i think it’s interesting how people often characterize lan wangji’s perspective of wei wuxian during and after the yiling laozi arc like “free my man, he did nothing wrong.” but to me, i feel like this is just selling short his character and his devotion to wwx. the way i see it, when wei wuxian is at his worst and in the years after when wwx comes back, lan wangji isn’t condoning his actions of that era. it’s more like, “i know you were trying to do the right thing, and things spiraled out of control, and i failed to help you back then, and i won’t fail you again.” it’s not wei wuxian’s actions that lan wangji is so defensive of but his intentions. even if lwj didn’t know at the time (and even when he comes back, at first) why wwx chose the ghostly path and gave up righteous cultivation, he has an unshakeable faith in wwx’s moral code, that wwx will do what he feels is right. or at least, doing what he thinks he needs to do to survive. this doesn’t necessarily mean that lan zhan thinks what wwx did as his mental state eroded WAS right. we see this so many times when lan zhan tries to help him, hoping that wwx will return to gusu with him. it’s not until it’s too late, when wwx is truly breaking down, that he understands that that wasn’t the right way to help wwx. the right way is to just be there for him, which is what he does when wwx returns. letting wwx make his own decisions while showing him that there is still someone who believes in him. imo this is much more meaningful than the other interpretation that i see a lot that i mentioned above. it’s about being there for wei wuxian even if he does make the wrong decisions because at the end of the day he knows that wwx, at his core, has good intentions.

xiao zhan - yuguyao behind the scenes
Shocked and hesitant under the curled up body, the pain is hard to pull out in the condensed eyebrows and tears. The roar of thunder that hurt the ultimate traction did not reach the time shadow @X九少年团肖战DAYTOY 's pain of losing his mother...

wei wuxian: every feeling i have towards lan zhan is objective because he is objectively awesome and objectively beautiful. everybody feels the same way, even this random waiter. it has nothing to do with my preference, at all. if he liked me i would marry him, but that's just because everybody would.

Been meaning to talk about it since it started trending and I finally have the time now.
"Netizens thank Wang Yibo for scholarship funding"
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yibo's always been the silent introvert type but his heart is as big as the ocean. He never brags about anything he does, he just silently keeps on helping people and being the good boy he is 🥺.
Recently netizens came forward with the list of stuff yibo's been doing in private for the community and his people and it's so heartwarming because you wouldn't have even known he's been doing all of this if people didn't talk about it.
while haters and antis try everyday to smear his name and throw mud at him it's the voice of the general public now more than ever who know what a kind soul he is. More and more people are getting to know him as a person, his dedication to his work, how he's literally the most clean person in the industry and how he just helps people in silence. He doesn't talk about the haters, he acknowledges his fans but never hypes them up or uses fan service to bait anyone. This boy is just out there doing what he loves and just spreading joy to everyone. He deserves every blessing and happiness that comes his way and more 🥺❤️

I don't think any protagonist can ever top Wei 'Yiling Laozu' Wuxian. No one is doing it like him. He is an icon. He can shoot arrows blindfolded. He is a prankster. He falls for a boy and decides immediately that he must have said boy's attention on him at all time. He is necromancer exacting his vengeance. He is just three years old. He is a flirt. He has his first kiss in his twenties. He does not remember your name. He does remember that one song his crush sang to him in a cave when he was injured and feverish. He is a sunshine boy. He survived the hell of hells. He died and was unhappily brought back to life. He's the bizarre genius, the miraculous hero, the force of the rebellion, the flower that blooms alone. He walks the single plank bridge alone. He is the awesome gay uncle who knows everything. He is a pretty boy. He is the most moral, steadfast person you know. He is just a man throwing flowers to his love. He rips his hard won talent out to repay a debt that never was. He is a sister's boy. He is an abuse survivor. He is an urban legend. He is one of the most handsome men of his time. He has so much trauma. He plants children like radishes. He threw the arrow he was shot with from a rooftop and killed someone. He is a talented musician. He is a scheming fox. He can drink you under the table. He is so fucking tired of this bullshit. He has probably long since burned his tastebuds with the spice he puts in his food. He is broke. He kisses skeletons on their hands in gratitude. He confesses his deep, abiding love in the middle of being held hostage. He attempts the impossible and succeeding. He is an untamed hero, standing against a world condemning innocent. He is everything.

Okay, this is probably a stupid question... but who else to ask than you guys?
I know there’s the edited published version of the Mo Dao Zu Shi novel and the original uncensored version of it that used to be online. And i’ve read somewhere on tumblr that the original was a lot more graphic and that the published printed version is very much not graphic. So i figured that the fan translations online must be including the original uncensored version’s scenes, as they do have some quite steamy chapters. Such as for example, the bathtub scene.
I always assumed that the English (translated) published novel series is the same as the edited published Chinese version, and I thought it would not contain any deeply graphic parts. However... In book 4 towards the end... there’s the scene with the bathtub, and... it’s seems pretty complete to me (in comparison to the fan translations that i had read beforehand).
So, can anybody tell me if i was mistaken? Do the published versions contain all the graphic parts? Or are there maybe differences between the Chinese version and other translated published print versions? Or was what i read on tumblr wrong and the difference between original version and edited/printed version is not in how graphic the love scenes are but rather in other details?
In any case, i now feel like I have only ever read the edited/censored version (although it doesn’t feel censored at all to me), and am wondering what i missed. Is the original version anywhere to be found still?
I hope somebody can shed some light on this. Thank you so much in advance 💕

"He'd climb into Lan Wangji's bed come hell or high water, hoping that Lan Wangji would quickly strike him away with his sword in disgust. But no matter the fits he threw, Lan Wangji was still and unmoved. Every time Wei Wuxian burrowed into his blankets, he'd give Wei Wuxian a gentle tap, petrifying him." (Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation, Book 1, Chapter 5)
So, what I'm gathering is: Wei Wuxian, when trying to get Lan Wangji to kick him out, puts on a flirt and scandalously crawls into his bed. And then, when that idea fails and makes him end up sleeping cuddled up to Lan Wangji all night, to come up with a better solution... Wei Wuxian, one of the smartest men and the single most creative and inventive cultivator in the entire world, comes up with the brilliant plan to try the same failed idea again and again and again.

one thing i really like about the dynamic in the untamed is how there is no imbalance of skills between the absolute nightmare and the sweaterboy, when in many pieces of fiction the sweaterboy usually looks up to the absolute nightmare because they have a textually stronger combination of skills, but in the untamed they are equally clever, equally good fighters, equally good people… they are on the same pedestal and their differences amount to differences in extroversion, differences in specialization, differences in upbringing and differences in presentation

How subtext can tell us that Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji had sex after this scene:
Tumblr media
First of all, Lan Wangji goes to Wei Wuxian’s rooms with alcohol, a gift that indicates how he is letting go of his strictness in respecting the sect’s rule. This can subtextually be taken to indicate that he has become more open to intimacy. Also to note that the to flasks together can be interpreted as a visual metaphor for a scrotum.
Tumblr media
Then we can notice that he has chosen to wear a very comfortable and simple hairstyle, when he usually wears a very elaborate style and a cumbersome headpiece. It might indicate that he has dressed up for particular kind of activity or for sleeping in Wei Wuxian’s room.
Tumblr media
To note that he was already wearing the headpiece earlier that night and that he changed his hairstyle when he temporarily left and let Wei Wuxian converse with his brother.
Tumblr media
Then Lan Wangji starts playing a slow song (which we can hear for some seconds before their theme starts to play over it). Perhaps it could be intended as a piece to set a sensual mood. Wei Wuxian reacts by getting closer to him.
Tumblr media
All the while Wei Wuxian is handling a bottle with a rather phallic shape before his crotch.
Tumblr media
Bottles are a recurrent visual metaphor for the phallus in art. Here are some examples I have at hand: From: The Addams Family, S1EP12 - Morticia the Matchmaker (1964)
Tumblr media
From: Rope (1948)
Tumblr media
Then the scene fades to black and transitions to a shot focusing on a puff of smoke.
Tumblr media
The presence of fire, smoke or steam is a recurrent visual metaphor for sex in art. Here are some examples I have at hand: From: Bewitched, S1EP1 I, Darrin, Take This Witch, Samantha (1964)
Tumblr media
From: The Addams Family, S1EP07 - Halloween with the Addams Family (1964)
Tumblr media
Finally, the morning after, they made a point to show that Wei Wuxian hasn’t slept much the night before.
Tumblr media
So that’s why I believe it is hinted in the subtext that they had sex (possibly for the first time) after this scene.
