a non comprehensive list of the reasons why tall sokka/short zuko is my favorite pairing:
perfect height for forehead kisses. we have recently been blessed with two pieces of art demonstrating this, found here and here (they make my heart do funny things)
zuko and sokka are very clingy, which means there are great opportunities for this very tall man to be draped over his much shorter boyfriend.... like those pictures of saint bernard’s who think they’re lapdogs
when zuko hugs sokka, he can press his good ear to his chest and hear his heartbeat. when he wakes up from nightmares or is having a bad day dealing with frustrating meetings, he does this and it reminds him that sokka is there and real and safe and loves him. he also derives an immense amount of joy from hearing sokka’s heart rate spike when he says something sappy
sokka likes protecting people and i think that whenever he wraps zuko up in his arms, he feels like he’s doing that. even if nothing is wrong, even if it’s just a welcome home hug, he feels like zuko is safe in his embrace
zuko can use his smaller stature to trip sokka up when they’re sparring and wins... every. single. time. should sokka expect it? yes. is he ever prepared? no.
tall sokka being the little spoon. that’s it.
zuko stealing sokkas hoodies and being swallowed by them. all i’m saying is sweater paws are adorable and sokka would melt when he sees his boyfriend with them (zuko absolutely knows this and continuously uses it to his advantage, because he’s a little shit)
zuko going on his tiptoes to kiss sokka. sokka stooping over to kiss zuko. forehead kisses. all the possible kisses.

how’s about 15 or 84 for the prompts?? whichever gets those creative juices going 👀💖
15. “Please tell me that we’re not stuck out here in your piece of shit car.”
Zuko places a hand on Sokka’s chest to push him away, trying in vain not to giggle when he sees Sokka’s disappointed pout.
“Drive now, kiss later,” Zuko tells him, smiling widely. “You’ve made me watch too many bad horror movies to make me want to kiss you in the middle of some random field.”
At the words “kiss later”, Sokka had scrambled to find his keys, and as he turns them in the ignition now, the smile on his face slowly disappears.
Zuko’s heartbeat quiets down enough for him to realize why: the car is stalling. Sokka turns the key again and again, trying in vain to get it to start, but nothing happens. He lets go of the key to drum his fingers on the steering wheel nervously.
“Please tell me that we’re not stuck out here in your piece of shit car,” Zuko says slowly.
Sokka is quiet for a moment, before he says, “He has a name. Maximus.”
And no, absolutely not, the reminder that Sokka named his car after a cartoon horse does not make Zuko smile from where his face is buried in his hands, no sir. He made the right move hiding Sokka from his line of sight, because as he has learned from experience, it is much easier to stay angry at Sokka while shielding himself from those puppy dog eyes.
At Zuko’s silence, Sokka clears his throat. “We can call your sister?”
“My phone died, remember?” Zuko asks, lifting his head to look at him.
“You don’t have her number memorized?”
“Well if I knew this was going to happen, maybe I would’ve done that! What about your phone? Let’s call Katara.”
“She’s on a date with Aang.”
“Would you rather call your dads?”
“Fair point.” Sokka reaches for his back pocket, then the other one, then his jacket pocket, and his eyes go wide. “Uh, I might’ve dropped it while we were stargazing? Hopefully it’s just on the roof...”
“Oh my god,” Zuko groans, glancing at the darkness outside his window. “I wasn’t actually scared about being stranded out here but now I’m getting creeped out.”
“It’s okay, you stay here, I’ll go look for it,” Sokka says, reaching for the car handle.
“Are you crazy? You can’t go out there alone!” Zuko hisses.
The phone is on top of the car, and although Katara sounds annoyed, she promises to be there in twenty minutes. The call ends and Sokka is drumming his fingers against the steering wheel again.
“I’m sorry,” he says.
Zuko blinks at him. “For what? I mean, your car is a piece of shit, but it’s not like you planned for this to happen.”
Sokka shakes his head. “Still, this was probably your worst first date ever.”
Zuko wants to scoff, but Sokka won’t meet his eyes, so he settles for reaching out to gently lace their fingers together and give Sokka’s hand a squeeze.
“Of course it wasn’t. It couldn’t possibly be, not when I’m here with you.”
Sokka smiles. “Sap.”
Zuko leans closer. “Plus, we still have twenty minutes left of the date. I’m sure we can make sure it ends on a good note.”

jinzula and either 15 or 24 👀??? i couldn’t pick between them so whichever you like!!
ELLEN!! these were both such cute prompts omg it was hard to chooseee
also this took uhh longer than anticipated lol i will blame it on the fact that i had to save my sister after she locked her keys in her car saturday and then i had a wedding to go to on sunday
24. "Your hands are too cold, I'll warm them up."
Winter in Ba Sing Se is cold. There's no getting around it. Jin's lived here her whole life, but that doesn't mean she's good at dealing with the coldest months of the year; when snow flakes are whipped around in the wind and the wind chill dips so low you wonder why anyone is expecting you to leave your home.
(By anyone, Jin means specifically her professors. Are gen ed classes really so important she should have to walk through a near snowstorm for them?)
She heads straight for the Jasmine Dragon after her last class for the day lets out. She'd have to wait a good fifteen minutes for the next bus to take her home anyways, and if she goes to the Jasmine Dragon, she can get some tea to warm her up.
The bell above the door rings as she walks in, and Azula looks up from behind the counter.
(Well okay. Maybe Jin forgives her professors for still holding class today, because she wouldn't have gotten to see Azula if she'd stayed home.)
Azula smiles at her, using the smile Jin knows is reserved for only her closest friends. The smile that's real and took Azula a long time to show without fear of appearing too vulnerable.
“You look cold,” Azula comments as Jin approaches the counter.
Jin nods, still shivering from being outside. “I need something warm. Literally anything. Whatever is fastest and easiest to make.”
Azula laughs. “Tell you what, it’s about time for my break, so let me call Zuko up here, and then I’ll make us both something warm to drink?”
Jin can’t stop the wide smile that makes its way across her face, and there’s a warmth spreading through her chest now just from the fact that Azula wants to spend her break with Jin. "That sounds great!"
It's only a few minutes later when Azula is sitting down in the booth across from Jin, holding a cup and pastry bag in each hand. "Don't tell Song I'm giving her lemon tarts away for free," she says as she sets the food and drinks down on the table.
"I wouldn't dream of it." Jin has worked at the Jasmine Dragon for long enough that she knows how high of a demand there is for Song's lemon tarts, and how those are the one pastry no one is allowed to sneak to their friends for free.
(Which, of course, means they all do it behind Song's back and Iroh pretends not to know.)
Jin takes a long sip of her tea, clutching the cup in her hands, as Azula situates herself. She pulls her apron off and sets it down next to her, then looks over at Jin. "You're still shivering," she notes.
"I am?" Jin hadn't noticed. But now that Azula's point it out...
Azula nods.
Jin shrugs, her hands momentarily leaving the warmth of the cup to break off a bite of the tart and pop it in her mouth.
"And your fingers are practically turning blue!" Azula adds. Before Jin can swallow her food and respond, Azula is reaching across the table and taking Jin's hands in hers. "Did you forget your gloves?"
It takes Jin a second too long to respond, her mind focusing in entirely on the fact that Azula is holding her hands. "I-- um. Yes."
Azula tuts. "Your hands are way too cold. Let me warm them up for you." She tightens her grip slightly, and then her hands are heating up around Jin's - a firebending trick that Jin has seen Zuko use on Sokka more times than she can count.
It's different being on the receiving end rather than simply observing, though. Azula's hands are soft, and they're holding onto Jin firmly enough that she won't try to slip away but gently enough that Jin knows if she really wanted to pull away, Azula would let her.
She doesn't pull away. Even after the shivering has stopped and her hands are warm, even knowing that her cup of tea could have warmed her hands well enough on it's own, Jin lets Azula keep her hands exactly where they are.
(And if Azula has to warm their drinks back up because they spent too long talking with their hands wrapped up in the other's, that is no one's business but theirs.)

For the author asks, r, s, and x?
r. link your favourite fic of all time.
this isn’t a zukka fic but it’s the first one that came to mind: Counterpart by @captn-sara-holmes (hi if you see this lol). i read it back when it was still a wip and i am truly in love with the universe she built and how she characterizes everyone. i go back and reread the series at least once a year.
s. link your favourite author(s).
okay let’s get back on track 😂 there’s so many amazing, talented authors in the zukka fandom and it would be extreme favouritism to say @engagedzukka bc we’re friends outside of the fandom but her writing is just so. so!!!!! so incredible. i have read things, the likes of which you could not imagine. other incredible author mentions include @dickpuncher420, @goldrushzukka, @zukosadragon-ace, and @marriedzukka. however in full disclosure i haven’t been reading a lot of zukka fic recently so i am most likely missing others!!!
x. give a summary of your current project!
i’ve talked about (teased?) my current project(s) already and you can find them here and here! no promises that i will ever finish/post them but i hope i do, so do with that what you will ❤️
send me a letter for fanfic author asks!

Pride Month Multi-fandom Rec list
Happy Pride month yall! As someone who is asexual I know we don’t get a lot of representation in the public media BUT we do sometimes get some really good representation in fan fiction. So, for Pride month I wanted to share some of my favorite fan fics from multiple fandoms that feature some really good representation of multiple different queer identities. As I am ace, there is probably more ace recs than anything else, but I have tried to include some other identities as well. So without further ado, I present to you a multi-fandom rec list that nobody asked for:
The closing walls and the ticking clocks by @i-will-not-be-caged . 5k words (mcu: samstevebucky, ace Sam Wilson)
Ok so Sam Wilson is one of my favorite mcu characters and I am soo happy that he finally got his own show with Bucky but this is a fic from before tfatws featuring an ace Sam Wilson and his two supportive boyfriends: Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes. This fic is beautifully written and I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a fic full of all those ace feels.
Dear Granger, Love Pansy by onlykatelyn. 6k words (hp: Pansimone, wlw)
I don’t tend to read a lot of wlw fics but this one is soo cute and angsty. It features a pining!Pansy who writes a series of heartfelt letters to Hermione and has Drarry and Blaron in the background. Its overall a super enjoyable read and even won a Drarry award in 2018!
when i’m set alight by @killproof. 6k words (atla: Zukka, trans-gay Zuko & bi Sokka)
This a cute little Zukka fic from Sokka’s perspective that basically follows the plot of the the second half of book 3 and shows Sokka falling for Zuko. It’s fluffy and adorable and features a trans Zuko but like it’s done really subtly and really well I think (also Aang and Toph are trans as well I believe).
(hope that i’m able to be) all that you need by @zukosadragon-ace. 10k words (atla: Zukka, ace Zuko & aro Toph)
Ok so I am in love with the idea of Zuko from Avatar the Last Airbender being ace and this is one of my all time favorite ace Zuko fics. It is sooo soft and features an aromatic Toph Beifong and Sokka being the supportive partner that every ace hopes to find, and anyway its heartbreaking and adorable.
Such Things Are Possible by convenientalias. 13k words (Sense8: Rajalagang, Polyamory)
Ok so If you haven’t seen Sense8 stop what your doing right now and go watch it because it is an amazing scifi show with found family and more representation then you could dream of and this fic basically re-tales the last episode from the perspective of one of the characters in a CANON polyamorous relationship.
The Case of the Missing Cockatiel by gryvon. 14k words (Psych: Shassie, bi/pan/omni characters)
So I don’t think either Shawn or Lassiter’s sexualities are explicitly stated in this fic but Shawn is basically a chaotic bi in canon and defiantly not monosexual and Im pretty sure Lassie is bi/pan/omni in this fic as well. Either way its a great case fic featuring our favorite sassy psychic detectives who somehow managed to get real psychic powers this time.
I Want You to Love Me (i want you to leave me) by @miniongrin. 20k works (mcu: Pepperony, ace Tony Stark)
I came across the Asexual Tony Stark tag at some point this year and I got a little obsessed because he is such and interesting character to read as ace. this is probably one of my favorite ace Tony fics featuring Tony trying to figure out and come to terms with his identity and a Avenger field trip to a pride parade. TW: Tony as an ace character participates in sex he’s not totally into because of social expectations and pressures that he feels under.
you belong (to me) by hermionesmydawg . 30k words (mcu: Stucky, gay Buck & bisexual Steve)
So first off this is a NSFW BDSM fic so if that’s not your thing be warned. If you are cool with that though this is one of my favorite Stucky fics featuring a BAMF Natasha Romanov, a supportive Sam Wilson, and as the author puts it an “Aggressively bisexual Steve Rogers.” On top of the BDSM, it is mostly a cute friends-to-lovers fic about Steve, Bucky and their friends trying to live their lives after leaving the Avengers.
Little Compton Street (One Rainy Night in Soho) by @writcraft & @celilasart. 66k words (Harry Potter: Drarry, mlm)
Both Harry and Draco identify as gay in this fic but I love it and wanted to include it in the list because the fic does a fantastic job of exploring queer history in the UK and puts a magic spin on it. It is also just a well written fic featuring loads of other lgbtq+ characters & fluffy romance with a side of smut.

post seven sentences from a WIP and tag seven people!! i was tagged by the fantastic @zukosadragon-ace !!! thank you, love<3
this is an excerpt from my Zukka Frozen au that i can never stop thinking about (yes it is more than seven sentences, sorry hbgjuygnfhtvrt)
“You were bending?” Something akin to fury erupted in Hakoda’s eyes. It dimmed as quickly as it arrived. He ran a hand over his face, inhaling slowly. “I’m sorry, Katara. That was uncalled for. Whether or not you were bending doesn’t matter right now. Kanna, go write to Pakku. I’ll hold him.”
Reluctantly, Kanna handed Sokka’s frozen body off to Hakoda. “Keep him warm.”
As soon as she left, Katara heard her father gasp sharply. It was a sound that would haunt her for all eternity. It was a harrowing sight, Hakoda cradling Sokka, his head tucked in the crook of his son’s neck.
“Dad…” she whispered, desperately wanting to reach out and help him. But her hands were unsteady and despite the ice coating the tips of her fingers, they felt unbearably hot. So she pulled her arms close, placing her hands under her arms.
ahem yes, i love my Frozen au an unhealthy amount uhhhh people to tag...
i’m bad at tagging so i’m just going to tag the first few people who come to mind so feel free to absolutely ignore @flynnpaff @beachytablecloth @captainjafar (elm, i love you you don’t have to do this unless you want to post your musical lyrics or something lol), @boomerangsandadora (once more, y’all can definitely ignore me ahhh)

for the prompts can u do zukka with 72 & 99🥺 congrats on 400!
72. Brushing hair from face
99. Would it help if I stayed?
Sokka woke suddenly in the middle of the night to a sharp pain exploding from his knee and tears streaming down his face. His knee throbbed, pain traveling down his shin and up his thigh in tiny repetitive waves, and he choked on a sob. It had been a long time since he woke up in this much pain- the type of pain that filled his senses and made everything blur around him until it was all he was aware of- and he didn’t quite understand why this was happening to him, because he’d been doing so well.
He’d been feeling so good recently, with barely even a flare up in the past few weeks, and he’d been extra good about taking care of his knee. He’d been doing his exercises- both those recommended by his physical therapist, Yugoda, and by Katara. He’d been good about wearing his brace when he knew he’d be on his feet for long periods of time. He’d been taking the elevator instead of the stairs, despite being terrified of getting stuck in it. He propped it up and applied ice when he got home from school, and heat before he went to bed.
He was doing everything right, so why was this happening to him?
He tried to relax and shift around to relieve some of the pressure on his knee, but when he tried to move his leg there was a stabbing, white hot pain, and before he could stop himself he cried out loudly. He collapsed into his bed tiredly, giving up on getting comfortable, and his eyes slipped shut as he sobbed loudly into the silent darkness of his room.
The tears flowed freely and heavily, combining with the pain to make it so that he wasn’t sure how long he had been there, when there was brightness beyond his eyelids from his light turning on.
He didn’t open his eyes or stop crying, but he did relax slightly, because there was only one person it could be. He felt bad for waking Zuko up with his crying out and sobbing, but at the same time he couldn’t help but be grateful that he wasn’t alone anymore, that his best friend had come to help.
There was the sound of rummaging around in his bathroom for a few seconds, and before he knew it his bed was dipping slightly under Zuko’s weight.
“Hey, Sokka, it’s me,” he murmured softly, his tired, raspy voice more soothing than Sokka could begin to say. “What’re you feeling right now?”
When he spoke, his voice cracked from crying for so long. “It’s really sharp and throbbing. And it’s hot... It hurts, Zuko, really bad.”
“Okay, it’s okay. I’m sorry it’s hurting so badly. But I brought you some stuff to make it feel better... I wasn’t sure if you wanted heat or cold, so I grabbed both, but it sounds like it’s a heat type of night?”
He nodded mutely, and a moment later there was the gentle pressure and steady warmth of his heating pack over his knee. He sighed in relief.
“Is that good?”
“Yeah,” he mumbled, patting around until he found Zuko’s own knee with his hand, and squeezed it in gratitude.
“I brought you some painkillers and water, too. Do you think you can lift your head and take them?”
“Yeah, I can do that.”
He lifted his head a little bit, Zukos hand coming to the back of his head to support him. He then dropped the medicine in his hand, and Sokka brought to his mouth- Zuko following him with a cup with a straw in it. His heart flip flopped at the gesture, unbearably warm; his thoughtfulness was just one of the reasons he’d been pining over Zuko for so long, and it seemed he wasn’t going to make it any easier for him tonight. Not that that was what Sokka was worried about, considering his knee throbbed painfully again.
He hissed, tensing up again as he lowered his head back down, and Zuko sighed. “I’m so sorry, Sokka,” he murmured again, his hand coming up to brush the hair that had fallen in front of his face back. “Is there anything else I can do?”
Sokka shook his head. “I wish there was, but... No. I don’t even know why this is happening to me. I mean, I’ve been so good about everything, doing exactly what I’m supposed to. I do everything right, but I still wake up in the middle of the night in the worst fucking pain, and I can’t even get out of bed to take care of it myself-“
He cut himself off before he could start crying again, bringing the heels of his palms up to dig into his eyes. Still, Zuko didn’t stop brushing back his hair or speak- he just waited for Sokka to continue.
“I’m sorry. I woke you up with my crying and now you’re taking care of me, and all I can do is cry and rant at you.”
“It’s okay, Sokka, I’m happy to do it,” he said, a depth to his words that Sokka couldn’t quite wrap his mind around right now.
“I just wish there was something more I could do,” he confessed instead. “I always feel so... So helpless. Like I should be able to do more to help myself feel better.”
“I understand how that can feel,” he murmured back, just as quietly. “After my scar, I didn’t know how to help myself, but it’s all I wanted to do. It took a long time to welcome other people’s help, even Uncle’s.”
“You make it easy to accept your help,” he said, the words slipping out before he could think about the implication of them. Still, once they were said, he found he couldn’t bring himself to regret them or take them back.
Because it was true- Zuko did make it easy, with his soft smiles and gentle touches, how he always did what he could to help and understood things so easily, how he listened to what Sokka had to say and somehow knew exactly how to make him feel better. It was just one of the things that had led to Sokka falling for his best friend, and falling hard.
Zuko didn’t seem to find it weird though, and just squeezed Sokka’s hand. “Is it beginning to feel a little better?”
He shrugged- it had settled to a dull ache now, but it was still painful and all consuming. “A little. Not a ton, but you’re helping.”
He hummed, brushing his hair back again. “Would it help if I stayed?”
“Yes,” Sokka said immediately- he didn’t need to think to know that having Zuko at his side the rest of the night would help.
“Okay,” he murmured. “I’m just going to turn the light out, but I’ll be right back.”
He nodded, and the bed shifted again as Zuko got up. Just a second later, though, it dipped again, and the warm line of his body was pressed against Sokka’s side. He sighed, the warmth comforting, and he reached out blindly. He didn’t have to search for long, though, before he found Zuko’s hand and laced their fingers together.
“Is this okay?” he asked.
“Yeah,” Zuko responded quietly. “It’s okay.”
There was something more to those few words, Sokka knew, but now wasn’t the time to talk about it. In the morning, he thought as he drifted off with Zuko clutching his hand tightly. In the morning, they’d talk about it.

so what would it take to convince you to share your thoughts on the atla star wars au 👀👀
OMG.... very little is the answer.... i have so many thoughts, so i’m just happy someone wants to read them! anyways, this got really long- like REALLY LONG- so i’m putting it down below the cut. prepare yourself for some nonsensical rambling, far too much thought into lightsaber forms, and a lot of thought about Zuko and the Force 💖
Set post Great Jedi Purge- the Empire has taken over, with Sith Lord Ozai as the Emperor and having orchestrated the entire war as Supreme Chancellor
Azula is Ozai's apprentice; Zuko was supposed to be his apprentice, however he was never as strong or as good at using the Force as Azula was. He’s still powerful, but more in how he uses the Force to help him in a fight and to find things, rather than Azula, who can use Force lightning, excels at mind tricks, etc.
So instead of taking him as his apprentice, Ozai assigns Zuko to the position of Grand Inquisitor and tasks him with leading the Inquisitiorious Program to track down the Jedi that managed to escape the purge.
He uses Jar’Kai, with dual blood red blades…. This ended up becoming the form he used because when he was young, he could never get the hang of fighting with just one lightsaber and always used a reverse grip that left him far too open and vulnerable. Piandao, who was a darksider rather than a full Sith Lord, decided to teach him Jar'Kai to see if it would work better for him, and it did. Anyways, we’re gonna come back to his lightsabers later cause I’m very into them lmao
Aang was the Padawan of Grand Master Gyatso, raised at the Jedi Temple, and uses a Saberstaff with Soresu as his primary form (I think the defensive style and analytical approach to combat translates really well to Aang’s personality and airbending as a whole... also it's Obi-Wan's primary form, and I think they'd be friends)
Anyways, Aang and Master Gyatso were on a mission when Order 66 went out. Gyatso knew Aang was the galaxy’s only chance, always believing him to be the Chosen One who was destined to bring balance to the Force, and so he told him to run. Aang didn’t want to leave him, but Gyatso used the Force to send Aang to their ship and ordered their BD unit, MO-2, to get them out of there
Aang didn’t see Gyatso fall to the troopers, but he felt it in the Force, and swore that he would do what he could to defeat the Empire
He scoured the galaxy for other Jedi and rebels for a long time, trying to hide his identity and the beginnings of the arrow tattoos that marked him as a Jedi Padawan learner all the while he’s running from the Inquisition (I imagine him as a near humanoid species, who have tattoos rather than Padawan braids or silica beads. As they become Padawans, Knights, and Masters, the level of detail on the tattoo is increased)
One day, the Grand Inquisitor catches up to Aang and shoots his ship down over an ice planet in the Outer Rim
Okay now to Sokka and Katara-
Katara and her family has known that she was gifted with the Force since she was a baby making her toys fly throughout their home on Carlac, but being able to use the Force in the Outer Rim is dangerous. They're not often found by the Jedi Order since it’s too far out, but bounty hunters, pirates, and the criminal rings in the Outer Rim have no such limitations, and Jedi are valuable
Following ATLA, someone heard about a Force user on their planet and sent pirates/bounty hunters after her when she was little, and Kya sacrificed herself to save her daughter
Basically, Katara has had to hide her abilities her entire life even though all she wanted to be was a Jedi, and it’s only gotten more dangerous since news of the purge reached them. Sokka and Hakoda would do anything to protect her, but they knew it was only a matter of time before the Inquisition found her, especially since she has very little training in terms of shielding and what not. So, they pack up and leave to join the rebellion, where they hope to find a Jedi who can train her, and end up on Hoth
They quickly settle into the rebellion, with Hakoda becoming one of its leaders and Sokka and Katara two of its best strategists, pilots, and fighters
Sokka also gets Mandalorian armor and a vibroblade because I say so
They’re out on patrol when they see Aang’s ship go down in the tundra, and Katara feels something in the Force. She knows whoever is in that ship can help her become a Jedi, and before Sokka can stop her, she’s already running towards it
Basically they bring Aang back to base and he promises to teach Katara how to use the Force- just one thing, one of his kyber crystals is broken, so he needs to go to Ilum and get a new one. Katara asks to go with him, and he agrees
Back to Zuko- he didn’t trust that shooting Aang down was enough, so he flies down to the surface to catch him, and there’s a fight between the rebels and the forces Zuko brought with him. Aang and Zuko have a Maul/Qui-Gon esque fight, and eventually Aang manages to get away
He, Sokka, and Katara all leave together, and basically they fly across the galaxy in their transport, APPA, and make it to Ilum to get both Aang and Katara kyber crystals
Katara gets a blue crystal, and Aang teaches her Shien as her lightsaber form (it’s quick, fluid, and alternates between defense and all out attacks, just like her waterbending). They spend a lot of time meditating and going through saber forms and lifting stuff around the ship with the Force and generally being a pain in Sokka's ass because when things fall to the ground, they always manage to land on his foot
(Sokka's proud of his sister and thinks it's cool she's got magic powers, but do things always have to land on his foot??? He wasn't even on the same side of the room as them!!!!)
Basically along the way they meet Suki, another rebel who’s deadly with a blaster, and the Kyoshi Warriors. I also think it would be super cool if the Kyoshi Warriors were from Naboo and were the Queen’s Handmaidens- they look harmless, but these girls are warriors and can FIGHT
Zuko’s chasing them the entire time too
They find Toph along the way too, a super powerful Force user who uses it to “see” and is also a very talented psychometric. I think she’d use Ataru as her lightsaber form since it uses the Force to enhance movements (also the psychometry is for no specific reason other than I think it would be neat and also she and Vos have similar personalities lmao)
Anyways the plot of the show continues until at some point, Azula is sent after Zuko since he’s taking too long to capture the Gaang, and they team up to stop them. Azula uses Force lightning on Aang, but Katara manages to get them out of there before the siblings can capture them. She’s a very powerful Force healer, so she manages to save Aang
Okay this is the part that I think about nonstop, which is that Zuko goes back to the Empire after that fight, but he just feels wrong. The Force doesn’t feel the same anymore, he's cold all the time, his crystals scream at him and burn his hands when he tries to use them, his eyes are aching, everything his father says makes his head pound and the Force curl around him unpleasantly, and he has no clue why (he does, he's just too scared to admit that there's always been a little more light in him than his father wants there to be)
Basically he finds out something about how his great grandfather Sozin used to be a Jedi, until Sozin Fell and killed his best friend Roku, another Jedi and also Zuko’s mother’s grandfather, and he realizes there really always has been light in him. He finally admits to himself that he doesn’t actually want to be a part of the Empire, or a darksider
While he’s on the run, he spends a lot of time meditating and finding himself in the light side of the Force and stuff, and one day he opens up his sabers and purifies his crystals
I like to think that Zuko exists as sort of a Grey Jedi, who isn’t a darksider, but will never follow the Jedi Code or use the Force the way Aang does. So when he purifies his crystals, they turn a blinding white, to show how his destiny is in his own hands now. Also, I think one of his eyes stays Sith gold, while the other is dark brown, a color he hadn’t seen since before his mother died and his father began his training
Anyways, the Gaang saves the day; Aang fulfills the prophecy of the Chosen One and brings balance to the Force by defeating Ozai. Zuko and Katara fight Azula, and in typical Star Wars/ATLA fashion, Zuko gets Force Lightning’d. And up in the skies, Sokka, Toph, and Suki wreak havoc on the Empire’s Star Destroyers, and Sokka ends up breaking his leg because someone shoots the jetpack on his armor while he's trying to escape with Toph

i have such longing for a world with magic...
a world with whales that swim in the sky. beaches where mermaids sing. caves where dragons sleep. overgrown forests where fae dance and laugh. fairies that paint the night sky with golden sparkles as they fly. giant creatures that lumber through the forest. mushrooms that grow taller than a house. flowers that glow at night. castles that float in the sky. ice palaces in the mountains and coral ones in the sea. double moons. floating islands with waterfalls that fall forever. winding rivers whose banks sparkle with gemstones. soft moss that glows golden when stepped on. kingdoms and knights and villages and witches.
a world where you go outside and can taste magic on your tongue, sharp and exhilarating and beautiful.

9, 16, or 51, whichever you want to do/haven’t done yet 🥰!
9. “You really thought I was dead?”
16. “I want you to be happy…even if its not with me.”
i guess warning for jealousy?? not possessive or anything, more nervous i-really-love-you-and-this-person-unexpectedly-came-back-into-our-life-please-don’t-leave-me jealousy
Returning to Ba Sing Se after the war always felt distinctly like coming home to Zuko. He loved the Fire Nation, he really did, but there were so many bad memories locked away inside empty rooms and shadows decorating blank walls to ever allow it to feel like home. But in Ba Sing Se, strolling into his uncle’s teashop with Sokka’s hand clasped in his and his crown tossed into the bottom of the bag on his shoulder, those memories and shadows slipped away. Instead, there were warm memories of lazy afternoons serving tea to his uncle and friends and the sounds of bright laughter filling the shop, and he felt like he was home.
“You’re awfully smiley,” Sokka laughed as they approached the Jasmine Dragon. “What’re you thinking about?”
“Just that it feels like I’m home, is all. We haven’t been here in a long time, and it’s... It’s really nice. I don’t know if that sounds crazy, but-“
“No, it doesn’t. I feel it too,” he said warmly. “It’s easier here, somehow.”
Zuko nodded, pressing a kiss to Sokka’s forehead as they crossed the threshold of the shop. His uncle was standing behind the counter, and when he saw them come in his face split into a wide grin.
“Zuko! Sokka!” he exclaimed, rushing towards them. “I’m so glad you’re here.”
He dropped Sokka’s hand to meet his uncle’s embrace, sighing at the familiar smell of jasmine tea that hung around him. “Hi Uncle. I’ve missed you.”
“Me too. It’s been too long.”
“I know, I’m sorry. I just got so busy with work and it was hard to find the time to come visit.”
“It’s okay to take breaks, Zuko. You don’t have to be Fire Lord all the time.”
Zuko wanted to say that wasn’t true- that the Fire Nation still had so far to go and that work couldn’t always wait, and also point out that he was the one to insist Zuko take this job- but before he could Sokka was hugging his uncle and proclaiming, “Yeah, that’s why he has me. To make sure he’s talking a whole bunch of breaks.”
His uncle laughed. “I knew he’d be in good hands.”
“Yeah yeah,” he muttered, though he smiled at Sokka fondly and began walking toward the kitchen, where the stairs leading to his uncle’s apartment were. “Can we just drop our bags off, the come back down?”
“Of course. Although this reminds me I have a new employee, and I think it’s someone you’ll be relieved to see! He’s in the back.”
Zuko furrowed his brow, wondering who he could possibly be talking about considering all the people he would want to see were very much not in Ba Sing Se. Well, except Sokka, but it wasn’t like he was his new employe. Still, he just shrugged and pushed aside the curtain to go into the kitchen- only to stop when he saw a tall figure with shaggy black hair, a persistent stalk of wheat sticking out of his mouth. Suddenly, he felt like he was on the ferry to Ba Sing Se all over again.
Sokka, not noticing that Zuko had stopped, crashed into him. “Zuko, wha-“ He stopped too, staring at Jet with his jaw hanging open. “Jet?”
He looked up them, one eyebrow raised and smirking. “Hey Sokka,” he greeted coolly. “And if it isn’t Lee... Or I guess Fire Lord Zuko, I should say.”
“I- What?” he stuttered, not entirely understanding how, much less why, Jet was in his uncle’s tea shop. The first because last he’d heard Jet was dead, and the second because last he’d checked Jet hated him and his uncle. “What are you doing here?”
“Uh, I work here? I’m the new hire,” he said, crossing his arms and cocking his hip out.
“You- How?” Sokka asked, his face wrinkled in confusion. “At Lake Laogai you died. I mean, you got crushed under the rock and you-“
“Wait,” Jet laughed. “You really thought I was dead?”
Sokka and Zuko shared a confused glance, then looked back to him. “Yes?” Zuko asked. “I mean, we’ve seen Smellerbee and Longshot since then and they never said anything so...”
“Yeah, I told them not too. I needed time after I recovered to figure myself out, and wasn’t sure I could handle seeing any old flames- no pun intended- or enemies,” he said, pointedly sliding his eyes from Zuko to Sokka. “But I didn’t think you’d actually think I was dead… I told Katara I’d be fine. That wasn’t a lie.”
Zuko... Zuko didn’t know what to do. He had spent the past five years feeling so guilty for being the reason Jet ended up in Lake Laogai and blaming himself for his death, that seeing him in front of him brought on an overwhelming onslaught of memories and emotions and confusion. But with it was also a huge sense of relief, and he smiled at him softly.
“I’m really happy to see you, Jet,” he said honestly. “I’m glad you’re alright.”
“Don’t think I’m not still pissed at the fact that you lied to me, or for the pain the Fire Nation has caused me and my friends,” he said evenly, though his mouth ticked up in a smile, the wheat jumping as it did. “But I’m glad to see you too. You look good.”
Zuko rolled his eyes but smiled and leaned into Sokka, who had shifted to stand at his side rather than behind him. Sokka grabbed his hand immediately. “Thanks. There’s a lot that’s happened, recently, and if you were willing to, I’d like to catch up and... Well, I know there’s a lot of history, but maybe we could try to be friends?”
There was a slight twinkle in Jet’s eye as he watched Zuko and Sokka, one that reminded him of sneaking around the ferry and running down the streets of Ba Sing Se, and Zuko knew he’d realized they were together. He didn’t say anything though, just smiled. “Yeah. I’d like that. And you too, Sokka. I think I owe you a few apologies.”
Sokka snorted, though Zuko recognized it as one of begrudging amusement rather than actual anger. “Yeah, whatever man.”
Jet nodded and turned away, apparently satisfied with that, and Zuko tugged on Sokka’s hand to lead him up the stairs.
“So…” Sokka said nonchalantly when they had shut the door to the apartment. “Jet. Your ex. He’s downstairs.”
“Yeah…” he hummed, setting down his bag and turning to grab Sokka’s. “That was not at all what I was expecting, gotta be honest.”
“How do you feel about it?” There was something odd to his tone, something curious but also apprehensive, as if he didn’t really want to know.
He shrugged, stepping into Sokka’s space to pull him into a hug- although Sokka would never say it, he knew his boyfriend. After what happened with the village during the war and then later seeing him die- so they thought- that Jet’s presence had to have shaken him. He wondered if that was why his tone of voice was so odd.
“I don’t know yet. But he seems… He seems alright. Happier than he ever was when we had our thing, at least. And I think maybe… Maybe I’d like to try to be friends with him.”
Sokka hugged him back tightly, nodding thoughtfully. When he spoke, it was careful and deliberate. “If you ever decide you want to date him again, I need you to just tell me, okay?”
He pulled back, staring at him in confusion. “Sokka, what?”
“I mean it! I want you to be happy, even if it’s not with me. So… If you ever decide you’re into him-“
“For spirits sake,” he rolled his eyes lightly, realizing what was up with his tone of voice- he was nervous that now Jet was back, Zuko wouldn’t want to be with him anymore. “Sokka, that’s not going to happen. I love you, and I’m going to keep loving you for the rest of time. I already know that you’re it for me, love. Plus,” he dropped his voice into a conspiratorial whisper, “when I kiss you it doesn’t taste like wheat.”
Sokka laughed, shoulders relaxing. “I love you. And you’re it me, too. I’m sorry for being weird about him, it’s just… I don’t know how to explain it. Seeing him and remembering you had a thing and just... I got jealous, I guess.”
“It’s okay, love, I understand,” he said as he smoothed his palm over Sokka’s cheek, before kissing him softly. “Now, come on. I’m sure Uncle is dying to make us some tea.”

hey ellen happy 400 followers!! you deserve all of them and so many more <333 how about 19 or 30 for the prompts :3c
19. “God, you are so fucking cute.”
Zuko was tired. Really, really tired. The sort of deep tiredness that he could feel in his bones, in the heaviness of his feet, in the consistent fluttering of his eyelids, in the weakness of his muscles… A deep rooted exhaustion that was overpowering, until it was the only thing he knew.
It wasn’t an unusual feeling, especially considering it was the middle of tech week- at this point, after nearly a decade of being a theatre kid, then undergrad student, and now graduate student, the late hours and accompanying exhaustion were familiar. But this show… This show was just in particularly rough shape, so with just two days to opening, their director had been keeping them later and later. Pakku was never a particularly kind director, with little regard for the fact that his students had things like other homework and basic needs like food and sleep, and Zuko never enjoyed working with him.
But as he dragged himself up the stairs to his and Sokka’s apartment at two a.m. for the fourth night in a row, he couldn’t help but find new hatred for the crusty old man.
He let himself into the apartment with a sigh, dropping his backpack by the door and toeing of his shows. It was dark in the main room, but he didn’t bother turning on the light- he didn’t need to, because the light spilling from under his and Sokka’s bedroom door was bright enough to guide his way.
He pushed the door open to find Sokka sitting in their bed with a book open across his lap and his glasses sitting low on his nose, using one hand to flip the pages while the other pet their cat, Foo-Foo, idly. He looked up when Zuko walked in, and smiled softly.
“Hey sunshine,” he greeted quietly, shutting his book and putting it on his bed side. “You okay?”
Zuko just groaned, crawling onto the bed and laying down so that his face was buried in Sokka’s stomach. “I’m tired,” he grumbled.
“I bet… Pakku kept you ridiculously late again tonight, huh?”
His free hand made its way into Zuko’s hair, scratching at his scalp lightly. Zuko sighed and went boneless, relaxing into the touch.
“Yeah. First the sound system wasn’t working, and so Teo had to do a full reboot and run diagnostics to figure out what was going on, which took a long time. And then when he was finally able to get it working again, Ty Lee fell during one of the numbers and skinned her knee pretty bad, so that was a whole thing too. And then he was unhappy with how Jin and Haru were doing a scene, and spent hours on it. Which is ridiculous, because their acting is spot on, as usual, and they have all the lines down. It’s not their fault that Pakku changed his mind about the blocking a week before opening, and now they keep doing the old stuff,” he complained.
“Ugh, that sounds awful, Zu, I’m so sorry. Did you at least get to eat anything for dinner?” He shook his head, and Sokka sighed. “Damn, I hate him. Do you want me to make you anything? Or I can just grab you an orange or something small like that and we can go to bed?”
He shook his head, burying his fingers into Sokka’s shirt to keep him from leaving. “Too tired to eat. I’ll get ready for bed in a minute, I just... Just stay here for a minute with me? You’re comfy.”
“God, you are so fucking cute,” he heard Sokka murmur, body shaking slightly as he chuckled fondly. “Yeah, of course I’ll stay with you, love.”

congrats on 400 followers, ellen!!💓✨
okay i feel like you’re going to get a lot of zukka for the prompts so how about 30 (“I can’t talk to cute people, okay? I don’t know how to flirt!”) + jinzula? ily💕
30. “I can’t talk to cute people, okay? I don’t know how to flirt!”
“Stop laughing, Zuzu,” Azula snapped at her brother, who was leaning against the opposite side of the counter in the Jasmine Dragon, in tears he was laughing so hard. “It’s not funny.”
He wiped at his eyes to stop his tears and looked at her with a smirk. “I mean, it’s a little funny.”
“No, it’s not,” she insisted, frowning as she cleaned the tea cup in her hands with renewed fervor. It wasn’t funny, because they were at work, her heart was still doing all these weird anxious flips after asking him for help with this matter, and Zuko was laughing at her.
“Yes, it is,” he shot back, finally standing up to start wiping down the counter like he was supposed to be. “You are asking me, your gay brother, for help asking out Jin. There’s a little bit of irony here.”
“Zuko, be quiet,” she hissed, eyes flicking around the shop nervously to see if anyone heard him say their coworkers name. She wasn’t necessarily worried about Jin herself, because it was her day off and she therefore had no reason to be here, but the thought of a customer knowing she was pining after the girl... She shuddered.
“Right, I’m sorry. I forgot about your reputation of being unfeeling and calculating,” he teased, though his eyes softened immediately after and he lowered his voice, as if he saw her anxiety. “Anyways, I can try to help, but what makes you think I know anything about asking people out? You yourself have said it, I’m useless.”
She sniffed, gaze firmly on the new tea cup in her hand. “And I stand by that. But... Well, for some reason people like you. Somehow, you managed to get Mai to like you, and Jet, and now Sokka...”
He paused in wiping down the counter to level her with an even gaze. “Yeah but Azula, I didn’t try for those things to happen, they just did. I was just... Myself. Awkwardness and occasional stupidity and all.”
“What, so I should be more like you?” she snorted. “Unlikely.”
“That wasn’t my point Zula, and you know it. My point was that you’re beautiful and smart and have so much to offer, and that you should just talk to her. You’re already best friends, so just throw in some flirting and ask her on a date, and boom.”
She knew he was just trying to reassure you, and that this advice was exactly what she’d asked for, but somehow she still wasn’t satisfied or soothed. She wanted a step by step guide, a clear set of directions, a handbook... Something that kept her from getting in front the very cute girl with bright green eyes and the sweetest smile, who she liked more than she’d ever liked anyone else, and making a fool of herself.
“Zuko, that’s not going to work with her,” she sighed, grabbing another cup with a huff. “You say all of that, but then I go to talk to her and it’s a disaster.”
“Hey, Azula,” he muttered, but she wasn’t done.
“Besides, Jin’s amazing. If this is going to work, it needs to be perfect. ‘Just talking’ to her wouldn’t be perfect.”
“Azula—“
“I would do that, but... I can’t talk to cute girls, okay? I don’t know how to flirt!” she vented, staring at a smudge on the cup she was holding.
He coughed pointedly, and she looked up with a sharp retort on her tongue, only to falter when she saw Zuko was no longer alone. Instead, those same green eyes and smile she’d just been thinking about were staring at her.
“...Hi Jin,” she said awkwardly, setting the tea cup down before she dropped it, thinking about the fact that she’d definitely just heard everything she’d said. “Isn’t it your day off? What are you doing here?”
“Hey, Azula. Yeah, it is. I just... Well, I came to see you, actually.”
Distantly, Azula heard Zuko mutter that he was going to the back, but it was muffled by the thumping of her heart and she paid him no mind.
“Oh,” she murmured, cursing herself for sounding so surprised and... Zuko-like. Just like she’d known would happen, this was a disaster, and her cheeks quickly turned pink. “About what you heard-“
“It’s okay!” Jin interrupted quickly and placed her hand on Azula’s, the touch like electricity. “I have a hard time talking to cute girls too, and I definitely can’t flirt. Especially when it comes to this one coworker I have, with the most amazing eyes and this beautiful smile... And don’t even get me started on how smart she is, or how she brews the best cup of tea I’ve ever had, or how she pretends to be all tough and hides away how caring and loving she is...”
If Azula hadn’t been blushing before, she definitely was by now. “And that’s... That’s me?”
Jin beamed and squeezed her hand- Azula flipped her own so that their fingers were intertwined. “Yeah, Azula, that’s you. I actually came today because I was wondering if you’d like to go on a date with me? No flirting required.”
In her elation- and mild disbelief that this was real- Azula couldn’t stop herself from leaning across the counter to brush a kiss to her cheek. “I’d love to... No flirting required.”

82. I finally understand why you call them your arch nemesis... What a dick.
tw for the mention/use of guns. not real ones, but i’m tagging just to be safe!! also language
“Come on Sokka, you can’t hide forever!” Hahn called out, floating down the hallways with a distinctly smug tone that made the hairs on the back of Sokka’s neck stand upright.
“Shit,” he muttered, pressing himself closer to the wall as he looked to his right and caught Zuko’s eyes. “What’re we supposed to do?”
“I don’t know,” he hissed back, eyes gleaming wildly and his hair spilling out of his ponytail and sticking to his face. Still, he was beautiful, and Sokka had to remind himself that now was not a good time to pull him into a kiss- Hahn wouldn’t stop chasing them just because Sokka wanted to kiss his boyfriend. “We’re cornered.”
He pulled his eyes away from Zuko to look around, taking in the dark room they’d found themselves in. He was right- they were cornered. There was nothing except for a few broken tables, papers scattered on the floor, some file cabinets, and a dirty window with broken blinds. They had pressed themselves against the wall next to the door to hide, but it was only a matter of time before Hahn found them. He sighed, fiddling with the trigger of his gun and wondering what he’d done to deserve this.
“What?” Zuko hissed at his sigh.
“I was just wondering what I did to deserve this- getting stuck with my arch-nemesis hunting us down.”
Zuko stared at him incredulously. “Seriously? Not.... Not a plan? You’re always making plans. How are you not making a plan right now, when our lives actually depend on it?”
“I know, I know. I’m sorry. Uhhh...” he frowned, lost in thought. Suddenly, glancing at one of the file cabinets, his eyes lit up. “I got it! We use the file cabinet to break the window, then we jump out after it and run away!”
His boyfriend stared at him, mystified. “I’m going to die. I’m going to die with an absolute idiot!”
“Hey! To quote John Mulaney, I will admit things are getting pretty sticky, but you don’t have to be mean. Besides, what’s wrong with that plan?”
“Sokka... We’re on the sixth floor. We’d be lucky to get away with just a broken leg.”
He frowned. “Oh. Yeah, I kinda forgot about that.”
Zuko rolled his eyes, but he set his hand on top of Sokka’s where it held onto the handle of his weapon. “Okay, what if we-“
He didn’t get the chance to finish before Hahn kicked the door open and stepped into the room with his gun raised and back to them. Without a split second of thought, Zuko broke away from Sokka and launched himself at him, clinging to his back.
“What the fuck?” Hahn cursed, scrabbling to try and get Zuko off of him.
Zuko stayed there though, trying to wrangle his weapon away from him, and Sokka thought he’d never been more in love with him. That thought quickly turned into panic, though, when Hahn swung his free arm forward and slammed his elbow into Zuko’s stomach. Zuko immediately let go, coughing violently as he dropped to the floor, and Hahn used the opportunity to fire directly at his chest. Sokka cried out his name, everything fading away except for the fact that Zuko’s chest was now marked red and he was on the other side of the room instead of by his side. He began running, desperate to get to him.
“No, Sokka!” Zuko yelled, trying to stop him, but it was too late- there was the sound of a trigger being pulled, then a jolt in his chest.
He slid to a stop and looked at Hahn, standing there with his arm raised and pointed directly at him, then down to his chest, where the green circle on his vest had turned to a red x.
“Fuck,” he muttered as Hahn began laughing and the lights came on, the warehouse coming to life once again with laughter and shouts from Hahn’s team.
“Better luck next time, Sokka,” he smirked, clapping his shoulder with the hand not holding his laser gun before leaving through the door he’d kicked open.
Sokka dropped his own laser gun and pulled his vest off before sliding onto his knees next to Zuko, grabbing his hand. “Are you okay, babe? He elbowed you really hard.”
“I’m fine,” he grumbled, blowing hair out of his face in annoyance. “I can finally understand why you call him your arch-nemesis now... What a dick. Who even elbows people in laser tag?”
Sokka burst out laughing and pressed a kiss to his hair. “Yeah, he is. But we’ll get him next time... Right now, let’s just go home.”
Zuko beamed and Sokka helped him to his feet, and they walked out of the laser tag arena with their hands swinging between them.
