This is my submission for Zukka Week 2022 day 2: Arranged marriage! I couldnt find much on formal Water Tribe attire so I spent some time researching Inuit clothing and gave Sokka the wedding fit of a lifetime. Hope you like it! (Featuring me refusing to draw shoes on any characters ever)

[There are rules for sleeping with Zuko.

Sokka realizes that fact before he even starts doing it, back in those late days of the war when Zuko catches sight of the fresh bruise blooming over Sokka’s cheek one morning and teases him about getting distracted sparring with Suki, and Sokka doesn’t know how to say that actually, Zuko fell asleep by the fire last night and the reason Zuko woke up there too is because when Sokka tried to shift him to his bedroll, Zuko kicked him in the face in his sleep.] Or, From avoiding bodily injury to getting him to fall asleep in an actual bed, there are rules for sleeping with Zuko. Sokka might just find his way to learning them all.

Kaseh is one of the young boys from the village. While the men were off at war, he spent a lot of his time with Sokka, even more than his own mother. He followed him around an idolized him, he practically became a mini-Sokka. When Sokka left with Katara to help the Avatar he was devastated, but it only furthered the hero worship Kaseh felt towards Sokka. When the war was over and they came back to the Water Tribe, Kaseh was overjoyed, exited to hear about all the adventures Sokka had. He also needed Sokka more than ever since he found out his dad passed in the final weeks of the war. For the next two years, they spend a lot of time together when Sokka wasn’t traveling. Sokka sharing his stories of the world and love of creating with Kaseh. However, Kaseh’s mother suddenly falls ill and Kaseh is soon left an orphan. Sokka already caring deeply for Kaseh takes him under his wing and soon adopts him. During this time of adjustment Sokka stops traveling, instead sending letters to his friends to communicate with them, most of the letters now featuring stories of Kaseh and his fondness for the kid. Most of his friends do end up coming to visit, especially Aang because of Katara, all of them meeting Kaseh. Yet, for the first two years after adopting Kaseh Sokka doesn’t see Zuko, busy trying to obsolete the monarchy. However, his correspondence with Zuko is the richest and most consistent, sending and receiving a letter every week. Sokka and Zuko therefore growing closer and developing feeling they don’t understand even without seeing each other in person. With each letter he receives from Sokka, Zuko’s feelings for the man grows stronger, as well an unexpected fondness for Kaseh, a boy he’s never met. After two year Zuko get’s sent to the Southern Water tribe for work and finally gets to see Sokka again and meet Kaseh. 

This was supposed to be for @zukkaweek​ prompt zukka dads but it’s extremely late. It’s technically only sokka dad, but it’s pre-Zukka dads. There will probably be a part two (hopefully)

Summary:

Zuko has always been his father’s disappointment. Deemed too weak to compete on his own in men’s single figure skating, he’s had to rely on a rotating stream of pairs partners to make it through season after season. But now that Zuko’s eighteen, his father has no lawful reason to keep Zuko around: And so Zuko finds himself both without a coach, and without a partner.

Sokka has always skated with Katara, but that changes when her boyfriend, Aang, comes of age for seniors and Katara decides she’d rather skate with him. At the same time, the International Skating Union announces that same-sex partners are now legal—and Sokka is determined to make a statement with his new choice of partner.

Aka, Zuko and Sokka take the world of figure skating by storm.

A shuddered gasp slipped past his lips, and his neck arched back so intensely that his body moved along with it. “Shit!” he hissed. “Sorry.”

“You’re fine,” Zuko replied softly, yawning. “You’re allowed to tic.”

Sokka paused, biting his lip and looking up at Zuko’s face. His eyes were still closed, the muscles in his face relaxed, a small, content smile at his lips.

“Are you sure?”

Zuko cracked an eye open, and Sokka felt his cheeks heat up when he was caught staring. There was a fond sort of look in Zuko’s eyes—one that reminded Sokka of joy or rays of sunlight. “I’m sure,” he said. “Don’t suppress for this—it’s not worth it.”

Prince Iroh—entrusted by his father, Fire Lord Azulon, with more power and responsibility than ever in the wake of his triumph over Ba Sing Se—decides to try a softer approach.

((If you consider strong-arming a man into marrying his kid off to a (royal, colonizing, ash making, probably murderous, definitely evil) stranger by threatening to melt his whole village a softer approach. And don’t think Sokka missed the threat against his little sister either. He knows it’s still years off, but he’s going to accept his fate, bide his time, wear red silks, play the part of a doting consort... and when opportunity strikes, he’s going to kill the Fire Lord, kill the crown prince, and hey, hopefully he’ll get a chance to kill this future husband of his he hasn’t yet met too.))

Sokka walks until he’s almost sweating, finding himself in a courtyard halfway across the palace. He sits on a patch of grass, a bit damp already from the night’s humidity, and plunges his hands into the earth, ripping up tufts of grass in each grip.

He does this, over and over, tearing handfuls and handfuls of grass and mud, trying not to think too hard about anything in particular, and failing, spectacularly.
