I’m not sure if this will help any but I’ve seen a lot of mutuals on my dash concerned about the rising temperatures in I’m (assuming) places that aren’t used to these temperatures (being from phoenix) but here are just a few tips to staying cool that I’m not sure people may/may not know, all I’ve seen are warnings about heat exhaustion/stroke going around:
cool washcloths under your knees/neck help best with cooling down and keeping cool
switch the way your ceiling fans run to turn counterclockwise so it pushes cool air down to the floor
if you have pets, wipe them down with cool washcloths to help regulate their body temp (don’t ever apply or leave ice on an animal) also wipe down their paw pads, and give pets ice water and access to cooler places like the bathroom if you have tile floor
use ice packs if you have them to help cool yourself but remember that ice causes shock and is sometimes less helpful, so I suggest using sparingly
on the topic of ice, avoid extremely cold drinks (ice is good in drinks but don’t overdo it because it causes stomach cramps)
also avoid caffeinated drinks and high-sugar drinks
if you aren’t using certain electronics or lights, turn them off. conserving electricity helps with heat regulation.
keep blinds closed, and if you don’t have blackout curtains, then find something that will block the window/reflect the heat and sunlight back outside (my mom once bought the car window shades you put on the dashboard to block off sunlight coming in windows, for example)
if you have to go outside, cover your head (yeah it’s sweaty and hot and gross I get it but it’ll keep direct sunlight off of you and keep you from experiencing dizziness)
everyone says wear loose fitted clothing but also remember to wear light colored clothing
if you have a multi-story house, stay downstairs
this is all I can remember off the top of my head at the current moment. also if anyone happens to lose air conditioning during this time: if the indoor temperature is hotter than 95F don’t use a fan to cool down because it will not cool you down, it’ll just cause your body to gain more heat.
also here’s a helpful visual chart for heat exhaustion vs stroke that maricopa county released I think last year:

I screenshotted this YT comment back in 2019 and it just keeps getting funnier the longer time passes

[1:07PM] Grumbling, you slide into your usual seat at the library and run your fingers through your hair in frustration. It makes you more and more annoyed, that with every day that passes, you know your soulmate is somewhere, out there, just waiting for fate to one day let you cross paths.
When will you finally meet him?
Recently, your sleep schedules haven’t even been coinciding much, he’s been studying tirelessly for his upcoming examinations and you don’t want to bother him, you know he’s tired. But there are days that you just long to see him, just want to be wrapped in his embrace and held against his chest, even if it’s just a dream.
You unpack your stationery case and slump over on the table, dragging your hands over your cheeks. You’re in no mood to do any revision now, so you might as well take a short nap before starting your work.
Your eyes slip shut.
You doze off in comfortable silence for a while, mind at ease and resting, you vaguely hear someone slide out the chair next to yours at the edge of your consciousness and frown as the sound grates on your ears. But right before your eyes can flicker open, the darkness behind your shut eyelids blossom into light once more.
Excitement and joy wells in you as you realise what this means. To your surprise, this time you’re in the library, the library your actual body is in. Frowning, you sit up and turn around, glancing around you, it’s the same shelves, the same tables, even the same students… everything is real down to the very titles of the books on the shelves.
“Hey.”
Whirling around, you see him sitting opposite you, a warm smile on his face as he looks at you. There are dark circles under his eyes and his hair is windswept, but his smile, though tired, is still the most beautiful you’ve seen.
You forget your confusion and wrap your arms around him before he can say another word, merely holding him tight and burying your face in his neck as you savor his warmth. He chuckles, “someone’s missed me”, one hand coming up to stroke your hair and you nod earnestly.
“Of course I did.” Your words are muffled against his skin, and maybe it’s because you miss him so much, you can actually feel his warmth through the soft fabric of his hoodie, feel the ends of his hair tickling your face… it’s like a dream come true.
Like a dream come true…
Your mouth falls open and with a gasp from your lips, your eyes fly open.
The muted sight of the exact same library in your dreams swim into focus before you, but that’s not the first thing you notice. Instead, you feel arms, long and warm, strange yet familiar, distinctively masculine ones, wrapped around you.
And your face is in his neck.
You scream in shock and shove him away from you, heart pounding in your chest; the boy’s chair goes skidding backwards and topples over with an almighty crash, the occupant of the seat falling to the ground in a tangle of sleepy limbs and papers. A loud yelp leaves his lips and you rush to his side, panicking at the mess you’ve made.
Fire erupts across your cheeks as you take in the sight before you,
“Oh my god, I’m so sorry! I was all over you and I swear I wasn’t dreaming about anything inappropriate, I just-” You babble unintelligibly, reaching to help him out. The tall, hooded boy shakes his head as he takes your hand. “Nah, don’t worry about it, I’m fine-”
Then all the air rushes from your lungs as the hood falls from his face.
And then you’re looking upon the face you’ve seen a million times and not once in your life, eyes hungrily devouring his features. The world has become hyper real to the senses, every inch of his skin and the deep brown shade of his eyes burned into your memory, replacing the trivial little recollections you have of him - because now, you’ve seen him in the flesh.
His mouth curves up in the gummy smile you know so well as his name tumbles from your lips like a dream long forgotten.
“Mingi.”

I honestly miss how the kpop fandom used to feel years ago, where almost everybody was a multi, and everyone used to know all the popular jokes. When everyone had an obsession with Ring Ding Dong and the literal goal was to ask people what groups they liked and enjoyed them together??
Like I remember fanwars were those rare things that occurred once every 2 months if unlucky and the most popular posts would be the ones that included a mix of idols from different groups. No one gave a fuck about fighting and we’d make cringey memes together. And those weird trends of believing that IdolA is literally the child of IdolB and IdolC, something about that was so peaceful. Like do you all remember that shitty meme that went like taehyung is the son of baekhyun and daehyun ??? It was so stupid and I miss it with my whole heart because now if you put tae and baekhyun in the same sentence, stans are going to rip each other apart in the comment section. I never got into exo in all these years but boy did I listen to 5 of their songs and enjoyed them sm, and got in that trend of thinking ‘Yehet’ is peak comedy because everyone!!! Enjoyed!!! Nice!! Little!! Memes!!!
Everyone just wanted so many collabs.
We were all so weird and had fun together. I can’t believe I miss seeing people wear those SNSD caps with B.A.P facemasks and Bts sweatshirts and twice bag packs and Shinee shirts. I absolutely miss that mess of a fashion because in the end of the day,, it was so ?? Calm. And it was alright to appreciate everyone.
Of course a hundred things got better and we even understood how to identify hidden toxic issues in our behaviour, in order to support these artists further, but things are so shitty now. People are always fighting. Everyone hates everybody else. We love putting artists against each other. If someone mentions an idea of a cross-group collaboration, there would be 50 people trying to act edgy and just trash said artists. Now we have to read our posts 12 times before posting them in case someone treats it as a fucking open door for insult. It’s just not fun anymore.
And I just KNOW someone is going to reblog this saying “yeah (fandom) causes this shit”. No, shut up, you’re the problem here, people like you cause this shit. The blame isn’t on a certain fandom.
