of course, right after you mention a farm AU the Astarion mod for Stardew Valley shows up! It's a sign that I have to return to Stardew Valley now
Just googled this mod when I got this ask and I have to do a playthrough with it now. Usually, I romance Sebastian in my Stardew playthroughs, but now I'll have to remember Elliott's schedule since it works off that.
also, the timing of the 1.6 update has just made the stars align for this as a whole.
But rambles aside, it is nice to see that someone able to implement a way to have that farm au be real within stardew, giving our vampire the peace he needs.

Draconic Sorcerer Tav Headcanons
not an anon request this time but this was sitting on my wip for ages so I'll put it out now. Hope my fellow draconic sorcerer/dragonborn(?) fans.
As a draconic sorcerer, the blood that runs in your veins is filled to the brim with the magical potency of such grand beasts. The scales that lie across your skin are a clear sign to others of your ancestry.
Despite the power within you, it can’t transform you into a dragon but rather changes the physical appearance of your body, from the tips of your fingers becoming sharp-like claws, to your fangs ready to tear anything or one that stands in your path.
Many upon hearing of such graphic descriptions would tend to avoid your kind, but not Astarion, he’s enamoured with the way you look and act.
Astarion would be interested in your draconic tongue, listening as you speak to Gale and Lae’zel with each syllable hissing off the end of your tongue, akin to a growling beast, in comparison to the soft-spoken tone of elvish that he speaks in.
Later he tries to ask Lae’zel and Gale to teach him some draconic phrases, under the guise of wanting to learn such a uniquely rare language. Gale would attempt to teach him more simple dull phrases whilst Lae’zel would teach him phrases that mainly translated to battle cries. But soon he would tire of the dull lectures. Deciding to just stick to common instead.
After your first night together in the forest during the tiefling party, he would go around bragging about how he got to “ride” a dragon first before poor lae’zel. She’d quickly rebuttal with the threat to slice off his head, lest he continue with his antics.
When he drinks your blood, apart from getting a slight boost to his magic, the flavour changes based on your blood ancestry. acid has a slightly sweet-sour aftertaste, fire has a spicy flare, lighting leaves a jolting taste on his tongue and cold creates a slight tingly numb sensation.
Other elements of your ancestry also affect your day-to-day life, from fire blood making you his personal hot water bottle, full of blood. Or your cold blood, creates a faint aura of ice upon your skin, causing you to have Gale create an enchanted heated blanket to keep you both warm.
Using your wellspring of magic within your body, you attempt to twist the arcane magic that flows in your blood in an attempt to transfer some of your arcana magic into Astarion when he feeds from you. Mainly in the hopes of making him stronger in difficult fights.
However, this backfires causing your blood cells to temporarily produce faster, causing you to get Astarion to help. He does chastise you for doing something dangerous but doesn’t say no to the offer of having seconds of your blood in one day.
A few days later, you learn how to replicate the same spell, but on a lower scale, which assists in not only keeping Astarion well-fed but also stopping the effect of bloodless afterwards.
Some traits that emerge from your ancestry is the habit of hoarding objects, from gold coins to silver plates. Even taking one of Astarion’s spare nightshirts to sleep with much to his annoyance, so he tries to steal things from you in retaliation, which becomes an unspoken agreement between you two.
When your wings finally come through, he tries to help you become used to them, mainly in the hopes that you could fly him around places, eliminating the need to walk around all the time whilst carrying such a heavy pack.
Preening habits also start to be displayed, mainly done in an attempt to impress Astarion. Everyone at camp teases that Astarion has been rubbing off on you, with his usual morning beauty care routine usually holding everyone up some days. He would find this to be cute but attempts to get you to kick the habit, by brushing them for you.
“Darling, I know you want to take care of your wings, but would it kill you to just fix up your hair as well.”
In return, you show your affection by wrapping your wings around him both when you embrace each other, acting as a sort of comfort blanket to both of you.
If you’ve grown out a set of dragon-like claws, he does your nails if they get too sharp, ensuring that you don’t accidentally scratch yourself. And if you have a tail, similarly to tieflings, you would have a habit of wrapping your scaled tail around his leg, which he would endlessly tease you for.
Later on in your relationship, you both give each other unique pet names, you call him your Isk meaning star in your draconic tongue, whilst Astarion in return calls you his miniature dragon.“An elf and a miniature dragon, hmm quite the pair wouldn’t you say love?”

What if Tav is a fey from feywild, or part fey? I don't have a particular race in mind, just wanted to see Astarion and fey Tav to be chaotic gremlins together
Love stuff to do with the fey, Tav from the fey wilds would create so much chaos together with Astarion. Although in usual D&D terms, the closest to part fey would most likely be a Hexblood. So I’ll be doing a Hexblood Tav who was mainly raised in the fey wilds for most of their life.
Hexblood Fey Tav Headcanons
You began your life as a creature of the fey before a deal gone south with a hag forced you out of your plane to the realm of Torri.
Of course, you would try to get by in this realm with your usual fey antics, of course not too long after, whilst on the road to your next performance, you get abducted by the nautiloid.
Making you curse the chaotic whims that fate throws at you.
Upon meeting your new travelling buddies for the first time, you try to keep your distance from them at first, in fear that they might try to offer you something, believing it to be a trap, binding you to them, forced to do their bidding. You even give them a fake name, instead of telling your real name, taking any precautions from being enslaved any further.
However after the third night of attempting to cook for yourself, you eventually cave after the sweet savoury smells of Gale’s cooking plague you, giving in to the temptation and never looking back since.
Most members of the group saw you as too carefree at times, rather choosing to do what you like at random times. It isn’t until you reach the swamp and finally meet Auntie Ethel, that you seemly completely switch, tearing into the hag with a sense of rage, trying to reenact your revenge upon the kind who stripped you of your home.
Most of your companions are initially taken aback, stating how you could have gone about a less brutal way of defeating the hag, but what’s done is done. Astarion though, just watches over the scene with joy, seeing your victory as a sign of strength. power.
Later that night Astarion approaches you with the offer for a romp in the woods, this makes you hesitate for a second before he says that it’s a fair offer after you gave him some of your blood. At first, you mainly see your relationship as transactional, in fear of being permanently indebted to him, but it isn’t until over time you both start to see your relationship as less transactional. At first, it feels weird to you not to do anything in return for him at times, but you quickly get used to it.
“So I don’t have to sing you a song and dance before receiving a kiss?”
“Well no, but if you want to, then I’m more than happy to watch you flap around like a headless chicken.”
During most of your early travels with Astarion, he would be in awe over how much colour there is during the day, but you state how it seems drab compared to the bright wonders that the fey wild had to offer.
Throughout your travels to Baldur’s Gate, whenever someone approaches you with a request to solve an issue or problem they are having, you’d usually reply with a, “What’s in it for me”, then proceed to go about solving the issue either destructively or chaotically.
A rat infestation? Well, a large fireball in such an enclosed space will make it quick and easy.
Need to clear out the nearby goblin camp? A few powdered keys should do.
Aside from your destructive tendencies, you also love to play tricks on others, whether they deserve it or not, it doesn’t matter. With you and Astation being a tag team duo, while you would create a crowd to distract people with a song or dance, Astarion would sneak around attempting to pickpocket as many people as he could.
Other antics would include trading for weird items, such as attempting to purchase a sword or magical artefact, you would cast an illusion on some nearby rocks to give them the appearance of gold pieces. Followed by having to run from the now enraged shopkeeper, whilst Astarion is in hysterics.
Despite most of your fey traits mainly giving other members of the group grief, one condition you hated was your weakness to iron, even if a ring was placed on your finger for a few seconds, it would leave a slight burn mark in its place.
This came especially apparent one time, during a fight in which you were surrounded by bandits each brandishing an iron dagger or blade, ready to strike at you.
As soon as the first blade makes contact with your flesh, you let out a loud shriek of pain as the tip of the blade leaves a large burn mark on your skin. Alerted by your cry Astarion rushes to your side, quickly taking out the rest of the bandits, before carrying you to safety.
Back at camp, he’d tend to your wound, and whilst holding you close to him he’d softly chastise you mainly out of concern.
“Be lucky that this is only a small wound, just next time stay by my side and don’t rush out like that next time.”
After the fall of the netherbrain, realising how much this realm had to offer to you, Astarion suggests going around exploring more of faerun as hunters, maybe even finding the hag that cursed you and enacting your revenge. After all you did free him from his tyrannical ex-master. Over the 6 months the two of you spend travelling all across faerun, you eventually learn to bask in the wonders that this plane has to offer.
One late night, whilst lying in your shared tent, you turn to face Astarion, feeling as if you have a heavy weight to lift from your chest, you speak “I have something to tell you.” He’d look at you with slight surprise, were you going to break up with him after all this time, “It’s about my name” you spoke sheepishly
“What about it my love, I think it’s a nice name.”
“Well, I may have given you a fake name, I was worried you would use it as leverage to bind me into a contract of sorts”
He laughs a bit upon hearing this, and you swiftly reply with “Well it may not seem like much to you but it’s a big deal to us fey.”
“Alright, would you do the honours of telling me your name my love?” whilst trying to do a small bow motion while lying down. Leaning closer, you whisper into his ear in your native tongue of Sylvan, your true name, before leaning back waiting for his response. He looks at you for a while before the expression on his face goes soft “Well I think it’s a beautiful name, regardless of what it is, you will always be my darling.”

What if after observing Astarion for a while Tav treats him like she would a cat: Giving him plenty of space, giving him time to approach her instead of approaching him, etc. This would make sense if Tav is a ranger, or any class who’s familiar with animals.
Bonus if Tav is accompanied by a big cat since Astarion is a Drizzt Do'Urden fanboy (or at least his VA is 😂)
This reminds me of Neil mentioning how he based Astarion on a stray cat he befriended, but I do like the idea that he does manifest some cat-like traits without realising due to his vampirism.
Astarion’s Cat-like qualities
As a beastmaster ranger, you’re familiar when it comes to the behaviour of various animals, particularly those of the large cat variety.
Your pet familiar is a snow leopard, which you rescued when it was a cub from the fierce blizzards ravaging the snowy wastelands of Icewind Dale.
When raising the cub, you’d eventually get used to the habits they display being sometimes similar to that of a household cat, from them sleeping in high places to bringing you gifts every day of creatures it hunted as it’s way of thanks.
When you meet Astarion, you quickly pick up on his similarities with your feline companion. You were never sure whether it was from his mannerisms or his vampirism, but you attempted to get close to him by using similar techniques with stray cats.
During your evenings at camp, you sit by the campfire, wearing a loose collar shirt with your panther companion lying down next to you asleep, trying to look uninterested in Astarion, all whilst glancing up to make brief eye contact with him before averting your eyes from him.
This goes on for a few nights, with him gradually approaching you, inch by inch, till he finally caves and sits next to you feeding off your free arm nearly every night from then on.
Shortly after he’s sipped your blood, he gets a rapid burst of energy, pupils expanding to that of cat slits, before quickly bolting upright and watching him leave to go burn off his energy in the forest.
Some nights, in the privacy of his tent, he’d rest his head upon your lap, soon wrapping the weight of his body upon you, if you attempted to shift him off he would groan muttering under his breath “No, don’t leave you’re warm”, leaving you stuck to the ground for the rest of the night. Sometimes, you swear you’d hear him making a strange vampiric purring when he was in a trance.
After a while, he starts to bring you gifts in exchange for the blood you’ve offered him, mainly drained animals he’s hunted, such as the boar, stating how you can reuse the parts as food supplies.
When chatting with others, he attempts to interrupt any conversations to get your attention, by silently stepping in between the two of you and staring at the other person, subtly hooking his arm around you, all whilst maintaining eye contact with them until they either stop or leave.
One night, however, whilst watching you sleep, you notice his eyes slowly blink at you, staring at you softly whilst you rest. However, upon questioning if he was worried about you, he’d deny stating “I was just making sure that you were fine, especially after that fight at the creche, who knows what they could have done to you” before shifting his gaze away from you, trying to avoid repeating the reaction.
Later into the night, you tell him how much he reminds you of your pet snow leopard, stating how the two of you are quite similar. “Oh, is it because of my sharp fangs? Or my keen senes?, either way, I can see how flattered you are-”. You quickly cut him off abruptly, stating “No, it’s because you purr like a cat, it’s cute”. Flustered by the statement, he attempts to rebuttal “I- I don’t do such a thing, don’t compare me to some fur ball”. Swiftly turning his head away from you with a light blush forming on the tips of his ears.

This could be because I've been playing quite a few farm games recently like Harvestella, but I'm thinking of a farm AU in which it just follows farm sim tropes, so being tasked to look after the farm by a relative or just amnesia in Durge's case.
So in Astarion case, he would be the NPC who would only be out during the night doing the night shifts, maybe he’ll go out earlier if you raise his friendship level.
His quest would be something like trying to free himself from his work contract with some large business CEO. If you do so, then he’d perhaps become the local tailor in town, however, the ascended variant would be him becoming the new CEO of the company.
Also, I’d see him as the NPC who would go outside with a fancy type of umbrella during the day/summer season.
If he joins your farm, he'd definitely offer to help with caring for the livestock, providing that he gets free blood from them in return and would haggle with shopkeepers to ensure you get more money for your crops.
Love to hear if you guys have any ideas for this.

Prompt: Astarion x Tav where Tav is a dhampir
A Dhampir and a Vampire spawn would be an interesting dynamic, especially considering that in most cases they become trained vampire killers/hunters.
Dhampir Tav Headcanons
Your Dhampir lineage was a result of your birth mother being bitten by a vampire before you were even born.
Setting your fate to be a dhampir before you were even born, as a result, You were never able to find a home throughout your life, any kind of vampires would shun you as a dreaded daywalker, whilst any mortals would call you a dreaded bloodsucker.
In retaliation against the ones who cursed you to this fate, you dedicate your life to hunting the undead creatures in an act of vengeance.
When you first meet Astarion, you both nearly devolve into a knife fight on the floor, before the tadpole stops you from continuing any further.
During your first night together in camp, the two of you are tense after your first meeting. He attempts to shake the feeling off by hand waving due to the tadpoles.
But to you, it feels strange, most of the vampire spawn you’ve met were mainly hostile, hissing, claws ready to tear your throat out, but Astarion seemed to be different from the others, more humane in an unusual way.
This doesn’t deter you from keeping your guard down, after all in your experience, vampire spawn are always one thirsty night away from betraying everyone.
The very next night, you feel the hunger pains within you, to feast upon blood, despite your distaste for blood, you occasionally need to consume it, or else it will weaken your body and state of mind, but never kill you.
After a quick sneak into the nearby forest, you return victorious with rabbit’s blood to feast upon, to keep you sain for the next few weeks, however, your victory is short-lived as Astarion spots you caught quite literary red-handed with the rabbit still in your hands.
He immediately suspects you of being one of his old masters' spawn lackeys sent to take him back to his tormentor, “Your pale skin, the urge to drink blood, I knew you were one of his pests, well I’m not going back”.
You quickly try to rebuttal in defence that you’re nothing of the sort, and you’ve never heard of this master before, he saw you eat Gale’s cooking the other night, vampire spawn can’t eat normal food. He backs off from you a little after that remark, before speaking yet again “So what are you exactly?”.
That’s never been the easiest question for you to answer, but you attempt to explain to him how you’re a Dhampir a half-human vampire, a monster to everyone you seemly meet.
He looks at you as if you have grown three heads, it soon transpires that he’s never heard of your kind before, seemly interested in what a half-breed like you would have to offer against the local vampire lord population.
The two of you soon create a strange bond, that which is built upon your shared hatred towards the very beings who cursed you. You teach him some of your expert undead killing ways upon hearing the torment Cazador put him through, in return you tell him tales of the lesser vampire lords you’ve slain by your hands, giving him the safety of having you by his side.
In return he starts to see you as less of a monster, instead seeing you as just you. Complimenting on the combination of your colourful hair in contrast to your pale skin, to the smaller set of fangs that you have.
When it comes to blood, he never feasts upon your own, saying how it smells weird as if it has a strange underlying danger to it so he’s better off not taking the chance.
Upon your arrival at Baldur’s Gate, the two of you decide to stride straight towards the Szarr palace to kill the vampire lord once and for all, but you warn Astarion that if he ever ascends, you will have to kill him, as he’ll be no better than the dozen other vampire lords you’ve told countless tale about.
Once his Cazador was finally slain, the fate of the spawn was left in the hands of you both, your past self would have decided to kill them, stating that they are no better than the ones who made them, but upon seeing them in the cells, they remind you of when you met Astarion, an undead who still seemly had a soul to call his own, a radiant hope for those cursed to walk in the shadows.
With a deep breath, you tell him to set them free, as they are only victims like him, and curiously they feel like a dark blood kin to you. The spawn are grateful for your generosity, especially knowing that most of you kind would kill without a second thought, whoever you do warn them that if they ever lose control, you will not hesitate to kill them.
After the defeat of the nether brain, the two of you decide to do what you do best, acting as a deadly pair of night-stalker vampire hunters vowing to save those who have fallen into the hands of tyrannical vampire masters. Travelling across faerun to see what the world has to offer both of you.

prompt: Tav with a gun lol. Let’s say Tav got abducted from a sci-fi world, like from another sci-fi video game, which solves the ammo issue. Or she’s an artificer class from somewhere out there in wildspace, so she makes her own ammo and steampunk weapons. Whatever you choose.
Either way, Astarion is very interested in her weapons.
Making me think of all those glock mods for BG3 but I agree that Astarion would be 100% interested in an artificer artillerist Tav. Also with artificers usually focusing on intelligence, he would be interested in that compared to Gale.
Artificer Tav (or Glock Tav)
Astarion had never met an artificer such as you before. Sure he may have heard of some gnome who were artificers, but they usually specialised in either alchemy or armoury.
He never took much interest in them anyway, besides all they would talk about is how their creations were made for non-destructive uses.
However, upon seeing your destructive artillery focus, it quickly gains his interest.
Someone who is intelligent and approves of using destructive force, rather than giving dull lectures about the meticulous details of the weave the magic as a whole, sounds like a LOT of fun to him.
Of course, the first thing he’d ask of you is to have a go at your eldritch cannon, but soon has to be confiscated from him, due to his recklessness with it.
Instead, he’d try to give suggestions on how to improve your weaponry, “Maybe if you add a lick of poison to your bullets for an extra sting” “What do you mean it’ll cost too much?”.
Whilst tinkering with making small gadgets in your free time, he would observe you from afar, watching your hands skillfully craft each one. You would quickly pick up on this, by offering him to watch you work up close instead.
The tinkering side of your nature would lead to some problems in camp though, with collecting any pieces of scrap metal found on your adventures, old rusted cutlery? They can be repurposed into so many things. This would lead to an intervention at camp with the amount of ‘junk’ you have collected in such as short time.
Eventually, you would start creating small utilities to use in camp, such as a portable shower kit to compact carrying containers.
When you go to fight Cazador, the situation quickly turns into bringing a knife to a gunfight, however in this case you’re adequately equipped and prepared to fight him.
Obviously, you would defeat him, Buffy the Vampire Slayer style, “No weapon forged can stop me”, “That was then” pulling out your modified eldritch cannon and taking aim at Cazador, “This is now”, promptly launching him off the ritual platform.
After the tadpole is gone, you promise to make him a device that will allow him to walk in the sun once again. Stating that he’s better off trying science if all means of magic and gods have failed him so far. Naturally, it takes quite a few attempts to create a working solution, but once you do, he is forever grateful for your help and will go about boasting about how smart his partner is compared to the magic shows that wizards present.

If you’re still taking prompts: Tav was abducted from wildspace, maybe she was a crew member of a spelljammer, maybe she was a passenger or a merchant, either way she’s not from Faerun. She falls for Astarion, but after the brain is defeated she has to return to wildspace. Perhaps staying in Faerun drastically shortens her very long lifespan, and her realm isn’t safe for Astarion, but she vows to return every so often, like once a year (e.g. origin story of the Tanabata festival in Japan). They essentially become immortal star-crossed lovers.
Hi Anon, my inbox is always open, unless stated otherwise on my pinned post as the first thing you see.
I haven’t really read much on dnd spelljammer stuff so this finally got me around to reading it. For this Tav though, I’ll make them an astral elf as I found their culture to be interesting.
Astarion x Astral Elf Tav/Spell Jammer Headcanons
You are an Astral elf, known for exploring the wild space cosmos for over 150 years of your life, as a part of a crew of spell-jammers. Being one of the younger members of the crew, as a gifted aristocrat, able to channel the power of sunlight through your magic that courses through you.
Despite your bounty of skills at your disposal, the only weakness you face is leaving that plane seemed to shorten your lifespan making you bound to the astral plane for your entire lifetime. But after the mind flayers snatched you from your ship, the tadpole inside seemed to have gifted you a normal lifespan, allowing you to survive in the land of Toril.
But exploring the land of Faerûn seemed to be a short-lived dream, as your new goal was to rid yourself of the guest who has now taken up residence inside your head, wishing to transform you into a mindflayer.
The Githyanki in your group, who’ve you known to be hostile in most of your encounters in the astral high seas, seemed to have both united over a common hatred for the mind flayers who put you in this position in the first place.
However, you weren’t the only one who realisation that having these tadpoles isn’t for the best in the long term. Astarion, who you thought at a glance was a variant of astral elf himself, was a vampire. Now able to giddily enjoy the glow of the sun without having to feel as he describes “the wrath of biting ants all over your skin.”
Most of Faerûn’s customs are unfamiliar to you, from the ritual the priest makes you go through in the goblin camp to the gifting of wild floral plants to ones you care deeply for.
Another struggle that you face is your lack of elvish language knowledge. Growing up, you only ever saw the need to learn common and celestial.
Astarion would notice your lack of elven knowledge and try to teach you some basic phrases, although most of his classes would involve him trying to teach you flirty phrases to say under the pretence that it’s a common greeting.
Despite his teasing, you would attempt to return the favour by showing him simple celestial phrases, with the surprise that it doesn’t set his throat on fire after speaking in a holy tongue.
During the nights in the shadow-cursed lands, when the warmth of the sun can’t reach, you use some of your solar magic to replicate the feeling of warmth on his skin.
One of these nights on the road towards Baldur's Gate, the two of you are star gazing in silence, until you point up at the sky at two lone stars in the inky darkness above you. “In my culture, we believe our people get carried into the astral sea and turned into stars, I think those two are like us.”“Really, just some little lights in the sky?”, you turn to meet his gaze, “Well you have ‘star’ in your name right?”.
Astarion even suggests going through with the ritual, before having to stop him stating that even if you were made immortal, your soul is still bound to the astral realm and immortality would make you nothing but a husk of a person over time. But you make the promise to visit him one day every year, by opening a portal to the realm of Toril.
During the weeks leading up to fighting the brain, you gift him a small wrapped parcel. “Hmm? Darling, what’s this?” ”Something special, just open it” Looking back at him with a grin, upon peeling off the wrapping, revealed a smooth carved stone with an odd pattern on it.
He looks back at you, slightly confused as if you’ve got mad “Darling, this is just a rock”, “Not just any rock silly”. You pull out an identical stone to the one he’s holding and quietly mutter some words into it, for the one in Astarions hand to parrot back what was just spoken.“It’s for when I have to go, we can still speak to each other through it, but for now I prefer to hear your voice from you.”
He lets out a soft sigh “You’re always thinking a few steps ahead my sweet, but obviously my voice sounds better coming from my throat than some rock” letting out a smile.
After the defeat of the netherbrain, the tadpole now destroyed, you feel the effects of your lifespan being shortened after being outside your realm for so long, knowing that it is your time to leave, Astarion runs to you carrying you into the safety of the shadows to avoid himself from burning up. “I’m sorry, I want to stay with you, but I have to go now ”
Astarion holds you as tight as he can, uttering the phrase “Ai armiel telere maenen hir.” "You hold my heart forever.” as many times as he can count before you climb onto the dragon, to return to the astral plane, home.
Every night after he would visit the surface from the Underdark at night, looking up into the stars, muttering into the sending stone, message after message, all in Elven tongue, “I love you so much” “I’ve been doing well with the other spawn” “I’m thinking of you every day my love”. He’d wait with bated breath to hear your response back in return.
However, when the day arrives when the two of you are reunited only for a day every year, you stay in each other's embrace, practically bound together, before having to return home to the astral plane.

Reblogging for any new followers, poll is ending in 3 days, there's still time to vote if you haven't already. Also, I will do the other fics that don't win as well.
Poll Time! (Again)
So I have a few series fics I want to write about including my OC Tav/Durge. Trying to aim for them to be maybe around 8/10 chapters each so we're doing another poll. Details on each fic are in the read more section for those curious. (Or just vote based on vibes)
I will also be posting some headcanons when possible whilst working on these as well.
Descent Into The Shadows,
Following the defeat of the nether brain, spawn!Astarion and Redeemed!Durge attempt to help the spawn who went to the Underdark after the defeat of Cazador. A personal retelling of the events that happened during the 6 months before the epilogue party.
An ex-bhaalspawn and vampire spawn learn how to make a place for themselves, slight fluff at times and slightly self-indulgent.
A Twist in Time,
Durge gets swapped with an alternative version of herself who gave into her father’s desires, embracing the urge, alongside the vampire ascendant astarion. However, this variation refused to take over the netherbrain and was driven mad by the urge. Now Spawn and Ascended have to deal with the universe counterpart lovers.
A What-if scenario comes true.
Get Him Back(and Then?)
A split branch from A Twist in Time, in which Astarion still ascends after Tav is unable to convince him. Persuades him to turn her into a spawn after the defeat of the nether brain, in case the tadpole remains in her head as a spawn, which he allows. She ends up running away from him after the fall of the brain to the Underdark, living with the myconid colony in hopes of finding a way to stop his power-hungry ways. However the Ascended does let her go so easily.
Lovers to enemies to ??? energy.

I just thought of a prompt: In the game Astarion mentions during the first decade of his enslavement he met a sweet man that he didn’t want to bring to Cazador, which led to his year of entombment and giving up on fighting Cazador. What if Tav is a descendent or relative of that sweet man, and he left a journal of how a pale elf saved his life before escaping into the remote countryside. Tav is abducted while on her way to Baldur’s Gate to investigate the journal, and when she meets Astarion she immediately suspects it’s him.
When it’s revealed he’s a vampire spawn Tav is now sure he’s the elf that saved her ancestor/relative’s life.
Oooh, this is interesting, I have made this one a little bit angsty in one section. But I feel like this would change up the dynamic if it was in the game
Astarion x Descendant Tav Headcanons
For most of your life, you grew up living in the countryside, far from the large bustle of the city life in Baldur’s Gate. Despite your family's willingness to distance themselves from the city, it never seemed to deter you. Ever since you were gifted your grandfather’s journals as a child, chronicling his life in the upper city, from the views to that of the variety of dishes they provided, seemed like a dream to a country child like yourself.
Although one section was a mystery to you, that of in-depth descriptions of a pale elf. When you asked your parents, they never wanted to speak much about it, saying when he returned, he looked entirely different, changed by an event that took place there. They would always try to steer your thoughts away from the city if prompted any further.
One day, you decided to leave the small village on a whim to journey to the city, wanting to put an end to the mystery. Travelling along the road to Baldur’s gate to investigate the mystery, is cut early after being abducted by the nautiloid ship, now being set back further from where you started with a tadpole in your head.
However, one face looked familiar among your new travelling friends. A pale elf, one which matched the exaggerated descriptions inside your grandfather’s journal. However seeing him in person said otherwise, matching what was written, ‘Ruby eyes as if looking into a ripe rose’ and ‘Silver lock curls that brushed softly against his ears’. But how could an elf like him look the same after so many decades?
Upon discovering his vampiric nature, explains how he was able to stay young for so long. One night you decide to confront him about your grandfather’s journal, showing him the entries and asking if he knew anything about it. Of course, he would deny not having a clue about what you are talking about
“Why do you insist on exhuming the past? I have no such knowledge of meeting a person like this”
His eyes would dart away from yours wishing to no longer engage in such pointless dribble. Any other mentions of the journal would just leave you with him trying to skirt himself around the topic.
One night though, he approaches you, drunk on, presumably, the blood of a bear, clinging to you refusing to let you go “I’m glad you’re alive still” he’d slur “You were so naive and sweet, to be subjected to such a thing”. When you try to question him about it, he refuses to answer any further, just tightening his grip on you longing to stay in the moment, eventually having to drag him back to his tent for the night.
The next morning, approached his tent to check on him, “I suppose you want to know what I was talking about last night” His body turned away from you to stare at the deep crimson of the tent walls. “You don’t have to tell me anything you don’t want to”, he turns to face you “Hmm, well I don’t want to talk about as much as you do, but that won’t do anyone any good”.
He explains how, in his first decade of slavery, he found a sweet naive man, who dreamed of making it big in the upper city of Baldur’s Gate. Compared to most he would find from petty criminals, street drunkards and brothel-goers, he would occasionally find some naive soul who wished to make it big in the city.
One of those was your grandfather, he never tried to charm him, more so befriend him, he warned him to never approach him again and to run far away from this city if he wanted to live.
“He was the first and only one who I ever truly let go” his eye meeting the floor
“And I punished horribly for it” the grip on his shoulders tightening.
An awkward silence fell upon the tent “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have pushed you like that to answer”. A light laugh leaves his lips as he turns to look at you, “Ha, you're just as sweet as he was, but…I’m glad he was able to make a life for himself, unlike me”. Slowly you clasped over his shoulder, his eyes staring directly into yours “Don’t speak so short of yourself, I promised you that I’ll keep you safe, just as you did for my grandfather, your actions won’t be in vain”.
Whilst travelling to Baldur’s Gate the two of you bond over the descriptions left in your grandfather’s journal describing the palaces within the city, ‘The Blushing Mermaids signature dish, salted small-fish stew, may be one of the establishment's more unique dishes that they have to offer.’, “We have to try that when we get to the city it sounds amazing”, “Hmm, how about we just avoid the Blushing Mermaid, I know their calamari dishes don’t live up to their praise and that was over 200 years ago.”
Upon reaching Baldur’s Gate, you felt as if you had the biggest culture shock of your life, from the once romantic establishments now being nothing more than an average local tavern and the food they served was nothing but the morning leftovers from last week's catch. Now staring down at the dish through the murky stew a piece of baitfish floating to the surface. “Now darling, it was your choice to go here you should looked more pleased with the dish that dear old grandfather elegantly described to you.” smiling at you with a smug look.
Despite the reality of city life overwhelming your naive outlook on life, one quiet night in elf song, you turn to Astarion, “You know, over 200 years ago, if you didn’t let him go that night, then I would have never met you, funny how things worked out like that”, “I’m glad you think so too, ever since that night, I wonder sometimes if I ever made the right decision, but know I think I do, and I’m thankful to have met you”.

Note
I’ve got a prompt idea. Maybe this Tav is a natural mind reader, even before the tadpole, so she immediately knows Astarion is a vampire who’s terrified of being hunted down. Since I’m a sucker for protective Tav, maybe she keeps his secret for as long as possible, or secretly helping him find some wildlife when his hunger gets worse…
Oooh, I like the idea of this. I will take some notes from the Aberrant Mind Sorcerer subclass and the great old one Warlock subclass, which does have telepathy-themed spells and feats.
Astarion x Mind Reader Tav Headcanons
For as long as you can remember, you were gifted with telepathy, allowing you to read other people’s thoughts through a simple glance. You tried to keep this skill hidden from others, in the fear of what others would do to you if they ever discovered your gift, making yourself somewhat of a loner, preferring the company of silence to others.
However, fate thought otherwise, by being abducted by the nautiloid with a mind flayer parasite being unceremoniously inserted into you, amplifying your abilities tenfold, now being able to just read surface-level thoughts undetected, without having to focus on a singular person at a time.
This, unfortunately, leads to accidentally learning too much about your new traveling companions, with private thoughts now being picked up on, from Shadowheart and Laezel’s constant bickering being transmitted constantly to you, to Gale’s seemly never-ending thoughts leading you to have constant headaches whenever he goes off on a theory of his.
However, when you brush minds with Astarion, you quickly discover that he’s a vampire, a blood-sucking beast of the night. Seemly able to walk in the sun unharmed, thanks in part to the tadpole.
Every night at camp, you try to keep a close eye on his thoughts in an attempt to focus on what his intentions are with you.
Most of his surface-level thoughts range from either commenting on others' fashion choices, to practising his latest lines he wants to perform.
“Is Gale wearing new boots? They’d look better on me than him.”
“Hmm Laezel, sharp as a blade but sweet as a… no that won’t do.”
But something seemed to lie deeper, fear. Fear of what the others would do upon discovering your secret, knowing that you are more fiend than friend. It reminds you of your past self, wanting to hide from the world. Besides he doesn’t want to harm anyone, but just wants to survive like you.
In an attempt to help him out, you try to discreetly hunt out and weaken boars to take back to camp and cook, in hopes that he can use the opportunity to drain the creature before the others get suspicious of his night treks into the woods.
Although this doesn’t last all too long before someone figures out he’s a vampire, you try to defend him, acting as if you are entirely clueless, much to Gale’s annoyance.
Eventually, others at camp notice how you stare at Astarion so often at camp, which makes them think you have fallen head over heels for him.
“Aww Tav are you eyeing up fangs again?” Karlach shouted at you from behind.
This inflates his ego quite a bit, “Well, of course, I mean look at me”. This leads to him thinking you’ve fallen head over heels for him in his mind. Constantly thinking of ways to charm you in his head, causing you to turn your head away to stop reading his mind to avoid you from melting on the spot in embarrassment.
Despite your companion's comments, you’re always by his side, whenever you feel his saddest or fear you are there ready to comfort him.
One night, he jokes to you, “You know darling, you always seem to know when to be in the right place at the right time. It’s as if you can read minds, even without that worm in your pretty head.”
At that moment, it felt like time slowed down, did he know, were you being too obvious, what if he doesn’t want to talk to me ever again? What if-
A cold hand touched your chin, “Darling, are you alright? You looked leagues away then”
“Was it something I said? I only joked if that you could read minds, wait-”
Opening his mouth “Can you read minds?”
Turning to meet his ruby eyes, all you can do is silently nod. You wait with baited breath for him to yell out at you, or just get up and leave. But he doesn’t, instead giving you a tooth grin, excited by the prospect.
Ever since then, every day he asks you non-stop, for either the latest gossip from others in camp or teasing you by thinking of all the inappropriate things he’ll do to you, when you are talking to others, to just simple things by stating how beautiful you look today. Eventually, the others catch on to your abilities since Astarion couldn’t keep his mouth shut for all too long and explained the constant silent staring.
Despite his relentless teasing, you still use your powers to check if anyone had any nefarious intentions with Astarion, ever since the meeting with the Gur you want to protect him from anyone who could be a spy for Cazador. For all the work you put in to ensure his safety, he tries to repay you, through other means.
Going around camp to make sure that Shadowheart and Lae’zel stop their squabbles, to Gale’s overthinking. At times if it gets to be too much for you, he’ll take you away from camp to try and give you peace of mind. He even offers you tadpole elixirs to try and reduce the constant stream of thoughts from making your head explode, especially when you reach Baldur’s Gate.
After the tadpole is gone, it takes time for you to adjust back to your usual abilities, having to relearn them. You and Astarion decide to settle down somewhere quiet in the countryside, away from busy buzzing minds. Both of you seem to have quite a bit to relearn, from his spider climb abilities and regenerative healing to your telepathy. But this time you’re not alone, you have someone who isn’t afraid of what you are and accepts you for being you.

Poll Time!
Lovers to enemies to ??? energy.

Batstarion A!Astarion + S!Astarion Headcanons
Pairing: A!Astarion/S!Astarion x GN!Reader/Tav/Durge
This one took a while to write up, but I did learn some interesting facts about vampire bats and tried to apply them here.
**Spawn Astarion**
After the defeat of Cazador, Astarion soon discovered a book within the palace, which contained the skills of vampire spawns that his master never wanted him to know about.
One of these skills was to turn into a creature of the night, this quickly intrigued Astarion, causing him to try and master the spell. He even tries practising wild shape methods taught to him by Halsin.
This takes a while for him to master, night after night spent trying to improve his skills with no transformation in sight. One night, nearly at his wits end with trying to master it, you speak,
“Maybe it’s a phrase you have to shout, try yelling bat, maybe that would work?”
“Darling, I don’t think it’s going to be as simple as saying the word bat-”.
Suddenly,  who was once standing in place of Astarion, now lay a small white ball of fluff with wings.
You are greeted by happy chirps and squeaks, quickly turning into a chorus of angry squeaks. One drink of speak to animals potion unravels what he is saying.
“I can’t turn back, darling do something, I don’t want to be stuck looking like a rat!” he huffed.
“Try and relax, it might wear off?”
“How can I relax like this, I don’t even have arms!”
Softly touching the white curly on his head, with the lightest tip of your finger, the pale bat relaxes instantly within the palm of your hand, almost purring at your touch.
Suddenly, the weight shifted from your hands, causing you to drop the bat onto the ground, only for Astarion to shift back into his humanoid form.
Checking to see if he’s fine, you are greeted by light snoring coming from him, seemingly collapsed from exhaustion, the transformation takes on him. Over time, he learns how to master turning into a bat with ease, allowing him to require shorter rests after turning back.
Of course, with him being at such a small size, it makes travelling together simple from keeping him under a robe to shade him from the sun and his light weight. When shopping at local markets, he’ll take advantage of merchants fawning over how cute he is, giving you discounts on your produce, without being aware that he’s a blood-sucking vampire spawn under that white fluff.
“I do wish they gave us something more savoury and juicy for free” grumbling to himself.
“And miss out on all the other goods we get?”
“Hmmm…fair enough, but don’t be surprised if ask for extra tonight” responding with a smirk.
He would adore all the attention you give him in this form, from soft pets on his head to just relaxing with you at such a small size. At Wither’s reunion party, he would show it off to others about it any chance he gets, as his special party trick, beaming the whole way through. Although he would have to deal with the hangover afterwards from shifting constantly the next morning.
Additionally, if you can fly, whether that is by being a druid who can wild shape, to a draconic sorcerer who has gained their wings, you both have fun flying around together at night.
**Ascended Astarion**
For A!Astarion, transforming into a bat is as easy as a wizard casting a cantrip, simple and quick with no downsides.
A!Astarion wouldn’t be one to showcase his ability to shift into a bat at his grand masquerade parties, mainly for fear of being seen as a weak simple creature. Although he would use it to stealthily eves drop on others from the cover of the shadows.
After he’s fed you enough of his blood, if you are his spawn, he’ll teach you how to turn into a bat. In your bat form, he’ll fuss over you more, being more protective of you in this form, as if your body is a prized porcelain vase. Some of the servants just presume you're another bat he’s caring for out of the thousands in the palace.
Carrying you around in his shirt pocket to always gaze at you, whether he’s signing contracts to talking with nobles from other cities, he would be their watching over you, closer to his undead heart than ever before.
Eventually, after a while, he would teach you how to fully fly and would only allow you to fly out at night, only if he was there to keep watch over you. Whilst transformed into your bat forms, he would develop the habits of bats from trying to constantly groom your coat, by cleaning each other’s fur, despite your protests at times and sharing food with you by regurgitating blood as a gift to you.
Compared to the rare moments he is the one in bat form, he would only allow you to pet him, usually in private away from prying eyes, insisting that he has a reputation to uphold.
“Pet, I am all for you adoring me, but we mustn't tell others of this, I have an image to uphold after all”.
He would also experiment with applying some elements of his bat form to his humanoid form, such as shifting his arms to be bat wings, usually as an intimidation tactic, or to show off during his extravagant ball dance parties with you, by lifting you into the air with him.
When you carry him around in his bat form, he would try to nip you more often, unprompted over any small inconvenience.
Not paying full attention to him? Bite,
Talking to someone other than him? Bite,
Just bored with nothing else to do? Bite.
But if you attempt the same thing to him when you're in bat form? He would laugh, calling you a “Cheeky little pup”.
However, if you keep trying to nip him, he will eventually gently order you to stop and ensure he’ll get his payback later in the day, still being petty about it.

Life with 7000 + 7 Vampire Spawn Headcanons
Pairing: Astarion x GN!Reader/Tav/Durge
So you released over 7000 vampire spawn into the Underdark and now you have to lead them with Astarion by your side. A snippet into day-to-day life in the Underdark
Since the poll tied, I'm just doing this in order of placement. The Batstarion headcanons will be coming soon. Also this is more life in the underdark focused on the spawn perspective but it does go in hand with Domestic In The Underdark.
Shortly after the defeat of the nether brain, you and Astarion return to the Underdark in an attempt to get the 7000 spawn under control.
You soon discover that most of the spawn are taking camp in the myconid circle, with the other 6 siblings and after an awkward long debate with the other spawn, Astarion becomes the unofficial/official leader of the group, whilst his siblings act as co-leaders and you as his right hand/partner/equal.
You start creating the haven, by taking up residency in an old abandoned fortress in the Underdark. Touches of comfort were added to the place through roomy living spaces and resources such as baths and beds.
In addition to a small community garden in the colony, which is filled with different safe mushrooms and fungi for some spawn to tend to, as a form of relaxation. Other similar activities are also made to do within the area.
Of course, to prevent the other spawn from seeing you as just a walking source of food, you have to apply garlic spray on yourself every so often to deter them from biting you.
Some spawns chose to disappear into the dark or return to their families, in hopes that they’ll still accept them for who they are, and others chose to embrace their more monstrous side preying on innocents which the Gur would usually deal with quickly before it got out of hand.
However, those who chose to create a new life for themselves, would come and stay in the haven.
With hosting so many blood-thirsty vampire spawn, it is required that the location of the haven must remain a secret to many. Despite this rule, Minsc always finds a way to visit you two in peace.
Astarion’s other siblings also assist with work on the colony, whether it be managing minor conflicts with the other spawn to Dalyria healing any spawn who may have come into contact with hazardous spores, cause regenerative healing isn’t going to fix that.
Working together with Dalyria and Lady Incognito’s notes, you work on creating potential cures for the spawn, from Liquid Night ointment made from moon flowers which gives spawn protection from the sun for a few hours acting as a form of sunblock to enchanted clothing that work for up to 8 hours before needing to be magically recharged again. These acted as temporary solutions but never full-term ones.
However, some spawns would enjoy their Underdark lifestyle and prefer to stay in the shadows. Some of these spawn would also lean into their vampiric nature by learning how to spider climb across the ceiling or transform into a bat through a lot of training.
Although many spawn would prefer to stick more to their mortal roots.
For main sources of food, are through raising Rothe to feed the vampire spawn, as well as boars to be bred to survive in the Underdark. Occasionally any hostile drow raiders would also try to attack, and they would be greeted by a ravenous pack of spawn ready to fight back swiftly.
Despite the number of enemies that are to be made in the Underdark, there are a few familiar faces who become allies to your cause. The myconids create a trade offer for you, in exchange for bringing hosts for their “children”, mainly through the fallen drow raiders, in return they offer to produce plants in their grove with rare medicinal properties.
Additionally, Blurg and Omeluum also help out, by mainly researching vampirism. By creating a research group through the Society of Brilliance, trying to study a long-term cure as well as their notes about the Underdark assisting as well into helping the haven thrive.
The Ulma Gur family also visits occasionally to gift herbs which assist in easing hunger pains and building restraints. They would also offer protection to the colony and are glad that some still wish to change their ways.
Occasionally some newbie Oath of the Ancient Paladins would try to be a wannabe hero and charge head-first into the colony, intending to bring balance to the natural order. They would usually be stopped by you or the Gur at first, explaining to them that they are just victims of torment, looking for a second chance at life.
To slay them in the name of an oath is to just crush all hope left in them. Some would be understanding. especially if you were an ex-oath of the ancient paladin, then they might be more likely to listen to reason. and would leave, whilst others would be too stubborn and the gur would have to deal with them.
Over time, some spawn would choose to leave after feeling that they could live self-sufficiently or that they have found someone who they would love to spend their (undead) life with.
The spawn grow to enjoy your company and are thankful for how much you’ve done, especially the main 6 siblings for all giving them a second chance at life.
-------------------------------------------------
Btw for those who don't know what night liquid is, it's an item from 3.5's Undead Libris Mortis, which gave undead-sensitive creatures, temporary protection from the sun for an hour. (but let's just say that they made a stronger batch for this). Also, I know this is less Astarion-focused, but the Batstarion headcanons will be more centred on our favourite vamp.
