i know you have a lot on your plate at the moment, and i wish i could be around today to help you study and support you while you get ready for finals. unfortunately, i’ll be stuck in that annoying chem lab all day today – but don’t worry about me, my final project is going to be just fine, even if my partner is a little annoying.

anyways, i woke up this morning and didn’t want to leave your side, but i knew i had to, so i left you this note. i can only hope that you’ve slept enough and that you haven’t knocked over that glass of water and gotten this note all wet. i’m sure the ink would run and ruin my beautiful penmanship, rendering my affections illegible in the process.

i love you very much, but that’s probably obvious with how much i say it. i sincerely hope you don’t find the phrase worn out or diluted by its frequency of use. i really do love you. i really am proud of you for all of your hard work, no matter how things turn out, because you’re terrifyingly brilliant and you put more than an admirable amount of effort into everything.

i’ll pick up that drink you like on the way home, ‘kay? so just text me, and let me know if you need anything else. i’ll be back to hold you in my arms as soon as i can – i pray to the archons that no one goes over time on their presentation and delays my return.

i’m running out of time, i have to get to lab soon for the presentations, so i’ll have to cut this note off here, even if i could keep writing to you until the sun rose and sank below the horizon and then sank again.

Recently a couple of the autistic kids I work with have inspired me with openly, unapologetically owning it.

Like one kid saying “if I don’t make eye contact it’s because I find that hard and it’s easier to concentrate on what you’re saying if I’m not looking at you.”

And another one asking for clarification of an ambiguous statement to check understanding instead of just hoping for the best.

And one saying “I’m going to stim now, this conversation is hard”

I have so much respect for them for being able to voice those things! It’s inspired me to try harder to do that instead of masking until I meltdown because I’m so scared of how people will react.
