Hey, anyone still hung up on Empires Season 1?

I used to do an empires battlegear series where I mostly drew the crew in armor sets, but for Katherine I made a flower mech because y not? The idea came back to me recently and this is what came out of it.

This is the type of mcyt fanart where it’s so far from canon where I wonder if it even counts as fansrt anymore 💀

Bonus rant about the process:

I'm really bad at timing my work, but I'm guessing this took between 8-10 hrs to complete(half of which were pure pain). I'm equally bad at taking progress pictures but here's the sum-up:

Sketch

Lineart

First go with watercolor

Hate the result

Trying to save with colored pencils, markers and more watercolor

Avoid looking at the piece for days because it looks wrong

Finally discovers the untapped potential of ✨️white ink✨️

Third go at coloring, this time more successfully, with ink, watercolor, some guache, and finally, glitter(doesn’t show up on the picture unfortunatley)

"Good enough"

In the end I'm satisfied with the result, but fuck was it an uphill battle.
