock, hastily clearing his throat as he amended with, “I don’t mean to be rude, but, well… You are quite the regular.”
You explained that, due to your stressful job, you needed a place to unwind and relax before returning home at the end of the week. You’d tried yoga, meditation, long walks through the park, podcasts— any means of leisure escapism where you could find a way to turn off your brain— but his bathhouse was the only sure fire way to reset yourself after a harrowing work week.
“I see…” Zhongli seemed to ponder, studying you with an inquisitive gaze. But then, that devious smile found its way back onto his distinguished face, something devilish glinting behind all that gold. “You’ve named several good ways for one to relax, but I do believe you’ve forgotten one of the most important and common ones of all…”
You cocked your head slightly, feeling like you were naively walking into a trap when you asked with an innocent lilt upturning in your tone, “What?”
Zhongli let out a low chuckle, a sound that was short lived but no less felt as its vibrations rumbled through the water. When he looked at you then, something in his eyes had changed, his honey-gold stare melting into a darker, slightly more dangerous shade. And when he simply stated, as if it were obvious, “Sex,” well…
You were starting to wonder if allowing him to join you had been a good idea or a bad one.
“But worry not,” he assured you, reading the trepidation shining behind your doe-eyed gaze and trying to put you back at ease. “It’s merely just a suggestion. Though, I’m sure you’re well aware of it by now.”
In truth, it had been a while since the last time you laid with anyone.
Your busy work schedule had kept you from forming any new relationships, let alone maintaining your old ones, so you’d taken it upon yourself to deal with those urges only when it became extremely necessary and, even more of a let down, most times it was a solo effort.
Zhongli awaited some sort of response from you, despite the fact he hadn’t asked a question, and when you sheepishly replied, “Yeah, well, I’m not currently seeing anyone at the moment…” the owner of the bathhouse perked up.
“Oh?” Zhongli pressed curiously. “Well, what a shame that is…” He slid a little closer, abandoning the built-in bench on his side and wading further towards you through the deeper parts of the bath. “For all those other men,” he continued. “Though, I suppose, for you as well…”
He was standing right before you now, his lithe fingers gently cupping your jaw, guiding your gaze further up to meet his where he peered down at you, golden eyes partially hidden behind a half-lidded stare.
Admiration, you realized, staring back up at him with those big, innocent eyes of yours. He was admiring you.
“I-it’s not like I don’t want to…” you stammered, barely able to string together a coherent sentence, let alone a thought under the heat of his touch, the intensity of his stare. “I mean…” Your own eyes flicked to his chest again, following up the definition of his biceps and the firmness of his shoulders, leading you to the jut of his collarbones and that pale, slender neck, a few little freckles flecked across his throat. You gulped again, practically salivating at the sight of him. “It’s not like I haven’t tried. I—”
Your voice cracked upon the last word and you forced your mouth shut, trying to keep in the tears you were struggling to hold back.
Because, maybe, if you would’ve quit your hell job a year ago like everyone kept telling you to, you’d actually be able to enjoy your life. Make new friends, rekindle the relationships with the ones you already had, maybe go out with a group on the weekend and meet someone cute, maybe they’d even be nice, and maybe you two would make plans to meet again. Maybe for coffee or lunch or a chat or, eventually, just some really good sex.
But work had taken that away from you.
Maybe it was about time you stopped letting it control you, dictate the types of fleeting pleasures you were and weren’t allowed to engage in.
“Oh, look at you…” Zhongli cooed, taking a seat beside you and continuing to run his fingers along your jaw, your cheek, thumb wiping away a fallen tear before gently stroking at the back of your neck. “Poor thing… So deprived, aren’t you?” You knew he must be teasing you, could tell by that condescending lilt laced into his smooth, deep voice. Yet still, you couldn’t help but lean in, to both his touch and his words.
You nodded your head, muttering out a shaky, “Uh-huh…” before sniffling and going to wipe more tears from your eyes.
You felt Zhongli’s hand travel down your back then, taking his time to feel the softness of your skin, soaked into silk under the water’s healing properties, his palm gliding effortlessly across you, fingers ghosting gracefully along your spine until he stopped at your lower back, curling his grip further around your side to your bare hip, tugging you just a little bit closer.
With his lips nearly pressed against your ear he whispered, “I can’t have my favorite customer so upset, now can I?” You felt a shiver run through you from his voice alone, his fingers flexing over the plush of your upper thigh, gently beginning to knead the flesh there, slowly massaging you. “No… That would make me a terrible business owner, wouldn’t it?”
You buried your face against his chest, taking in the scent of him as he continued to work up and down your leg, soothing some of the tension that had gathered in your muscles and helping to lull you back into the serene state you usually entered while in this establishment.
Zhongli smelled like camomile and expensive cologne, his own skin velvet soft from where the water had soaked in. He felt you slacken against him, felt the warm, gentle fanning of your breath across his chest, and he let out another one of those pleased hums.
“That’s it…” he lightly encouraged you, his firm, kneading fingers traveling up to your shoulders, beginning to work out a knot that had formed by your neck. “Just relax… Let me take care of you…”
He moved you easily under the weightlessness the water gave you, shifting you to sit in front of him, basically on his lap, so he could use both hands to massage your tender skin, lessening his grip when he felt you tense and hiss until he found just the right pressure, being generous in the time and care he showed your shoulders and your back, working up and down your body until you swore every last ounce of tightness and pain was gone.
This left you even more pliable under his touch, sleepy and sated from his thoughtful treatment, allowing him to turn you to face him, your thighs straddling his lap now, your most intimate area spread over where he was already beginning to grow hard.
“Feeling better?” he asked, his voice but a whisper as he gently brushed some more stray strands of your damp hair away from your face. You looked into his eyes, your pupils blown wide, his on their way to matching, and gave a timid nod. You could feel yourself trembling a little, the anticipation of where you knew things were likely headed beginning to make you slightly nervous.
“Good girl…” Zhongli grinned, his lips mere inches away from your own. “But, keep in mind…” They were hovering right above yours now, so close you could taste the lingering flavor of tea and honey on his breath. “We’ve only just begun…”
Even his lips were soft, though still contained a quality of regal strength just like the rest of him. And, god, you couldn’t remember a kiss feeling this good in your entire life. Any nerves you’d had were soon replaced by the fog of lust that filled your hazy brain, allowing your tongue to intertwine with his, licking into each other’s mouths, tracing over the distinct shape of each other’s teeth, deepening the gesture until you’d traded so much saliva neither of you could tell the difference in each other’s taste anymore.
You shifted in his lap, his hands back on your hips, helping guide you to press a little harder into his erection, the hard length of him digging into your inner thigh before sliding against your slit, your sensitive skin gooey and slick despite the water that surrounded you.
You squeaked out a pathetic little whine when he grinded his hips up into you, the pressure increasing on your clit, the drag of his cock silky and sweet. You arched your back, pressing down harder with the next drag of your own hips, both of you beginning to breathe faster as you worked in tandem to take in the pleasure of each other’s bodies.
You felt dizzy again, fearing you might faint, but Zhongli kept his hands on you for support, letting your head flop against his chest as your trembling little hands weakly flexed over where they gripped his biceps, trying your best to keep up with his pace.
But you had already been so tired when you’d arrived, the last of your energy leached from the warm bathwater and then wrung out completely upon Zhongli’s early advances.
Though, you needn’t have worried. Zhongli was willing to do the work for the both of you.
You weren’t the only one who needed to relax, after all.
The owner of the bathhouse was a very busy man.
It wasn’t very often he got to enjoy the amenities of his own establishment, let alone with a girl as pretty and perfect as you.
“Would you like me to continue?” he asked, giving you a gentle shake when he thought perhaps you were too spent to go any further. But you still gave a sluggish nod, whining out a quiet, “Please…” before forcing your head up to look him in the eyes again, pleading with him to keep going.
“Very well,” he replied, looking satisfied, adjusting you in his lap again, one strong arm cradling your back, allowing you to recline a little as his other hand carefully reached between your legs, long, slender fingers teasing against your slit, just barely prodding at your needy little hole, feeling you flutter around him when he slipped one finger inside of you, then two, slowly pumping in and out of you and drinking up every adorable little whimper and mewl that escaped your puffy lips, still shiny with your shared spit and begging to be kissed again.
As he scissored his fingers inside of you, you winced a little, the sting of the stretch made all the more apparent by the many minerals that swam in the water. His mouth latched onto your neck then, sucking dark bruises into your dewy skin to help distract you from the slightly uncomfortable, yet necessary, sensation between your legs.
You quivered against him, your cunt clenching relentlessly around his fingers as they curled inside of you, stroking that spongy spot that you could never reach on your own, making you jolt, then melt.
“Zh-Zhongli…” you sighed, chest hitching as you tried to catch your breath just enough to speak. He paused his ministrations but kept his fingers nestled deep inside, becoming painfully hard as your body continued trying to suck him in even further, clamping down in a way he could only imagine would feel ten times more magnificent once his cock was inside you.
“Please…” you practically begged, face flushing an even deeper shade as you confessed, “N-need you inside of me… Not gonna last much longer…”
Zhongli looked taken aback for a moment, his calm, all-knowing gaze gone wide before softening back into that gentle wisdom. “But of course…” he cooed, removing his fingers, using both hands to lift you a little, guiding you over his twitching length. “Anything the customer wants…” He helped you sink down onto his cock, his own breath shuddering after only a few inches of him was inside you, your warm, silken walls squeezing him tight. Through a strained mutter, he finished his previous statement with a slightly shaky, “The customer gets…”
You eyes were already beginning to roll by the time he was only halfway inside, his girth splitting you in two while his cock massaged the inside of your cunt, reaching spots you hadn’t even known existed.
You let out a loud, high moan when he gave one short, hard thrust, burying his remaining length inside you all the way down to the hilt, his pelvis pressing directly against your pulsing little clit. You shivered, both from the pain and the pleasure, nearly doubling over, your face buried back against his chest like it was a home to you, a place you longed to return to.
“That’s it, darling—” he praised, his voice further strained from his own pleasure, one hand stroking your spine as he allowed you to adjust. “Very good… You’re doing—” He sucked in a short gasp as he felt your walls give a series of quick, tight squeezes, your abused little hole constricting around his cock and nearly making him lose what remained of his composure. “You’re doing so well…”
Once you were ready, Zhongli helped you begin to move, encouraging you to to ride him, helping guide your hips up and down as you rolled them, arching your back and keening, your voice echoing through the entire bathhouse as Zhongli pumped his hips up into you to meet your motions.
And, god, he felt so good. Better than anyone else you’d ever allowed inside you. And, to your surprise, it seemed like Zhongli felt the same about you. He couldn’t stop muttering praises to you, his grip becoming tighter as his fingertips dug into your thighs, your ass, leaving a new constellation of bruises in their wake as you both picked up speed.
“So— So tight for me—” he said in between his grunting, spearing deeper into your sore cunt, pace becoming borderline punishing. “So good— So wet—” You were biting into his shoulder, feeling his muscles coil under your teeth every time his grip on you flexed, his blunt nails carving half-moons into your plush flesh. “Such a good girl… Such a pretty, perfect girl…”
Zhongli’s hips began to slow then, leaving you teetering painfully on the edge. You let out a desperate whimper when he stopped, eyes quickly darting up to meet his, afraid he’d decided to stop before such a crucial release.
He let out another one of those deep, downright sinfully seductive chuckles, assuring you with a playful lilt, “Don’t worry… Just trust me.”
He pulled out, turning you in his lap once more so that your back was pressed against his firm chest. You weren’t entirely sure what he was doing, yet allowed him to move your body as he pleased. He guided you to pull your knees up to your chest, his arms encasing your entire being, sinking back into you, though this time deeper than before, if that were even possible.
His hips didn’t take long to regain their prior speed, giving sharp, hard thrusts upward until every single one pulled a cry from your already raw throat, your head thrown back and resting in the crook of his shoulder.
You could feel your muscles seizing, stomach clenching as your walls squeezed around him with all their strength. Your moan when you came was high and cracked, broken at the end with an overstimulated sob, a thin veil of tears misting in your eyes once more.
Zhongli stayed nestled inside you, his heartbeat hammering in his chest so fast and hard you could feel it drumming against your back as you lay against him, the tension slowly melting back into tranquility as you rode out the high of your comedown.
But he wasn’t done with you yet.
Just before your eyelids could fall heavy and closed, Zhongli repositioned you so that your elbows were splayed against the ledge of the bath, your breasts pressed to the wet tiles as his chest rested against your back, his weight settling over you like a blanket of warmth and comfort, his body already so familiar to you.
“Just a little bit more, darling,” he panted, folding your knees up onto the bath’s bench, nudging your knees further apart as he guided the tip of his still hard cock back against your entrance, admiring the curve of your spine as your back arched, your plump little ass out on display for him. “I promise… Just a little bit more…”
He took full control over you now, practically moving both of your bodies for you as his thrusts began long and slow, deep and rhythmic as he savored the sweet clenching of your cunt, your pretty little pussy raw and aching from his thick cock.
You could feel the drag of every vein, every ridge and curve and sinfully delectable inch of him as if you’d been molded to hold him and only him inside you.
You were so tired, so spent, only enough energy to barely keep your eyes open, jaw gone slack and lips parted, a thin, viscous string of saliva dribbling from your mouth as you couldn’t even muster enough energy to swallow.
As he leaned a little further over you, muttering in your ear, he teased, “Such a mess, aren’t you…? You come here to get clean and look and what happens…?” He gently swiped two of his fingers over your slick lips, gathering your spit and pushing his digits into your mouth, pressing down on your tongue and only causing more drool to leak from you. You tried your best to suck on his fingers, tongue lazily swirling around them, a tired, lilting little moan vibrating against his touch and making him shudder.
“But that’s alright…” he assured you, his pace picking up a little more speed. “We’ll get you all cleaned up after I’ve made a proper mess of you.”
He pulled his fingers from your mouth, bringing along with them another thin string of your spit, slipping them into his own mouth and groaning over his fingers at the taste of you. When he was done savoring that, his slippery hand lightly clasped around your throat, muttering coaxing words of, “Come on now, sweetheart… Cum again… Just one more time for me… You can do it… I know you can…” as his hips hammered into you harder than ever before, so deep you swore you could feel him in your tummy.
When your second release washed over you, this time like a wave crashing against the shore, Zhongli finally reached his limit and spilled his own hot, sticky cum inside of you, all the while repeating in a breathy mumble, “Good girl… So good for me… So perfect…” as he gave a few more lazy pumps, driving his seed deeper inside of you.
He stayed there for a while, his chest pressed to your back, so much sweat having built up between your two bodies but indistinguishable from the humid veil the hot water had cast upon you. Finally when he pulled out, both of your cum drifting out into the steamy water, he helped prop you back up to straddle his lap, your head resting against his shoulder as your eyes finally fluttered shut, your breathing slowing to a steady rate.
“I suppose I’ll have to close down for a day or two…” Zhongli said then, seeming to snap right back into business mode as his gaze scanned the contaminated water. But then he smiled, nudging his nose against the top of your head before pressing a gentle kiss against your hair. “Though, I suppose this snow storm has turned out to be a rather lucky thing. I doubt I’ll be expecting many patrons, if any, over the next few days if this weather doesn’t let up.”
As he spoke quietly to you, not even completely sure you were listening or not but not caring either way, he lovingly stroked his knuckles along your jaw, following the soft curve of your neck and shoulder, down your spine and then back up again, repeating these motions and further lulling you.
“But, you know…” he then whispered, lips pressed right against your ear and causing you to stir, your body slightly shifting atop him and a soft groan humming in your throat. “If you were looking for a new place of employment… there’s a vacancy here that needs filling…”
You sucked in a long, deep breath, blinking back awake and turning your head halfway to stare up at him, unsure of whether you’d just heard him right or if you’d been halfway to dreaming.
“Are you serious?” you asked, your tired voice laced with hope.
Zhongli nodded, smoothing some more wispy strands of hair from your forehead where your messy bun had come a little looser. “I promise that I’ll make it worth your while,” he promised. “Better pay, plenty of perks, and, well, I know how much you love this place…” He smiled then, warm and adoring as he said, “So, of course, I do believe I could include free baths into the package for you. Though,” he jokingly warned, “you should expect a fair amount of overtime…”
His hands traveled back up your body, gently cupping your breasts before tweaking the sensitive peaks of them, making you arch your back and squirm a little, whimpering as you tried to press further into his skillful touch. “You’d have to stay behind from time to time… Make sure that, even after closing, the water still feels just as good as you know it to be…” His teeth grazed against the shell of your ear, humming with satisfaction when he felt one of your hands lace through his long, silky hair, give a tug when his ministrations became a little rougher. He nipped at your jaw, clearly just enjoying teasing you now.
“So what do you say…?” he asked. “Want to work for me instead?”
You didn’t even have time to think about your answer before you were breathing out desperate pleas of, “Yes… Yes… Yes—!” his fingers and mouth making quick work at unraveling you again so quickly.
But, after you and Zhongli had both exited the bath, him carrying you to the shower and insisting on rinsing you off, carefully cleaning your body with vanilla-scented soap and a fluffy cloth, wrapping you in one of the oversized robes after he’d patted you dry, you’d been able to give him a real answer.
That, yes, you’d be delighted to quit your old job and come work for him, at a place that you already held dear to you. And, if it was with him, you didn’t mind the overtime. Might actually be looking forward to it, despite the fact that if you ever made that known to anyone else they’d think you were crazy.
And so, as the blizzard howled from beyond the building, you and Zhongli curling up together in the private suite he kept tucked away in the back of the business for himself when things got particularly busy and he needed to stay late to sort the books, for the first time in your life you thought you might actually like your job.
You certainly knew that you liked your boss.

Hello! Could I request a headcanon with Yelan, Zhongli, Xiao and Beidou if their s/o falling asleep on them? I hope this request isn’t too common 😅. Anyways, you could chose another characters if you want. I really love your writing ❤️❤️ Have a good day/night!
𝐒𝐖𝐄𝐄𝐓 𝐃𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐌𝐒, 𝐌𝐘 𝐋𝐎𝐕𝐄
synopsis: you fall asleep on them
characters: yelan, zhongli, xiao, and beidou x gn!reader (separately)
warnings: pure fluff, mentions of alcohol/ being drunk in beidou’s
notes: hi, thank you so much for the request! i’ve never written for this prompt before but i really enjoyed it!! i hope you have a good day/night as well
Tumblr media
yelan:
the two of you actually met through work and after getting to know each other you guys began dating!
and sometimes you guys will have a mission/investigation together
the only thing is, your work can be exhausting sometimes
all the running around and interrogating people, investigating suspicious activity, working under ningguang, etc. sometimes just got to be too much
and now that you and yelan were on another investigation together, you felt the exhaustion hitting you as you were staking out a building
not much was happening so you decided to shut your eyes for a few minutes
a few minutes turned into an hour and your head eventually slid down and leaned against yelan’s shoulder, who surprisingly hadn’t previously noticed your sleeping form
she sends you a hesitant glance, you two were supposed to be working the entire night
but as she gets a good look at your calm face, she sees your eyebags and slight frown, signs of tiredness and fatigue
she can’t help the soft smile that grazes her face and decides to watch out for you the rest of the night, doing your guys’ job while also letting you rest for a bit
besides, she liked it when you leaned on her for support sometimes
zhongli:
you and zhongli have been dating for awhile now
and one of your favorite things to do is walk along the harbor at night
the cool sea breeze mixed with the liveliness of liyue always made for a comfortable night
tonight in particular, though, you had decided to pick up some tea to go. it was cold and some hot tea would do just the trick to warm you up
you guys decided to sit on a bench for a bit and people watch while you drank your tea
you snuggled in close to him to ease your shivers and in return he wrapped an arm around you to pull you closer as he told you stories
you shut your eyes and smiled lovingly, his voice and body warmth were so comforting you couldn’t help but fall asleep on him
when he noticed, he gently took the cup from your hand and set it down next to him before pulling you closer to him and resting his head on your own
and as he glanced around at the other people of liyue harbor, he couldn’t imagine being any luckier than he already was being here with you
xiao:
you guys are both adepti and since you’ve been dating for years now, you always go out and protect liyue together
there was an insane increase in monsters and threats against liyue that even as an adeptus, you were getting tired
so when he noticed you were a bit fatigued from all the fighting, he decided to take you back to wangshu inn to get some lunch and take a break
smiley yanxiao had prepared you both a delicious meal and the two of you took it up to the upstairs balcony to eat
when you finished eating, you and xiao had remained in a comfortable silence
you moved to lay in his lap while he sat against a wall, the shade from the tree covering you both
whether it was the warm summer breeze, the nice meal you just had, or the feeling of xiao’s hand tracing little shapes on your face, you began to feel awfully tired
when xiao realized you had fallen asleep in his lap, he carefully picked you up and brought you to your shared room at the inn before returning to protecting liyue
normally he would scold you for falling asleep when you’re both adepti, but xiao couldn’t help the way his heart beat a little quicker and the ghost of a smile on his face seeing how peaceful you looked in your sleep
beidou:
you were a crew member of the crux fleet who also happened to be dating beidou
while you weren’t one to normally get drunk - at least not in the way she does- you did get drunk tonight
it was a big celebration and you couldn’t help it
you guys had just returned from inazuma and everyone was radiating with happiness from making a safe and enjoyable trip
so after hours of drinking and eating good food, you were out of it and so was beidou
she guided you up to a more secluded part of the ship away from the festivities and you rested your back against her chest, tucking your head into her neck while she wrapped her arms around your waist
the two of you laughed loudly as she told you various stories of the sea and you told her some of your own
she even pointed out some constellations to you, something you loved that she did
but because you were drunk, her movements and her voice were so mesmerizing to you
maybe it was that, or maybe it was the alcohol that was making you so tired. but as you looked up at the stars, you couldn’t help but begin to drift off
“close your eyes, love,” beidou gently whispered as she placed her coat over your body.
you shut your eyes and smiled, you could never refuse falling asleep in the arms of your lover

❇ Pairing:  Zhongli x gn!reader
❇ Summary: He looks at you as if you were someone else whenever he tucks glaze lilies behind your ear. part 2
❇ Category: Angst
❇ Note: I blame all those glimpse of us tiktoks about Zhongli for this. /hj
Tumblr media
“I love you, you do know that, my dear?” He tucks a glaze lily behind your ear, you did not understand the sudden question from your lover but you nod as you take his hand to cup your cheeks.
Safe to say, you and your relationship with the man are in every way perfect. Your hands fit each other's like puzzle pieces, and your hearts beat in unison, some might even say that it seemed like the both of you knew each other for a thousand years. A grin tugs on your cheeks as you quietly thank the man for his small gesture.
“Of course I do and I love you just as much,” You smile and place a kiss on the palm of his hand, “Why do you suddenly ask? Is anything bothering you, Zhongli?” You only ask him in formality, a way to start a conversation with him.
It was just before sunrise, and both you and your lover strolled in a field of glaze lilies. You knew how much he adored those flowers, how he gently pluck them out from the ground, and would always tuck one to your ear. It would not be the first time the both of you spent time in this place. He always told you that when he looks at glaze lilies he would often remember you—at least that’s what he tells you.
He shakes his head before his eyes fall on the patch of glaze lilies on the ground, “Nothing. I just love you,” He whispered, but something in his voice makes it sound like he was convincing himself he loved you rather than declaring he did and it makes him internally wince. But you don’t notice that. You never do.
Perhaps that’s why he was a bit frustrated; how you let him hold you with no repercussions or any venom in your voice, how you still kiss him tenderly or let him stare at your eyes despite trying to find something else from it. He was a selfish man. It disgusted him terribly.
“I just wanted to tell you I love you dearly,” he quickly adds, but his downturned head says otherwise and your smile slowly drops.
“Are you sure?” You placed your hand on his cheek to make him look at you, “I’m worried now.” You frowned. You try to look for anything wrong with the area or think of anything that happened before you arrived that could've made your lover upset. But there was nothing.
And Zhongli could not look at you at that moment, as all his guilt comes crashing down, and like claws, it bares through his heart that he thought he surely locked away. How could an archon like himself feel so helpless under your caring gaze? He truly did not deserve you—That was for sure.
“Please look at me,” You whisper but it comes out as a plea. This was the first time Zhongli has ever avoided your gaze, and you start to second guess yourself. “Have I done something wrong to make you this way, my love?”
He widens his eyes and finally turns to you as he cups your cheek, “No, you could never Ghuizhong—” And he stops himself, his mouth slightly opened as he watched your lip tremble in confusion.
And at that moment he knew he had done something terrible, unforgivable even. His soft hands that cup your face drop to his side, “[Name]...” His voice trails.
“Ghuizhong,” You murmured to yourself as your heart tightens, a lump in your throat growing as you looked at Zhongli who was once more not looking in your direction. His stature was explanation enough to let you know what was going on.
“I see,” you meekly said. And if you were in a better position you would’ve let out an airy chuckle, I mean— what took you so long to figure out your lover’s odd actions and occasional distance. “Have I been a placeholder for her all this time?”
You were a lot of things, but you were not a fool. You could easily put two and two together and in fairness, you could thank Zhongli’s honesty in helping you. Ghuizhong was not a name you knew nothing about, your lover has always been so open in his life as an archon who has lived years in this land. But never did you think that Ghuizhong was someone he held close to him.
Zhongli breathes out in defeat. You were as straightforward as ever, perhaps one of the qualities that attracted him to you. “I do not mean to compare you to her, both of you are different people in different times—”
“—But you do, don’t you? You look at me and see her in a way,” You don’t let him finish, not especially when he still won’t look you in the eyes. Your hand threads on the lily on the side of your head before you handed it to the man in front of you, “That’s why you can’t bear to look at me.”
And in the leftover courage he had left, Zhongli’s head looks at your teary-eyed face, and he hated the way when he saw you he caught a glimpse of someone else’s teary look instead of yours. He then realized that he could never keep you or Guizhong to himself at the same time.
And the lily that had been on your hair falls to the ground.

A DARE?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
You were playing true or dare with NINGGUANG and BEIDOU. And that's when they gave you the dumbest dare you ever heard. You don't know if it's a joke or not but you take it seriously either way. The dare sounds simple but not really.
"Try to sleep with Mr Zhongli" they said.
"are you done?" A question asked as soon as you come out from the bathroom.
You look at Zhongli, who's sitting on bed with a book in his hand. He is probably reading that while waiting for you. His hair is wet and he only has a robe on. You can see his leg from the split of the robe. Your face turned red.
Zhongli closed the book he read and put it on the bedside. He then held out his hand " come here " Zhongli said. You turn away, looking at the wall. You start having second thoughts. It's probably not a good idea.
"Why are you getting shy now?" . You can hear steps coming towards you. Then you saw a hand from behind, placed on the wall. "You are the one who invited me" said Zhongli. You can feel his breath on your neck. He's so close. Suddenly there's something warm and yet licking your ears.
You flutter by his action that makes you turn back real quick. Knowing that'll be your reaction, Zhongli pushes you to walls and traps you. "Trying to run away?" He leans towards you. His head is getting closer. You didn't answer him. Your eyes look at his lips as he comes really close to you wanting for it to touch yours. Nervously waiting for the kiss. The lips almost touch. But he stopped.
Eyes on him. You wondered why he stopped. He didn't say anything and standing straight. Zhongli grabs your head and brings it to his chest. Practically hugging you. His hands around your head slowly pet you as he said "if you don't want it just say so. Your face turned blue as you forgot to breathe."
"It's a dare from Ningguang and Beidou right?" He continues as you didn't respond to him. You confused how he knows about it but you just nodded.
Zhongli takes your hand and brings you to the bed. He pushes you to make you sit on it while he kneels in front of you. He didn't let your hand go.
"You know, this is not the first time those two give such a dare to people around them. I usually turn them down. Because they are strangers." Zhongli said as he rubs your cold hand and hoping that could calm you down. It works. "You are the first one who I didn't turn down" Zhongli looked up so that his eyes met yours. And he smiled.
"But.. why? I'm literally a stranger too" you confused.
Zhongli giggle. "You are not. I have been noticing you for awhile actually. And you are attractive in every way." He takes your hand and brings it to his lips then kisses it.
You blushed. You don't know how to respond. Zhongli looks so honest and every action of him gives you butterflies. His huge warm hand is still holding your hand without any intention to let it go. His finger doesn't stop rubbing your hand.
His hair that's wet just now is kinda dry and looks fluffy. You can't resist rubbing his hair. Zhongli looked shocked and so are you. You were distracted. Again, Zhongli laughed. You take your hand back after you realize that's inappropriate but Zhongli takes your hand and puts it back on his head.
"You can touch me y/n" He closed his eyes as he said that. Probably waiting for you to touch him more. Zhongli just merely closed his eyes. Didn't smile or anything. But he looks really stunning. His face has no flaws. He has a really long eyelash and sharp nose. His somehow thick eyebrow really looks good on his face also. Without realizing, you stare at him.
Your eyes are now going down and focusing on his lips. Zhongli's lips aren't thick and not plump. But it looks wide and kissable.
"I wish I could kiss your lips" your thoughts slip your mouth. You covered your mouth with the hand you put on Zhongli's head just now. Smells the same as your shampoo you used just now.
Zhongli's eyebrow twitching as he heard your words. He slowly opens his eyes and looks at you. "You can't kiss me if you're that far"
He let your hand loose and stand a little. Zhongli rests his hand on the bed and comes close to you. His head and you are so close that you literally can hear and feel his breath. His eyes didn't focus on your eyes. But on your lips. He has been focusing on your lips for a while. You could see his Adam's apple moving due to the saliva that he swallowed. Zhongli looks so ready to devour your lips.
You move forward a little as you are trying to be bold. You could see Zhongli's smirk. He's happy with your actions. But he didn't move. You don't know what he's waiting for but you can't take it anymore. You want Zhongli to take the lead but he seems to be teasing you. You give up listening to your ego that you grab Zhongli's hair.
He was shocked by your actions but he didn't say anything. "Please, please touch me" you beg of him.
After hearing your plead, without waiting Zhongli tilts his head a little and starts kissing you. He's gentle but you don't need this side of him. You want more. You grab his hair a bit harder and bite his lips. You can hear his lil groan and that makes you more.. hornier. As his mouth opened, you let yourself in him.
Zhongli let your tongue in his mouth before his tongue enters your. His tongue is so long that it almost suffocates you. He's good at kissing. Too good. But your little experience makes it messy. You are too greedy. You catch your breath and Zhongli just looks at you. Didn't say anything. Probably trying to think you have a drastic change. He's not complaining. In fact he's glad.
"Do you prefer me take the lead or you want me to make you submit to me?" Zhongli asked. "Because I personally hate people disobeying me. And i also don't want to force my way to people"
You bite your lips as you don't know how to reply. "I.. i don't mind. Didn't i beg you to touch me earlier? I hope you do it as much as you want"
"I might be too rough--"
"I don't mind." You cut Zhongli's words.
Zhongli nod once as he understood your request. "I won't disappoint you" he said. Zhongli put his both hands on your butt and pulled u closer to him. You shocked. He then grabbed your head closer to his face and began to kiss you. His tongue playfully plays with your tongue. Your saliva dropped from your mouth.
You feel something rubbing your stomach and thigh. It was Zhongli's hands. His big hand grabs and rubs those two areas. Probably try to make your body comfortable with his touch. Seeing your face relaxed, his hand started to travel to a more dangerous area. His huge arm scoop your boobs and start massaging it.
"Have i mentioned how smooth your skin is?" Zhongli said as he play with your nipple . You used to not feel anything when someone touched your boobs or teased your nipples but there's something different about Zhongli's touch.
"Ahh" you moaned. The sensation u feel between ur legs and your nipples makes you let your voice come out. You, who were shocked, close your mouth and try to not let any voices leave.
"Oh. You are trying to hold your voices in?" He asked as he put his finger in you. You definitely can feel something entering your private area. Your womanhood. The pussey.
He goes down to your nipple and sucks it while his long finger arches inside yours. Zhongli uses his other hand to play with your clit and that makes your back arches. Your legs widened as if you want more. Understand to your body language, Zhongli put another finger and started fingering you.
"Zhongli- I" you can't finish your sentence. Or you'll moan. The room full of wet sounds your pussy produces and the heavy noises you let out.
"Hurm? I can't hear you. Your pussy let out such a slutty noise" Zhongli rubs faster. "Can you hear that?" He asked as he bite and lick you nipples.
You close. You can feel the thing. You going to come if this keep up. You grab his head and hug his head.
"You close?" Zhongli asked as he slowed down his pace. "Ah.. you are" he said as he entered the third finger. You are so wet that it comes in with no problem. He thrusts you much more faster.
"Wait wait no--" without letting you deny your climax , Zhongli grabbed your chin and kissed you. He pushes you down and top you as he feels hot liquids on his hand.
Zhongli opened his mouth and moved away from you. You can see saliva dripping from his tongue. You are too tired to say anything. The orgasm you felt takes too much energy. Zhongli hasn't put his thing in you yet but you are already tired.
"You look so cute right now y/n" he said as he aching his two fingers in your pussy. It makes you arch your back and -
"Ahh zhongli stop-" you plead him. You tried to close your legs and prevent him from keeping going but Zhongli's hands are much stronger than yours. You turn to the side and grab the pillow. Letting your voice out on it. You can hear Zhongli chuckle with your actions. Zhongli took out his finger and cleaned it with tissues he got from the side table.
You just look at him without moving. Zhongli who stands beside the bed looks so attractive somehow. He just cleans his hand with tissues that have your cum but the way he does it. He put the tissues he used on the side table. He slick his hair back. Probably uncomfy with his wet bangs.
He picked a tie out of nowhere. Probably tie for your robe. Then he looks at you. The gaze his gave was so cold. "Do you want to continue?"
You look at him and look at the tie he has on his hand. 'Will he.. tie me?' you muttered to yourself.
"If you don't then we can stop" he continues.
"Will you go all the way?" You asked.
Zhongli laughed. He walks to you and sits really close to you who's lying on bed, tired. "Of course." He said. He takes your hand and plays with it a bit like he did before.
"If you say so.."
"But with one request. I'll not stop even if you told me to stop." He looks at you. Waiting for your answer but you didn't say anything. He seems really serious with what he said. "But I will stop if you say my favorite wine. I know you know". He continue.
You nodded. "Taste the same as you remember right?"
He chuckle. "Sounds like everybody in Liyue knows my drinks. So now, may I?"

A Love Not Meant to Be: Zhongli Part 3 (end)
Notes: Final part! I hope you guys enjoyed this one, I loved writing it :) Might disappear again for a few weeks unannounced but who knows.
Summary: Right person wrong time basically + reincarnation.
Warning/s: Angst no comfort, a lot of lore spoilers
Theme/s: Angst, no comfort, angst tropes.
Trope: Right Person, Wrong Time/Immortal x Mortal
(PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE listen to Glimpse of Us by Joji while reading)
Parts: Part 1, Part 2
Continuing your life with Zhongli after your contract was blissful. Despite the doubts you both had, it was a happy, calm life you shared. Zhongli never thought that anyone like him- a wild, young adeptus always looking for a fight- could be able to live such a tranquil life with a human that grounded him to the simplicity that was a mortal existence. He loves you now more than ever. Zhongli is more tranquil now knowing that each day he gets to wake up next to you, that happy little smile on your face being the first thing he sees in the morning. ‘Good morning, Morax’ being the first thing he hears, and the soothing caress of your hands on his face being the first thing he feels. He remembers this feeling for the ages, the memory subduing him when he feels he needs it most. But that’s in the future. Right now, he’s living with you and learning to live in the moment.
Time seemed to move slower now. The routine you two had was the only thing that Zhongli had in mind. He seemed to forget that he was an adeptus at some points, forgetting his past of battles and his warrior-like prowess, now replaced by the tender love he had as your lover. The past seemed so distant, but the future felt so haunting. Zhongli thought he would be able to carry the weight of your passing- that the transience of your life with his wouldn’t be as detrimental as you told him. How wrong could he have been? Zhongli, at some point, began to notice time unraveling on your features; you’re growing old, the wrinkles of your smile becoming defined and the look in your eyes growing wiser. To him, you looked as remarkable as the day you had met, but it was clear that the inevitable was bound to happen. Zhongli became fearful as he never really thought that it would be so soon, but you were more than prepared. To you, you’re living a long life of prosperity, blessed by a peaceful existence shared with a man you loved. You knew Zhongli was afraid and unprepared, and you tried your best to keep his spirits up, telling him to live in this moment with you. However, Zhongli’s limited grasp on your mortality was clear. He wasn’t ready to lose you. He couldn’t. He didn’t ever want you to go.
He couldn’t stomach the instance of your passing. Zhongli truly wasn’t prepared for the day until it came. He didn’t think it would be the time yet. You looked healthy, you were mobile, but you told him ages ago about the unpredictability of death. You went peacefully in your sleep, in the resting hours of the afternoon where you would have been up in the mountain with Zhongli. He would wake you from your nap, and tell you that it’s time to go up to your favorite spot. You would smile at him and wrap your arms around his neck. Zhongli would carry you, he always had, up to that mountain top where you would watch the sunset together. He didn’t even notice how frail you’d gotten through the years, how weak you became, and always thought you had come to love being carried around by him. And at night, he would lift you back home as he would tell you about his stories on the way home. Zhongli would sleep with a peace of mind that your shared routine would never end- and it would stay like this till the end of days. On that fateful evening however, the breeze fell silent, as you were. That day was missing your smile, your arms embracing Zhongli’s figure, and a simple response to go. Something washed over Zhongli before the downpour he expected- a calm, a silence. He calls for you one more time, and you only lay there, a languid look on your face in the guile of sleep. You weren’t present for the crash that came after as you lay limply in the arms of your beloved. You couldn’t hear Zhongli cry and shout in the middle of the village. The desperate tone and agony in his voice as he yelled for help, screamed your name in hopeless abandon, chanting about how you haven’t even seen the sunset yet today.
It was quite the heartbreaking and terrifying sight to see; an Adeptus so distraught and inconsolable that the event would be enough to render Zhongli to his dragon-like appearance. His roars of pain were almost earth-shattering as they echoed through the emptiness of the valley and shook rocks off of mountain tops. But you never moved, and neither did the villagers. They weren’t afraid. They understood the love Zhongli had for you, and they tried their best to convince him to let you go, in that moment, and the empty years that would come after. Zhongli seeked for the refuge that was your touch, the hearth you provided with your embrace- but all he could muster against the numbness was the cold of death, and the sheer loneliness that surged through his body. He never wanted to let you go.
Zhongli never anticipated it to be this bad. The bitterness of the nights he spent isolated in the darkest corners of Liyue, far from those close to him, and farther from the place that he called ‘home’ with you. To him, nothing else could be home if you were gone. Death was as permanent and as permeating as you had told him. He now understood what you meant; the true gravity of loss. The feeling of suffocating for days on end, the ache that pinpointed each part of your chest, the clouded memories that used to bring joy now only cause misery. He had lived through this one too many times, but your passing had felt tremendous. At least with those before you, they lived for centuries. You only lived your short human years. You were only a blip in the eons of lives he’s lived, a mere speck in the time frame of his past, his present and future; a potential in what you could have been had you been immortal.
But it was better this way. Zhongli didn’t want to see you succumb to the darkness and erosion, to fight a war you didn’t want, to live a long but miserable life. He’d rather have you lay dormant in his mind, perpetually living in the happier years of your shared life, than stay with him during the fall of Teyvat.
You didn’t live long enough to see the Archon war and the Cataclysm that followed. Soon, your little village turned to ruin and sank beneath the earth after the gods of old expanded their domains across Liyue. You were lucky to be spared the tragedy that followed. You didn’t see Zhongli become the ruthless Lord of Geo, nor did you see him side with Celestia against a long forgotten nation. He was glad you had departed before that. He wouldn’t want you to see him that way. Zhongli always thought that in those moments- during the slaughter, the bloodshed and catastrophe- would his memory finally give him peace by removing you from his mind once and for all. But each time Zhongli would spill the blood of another would he remember you; clear as day and brighter than the gold of the earth. He knew why; he needed your comfort more than ever. When gods decimated each other as spoils of war would he seek for the peacefulness of your passing, the mercy of the life you offered to him.
Until then, when Zhongli rose victorious in the long-drawn battle would he forget you for a time. During the golden age of Liyue, the establishment of the harbor and his duty as an overseer- Zhongli pushes you far back in his mind. He thought that now, he would have more time to remember you, but he was just fulfilling the wish you wanted for him. You wanted him to be happy when he would have the chance to.
Unknown to you of course, your memory still nestles warmly in the back of Zhongli’s mind- always waiting to wake when given time. In moments when he is deep in the shackles of his past does he find peace in his old companions; in you best of all. He calls out your name in the darkest hours hoping for the repose that was your voice, he recounts his time with you in the silence of the sunset you had loved, he tries to remember… more so than he attempts to forget. He had long since forgotten your face, a factor he finds so cruel. How unforgiving could fate be to give Zhongli’s mind this circumstance? He remembers everything else; his time with you still resonates clearly within him. The sweetest taste of your kiss, your hands holding his, your beautiful voice and laughter. It pains Zhongli to know he had you by his side for a time, a mortal so influential that your impact outlived the many that came before and after you. Yet he doesn’t even remember what you looked like. In years of searching for a photo, a painting, a rendition even, of the person he called Y/N, nothing came about. It was truly the bitter end you’ve expected and cursed. You warned him countless times about the repercussions of loving a mortal. You always hoped that Zhongli- your Morax- would forget you in due time, but this somehow hurts far worse. He just needed to see you once more, but even that the world cannot provide. To know that Zhongli is unable to uphold your final wish, that he can never let go of the fleeting life you had built with him many, many years ago, was truly the warning he should have followed. Even now he still searches for the forgotten dream of the bygone past- a dream you once shared with him, a dream he feels he can never have the chance of having again.
He feels as though he should have done more during those years when he was still young and in love. Sometimes, Zhongli wants to convince himself he regrets ever meeting you. Then he wonders where he would have been had he not met you on that fateful day. Maybe he’d turn out to be this loveless tyrant, maybe things would remain the same. He curses himself for thinking he would ever regret meeting you. You gave him his happy years; albeit short, they were sweet, fulfilling, and he had never felt more loved in his life. Zhongli sometimes lies awake at night wondering all the things that could have been- the past and how so many things could lead to a different future. He wishes he should have kissed you more, spent more time with you, let you win an argument just to see you smile. Would he have more memories of you then? Would he remember your face more clearly? Would your touch, your kiss, your voice, be his final resting place? Would you still be his lasting solitude?
Please, Zhongli begs to the fate that had come between you. Let me try again, once more, a few more times.
In the downtime hours of his day would Zhongli think about these things the most. Amidst the gentle bustle of the Harbor’s streets would your presence pierce through his minds unexpectedly. Everytime, Zhongli wishes he can will you by his side to share this form of banal domesticity as you two had in the past. Today, fate decided to fulfill Zhongli’s little wish.
“Hello there.” A voice says. Zhongli freezes in place, as if something so dreadful and harrowing sliced through him like a blade. He recognizes that voice; the voice of a distant past, echoing the lost dreams and broken promises of a person no longer remembered. A voice that, against the busy city streets, could be known by him for miles away, years away. The voice from someone lost to time, forever remaining in the Geo Archon’s heart. Zhongli was afraid to look, but slowly, he turned and what met him nearly made his stone-like stance crumble.
“Y/N,” Zhongli mumbles, breathless and desperate but certain. In front of him was you, a reincarnation of you at least. It felt unreal to him to meet you in this way; an encounter that seemed so familiar in which his now ordinary life was met with something not so ordinary. The same way you had met, your simplicity clashing with his divine presence. In this moment, it felt as though the worlds would collide as soon as Zhongli had said your name.
“Have we met before?” You ask. What a coincidence. You even have the same name.
“No, I…” Zhongli sputters, forcing his tears away. It pained him to see you, even more so when you don’t even know who he is. It truly felt that your love was lost to time, that only he was left to cherish the moments you held so dearly.
“You looked like someone I know.”
You nod and smile kindly at him. The action nearly made Zhongli buckle. Your face remains unchanged, features only he knows by heart are still there. After all these years of searching, he has finally seen your face. To him, however, it feels more dreadful than anything.
In the millions of lives you’ve possibly lived without him, and in the singular life he’s endured without you, why now? Why is it only on this day, in this moment, did fate decide to have you meet in this fashion. In the time when Zhongli was at the peak of his grief, in the years of enduring it for your sake and the proclamation of his undying love to you; how could fate toy with him in such a cruel way?
“What’s your name?” You ask. Zhongli swallows dryly and he almost, almost, introduces himself as Morax in hopes that maybe a sliver of the past would appear in your mind. But he stops himself.
“Zhongli.” He says. “I go by Zhongli.”
A glimmer appears in your eye- a look that one might have when they meet an old friend. You smile warmly and Zhongli was struck in the gut once more.
“Zhongli…” you mumble. Zhongli couldn’t help but flinch. It was odd, this feeling. To see his Y/N’s face, manner, their soul, in the body of another. To hear his name be said by ‘you’ after a millennia of your fleeting voice still resonating in his mind. To be able to see you again, not you, but someone else- alive and unaware of the love you had shared with him those many lives you had years prior. But Zhongli only smiled cordially. It had been the same feeling those thousands of years ago; of heartache and giddiness and of joy and pain. No matter the feeling, no matter the ache, Zhongli recognized his Y/N- and you always felt like home.
“Well, Mr. Zhongli,” you beam. “You look pretty knowledgeable. Why not show me around Liyue harbor for a bit? I’m traveling the world, you see.” Zhongli feels his heart flutter. He wanted to, so badly, to be close to you once more- to continue where you had left off and love you time and time again, for a million more years if fate was forgiving enough to allow him. But Zhongli was also fearful. He doesn’t know if he can handle another millenia of loneliness. He doesn’t know whether or not he can live through another instance of your passing. He doesn’t know if he can handle ever forgetting your face, and live through years of grief and searching to find you again. Zhongli wants to try again, but he doesn’t know if he can let go of his heart still tethered to the Y/N now lost to time.
“I… I can’t.” Zhongli says finally. Usually, he would be more than elated to share the tales of old with others, especially if it were you, but he could do nothing but stare at your face, tears stinging in his eyes. As much as he wants to share this moment with you, he cannot bear the thought of being so close to you now, and you don’t even recall the history you had with him. It wasn’t the same. He saw the familiarity in your eyes; the past, this present, and what could have been your future together. Zhongli only saw you in their eyes, and it hurt him to think that he could try again and love your current self to replicate the life he had with you from before.
It’s his Y/N he needs.
My Y/N, he thinks. My Y/n.
But he cannot do that to you- he’ll never hurt you in that way. His Y/N or not, you are the same, and he will love you in any form you take.
“I’m quite busy today, maybe some other time.” Zhongli follows up. He may love you still, but he still cannot let go of the tormenting past that was your life with him. As much as Zhongli wants to let go, to finally allow your memory to rest with the others, he thinks he is only doing a disservice to you if he does. He doesn’t want to betray you, as much as you wished he would at this moment.
“Ah, well, that’s okay.” You say with a smile. “Hope to see you around. I’ll only be here for a week.” Zhongli smiles back.
“Likewise.” His voice was barely a whisper as Zhongli watched you turn and wave goodbye, slipping from his fingers once more.
It will never be the same, won’t it? He thinks. Your confused expression when he came up to you, the strained friendliness you had towards him as a stranger, everything about you belonging to the ‘you’ he loved from before- but you’re just a stranger. You weren’t the Y/N from the past. It wasn’t your fault, but the pain made Zhongli feel betrayed. However, he cannot outrun the reality that was your existence.
As much as he tried, as much as you begged of him too, he loved you too much to let you go. You exist now with him, your soul reincarnated in this odd twist of fate, to urge him to release the tormenting weight that was your memory. But he cannot, not yet at least. Maybe it was meant to be this way- he needed to leave you alone this time and to allow himself to heal of the past that you blessed him with. He’ll love you from afar; from the distant memory of your shared past, to the ever moving flow of the present. Zhongli will love you, and in time, he hopes he will once again have the courage to love you in the form of another.
Until then, his heart still yearns for the day he will be reunited with the mortal he had loved in days of old.  Even when history has already erased you from this earth, no story is there to retell your ordinary life, and your soul is always waiting to be reborn in another, Zhongli will still remember. Clear as day, bright as the gold of the earth.

Tumblr media
You don’t know what came over you. You are tired of playing nice and subtle. Trying to get him to undenrstand that you just wanted his big cock inside you is so so hard. it’s not like you have never done it before.. it’s just that you wanted to do it again. It has been so long since they last touch you and to say that you are touch deprive is a understatement.
So you set up a plan. You wear the most lavish lingerie in his favorite colour. You’ll play dumb and be innocent while a bunny plug sticks to your hole so deliciously.
“Honey, I am home” they softly called out like usual. Per usual, you are there to meet and greet him with the sweet simple of yours, the difference is in the way you clothes. “Hello my lovely husband” you greeted almost too cheerfully “I made the dinner for you” You stated with a smile. He looks at you, eyes widen “H-Honey- wh-what are you wearing?”. Just like your plan, you feign innocent and looked at your husband cluelessly. “I am just wearing the new sleepwear that I buy.. why? Does it look weird?” you asked, knowing full well it looks so good on you. You looked down and look back at your outfit, pretending to check yourself out “Nothing is weird honey.. let’s eat. The food will get cold”. You took his hand and turn your back towards him with a smile on your face.
You started to prepare his food on the table, as you bend a little to take some food to pair with his rice, that’s when he notice. The little fluff ball on your ass that adorn your ass so luciously. As per usual he tries to be a gentleman and try not look down. Keyword Try, but he fail’s miserably. He keeps glancing at your ass and the way your body moved. That’s when you know that all it took is a little push til he break.
He takes a seat and try to focus on his plate. He tries to take one of the condiment on the far end of the table but you beat him to it. “Oh! I am so sorry.. let me grab it food you” Your bend your body as far as the condiment goes and take it. For him it is the last straw. He stood up and pulled you towards him, making you let out a surprised noise. “If you thought by acting dumb, you’ll get away, then I am sorry dear. you are severely mistaken”.
Your feet are lifted off the ground as you are carried like a sack of potatoes by him. You whimper and wiggle, keeping up with your act. “Pu-put me down- eek!” you squeal as he slaps your ass “Quiet”. Your body is thrown onto the bed as he traps your body between his strong arms. He flipped your body with ease and pull your ass up, facing him. He gave it a hard alp that echoed throughout the room. “Such a Naughty bunny..” He muttered and gave you another slap, making your body jolt up. Your wetness already seeps out of your flimsy panties. “P-Please.. I-I need you” you whine. He lets out a deep and almost dark laugh as he cups your pussy. “Tomorrow I shall take a day off.. It’s time to take care of my little cute wife”. That’s when you know, you won’t be able to walk for a couple of days.. at least you get what you wanted soon.
Your favourite gentle dragon man <3

a modest proposal
"Would you let me stay by your side for the rest of my life?”
tags: soft Zhongli, canon divergence (Zhongli has mora), fem!reader, Zhongli and reader are in a relationship, proposal, dinner date, zhongli being Zhongli, he knows he's slightly out of touch but he's trying
masterlist | ao3 link | taglist | next
i'm also taking requests for the rest of the flufftober days, feel free to leave any suggestions, no matter how self-indulgent they may be.
Tumblr media
You've always been very vocal about things people do that they pretend are for their benefit, but are actually power plays to show the rest of the world how well they're doing. Namely, useless degrees in the Akedemiya, (You once met someone who had a degree in rockology. When you told Zhongli, he laughed and said he wouldn't teach a rockology class, because by simply opening his mouth, he would already be speaking at a level higher than most of the class's comprehension. You said he was harsh, but not incorrect.) massive houses that you spend most of your life cleaning, (your house was the only exception to the rule, since the only beings around were adepti, and they truly didn't care enough about you to pass judgement, for better or for worse) and finally marriage.
You were very against marriage. Or at least the silly kind you often encountered in Teyvat—people were married, but barely even knew each other's names. They just got a kick out of saying 'my wife' or 'my partner' and it irked you. You were essentially married to an Archon, but did you scream it off the rooftops? Technically, you screamed it off the mountains, but that was more Zhongli's fault than yours.
But Zhongli, being the most annoyingly perfect man on Teyvat, seems to see right through your act. It wasn't that you didn't want to be married. You just didn't want to be caught in the kind that made you feel suffocated. Some nights, when Zhongli was fast asleep and you found your thoughts drifting, you wondered whether you'd really want to be married to him. You concluded that you essentially acted like a married couple anyway, so it would just be an excuse for you to wear a pretty dress, which again, you weren't too bothered for or against. You wouldn't reject it if it were ever to happen, but you wouldn't actively chase it either.
Or at least, that’s what you’ve been telling yourself, instead of getting your hopes up. Over the past week or so, Zhongli has been banging on about doing things the ‘human’ way. That involves actually walking to places instead of letting you teleport, carrying your own groceries home instead of letting him teleport them home…It seems Zhongli views teleporting things as inherently unhuman, despite the fact that you spend your time teleporting across Teyvat. You’ve kept that particular commentary to yourself.
He keeps taking you on lavish, expensive dates—that you thoroughly enjoy—but always serve to remind you that you’d rather be at home with him, quietly reading a book together.
So today, you decide that even though it’s going to sound rude, you’ll tell him that you’d much rather be at home with him. That is, you’ll tell him after you’ve devoured your food.
“Are you alright? You’re eating much slower than usual.” Zhongli says to you, nudging you slightly under the table. He never sits opposite you, always next to you, as if you being on the other side of the table is too far away from him.
“Hm?” You look up from your plate. “I’m alright. Are you?”
“I’m also alright,” he chuckles. “You’re being really quiet. Have I done something to offend you?”
You feel your eyes widen. You hadn’t realised that you’d been showing your emotions on your face so clearly. “No, not at all!” You protest. “Actually, if anything, you’ve done the opposite. All these dates, and the good food… I’ve really enjoyed it. Thank you.”
“You’re more than welcome,” Zhongli smiles. He was worried he’d come off as too overbearing or creepy by being so frivolous with his spending with you. But the god of mora could always make more(a), so he didn’t see the need to be so frugal with his cash. He was beginning to worry that you would grow to dislike the quiet nights at home.
“But I have to ask,” You twist the ring Zhongli gave you. Today, like some other days, he’s gifted you a new outfit to wear. You try to not take it to mean that he doesn’t like the rest of the clothes in your wardrobe. He wasn’t often one to add jewellery, and when you started to look at it more closely, he finally finished dressing and you made your way to the restaurant, so you didn't get to have a good enough look. “What’s going on with these dates? I enjoy them, don’t get me wrong, but I miss our quiet nights at home.”
“That’s because you’re in heat again, aren’t you, love?” Zhongli jokes.
You squeal in shock, glancing quickly around the room. “You shouldn’t say things like that in public. I am not in heat.” You hiss quietly. He chuckles, taking your hand in his. "I don't go into heat. I don't have the biological facilities for that."
“In all honesty, I would not be surprised if you did, and simply didn't know it," he smiles. "As for the dates, I thought that you’d maybe miss the more normal aspects of being in a relationship. I suppose I overdid it though.” He sighs. “I don’t want you to resent me for being so unconventional.”
You can’t help it. You laugh. “Li, when have I ever wanted anything conventional? All I’ve wanted is to be with you. I keep telling you, and you don’t listen. I don’t care about fanfare, okay? I care about us.”
“So you don’t mind being behind the rest of your friends?”
“Of course I don’t. Sometimes, I wonder if we really have much in common anymore. All they ever want to do is talk about their husbands and the children they’re going to have and their scheduled—”
“You don’t want any of that?” Zhongli asks you.
“No, I think the whole scheduling thing is more headache than it’s worth.”
“I am not talking about that. You’re not interested in having a husband or children?”
“Li,” you sigh, cupping his face lightly. “I don't care about the semantics, as long as it’s with you. I admit those aren't my priorities in life, but I don’t mind either way. Why do you look nauseous?” You’ve never seen Zhongli look so out of his element before. The only other time was when he first asked you to meet him.
“Because I feel nauseous,” Zhongli replies, chuckling softly. “I know being married isn’t very high up on your list of priorities, and I know you don’t care for it, but I’d like to do things the human traditional way, like you did for me. I’d like to afford you the same luxuries.”
To be completely honest, the whole dragon mate thing was the most lowkey tradition you’d ever experienced, and that made you pretty happy. But as much as you want to pretend like you have no feelings for or against being married, the inner child who longed to be married is squealing her head off.
“You want to get married?”
“Only if you do. It doesn’t have to be a ridiculously grand affair, it could even be solely the two of us,” Zhongli flushes. “I don’t want you to feel like I’ve deprived you of an experience you clearly want.”
“You’d marry me? Even if it were to change nothing about the way we live?”
“I see the way you stutter when you introduce me to your acquaintances. At least this way, you could say ‘my husband’ and not have to deal with the confused stares.” Zhongli smiles. “And I’d like your parents to feel secure in the fact that I’m not going to disappear.”
Now you start to tear up. You haven’t visited your parents in so long, whisked away by the demanding nature of your life as an adventurer-come-errand runner, but Zhongli is right. All they ever wanted for you was for you to be happy and secure. The fact he thought about your parents completely sways you. If there was ever a fragment of doubt in your mind about whether you’d refuse him or not, it’s shattered now.
“What do you say, love?” Zhongli asks, taking your hand and twisting your ring slightly. “Will you marry me? Would you let me stay by your side for the rest of my life?”
Now the tears are really falling, and you don’t want to draw attention to yourself, so you nod as vigorously as you can manage. “Of course I will,” you sniff.
Zhongli kisses your hand, and as he lowers it, a light catches your ring, and it suddenly dawns on you.
“You made me put on my own engagement ring?” You ask him, slapping his shoulder lightly. Of course, he would make you do all the work. He even left you to figure out the ring's significance by yourself!
“Well, I thought it was too pretty to go to waste if you didn’t accept my proposal. I didn’t want you to dislike it.”
You study the ring in more detail. It’s not like the normal engagement rings your friends flash at you, and you’re grateful for it. It’s marbled with gold and brown crystal, and topped with a shimmering Cor Lapis. It’s almost a ring version of Zhongli, and that makes you love it even more.
“So,” You smile. “What type of rock is the brown crystal?”
Zhongli clears his throat. “It’s not a crystal.” You tilt your head in confusion, and Zhongli explains further. “I have an adeptus friend who likes to collect things, not that he’d openly admit to it. He had a couple of my scales saved from before I had a vaguely humanoid form, so I called in a favour.”
Your jaw drops. “This is a piece of you?”
“Does that offend you?” Zhongli asks, quickly. “I can always get it changed.”
Even if it did, you’d never tell him that, not after he’d put all this effort into putting it together for you.
“No. Don't do that. I love it,” You smile. “I love you.”
a/n my mother watched me write this and asked why i looked like i was crying so i told her i was doing schoolwork and she just nodded

this melody was familiar.
too familiar.
zhongli looked up in disbelief when he remembered the melody of the composition guizhong had put together for him all those centuries ago.
it had been so long since everything changed in his life – he was no longer an archon and proceeded to live amongst the people of liyue, without anyone suspecting a thing. he was just … a normal person.
but the melody you were playing on the piano brought back memories he spent ages to forget. the images of him and his past lover almost had him in tears but he was able to fight them off. at least for now.
zhongli left your concert shortly after. he continued on to yujing terrace to clear his mind.
who were you? how did you know about that specific composition? as far as zhongli remembered – and his memory was never at fault – guizhong never shared those notes for the composition with anyone except to him.
there were so many questions in his head about your true identity — he knew you weren‘t an adeptus because he would‘ve noticed that. the only clear thing he knew as of now was that he needed to figure out what was going on before he truly lost his mind.

For zhongli working at the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor work is twice as hard after the being the geo archon for centuries and the following reasons are:
he talks about his love a lot and hu tao teases him 24/7 for being a simp for his beloved (is he wrong tho)
his aching hard cock that he gets after fantasizing about his lover in different sexy positions and it makes his walk back home way longer then usual
Zhongli work was hard when he couldn't be with you :((
Tumblr media
just imagine his jealousy when he finds you not waiting him in the kitchen kissing his lips and then having him play with your sexy body but no you weren't there he checked out all of the rooms in your shared house till he slowly opens the door to your shared bedroom the shook on his face after seeing his beloved playing with her self!
"Y/N...." he couldn't even finish his sentence.... "ah~..li please I need you so badly ah~ mm~..." your whimpers just got him hard again and your innocent face and moans his eyes went golden brown glowing in the dark of your room but before he goes and starts breeding his love he went and turned on the lamp so he can see your body better "strip now" "y-yes li.." "and call morax my love...not zhongli this time okay?" You didn't know why he wanted that but you obeyed his orders anyway "so beautiful...now darling suck on my cock and I promise that i will make you feel good afterwards okay" "yes morax~" after taken off his clothes he laid down on your shared bed looking at leaking pussy you were about to put your mouth on his fat leaking cock with precum "wait doll~...sit on my face now the start your work~" again you obeyed his words sitting on his face and sucking onto his pretty fat cock he also started his work by eating you out huffed moans and whimpering coming out of both of the mouths of you two.... despite being angry at the fact his beloved played with herself he still was gentle with her♡♡
Tumblr media
You laid down on your shared bed with your lover with both of you coming off your high with him "I love you darling..." Zhongli said to you as he went on given you kisses all over your face making you giggle "li stop~" he chuckled "so...how did you feel?" "Amazing...*yawn* can we go to bed now..?" "Of course my love" as he said that he started t pull the covers over your cold body "i love you two Li..." you said as you two started to cuddle together ♡♡

Outdated Traditions
Pairings: Zhongli x fem!reader
Summary: The life of a socialite was fun and exciting, but it wasn't the type of lifestyle you would see yourself in as you grew older. You ended up quitting the socialite life and have decided to work as an assistant for the funeral consultant of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. Your wealthy parents end up breaking certain news to you, only to put you in a position that you cannot get out of.
Note: This is the longest fic I have typed out that isn't part of the Isekai'd!Reader series 💀 this story has been on my mind since March 2022, and it has finally been typed out and published! 😭 the amount of all-nighters I have pulled for this fic and the amount of plans I had for this story, in particular, is insane. For those who are new and those who are returning readers, I post on AO3 as well, so if you have an AO3 and see a work similar to this, it's me (Aaliah_exo on AO3). I don't post anywhere else but on Tumblr (Genshinluvr) and on AO3 (Aaliah_exo).
Warnings: Sexual harassment, nonconsensual touching, misogyny, assault, I guess this counts as hurt/comfort, Zhongli is really bad with feelings, jealousy, Childe
Word Count: 18.7k
You’re a socialite from Liyue, and you come from a very well-off family. Your family was the wealthiest family in Liyue but is the second (perhaps third) most affluent family of all Teyvat and the most influential family of all Liyue. As a socialite, your job was to travel from region to region for a business trip—a fashion business trip. You meet up with the most prominent fashion designers and luxury brands across Teyvat, go to fashion shows, do interviews, and go to parties. Lots and lots of parties. It was fun at the beginning of it all, but now, you don’t see yourself being a socialite forever. You ended up quitting your career as a socialite to work for a funeral parlor that is tucked in the corner of Liyue.
You have decided to be an assistant for the consultant of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, Mister Zhongli. Mister Zhongli has oh so graciously offered you to work as his assistant at the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor when you were in need of a new job, so you took up on his offer and passed his interview. The funeral director, Director Hu Tao, was ecstatic to have you working for the parlor as well, and that is how you befriended the director of the funeral parlor. You haven’t been working for Mister Zhongli for a long time; maybe less than a year is an excellent way to put it. However, you are approaching your one-year anniversary of working for Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, and you’re looking forward to spending many more years at the parlor, working as the assistant for Mister Zhongli.
“The flowers I want to be arranged for my daughter’s funeral will be silk flowers, glaze lilies, and Cecilia flowers.” The man says, giving you and your superior a sad smile. You nod your head while jotting down the flowers that the mourning father had listed. “They were her favorite flowers, but she can no longer admire them because she’s gone.” The man’s lips quivered; he quickly cleared his throat and looked away from you and your boss.
You looked up from your notes and at the grieving man in front of you, “Is there anything else we can do for you, Mister Wu?” You asked softly; the man sniffled and shook his head.
“I just want my daughter back; that’s all I want.” Mister Wu whimpers and a stray tear rolls down his cheeks.
You let out an audible gasp at Mister Wu’s response, unsure of how to respond to his comment. You feel your throat tighten, your heart dropping in your chest as you tighten your grip around your notepad and pen. You felt your boss place his hand on your shoulder, gently squeezing your shoulders to reassure you.
“I believe that we can end this for today, Mister Wu. My assistant and I will make sure that the funeral is planned out just the way you wanted it to.” Zhongli says, giving the man a small smile.
Mister Wu sniffles and nods his head before giving the two of you a weak smile before walking towards the entrance of the funeral parlor. Mister Wu grabs onto the door handle of the parlor but is quickly stopped by the director of the funeral parlor.
“I believe this will come in handy in the future, Mister Wu! Sorry for your loss!” Director Hu says, giving the man a bright smile. The man looks down at the slip of paper that Hu Tao has handed to him. His eyes widen slightly before looking up at the young director, both speechless and appalled. Mister Wu makes a face at Hu Tao before walking out of the parlor with the paper crushed in his tight grip.
“Wow, what a downer!” Director Hu says, her face pinching up as she walks back to the counter of the parlor with an exaggerated sigh.
“Director Hu, what did you give him exactly?” You ask nervously.
Hu Tao grins widely and hands the paper over to you. You placed your notepad and pen on the counter before reaching over to grab the paper that Hu Tao held out to you. You and Zhongli looked down at the paper in your hands, only to realize that it wasn’t a flyer but a coupon. A coupon for Wangsheng Funeral Parlor.
“Director Hu! You shouldn’t be handing out coupons to mourning customers like they’re candy!” You scolded the young director.
“I’m just promoting the business, [Y/N]! And you don’t have to call me Director Hu, just call me Hu Tao! After all, we are friends!” Hu Tao says, smiling at you brightly.
“Promoting business to a man who’s mourning over the loss of his daughter….” You trailed off, rubbing your temples with your right hand.
“[Y/N]’s right, Director Hu,” Zhongli speaks up, grabbing your and Hu Tao’s attention.
The tall Liyuen man gives Hu Tao a disapproving look with his arms crossed over his chest. Seeing your boss this way woke something inside of you; you feel your face heat up before looking down at your notepad to distract yourself. For the last couple of months of working at Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, you couldn’t help but notice that your feelings towards the consultant of the funeral parlor were changing into something less professional. As something Director Hu Tao would say, you have a fat crush on the funeral consultant. You internally scoffed to yourself; it was unprofessional and inappropriate to have a crush on someone that hired you to work for them.
“Aw! Come on, old man! I have an inkling feeling that Mister Wu will be using the coupon again in the future!” Director Hu says nonchalantly. You and Zhongli stared at Hu Tao in horror at what she might’ve been implying. “Hey! Funerals are expensive! I believe that a coupon can make the payment less expensive for him if he were to be our customer again in the future! Plus, we do need more customers, so maybe he can give that to a relative of his!” Hu Tao says.
“I don’t know how else to respond.” You let out a defeated sigh.
Zhongli turns to you, “Why don’t you go order some silk flowers, glaze lilies, and Cecilia flowers at the floral shop in Mondstadt and Liyue for the flower arrangements? I have everything else under control.”
You blinked up at your boss, trying to come up with a way to respond to your boss’ sudden comment. “O-Of course, Mister Zhongli! But are you sure there’s nothing else I can help you with aside from placing an order at the floral shops? I can help you out with the other arrangements for the funeral as well if you’d like for me to assist you.” You said.
Zhongli gives you a smile and shakes his head, “As of now, I won’t be needing your assistance. If a problem were to arise, I would inform you of it.” You felt your cheeks grow warm when he smiles at you. You cleared your throat and slowly nodded your head.
“Alright, then I shall place the order immediately! Although depending on the florist, it can take some time to arrange the flowers and have them be delivered to the parlor.” You said, reaching over to grab your notepad and pen, but Zhongli beat you to it. Both your hands meet in the middle while trying to reach for the notepad. You and Zhongli stared at one another for a moment, hands overlapping above the notepad.
“I was reaching for the notepad to give it to you,” Zhongli stated the obvious, clearing his throat.
“And I was reaching to grab it.” You muttered, staring at your boss. You didn’t know how obvious it was, but you knew that your face was red. You slowly looked over at Hu Tao, who was wiggling her eyebrows at you with a cheeky smile on her face. You mentally cursed to yourself for reacting in such a way in front of your boss while internally swearing at Hu Tao for giving you that look because you could feel your face feeling much hotter. You cleared your throat before grabbing your pen and notepad from Zhongli’s hands while giving him an awkward smile.
“I should get going now! I don’t want to arrive too late to the floral shop, or else they’ll close before I even arrive.” You said, gracefully bowing to your boss and the director before walking to the funeral parlor’s door, grabbing the handle, tugging at it, and stepping out of the parlor. You closed the funeral parlor doors, pressed your back against it, and let out a slow exhale while slowly sliding down from it.
“Are you alright, Miss [Y/N]?” You jumped at the voice and turned your head, only to see Ferrylady standing there awkwardly while examining you closely.
“A-Ah, yes! I’m alright, Ferrylady! Today was quite an emotional rollercoaster for me, that’s all!” You said, getting away from the door while fixing your composure.
“Isn’t it emotional for you every day, Miss [Y/N]?” Ferrylady chuckles, causing you to sputter in response.
“Listen, you did not need to call me out like that!” You whined softly; Ferrylady snorts and pats the top of your head fondly.
Ferrylady hums softly while stroking the top of your head, “Well, you do have a soft heart, Miss [Y/N].”
“It’s a curse.” You sighed in defeat. “Anyway, I must be on my way now. I have to order some flowers at the floral shop for Mister Wu’s daughter.” You said, waving Ferrylady goodbye before setting off to the nearest floral shop in Liyue.
When the funeral parlor door closed, Zhongli didn’t take his eyes off the door until he was sure that you had walked away. But seeing that you were still at the entrance, Zhongli assumed that you were talking to someone at the door of the funeral parlor. After a few minutes, he saw you walk away while Ferrylady entered the parlor to start her duties as the undertaker.
“Hm, that was odd,” Zhongli murmurs, looking over at Hu Tao, who immediately straightens up and clears her throat.
“So! Mister Zhongli, what are your thoughts on your cute assistant?” Hu Tao asks, leaning on the counter while giving Zhongli a devious smile.
“[Y/N] is an excellent assistant with a very soft and gentle heart. Each time she talks to the customers, I worry that she will end up crying with the grieving families.” Zhongli replies, and a faint smile appears on his face before chuckling to himself.
Hu Tao’s eyebrows shot to her hairline after hearing Zhongli’s response. Zhongli had such a soft look on his face that it was foreign to Hu Tao. Hu Tao has never seen Zhongli wear such an expression on his face, except only when he talks about fond memories of old friends. Hu Tao mentally cheers to herself; a giddy smile appears on her face. Oh, she cannot wait to tell you this!
“I agree! Although, I was quite surprised to see that you would hire an assistant like her.” Hu Tao says causally, glancing over at the funeral consultant from the corner of her eyes. Zhongli walked over to the stack of papers and began sorting through them. Zhongli hums to himself before looking at Hu Tao, his eyebrows furrowing.
Zhongli placed the paper down and crossed his arms over his chest, “And what do you mean by that, Director Hu? Are you implying that you believe that [Y/N] is incapable of working at the funeral parlor because of her status?” He cocks an eyebrow at the funeral director.
Hu Tao hesitates for a second, her mouth ajar while trying to find an explanation. “Yes and no.” was Hu Tao’s response. Zhongli tilts his head to the side, continuing to look at Hu Tao with an inquisitive look.
“What are you implying then, Miss Hu?” Zhongli sighs, pinching the bridge of his nose. Zhongli does not have time for Hu Tao’s foolishness. He has a funeral to plan and arrange; there’s no time for a casual chat, especially if the topic of the conversation is his assistant.
“I was shocked to see one of the richest and most notable figures of Liyue sending in her job application to be the funeral consultant’s assistant!” Hu Tao says, shrugging her shoulders. “You would think that a socialite from a very well-off family would enjoy a lavish life and career, but only to see her standing at the front of the funeral parlor, hoping to get her application sent in for the job position.” Hu Tao lets out a thoughtful hum while tapping on her cheeks.
“I don’t have time for chit-chats, Director Hu. I have a funeral to plan and put together.” Zhongli states, shaking his head before grabbing the stack of paper and disappearing into his office. Hu Tao lets out a long and dramatic sigh before collapsing in her seat and slumping down in the leather chair. So much for trying to get Zhongli to confess his feelings about you; maybe it’ll work next time. Zhongli just needs a little push.
“What a party pooper! I don’t get what [Y/N] sees in that old man.” Hu Tao mumbles, pouting to herself before getting off the chair to continue her duties as the funeral director. Bother Zhongli until he admits that he has feelings for you too.
You exited the floral shop in Liyue, checking off the list of flowers that Mister Wu wanted to be arranged for his daughter’s funeral. Silk flowers and glaze lilies are hard to organize, especially when the two tend to clash and the size of the flowers is drastically different. Not only that, but glaze lilies are much harder to get because of the legend that is told about the said lily. So, you had to pay a little extra out of your pockets for the flower arrangements to happen and be delivered before the viewing of the body. While you could use Wangsheng Funeral Parlor’s money to pay for the entire thing, you would much rather pay for it yourself than have it put under the funeral parlor’s tabs.
“Miss [Y/N]!” A male runs up to you, stopping in front of where you stood while panting, clearly out of breath and out of shape: Yi, the loyal attendant of your family who has been serving your family for about five years.
“Yes, Yi? What can I do for you?” You ask, staring at the male curiously. He adjusts himself and fixes his glasses on the bridge of his nose.
“Your mother and father request for you to come home immediately,” Yi says.
You blinked at Yi before saying, “Well, I can’t go home now, Yi! I’m still working, and if I were to skip out on my duties as the assistant to the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor’s consultant, I could get into trouble! Or worse, fired!” You crossed your arms in front of you while frowning at your family’s attendant. The man doesn’t reply; all he did was stare at you in shock after hearing your response. Were you really that serious about your job at the funeral parlor? You’re wealthy and a socialite! You didn’t need to worry about money or about a stable career when all of the generational wealth is being passed down to you and only you. So why were you taking this so seriously? Surely, there has to be a good reason as to why you wanted to continue working at the funeral parlor and why you take your job position so seriously.
“Archons, [Y/N]!” Yi stares at you, flabbergasted, “You’re still working for that funeral parlor?! Do you know how much your parents disapprove of you working for a funeral parlor?!” Yi ran his hands through his hair; you could tell that the man was very nervous, and you didn’t really blame him. When you first informed your parents about your new job at the funeral parlor, your mother and father were horrified. Your mother nearly fainted when you said you were giving up the socialite life and wanted a stable career like any working-class people of Teyvat. The cherry on top was when you told them you were applying to be an assistant at a funeral parlor. A funeral parlor!
You let out a long sigh before pinching the bridge of your nose, “Yes, I know they disapprove of me working at the funeral parlor, but I like working at the funeral parlor! Mister Zhongli, Director Hu, and Ferrylady are very nice and welcoming!” You slowly fixed your posture before motioning Yi to follow you. “I need to inform Mister Zhongli about my sudden leave before he gets worried about me possibly not returning to the parlor.” You stated.
Yi follows after you towards Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, shoulders tensed and constantly checking his surroundings. Many people will say that Yi was acting strange and paranoid. Still, it was somewhat of a valid reaction because you come from a very wealthy family, and to see someone of high status approaching the funeral parlor so suddenly can spark up numerous speculations. You grabbed onto the door handle of the parlor and stepped into the building, with Yi following closely behind before sticking by the entrance.
“Mister Zhongli?” You called out, walking around the parlor while looking for the handsome funeral consultant who is also your boss. You hear footsteps approaching where you were and turn your head to see your boss walking into the room where you and Yi are at. Zhongli looks at you curiously before a faint smile appears on his face as he approaches you.
“I see that you’re back from the floral shop,” Zhongli states, stopping in front of you. “Were you able to order the silk flowers, Cecilias, and glaze lilies for Mister Wu’s daughter’s funeral?” He looks at you curiously.
You nod your head happily, “Yes! I was able to place the orders for the flower arrangements for the funeral of Mister Wu’s daughter. Because the Cecilias are from Mondstadt, and the glaze lilies are hard to get, the shipping and delivery fees were a bit expensive.” You said, handing him the receipt.
“Oh? Did you not put it under Wangsheng Funeral Parlor’s tabs.” Zhongli raised an eyebrow at you.
You shook your head, “No, sir, I did not! I actually paid for it myself.” You said.
“Ah! Finally! A worker that doesn’t buy things under Wangsheng Funeral Parlor’s name!” Hu Tao spoke up, popping up from behind the counter with her eyes sparkling. When Hu Tao’s eyes landed on your family’s attendant, her eyes lit up even more. “Oh! A customer?!” She gasps happily before grabbing a coupon and trotting over to the man cheerfully.
You turned to the young funeral director before speaking up, “Ah, Director Hu, he’s actually with me.”
Director Hu Tao pauses in her steps before looking at Yi, then back over at you. Her mouth agape as she pointed at you and Yi, “Are you two in a relationship!?” Hu Tao gasps. Your and Yi’s eyes grew wide at Hu Tao’s question.
“What?! No! He’s my family’s attendant!” You panicked, feeling your face becoming hot. While you were trying to explain to Hu Tao that Yi was your family’s loyal attendant, you completely missed out on Zhongli’s reaction. When Zhongli hear Hu Tao’s question, Zhongli felt his heart plummet into the pit of his stomach. But when you and Yi quickly denied it, Zhongli let out a silent sigh of relief. Even though you didn’t see the look of relief on Zhongli’s face or hear the sigh of relief, Hu Tao saw it all, and it confirmed her suspicion. You exhaled and rubbed your temples before turning back to your boss with an apologetic smile.
“I apologize, Mister Zhongli, but Yi has informed me that my mother and father need me to come home immediately for something that I have not been informed of yet.” You cross your arms over your chest with an apologetic smile.
“Well, since it’s your family that is requesting your presence, I don’t have the power to be holding you back from doing so. It would be inappropriate of me to forbid you from doing so.” Zhongli explains.
“I promise I’ll help you with everything for Mister Wu’s daughter’s funeral arrangements tomorrow, Mister Zhongli.” You said, subconsciously grabbing his hands and lightly squeezing them while giving him a small smile.
Yi and Director Hu’s eyebrows shot to their hairlines at the sight of you grabbing Zhongli’s (your boss) hands and giving them a reassuring squeeze. Zhongli smiles back down at you and squeezes your hand back in response. You reluctantly let go of Zhongli’s hands before turning towards the door of Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. You gestured for Yi to follow you out of the parlor; he nodded his head and walked out of the funeral parlor with you following behind.
After you had closed the door to the funeral parlor, you walked off with Yi walking beside you. Many questions begin to surface in your mind as the two of you walk towards the direction where your house is located. What did they want from you exactly? If they’re going to try to convince you to quit your job at the funeral parlor, then they’re going to be disappointed with the answer in the end.
“Yi.” You spoke up, continuing to face forward as the both of you gradually got closer and closer to where your family’s estate sat.
“Yes, Miss [Y/N]?” Yi looks at you curiously.
“Do you really not know what my parents are calling me in for?” You crossed your arms behind your back while walking up the cobblestone steps up to the entrance of the estate.
“I do, but I believe that it’s best for your parents to tell you instead of me.” Yi simply replies, walking ahead of you now. You gnawed on your bottom lip and stopped in your tracks. This must be really bad then. You took a deep breath before resuming walking behind your family’s most loyal attendant.
The servants at your estate immediately bowed when you approached the doors. They grabbed onto the gold handles of the estate before opening the large door. Red, gold, and whites decorate the interior of the mansion; in the middle of the entryway was a water fountain with a diamond, cor lapis, and noctilucous jade chandelier dangling at the center of the vaulted ceiling. The estate is quite large for a family of three. You looked around the empty house and sighed softly, taking your heels off at the entrance before putting on your house slippers.
You turn to look at Yi, arms over your chest while tapping your pointer finger on your bicep. “Alright, where’s my mother and father? They can’t expect me to come home to have a chat with them before disappearing elsewhere.”
Yi clears his throat, “Your mother and father are waiting for you in the common room.” You nod your head before walking ahead of Yi to search for your parents. The mansion has always been quiet because you were the only child in your family. It’s always lonely with just you and your parents; you hardly see them, and the only people that were to keep you occupied are the servants on the estate who are willing to keep you company. Other than that, you were alone most of the time, or you were at some lessons your parents paid for you to do so you wouldn’t be alone or not have any hobbies. Upon approaching the family room in the estate, you saw your parents conversing with one another. Your mother looked anxious, as per usual, while your father looked calm and rational.
“Mother, father.” You said, approaching the white leather couch where they were sitting. Your mom and dad look up from their conversation to see you still in your work attire. Even though you work at a funeral parlor as an assistant, you still dress like the socialite that you are— well, former socialite, to be exact.
You stopped in front of them, “I was informed by Yi that you two wanted to talk to me about something.” You look over at the attendant before turning over to your parents, “He didn’t tell me what you two wanted to speak to me about, but I’m curious what it’s about.”
“Darling, you’re approaching twenty-five.” Your father states; you cocked an eyebrow at his comment.
“Yes, but that’s a year away from now. I am turning twenty-four this year, actually.” You said slowly before sitting down beside your mother.
“And you don’t have a boyfriend or a child yet.” He mused; you blinked at your father, then glanced over at your mother. You can almost see the anxiousness that was radiating off her as she was fiddling with her hands in her lap. “In the Liyuen culture, it is customary to get married and have children before the age of twenty-five.”
You stroked your chin while mumbling, “Well, that’s news to me….” You didn’t really prioritize marriage and family life as much as your parents.
They got married relatively young and had you at a young age as well, but weren’t in your life as much as you grew up. They were busy with their jobs, or they were traveling to another region in Teyvat for a vacation while you were home alone with the servants. Perhaps the reason why your parents weren’t in your life as much was that they had you at a very young age and didn’t have much time together as a couple, so they took advantage of having many servants and glided off to other regions around Teyvat for a luxurious vacation.
“[Y/N], we expect for you to be married and have children before you turn twenty-five. If you don’t find anyone by the time you’re twenty-four, we will arrange a marriage for you.” Your mother speaks up. You stared at your mother in shock. Arranged marriage?
“An arranged marriage? Please tell me this is a joke of some sort.” You laughed in disbelief, your hands beginning to shake.
Your father scoffs and brushes off your comment, “Oh, arranged marriages are normal in wealthy families!” Your mother nods her head. “Besides, darling, it’s only an option if you’re not able to find anyone yourself before you approach twenty-five.” He adds.
“But I’m still twenty-three! I’m not close to being twenty-five yet! I still have time!” Your nails dig into the palm of your hands, feeling blood rush to your head when you suddenly stand up quickly.
“Now, now, darling, you’re turning twenty-four soon. Time is ticking for us humans, and you need to start having children before you’re unable to after you’re thirty.” Your father says, taking a sip from his teacup. “Besides, we are letting you find someone of your own choice to marry. If you’re unable to find someone yourself, then we’ll find someone for you.” He shrugs his shoulders.
You feel the world around you falling apart as you quickly bowed to your parents before excusing yourself to go to your bedroom. You closed the door quietly and sat on the small cushioned bench at your vanity, feeling your heart racing against your chest. Does that mean you’ll suddenly have to confess to Zhongli about your feelings for him? The real question is, though, would Zhongli, your boss, reciprocate your feelings?
You didn’t get much sleep that night; you lay in your bed, contemplating how you were going to confess your feelings to your boss. Oh, archons, now that you think about it, it was very inappropriate to harbor any kind of feelings towards your superior. Throughout the entire night, all you could do was roll around in your bed; your mind was plagued with so many unanswered questions. Before you knew it, the sun was beginning to rise, and it was time for you to get ready for the day at the funeral parlor.
The servants helped you pick out the clothes you were going to wear for the day while you sat on the cushioned bench of your bedroom. You felt exhausted and nervous; the servants knew that you were out of it today by the dark circles under your eyes. So, one of the head maids of the estate ordered the other maids to get you your coffee before you leave for work.
“Miss [Y/N]?” You looked up to see the head maid of the estate look down at you worriedly. “Are you alright?” You slowly nod your head with a shaky sigh.
“I’m alright, Yue. I have a lot on my mind right now; this thought, in particular, has kept me up all night, and I couldn’t sleep at all.” You said. Yue gives you a sympathetic smile before giving you a reassuring shoulder squeeze.
“Well, whatever this thought is, I’m sure you’ll be fine.” Yue comments, the corner of her eyes crinkling. You give her a weak smile in response and reach up to grab her hand on your shoulders, giving her hand a light squeeze.
“Thank you, Yue.” You whisper, swallowing the forming lump in your throat.
Today is the day when you will be telling Zhongli how you felt about him, and you’re really scared to see what his reaction to you suddenly confessing your feelings to him. You and Zhongli get along quite well, and there was never a dull moment between the two of you. You’re feeling a little bit optimistic about how Zhongli would react to your confession. Mayhaps he will return your feelings as well, and you won’t need to be forced into an arranged marriage!
Today’s the day when you confess your feelings to Zhongli, and you have this tiny spark of hope that everything will be okay. After getting dressed for the day and putting on light makeup, Yue and Fei styled your hair into a high ponytail while Jia handed you your warm cup of coffee. You thanked the three women before heading downstairs to put on your shoes. You grabbed the notepad and pen off the top of the mini table at the front door while slipping your shoes on your feet. You took a deep breath before stepping out of your house.
Each step you take to Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, you feel your heart racing against your chest while the blood is pounding in your ears. It was almost deafening, and you could feel your hands becoming sweaty each time you got closer and closer to the building of your occupation. You grabbed the door handles and pulled the door open before stepping into the parlor. You glanced around the parlor, only to see Director Hu scribbling down something on the paper in front of her. So far, you haven’t seen Zhongli in the funeral parlor at all. Usually, you would hear him muttering to himself as he was filling out paperwork for the parlor, but it was silent.
Hu Tao looked up from her paper; Hu Tao perks up in her seat; her eyes lit up when she saw you, “Oh! [Y/N]! Good to see you today!” Hu Tao chirps as she hops off her seat and approaches you with a little perk in her step. You couldn’t put your finger on it, but you have a hunch that she was excited to tell you something. At least, that is what you’re assuming. Your boss’s boss can be a little bit unpredictable, but she is quite a spunky girl who loves doing her job as the funeral director!
“It’s good to see you too, Director Hu!” You smile at the young girl in front of you. Hu Tao pouts at you, crossing her arms over her chest dramatically before letting out a sassy huff of breath.
“You don’t have to call me Director Hu, [Y/N]! We are friends! Let’s drop the formalities!” Hu Tao whines, stomping her feet on the ground childishly.
You snorted and rolled your eyes, “Alright, Hu Tao.” You said, patting the young girl’s head with a faint smile on your face. “Have you seen Mister Zhongli today, by the way?” You ask, gazing around the funeral parlor to look for the handsome funeral consultant.
“Hmmm, nope! I have not seen him today at all. I believe he will be arriving at the parlor soon!” Hu Tao replies.
“Oh, okay, I was just wondering.” You said, giving her a nervous smile. Hu Tao blinks at you and squints her eyes, looking at you closely. You stared back at Hu Tao; she leaned close to your face while her eyes scanned every part of your face, making you feel self-conscious.
“You look like you haven’t gotten any sleep last night!” Hu Tao backs up before leaning against the counter. “What’s been keeping you up?” She asks, tilting her head to the side while waiting for you to respond.
“I’m confessing my feelings to Zhongli today,” You breathed. Hu Tao looks at you with wide eyes, her jaw-dropping. “What? Should I not do it? I-I know that Zhongli is my boss and all, but I do have feelings for him.” You said, fumbling with the notepad in your hand.
“It’s also scandalous if you ask me! Ay ai ai, [Y/N]! As a high-class member of society, shouldn’t you understand that?” Hu Tao teases you, causing you to become flustered. “But worry not, Miss [Y/N]! I’m sure that the dusty old man likes you back too!” Hu Tao grins, poking you lightly.
Your eyes glimmered with hope, “You really think so?”
Hu Tao smiles widely and nods her head excitedly. “Of course! I’ve seen the way he’s looked at you, and your little interaction is quite flirtatious!” She gives you a cheeky grin.
You looked away from Hu Tao, feeling your face becoming hot each time she teased you about your and Zhongli’s interaction. Does Zhongli look at you a certain way? Surely, Hu Tao’s eyes could’ve been deceiving her, but Hu Tao seems really sure about it too! It looks like you’ll be saved from the arranged marriage after all. The door to the funeral parlor clicks, grabbing your and Hu Tao’s attention. Zhongli steps into the funeral parlor, and his eyes land on both you and Hu Tao, but his eyes remain on you.
“There you are, old man! [Y/N] here was looking for you!” Hu Tao says, pointing to you. You gave Hu Tao a look before looking back at Zhongli, who was now standing before you. You feel your breath getting caught in your throat at how close Zhongli was standing in front of you.
Hu Tao looks at her wrist, pretending to check the time. “Oh! It looks like my service is elsewhere! I’ll leave you two alone!” Hu Tao says, patting your shoulders before running off somewhere in the parlor.
“Is there something you need, [Y/N]?” Zhongli asks, gazing down at you curiously. You feel your face becoming hot the more time goes by. This is it, now is the time for you to confess your feelings to Zhongli. Man, you didn’t expect this day to come by so fast.
“Zhongli, I’ve been working as your assistant for almost a year now, correct?” You said, looking up at the handsome man nervously. Zhongli hums in response, nodding his head at your statement.
“Yes, that is correct,” Zhongli says, gazing down at you curiously. You began to fumble with your notepad and pen anxiously. This was harder than you thought. Even though Hu Tao has told you that Zhongli most definitely feels the same way about you, you couldn’t help but feel uneasy and almost nauseous from the nerves you were feeling.
“Over the courses of working with you as your assistant, I ended up developing feelings for you, Mister Zhongli.” You said slowly, looking away nervously.
Zhongli raised an eyebrow, “You’ve developed feelings for me? Care to clarify what you mean by that, Miss [Y/N]?” He asks, looking at you skeptically. The look on Zhongli’s face did not reassure you at all; it made you even more nervous and more fearful of the worst outcome. Fuck it; you’re just going to come right out and say it! There’s no use in stalling it much longer.
“I like you, Zhongli. I really like you.” You breathed.
Zhongli frowns and looks away from you; his eyebrows narrow while he crosses his arms in front of him. You feel your heart drop at Zhongli’s reaction to your confession. You tighten your grip on the notepad in your hand. The longer Zhongli stays quiet, the more you feel your heart sink into the pit of your stomach.
Zhongli speaks up, “Miss [Y/N], you do realize that I’m your boss, correct?” You felt your throat tighten up, a lump beginning to form in your throat, your eyes becoming misty.
“Ah, yes, I do realize that, Mister Zhongli.” You whisper, your gaze falling to the wooden floor. Tears began to collect in your eyes as realization started to settle in.
“Then you acknowledge that your feelings for me are very inappropriate and unprofessional. I’m sorry, Miss [Y/N], but I do not feel the same way.” Zhongli says. You nod your head, releasing a defeated sigh. It looks like your fate has been sealed; you’ll have to inform your parents about your situation regrettably. “Let’s keep this relationship between us professional.” Zhongli states.
“Yes, Mister Zhongli.” You said softly, bowing to Zhongli before walking to another room in the parlor.
The more you walk, the more you feel your heart break into little pieces. Hu Tao claimed that Zhongli had feelings for you as well; if he did, then why did he reject you in such a way?
The entire day at the funeral parlor, the atmosphere between you and Zhongli was tense and cold. You could barely bring yourself to smile or act as if nothing had happened.
Luckily, there weren’t any new customers, much to Hu Tao’s dismay. You didn’t have to be in Zhongli’s presence the entire day, and you resumed your duties from the previous day for Mister Wu’s late daughter. That aside, Hu Tao noticed that you were much gloomier, and there was a deep frown on your face, whereas Zhongli looked like nothing had happened between the two of you. When Zhongli went on his lunch break to the Liuli Pavilion with Childe, Hu Tao quickly pulled you to the side to question you.
“How did it go between you and Zhongli?” Hu Tao asks; her eyes grew wide at the sight of your trembling lips and tearful gaze. You ducked your head down and let out a few sniffles, tears finally cascading down your flushed cheeks.
“He doesn’t feel the same way as me, Hu Tao.” You croaked.
“What?! He rejected you!?” Hu Tao gasps in disbelief.
You nod your head, “He said that my feelings toward him are very unprofessional and very inappropriate.” You pulled out a handkerchief and began dabbing your tears away, hoping that your makeup wasn’t smeared from the tears.
“But I could’ve sworn that he likes you!” Hu Tao exclaims; she grabs you by the shoulders and gently shakes you. “[Y/N], I swear! Zhongli does have feelings for you! I don’t know what’s going on in that head of his, but he does harbor feelings for you!” Hu Tao panics, pulling you into a tight hug. The hug did nothing but make the floodgates open.
You buried your face into Hu Tao’s shoulders and sobbed. It was official, you have been rejected by the man you’ve fallen for, and now you have nothing left to do but to let fate handle its course. You are getting married off to some stranger you don’t even know, and you can’t do anything else about it. Who knew that outdated traditions like this still existed in high-class families? It seems too cruel to be true. Oh, how you wish you could wake up from this nightmare.
“I’ll get Zhongli to confess the truth, [Y/N]! I promise!” Hu Tao says, you pulled away from the hug and shook your head, wiping your tears away with the gold handkerchief in your shaking hands.
“Don’t force Zhongli to confess the feelings that don’t exist, Hu Tao. My fate has been sealed already.” You said.
Hu Tao looks at you quizzically, “What do you mean by that exactly?” She whispers. You shrugged your shoulders and shook your head. Hu Tao doesn’t know what you’re implying, but she sure hopes that you were exaggerating because you were heartbroken.
“It’s something I can’t tell you right now, Hu Tao.” You murmured sadly, feeling your heart in your chest ache. This is it; this is your fate now, and you can’t do anything else about it. No matter how much you’ve tried to change its course, it’s entirely out of your own control. “When the day comes, I will let you know.” You added; Hu Tao nodded her head reluctantly.
The entire day at the funeral parlor felt so excruciatingly slow. You just wanted the day to end so you could go home and inform your parents— actually, you didn’t want to inform them about it at all. Perhaps you can avoid getting forced into an arranged marriage if you never let them know about Zhongli not returning the same feelings as you. When the end of the day arrived, you clocked out of your job as Zhongli’s assistant and gave both Zhongli and Hu Tao a fake smile.
“I am heading home now, and I will see you two tomorrow morning!” You said, bowing to them before walking towards the entrance of the parlor.
“Bye, [Y/N]! Please get plenty of rest, and we’ll see you tomorrow!” Hu Tao waved you goodbye with a sympathetic smile on her face. After you had left and closed the parlor’s door behind you, Hu Tao turned to Zhongli with her hands on her hips, a deep frown appearing on her face. “Mister Zhongli, we need to talk about what happened between you and [Y/N]!” Zhongli raised an eyebrow at Hu Tao before sighing softly.
“What happened between me and Miss [Y/N] is none of your concern,” Zhongli states firmly; Hu Tao blinked at Zhongli in shock.
Before Hu Tao could open her mouth to interject, Zhongli turned around and walked out of the parlor, not even bidding his boss goodbye. Hu Tao sighs dramatically after the door closes behind him; she collapses in her seat and slumps down in the chair, mentally cursing at Zhongli for being so him. If only Hu Tao could read Zhongli’s mind to know what was going on inside his head right when you were confessing your feelings to him. Who knew that this was going to be the outcome of the whole situation when Hu Tao could clearly see that Zhongli has feelings for you as well! Heck, even Ferrylady can see the almost sexual tension between you and the funeral consultant. Hu Tao couldn’t get the image of your face out of her head; you looked so heartbroken and almost terrified. Hu Tao gnawed on her bottom lip and crossed her legs while trying to put the pieces together, only to come up with nothing. Whatever you’re hiding, Hu Tao really hopes that you’ll let her know about it soon.
You stepped into the estate and took your heels off, sighing in relief when the pain and pressure on your feet stopped once your shoes were off. You slipped on your house slippers and looked around the mansion, hoping your parents weren’t home at all and had completely forgotten about the conversation the day before. Right when you put your right foot on the first step of the stairs, your mother emerges from the top of the stairs, making eye contact with you.
“Ah, there you are! Your father is waiting for you in his office.” She says, leaning against the railing of the staircase, waiting for you to walk up.
You huffed, “How did you know that I was home?” You walk up two flights of stairs, mentally cursing yourself for going home earlier than usual. You weren’t surprised that your mother and father would be waiting for you after having such conversations with you the day prior.
Your mother crosses her arms over her stomach, “The servants had alerted us of your arrival. Besides, your father did instruct them to notify him of your arrival earlier today.” Of course, it was your father all along. Should you be surprised at this point?
You hum to yourself, walking towards the direction of where your father was currently waiting for your presence. Your mother follows after you, keeping a reasonable distance. You can feel the tension beginning to rise as the both of you get closer to your father’s office. You knocked on the wooden door and waited for him to give you the signal to enter. You hear a faint “enter” before grabbing ahold of the doorknob and twisting it before opening the door. You and your mother step into the office, only to see your father getting up from his seat. Your mother closes the door behind the two of you, and you approach the loveseat that sat in the middle of your father’s office.
“I heard that you wanted to see me, father.” You stated, sitting down on the loveseat when your father motioned for you to have a seat while Your mother and father stood in front of you.
“Have you been able to find someone that you wanted to marry? After all, we did allow you to find someone on your own before we’ve decided to choose for you.” He says.
“I did.” You breathed, nodding your head hesitantly.
Your father cocks an eyebrow at your unusual response. “I’m sensing a but after your response.” He trails off.
“But he had rejected me and told me that my feelings toward him were inappropriate and unprofessional.” You said, your shoulders slumping.
“Inappropriate and unprofessional, you say?” Your father mutters, his eyebrows knitted with confusion while stroking his chin. Your mother gasps out loud and looks down at you in horror. Ah, it seems like she has figured out who you had confessed your feelings to. Your father looks over at your mother in confusion as well before she points an accusing finger at you.
“You confessed to your boss!?” She exclaims in horror; your father’s eyes widen before turning to look at you with disbelief.
“The man that you wanted to marry is a lowly funeral consultant with no riches, nor did he come from a wealthy family?!” Your father exclaims. You winced at the volume of his voice, unsure of how to respond to his question. Like, of course, you confessed to your boss. Why did your father make a big deal over Zhongli being a funeral consultant and not coming from a well-off family? Did it really matter to him? He’s not the one that was being forced to be married before they turned twenty-five. It was you that was being forced into marriage, not him.
“Yes, I like my boss, and I confessed to him.” You rolled your eyes. “But you don’t have to worry about me getting married to a ‘lowly funeral consultant’ anymore.” You sighed, letting the fact sink in.
Your father nods his head, “Good because we already picked out the candidates for you to get married to.” You stood up abruptly, looking at them in disbelief.
“You what!?” You exclaimed; your mother placed her hands on your shoulders to calm you down, but you brushed her hands off you. “You already picked someone out for me!?” You ask, staring at your mother and father.
“Yes, and starting tomorrow, you will be going out with each of them to get to know them better. After that, you will choose who you want to get married to. See, you still have options.” Your father says nonchalantly.
You feel your hands tremble with anger, frustration, and disbelief. You let out a scoff before saying, “Unfucking believable.”
“[Y/N]! Watch your language! That’s very unladylike!” Your mother hisses at you while shooting you a death glare while your father shakes his head in displeasure.
You didn’t say another word before turning around and storming out of your father’s office. It was official, you’re being forced into marriage with some men that your parents have “picked out” for you. You slammed your bedroom door shut with your back pressed against the door before you slid down to the ground. Tears build up in your eyes before spilling down your cheeks; you bury your face into your knees while your body shakes with sobs.
The very next day, you got dressed for this little meeting of yours with the first person that your parents have picked out for you to be married to. You wore a red and gold qipao; your hair was pulled up in a neat bun, your lips painted with red lipstick, while you wore light makeup for this said meet-up. You slipped on your diamond-encrusted high heels before stepping out of the estate. But first, before you could go to Third-Round Knockout (the man’s place of choice to meet up), you had to quickly stop by the funeral parlor to request a few days off of work for this meeting of yours. You stepped into the funeral parlor, and the first person you saw was your boss, and there was Hu Tao sitting at the counter, looking bored out of her mind. Her head perked up when she heard the door open, and her eyes widened.
“Wow, [Y/N]! You look hot! What’s the occasion, hot stuff?” Hu Tao teases you; you give her a small smile.
“Good morning to you too, Director Hu.” You bowed gracefully to the funeral director, making her pout at the formalities between you two. “I was actually here to request a few days off work because I do have family matters going on behind the scene.” You said, turning to Zhongli, who had been eyeing you the entire time.
“Family matters, you say?” He asks, gazing down at you curiously.
You nod your head, “It’s a sudden socialite meeting that my parents had set up without my knowledge, and I was hoping if it’s okay with you that I take a few days off for this sudden meeting.” You said, looking away from the funeral consultant.
“I thought you quit the socialite life!” Hu Tao interjects, tilting her head to the side to take a peek at you from behind Zhongli. You sighed in defeat and nodded your head, pinching the bridge of your nose while letting out a slow exhale. Even though you want to speak up about the actual situation, you fear that both Zhongli and Hu Tao, mainly Hu Tao, would try to interfere and cause conflict between your family and the other upper-class families. It wouldn’t hurt to lie a bit; after all, you go out for breakfast and lunch with these mystery men does count as a meeting.
You adjust your qipao and jewelry before responding, “I did quit that life, but my parents decided to bring me back into that occupation without my knowledge, and here I am, requesting a few days off before heading to the said meeting.”
“Since the situation was sudden and planned without your knowledge, then you may have a few days off,” Zhongli says, nodding his head.
“Thank you, Mister Zhongli! Again, I do apologize for the sudden vacation time.” You give Zhongli a weak smile.
Zhongli’s eyes briefly land on your lips before making eye contact with you. He gives you a small smile, “It’s alright, Miss [Y/N]. It was out of your control and sudden. You don’t need to apologize for anything.” You gave Zhongli a strained smile before bowing to him and bidding both him and Hu Tao goodbye. You closed the funeral parlor’s door behind you and took a deep breath before walking towards Third-Round Knockout to meet up with the first man that your parents have chosen for you.
You ignored the looks people were giving you as you walked by them. You didn’t know if they were looking at you because of how extravagant you dressed or if it was because you were part of the higher class. The closer you got to Third-Round Knockout, the more nervous you became. You saw an older gentleman standing in front of the tavern; he was looking around, searching for someone. The two of you made eye contact, and his eyes lit up, and he gestured for you to walk over. You hesitated for a moment before walking in his direction.
The older gentleman bows; you do the same in return. “Good morning, Miss [Y/N]. My name’s Zhang Jun. Your parents talk so much about you!” The man held his hand for you to shake. You smile at the man politely before shaking his hand back.
“It’s nice to meet you, Zhang Jun. Are you dropping your son off for our meeting?” You ask; the older man in front of you chuckles softly while shaking his head.
“Actually, you’re meeting me. I don’t have a son or children at all.” Zhang Jun says; you quickly covered up your surprise by nodding your head politely. “Anyway, care to start our date?” You gave Zhang Jun a fake smile when he called the meeting between the two of you a “date.”
“I believe we should start our meeting, Mister Zhang.” You said, walking towards the first available table at Third-Round Knockout.
Zhang Jun chuckles while walking after you. “Please, [Y/N], just call me Jun. After all, I am your potential husband.” Jun says; you let out a fake laugh before picking a seat that was closest to the stairs, hoping that Jun would sit across from you to keep the distance, but you were wrong. You wanted to sit across from Zhang Jun, but the man decided to sit down beside you instead. You cleared your throat before calling the waiter over to start ordering something to eat. Maybe the food will help distract you from the uncomfortable proximity between you and this older man.
You just want to eat some delicious food, listen to the storyteller, and get this meeting over with. Clearly, Zhang Jun is a bit of a tryhard. Yes, it sounds mean, and you shouldn’t have viewed Zhang Jun that way because you hardly know the man, but the way he tried really hard to impress you was making you bored and unimpressed. Zhang Jun talked about his family’s financial business, and quite frankly, you didn’t listen to a single word he said to you. Your only response to him was a lot of “hm’s,” “oh’s,” and “I see’s.” Does that make you somewhat of a stuck-up snob for acting in such a way? Yes, but did Zhang Jun notice it? He did not realize it at all because he was so caught up with trying to impress you that Zhang Jun didn’t even see that you weren’t interested in anything he was saying. Why did your parents choose Zhang Jun again? He looks like he could be in his late thirties to early forties, way older than you and Zhongli.
While you were occupying yourself with food and Zhang Jun was rambling on, you didn’t realize how much time had passed. You were sitting straight, eating your food elegantly (your parents got you an instructor on dining etiquette), attempting to grasp onto the information Zhang Jun was telling you while also listening to the storyteller. You didn’t realize how comfortable Zhang Jun had gotten with you until you felt him place his right hand on your left thigh, almost causing you to drop your chopsticks and dumplings.
“Mister Zhang! I believe that putting your hands on a woman’s leg is not part of dining etiquette, nor is it appropriate to do it out in public.” You cleared your throat.
“Oh, dear [Y/N], I am your future husband. Is it not normal for a man to be showing his wife affection?” Zhang Jun asks, raising an eyebrow at you. You gave him a fake smile and crossed your legs over the other to stop him from touching you any further, but your attempt was futile. Zhang Jun ends up putting his hand on the upper part of your thigh, close to where your thigh and groin meet.
It was finally lunch break for Zhongli, and Childe had requested for Zhongli to have lunch with him since Childe was also on his lunch break. Zhongli and Childe were walking through Liyue Harbor, having a casual conversation about the Fatui and what Wangsheng Funeral Parlor could do to strengthen their close allyship.
“What place do you have in mind for lunch, Childe?” Zhongli asks, his eyes scanning his surroundings while the ginger-haired male beside him hums thoughtfully while tapping on his chin, deep in his thoughts.
“I was linking Liuli Pavilion, but I’m craving for some delicious cuisines at Third-Round Knockout,” Childe says, shrugging his shoulders.
The closer the two got to Third-Round Knockout, the more the two could smell the freshly cooked cuisines and hear the faint chatter of bystanders. Zhongli suddenly stops in his tracks, making Childe stop in his tracks as well. Childe looks at Zhongli in confusion, only to see that Zhongli is looking at something. Childe slowly turned his head to get a glimpse of what Zhongli was looking at; then, his eyes landed on where you and Zhang Jun were sitting. You looked visibly uncomfortable while trying to eat the food that was placed in front of you. Zhang Jun, on the other hand, looked painfully aroused.
“Oh, is that your cute assistant? Is she on a date?” Childe asks, looking over at Zhongli, who had his eyes zeroed in on Zhang Jun’s hands. The placement was too close for comfort, and it was inching towards a very intimate part of your body.
“Miss [Y/N] has informed me that her parents had set up a sudden meeting for her and other business partners,” Zhongli states, looking at Childe from his peripheral vision. “She is not on a date but a business dinner,” Zhongli added. Childe cocks his eyebrows at Zhongli’s comment before making a face when he sees Zhang Jun squeezing the plush of your thighs. Childe points at Zhang Jun’s hands, turning to look at Zhongli.
“Mister Zhongli, I believe that business partners don’t grope each other like that. Well, especially if one person comes from a very wealthy background while the other is way below that.” Childe states. Childe could see Zhongli clenching his jaws. Childe knew that you’re Zhongli’s assistant and nothing else, but seeing how Zhongli subtly reacts to another man placing his hand on your legs was interesting. While Zhongli vehemently denies that he has feelings for you, his subtle reactions say another thing.
Childe takes a closer look at the man that sat beside you; his eyes widen slightly. “I don’t know if I’m correct, but this man, in particular, looks like he’s one of the Fatui’s higher-ups,” Childe says. Zhongli looks at Childe in shock, then back over at where you and the man sat. “He’s not part of the Harbingers per se, but he looks a little bit familiar.” Childe taps his chin.
“What you’re saying is that [Y/N] is unknowingly having a business meeting with one of the members of the Fatui,” Zhongli states, crossing his arms in front of him.
Childe scoffs, “Business meeting? It’s a marriage setup!” If Zhongli were to be drinking tea at the moment, he would’ve choked at the mention of marriage. “Her family has connections with the Fatui, Mister Zhongli. Though, it seems like [Y/N] is unaware of her family being involved with the Fatui.” Childe strokes his chin while analyzing the man sitting beside you.
“A marriage set up? [Y/N] has informed me that it was a business meeting!” Zhongli mutters, his eyes narrowing, staring holes into the strange man’s head.
“Maybe she didn’t know that it was a marriage set up, or she’s keeping it a secret.” Childe shrugs his shoulders. “As I was saying, both her family and the Fatui are hoping this marriage goes through. After all, her family is well-off, and this man is just as wealthy but not as rich as Pantalone. Pantalone has tried courting Miss [Y/N] in the past, but she turned down his advances.”
Zhongli frowns while letting out a soft exhale, “Why would [Y/N]’s parents try to get their daughter to be involved with the Fatui?”
Childe scrunches his face, “I don’t know; I don’t have enough information about this situation. All I can do is assume that if the marriage is successful, the Fatui will have an easier way of doing things without the Qixing suspecting that it was Fatui business.”
Before Zhongli could open his mouth to retort, both Zhongli and Childe hear you let out a shaky sigh. The two quickly looked over, only to see you stare down at your plate and then look at the man beside you. You cleared your throat to hide your discomfort, “Mister Zhang! I believe that putting your hands on a woman’s leg is not part of dining etiquette, nor is it appropriate to do it out in public.”
“Mister Zhang? Oh! Well, never mind then! He’s not part of the Fatui. He’s just some creep that is desperate for a crumb of pussy.” Childe says, rolling his eyes. Zhongli disregarded Childe’s comment, glaring at the unsuspecting man.
The older man sitting beside you queried, “Oh, dear [Y/N], I am your future husband. Is it not normal for a man to be showing his wife affection?”
The two men watched you cross your leg over the other, hoping that it’ll stop the man from touching you any further, but it was useless. Zhang Jun’s hands ended up placing his hand on your leg again, only much closer to your crotch. Zhongli immediately saw red, and without thinking, Zhongli started marching up to where you and the older man sat, completely forgetting about Childe. While you are his assistant and nothing more, Zhongli does not like how the man was making you uncomfortable. It was clear that you did not like what he was doing, yet the man disregarded your protests and polite rejections.
“Wait, Mister Zhongli!” Childe says, following after the fuming funeral consultant, too was too angry to focus on what he was doing.
“Mister Zhang, please kindly take your hands off of me or else—” You were cut off by the sound of someone clearing their throat.
“Is there a problem here?” A voice interrupts you and Zhang Jun. Your head shot up, and you turned your head, only to see Zhongli and his ginger friend standing behind you two. You felt a wave of relief wash over you before standing up. You stepped away from the table and Zhang Jun before bowing to both Zhongli and the ginger male— whose name you didn’t get.
“Hello, Mister Zhongli and Mister Zhongli’s friend! What a pleasant surprise to see you two here!” You said, giving the two a fake smile.
“My name’s Tartaglia, but you can call me Childe, Miss [Y/N].” The ginger-haired male says, giving you a closed-eye smile.
“It’s nice to finally meet you, Childe! My boss has spoken very highly about you, but he has never mentioned your name to me!” You said, earning a lighthearted chuckle from Childe.
“Oh, Mister Zhongli! You flatter me!” Childe says, lightly patting the funeral consultant on his shoulders. Zhongli kept his eyes on Zhang Jun while not saying a word before looking over at you, who seemed very tense and on edge.
“Miss [Y/N], care to tell me who this man is?” Zhongli asks, refusing to take his amber eyes off of the man that was still sitting at the table.
“Who?” You blurt out, earning a snort from Childe. “Oh! Right.”  You laughed nervously, scratching the back of your neck awkwardly.
Zhang Jun stood up from his seat before standing by your side with his left arm around your waist. It took immense power in you not to cringe away from the man’s grasp. You saw how Zhongli and Childe’s gaze fell onto the placement of Zhang Jun’s hand. You took a deep breath and cleared your throat, gesturing for the older man to introduce himself before brushing his hand off your waist. Zhang Jun cleared his throat before letting his hands fall to his side before he introduced himself to Childe and Zhongli.
“My name’s Zhang Jun, the fifteenth richest man in Liyue and the thirtieth richest man in all of Teyvat,” You made a face at Zhang Jun’s introduction before stepping to the side to leave some space between you and Zhang Jun. He was standing too close for your comfort, and you’re so glad that Zhongli and Childe made a sudden appearance.
“Wow, and the lady standing beside you is the second wealthiest woman in Liyue and the fifth wealthiest woman in all of Teyvat,” Childe commented, the corner of his lips quirking lip in a mocking smirk.
Zhang Jun opens his mouth to interject, but you interrupt him. “I believe that the meeting should conclude here for today. I still have unfinished business at my place of occupation, and I promised my boss that I would be assisting him with matters at the parlor.” You said, looking at Zhang Jun from the corner of your eyes with your arms crossed over your stomach.
“B-But what about the date?!” Zhang Jun exclaims; you let out an irritated sigh, pinching the bridge of your nose. Not only did this man have trouble with keeping his disgusting paws off your legs and waist, but now he wanted to call it a date in front of the man that you have feelings for? How infuriating. You’re going to have a chat with your parents when the day ends because what made them choose this man in particular to be your future husband?
“Our meeting is not a date, Mister Zhang. Nor was it ever a date in the first place.” You stated, shooting a sharp glare in the older man’s direction. “Mister Zhongli, Childe, let’s leave.” You said, turning around without a single glance in their direction before walking down the steps of Third-Round Knockout. Zhongli and Childe traded looks with one another before following after you, leaving Zhang Jun standing there, flabbergasted.
“That was undeniably hot.” Childe breathes, grunting in pain when Zhongli elbows him in the gut. “What? The authority she showed was very sexy! Man, I would love for her to dominate me.” Childe grumbles, glaring over at the dark-haired male.
“Childe.” Zhongli hissed at Childe. Childe pouts dramatically while following you with Zhongli by his side. You stopped in front of the funeral parlor and turned to the two men that had been not-so silently following you.
“I apologize that you two had to see me like that. Mister Zhang lacks manners when it comes to dining etiquette or etiquette in general.” You said, leaning against the red pillar outside of the funeral parlor.
Zhongli wanted to speak up and ask you about the marriage setup, but he hesitated for a moment. Zhongli poked the inside of his cheeks with his tongue and decided not to bring up that topic; he wanted you to tell him about it, not ask you about the strange “businesses” with unknown people who were much older than you. Then again, he is also way older than the man that you were meeting up with at Third-Round Knockout.
“So, a financial businessman, huh,” Childe says, scanning you from head to toe. You hum softly and nod your head at Childe’s comment. Even though it hasn’t been long, you already felt drained from today’s interaction with Zhang Jun. The only thing you can do is pray to Rex Lapis that you’d never run into Zhang Jun again, at least until after you’re married to whoever it’ll be. You could use a nap or two to get your mind off the situation.
“There are a lot more businessmen I have to meet up with this week, and quite frankly, I’m not looking forward to any of it.” You said, reaching up to let your hair fall loose from the tight bun. Your hair falls and cascades down your back; you wince when you feel your scalp throb. “Three more men to deal with for this so-called business meeting my parents set up for me.” You grumbled.
“Is there a way for you to get out of this business?” Zhongli asks; you snorted in response, fixing your hair before putting your hair into a ponytail. There was a way, but it’s entirely out of the option now. You had your chance to get out of the arranged marriage situation, but it had completely backfired and blew up in your face.
“I did have a way out of the business meeting, but the option is all gone. Plus, even if I did have some kind of plan, my parents had already set up these meetings without my knowledge before coming clean to me about it when I got home from work.” You said. You rolled your eyes and leaned your head against the red pillar. “My only choice is to go home and rest up before the next meetings; I know I’m going to need a lot of rest before having to deal with more insufferable men that are twice my age.” You chuckled bitterly before letting out a defeated sigh, your shoulders slacking.
Why must you be dragged into this situation? You’d be happier if you didn’t have riches. All of the mora your family has inherited from generations has brought you nothing but pain and suffering. Even before you had quit the socialite life, a load of mora has got you nothing but pain and discomfort. The friends that you’ve made with your previous career and lifestyle were nothing but toxic and two-faced. You couldn’t trust the people that came into your life, and you didn’t trust the people your parents introduced into your life.  No amount of mora could bring you the happiness that you desired; all of that mora made you suffer. All those years of being a socialite were torturous and exhausting. Throughout those many years of being a socialite, all it consisted of was you trying to convince yourself that you were happy and content.
“Would you like for me to walk you home?” Childe offers, holding his hand out for you to take. You gave Childe a tired smile and shook your head.
“How kind of you to offer to walk me to my home, Childe, but I’ll have to decline. I can sense my parents' rage from miles away, and I don’t want anyone to witness my parents’ ugly side.” You said. “I must go now. I think Zhang Jun had paid my parents a visit to complain to them about how the meeting was cut short.” You roll your eyes before you step away from the red pillar and bow to both Zhongli and Childe before walking away.
Zhongli and Childe watch you walk further and further away from the funeral parlor. The two didn’t say a single word to one another. The tension in the air was almost unbearable. You weren’t happy with your situation, and you wanted to get out of it, but you were stuck. Zhongli and Childe knew that you’re stuck in a situation that you can’t get out of. No matter how hard you try to get out of it, you are trapped.
“And Miss [Y/N] is merely an assistant of yours, Mister Zhongli?” Chide cocks an eyebrow at Zhongli, who does nothing but stare at him blankly.
Zhongli nods his head slowly before answering, “Yes, Miss [Y/N] is merely my assistant at the funeral parlor. Nothing more, nothing less.”
Childe lets out a humorless laugh, shaking his head while muttering something to himself. Childe knew that Zhongli was a stubborn man, but he didn’t realize that Zhongli was that stubborn! It was almost painful for Childe to have to deal with; Childe could see the moment that Zhongli was about to snap. The look of jealousy was evident on the funeral consultant’s face when Zhang Jun was all over you. While Zhongli hasn’t lost his composure, Childe wonders what would be the last straw for the former archon to snap.
Over the next two days, it was nothing but torture for both you and Zhongli. You met up with the other two candidates that your parents have picked out for you to be betrothed to, and surprise, surprise, you did not like them at all. They were nothing but creepy towards you and had made you feel uncomfortable throughout the entire meeting. The second man you met up with was named Xi; he was a polite man, but with each passing moment, he gradually became creepy and was way more touchy than Zhang Jun. You don’t know what is up with your parents and them having the need to set you up with creepy men who are twice your age. Xi almost kissed you without your consent, and what happened after he tried to kiss you? Zhongli stepped in out of nowhere and threatened the man with Director Hu by his side the entire time.
You were pinned against the wall by Xi, his hands gripping both of your wrists together. His face was a couple of inches away from yours; you could feel his hot breath fanning against where your jaws and neck meet while you had your eyes closed, eyebrows narrowed, and head turned to the side. You try to shake him off, but Xi has tightened his grip around your wrists, causing you to let out small pained whimpers.
“Just one kiss to end the date, then I’ll leave you be, Miss [Y/N].” Xi whispers against your jaws. You whimpered and shook your head. Archons! Men like Xi and Zhang Jun make you hate men even more! Especially the ones that are older than you, chosen by your parents, and are intentionally creepy!
“Please, just leave me alone! I don’t kiss after meeting someone for the first time!” You gritted your teeth together. Xi rolled his eyes and released your wrist with one hand before reaching up to grab your face with his free hand, forcing you to look at him, his hand gripping the bottom of your face tightly.
“You will do as I say because I am a man, and you must abide by my demands.” Xi growls. A hand suddenly appears on Xi’s shoulders, gripping his shoulder with a firm grasp before yanking Xi away from you. You pressed yourself against the wall, trembling in fear and shame. As much as you would like to defend yourself, you would get into deep trouble if you, a woman, were to put your hands on a man. No matter how much money you have, and no matter how wealthy your family is, a woman like yourself is still seen as lesser. No matter the status and how much mora you have under your name.
“Old men like you are disgusting.” Hu Tao says, making a face at Xi as she rushes to your side. You sink to the ground and wrap your arms around yourself, still trembling from what had happened. Hu Tao knelt down in front of you and began comforting you, shielding you away from what was about to happen. Zhongli drags Xi off to the side; Zhongli has such a firm grasp around the man’s wrist that Xi fears that his wrist might snap.
“Unhand me, you uncivilized fool! Do you know who I am!?” Xi growls, thrashing around in Zhongli’s grasp, his face turning red with anger.
“You are nothing but a vile monster for forcing a woman to kiss you against her will.” Zhongli glares at the man in front of him before shoving him against the cement walls of the harbor. Xi felt the wind get knocked right out of him, causing him to gasp and double over while trying to catch his breath.
“Oh, I’m a monster for wanting a kiss?!” Xi spats, glaring daggers at the tall man in front of him. Zhongli chuckled and shook his head, grabbing Xi by the collar of his shirt and slamming him against the wall again.
“Yes, and you’re vile for forcing yourself upon a woman who isn’t interested in you!” Zhongli growls, his amber eyes glowing. Xi stares at Zhongli with wide eyes before frantically flailing around in Zhongli’s firm grasp.
“What the fuck are you, you freak!? Unhand me immediately unless you want the Millelith to apprehend you for physically assaulting a high-class citizen of Liyue!” Xi screams. Zhongli rolled his eyes and was about to forcibly shut Xi up if it weren’t for you and Hu Tao, who stopped him from causing any more scene.
“It’s not worth it, Mister Zhongli. I don’t want you to get in trouble because of someone like Xi.” You said, gripping his arms gently. Zhongli sighs in defeat before releasing Xi, causing the man to fall on his butt and scamper off.
“Wow, old man! I’ve never seen you act this way before!” Hu Tao comments, resting both of her hands on her hips with an impressed look on her face. “Quite impressive!” Hu Tao nods her head in approval.
“Come, let’s get you cleaned up at the parlor,” Zhongli says gently, turning towards you and holding his hand out for you to take. You grabbed Zhongli’s hands and let him guide you to Wangsheng Funeral Parlor, with Hu Tao skipping ahead of you and Zhongli while rambling on about getting potential new clients she’ll be seeing soon. You didn’t know what she was implying exactly, but you have a hunch on who these potential clients could be.
When the men that you had met up with for the business meetings (Zhang Jun and Xi) complained to your parents about strange men/a strange man appearing out of nowhere and ruining the session, your parents would always take their side, even if they were in the wrong. You wanted to be upset over the fact that your parents are siding with the men who were nothing but creeps towards you, but you technically weren’t surprised at all. You knew they would side with those men, much to your dismay. The third man didn’t really show up to the supposed business meeting, which made your parents very upset because he made a promise that he didn’t keep.
“A man that cannot commit? How pathetic.” Your mother scoffs.
“I will have a talk with Huang Chen about this. That bastard gave us a date for this meeting and yet cannot follow through with his own plan.” Your father groused, his hands balling up into tight fists.
You shrugged your shoulders and walked back to your bedroom, feeling the urge to just go to sleep. You closed the door behind you and collapsed onto your bed, your eyelids threatening to shut the minute your head touched your pillow. Whoever Huang Chen is, you’re glad that he did not show up at all because it saved you from dealing with more creepy men and Zhongli potentially beating the crap out of those who got close to you or made you feel uncomfortable.
“I got the job done, Mister Zhongli!” Childe says, strutting into the funeral parlor with a smug smile on his face. “I knew that poisoning people was easy, but Huang Chen made it way too easy for me to poison him.” He held up the empty glass vial with a devious smile on his face.
Zhongli nods his head in acknowledgment, “Good.” Zhongli steps out from behind the counter of the parlor and fixes his suit.
“Mister Zhongli! You hired someone to poison someone?” Hu Tao asks, leaning against the door with her arms crossed over her chest.
“Listen, Director Hu; he didn’t hire me! Mister Zhongli asked me to do a small favor for both him and [Y/N], and I delivered.” Childe says, pocketing the glass vial with a smug smirk on his face.
Hu Tao snorted and lightly smacked her head, “Ah! Of course, Mister Zhongli wouldn’t hire someone to poison them! He’s too cheap for that! Silly me.” Hu Tao giggles, ignoring the glare that was shot in her direction from the funeral consultant. “Speaking of [Y/N], the way you’ve been acting when [Y/N] goes on these ‘business dinners’ is very interesting.” Hu Tao says, pushing herself away from the door frame before walking to her seat behind the counter.
“Care to explain what you meant by that?” Zhongli inquires, arching an eyebrow at the young funeral director in front of him.
“Last time I checked, you rejected [Y/N]’s confession and said that her feelings toward you are unprofessional and inappropriate. But you would take every chance you have to interfere with these meetings that [Y/N] is forced to go to.” Hu Tao replies, tapping her chin with her pointer finger. “Tell me, Mister Zhongli, are you sure that you don’t have any feelings for [Y/N]? Because your actions speak louder than your words.” Hu Tao gives Zhongli a knowing smile.
Zhongli rolls his eyes, “Miss Hu, am I not allowed to care about those around me?” Zhongli asks.
“If she’s just your assistant, then why do you care so much about who she goes out on a date with?” Childe asks, giving Zhongli a cheeky smile. “Oh, come on, Mister Zhongli! There’s no use in denying your feelings for Miss [Y/N] anymore.” Childe says, patting the older man on the shoulders.
Zhongli lets out a frustrated sigh while shaking his head. Before Zhongli could say anything, you burst through the funeral parlor, wearing an elegant cheongsam that stops at half of your calves. It was black and gold, your hair curled and pushed back from your face, and you wore black high heels to match your cheongsam. Childe whistles and eyes you from head to toe, licking his lips with a slight smirk on his face.
“You’re looking gorgeous today, Miss [Y/N]. Are you ready for our date?” Childe asks jokingly. Despite Childe saying that as a joke, Zhongli’s head snaps in his direction with a glare. Hu Tao shakes her head and buries her face into her hands, sighing in defeat. It was like Childe was asking to get his ass kicked by Zhongli.
“Date?” Zhongli hissed at Childe under his breath. Childe stifled his laughter behind his fist.
You rolled your eyes and snorted, “He’s just joking, Mister Zhongli.” You reassured the dark-haired man beside Childe. “Today’s the last business meeting I’ll be attending. After that, I will return to work as usual and hope for the best.” You said, adjusting your teardrop cor lapis earrings.
“We haven’t been getting much done around the funeral parlor without you, [Y/N].” Hu Tao says, hopping over the counter before walking over to you. “This parlor is boring and almost as dead as our customers with just me, Ferrylady, and this old man over here.” Hu Tao says, nudging the older man as she walks past him.
“Hu Tao! Don’t speak of the dead like that!” You scolded the young girl before letting your hands fall to your side. “But I do feel the same way; I wanted to come into the parlor every day but had to stop myself because, well, I have these business meetings to go to.” You shrugged your shoulders.
“While you look beautiful as always, you look really drained today,” Childe says, giving you a sympathetic look.
“Oh, good to know that no amount of makeup can cover up how tired I am of this entire situation.” You snorted, shaking your head. “I was getting an earful from my parents last night about a gentleman from the funeral parlor interfering with the business meetings. Of course, I came to that gentleman’s defense, but I still got into trouble regardless.” You chuckled bitterly. You looked over at the clock on the wall before sighing dramatically.
“Is it time for you to go to the business meeting?” Hu Tao asks; you nod your head slowly.
You were tempted to rub your exhausted eyes, but you refrained yourself from doing so, or else it would smudge the makeup. You slowly walked to the funeral parlor’s door, tempted not to leave at all, but your parents would have your head on the silver platter if you were to bail out of this meeting.
For some odd reason, your parents wanted you to go to the Pearl Galley to meet the last man that they had picked out for you. The Pearl Galley, where many scholars and elites would attend. However, you find this ship odd because it wasn’t just a luxurious ship; it’s a brothel, a casino, and a strip club, but on a boat—what a lovely way to meet the final man your parents have chosen.
“I am not looking forward to going to this interesting boat.” You rolled your eyes. “I’ll see you three whenever I’m back.” You said, waving at the three before walking out of the door. You didn’t know why the final meeting had to be at a brothel, casino, and strip club on a boat; you couldn’t have but feel wary. If Xi and Zhang Jun were so creepy and a bit aggressive when it came to you, you did not want to know what this mystery person would be like towards you.
Once you were able to get on board the Pearl Galley, you leaned against the railing of the boat. While people were gambling, mingling, drinking, and being entertained, you stirred the wine in your glass cup. You stared at the crimson liquid before taking a whiff of it, your face pinching up in disgust. The wine smells cheap; if this ship was so luxurious, then why did they provide such inexpensive wines at a place like this?
“Miss [Y/N]! Darling, it’s great to finally meet you!” An older gentleman says, approaching you with a broad smile on his face. You smile at the man politely as he scans you from head to toe before saying, “Your parents talk about you nonstop!” The man says. A lightbulb in your mind goes off when he mentions your parents.
“Are you…” You trailed off.
“My name is Yu Zheng. It’s nice to meet you, [Y/N]. After hearing all of their praises when it came to their smart and beautiful daughter, I just knew that I would want to meet you!” Yu Zheng smiles at you, bowing at you. You gave Yu Zheng a polite smile and bowed at him in return. Yu Zheng was tall and had black hair with a few gray streaks in his hair.
“It’s nice to meet you too, Mister Zheng! Although my parents have not spoken to me about you personally, I bet they have spoken very highly about you as well, sir!” You said, smiling at the man in front of you.
“Shall we walk around the Pearl Galley to be familiar with the scenery?” Yu Zheng asks, holding his arm out for you to take.
You nod your head, “We shall!” You said, linking your arms around his before letting him guide you around the Pearl Galley.
The night started off well; the conversation between you and Yu Zheng was mainly about your parents, childhood, who he is, and what he does for a career. What dawned on you was that Yu Zheng looked a little bit similar to Zhang Jun; only Yu Zheng was rich and had a sharp tongue, whereas Zhang Jun was desperate to impress you. You and Yu Zheng were conversing while walking next to one another, chuckling amongst one another, before you accidentally walked into someone.
“Oh! I’m so sorry….” You trailed off and looked at the person that you had bumped into, only to lock gazes with Zhongli.
“Oh! Mister Zhongli, what a lovely surprise to see you here!” Yu Zheng exclaims, smiling at Zhongli politely.
Zhongli returns the smile and nods his head, “Hello, Yu Zheng. I did not expect to run into you on this ship.” Zhongli says casually.
“If you don’t mind me asking, what are you doing here? Not like I didn’t want to see you or anything; I was just surprised to see you here on the Pearl Galley.” Yu Zheng says, subtly placing his hand on your waist.
“Allow me to interject, but Mister Zhongli is a frequent visitor of the Pearl Galley.” Luo Feng says, appearing beside Zhongli with a smile on his face. You frowned at Luo Feng’s comment after hearing that your boss is a frequent customer and visitor of the Pearl Galley. Does that mean he goes here to gamble or for sexual pleasures? You swallowed the forming lump in your throat as you looked away from the three men, gently swirling the wine in the glass wine up you were held tightly onto.
“A frequent visitor, you say?” You mused, poking the inside of your cheek with your tone.
Luo Feng nods his head happily at your question. You let out a sharp exhale through your nostrils before taking a swig of the wine in your hands. Your face pinches up with disgust from the taste of cheap wine. Zhongli looks at you with amusement when he sees the way you react when you hear that he was a frequent visitor of the Pearl Galley. Were you perhaps jealous? Yu Zheng noticed the way you and Zhongli acted around each other and couldn’t help but feel jealous and possessive of you. After all, you’re going to be his bride by the end of the week, so why is another man ogling his soon-to-be bride? Yu Zheng tightens his grip around your hips, giving Zhongli and Luo Feng a tight smile.
“Yes! He is a frequent visitor! Mister Zhongli dines and enjoys the opera on the Pearl Galley while talking about the history of Liyue and Rex Lapis to other refined gentlemen, such as myself.” Luo Feng added, patting Zhongli’s shoulders.
“How interesting.” You hummed, looking down at the cheap wine in your glass cup. “I didn’t know that my boss likes to spend his free time on a boat that has many interesting activities.” You said, shooting a look at Zhongli from the corner of your eyes.
“Miss [Y/N]—” Zhongli was interrupted by Yu Zheng.
“[Y/N], my beautiful wife, why don’t you grab me another glass cup of wine!” Yu Zheng says, his hands trailing down to your ass and lightly squeezing it. You almost choked on your wine at the sudden groping. Zhongli glares at Yu Zheng’s inappropriate behavior. You swallowed the wine in your mouth before looking at the cup in his hands that was not empty.
“Another glass of wine? I don’t think that you should be having another cup while on a business meeting.” You said. “And I am not your wife, Mister Yu Zheng. I’m merely a business partner, that is all.” You sighed. Luo Feng and Zhongli can see Yu Zheng’s face becoming flustered while he sputters in response.
“Miss [Y/N] is correct. It is not recommended to be drinking heavily while on a business meeting, Mister Yu.” Zhongli says, giving the older man a look of disapproval. “It is distasteful and unprofessional,” Zhongli concludes, crossing his arms over his chest while shaking his head side to side.
“I don’t care. Just get me another drink!” Yu Zheng spats at Zhongli. You, Luo Feng, and Zhongli blinked at the angry man in front of you three.
You nodded your head slowly, “Alright, I will get you your drink.” You said.
Right when you were about to walk off, Yu Zheng grabbed you by your biceps and pulled you back. You looked at Yu Zheng inquisitively before he pointed at his cheek, signaling for you to kiss his cheeks before you left to grab him another cup of wine.
You blinked at Yu Zheng owlishly before slowly leaning in to press a kiss on his cheeks. Even though you didn’t want to do it, you didn’t wish Yu Zheng to cause any further commotion. Before your lips could meet his cheeks, Yu Zheng turns his head all of a sudden, both your lips meeting in the middle. You jumped back and pressed your fingers against your lips, eyes widening in shock and embarrassment.
“That was distasteful, Mister Yu Zheng.” You stated, walking away from Yu Zheng, Zhongli, and Luo Feng. You felt your face heat up with shame and discomfort while walking over to the waiter that was hanging out drinks to patrons. You gave the waiter a fake smile and said a small “thank you” before accepting the glass from the waiter. You were about to turn around to walk back to where Yu Zheng stood, but someone stopped you in your tracks. You turned towards the person, only to see Yelan standing there with a slight smirk on her face.
“[Y/N], you have no idea how happy I am to see you again!” Yelan says as she begins to approach you with her arms over her chest, her bracelet glowing under the moonlight. “Long time no see, sugarplum!” Yelan pinches your cheeks.
“It’s good to see you too, Yelan! It’s been way too long since we’ve seen each other.” You said, giving the woman a small smile.
“How are you doing, sugarplum? I saw how that Fatui diplomat treated you.” Yelan says, placing both of her hands on your shoulders as she shields you away from Yu Zheng, Zhongli, and Luo Feng’s eyes. Your eyes widened at Yelan’s comment; you peeked from her shoulder to find the Fatui diplomat but couldn’t find anyone in particular.
“Who’s a Fatui diplomat?!” You ask frantically; Yelan gives you a sympathetic look before giving both your shoulders a comforting squeeze.
“The man that was groping you in front of Zhongli and Luo Feng, the one that had forcibly kissed you, sugarplum.” Yelan answers. You stared at Yelan, slacked jaw, your hands beginning to shake. Your parents had arranged for you to be married to a Fatui diplomat!?
“Are you sure he’s a Fatui diplomat?! He’s Liyuen like us!” You whispered loudly, hands feeling weak before the glass cup falls and shatters on the ground. “My parents set me up with a Fatui diplomat. This can’t be!” You whispered, heart racing against your chest.
“What’s going on?” Zhongli asks. You were deep in your thought that you didn’t realize that Zhongli had run up to where you and Yelan stood when he heard the sound of glass shattering on the wooden floor of the ship.
“[Y/N] found out that she’s accompanying a Fatui diplomat at the Pearl Galley,” Yelan says, brushing strands of hair away from your face. “She’s not handling the news well at all.” Yelan sighs.
“My parents are forcing me to marry a Fatui diplomat.” You whisper to yourself. You squeezed your eyes shut before releasing a shaky sigh. “I need a moment for myself.” You said, giving Zhongli and Yelan a strained smile before pushing passed the two of them. You ended up at the area of the ship to collect your thoughts. Your heart was still racing against your chest after Yelan had revealed that Yu Zheng was a Fatui diplomat. A shadow casts over you; you looked up, only to see Yu Zheng standing there with his hands tucked in his pockets, visibly pissed that you had disappeared all of a sudden without his drink.
“Why are you here? You were supposed to be accompanying me!” Yu Zheng demanded, glaring down at you.
“I needed some alone time, Yu Zheng. Is that so bad?” You ask softly, swallowing the anxiety that was building up inside of you from the proximity between you two.
“I thought you ran off with that funeral consultant and decided to abandon ship.” Yu Zheng commented, standing much closer to you. You were backed up against the wall, hands trembling against your chest. “I heard that you’re a Fatui diplomat, Yu Zheng. Is that true?” You ask, looking away from the tall man in front of you.
“This isn’t how I wanted you to find out, sweetheart.” Yu Zheng sighs softly, reaching forward to caress your face in his hands. You recoiled away from his touch, looking up at the diplomat timidly. A flash of anger and confusion appeared on his face when you flinched away from his touch. How else were you supposed to react when you find out that the person that your parents had set you up with is part of the Fatui? Your parents practically sold you, their only child and only daughter, to the Fatui. But what was the reason, aside because of an outdated tradition.
“Just answer my question, Yu Zheng.” You whispered.
Yu Zheng sighs in defeat and nods his head, “Yes, it’s true. I am a Fatui diplomat, and your parents know that I’m a Fatui diplomat.” He stated.
“I’m sorry to disappoint you and my parents, but I refuse to marry a Fatui diplomat.” You said, turning your head to the side to avoid eye contact with the man in front of you. Yu Zheng fumes with anger and grabs you by your wrist before tightening his hold. You let out a loud pained yelp, trying to pull your wrist out of his iron grasp, but only for him to tighten his grip around your wrist even more.
“I don’t care what you want, and your parents don’t care about what you want! You will marry me, whether you like it or not!” Yu Zheng spats as he leans his face close to yours, you try to look somewhere else, but he grabs you by the jaws and forces you to look at him. “Do. You. Under. Stand.” Yu Zheng snarls.
“Yes! Yes, I understand!” You sobbed; Yu Zheng’s grasp around your wrist was becoming very painful. “Please, let me go! You’re hurting me!” You hiccuped. Yu Zheng smirks with satisfaction before letting go of your jaws and your wrist. You hugged your wrist close to your chest, rubbing the area with your fingers.
“The wedding will be in two days; you can invite that insufferable funeral consultant and your other friends.” Yu Zheng huffs, walking away from you.
You clutched your injured wrist against your chest, tears cascading down your flushed cheeks. This is it, this is your fate, and you can’t do anything about it. Even if your parents gave you candidates to be your husband, even if you were to choose anyone else, your parents would change that decision for you instead. You ended up not seeing Zhongli or Yelan for the rest of the night; you were forced to stay by Yu Zheng’s side until it was time for you to head home. Yu Zheng decided to escort you to your estate, and your parents were ecstatic when they learned that you had chosen Yu Zheng out of the other candidates they had picked out for you.
“The maids will make the wedding invitation, and you can hand them out to your close friends and coworkers, sweetheart!” Your mother chimes, bringing you into a very tight hug.
You grunted in pain before gently pushing her off you. You gave her a fake smile before walking off to your bedroom. That night, you didn’t bother to change out of your clothes or take your makeup off. You were too numb and tired to do anything. This was it; you’ll be married to some Fatui diplomat all because of your parents, and your friends and coworkers will be witnessing the entire thing. As usual, you didn’t get a wink of sleep at all.
You dressed in your everyday work attire and were about to leave the mansion when the maids stopped you from leaving the estate. You looked at them in confusion before the head maid of the estate hands you the wedding invitation. Your heart drops into the pits of your stomach when you see your name and Yu Zheng’s name on the intricate wedding invitation. You sucked in a breath before walking out of the estate with the wedding invitations in your hands. How are you going to invite your friends and coworkers to your wedding when you didn’t even want to get married yourself?
You stepped into the funeral parlor with the wedding invitations in your hands. You were sure that you got your handprints on it because you were sweating while holding onto the invites. It feels impossible for you to hand out these invitations to your coworkers and friends. The wedding was so sudden, and they knew you didn’t have a significant other, so why were you getting married almost right away? You walked up to Zhongli and Hu Tao with the envelope in your trembling hands.
“Mister Zhongli, Director Hu.” You said. Both Zhongli and Hu Tao turn to you; one is looking at you curiously while the other has an exasperated expression on their face.
“[Y/N]! We’re friends; you don’t have to call me Director Hu!” Hu Tao whines. You gave her a weak smile, only for it to disappear afterward. This was nerve-wracking, and you didn’t like it at all.
“Here are my wedding invitations; I want you two to go to it. It’s tomorrow.” You said, handing Zhongli and Hu Tao the ivory white wedding invitation. Hu Tao looks at you with wide eyes, then down at the envelope in her hands. She tore the envelope open and began scanning her eyes through the piece of paper in her hands.
“You’re getting married!?” Hu Tao screeches, looking over at Zhongli with worry. Zhongli stares at the unopened wedding invitation in his hands, his eyebrows narrowed. Zhongli looks visibly upset, but you don’t know why. Other than the fact that it was with a Fatui diplomat.
“A wedding so soon?” Zhongli mutters, refusing to open the envelope in his hands.
You sighed in defeat and nodded your head. “I didn’t want to get married, but my parents told me it’s traditions and I have no choice. I have to get married before I’m twenty-five and have children.” You said. Zhongli had never felt so powerless before; even after giving up his gnosis, Zhongli didn’t think the day would come. “I did have an option to choose the person I wanted to get married to, but that option shot me down real quick.” You let out a weak laugh, not seeing the look Hu Tao gave Zhongli after elbowing his side.
“But this tradition is outdated!” Hu Tao exclaims, tossing the wedding invitation on the counter before turning to you with her bottom lip quivering.
“It’s very outdated, but in the upper-class families, it’s normal.” You said. “I can’t get out of it, no matter how hard I tried. Yu Zheng threatened me, and the wedding is tomorrow because he wants me to go to Snezhnaya with him immediately after the wedding.” You let out a shaky exhale.
“One cannot force others into a contract they do not want to sign,” Zhongli mutters, gripping the wedding invitation in his fist so that it crumbles under pressure. “A contract, especially a wedding contract, must be a mutual understanding and agreement,” Zhongli says.
“The contract hasn’t been signed yet, but it will be after the wedding.” You said. You rubbed the back of your neck. “Other than that, I hope you two can attend the wedding. You can let Childe tag along as well, and when you do, please give him the invitation.” You hand the extra wedding invitation to Zhongli, who takes the wedding invitation from your hands reluctantly.
The entire day at the funeral was excruciatingly slow, which you were glad that it was because the next day was the wedding that you’re being forced into. While you were out running some errands for the funeral parlor, Zhongli sat at his desk, staring at the wedding invitation in front of him. Zhongli needs to stop the wedding; he has to. There must be a way for you to get out of the marriage with the diplomat.
“So, what’s the plan, old man? Are you finally coming to your senses that you’re in love with [Y/N] this entire time?” Hu Tao asks, leaning against Zhongli’s office door frame. Zhongli doesn’t say a single word, his eyes glued on the invitation in front of him. Zhongli needs to stop the wedding before it's too late.
You opened your eyes and realized that you were in your wedding dress with the veil over your head. You didn’t know why Yu Zheng didn’t want the wedding to be a traditional Liyuen wedding. You’ve always imagined your wedding to be customary, beautiful, and big enough for the people in your life. But this wedding was the complete opposite of what you have in mind, and you’re upset about it. What was the point of forcing you into a marriage, and you end up not getting a say on how the wedding should be?
You just wanted to get it over with and never have to see another wedding dress again. Even though you’ve handed out wedding invitations to your friends and coworkers, you weren’t so sure if they would show up to the wedding after knowing that you were being forced into it. You stood up from your seat and walked over to the wooden doors, and knocked on the door.
Yue peeks her head into the room before asking, “Are you ready?” You bobbed your head in response, too nervous to be able to respond properly. Yue opens the door widely for you before escorting you to the main wedding venue, with the other maids following behind.
You hear music playing behind closed doors; the wedding venue’s entrance was pulled open by the servants. Your eyes widened at the number of people that showed up to the last-minute wedding. You assumed that the majority of the guests were associated with the Fatui and other wealthy people of Liyue. Lady Ningguang wasn’t able to make it, and you were sort of relieved because you didn’t want to see your close friend witnessing your soon-to-be downfall. You began to walk down the aisle with a bouquet of glaze lilies and violetgrass in your hands. Yu Zheng smiles at you at the altar, wearing a black and purple tuxedo, and his hair is slicked back. You slowly came to a stop in the middle of the aisle, staring off into space. The guests began to murmur amongst themselves, wondering why the bride suddenly stopped in the middle of the aisle. Your parents looked both worried and furious when you made eye contact with them.
“I’m….”  You spoke up, swallowing your saliva. “I-I can’t do this, I’m sorry.” You shook your head, letting the bouquet fall to the ground before you ran out of the building. You grabbed the skirt of your wedding gown, hiked it up, and continued to run out of the building. You didn’t even check to see if Zhongli, Hu Tao, and Childe had made it to the wedding. You just wanted to get away from the arranged marriage.
You turned towards the corner of the building, only to crash into someone. You yelped and stumbled back from the force, but the person was quick to catch you before you could land on your ass. You looked up at the person that saved you from falling, only to lock gazes with amber eyes. Zhongli helps you up and steadies you; you grip onto Zhongli’s arms tightly, looking behind you to make sure no one has followed after you.
“Are you okay?” Zhongli asks, caressing your face in his hands while fixing your hair.
“I don’t want to get married to Yu Zheng, Zhongli!” You cried. “Please, please don’t make me go back in there, please.” You pleaded, tears running down your face.
“I’m not going to make you go back there against your will, dearest,” Zhongli says softly, wiping your tears away with his gloved hands. Zhongli wraps his arms around your waist before lifting you up into his arms and briskly walks to the funeral parlor with you in his arms. Upon arriving at the funeral parlor, Zhongli sat you down on the stone bench outside of the parlor. Zhongli wipes your tears away before pressing his lips on your forehead. You continued to cling to him as if he was your lifeline. It physically pains Zhongli to see you cry. Zhongli knelt in front of you, continuing to wipe your tears away before caressing your face in his hands.
“I know that this is a bad time, but I wasn’t truthful to you a few days prior.” Zhongli murmurs; you look at him in confusion, tears gradually coming to a stop. “I have feelings for you too, but I denied it because I believed that I was too old for you.” Zhongli sighs, giving you a sad smile.
“You did?” You squeaked, clearing your throat softly.
Zhongli nods his head, “While I did say that having feelings for me, your boss, is inappropriate and unprofessional, it was hypocritical of me to say that when I feel the same way towards you.” He cups your face with both hands, “I love you so much, but it took me so long to finally come to my senses about it.” Zhongli pressed his forehead against yours.
“I love you too, Zhongli.” You whispered, bottom lips trembling. Zhongli presses his lips against yours, your arms wrapping around his neck while his arms snake around your waist, pressing you up against his chest. Zhongli slowly pulls away from the kiss, his thumb lightly brushing over your bottom lip. Something in the corner of your eyes caught your attention; you slowly pulled away from Zhongli and blinked at the green thing in Zhongli’s hand.
“What’s this?” You ask, pointing at it.
“I was going to get you some flowers, but they’re quite expensive in the market, so this was the last resort,” Zhongli says, his cheeks turning pink.
“Zhongli! You got me a bouquet of broccolis instead of flowers? You’re so cute, Zhongli!” You laughed, covering your mouth with your hand. Your body shakes with laughter; you fall forward into Zhongli’s arms.
Zhongli smiles down at you and brushes his thumb over the apples of your cheeks, “There’s that beautiful smile of yours. It’s been a while since I’ve seen it.” Zhongli says. You stopped laughing before blushing under his gaze after hearing his comment.
“Zhongli, stop! You’re going to make me fall for you even more!” You whined, burying your face into his chest while clutching onto the bouquet of broccolis in your hands.
“Wow, old man! I knew you were cheap, but not that cheap!” Hu Tao says, popping out from the bushes behind you and Zhongli.
“You know, Mister Zhongli. I could pay for those flowers easily, you know? You didn’t have to give her the broccoli bouquet, you know?” Childe says, leaning up against the wall with his arms over his chest with an amused smile on his face.
“Flowers are nice, yes, but I like these broccolis instead. After all, my boyfriend did get them for me.” You said, looking up at Zhongli with a smile on your face. Zhongli smiles down at you before pressing his lips on your forehead.

When the World Was At War We Kept Waltzing
Tumblr media
You are the sole heir to one of the wealthiest families in the country. A charming and mysterious stranger steals your heart. What could go wrong?
Zhongli x Fem Reader
Warnings: Blood, gore, murder/massacre, violence, one curse word, slightly suggestive content, somewhat yandere Zhongli
Word Count: 3139
Tumblr media
A/N: There are several influences that inspired this piece. Music plays a huge part in my writing, so originally I drew inspiration from Lana Del Rey, specifically her Born To Die album, which I love to pieces. Of course, this song title is basically from a Lana Del Rey song (from her Lust for Life album), except for the last word, which I changed to "Waltzing" both for alliteration/phonetics purposes, and because it fits the theme of the fic more. You might recognize influences from Hamilton and Parasite, as I also like these pieces of media. When I first started writing it, I meant to include more angst, but as I formed the story, it morphed into a darker storyline and came to involve some blood and gore. What can I say, I just enjoy writing horror. Additionally, you might notice some repeating motifs throughout the story, specifically involving color. After reading The Great Gatsby, I have been fundamentally changed as a person, and thus why this fic also contains color symbolism and repetition of such themes. Also, although it's a bit vague and I didn't specify the time period in the actual story, I like to imagine that this takes place in the 1920s (just like The Great Gatsby), and there's like the sense of grandeur and riches associated with the time period (until it all goes south with the stock market crash, but let's pretend that didn't exist in this fic).
Enough about the background. I have not gotten Zhongli yet, despite doing 30 rolls and then some, and his banner is still continuing for another week and a half or so, so I'm saving more primogems up to roll more for him. Please come home Zhongli!!!! I'm so desperate you're the one character I would pay money for. Anyways, take this fic as another cry for help from the RNG gods to give me Zhongli.
I hope you enjoy the story, and remember that if you are triggered by violence and graphic imagery, or yandere-type characters, please don't read this fic.

“Would you like to be mine, and I yours?”
That was what he had asked you on this balcony laden with brocade ribbons and your heart bursting with passion.
A breathy “Yes” passed your lips, and then he was on your lips, gripping the bodice with a ferocity bridled. You two had stayed like that under the moonlight, broken up only by the occasional crackle of a firework.
You ran your fingers over the marble balustrade. Memories danced through your mind, earning a small sardonic quirk at the corner of your mouth.
How naïve you were.
That night set in motion a series of elaborate plans, not that you were aware.
Not even a week later, he had asked your father for your hand in marriage. You watched, holding your breath, as he sat across the furnished oak table from your father. As they talked, his hands continued to move as if they were their own entity, gesticulating to convey his intense love for you.
After an hour of discussion, you watched as your father reached across the table to shake hands with your love.
He stood up, moving across the room to where you sat. His amber eyes glowed as he reached out to you, gloved hands an inviting trap. You took his hand, standing up and being pulled into a tight hug. He brushed his lips against your ear. “You’re mine, beloved.”
🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟
After another month of bliss, engaged to the man who had taken your heart in its entirety, painting it red with his raging passion for you and entreating you to his cause, the wedding was announced. And it would be a sight to behold.
The absolutely sheer size and amount of wealth your family possessed signified that this would be a legendary union for ages to come. Invites slipped into envelopes and marked with your family’s seal, a dove holding an olive branch, were sent to hundreds around the country. Day in and day out maids and ladies-in-waiting would pester you about the dress, the flowers, the decorations, the theme, the ring you wished to gift your soon-to-be husband, and a variety of other accessories.
In the few spare moments you were able to catch with your fiancé, you would find yourself within his arms, gripping onto his broad shoulders as he bent down and kissed you. Occasionally you two would get a little too riled up, and had to cut your loving short lest a servant find you. But in those several times you found yourself subject to his more intense states, you were shivering, eager to learn what it was finally like to be loved by such a fierce and powerful man. And as you grabbed onto his long black and caramel locks which trailed behind him whenever he walked, pulling him down into a rough kiss, his hands ghosting your body feverishly, you couldn’t wait to be wed.
And wed you would be. For it was the day of your holy union to the one you loved, and excitement thrummed throughout your body as you were being dressed. The maids were straightening out the final pieces of your outfit. Staring at yourself in the mirror, you could hardly recognize the person staring back at you. The intricate makeup, paired with the dramatic crimson dress that you chose, was certainly a statement. Layers of bright red fabric made a beautiful waterfall all the way from your chest to your ankles. Making the decision to dress so boldly was another way to ensure the strength and legacy of your family among the wealthy. Of course, at the time, you didn’t think much of how he had suggested you wear a certain color.
They placed the scarlet veil over your face, obscuring your vision. It was time.
You walked out of the dressing room, a couple of servants gathering the glorious gradient of a tulle train behind you. The presence of such a color caused pride to swell in your heart, and your back straightened and you felt a bit taller as you slowly stepped, in sangria-colored heels no less, towards your future.
🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟
You had arrived at the venue where the wedding was to be held. Hundreds of people, most whom you knew from previous encounters, milled around the entrance. Your maids guided you towards a side entrance, so that you would be prepared to walk down the aisle once everyone was seated.
After some time waiting, you were informed that everyone had gotten settled, and it was about time for you to walk.
Rising from your seat, you passed another mirror in the room before leaving. Glancing at your reflection, you noted how your appearance seemed to herald…something. You resembled a specter; of what kind though, would remain unseen.
🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟
Regal doors, carved with designs of divine intervention, could barely be seen beyond your veil. There was a hand clenching around your heart. You could feel your pulse speed up. This was it. The beginning of your happy ever after.
Your father stood to your right, looping your arm with his. “Look at my gorgeous pumpkin, already so grown up.” You offered a delicate smile at these words.
A grinding noise sounded as the doors opened. Music began to play as you began the slow trek to the altar. Each step felt like an eternity. There was a noticeable hush as you began to walk.
Your gaze swept over the guests. You could make out some familiar faces. They looked as if they were drenched in a red liquid due to the filtering effects of the veil.
Then you were there. Your father handed you off, and stepped to the side. Looking up, you saw him.
He was dressed handsomely, in a suit matching your dress’s vivid choice of color. The sleeves stopped just above his wrists, allowing you to focus on his hands. Black gloves still covered his hands, barring you from viewing the naked flesh underneath. A little miffed, but undeterred by such an occurrence, your eyes moved up to his face.
He possessed a strong profile. Intense golden eyes, an angled bridge of a nose, lips that were straight-set, yet still so luscious and plump (you knew from kissing them so often), and a jawline to die for.
His eyes trailed over your body, taking in the sight of how beautifully you had dressed up. Just for him.
The music ceased. Only the occasional shuffling noise could be heard from the guests.
“We gather here today to celebrate a most momentous union!” The priest announced with a wide sweep of his arms. Some polite applause ensued, before dying into oblivion again.
The priest continued on with his speech. Some of the words became lost on you. Staring into those glowing amber eyes really did make you lose track of time.
With the exchange of the rings, you gave him a black ring carved from obsidian with ruby and gold veins running through it. In return, he gave you a typical diamond ring, although the jewel was perched atop a red crown. The priest was about to conclude.
“You may kiss the bride,” he declared. Your husband leaned in, grasping your soft hands in his rough leather gloves. He placed one hand behind your back and dipped you, while flipping the veil behind your head in one fluid motion. The crowd gasped in awe at his movement.
You could finally view his handsome face, unhindered by red. He kissed you, those plush lips resting comfortably on yours, just as they did on that nighttime balcony escapade. His eyes flashed a golden brown as he did so, so fast that you missed it. Your eyes fluttered shut, basking in his unwavering attention.
You didn’t feel the veil floating back down to shield your face from the atrocities committed. Almost. The absence of his warm lips and firm grip had you opening your eyes, searching for the touch of your husband.
The world was swathed in red. The guests were asleep, draped over the chairs in awkward and unnatural positions. Your father was slumped in his chair. Standing in the middle of the aisle was your husband. You ran up to him, hiking up your dress to reach his side.
“What happened?” you inquired.
“It had to be done,” he whispered, shoulders stiff as he stared down at the ground, hands entrenched in his pockets.
“Wait, what had to be done? What do you mean by that?” You backed up, heel skidding on the marble surface almost too easily. Tumbling backwards, you landed with only the padding of your dress breaking your fall.
The sudden motion tossed your veil backwards.
It was red. Everything was red. Red. Red. RED.
A scream clawed its way out of your throat. You back-pedaled on the floor, away from the man. No longer was his aura inviting. The love within your heart was obliterated in an instant, crushed by the rising fear that swallowed every warm emotion in its dark terror.
Your hand slipped. Catching yourself on your elbows, you looked to the side. A slick scarlet substance coated your hand. You knew what it was.
Your stomach twisted into a knot at the sight, sending a wave of nausea throughout your body.
The clicking of dress shoes against the floor had you freezing in place, too afraid to do anything else. What could he possibly want? You thought that you had it all, and he had truly loved you.
He knelt down in front of you, cupping your face with a bare hand dyed garnet. You flinched as his soiled skin made contact with you. You didn’t miss the sorrow in those entrancing golden eyes as he witnessed you shy away from him.
“I had to do it, my dear dove.”
“Why? WHY?!” you yelled, slapping away his hand. “My entire family is dead because of you!”
“Now; that’s not entirely true, princess.” He gestured with a grand sweep of his arm to your surroundings. “Give a great round of applause to your regularly-scheduled assassins!!!”
He chuckled at your puzzled expression, slowly morphing to one of wide-eyed horror. Several wedding guests arose from the prone bodies around them, dressed in all black and with Gatling guns slung over their back.
“I don’t understand. What could you possibly gain from murdering my family, much less hundreds of people?” you protested.
“Angel, angel, angel.” He tsked at your confusion.
In one quick smooth motion he had wrapped his hands around your head and placed his forehead against your own. You squirmed in his hold, cringing at the feeling of life, other people’s once thriving life, coating your once perfectly-coiffed hair.
“Oh, is my dear princess a little squeamish?” His voice had deepened, sending tremors throughout your body. You felt his fingers tighten around your locks, tugging on them ever so slightly.
“A small price to pay for the keys to an empire.”
It dawned on you.
“This…this entire time, I trusted you! How dare you scheme to steal my family’s fortune!” You struggled once more, and he released his hold on you, having thoroughly soaked your hair a crimson shade.
He began to pace in front of your weakened form.
“Beloved, you know that I only have the best intentions. Believe me, I really did fall in love with you. At least, that’s all it was at first. Did you know, the idea came to me in a dream, with you by my side? You gave me the idea. You agreed to be rid of the shackles of your family’s status and expectations in order to be by my side. And that’s when I reached for the sun, love.”
You spit at his shoes.
He stopped pacing. Leaning down, hovering over your body, he gripped your chin with a newfound strength, sending jolts of pain throughout your face. “You’re lucky I love my wife so much that I would be willing to overlook a little bit of deviance, when she should be rightfully punished.” As you were forced to look up, the amber eyes you had so loved to stare into for hours on end gleamed with a vicious ambition, thirsty for vengeance and glimmering with scathing deceit.
He released his hold, and continued to pace.
“I thought to myself: why not kill two birds with one stone? Continue my original plan of marrying you, but orchestrate the death of your father to gain access to an entirely new world of wealth.”
“You bastard! I hate you!” You screamed at him, voice growing more hoarse with each passing second.
“Now darling, I don’t think that’s an appropriate way to treat your dear husband,” he mused, shooting you another glance with those damned eyes.
You shut your mouth, the obscenities coming to a halt. Something sinister lurked beneath the surface of those eyes. And if you didn’t stop yelling, you didn’t want to know what he would do.
“Now, as I was saying, once we were legally married, I would be able to get rid of your father without anyone questioning my claim to your family’s assets.”
“Then why did you kill every other person in this room?” you questioned, voice cutting into his reasoning with a bitter hatred.
“Simple. They were collateral.” He shrugged as if this were the most rational approach to take.
“Don’t give me that sanctimonious bullshit,” you spat. “You know perfectly, as do I, that there was no need to shed so much blood over an act that could have been committed in secret.” Your voice cracked as the “secret” spilled over your lips. The gravity of this atrocious event hit you straight in the stomach, twisting your insides until you felt sick.
Sinking to the floor, you began to sob, body trembling against the cold floor. This time you ignored the drying vitality crusting over the white marble, for it could no longer distract you from the terrible truth that had been unveiled. You could not escape the claws of the dead, for they were forever persistent, leaving indelible rust-colored stains that permeated your dress, your skin, and your mind most of all.
He let you cry, until you could mourn no more.
Growing quiet, you whispered one thing through a raspy voice: “Why play your ace now?”
“I couldn’t just sit by and take the coward’s approach out. I had to go all out, my love. Otherwise, I would have no right to call you my wife, and you to call me your husband.”
“And how do you plan to cover this up? This isn’t some stupid business deal you can let fall through when it no longer suits you. These are lives you so carelessly crushed. You toyed with the fate of all these people. And you will pay.” You steeled your gaze at him, glaring with all of your might.
“I won’t let that happen, dove.” In one swift movement, he drew a pistol from his suit.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! As naturally as if he were breathing, he took four shots, clean right through the skulls of each of the assassins.
“There. No witnesses besides us two. I hired the assassins from a local mafia. We can blame the deaths on them and how it was part of a larger scheme to take over your family.”
He blew the smoke off the tip of the barrel before pocketing the pistol carefully.
“I believe it is time for us, lawfully wedded husband and wife, to return to our rightful mansion. I will talk to the authorities and handle the specifics, okay? All you have to do for me is sit pretty and act scared, princess.”
He placed another rough kiss to your head, burying his face in your bloody mussed hair. You didn’t respond. He took your left hand in his and placed a delicate kiss, right below the ring he had so lovingly slid onto your finger, which was now saturated through with the runny insides of others. You didn’t respond. He ran his hands, dipped in the sacrifices of others, down the sides of your dress. You didn’t respond. He sighed.
He slid one of his arms under your bottom, and supported your back with the other. “You know, you’ll have to talk to your dear husband sooner or later, dove. I won’t have any bad behavior from my wife.”
Muttering these final words to your despondent form, your love, the one who had buried his fangs deep into your heart until it dripped red with desire, picked you up in his arms and carried you off, his own bride, back to your home—no, our home—where no one would be there to meet and congratulate you. Where your father would no longer be. And where you would never find happiness again.
🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟🎕⽕⼟
You sighed, running your hands up and down the railing of the balcony. It had been a year since you had first kissed him. A night you will never forget, and always come to regret.
“My darling, my dove, my angel, my princess, the light of my life.” Arms encircled your waist, and he buried his face into your neck. His hands, bared to the chill night air, toyed with your thin coral nightgown.
“What are you thinking about? I hate to see you look so miserable.”
You smiled, despite the pain in your dejected and blackened heart. “Just about the night we first kissed, honey.”
He peppered kisses against your skin. “Ah, yes. That night I wanted to ravage you and steal you for myself. Yet I withheld and waited, remaining patient and anticipating our marriage with open arms. If not for that night, we would never have married and gotten our happy ending. If not for that night, you would have been plucked out of my life forever, like a dying flower. I revitalized you, darling. Look at how you glow in the moonlight. My wife, all for myself.” Chuckling, the timbre of his voice rumbled against your skin.
Placing his right hand around your waist, kneading the soft flesh underneath his fingers, and interlacing the fingers of his left hand with your right, he began to sway with you from side to side. There was no music to guide you two. Yet you still danced, illuminated only by the moon and stars.
And so was your fate. Doomed by the very man you loved. The man who had charmed you and pulled the rug out beneath your feet. The man who had shielded you from the bombs he himself had set, distracting you with promises of loyalty and extravagant gifts. While the rest of the world had raged on, he had blinded you to reality, and now you were his. The man you were to be wed to for all of eternity.
