day 1: introduce yourself! what’s some basic info you’d like to share about yourself? what are you studying?

hey there! i’ve been here for a while, but i’m lama. i am a third culture kid and currently a senior in my last semester of university in washington, dc. i am studying interdiscplinary studies in comm, law, economics, and governemnt, followed by two minors in computer science and information systems and technology. i am also in my uni’s honors program, so i love learning, reading, and doing research. but i also love indie music, sitcoms, and now? baking.

day 2: why did you decide on your major?

i have thought about changing my major several times. but because i am interested in the intersections of policy, law, and technology such as algorthimic bias (ai in policing), data privacy rights, digital advocacy and equality (digital divide), and cybersecurity... i thought it was great to understanding technology through my minors, but also on the policy level through my major. it’s so much work, but i am almost there!

okay, so i didn’t exactly succeed at participating in this challenge, but i knew this month (and the upcoming ones) would be quite hectic... in any case, i wasn’t told this as a piece of advice per se, but i think ‘trust in the process’ is a line everyone should keep in mind, always. it applies to literally anything, from academia to health and other life goals; as long as you consistently put in the work, you’ll arrive at your desired destination :)

Day 26- What has been your best zoomester experience so far?

nothing specific but i love those moments in breakout rooms when everyone is like “i don’t actually know what’s going on” and then we end up talking about memes or politics or something equally as irrelevant

as nerdy as this sounds i really love learning about things from and with people who are even more passionate about them than i am

Reading a  chapter of Harry Potter (in Norwegian) before getting to work! What I especially like about the sunny days that we have right now is that I tend to wake up earlier and easier. It’s so different waking up at 8 with the sun shining through your window vs a grey and foggy start into the day.

Day 3 and 4 of the Zoomester Studyblr Challenge

Day 3: Yes, I have taken part in a few challenges before, but usually couldn’t bring myself to post something consistently. Maybe it will be different this time around!

Day 4: I’m not really doing much research but for my master thesis a friend and I will probably look into something to do with mental health in the workplace. Not sure about the specific topic yet but we want to take this direction :)

day 2- If you’ve chosen a major, why did you decide on it? If you’re in any other grade , what field/major interests you the most?

I really enjoyed all my science classes in high school, especially my bio and chem classes. I decided to major in biology because I want to work with animals/plants in some capacity, and because I really enjoy learning about the living world. It is so interesting to learn all the little mechanisms that make all living beings what they are, and to understand why certain traits would be advantageous over others.

Anyway, tl;dr - I like animals and plants lol
