He’s Been Waiting..

Summary: Liam comes home after a long day to find his high school bestfriend Zayn Malik waiting for him at his house.

Pairing: Liam Payne x Zayn Malik

Warning: 18+ only!!

Liam and Zayn have known each other for as long as they can remember, they grew up in the same town, went to school together but had to part their ways for college. Zayn always knew he liked Liam but he was scared to lose his most precious friend so he never said anything.

Liam, who had a huge crush on Zayn, used to struggle with the fact that what would his family think of him if he told them that he was inclined towards the same gender, he knew his parents would support him no matter what but what if, there's a slightest possibility, that they don't, what if they don't support him and this thought kept Liam silent for ages.

When they were going off for college, Zayn wanted to talk about his feelings with Liam but he couldn't...

Zayn moves towards Liam as he drops his back on the ground, "We'll meet again right?" he says as he puts his hands on Liam's shoulders.

"What are you talking about?" Liam says, as he does his infamous single eyebrow raise.

"Of course we'll meet mate, and I've got your number I'll call you." Liam moves closer to Zayn as he wraps his arms around the Black- haired boy.

What happens with every other pair of high school bestfriends happened with them too. They tried to stay in touch for the first few months, but living in different time zones made things difficult. In the next 5 years, they only talked when they were in the town to enjoy the Christmas Holidays with their families. The Malik's lived right down the street from the Payne's and hence they never missed out on each other whenever they were home.

After finishing college, Zayn, fulfilling his inner desire, opened an art studio in London where he had professionals for various art forms who came from all over the world to display their talent and share their experience with a live audience on Saturdays.

Liam decided to live, as his sister said, the boring life of a banker and moved to New York.

Once the two of them started working, they got their own houses and stopped coming back to their hometown.

Present Day...

It's been 8 years since Liam and Zayn last met but they still think about each other a lot.

It's a Saturday night, Liam is walking to his house after he's had a really rough couple of days at work. As he walks, he comes across a poster on the door of his favourite coffee shop.

"Hey, Linda," Liam waves at the old woman sitting at the counter.

"Same old, Same old?," she asks as she moves her gaze towards Liam who is nodding and deeply immersed in thoughts at the same time.

Liam keeps staring at the poster, that said, "London's famous artist from The Calamity art gallery is coming to New York for his first international graffiti exhibit," as much as Liam's mind was thinking about Zayn after reading the word Graffiti, he was not sure if Zayn's art gallery was called Calamity.

Liam's mum once visited Calamity and told Liam all about it, it was about 2 years ago, Liam almost choked on his tea at the sound of Zayn's name from his mum's mouth. Even though Liam never said it in words, his mum always had a feeling that he, at some point in his life, had fallen for his best mate Zayn but she never said it either.

"You are deep in thoughts about something today. Everything alright kiddo?", Linda says as she handles Liam his usual cup of coffee.

Liam shifts his eyes towards the old lady, "Oh yea", he hestitates, "I was just thinking about a friend, from um... from high school."

Linda grabs a chair and sits beside Liam as he tolls her about his high school crush. Linda was one of those people who will always act like your mother and Liam had known her since the time he first started at NYU.

The two of them talk about how Liam actually felt about Zayn but are interrupted by a call from his little sister who is in NY with her family for the weekend.

Liam dated a few people in the past years but never really found someone he actually connected to, he lives by himself in this huge city and is occasionally visited by his family at festivals and other events, this time, the event being Liam's promotion, which was actually very much more exhausting than he ever dreamt it to be.

"Hey! When are you gonna be home?" comes a voice through the phone which isn't audible because of the screaming of kids in background.

"What? I can't hear you properly!" Liam almost shouts.

His sister called him to let him know that the kids were bored in the house and she's taking them out for a walk, she also told him that she'll grab some supplies on the way back which was a relief to Liam because the he had no energy to go and get groceries right now.

Liam finishes his coffee and waves Linda a goodbye, as he steps out of the shop, the wind brushes his ears, making him want to take a deep breath. He starts walking in the direction of his house, a small apartment in a building just around the corner, the best part about living there was that the space was small so Liam didn't feel half as lonely as he actually was.

He climbs up the stairs and reaches for the keys in his back- pocket, his laptop bag hanging on his shoulder as he notices the shadow of a man who is now standing right behind him. He flinches at the sight because he didn't see anyone coming his way.

"You scared me there for a sec-", the words fade as Liam moves around and sees the one person who he has been thinking about the whole day, hell, his whole life.

"Za-", the words stop in Liam's throat as he moves his eyes and checks out Zayn, which Zayn could clearly notice.

"Hello to you too mate," Zayn says, pulling Liam's chin up, to make the two set of brown eyes meet. Zayn, although not much taller than Liam himself, would do the same thing back in the school when he'd found Liam staring at the ground, something Liam did when he was nervous. After all these years, Liam could still feel the shivers that ran through his spine when his eyes met Zayn's.

"That was a-", "surprise." Zayn cuts Liam off as he puts his hands inside the pockets of the demin wrapped perfectly around his legs.

"Yea, w- why don't y-you come inside," Liam stutters as he opens the door and holds it for Zayn.

"The place is a bit of a mess, Roo is here with kids for the weekend," Liam says, his hands fumbling to fill a glass of water.

"So I heard," Zayn smiles.

There's a silence in the room for the next few moments but the two of them seem to enjoy it as Zayn goes through the stuff kept in Liam's living room and Liam looks at him, walking in his house, something he always wanted to happen.

Zayn moves his gaze towards Liam, who turns back to the kitchen cabinet, the glass in his hands still half empty, as he tries to hide the crimson colour of his cheeks.

"I'll take that from you," Zayn finally speaks, and takes the glass from Liam's hand.

Liam stares at Zayn adorably as the water slides down his throat and Liam can feel it, he can feel sudden twitch of his cock so he turns around and walks to the couch, putting a cushion. covering the area that now looked like a tent.

Zayn, who is completely clueless about why Liam walked off like that places the glass down and walks in the same direction.

The silence hits again and Zayn sits on the couch, his head hitting the back of couch as he slouches in it. Zayn takes a deep breath and smells the fruity vanilla fragrance coming from the other side of the couch.

"I thought I should come and see you while I'm still in the city." Zayn says, as he looks at Liam from the corner of his eyes.

Liam moves one of his hands to Zayn's face, his fingers brushing Zayn's jawline as his thumb traces Zayn's cheekbones.

"Thank you for coming," Liam smiles with his eyes.

Zayn moves in the couch and places his hand on the back of Liam's neck, "How long have I waited to do this," he chuckled.

Liam moved his face towards Zayn, their noses now rubbing each other, lips, centimetres away from having the time of their lives.

"How bad I tried to resist you all those years," Liam whisperes on Zayn's lips and the distance falls apart.

Liam's lips crash onto Zayn's making the two of them lose the awareness of the surroundings.

Liam lets out a moan in Zayn's mouth as Zayn pushes his tounge inside Liam's mouth, asking for dominanace. Liam moves himself onto Zayn as the kiss gets deeper and, his hands move indistinctively in Zayn's hair.

Zayn pulls away and presses kisses all over Liam's neck, then his cheeks and his ears, he finds Liam's sweet spot and starts sucking at it, gently, leaving a dark mark in the area.

"Fuck Zayn,"- Liam moans rather too loud but Zayn doesn't stop. Liam's hands now cupping Zayn's face as Zayn's move all around Liam's body, pulling the tie from his neck, Zayn rips open his shirt and leaves sloppy kisses on Liam's collarbone.

Zayn moves away as he hears a pair of footsteps, probably approaching towards Liam's apartment.

Liam's glittering eyes now staring in Zayn's eyes, "Li-," but Liam cuts Zayn off as he pulls him into another sloppy kiss.

"We are so fucked," Liam chuckles as his thumb glides on Zayn's lips.

"That was even more amazing than I ever imagined it to be," Zayn whispers in Liam's ears.

The two jump at the sound of a knock, knowing exactly who it is. Liam fixes his shirt and Zayn cleans the couch.

Liam opens the door and Roo hushes the kids inside.

"Long time Zayn," she says, raising an eyebrow towards the two of them as a clear smirk appears at the edge of her lips.

"Uncle, Uncle," Kora, Liam's niece pulls his finger, and the eyes of the three adults shift towards the kid as she says, "Why are your lips swollen? Did you hurt yourself?"

Zayn bursts into laughter after hearing the words of the cute little child, "Yea, your uncle is very careless," he says.

"I always knew it, I told you Zayn, he's been waiting all along," Roo punches Liam on the shoulder.

"Wait! What am I missing?" Liam says, confused as his sister and Zayn start laughing again.
