Officer Swanson: pov hi you must be Stana and him Greig. Stana doesn't look okay, sir is she okay. She wasn't injured or anything. Greig says I don't know. I haven't checked yet. I just took off her life jacket. With her health I just want to be cautious. If you don't mind me asking, what health issues does she have? He explains her medical history to me which has me concerned. As a precaution I would like to call an ambulance and have her checked out. While we wait for the ambulance he explains what happened in the pool to me. The teens are being handcuffed and taken to the police station.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek/Greig: pov the medics arrive on scene, after going over her medical history with them they hook her up to some monitors. Kate does not want to go to the hospital at all. Her EKG looks okay. The medic says since her chest hurts a little and she doesn't want to go to the ER and her having previous chest trauma. Call her cardiologist to make an appointment to check and make sure everything is okay. But for now take it easy and if she can ice it or use a heating pad and if she has any symptoms bring her in immediately.
Kate/Stana: pov we are finally home after what felt like hours at the pool. Me and Castle have a system where I call the old haunt instead of the house phone or his cellphone, then he calls me back. That way we can talk for a while. Nick is helping me get settled on the sofa, he has some stuff he wants to get done on the computer. After 40 minutes my phone is ringing its Castle calling me back from the old haunt.
Castle: pov I had pizza for dinner, Kate is updating me on how her day went, where is Greig, Kate says on the computer getting some stuff done. I can hear Nick in the back tell her to tell me what happened at the pool. Kind of seems like she doesn't want to tell me.
Kate/Stana: pov ugh Nick it's not a big deal, Castle says what isn't a big deal. Some drunk teen shoved me in the chest in the pool and yes I was wearing my life jacket. I can hear how angry Castle is. I explained that the teen was being mean to a kid with special needs and I stepped in the way. Nick shouts from the other room and she didn't want to go to the ER to get checked out.
Castle: pov Kate is this why you didn't want to tell me. She says her vitals were fine and so was the monitor the EMT’S had me hooked up to for a bit. You better take it easy, the medics told her to just make an appointment with her cardiologist to make sure everything is okay. Kate asks how physical therapy went, it's great I only have a few appointments left before I'm 100 percent. A friend of mine actually picked me up at the loft after therapy so we could go out to eat and catch up.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek/Greig: pov Kate fell asleep on the sofa talking to Castle, I'm going to have to wake her up so she can go to bed. I carefully wake her up. She looks so exhausted. I can hear her in the bedroom getting ready for bed. I'm so happy the place has a video game console Because It's calling my name. I can’t stay up too late otherwise I might miss the meeting we have in the morning.
Kate/Stana: pov it's now morning I can hear Nick in the kitchen probably making breakfast. I take my meds and head towards the kitchen. My phone is ringing. It's Dr Springfield's office. She must have the results of my allergy test. I hear her say something about the lab doing the blood test having a power outage and it's a real mess trying to see what is okay and what is not rescheduling appointments to re-due the blood tests. The good thing is my allergy test is back the one she did by swabbing my mouth. I’m so nervous Castle isn't here with me.
Dr Springfield: pov did you ever have any food allergies as a kid or family members who did? no, okay from looking at your test results you are 100 percent allergic to pineapple, peanuts and a few other things.
Kate/Stana: pov wait did you say peanuts because I used to have them all the time, had a jar on my desk forever and had to stop eating them because they were bad for my health. I think it's just that they have too much salt or something. In a few weeks I should have my blood test results if they survived otherwise I will have to get more blood work.
Dr Springfield: pov me and my colleagues are stumped by the fact that you are allergic to food you eat and never had a problem, it could just be a delayed reaction but that doesn't seem right either. After you were shot did you have a blood transfusion for the blood loss. Kate says she got so many bags of blood it was as if her own blood didn't exist anymore. Okay that makes sense, some people can have an allergic reaction from blood or get food allergies from them but they should disappear after a few months but what is odd for you it's been a few years. It should have disappeared. I'm going to have to look into this more.
Kate/Stana: pov I will call Castle on a public phone if I find one while we are out today otherwise I will call the old haunt tonight that way i can speak to him. It looks like Nick is making a healthy breakfast. He says he found the recipe online. I set the table and fill our cups with water and juice while he plates our food. He asks how my allergy test turned out, well the place doing the blood test had a power outage and everything is a real mess. But the test Dr Springfield did by swabbing my mouth came back and the results are weird. I'm allergic to pineapple, which we thought and peanuts. Both foods I normally eat. The Dr is trying to figure it out. Wow Nick this food is amazing. To be continued. ……….

Kate/Stana: pov after dinner Nick/Greig ask if I want to go to the pool he found out while I was changing earlier that our apartment building has one. Says it's a good way to meet the neighbors. He asks if I'm okay in water after the whole, almost drowning in the Hudson thing. Nick/Greig it is not a trigger for me that I know of. Plus I took the pool safety class and passed. I know how to be safe in the water. Back at our place I'm in the bedroom changing into my full piece bathing suit. Nick/Greig is in the bathroom changing into his. I grab my life jacket and a small medical bag with my meds and a few other things.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek/Greig: pov I grab some towels before we leave for the pool. The walk is short to the pool, there are a bunch of people mostly teens in the pool hanging out. I should have thought of the fact that she might not be able to be in the pool safely.
Kate/Stana: pov i put my life jacket on Nick/Greig is nice enough to sit with me on the edge of the pool. I don't feel comfortable getting in with all of the teens in the water. I don't want them to accidentally bump into me. With Me and Nick/Greig being cops we can tell a few of the boys have been drinking and tell them it's not safe to be in the water while they are drunk. The drunk teens look like they are about to leave. We decided to continue our Conversation.
Kate/Stana: pov I notice a woman with 3 kids, one looks like it's a special needs child and one is an infant. I elbow Nick softly to get his attention. We offer to help the mom with her kids. Nick is holding the special needs kid helping him in the water. I'm holding the little girl's hand. The drunk teens are splashing us and saying mean things calling Isaac useless and a waste, they are saying what baby can't talk, why would someone let him live let alone choose to give birth to him and keep him. They keep coming closer to him saying mean things. Nick is using his body to protect Issac, i tell him to get the kids out of the pool. I decided to step in saying that they are being rude and to treat him nicely. All human beings deserve to be treated equally. They start saying mean things about me saying only babies were life jackets and aren't you too old to not know how to swim. Too bad I can't arrest them. Whatever sounds Issac is making because he isn't happy Nick is trying to get him out of the pool quickly is triggering them. It happens so suddenly they charge forward towards Nick and Issac who are near the stairs, without thinking I step in front of the teens who then shove me hard in the chest it causes me to gasp in pain and takes my breath away.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek/Greig: pov another woman grabs the baby from the mother so she can grab Issac, I then jump in and manage to pull Kate out of the water. She is holding her chest and seems in pain and startled. The teens, shoving her in the chest probably hurt since i Don't know if her chest is sensitive. A woman who was sitting on the other side of the pool watching her children play asks if Kate/Stana is okay because she is a nurse.
Kate/Stana: pov Nick already has my life jacket off without even realizing it I'm rubbing my chest. I don't want this to turn into an episode. Nick can see it in my face that I'm in some pain. My chest hurts a little, another person is shouting that the police are on the way. This is not how I wanted our night to turn out. I can barely register what is happening.
Amy the nurse: pov Sir is the woman with you okay Greig says I'm not sure Stana has some health issues. What kind of health issues he explains that she has previous chest trauma from a shooting, a heart condition, has had emergency heart surgery, suffered a few cardiac arrest, has ptsd and a weakened immune system. Oh okay that's a lot for one person.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek/Greig: pov I don't want this to turn into a bad situation. Kate is sitting next to me. I had a buddy in the military who had PTSD so I know how to handle it, let's hope that doesn't happen. I check her numbers to make sure she is okay. They are okay,
Amy the nurse: pov I can hear police sirens meaning the police are here. Greig says he doesn't want to get the police involved.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek/Greig: pov crap the police are about to arrive the chances of them knowing who we are is very high. Thankfully the 2 cops who show up are rookies and don't know who me and Kate are.
Officer Swanson: pov what seems to be the problem here we got a call about a possible assault and under age drinking. The woman who called us explained as much as she could. From what I understand the drunk teens were bothering a special needs kid and shoved a woman named Stana. First things first we need to interview the witnesses.
Officer Kai: pov I'm talking with Issac ‘s mother since she witnessed it all, she wants to press charges. My partner officer Swanson is now talking to Stana, the woman who was shoved by the teens. To be continued. ……..

I signed up to promote room 553 by Brittany King on release day, which included a book reviewer. I told the person I was emailing for the release day stuff. Sorry, i don't remember the persons name since it was only an email name that I needed a pdf version. i think it was around april . The person said they would look into it. In June a few weeks before release day they send out the link for the digital copy of the book I mentioned that I didn't see a pdf version which I would need to read the book the person then told me they don't have a pdf version. I was upset because they could have told me weeks ago that they didn't have a pdf version, but they didn't, I still promoted the book but was disappointed because I really wanted to read the book. Again, this isn't about me being angry about what happened it's about how we as a society can communicate better with each other.

Ryan: pov me and Esposito are on our way to interview the injured cop. I hope his injuries aren't too bad. I park the car in front of his house. Esposito let me drive the way here. Once inside we ask him about what happened and for his side of the story. It feels like his story is missing some parts but he might not remember them because he got injured.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek: pov back on the road on our way to the meeting, Kate discusses with me how the both of us can make this undercover assignment believable. It's agreed that hanging out in public places might benefit us.
Kate/ Stana: pov Nick turn left or you are going to miss the warehouse it is on your left side. He finds a parking space and helps me out of the truck. The guy we met last time, Kovitch, is waiting for us outside. He takes us to meet his boss Illvan Kravitz, after passing by a few rooms in the warehouse me and Nick are ushered into a room in the back that looks like an office.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek/Greig: pov Illvan Kravitz is bigger than me and very scary looking. I'm 6ft. I know Kate is like 5ft9 because she is a little bit shorter than me. He is asking what brought us here. A guy handed us a piece of paper with the meeting time for yesterday with your name on it. me and my wife Stana are new to the area, having been living in a motel until we could find a place and rebuild are drug operations. Something out of our control happened in the last state/town we lived in.
Illvan Kravitz: pov before I go into business with you guys I need to know what happened just in case the police are on your tail, I don't want to get caught because of you guys.
Kate/Stana: pov As I was coming out of our warehouse a guy whose son overdosed on our drugs was on the roof across the street with a sniper rifle. I just didn't know it yet. Thankfully he didn't kill me, the bullet hit my left inferior pulmonary vein and left ventricle. Nick had to call the paramedics while performing CPR on me. A witness had called the cops. I was rushed into emergency heart surgery. It was 3 months before I could do anything again. The police eventually caught the guy, he was charged with attempted murder. With us being drug dealers we had to lay low for a bit. I did not want me being shot as the reason we got caught by the police. The both of us changed our names layed low and here we are in a different state rebuilding our business and life.
Kovitch: pov wholly crap I can't believe that happened to her. My boss seems impressed that they managed to avoid the police. The 3 of them are talking, business. Once they are done I walk them back to their car, I don't know if I trust them yet.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek/Greig: pov back in the car we stop at the grocery store so our online pick up order can be put in the truck. At the apartment a man is waiting outside for us saying everything is taken care of. Me and Kate unload our stuff and groceries from the truck wow Kate you have more stuff than me, then again women always pack heavy.
Kate/Stana: pov i’m going to forget you said that, a lot of it is my medical stuff. I'm carrying the box with my medical stuff inside. I put it down in the living room which is on the right. It has a sofa by the window and a sofa bed. In the kitchen which is on the left when you walk in the front door. I put the important medical info on the fridge and tape it in place. With a bit of teamwork the groceries get put away. It's hard trying to decide what's for dinner. It's still early enough that eating out is an option.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek/Greig: pov if you are feeling okay why don't we eat out obviously it's your choice plus there are groceries in the fridge. Kate agrees to eat out tonight, why don't you get ready while I make some business phone calls. I will tell you about it in the car onto the way to the restaurant.
Kate/Stana: pov on the way to the bedroom in the back of the apartment I pass the bathroom on the left. The couch in the Living room is a pull-out which I asked the Captain of the drug unit for. Nick is taking it so I can have the bed. I grab a cute sun dress and braid my curly hair into a French braid. Thankfully Castle had looked up restaurants nearby. The ride to the restaurant is short, Nick's says he set up a few drug deals for tomorrow. The both of us have to document this very well because we need as much evidence as possible to put these other people away.
Castle: pov It's just me and my mother for dinner Alexis has plans with Dave. Mom made spaghetti with meat sauce and garlic bread on the side which looks amazing. Since Kate is undercover with Nick and can't call me, Lanie or the boys she came up with a brilliant plan. She will call the landline phone at the old haunt and that way the 4 can talk with her. Mother has offered to drop me off later.
Esposito: pov i’m still doing paperwork and other things, Ryan went home early to be with his pregnant wife Jenny. Me and Lanie have plans to get takeout then head to the old haunt and call Kate to update her on the case.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek/Greig: pov I found a parking space in front, it's nice enough that me and Kate can eat outside. To be continued. ………

I one time had a woman looking for a beta reader in March of 2021. Her book sounded good, so I offered to beta read it after asking how many pages it was and specifying i would need a pdf version and her telling me she would get back to me with the page count tomorrow because she didn't have the final page count yet, after waiting a while for more info in June she replied to my message that said congratulations on the book coming out. She said she still needed beta readers. I then sent her my bitmoji saying best news ever she then asked what was my email was after giving it to her she then messaged me in july saying she would send me some chapters tomorrow and never did my email conversation with her seem to have been deleted which is weird. Not once was I rude. I only messaged her a few times between March and July. I have no idea what happened. I don't even think she released the book. If she changed her mind about releasing the book, that's okay. She could have just told me that. I wouldn't have been mad, no hard feelings towards this person. I couldn't beta read as many books as I wanted from March to july in case she sent the book to me. I was also very excited to read the book. This isn't about me being angry about what happened it's about how we as a society can communicate better.

Update on my microgreens i have 9 trays of microgreens growing all growing at different stages since they are all a few days apart, plus they are super healthy for you and easy to grow.

Castle: pov i’m in front of the closet with our medical supplies, I grab the defibrillator and put it in the box next to some monitors and other medical supplies. It's better to have too much rather than not enough. Kate is putting her stuff in a travel bag and some other stuff in a box like extra bedding, blanket and more bathroom supplies. Nick arrives saying the ice is in the trunk like you asked Kate says it's for the food. I kiss her goodbye and tell her to keep me or Lanie updated.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek: pov while Kate is on the phone with Captain Ellison who called her I dump the ice in the cooler to keep the food cold. I hear her say yeah it won't get in the way of my job and when can you have it ready. I mouth to her what can he have ready, Kate mouths house. As soon as Kate is off the phone, I ask her what he wants, she says he talked to 1pp and they want to send us undercover. I had to explain to him about my health which he couldn't care less about, Captain Ellison said I better not ruin his investigation. He is trying to get us a house or ground floor apartment in the area the drug dealers are in. Want to stop for lunch before our meeting. I know a great place to eat.
Esposito: pov I head down into the morgue and let her know Kate is going undercover. She just texted me letting me know Captain Ellison asked 1pp to sign off on it. So Lanie, what do you have for me?
Lanie: pov he died from multiple stab wounds, I had the lab test both spots of blood at the crime scene and the other drops of blood are not our victims. I found a match in the police database.
Esposito: pov wait are you saying it's a cop's blood. Kate did say the undercover officer from the drug unit was injured some time yesterday. Lanie says It's definitely his, I guess I have to find him and question him he might be a witness.
Kate: pov while we are in the car we come up with a great backstory for us, especially my scars/medical issues. Nick turn right or you're going to miss our exit. The food place should be on your left after the light. Nick finds a parking space near the front, in the building I ordered a brown rice bowl and strawberry smoothie, I explain to the person behind the counter that I have health issues.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek: pov I order the everything bowl, it looks amazing Kate pays for our food. She suggests a park near our meeting so that way we can both eat. Turns out Castle found it looking up stuff where the drug dealers are in case we had to go undercover. Man Castle thinks of everything. After parking the car I get out and check on the cooler to make sure the ice didn't melt too badly. The ice still looks great, barely melted. We still have a good amount of driving. The other meeting yesterday was closer by.
Kate: pov I point to a picnic table in the shade, conversation is easy between the both of us. Captain Ellison has given us burner phones before we left his office just in case we needed them, computers are waiting for us at the apartment. I'm placing a grocery order which we will pick up after our meeting since the apartment should be ready by then. Castle looked up local urgent cares and emergency rooms in case of an emergency. Crap I have an appointment with my therapist tomorrow.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek: pov you go to a therapist. Kate reminds me that she has PTSD and the police department wants to make sure she is fit for duty.
Kate: pov I need to talk to him about a few things, I will call him and see if it can be a virtual appointment. My step daughter Alexis and her boyfriend Dave are having a charity day at school. Alexis picked a heart charity and Dave picked one to end gun violence they both wanted to add a video to their project so the day before yesterday I had to help them look through photos and videos of when I was recovering which wasn't pleasant.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek: pov that must have been hard. Reliving that terrible time in your life. Kate mentions while she was dying in the cemetery Castle told her he loved her. I thought you were with Josh at the time.
Kate: pov i was with Josh, told Castle I didn't remember getting shot because I thought it was a deathbed confession. I broke up with Josh and stayed at my dad's cabin for a while. I had constant echocardiograms while I recovered. When I returned to the city for my 3 month check up I had a special test done and that confirmed that I did in fact have a heart condition. It's normal for people with my type of injury to have issues while recovering.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek: pov random question does it still hurt. Kate asks if I mean her chest and side. Yes because I knew a guy in the military who got shot in the arm and said he could still feel it years later.
Kate: pov what he had is most likely ptp, post traumatic pain. I have something similar. I usually have Lanie or Castle go with me to Dr's appointment, emergency room visits or urgent care trips. With my PTSD being alone in those settings isn't great. A little heads up thunder and fireworks trigger me for some reason, might be the Loud noise or the flashes of light I have no idea. Nick I have a question for you besides CPR which you should know from your NYPD handbook and days at the academy. Do you know how to use a defibrillator, not that we are going to need it. I just want to make sure in an emergency that you can use it. I tell Nick i will show him how to use it. To be continued………

Kate: pov besides studying up for today's meeting I think we should get to know each other better. Nick asks if I like water because he is not a big fan. Says he almost drowned as a toddler. Well I almost drowned in the Hudson River. Me and Castle were working a case with the CIA and my squad car went into the Hudson and my seat belt was jammed. Castle had to shoot at it to free me. He had to do mouth to mouth until I started breathing, I then proceeded to throw up everywhere then I was checked out by the medics just to make sure I didn't have any complications. Nick is an only child and both his parents are still alive. Well my mother was murdered I explain as much as I can up until the airport hanger the rest is for another story. My dad didn't take her death well, he was an alcoholic and is sober now, been for a while.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek: pov i’m so thankful I haven't had any near death experiences on the job. I guess almost drowning in the Hudson can count for you as a near death experience. Kate says it is not my first, I was locked in a freezer with Castle. Well Kate I'm a hard worker, I was in the military before being a cop. Addicted to coffee and chocolate, I could eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches every day if allowed.
Kate: pov we talk a little bit more about ourselves. I was so obsessed with my mother's case that I almost lost my life, I used to be a control freak. I'm getting better at it. My friends and family worry too much about me.
Ryan: pov Esposito informs me Kate might have to go undercover and he will be in charge until she gets back, I'm looking at surveillance Camera footage from the area where the murder took place. Esposito says something about Lanie finding something during her autopsy.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek: pov I understand they don't want to hear you died in the line of duty. A guy I knew from the gang unit was killed in the line of duty a few years ago. It was so hard going to his funeral, his wife was pregnant at the time and they had a 2 year old at home.
Kate: pov that must have been horrible, my Captain also died in the line of duty. I have never been able to attend another funeral since his I actually have severe PTSD from everything that went on with his funeral. I explain to Nick what went on before the funeral and how he died.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek: pov wow that must be hard with his betrayal and lies about your mother's case no wonder you have PTSD. Now that i'm thinking about it she said PTSD from his funeral. I get it, it's hard going to funerals after losing someone you are very close with. Kate says well dying at one does make you afraid of funerals. I’m so confused, what do you mean?
Kate: pov you've never died at a funeral before. Nick says you say that like you have died at one before? Because I have.
Officer Nicholas (Nick) Stephen McSwarek: pov you've died before when, Kate says my Captain's funeral. I was shot in the chest on my left side. In the ambulance I went into cardiac arrest they had to use the defibrillator on me and bag me. I had severe chest trauma and blood loss. At the hospital my friend Lanie, who is a medical examiner, continued CPR on me until another Dr took over for her. I was rushed into emergency heart surgery. My boyfriend at the time Cardiac surgeon Josh Davidson happened to be on shift. I had a collapsed lung that required a chest tube. The trauma was so severe that they had to do a thoracotomy. It's a massive horizontal incision on your side from your chest to your back. Josh then inserted a breathing tube since I wasn't breathing and my stats were dropping the bullet hit/grazed my left inferior pulmonary vein and left ventricle causing a cardiac tampon my surgeon Dr Kovaks who took over for Josh had to cut some of my pericardium to let the blood out and repair my ventricle, I then went into vfib and they had to use the internal paddles twice, they had to do manual heart massages I then went into cardiac arrest again and flatlined. Dr Kovaks eventually brought me back to life. I had to have a massive transfusion of blood because my blood loss was so severe. I spent a week in the CICU unconscious with a breathing tube breathing for me covered in wires. I don't think people thought I was going to make it, but here I am alive and doing better. I still struggle a little but that is expected after everything I went through. My immune system still isn't great and I have to take heart meds daily for the rest of my life for my arrhythmia. I'm still working on my PTSD. I know my triggers and stay away from them as best as I can.
Kate: pov I'm also allergic to pineapple, waiting for my allergy test results to see if i'm allergic to anything else. Should know in 2 to 3 days. I think the both of us should pack just in case we have to go undercover. How long will it take you to pack, it will take me a while to pack. Since we are using your car, can you pick me up from the loft and then the both of us can go to the meeting? Make sure to throw some food in a cardboard box/ cooler if you have one and grab some ice at the gas station while you fill up the car. At the loft Castle is still home I explain everything to him and Martha quickly.
Martha: pov I'm in charge of putting the food from Katherine's cabinet in a cardboard box and some stuff from the fridge that she can eat. I grab the cooler and put some fruit and a few other things in it. To be continued. ……..
