trainee
warnings: violence, yelling, starving, assault, injuries, sexual intercourse
a/n: a lot of this is based on REAL things that happen in the idol industry.
these are some of the idols i based it off of:
momo, 9muses, wendy
summary: A girl, named Jihyun, decided she wanted to be an idol at the age of 13. She was forced to diet and train so hard that she had bruises all over her body. Her company forced her to have sexual relations with the CEO just to get a chance to debut.
this is unfinished bc i got rlly lazy but i can finish it if someone wants me to

PROLOGUE
There I was, on Instagram Live when I had left my group, and the idol industry altogether, getting all sorts of questions on why I had left. Let me tell you my story.
CHAPTER 1: AUDITIONS
My name is Kim Jihyun, when I was 13 I had the dream of being a K-pop idol. I saw that they had online auditions, so I decided I would audition. For my audition, I sang To My Youth, by Bol4. I immediately got a call back saying that I passed the first round. I was so excited for round two.
For round two, we had to make a dance or rap video. I decided to do a dance video since I can’t rap very well. I danced to Run Devil Run, by SNSD. I got in! I packed my bags to go to Seoul, where the company was located. It was a four-hour drive from where I lived. I thought it was worth it though.
Once I got into the company, I immediately started training. Vocal lessons, dance lessons, rap lessons, and they even had makeup lessons. This was probably the toughest experience I ever had in my life. I constantly had to starve myself, practice for over 12 hours, and get bruises all over my body. All of this just to get a chance to debut. I trained for four years. 1,460 days. I finally debuted.
CHAPTER 2: THE DEBUT
I debuted with 6 group members, including me. There was me, Zoa, Chaeyoung, Dasom, Bora, and Jiyoon. We debuted as the group ‘FAERIE’ with the song Asteroid. It was an instant hit. We were crowned Rookie Monsters. We were on the top of every single music chart.
CHAPTER 3: THE SCANDAL
Our music video had hundreds of millions of views. But, what did we have to do to achieve this? Back when I was about 2 years into my trainee career, I had sexual intercourse with the CEO of the company. I was 15. He was in his late 30’s. The dance trainers would also physically and mentally harm me if I didn’t do a certain move right. They would hit me with their clipboards, rulers, or even just their bare hands. They would hit my arms, legs, and sometimes
my back. I am not aware if I was the only one who did these things or got treated like this. I hope I was.
Back to our debut. We got almost 20 wins on music shows, we were winning against all the big names in the industry. But, what comes with popularity is hate. Almost all of us were attacked for our weight.
CHAPTER 4: HATE
All everyone was talking about was our weight. Not our talents, sponsors, or anything. Everyone and their grandpa were focused on our bodies.
“Piggy! ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ,” wrote one user.
“They look like they’re about to burst, ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ,” wrote another user.
Some of the members and I bawled in a room together. But we couldn’t do anything about it. Except me. I was the only one who was willing to call out the body shamers. So, I started a Vlive and talked to fans.
CHAPTER 5: THE VLIVE
When the moment was right, I decided I would address it.
I started to say, “I would like to address the comments that have been made about me and the rest of FAERIE’s weight,” I said.
“We take care of our bodies, we really do. We will try and lose the weight if our company feels it’s necessary. But until then, I really don’t think that strangers on the internet should be talking bad about people's weight online,” I said sternly.
The comments were spamming, the viewers kept going up as I spoke. There were mixed reactions. Some people told me how unprofessional I was, and some people praised me for speaking up on this issue. Once I ended the live, I immediately got a call from my manager.
“Why would you say that on the VLIVE?” asked my manager.
He continued on, “You know that will create a bad image for the group, are you really that stupid?”
The phone call lasted 10 minutes. Half of the time he was just yelling at me.
CHAPTER 6: THE AFTERMATH
I was forced to do another VLIVE to apologize. The apology wasn’t even written by me, I had a script.
