“I’m dead, Jay!” Cole yelled, clenching his fists so tight he would have bled. Would have. “And there’s no way to fix it! I’m not going to magically be cured by some — some miracle!”

Maybe he was taking out his anger on his best friend, but he was too mad to stop. “I’m dead, and Lloyd is with that bastard, and Zane is broken — we’re broken! This entire team! We’re all broken, without Lloyd!”

“And now our chances have decreased again, because I’m useless!”

“You’re not useless, Cole!” Jay yelled right back. “You couldn’t be useless if you tried! We’re going to get through this. You’re going to be okay, and Lloyd’s going to be okay, we’re all going to be okay! Even in the worst of circumstances, we have always managed to pull through. Why should that be any different this time?”

“Because I’m just like them now!”

Jay’s face softened at Cole’s outburst. Cole sunk down, sitting on his bed and covering his face with his hand.

“I just — I’m just like them,” he sobbed, and crying without tears was such an odd sensation that he only cried harder.

Jay sighed, joining him on the bed and giving Cole a moment before he spoke. “Just because you look like them doesn’t mean you’re like them. I mean, Zane had an entire evil army of robots that were literally designed to be like him, and he certainly wasn’t like them.”

“But—“

“No buts, dude. You’re not like them and you never will be. I promise.”

is this project still going?

Unfortunately, we could not collect an adequate art and animation department, so we had to put this project on permanent hiatus. It’s great to have big goals, but realism in the whole idea did slip away from us. Overtime it became very apparent that our goals vs our workforce did not align. And although we did try various approaches, at the end of the day we just didn’t have enough people! 🤷‍♀️

We thank everyone who gave us a chance! The project was fun while it lasted!

how different do you think the show wouldve been if five's age didn't regress when he traveled through time?

oh VERY DIFFERENT for starters no one would believe this old due was Five until Five jumped in front of them and then they’re like “fiVE?”

they’d believe him about the apocalypse more at the very least none of that disbelief about their brother not going to the future?? the tow truck guy probably didn’t die a gruesome horrible death because they know he’s not five at the very least though actually I don’t know how they’d find five in this ‘verse because like,, it’s one thing to notice something out of place like a tattoo on a child it’s another to care about some random tattoo of the random dude you need to serve a coffee to, and it’s not unusual for an adult to order a black coffee or reminisce about coming here as a child, none of it is unusual and so none of it is memorable

i dunno i respect the choice for five to be a child again (ten in the comics, thirteen in the show) because it highlights the paradox - a child too old for their skin, and adult who never quite grew up, someone who is both a child and not a child at the same time) and think it’s very important for his character to be allowed a chance to start over, to grow up again?

if Five didn’t regress,, I don’t think his end game would have him surviving. I mean to a certain extent I don’t think his plan in the show really ended with him surviving either until his conversation with Hazel during the time where he thought he’d stopped the apocalypse briefly and i think an actual adult five would have 0 motivation to keep himself alive past stopping the apocalypse 

because he doesn’t think he has a future - he’s fifty-eight. He doesn’t belong, in the show he yells at the Handler about not belonging anywhere thanks to her. But as a thirteen year old he has something that fifty-eight year old five doesn’t have - he has time. No one expects a 13yr old to get a job and enter society, he has time to recover and figure out his place in the world and grow up. Five years until he’s 18 to figure out his next steps. This Five wouldn’t have the luxury of that time. His plans would be riskier. More violent. Les reliant on his siblings, probably not by conscious choice

(because it’s one thing for them to look at him and see him as their brother at 13, it’s something entirely different to look and see a complete stranger. The fact that Five lived longer without them than with was easier to ignore when the evidence wasn’t staring them right in the face. It wouldn’t be their fault, but they would probably,, not be as accommodating or as patient or as kind because they know 13 year old Five but they don’t know this man)

i’m not sure how it would change events tbh bc it really would be an entirely different show with an older Five hmmm like all of their reactions to him and relationships with him would be twisted idk
