Say Hi!
Hello, my name is Miss Michelle and welcome to the result of my boredom in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic.
Considering my background as a Literature student minored in Creative Writing, you’d think that I’d owned a website before this site was ‘banned’ in Indonesia. There had been a couple of trials to make one, for sure. However, as a highly confused college student, I decided to halt; knowing that I hadn’t found the right passion to vent out about. Which brings us here.
I’ve been working as a teacher for a pretty infamous English course for two years. For all that I could remember, I’ve been teaching and mentoring since I was very young; unprofessionally of course. I’ve always been meticulous at keeping notes so friends would come over and have study sessions at my house together during high school. I’ve volunteered at a certain organization back in college to teach public schools’ students and literally risked my life doing it (more about that later). It was for sure a challenging journey to work professionally as a teacher when you have very limited skills aside from the knowledge of the language itself. I can point out grammar error anytime but it takes more effort to enforce these precisions towards someone else. Many trainings and sharing among teachers have definitely make things easier as times goes by.
Anyhow, if there’s one thing that I’m confident in is that I’m a creative person. I’ve got some tricks I’ve picked up from my mom, friends, online and volunteer community when it comes to language activities. Over the past two years, I’ve gathered many fun and interactive learning activities and games that I’ve done with my students with great results and feedback. Starting from pre-kindergartens to adult learners’ classes, there will be various activities for you to try to implement in your lesson plan. I will post a regular language game or activity in this blog. Had it been of any help, please share and comment on how these activities could be modified and improved; I would love to hear many comments and inspirations to create a better and more effective learning environment.
The purpose of this blog is not to brag about my teaching skills, because two years are not essential enough and I’m still lacking in many aspects. This blog is dedicated to fellow teachers out there struggling to keep the students motivated during online classes, my co-workers who have been great inspirations throughout my professional career and for my lovely students who I missed dearly and have been making great efforts to study online.
Here’s to hope things will get better soon. Stay tuned and cheers!
