I am currently playing Morbid Gamer's Ultimate Decades Challenge! At this time, we are in the 1330s! I have given this LP a supernatural spin with real life event parallels, so I'd like to consider it "history adjacent." I really like telling stories and making up reasons for why my sims act the way they do, so if you like semi-narrative simming, perhaps you'd like my videos!
please refer to this list triggers.
Below the cut are a few of the mods + death wheels I use, mostly found in Morbid's discord server! I will do my best to reblog as many bits of great CC that I find, but feel free to ask if there is anything specific you're looking for!

tagged by @gerbits, thank you both!!! tagging with zero pressure as always: @cantseemtohide, @peachtonium, @storysims, and @zx-ta
what's your resolution for your simblr? i would really like to have a long enough queue to where when i take "breaks" from the game it's not noticed
what do you want from the sims franchise ? i'm tired of mundane gameplay, i want weird things and more supernaturals + updated plantsims. they need justice
any other new year's resolutions ? i've started a bujo this year!!! i would love to actually be able to finish it

In celebration of the comic's return after twenty years. You can play it in your browser here.
Note: all three gameplay styles are present in all three games.
You can listen to a cover of the game's theme song here.

That's mega man zero. A neat little series that, in my opinion, improves on the gameplay of the X series in a more compact package. These 4 games took me about 7 hours to beat collectively, so they're short, but if you can get past some of the arbitrary difficulties, it's well worth your time
And it leads into my beloved mega man zx

Alright. I’m late but here’s my backlog report for January. How did my first month of 2024 go in terms of games?
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
In a word, rather well.
Trails from Zero:
The first game of the new year that I beat. Would you believe me if I said this whole thing only took me about a week of concentrated play to beat?
Anyways, it’s probably the most solid title in the Trails series so far. As I’ve said before my journey into Trails was a bit screwy, due to only having a Switch and a standard laptop. It was surprising to find that a lot of the good that the series accumulated was actually added in this entry specifically, from attacking enemies on-screen, to bonus experience, to being able to use combo attacks a la Chrono Trigger.
Also, music good.
Star Ocean Second Story R:
I’m a sucker for anything that can blend science fiction and fantasy, which means that this was almost as good as drugs.
The only two negative things I can say about it is that 1.) the music wasn’t really bad, but not what I’d call my favorite, and 2.) I wish that characters had more interaction in Private Actions. I like the Private Action events, but I wish more involved more than the protag and the character in question.
My complaints with First Departure, mainly that the combat felt very barebones and there was no fast travel, have been destroyed here with extreme prejudice. The breaks and sidesteps are fun additions that don’t break the game, and the fast travel system not only gives you easy access, but also notes when and where events are available, so no more cursing yourself for not having the exact timing to recruit a character.
Gunvolt Chronicles 2:
If you liked Mega Man Zero/ZX, chances are you will like or do like this series. I myself have been a fan since the 3DS days.
Unfortunately, while I did enjoy my time with this, I was a little bit disappointed.
In terms of gameplay, Copen no longer feels like Copen. The high-speed human pinball has been grounded and his range has been shortened. While he gets his wings back once the kudos reach a certain threshold, this means that I was constantly cursing my muscle memory, having to remind myself that I only had one air dash and the attack button was no longer a straight shot but a melee saw.
In terms of story, while I like a few of the ideas and the new character of Null, I found it hard to truly get invested. None of Gunvolt Chronicles 1’s supporting cast is present aside from Kohaku, and we frankly don’t spend enough time with Null or Ypsilon for them to be compelling. Also ‘character falls into portal because reasons!’ is a trope I hate. They explain it eventually, but it’s just the perfect encapsulation of how break-neck fast this story moves. Prologue movie where characters get isekai’d, short two-sentence long introduction to Null, and Bam! Months long time-skip.
I feel like Inti-creates and I just have different opinions on the Gunvolt series’ identity, but that’s a discussion for an entirely separate time. I make these reports to have fun, not to vent.
Final Fantasy IV (DS version):
Would you believe me if I said this one took half the month?
Anyways, I first encountered this game on the Wii’s Virtual Console shop, back in the good old days of owning your own retro software. Being a kid of average intelligence, it completely escaped me that you could save on the overworld, which meant that despite trying to get into it a few times, FFIV was the first game to be booted when I needed memory space.
A few years back I finally got my hands on a copy of the DS remake with 3D models and voice acting by the likes of Yuri Lowenthal. And it rocked.
I think the augment system is undercooked, but that is the only complaint I can think of, because the music, the story, and the gameplay are all great! Let me put it to you this way: FFIV’s active time battle system was so good that they used it for five more games straight, and borrowed from it heavily for 12.
I know that the Crystal Remasters have come out and gained notoriety, but I still prefer this version because of the solid voice cast, fun art direction, and balanced yet challenging difficulty.

NEWCREST - Bridgeview -   Oak Alcove (20x15) Lot made by reaganleeds on the gallery ( FixerUpper 3BR Starter)
Melissa and Chris Roomies are about to renew their wedding vows (because I need to finally try “wedding stories” now that it’s fixed). They live in this fixer upper house, I got rid of all the mess and set their family funds to 0 as I always like a little challenge. After a few weeks... one bathroom is 100% done. Don’t worry, they have a bed, enough stuff to cook and improve their skills, but I can’t call it “actual rooms”.
I wanted them to have real hobbies and passions as most of my sims do a little of everything and I dislike that. So Melissa works in the conservationist career (Island living) for now and enjoy gardening and everything related to nature. Later, maybe she’d like to do more and will move on to a political career. Chris chose a law career, she adopted Corkey as a pet and spends a lot of time training him. She also enjoy jogging and joined the yoga club *with Nancy Landgraab cough cough*

Fallout but Punk, Aggressively 80's, and British.
I've had these ideas floating around for ages. I'm fairly certain I've written some of them down, but... eh. Consider this a consolidation.
-You have a choice between four Pip-boy analogues at the start of the game - based on the ZX Spectrum, Commodore 64, BBC Micro, and Amstrad CPC. Each one changes gameplay a little (frozen VATS versus slo-mo versus aim assist versus no tactical mode but other bonuses, different hacking minigames, able to access different kinds of machinery with hacking).
-Zombie!Margaret Thatcher is the Queen. This is a disaster for every reason regular Margaret Thatcher was.
-Fewer regular firearms, more weird-ass contraptions that look like they'll blow you up too.
-Scottish claymores. Because.
-Several radio stations. Your "main" station is, of course, a Radio Caroline analogue playing all the rock and early punk you could want.
-The Doctor shows up in one quest, because of course he does.
-(Probably the 7th. Because Ace.)
-EVERY major faction has a mission where you have to raid the British Museum.
-Strong emphasis on crafting, because of course you have to make the tools you need to destroy the system.

Finished Fark's story in stej. It was fun, he is kinda like Zero MMX except even more close range and I enjoyed playing him (I like ZX gameplay but Zero in X game kinda eh to me) Also what with the fps drop in this game, it ain't my pc. Not critical but still I am so good at 2D platformers literally this is what I've been made for (<hasn't played em properly since being 17 likely, but boy I sure played a lot) Big fan of how Fark just, chilling at Spark's place in this continuity (sad it ain't canon, ig Spark must be subjected to horrors, as funny cartoony OC owner myself-understandable and valid mr Lake)

Cabal (カベール, Kabēru) is a 1988 arcade shooter video game originally developed by TAD Corporation and published in Japan by Taito, in North America by Fabtek and in Europe by Capcom. In the game, the player controls a commando, viewed from behind, trying to destroy various enemy military bases. The game was innovative for the era, but only a mild success in the arcades, and became better known for its various home conversions.
Cabal has one-player and two-player-simultaneous modes of gameplay. Each player assumes the role of an unnamed commando trying to destroy several enemy military bases. There are 5 stages with four screens each. The player starts with a stock of three lives and uses a gun with limitless ammunition and a fixed number of grenades to fend off enemy troops and attack the base. The commando is seen from behind and starts behind a protective wall which can be damaged and shattered by enemy fire. To stay alive, the player needs to avoid enemy bullets by running left or right, hiding behind cover, or using a dodge-roll. An enemy gauge at the bottom of the screen depletes as foes are destroyed and certain structures (which collapse rather than shatter) are brought down. When the enemy gauge is emptied, the level is successfully completed, all of the remaining buildings onscreen collapse, and the player progresses to the next stage. If a player is killed, he is immediately revived at the cost of one life or the game ends if they have no lives remaining. Boss fights, however, restart from the beginning if the only remaining player dies.
From time to time, power-ups are released from objects destroyed onscreen. Some power-ups give special weapons such as an extremely fast-firing machine gun or an automatic shotgun with a lower firing rate and larger area of effect. Others grant extra grenades or additional points.
The arcade cabinet is a standard upright cabinet. Each player uses a trackball to move their character from side to side and move the crosshairs about the screen. On later board revisions, a joystick was installed instead with an optional sub-PCB for use with a trackball. With a trackball, dodge-rolling is done by pushing the trackball to maximum speed.
Cabal was somewhat innovative in that it featured a 3D perspective in which the player character was situated in the foreground with an over-the-shoulder camera view, similar to modern third-person shooters. Players cannot move the character while firing (holding down the fire button gives players control of the aiming cursor), and when moving the character to avoid incoming bullets, the aiming cursor moves along in tandem. This creates the need for a careful balance between offensive and defensive tactics, separating Cabal from run-and-gun shooters which relied more on reflexes. Advanced gameplay involves destructible asset management in balancing dodging (which gets riskier as the number of enemy projectiles on screen increases) with the safer alternative of taking cover behind a protective but limited durability wall.
Cabal was ported to several home computers of the era, including the DOS computers, Amstrad CPC, Commodore 64, ZX Spectrum, Atari ST and Amiga. It was also ported to the Nintendo Entertainment System console by Rare. A version for the Atari Lynx was previewed and even slated to be published in April 1992, but it was never released by Fabtek.
When converting the game to the Nintendo Entertainment System, Rare were given a Cabal cabinet but did not have access to the game's source code, so they had to play the game over and over and redraw the graphics from memory. To accommodate the many layers and sprites of the arcade game, programmer Anthony Ball used a common coding trick: swapping sprites from left to right every other frame. This has the negative side effect of causing the sprites to flicker when they reach the console's limit of eight per line, but Ball, like many programmers of the era, found this an acceptable trade-off for including all the game's content, and in a 2016 interview he said he is happy with the quality of the conversion.
