hey so I’m kinda new to all of the killjoy stuff but I’m curious what are the differences between the zones like physically and socially?

So, physically, the further out the more radiation there is. Zones 5 and 6 have more areas of radiation than any other. There's not so much to find in Zones 1 and 6, since 1 is most dangerous when it comes to BLI since it's closer to the City, and 6 has too much radiation.

Socially, the slang kind of differs, and some people have different attitudes. Some words, like Chapter 11 (meaning gay guy), are more used in certain zones - in this case it's Zones 4 and 5.

I'd love people to add to this with headcanons! Personally, I imagine that a lot of the people in the far out Zones are much older, the ones who can't fight so much anymore, leaving more room in the inner Zones for the kids to fight out.

thinking about ghoul and his scar again

what if he was like. stupidly young when it happened. like around sixteen or so. maybe it was his first run on his own, or maybe it was him and kobra, being the youngest, getting to do a run together without requiring somebody with them to make sure they were okay. maybe they finally got that bit of independence and they did everything they were supposed to do they did it all right and still. they ended up getting chased and maybe their bikes get shot or break down and then its just them. maybe the people chasing them, not bl/ind this time, no, zoneborns who are convinced that poison, ghoul and kobra are traitors because theyre from the city. maybe they beat kobra half to death and maybe they give ghoul a smile he can't lose. hhinking

and ofc the line from homesick at spacecamp that's "my smile's an open wound without you"

this is worse if its just like. they both get left in the dirt and kobra calls poison and then all he can do is hold onto his best friend as they both bleed out in the sand waiting for help. they're too young for this
