a sigil for the home and hearth and protection for such a place.
@terrafey
MASTERFULLY DONE. THE SIGIL ALPHABET IS CONSISTENT AND VISUALLY COHESIVE AND THE HYBRID RADIAL/KNOT DESIGN GIVES IT AN EXCELLENT SENSE OF FLOW AND STRENGTH WITHOUT MAKING IT CLUTTERED. I ESPECIALLY LIKE HOW THE LARGER NODES ECLIPSE THE CONCENTRIC RINGS

A sigil for household protection and physical stability. We got a lot of storms, power outages, and downed trees over the summer, so better safe than sorry.

A sigil for those traveling by asphalt and exhaust, those roadtrippers and cross-country wanderers. For a steady engine and calm commute, keen eyes and no surprises.

i tried to read up on the idea behind sigil stuff but i'm not quite able to wrap my head around the use of magic squares- would you be willing to explain what the logic behind them is with regards to mapping a name onto a square and choosing which square to use in the first place?
Generally, in western magical thought, the magic squares 3 though 9 correspond to the 7 classical planets, and are associated with their various magical powers. They're generally used as lamen. Like, want help in childbirth? Make yourself a necklace with the square of Venus. That's the idea.
There's also a method of deriving sigils from them. Let's say I wanted to create a symbol out of the word GUNK.
I would find the square I deemed appropriate. Maybe I want something fighty, so we go with mars. I break down the word GUNK into numerical values. G = 1, U = 21, etc. And then draw a shape using those numbers on the square as vertices.

Every single year, without fail, we deal with the fact that the internet is obsessed with promoting the misinformation that Ostara must have been stolen from Easter.
People will argue until they’re blue in the face…But they won’t provide citations or evidence to the contrary and the reason why is simple: there isn’t any.
If you find that celebrating Ostara brings you joy: we aren’t here to rain on your parade or stop you in the slightest.
But misinformation, even misinformation that sounds cool and serves to further rhetorical goals, is still wrong and harmful.
So, after years of promising it, we’ve finally delivered: Easter isn’t stolen from Ostara.

It is may 29th, 1453. You are Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror, and you have just taken the city of Constantinople. You’ve been scaring the daylights out of the Christian world for a while now, but now you’ve really gone and done it. Your little jaunt through Asia Minor is causing a bunch of greek theologians to pull up and run further west into europe. The catholic church already has their hands full with a whole mess of internal conflicts. You wonder how they’re gonna handle this influx of new ideas. Sure would be a shame if you accidentally contributed to some sort of protestant reformation or something. You can’t think about that right now though, you’ve got to think of a better name for your cool new city.
Meanwhile, back in the Catholic Church, a sin is being committed. A sin so grievous and dangerous that it will eventually tear the Christian world as we know it in two: people are translating the Bible into dutch.

Does anyone happen to know about the origin of the Sigil Wheel people use? This thing.
Tumblr media
Still looking but all I’ve got so far is that it looks like the Rose Cross from Hermeticism. But that’s in Hebrew, and I can’t find where it jumped to the English alphabet and started being used for sigils.

four sigils to welcome in the stray and the tired, three bells to warn of dangers and two swords to ward them off, and one final sigil to let the weary rest and warm themselves.

Hey I’ve been working on writing a document about my methods for sigilcraft and whatnot, and while I’ve shared the draft in a few small circles I’ve never formally posted it anywhere. If I finished it and put it on Gumroad for a couple bucks or pay-what-you-like, would anyone be interested?
