I made this text post that I can’t find rn about trying to watch Bridgerton with Jane Austen but having to show disapproval of their anachronistic fabric choices and disregard for regency era social mores and like I rlly want to like that show bc I love period dramas and it looks like so much fun but the disregard for regency era social mores thing bothers me so so so much that when I watch it I can’t think about anything else. They don’t even wear their hair up 😭

I know "60s housewives who invented slash fanfiction" has taken on a life of its own as a phrase, but Kirk/Spock didn't really exist until the 70s and THOSE WOMEN HAD JOBS. They were teachers and librarians and bookkeepers and scientists and they damn well spent their own money going to conventions, printing zines, buying fanart and making fandom happen.
